(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Sharp rise in persecution of Christians in Pakistan A new report from Human Rights Focus Pakistan documented a sharp rise in victimization rates against religious minorities in Pakistan during the first three months of this year. Religious minorities, including Christians, faced more attacks, murders, blasphemy charges, abductions, forced conversions, and forced marriages. Jeff King, president of International Christian Concern, said, “Pakistan's latest wave of atrocities against Christians in 2025 is not an aberration — it's a grotesque culmination of centuries of state-sanctioned brutality and indifference.” As of January, at least 20 Christians have been imprisoned for their faith in the Islamic country. Pakistan is ranked eighth on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Barcelona, Spain looking to close 17 Evangelical churches Evangelical Focus reports that 17 Evangelical churches are facing the threat of closure in Barcelona, Spain. This comes as the local government plans urban development that will affect buildings that churches own or rent. The Evangelical Council of Catalonia warns this could leave thousands of believers without a place to worship. Guillem Correa, the executive director of the group, said, “We understand that the case affects freedom of worship, and what characterizes the exercise of this right is that people can meet in the place of worship throughout the week. Without this, there is no religious freedom and no community life.” Man guilty of targeting churches with fake bombs In the United States, a federal jury returned a guilty verdict last Thursday for a 45-year-old man convicted of targeting churches. Zimnako Salah left fake bombs at churches in Arizona and California in 2023. Authorities discovered he was also building an actual bomb. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “This Department of Justice has no tolerance for anyone who targets religious Americans for their faith. The perpetrator of this abhorrent hate crime against Christians will face severe punishment.” Psalm 5:4-6 says, “For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, nor shall evil dwell with You. The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.” Trump's 90-day pause on tariffs except China President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on tariffs for imports from most nations yesterday. Trump's baseline tariff of 10% remains in place. Meanwhile, much of the additional “reciprocal” tariffs are on hold as countries negotiate with the United States. CNBC carried Trump's remarks on the White House lawn to reporters. TRUMP: “Last year, China made $1 trillion off trade with the United States. That's not right. And now I've reversed it for a short period of time, but we're making now $2 billion a day. Somebody had to do it. “Charles Schwab was here a little while ago, one of the great financial people. He said he's been waiting for 40 years for somebody to do what I did over the last month, and if you didn't do it, you wouldn't have a country. It wouldn't be sustainable. “So, I'm honored to have done it. Nothing is over yet, but we have tremendous amount of spirit from other countries, including China. China wants to make a deal. They just don't know how quite to go about it. They're proud people. President Xi is a proud man. I know him very well, and they don't know quite how to go about it, but they'll figure it out. They want to make a deal. “We have many other countries, as you know. Many more than 75. They're all calling, ‘How do we do this?' They all want to make a deal. I did a 90-day pause for the people that didn't retaliate, because I told them, ‘If you retaliate, we're going to double it.' And that's what I did with China, because they did retaliate.” Indeed, China was the one country which is not getting relief. Trump said he would raise tariffs on imports from China to 125%. TRUMP: “They will be fair deals for everybody, but they weren't fair to the United States. They were sucking us dry, and you can't do that. We have $36 trillion of debt for a reason. People took advantage of our country, and they ripped us off for decades.” Stocks surge U.S. stock markets surged in response to Trump's 90-day pause on tariffs. The S&P 500 rose 8.5% yesterday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up over 7%, and the Nasdaq Composite surged 11%. Big tech companies led much of the stock market rally. Nvidia stock was up 15%. Tesla was up 17%. And Apple, Amazon, and Meta were up about 10%. Lowe's closes on Resurrection Sunday Lowe's is closing its stores nationwide for this coming Resurrection Sunday. The home improvement chain will close its 1,700 locations on April 20 and give its 300,000 employees a paid day off. Lowe's CEO Marvin Ellison said, “In recognition of our teams' continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones.” It's the sixth year in a row that Lowe's has done this. Send a thank you note to Marvin Ellison to let him know you appreciate that. Send it to: Marvin Ellison, Lowe's, 1000 Lowe's Blvd, Mooresville, NC 28117. 