Tilly's story is one of wild expansion—growing up with a conservative Dad and a strict Seventh Day Adventist upbringing, where sex before marriage was a one-way ticket to hell. Fast forward to now, she's leading The Open Circle, a vibrant community of over 500 people exploring alternative relationships, and co-running FAR, the Festival of Alternative Relationships. Along the way, Tilly has reclaimed the parts of her sexuality once suppressed by the church, stepping into a life of expansion, authenticity, and deep connections.Host application form: https://forms.gle/eGNUbdpR72EnrtkX6Speaker application form: https://forms.gle/9fpJTcsf1Fz9cFC29Social media handles: @storiesthatstirEvent links: https://www.storiesthatstir.com/eventsWebsite: https://www.storiesthatstir.com/

Ojai's newest performing venue will be the site of a special benefit for veterans, "Heroes Healing: Songs from the Wilderness," on November 2 from 3 to 7 pm. It's being organized by Open Circle Foundation and Heroes Healing Homestead in Homer, Alaska, to provide a wilderness therapy experience for veterans suffering from service-related PTSD. Joining us on the podcast are Open Circle's founder Miriam Jones and Heroes Healing's Atz Kilcher. If that name sounds familiar, it should. Kilcher was the star of Discovery Channel's "Alaska: The Last Frontier," for 12 seasons. He is also the father of Jewel, the singer-songwriter who has sold 30 million albums. She got her Grammy-nominated start as a young child playing in a duo with her father, who is a well-known songwriter and yodeler in his own right. Kilcher has several connections to Ojai. His mother spent several months here when he was a teenager, leaving him to "hold down the fort" at the family homestead in Kachemak Bay in Homer, Alaska, and he is well acquainted with the numerous contingent of Ojai residents who also homesteaded in Homer (see Mark Lewis' story "O Pioneers!" in the Fall 2019 issue of Ojai Quarterly). The November 2nd concert will take place at the brand-new Topa Bowl in upper Ojai at the Topa Institute. Also on the bill are Andrew Wiscombe, Stephen Covell, and Kate & Secily Anderson. The event will also feature storytelling, crafts, food and more. Operation Encore is another key organizer for this event, helping develop veterans who are musicians through performances and recording opportunities. Open Circle connects veterans and other at-need people with the wilderness for restoring purpose and a sense of community. Kilcher and Jones talked about how this event came together through a fortuitous encounter with Jones and her co-founder in Alaska, Kilcher's Vietnam experiences, why tje wilderness is essential for mental health, what it's like to live on a rugged homestead while being filmed for more than a decade, and their various journeys that led up to this moment. We did not talk about Aztec death whistles, mah jongg or the Japanese royal family. In this episode, Adam and Miriam, co founders of Open Circle, dive deep into the complexities of guiding change, offering practical insights into both horizontal and vertical transformations. They emphasize the critical need for understanding and accepting change, while also exploring the common resistance humans face, often rooted in our fear of loss. Throughout the conversation, they address the challenges individuals and organizations encounter when guiding change, from managing resistance to recognizing what is truly essential. Adam and Miriam reflect on how our evolutionary attachment to status and identity can make embracing change difficult, sometimes leading to anxiety, depression, or a lack of meaning. Key Takeaways: Change is constant, and learning to navigate it is crucial. There are two types of change: horizontal (superficial) and vertical (deep, fundamental). Resistance to change, rooted in fear of loss, can block growth and lead to anxiety and depression. Nature teaches valuable lessons on cycles of life and interdependence, providing perspective on change. Vulnerability and listening are key skills for effectively guiding others through transformation. Leaders must reflect on their own biases and be open to learning from others. Why do we fail to achieve the most important high-stakes changes that our lives demand and that we desire? According to the Immunity to Change approach to human development, it is because we have a sub-conscious "immune system" of competing commitments and assumptions that make those changes nearly impossible; until we uncover and overturn them. In this episode, Deborah Helsing, the Director of Mind at Work, explores the psychological "Immunity to Change" and its roots in proven theories of adult human development. Science has proven that the human mind develops throughout our lives. This development is not just about learning new skills, it's also, and more critically, about developing the capacities to thrive amidst ever-greater complexity. Deb shares with us her personal journey of development, from educator to coach, to a trainer of coaches around the world using Minds at Work's innovative and proven coaching methodology. Deborah