First up, Revz attempts to explain evolution to her kids and (cough) herself. Gem has a very specific fact to contribute from a very specific memory and it's relevant, trust us. Revz doesn't have time for the battle she's having with the school band leader and how many weeks till the end of the year? And Gem doesn't have time for an oldie but a goodie; male fragility. Sigh. This week Nicola and Di chat with the entertaining and multi-talented Tottie Goldsmith. Tottie has been part of the Australian performing arts industry for 4 decades, with an incredible career that spans music, film, television, radio and theatre. In the 80s, Tottie became known as Melbourne's IT girl, and was part of the pop group, The Chantoozies. Over the next few decades she appeared on so many iconic Australian TV shows including Young Doctors, Prisoner, Neighbours, and The Sex/Life series to name just a few. Tottie is also a proud mum, a marriage celebrant and the niece of our beloved Olivia Newton-John. In 2020 Tottie was awarded an OAM for her contribution to charity and the performing arts.  In this episode, we hear all about Tottie's unconventional upbringing and some of the incredible stories from her childhood. She was born in the 60s to a legend of the Australian nightclub industry, Brian Goldsmith and the model and actress Rona Newton-John. We hear the heartbreaking story of how Tottie's mum left her and her 2 siblings, when Tottie was only 2.5, to pursue a career overseas and the huge impact that had on Tottie's life.  Tottie opens up about the absolutely beautiful relationship that she had with her aunt Olivia, who was always looking out for her and loving her in ways that her mother wasn't able to. Olivia was a true angel in Tottie's life.  Not only that, but we hear some fun stories from Tottie's love life and the lessons she's learned along the way through the relationships she's had. Tottie is someone who really has done a lot of work on herself, and is committed to continuing to learn and grow. It's inspiring to listen to. We had so much fun in this chat with Tottie - it was absolutely like having another girlfriend with us over the back fence. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.  Follow Tottie on IG here Support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre here Find out more about Tottie's work here Follow Nicola and Di on IG hereSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Chantoozies had enjoyed an amazing run from their inception to the release of their debut album, but behind the hit singles and high rotation music videos, tensions were simmering. A split down gender lines developed — a situation that was exacerbated by a relentless touring schedule and some members not feeling they had enough say. The band members talk candidly about their disagreements and artistic differences, as well as the romances that existed between Eve and Brett, and Angie and David. Tottie and Scott also explain their reasons for leaving the band ahead of 1989 single "Come Back To Me", while David reveals what motivated him to quit after that track's release. Then, we hear about the decision to sack Brett and Frank, and reconfigure as a three-piece girl group. After all the upheaval, the new-look band scored a welcome hit in 1991 with a remake of "Love The One You're With", but split within a year. Reunions followed in the decades since, and these days, Ally and Eve keep the Chantoozies name alive as a duo.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: chartbeats.au@gmail.com

She co-founded and curated an array of successful club nights, festival stages and multidisciplinary events, signing critically acclaimed and gold selling artists along the way. Tottie is director of events and special projects at DUBLAB and curates music, art and cultural programming that reflects the diverse landscape of the city working with an array of institutions, collectives and brands. Both are avid music collectors with a focus on leftfield disco, house, techno, world music & ambient sounds. Sisters Of Sound will release their first compilation in Spring 2020; a new mixtape series showcasing new tracks from some of the most groundbreaking international female and female identifying talent. Artists involved in the release include Minimal Violence, Nightwave, Via App, rRoxymore, Nene H, Maral, Ivy Barkakati, Masha, C Love & Hinako Omori. The release will be accompanied by a North American tour and selected European festival dates. Opening with The Gagosians called Run For My Honey—a retro futuristic, 4 minute Rock’N’Roll Drama full of narcotic synths and deformed blues guitars. We picked this up on a trip down to see our guys at Pacific Beach Vinyl in San Diego last year. Following is 2 hrs of new beat and synth oddities, breaks and seductive up-tempo house. We included some of our favorite producers of late, rRoxymore, C Love, Chaos in the CBD, Urulu, Flora FM and Desert Sound Colony…. its definitely a mix to get you warmed up for the rave but also a bit of an odyssey. Book-ending with our dear friend Damon Eliza Palermo, and his ambient closer Uplands released on Acid Camp’s All Stars 1 Comp. Enjoy! We play dusk till dawn Saturday 22nd - 10-11.30, see you at the front.