66% of U.S. adults have made a personal commitment to Jesus And finally, George Barna released its State of the Church 2025 report. The study found 66% of U.S. adults say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that is still important in their life today, That's up from 54% in 2021 but similar to what it was 20 years ago. This growth was fueled by young people, especially young men. Sixty to seventy percent of men from the Gen Z and Millennial cohorts said they have made a personal commitment to follow Jesus that is still important today. However, many who made these commitments don't necessarily identify as Christian, indicating a patchwork of religious beliefs and identities. Lamentations 3:40-41 reminds us, “Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the LORD; let us lift our hearts and hands to God in Heaven.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, April 10th, in the year of our Lord 2025. US President Donald Trump comments on the poor state of appearance of the three Israeli Hostages released on Saturday. President Trump: “They are in really bad shape, they have been treated brutally, horribly. Even the ones that came out earlier, they were in a little bit better shape, but mentally they were treated so badly. Who could take that? “You know, at some point, we're gonna lose our patience.”3. IDF continues strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Israeli fighter jets carried out several airstrikes in Lebanon on Sunday evening, including against a tunnel between Lebanon and Syria used by Hezbollah to smuggle arms. Additionally, the Israeli Air Force targeted several Hezbollah sites in other areas of Lebanon, which included weapons and rocket launchers that “posed an immediate threat” to Israel.4. Secretary Hegseth said that in addition to rooting out waste, fraud and abuse, the Pentagon needs to slash hierarchies and layers of bureaucracy that aren't serving the military. That could also involve a reduction in the number of four-star generals and flag officers, he said. “We won World War II with seven four-star generals. Today we have 44. Do all of those directly contribute to warfighting success? Maybe they do. I don't know, but it's worth reviewing to make sure they do.”

Trump pauses tariffs on Canada & Mexico after pledge to boost border enforcement On Monday, President Donald Trump agreed to a 30-day pause on his tariff threats against Mexico and Canada since America's two largest trading partners took steps to appease his concerns about border security and drug trafficking, reports the Associated Press. TRUMP: “Had a great talk with Mexico. We have to stop fentanyl from coming in, and we have to stop the illegal aliens from coming in.” In the face of a 25% tariff south of the border, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she would reinforce the border with 10,000 members of her country's National Guard. TRUMP: “They've agreed to put in 10,000 soldiers permanently, like forever, 10,000 soldiers at their side of the border and stop fentanyl.” That's why Trump called off that tariff threat for the moment. Mexico's trade surplus with the U.S. is running at $160 billion. The Trump administration had also suggested a 25% tariff on Canadian annual imports of some $430 billion. Initially, the Canadian government responded with a suggestion of a 25% tariff on American goods, currently running at $107 billion. But, on Monday afternoon, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted on X that the pause would occur “while we work together,” saying that his government would name a fentanyl czar, list Mexican cartels as terrorist groups, and launch a “Canada-U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl, and money laundering.” Will Trump's tariff threat persuade China and European Union? Trump has announced a 10% tariff on China on $400 billion of imports to begin today if President Xi Jinping does not demonstrably commit to combat illegal immigration and drug smuggling, reports Reuters. TRUMP: “If we can't make a deal with China, then the tariffs will be very, very substantial.” China's surplus is $270 billion. Europe will not be immune to President Trump's tariff pressure either. He is planning to levy a tariff on the European Union which, at this point, holds a trade surplus of $160 billion with the United States. U.S. Agency for Int'l Development under control of State Dept now Meanwhile, the Trump administration has announced that the U.S. Agency for International Development, primarily responsible for administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance, will move under the direct control of the U.S. State Department. It will no no longer act as an independent agency. USAID spending has run between $15 and $20 billion per year over the last 20 years. It was created in 1961 under the Kennedy administration. In related news, the USAID website was taken