Helsing, Ed.D. has coached individuals from many walks of life and consulted with organizations across several sectors to use the Immunity-to-Change approach to reach their most-cherished improvement goals. More recently, her role as Director of Coach Learning Programs at Minds at Work has focused on developing coaches' and consultants' abilities to integrate the ITC method into their own practices. Minds at Work helps people to close the gap between their good intentions and their actual behaviors. Their work is based on Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey's breakthrough discovery of the hidden behavioral dynamic called the “Immunity to Change.” This highly lauded technique is now being used by executives, senior teams, and individuals in business, governmental, and educational organizations in the United States, Europe, and Asia. "Culture feels squishy to a lot of people. It is squishy and hard to quantify. When you look at visible and observable behaviors - how people show up - you start to get data that gives you an organizational diagnosis of where and why people are experiencing the organization. Culture is often defined by the worst behavior tolerated. How do people treat the lowest ranking member in your organization? That is the picture of culture that people experience." ~ Julie Diamond Julie Diamond, CEO, and founder of Diamond Leadership joins us in this second part of this three-part series looking at the value and cost of culture for organizations going through transition and growth. Julie dives into the way power-specific assessments can be a useful diagnostic tool in looking at culture through everyday work behavior and insight into drivers for cultural health: job satisfaction, turnover, and retention. The practical and actionable insights Julie brings through her work make this podcast a must for anyone interested in working for organizational health, DEI, and combating burnout. She has spent her entire career creating transformational growth experiences for leaders and organizations around the world for Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, labor unions, and international NGOs. She is the developer of Power Intelligence®, a framework and set of competencies for helping leaders understand how to use power and authority with greater impact and effectiveness. Her special passion is to help leaders not only be their best but be able to bring out the best in the people they lead. In this episode of the Beyond Listening Podcast, Miriam and Adam (co-founders of We are Open Circle and hosts of the Beyond Listening Podcast) reflect on the value of their mistakes with real-life examples. They share reflections on how valuing mistakes can lead us towards avoiding the pain of "shoulding ourselves to death," and making meaning out of shame, righteousness and everything in between.
This is the story of Tracy and Georgia. Today Tracy shares with us her youngest daughter Georgia, a beautiful soul, a spark of light, a loving, fun filled, compassionate and kind person with a huge heart warming smile. Georgia's big heart enveloped her family, friends and she had a special place in there for animals too- any human or animal to experience Georgia's love was a lucky being! Georgia had a full life and touched many people far and wide. Sadly her life ended shortly after a motor vehicle accident, with her boyfriend Josh, just before she turned 16. The circumstances surrounding the accident buried her family in another layer of grief. Tracy shares with us how the very essence of Georgia has aided and guided her through this journey of grief and life after the accident. Tracy also gives an insight into restorative justice and her experience in the Open Circle program. We hope a little of Georgia's light touches you all through Tracy. When Jonathan Gustin was around 12 years of age, he was enthralled by a 1970s’ television show that featured a blind Buddhist priest teaching a boy his age about enlightenment and duty. “I would live for these scenes where the priest gave the boy spiritual instruction!” he recounts. That early fascination with enlightenment led him to meditation, and travels through China and India in search of a master. Then, at age 20, he found himself on a solo meditation retreat for three weeks in a log cabin in Northern Ontario, Canada – “alone in wild nature” with “no human company, no distractions, just wild nature and meditation practice.” During the self-retreat, between periods seeking transcendence through meditation, he slipped into another more worldly, but equally profound, contemplation: “What is my place in the world?” he asked. “All at once, an image arose, like the scratchings on an ancient wood block, I saw a scene of a person (me) supporting the birth of a person’s full self,” he later wrote. “The two words that arose alongside this image were, Whole-person midwifery.” Through decades of study and practice, Jonathan eventually learned how to become the image that was revealed to his 20-year-old self. He now is a purpose guide, psychotherapist, meditation teacher, and integral mentor