It all started with a wish for a satin-lined beach hat. When Rachel Osborne could not find one on the market, she set about creating her own.  She spent 2023 researching and testing her concept for luxury satin lined, and adjustable hats that would offer "no-frizz" experience for curly and kinky hair. As a result, her brand RAINA was born. THE BLACK MERMAID Zandile Ndhlovu is the founder of The Black Mermaid Foundation, an organization dedicated to changing mindsets and bringing people (particularly for Black and Brown people) closer to the ocean. She is South Africa's first Black free-diving instructor and through this work, Zandi is providing equitable access to nature and showing that our beliefs about the ocean can coexist with exploring its depths. Light pollution doesn't just pertain to the effects of unshielded nighttime lighting, the conversation increasingly involves light temperature and brightness levels as they impact the environment they're turned on in. It's been said that light pollution is the easiest of all the pollutions to correct, simply turn off a light. Along the way David takes us through this broad history and what he identifies as three waves of environmentalism: a limit of resources in the 1970s; a limit of what we can put into the environment during the late 80s and 90s; and the convergence of these into a third wave in the last decade or so with Peak Oil and Climate Change.