down Saturday. Dept. of Defense ends identity months The U.S. Defense Department has announced an end to the sponsorship and support of “Identity Months” through the use of official resources. That will include Black History Month, Women's History Month, and National Disability Employment Awareness Month. The release entitled “Identity Months Dead at DoD” stated that the department would instead “celebrate the valor and success of military heroes of all races, genders, and backgrounds as we restore our warrior culture and ethos.” New York doctor to be arrested for prescribing Abortion Kill Pill A Louisiana grand jury has issued an arrest warrant for a New York doctor who allegedly prescribed abortion kill pills for a pregnant minor who resided in the state of Louisiana. The jury indicted Dr. Margaret Carpenter; her company, Nightingale Medical, PC; and the minor's mother for the felony of administering an abortion-inducing drug to the child. Our students' math scores dropped from 13th place in 2019 to 25th place in the 2023 testing. American 4th graders' scores fell 18 points after 2019, while 8th graders' scores fell by 27 points—the biggest drop since the United States began participating in the test in 1995. Peggy Carr, the commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics, noted what she called the “steep, steep” declines — erasing progress made in previous years. Brazil, South Africa, and Morocco have the worst scores while China, South Korea, Singapore, and Japan lead the world in science and math. But let us all remember that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction..” (Proverbs 1:7) Martyr John Rogers burned at the stake February 4, 1555 And, on this day in history, February 4th, 1555, John Rogers was burned at the stake, as the first Christian martyr under the reign of the English monarch Mary I. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson and Adam McManus Persecution of Christians up in Indonesia The General Assembly of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia has announced growth in the Christian faith in that country. The organization pointed to seven new Christian groups, each with at least 10,000 members added to the list. While the church has grown in Indonesia, the believers' very presence has led to persecution in the Muslim-majority nation where 87% are Muslim and about 10% Christian. According to Persecution.org, the SETARA Institute recorded 217 incidents where religious freedom was violated in 2023. That's up from 175 in 2022. Also, in 2023, places of worship were disturbed 65 times in Indonesia. That was up from 16 incidents in 2017. For example, one local province banned a Christmas choir practice for a Catholic Church earlier this month — requiring permission from the government for this “religious activity.” Syrian president fled country for Russia The Middle East is in more turmoil. After 13 years of civil war, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has fled the country for Russia. Syria's government has been turned over to a rebel faction led by a former Al Qaeda fighter named Abu Mohammad al-Jolani. The new government will be headed by a party espousing hardline Sunni Islamist ideology. In excess of a half a million Syrians have lost their lives in the civil war, and millions have left the country. In God's providence, Iran's influence in the Middle East has diminished greatly, with the loss of an ally in Al-Assad and Israel's crushing of Hezbollah in Lebanon. For now, Iran and Russia are seen as losers, and Turkey and Israel are seen as winners in the ongoing saga. China initiates naval drill off coast of Taiwan Communist China has initiated a third and more significant naval drill encompassing the coasts of Taiwan, reports CNN. This comes after the U.S. approved $2 billion in more arms sales for Taiwan. China vowed “strong countermeasures” to the action, reports the South China Morning Post. He's an anti-capitalist Ivy League grad who liked online quotes from the “Unabomber'' Ted Kaczynski — and seethed in a manifesto, “These parasites had it coming,” reports the New York Post. Officers found a black 3D-printed pistol and a black silencer in Mangione's backpack. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer and Information Science in 2020 The tech whiz, originally from Towson, Maryland, apparently hated the medical community because of how it treated his sick relative. The suspect also may have held a grudge because of his own interactions with the industry, noting an X-ray photo on his X account showing four pins in his spine. Trump on Meet the Press: Liz Cheney should go to jail On Sunday, President-elect Donald Trump was on NBC's Meet the Press, suggesting that jail time might be appropriate for former GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney of Wyoming and others on the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack who pursued prosecution for January 6th protestors back in 2021. He also alleged that the committee destroyed