in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 25 years, helping midwife the birth of a person's full self. He combines all three disciplines – meditation, psychotherapy, and purpose guiding – to support individuals seeking to answer the question that came to him in that Canadian log cabin: "what is mine to do in the world?" He helps navigate them in the journey toward wholeness through what he calls the “three worlds” of the human experience – the “upper world” of spirit seeking transcendence and enlightenment through practices such as meditation (“waking up”); the “middle world” of personality and ego seeking emotional healing through practices such as psychotherapy (“growing up”), and the “lower world” of soul seeking embodiment and offering gifts to others through soul work practices (“showing up”). He has been referred to by a luminary peer as a “rare example of a seasoned meditation teacher who understands the spiritual necessity of the descent to soul and sacred darkness — as well as the ascent to the light and the One. He guides his students in both directions, down as well as up.” Jonathan teaches that Purpose Guiding breaks the spell of our default purposes of safety, security, comfort and outward success, and orients us towards our true purpose, which is to embody our unique calling within. He passionately and skillfully invites his students to this contemporary Koan, “Where do I belong in the ecology of life?” – or, as Frederick Buechner famously wrote about life’s calling: “Where does my deep gladness and the world’s hunger meet?” Jonathan writes that finding our purpose is not a choice. It’s a discovery. We can co-create the expression of our purpose, which is where originality and joy happen, but the core of purpose is that we receive it. It is a spiritual revelation from the soul – not a stated desire of the ego – and arrived at largely by subtraction of all that is non-essential, not through formulation or addition of goals and desired impact. It is the “deepest conversation you can have with life,” he says. Jonathan is the founder and lead teacher of the Purpose Guides Institute and Green Sangha, and co-author of Purpose Rising: A Global Movement of Transformation and Meaning with Ken Wilber, Erwin Laszlo, Bill Plotkin and others. He also serves as adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University in the Consciousness and Transformation Studies program. He has taught at the California Institute Of Integral Studies, Green Gulch Zen Center, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Open Circle, Bay Area Integral, The Nondual Wisdom & Mental Health Conference, iEvolve, San Quentin State Penitentiary, Marina Counseling Center, and iRest Institute. "Having the mind of Christ is a way of knowing from a heart motivated by love, demonstrated by emptying ourselves and letting go of our position and privilege and everything we think we're entitled to and deserve, doing this all on behalf of others and on behalf of the entire world."In your own words, what does it mean to have the mind of Christ?//Philippians 2:5-11Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.//This episode was written and recorded by Matt Laidlaw, the Director and Lead Teacher at Open Circle in Grand Rapids, MI. Nici Harrison, Founder of The Grief Space joins me to chat about her apprenticeship with grief. Nici has had an incredibly empowering journey with grief and discusses how the fear of grief and the barriers we put up to resist feeling grief, is worse than feeling grief itself. Nici states 'We believe grief is going to break us, when in fact it breaks us open'. In this episode we talk about grief in our society and how absent it is in our culture which is so driven by growth and positivity that we've lost our ability to hold the space for grief and those grieving. This is our follow up interview after our first podcast on Yogic Lifestyle and Living in Alignment episode. I wanted to talk to Belinda more about Goddess Circle, Women Rite of Passage, and building a community of women supporting other women. We also touched on the beauty and joy of women retreats she leads in North India, South India and Japan that include travel, yoga and wellness. Belinda O'Dea is a heart-based certified Yoga & Meditation Teacher in Hatha, Mantra, Tantra, Vinyasa and Yin yoga. She is also an accomplished fashion designer and she is passionate about yoga, travel and wellness and that's why she now takes women on beautiful retreats several times a year to North India, South India and Japan. She is originally from Australia and currently a citizen of the world. Belinda is an experienced Women's Circle Leader where she creates a safe, welcoming and inspiring space for all women to participate, to feel the connection and the importance of the sisterhood. She also offers personal or business 1-1 mentoring for women as well. Interview Summary & Highlight What is a Women Circle or Goddess Circle? Magic happens in a women circle when we form a community of support with transformation, opening, speaking from our hearts and listening. It creates a very safe space