But now the real question becomes, is what we deem #Goals really what we should aim for? What does it all actually mean? And is the success we desire worth our sanity.    In Episode 44, Natasha sits down with her long TIME best friend of 10 years, Industrial Engineer and Travel Enthusiast, Regina Long to discuss the many complexities in friendships and if in fact we really do know the people right in our circles.    This episode dives head first into our thoughts on what may lead to suicide, depression and how as sisters, mothers, aunts and friends we can become more aware of the serious battles our loved ones are facing so that we can make the commitment to creating more safe environments where people can scream help if necessary. Peace, Love, and all that good stuff! WoS – Moxie – Courage; nerve; determination QoS – For every minute you remain angry, you give up sixty seconds of peace of mind. Off-Topic – Movin on up, to the eastside | Florida about to change the game | NBA Youngboy hittin his girl Topic – The Progressive Oppressive Mindset ~The Progressive Oppressive Mindset is the type of mindset who looks to break barriers (race, gender, inequality, etc.) and influence change but does by trying to band together and force the hands of the oppressor through the use of boycotts. ~The more knowledgeable we become in this world the more we look for equality. This means what ever our white brothers and sisters get we have to either meet that or surpass that. And if we are lowballed we are quick to pull the race card, gender card, and any other card that can start a ongoing conversation. ~ This happens across the board but more specifically I’m speaking exclusively on the African community. The most current happening of this is the whole Monique Vs. Netflix situation. ~When Monique didn’t get what she wanted money wise she decided to call out Netflix claiming gender and race bias as well as calling for a boycott. ~Gender/race bias are present today but every time we don’t get exactly what we want we cant just pull those political cards thinking that these white corporations are going to jump. The only thing that makes them move is money and competition. ~ Looking to change what they are doing that you see is wrong is the progressive side working for the better of all that comes behind you BUT doing that by calling for boycotting in hopes that white corporate America will even budge is the oppressive side at work thus you have the progressive oppressive mindset. Break | WYD x Nowell Major Topic – Motherly Duty vs. Parental knowledge ~Does a mother have right to ask her child’s father how he knows his child’s social? ~I think asking a father how he knows something about his child is blatant disrespect ~I can see if he is a dead beat and wants nothing to do with his child but if he isn’t and you still feel the need to ask that, I think it is a clear slap in the face. ~People are shady and use their child’s social for bills and cable and such but whose to say the mom wont do the same thing ~The only time I think that question should be asked is if a parent is asking for the social security number out of the blue so now you need to question as to why he/she is asking for it, what they need it for, and so on. ~But to just ask how you got your child’s social is disrespectful to a responsible father doing what he needs to do in order to take care of his child. ~Motherly duty is to protect and provide and so is the fathers and I think it is common parental knowledge to have access to your child’s important information, period. She loves educating and entertaining her audience through digital, social media, print and TV talent. In whatever she does, making sure she's telling compelling stories is always at the top of her agenda. Paulana has written for ESPN's The Undefeated, Blavity, LearnVest, Her Agenda, Black Enterprise and more. Her resume is quite impressive as she's interviewed some of entertainment's trendsetters from Tracy Y Oliver, writer of the hit movie Girls Trip to Yvonne Orji from HBO's hit TV show Insecure. And to the best part of her entire resume, Paulana loves Jesus, Beyonce and trap music-in that order! Earlier this month, Paulana needed a job so she created ComplexPleaseHirePaulana.com and asked hundreds of her social media friends to retweet "Hey Complex! You've met the rest. Now here's the best. Please hire my friend Paulana as your next anchor." She also went on to post on her own profile stating: "Since turning 26, I've learned to pursue my dreams with reckless abandon. So, I created a site so Complex can hire me." I immediately said out loud and in my head "Yassssss!" So of course I had to RT and also engage in some convo with the genius behind this interesting hire me campaign. The information security field is in desperate need of people with the technical skills hackers have to fill a myriad of roles within organizations across the world. However, both sides of the table are doing horribly when it comes to hiring and interviewing for work. Organizations are doing poorly trying to communicate expectations for a job, there are people going to interviews without knowing how to showcase their (limited or vast) experience, and some people posture themselves so poorly that the hiring managers don’t think the candidates are really interested in the job. This talk takes the experiences of the speakers as both interviewers and interviewees as well as from others within the scene in order to help better prepare hackers to enter (or move within) “the industry” as well as let the people making hiring decisions know what they can do to get the people and experience they need for their teams. Tottenkoph has been hacking for the past 10 years and is currently a security consultant for Rapid7. Tottie has spoken at several hacker cons and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, planning to apply its practices to the hacker and infosec communities. Been lurking about since DEF CON 10, DJing the B&W ball at DEF CON 18 (with quite a few AP pool shindigs and private parties along the way). Panel member at HOPE 5, presenter at a couple of Notacon’s, and some other conferences that are hard to remember what really happened. Having progressed through the ranks to hiring manager and director level, he has experienced the pain from both sides of the hiring process and desires to improve the situation for the InfoSec community.