evidence after a year and a half of testimony. Listen. TRUMP: “They deleted and destroyed a whole year and a half worth of testimony. I think those people committed a major crime.” KRISTEN WELKER: “Sir?” TRUMP: “and [former Congresswoman Liz] Cheney was behind it.” WELKER: “Well.” TRUMP: “and so was [Democrat Congressman] Bennie Thompson. And everybody on that committee. For what they did,” WELKER: “Yeah.” TRUMP: “Honestly, they should go to jail.” KRISTEN WELKER: “So, you think Liz Cheney should go to jail?” TRUMP: “For what they did.” WELKER: “Everyone on the committee, you said.” TRUMP: “I think everybody. Anybody that voted in favor …” WELKER: “Are you going to direct your FBI Director and your Attorney General to send them to jail?” TRUMP: “Not at all. I think that they'll have to look at that. But I'm not going to. I'm going to focus on ‘Drill, baby drill.'” WELKER: “When you say that it carries weight though. You've tapped these people to lead the Justice Department and FBI.” TRUMP: “They can do whatever they want.” WELKER: “Okay.” TRUMP: “Biden can give them a pardon if he wants to, and maybe he should.” But Trump said, the decision to prosecute Liz Cheney would be left to his Attorney General appointee. Trump eager to issue pardons to most January 6th protestors In related news and in that same interview. President-elect Trump is looking at issuing pardons on his first day in office for those caught up in the January 6th investigations. The Biden Justice Department has prosecuted 1,572 persons in the protest. Over 1,200 of these have pleaded guilty or have been proven guilty in trial. 321 defendants pleaded guilty to felonies and 675 have pleaded guilty to misdemeanors. Here's Kristen Welker with the question. WELKER: “You promised to pardon those who attacked the Capitol on January 6th. Are you still vowing to follow through with that promise?” TRUMP: “We're looking at it right now. Most likely, yeah.” WELKER: “Well, you know.” TRUMP: “Those people have suffered long and hard. And there may be some exceptions to it. I have to look. You know, if somebody was radical, crazy. There might be some people from Antifa there. I don't know. These people have suffered. Their lives have been destroyed.” The degree of violence occurring at the January 6th protest is under debate, however. FactCheck.org notes that no police officers died — while one officer did suffer a stroke and five committed suicide days or months after the January 6th event. In addition, 17 officers suffered injuries during the protests that resulted in loss of days at work. By contrast, some 2,035 police officers were injured during the 2020 George Floyd riots. PoliceMag.com reports that “16,241 protesters and rioters were arrested. Nearly 17% of the arrests were for felonies and 7% of the total involved violence. Many of the cases were quickly dismissed.” New York jury acquits Daniel Penny A New York jury has acquitted Daniel Penny of all charges Monday, reports NBC News. He was the marine charged with manslaughter and negligent homicide for allegedly killing a young man in a subway who was threatening to kill people on the subway, according to witnesses. The victim, Jordan Neely, had an extensive criminal record of 42 arrests. Emotions are running high after the verdict. A New York Black Lives Matter leader, Hawk Newsome, called for vigilantes to kill others “who have attempted to oppress us.” Wherever this applies, let us remember what Jesus said: “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44) Was there an alphabet in the days of Noah? And finally, could there have been an alphabet used for written human communications as far back as the days of Noah? [SEGMENT 2-1] Pelosi blames Biden 1 In issuing an inadvertent and unexpected backhand of Kamala Harris, former US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi blamed Joe Biden for the brutal ass-kicking of Harris by Trump. Pelosi said Democrats might have fared better in Tuesday's election if President Joe Biden had exited the race sooner. And the reason why could be considered both racist and sexist, since Pelosi told the New York Times that "had the president gotten out sooner, there may have been other candidates in the race". What?! Is she saying the Kamala Harris wasn't the best candidate? Consider for a moment that one of the most powerful politicians in Washington just said that neither the sitting President or Vice President was good enough to be the Democrats' candidate. Or to defeat Trump. Yes America, the post-mortem continues by Democrats, as does the finger pointing. And I'm not talking "index" finger. Reeling from losing not only the presidency, but both chamber of Congress last Tuesday, Democrats find themselves in an unenviable position. And sadly for them, they've learned nothing. Because to believe it was their candidate proves they remain delusional. Understand that Pelosi is widely reported to have led the Democrats' push to oust Biden. And he pretty much ended his campaign shortly thereafter. As