for women without judgment. Whatever happens in the circle stays in the circle, there is a lot of opening and sharing There is a set of agreements to keep the circle to feel safe and scared. It sets the tone of non-judgement and it is not a public speaking platform. It is about speaking from your own feeling inner experience but there is no obligation to speak either. Some of the agreements include: we all take a turn to speak, but only one person speaking at a time. There is no jumping in, no fixing or “helping”, just listen deeply and wholeheartedly. As a result, we allow ourselves to free our emotions and express them instead of stopping them from surfacin Women's circle is like "the other sister of yoga" because it's another way of discovering things about ourselves that don't necessarily arise normally. Two type of circles: Open Circle (no fix or set number of members and come with broader questions, e.g. What are you focusing or struggling or grateful for right now?) and Close Circle (it has a fixed number of member each time and come more intimate or deeper questions as you get to know one another e.g. Spiritual Practice of Women's Cycle, Rite of Passage experience, initiation, etc.) Rite of Passage: Birth, Menstruation, First Sexual Experience, Pregnancy (which can also be about giving birth to an important project), Menopause. There is a lot of healing work that we can do retrospectively and there are layers of information and insights at each rite of passage as we explore and dive deeper each time when we reflect on that we’ve experienced. Get to know ourselves in this feminine body, in this female existence, learning how to try and rest into being and accepting who we are through the practice of yoga. 10 Days Women Travel, Yoga and Wellness Retreat: North India - it’s like a spiritual pilgrimage, the retreat is called "Divine Mother India”. South India retreat is called “Living in Alignment”, it’s held at an Ayuverdic retreat centre and it’s about living in a yogic way and Ayuverdic lifestyle with workshops and daily massages and treatments. The retreat in Japan is called "The Art of Femininity", it is a cultural yoga tour where we take on different activities like flower arranging, calligraphy and also doing mindfulness meditation and yoga while staying at a Zen Buddhist temple. I often talk about “walking the walk.” Dr. Shoshana Simons has been doing that for decades. She is a teacher, leader, coach, essayist, activist, and healer. She has a particular interest in the integration of the arts into spiritual practice, social and emotional development, and the uses of performance and creative expression as catalysts for healing and social change. She helps people live with more presence by deepening their connection to the hidden and often actively suppressed truths of life. This conversation is incredibly timely as the world widely and publicly confronts oppressive power structures. The original title for this episode was “Listening for Hidden Truths,” but after further discussion with Shoshana, it became clear that didn't encompass the entirety of our conversation. It is not enough to listen to the marginalized voices within our organizations, our communities. The next step is to elevate those voices and to give them the proper platform so their truths are no longer suppressed. That is the starting point for deep, lasting change. One program you hear us talk about in this episode is Open Circle, which provides evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum and professional development for elementary schools. They proactively develop children's skills for recognizing and managing emotions, empathy, positive relationships and problem solving and help schools develop a community where students feel safe, cared for, and engaged in learning. Founded in 1987 by our mutual friend and colleague Pamela Seigle, Open Circle is now in over 360 schools, 90 districts, and 16 states across the United States and remains a leading educator of the transformative power of authentic listening.Change takes root when we attend to other people's stories, especially those so different from our own. So listen in to this conversation and learn more about what it means to be in a relationship with each other in a way that is healing, empowering and inspiring. We are neurologically hardwired to form bonds with concentric levels of friends, family, and community groups. But these groups are no longer surviving in our 21st century structure. Old, polarizing, fear-based, tribal norms of 'Us vs Them' are driving us apart as we pursue happiness and power. If we're going to live as healthy people and families, we have to claim a new kind of connection to the people who matter most.

Why do we dim the light of our knowing? Why do we give power away to authorities outside ourselves, forgetting that we hold access to direct knowing through the inherent intelligence of our own light of awareness? Perhaps now is the time to consider connecting to the power of self-direction …

The more we hold ourselves back from life, the less we know ourselves as the Totality.

Michele Morris, Distinguished Religious Group Leader to the Fort Hood Open Circle, issued an open letter on religious freedom in the United States military on February 21, 2016. The February 25th edition of The Wild Hunt covered the story. Tonight she joins RevKess and KaliSara to talk about the situation with the listeners of the Pagan-Musings Podcast Channel. It is the hope of the Channel's host team that this coverage will help shed light on what some of our military brothers and sisters face when they attempt to worship and honor their Gods in a safe setting while on base. It is also their hope that other military personnel will hear this coverage and be shown just how difficult it can be to face religious intolerance in the military. After Michele's visit your hosts will talk in brief about the upcoming Super Tuesday primary and caucus next week and other news and issues of interest to Pagans in the United States and elsewhere around the globe. Listen through to the end to catch KaliSara's News in a Flash.
Laura's WebsiteLaura Maxwell’s Story.‘What Spiritualism Means To Me Now.’LauraSupernatural phenomena interested me since childhood. I loved reading children’s books containing ‘ghost stories’, or watching TV programs about ‘ghosts’. If Harry Potter had been written then, I’m sure it would have been one of my faveourites!A few psychic episodes as a child added to the intrigue I felt. My mother had also experienced psychic events since her childhood, but didn’t pursue it seriously until later.By the time I began Secondary School, she felt ready to experiment further. When walking her dogs in the park one day, a Medium approached, telling Mum he saw her potential as a Medium and invited her to a Spiritualist Church in Glasgow, Scotland, where we lived.Very quickly, Mum became totally engrossed by the supernatural. As a new member of the Spiritualist Church, she attended Sunday services, mid week psychic development groups and Yoga classes. She shared everything she learned with me and I also became fascinated. Her heart’s desire was to train in Mediumship and the other Mediums encouraged this, asking her to join an Open Circle to learn to meditate to channel ‘spirits of the deceased’. Mum was keen to develop her abilities of Clairvoyance, Clairaudience and Clairsentience and to learn from other Mediums.Every time Mum booked a Private Sitting for a Life Reading with a resident or visiting Medium, she would buy a recording of the session and we’d listen to it later that day. It amazed me that a half-hour recording could contain so much communication from spirits. Minute details were relayed about our lives. Precise names, places and dates were often given. It was obvious the Mediums weren’t charlatans, falling upon names by sheer chance. They accurately described the physical appearance, personalities and even repeated common phrases of our apparent dead relatives as they supposedly conversed with them.I also joined the Spiritualist Church in Glasgow. Mum and I devoured mystical books on Yoga, opening the chakras, Crystal Healing, Reincarnation, Alternative Therapies, etc. Attending New Age Centres and Psychic Fairs, we absorbed as much information as we could to help in our spiritual enlightenment. With our passion for environmental and conservation concerns, social justice and international peace, we gladly participated in attempting to heal people and animals, through either contact or distant psychic healing. We also read books on positive thinking. A faveourite was, ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’, by Norman Vincent Peale, a 33rd degree Free Mason, who also believed in Clairvoyance, claiming to see his dead dad at meetings.Going DeeperEventually, we attended Transfiguration Sessions. Mum developed in the area of Automatic Writing. Mediums predicted I’d become an author on behalf of Spirit Guides and a Psychic Artist, drawing portraits of ‘dead relatives and Spirit Guides’ for clients. I experimented with Kirlian Photography; using infra red film I captured images of ectoplasm as it formed.Over the next 10 – 15 years, we’d often hear of Mediums who could no longer control when spirits spoke to or through them. Many Mediums had nervous breakdowns. Some attacked people claiming their Spirit Guides had forced them to, or were admitted to psychiatric wards. We heard reports of poltergeist activity in Medium’s homes. At first, we accepted explanations that mischievous or obnoxious spirits could sometimes come through and it was a potential hazard of the job. But when it happened to us, it became difficult to tolerate and almost impossible to function properly. Our beloved friends, the other Psychics and