for Biden's inability to beat Trump, you would have to be crazy to think the man could be Trump, which is why I predicted the Democrats would jettison the old fool after the first of the year. Did Pelosi and team really believe Biden could withstand the gruel of a campaign, given all the evidence to the contrary. [SEGMENT 2-2] Pelosi blames Biden 2 [X] SB – Steven A Smith on their lessons [X] SB – Host of TYT on Biden coverup The man was falling up stairs, and mumbling incoherently routinely. It took Trump practically calling the ref over to call the fight during the debate for Democrats to pull the trigger. But they blame Biden? He was just another punch-drunk fighter who stayed way too long in the ring. Now, if they wanted to blame Biden for anything, it's for picking an Affirmative Action VP. Harris was way ahead of her skis as a VP. So the idea that she could be shoe-horned into the presidency was ill-conceived. And timing wasn't the only reason Harris was picked. Democrats thought Harris could change the "old white guy" narrative with "young Black woman" narrative. But as I warned many times, Americans know inherently that pseudo-Black or Black Leftist women should never be allowed in power. They have no idea how to be discriminant with power, and wield it like a two-year boy learning how to pee in the toilet. I do blame Biden for not stepping down sooner, but then I remember who he is: a failed politico who was given power. If you were one of the worst politicians in history and the cabal put you in power, would you leave without a fight? Biden didn't earn the presidency, but he was told that he had. That fool was stupid enough to believe the hype. And let's not forget that egomaniacal Doctor Jill. You know she didn't want to step down as Play President. Regardless, the Democrats took Biden out in the coup. And he passively aggressively did things to make Kamala Harris' campaign miserable. Back to the snide comment by Pelosi Pelosi told the New York Times: "The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary." An open primary would have involved a number of Democratic candidates competing to be elected by party members to succeed Biden as their White House nominee. Pelosi now believe that Democrats should have had a slugfest. Steel sharpens steel. She suggested to the Times that Harris would have done well in such a primary process and it would have made her "stronger going forward". Or as Harris did when she faced other Democrat challengers in the primary, she could have (ok, would have) folded. And who would the Democrats have selected? Pete Buttigieg? Elizabeth Warren? Josh Shapiro? Gavin Newsom. [X] SB – Don Lemon gets owned by man on Trump They could have selected any of those people as well. But they were forced to honor their Affirmative Action appointee or lose the Black vote. Oh the irony that Democrats lost ground with Black voters. But Pelosi blaming Biden gets better. "And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. If it had been much earlier, it would have been different." No Nancy, the Democrat candidate would have been different. But the result would have been the same. But some Democrats believe as Pelosi does, that Biden should have dropped sooner. “We ran the best campaign we could, considering Joe Biden was president,” said one unnamed aide. “Joe Biden is the singular reason Kamala Harris and Democrats lost tonight.” Speak up, "unnamed aide". There's no reason to hide one's identity at this point. Biden is officially and completely finished politically. And most Democrats would be on the side of this rogue. At this point, Democrats want anything to blame their losses on except the obvious. Their policies suck. But that will be the Republican advantage going forward. It's Thursday, March 7th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Two Christian Pakistanis acquitted of false blasphemy charges Praise God! A judge in Pakistan acquitted two Christians of false blasphemy charges last Friday. The charges from last year sparked a mob of 5,000 people. They destroyed church buildings and sent hundreds of Christians fleeing. The attorney for the acquitted Christians told Morning Star News, "The brothers are free and are with their family now. However, it is not safe for them to return to Jaranwala due to a serious threat to their lives. Though they have been acquitted from the court, there have been multiple instances where people accused of blasphemy have been killed by vigilantes despite being found innocent by the courts.” Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Pakistan, ranked 7th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian. Argentinian President Javier Milei opposes “gender ideology” language Argentina's President Javier Milei is continuing to crack down on so-called “inclusive language” in the government. He has opposed “gender ideology” and the reshaping of language to fit sexually perverted lifestyles. On February 23, the country's military announced it would eliminate inclusive language. And on February 27, a Milei spokesman said the country will “initiate actions to ban inclusive language … throughout the national public administration.” Milei was elected last November and is known for opposing socialism and abortion as well. Donald Trump trounced Nikki Haley on Super Tuesday Fifteen states held their presidential primary elections on Super Tuesday. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump overwhelmingly won the primaries for their respective parties. Biden has 1,500 delegates and needs just over 1,900 to secure the Democrat nomination. No other Democrat candidate secured delegates. Trump won every Republican primary yesterday, except in Vermont, where Nikki Haley won. TRUMP: “They call it Super Tuesday for a reason. (Cheers) This is a big one! “November 5th is going to go down as the single most important day in the history of our country. (claps) And we're going to make it like it should be: respected. Right now, we're not respected. Right now, our country is known as a joke. It's a joke. Other leaders, who I speak to, other leaders can't believe what happened to us. “Because three years ago, we were the most respected country anywhere in the world by far. We were doing things that nobody could believe. China was paying us billions and billions of dollars. In twenty five years, they paid us nothing, zero, not 10 cents. I was getting billions of dollars. And we were respected by everybody. “We had no wars. Remember when I had the debate with Hillary Clinton? She said, ‘Look, look at him. Look at that personality. He's going to cause wars, wars.' I said, ‘No, my personality is going to keep us out of wars.' And that's what happened.” (cheers) Now, Trump has just over 1,000 delegates. He needs 1,215 to win the Republican nomination, setting him on track for a rematch with Biden. Nikki Haley exits race, refuses to endorse Trump Yesterday morning, Nikki Haley, Trump's last major GOP presidential rival in the primaries, suspended her 2024 presidential campaign, reports the Associated Press. HALEY: “I am filled with the gratitude for the outpouring of support we've received from all across our great country. But the time has now come to suspend my campaign. I said I wanted Americans to have their voices heard. I have done that. I have no regrets. And although I will no longer be a candidate, I will not stop using my voice for the things I believe in. “Our national debt will eventually crush our economy. A smaller federal government is not only necessary for our freedom, it is necessary for our survival. The road to socialism is the road to ruin for America. Our world is on fire because of America's retreat. Standing by our allies in Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan is a moral imperative. But it's also more than that. If we retreat further, there will be more war, not less.” After criticizing Trump throughout her campaign for his divisiveness, his age, and his legal battles that she believes will distract him from campaigning in the general election, Haley refused to endorse Donald Trump for president. HALEY: “In all likelihood, Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee when our party convention meets in July. I congratulate him and wish him well. I wish anyone well who would be America's president. “I have always been a conservative Republican and always supported the Republican nominee. But, on this question, as she did on so many others, Margaret Thatcher provided some good advice. When she said, “Never just follow the crowd. Always make up your own mind.' “It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him, and I hope he does that.” Daniel 2:21 says God “changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.” Florida cracking down on woke “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” programs Meanwhile, Florida is cracking down on woke Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. The University of Florida announced last Friday it will eliminate these positions. This comes after the Florida Board of Education said last month that taxpayer funds will no longer go to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion positions. Manny Diaz Jr., the state's education commissioner, said, “Higher education must return to its essential foundations of academic integrity and the pursuit of knowledge instead of being corrupted by destructive ideologies.” Christian martyrdom of Perpetua in 2nd century A.D. And finally, today is the traditional anniversary of the death of Perpetua, an early Christian martyr from the 2nd century A.D. Perpetua was a young mother from a prosperous family in Carthage. She and several others were preparing for baptism to join the thriving Christian community there. However, Roman officials had just started to enforce an edict that banned conversion to Christianity. When given a choice between worshipping the emperor and death, Perpetua and the others held fast to their newfound faith. Officials threw them to wild animals