Mediums, kindly tried, but failed to free our home from spirits. The spirits spoke to Mum constantly, depriving her of sleep, attacking her physically, chapping loudly from within wardrobes, slamming all the doors, etc.On one of the occasions when they forced her into a trance against her will, she was frying food. When she came out of trance, the kitchen was consumed by fire. I arrived home after the Fire Brigade had extinguished it, just before it spread to other rooms. We all realized Mum, our dogs and cats could have been killed. One afternoon, Mum’s elderly Aunt who had also visited Spiritualist Churches, felt invisible hands grab her and throw her down our stairs. Her wrist was broken. Another day, while approaching shops, I watched in horror as Mum was lifted from the ground and catapulted from the pavement, landing on the bonnet of a passing car. This particular incident happened more than once.Hellish EncountersWe decided to withdraw from Spiritualism and told our Spirit Guides to leave. To our shock, they laughed and insulted us. They began to physically attack us. This was perplexing, as they had provided guidance and kindness for many years. It became obvious they’d clearly deceived us, pretending to be benevolent, when in reality they were wicked all along. The biggest shock however came when even our supposedly ‘dead relatives’ turned against us. They also mocked and hit us. The spirits warned we couldn’t leave the occult, as we had unknowingly given them control from the first day we invited them into our lives. It became clear to Mum & I there was something not right about Spiritualism, if even the Mediums who had brought our ‘spirit friends’ to us had not discerned their true identity.A Christian EncounterSusan, a Christian I’d met in a Psychology Tutorial, at university, invited me to her Pentecostal Church, explaining other Psychics who had experienced similar tragedies were set free from spiritual attacks when they accepted the Biblical Jesus Christ as their Saviour, (not the New Age false Christ). I renounced Spiritualism & became a Christian.A Darker Tragedy StrikesDuring my 2nd year at university, Mum’s health deteriorated & her ‘Spirit Guides’ threatened to use her to kill people. Mum’s doctor couldn’t accept poltergeist activity & diagnosed as Schizophrenic, Mum was detained in a Psychiatric Hospital, much to the utter shock of my Mum & I.Although my Mum gave her heart to Jesus a few months later, the Pentecostal Church I’d joined had no experience at that point, of helping people like Mum. At that time, they didn’t have the Deliverance Ministry. As a baby Christian myself, I didn’t yet know there were Christians who could’ve cast those demons out of my Mum in Jesus Name. After months of heavy sedation, the psychiatrists discharged her, but when she returned home, she endured further harassment from spirits. Sadly, the church I belonged to didn’t yet have experience of casting demons out of homes or people. So, sadly, my mother committed suicide.Although not rare for someone to do … over the past 17 years I’ve heard of many around the world, affected by the New Age or Occult have been in psychiatric wards or killed themselves. Therefore, I feel it emphasizes the crucial importance for Christians to embrace the Deliverance Ministry, and be God’s instruments to bring freedom to such tortured people in Jesus Name. (Over the years as a Christian, I have been honoured & delighted that the Holy Spirit has used me to see people & homes be set free from demonic harassment/poltergeist type activity, etc). “Greater is He (Jesus), that is in you; than he (satan) that is in the world.”Later, another Pastor more experienced in Deliverance prayer & casting out demons & the co-Pastor, visited my mum’s home, successfully cleansing it the first time they prayed. At the Name of Jesus, all the spirits left & never returned. Later, I sold Mum’s home without worrying the new tenants would be harassed. The Pentecostal Church did not portray dead religious traditions, instead it was lively, loving and joyful. Members are trained by the Holy Spirit to prophesy about the future, bodies are healed and other miracles, signs and wonders occur. Actually, in a couple of years I saw more peopled healed in Pentecostal Churches than I ever saw in over ten years at Spiritualist Churches.Deception ExposedWhen I became a Christian, even before I had read the Biblical warnings of the Occult in Deuteronomy chapter 18, I instinctively realized what had happened. The missing piece of the jigsaw fit into place. When our ‘dead relatives and Spirit Guides’ began to attack Mum and I, it indicated they were actually evil spirits who had deceived us, merely impersonating our loved ones. It made complete sense when Christians explained that it’s impossible for dead souls to return to talk with us, as they remain in heaven or hell for eternity. Also, spirits are evil ‘fallen angels’. They’ve existed since creation, possessing psychic knowledge of our families & historical figures down the generations. They can easily disguise their evil form to pose as our ‘deceased family,’ to mimic ‘Spirit Guides,’ or any famous celebrity that ever lived. The Bible says that the entities who work through Witches, Mediums, Ghost Hunters, etc, are called ‘familiar spirits’, as they are psychic & very familiar with how all your ancestors looked & spoke. Thus, these entities can impersonate them perfectly. The Hebrew word for familiar spirits actually means ‘demon,’ evil spirit. This was confirmed as I read in 2 Corinthians 11 to 14 : “And no wonder! For Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.” The evil spirits working through Spiritualism, serve Satan in deceiving precious people into believing they are their dead relatives and Spirit Guides. This make sense, because many top Mediums even claim that Lucifer is god and the source of all psychic powers! (Benjamine Creme, David Spangler, Madam Helena Blavatsky, etc). They believe Lucifer is still an angel of light; god; the Saviour, and that he did not fall and become Satan, as the Bible states. Thus, Luciferianism is one of the roots of the New Age and Spiritualism. Madam Helena Blavatsky, a self proclaimed Luciferian Medium, was called the ‘mother of the New Age movement’.Before I left the Occult, I was unaware the Bible advises in 1 John 4 verse 1 to 3 : “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God … every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus has come in the flesh is not of God … And this is the spirit of the Antichrist …”(Please see my note with directions on how to Test The Spirits, in the menu bar at the top).A Crucial ObservationSince I left Spiritualism and became a Christian, I have never been contacted by any spirit claiming to be a ‘dead relative’ or ‘Spirit Guide’! All such supernatural activity stopped, when I knew the truth, that they were demons impersonating family or spiritual beings! You’d think, if they were truly real, they’d still try to ‘contact’ me!Sharing With OthersAs a Spiritualist, I had believed Jesus was just a cosmic force; part of the universal consciousness, or a great Psychic Healer. Since my conversion in 1994, I’ve met, spoken to & read of many Ex Psychics, Ex Gypsies, Ex Mediums, Ex Witches, Ex Luciferians, and even Ex Satanists who also discovered the entities of their ‘Spirit Guides’ or ‘dead relatives’ were not who they claimed to be. These people were also set free from demonic attack after receiving Christ into their lives & receiving His deliverance & freedom. Two successful Glasgow Mediums, Sadie Bryce and Geordie Aitken also became Christians. Sadie went to the same Spiritualist Church I did. She spoke of her occult past in BBC programs and an audio tape, while Paul Watson wrote a book detailing Geordie’s experience. As Christians, Sadie and I wrote to each other and I met Geordie several times, discovering we all had been misled by convincing spirits in the same ways.Jesus healed me of fears, phobias and physical conditions. He has given me joy and peace I simply never knew existed. His very tangible Presence of pure love is more real than any powerful encounter I experienced within Spiritualism.Revelation TV, Europe. After sharing my life story in churches, on satellite TV and radio, I’m delighted & blessed to continue to hear from people worldwide, who have also been saved out of the Occult – by the transforming, mighty power of our loving Lord Jesus Christ.Visit her website here.www.seek4truth.tk
As the first and sole intern for Austin Achieve Public Schools in the summer of 2013, one could say that I wore many hats. Hired to create a social and emotional learning (SEL) curriculum (based on my on-campus job at Open Circle), I began my internship endeavoring to build a curriculum for Austin Achieve that not only aligned with common SEL standards, but that fit the needs and hopes of this new charter school system. As with any new charter school, however, my responsibilities expanded in surprising ways—including coordination and oversight of Austin Achieve’s new campus, interim manager of school operations, and development of cultural competency training for staff and teachers. Working with a team of two to seven other staff members over the course of the summer, I learned the value of leaps of faith and the importance of a commitment to educational opportunity for all.