in the local arena before beheading them. Some of Perpetua's last words were, “It will all happen in the prisoner's dock as God wills, for you may be sure that we are not left to ourselves but are all in His power.” In Matthew 16:25, Jesus said, “For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” Watch the 34-minute animated Torchlighters video called “The Perpetua Story” through a special link in our transcript at www.TheWorldview.com. It's Thursday, February 22nd, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark Eight Christians attacked in India by radical Hindus A radical Hindu group recently attacked eight Christians in India's central state of Chhattisgarh. The group beat the Christians in the street as they returned from their weekly worship service. The injured Christians had to go to the Intensive Care Unit, including their pastor. He suffered the worst injuries. And it's not the first time he faced an attack like this. Yet, he has continued to serve his church for years. One local Christian told International Christian Concern, “The persecution has increased after the new Government formed in the state. The Christian community has been going through psychological trauma, as both radical Hindu nationalists and the successful administration of the state target the Christian minorities.” British Parliamentarians opposed a ban on so-called “conversion therapy” Earlier this month, the House of Lords in the British Parliament debated a bill that would ban so-called “conversion therapy.” Christians warn the bill could be used to punish parents, therapists, and pastors who want to help individuals overcome unwanted sexually perverted desires and identities. Remarkably, parliamentarians opposed the bill. The U.K.-based Christian Concern shared, “This was the first time in British history that more politicians in Parliament opposed a conversion therapy ban than supported one. This was also an international first, as this has never previously happened elsewhere either.” COVID vaccine recipients had neurological, blood, and heart-related issues The Global Vaccine Data Network released the largest global study on COVID-19 shots this month. The study looked at nearly 100 million people who got the shot. It covered the countries of Argentina, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, New Zealand, and Scotland. The research found people who got the shot from Pfizer, Moderna, or AstraZeneca had increased risk for certain adverse effects. Adverse events included neurological, blood, and heart-related issues. Trump hinted at possible VP pick On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump spoke at a Fox News town hall event hosted by Laura Ingraham. Trump confirmed several names that are on his vice presidential shortlist. The names include entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard. INGRAHAM: “Are they all on your shortlist?” TRUMP: “They are.” INGRAHAM: “And when can we expect that you will announce your choice.” TRUMP: “Honestly, all of those people are good. They're all good. They're all solid. And I always say I want people with common sense because there's so many things happening in this country that don't make sense. Who wants an open border? Who wants high interest rates? Who wants all electric vehicles?” Capital One is buying Discover Capital One Financial agreed to acquire Discover Financial Services on Monday for $35.3 billion. The deal would merge two of America's largest credit card issuers. If completed, the acquisition would create the sixth largest bank in the U.S. and the largest credit card issuer. The deal would give Capital One ownership of one of the four major credit card networks. The other networks are Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. George Barna: "America needs spiritual renewal more than political majority” And finally, Dr. George Barna released his latest report, titled “America Needs Spiritual Renewal More than a Political Majority.” With the upcoming presidential election, many hope a political leader can unite the country. However, the report noted Americans are very fragmented based on their worldview beliefs: “A majority of adults possess the same points of view in relation to less than one-third of the 53 unique worldview indicators in the Inventory.” Dr. Barna wrote, “Placing the burden of uniting this divided a country on the shoulders of a president or political party is unrealistic. Only a spiritual awakening can usher in the required tidal wave of spiritual wisdom and commitment, and that kind of renewal does not happen overnight or randomly. It must become an intentional and long-term commitment.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” Close And that's The Worldview in 5 Minutes on this Thursday, February 22nd in the year of our Lord 2024. It's Christmas Day, Monday, December 25th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus (Adam@TheWorldview.com) Nigerian Christians mourn killing of teenager On December 20th, Muslim bandits allegedly killed 19-year-old Jude Nicodemus and severely injured two others in Plateau State, Nigeria, reports International Christian Concern. In addition, Fulani Muslim militants grazed cattle on other people's property and destroyed produce that was intended for use at Christmas. Matthew 7:18-19 says, “Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.” Iran threatens to close Mediterranean Sea On Saturday, Iran threatened that the Mediterranean Sea could be “closed” if the U.S. and Israel continued “crimes” in Gaza, reports Reuters. The Iranian government has showed support for Muslim terrorist group Hamas in its war against Israel, while the U.S. has strongly backed Israel — despite growing criticism of the Israeli military's war effort. It is unclear how Iran would follow through on such a threat, as the country has no direct access to the Mediterranean Sea and no major naval presence outside the Persian Gulf. Supreme Court sidesteps decision on Trump presidential immunity Steering clear of a political firestorm for now, the US. Supreme Court said Friday it would not immediately decide the key question of whether Donald Trump has broad immunity for actions he took as president challenging his 2020 election loss, reports NBC News. Without comment, the court denied, special counsel Jack Smith's request asking the justices to circumvent the normal appeals court process and quickly decide the question, which looms large in Trump's prosecution in Washington over allegations of election interference. If Trump were to win on this threshold issue, the charges would be dismissed. If he loses, the legal proceedings in the trial court would continue. Did Trump purposely use Hitlerian language? In a December 22nd interview with conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, former President Donald Trump defended his comments on immigration, while his critics accused him of using Hitlerian language for saying illegal immigrants are "poisoning the blood of our country" during a recent campaign rally, reports The Epoch Times. Listen. HEWITT: “Mr. President, you've also said illegal immigrants are poisoning our blood. What do you mean by that?” TRUMP: “They're coming in from Asia, from Africa, from South America. They're coming from all over the world. They're coming from prisons. They're coming from mental institutions and insane asylums. They're terrorists. “Absolutely! That's poisoning our country. That's poisoning the blood of our country. We have no idea who they are, where they are.” HEWITT: “Your critics say that you are using Hitlerian language that was used to dehumanize Jews by saying that ‘Jewish blood cannot be part of German blood.' Do you have anything like that in mind when you say ‘poisoning our blood'?” TRUMP: “No. And I never knew that Hitler said it either, by the way. And I never read Mein Kampf, [Adolph Hitler's book.] They said I read Mein Kampf.” HEWITT: “So, you intend no racist sentiment whatsoever when you say poisoning our blood?” TRUMP: “If you look at the polls, I'm doing incredibly with African Americans, I'm doing incredibly with Hispanics, the highest numbers anyone's ever seen for a Republican candidate. The reason is they know me. Look what I've done. Criminal justice reform. I got the black colleges and universities funded. Nobody else did that. Opportunity zones with Tim Scott. I got that done.” HEWITT: “Your critics keep saying, ‘Oh, he wants to be Hitler. He's talking about poisoning our blood. He's trying to be a Nazi.' How do you respond to these people?” TRUMP: “I know nothing about him. I'm not a student of Hitler. They say that he said something about blood. He didn't say it the way I said it either. by the way. It's a very different kind of a statement. What I'm saying when I talk about people coming into our country is they are destroying our country. We have prisoners coming in. We have mental patients coming in by the thousands. I believe that number will be 15 million people, maybe more than that, by the time this lunatic, [Joe Biden], leaves office.” Planned Parenthood arranging secret out-of-state abortions A new undercover investigative video reveals that Planned Parenthood in Missouri is smuggling minor girls across state lines to get them abortions in Kansas due to Missouri's abortion ban, reports LifeSiteNews.com. In the first segment of an investigative video series conducted by Project Veritas, Priscilla Jones, the receptionist at the Planned Parenthood in Kansas City, Missouri, asked how old the girl was. JONES: “How old is she?” JOURNALIST: “She's 13. Her parents don't know yet.” LaShauna, the Planned Parenthood Managing Director, added her thoughts. LASHAUNA: “Yeah, we don't do them [abortions] here. We don't know them in Missouri. It's illegal. But we do have, I can give you a packet of the two locations that do it in Kansas. They have people that will come pick them up?” JOURNALIST: “Really? That would be so great. Thank you.” Both Priscilla Jones and LaShauna underscored the ease of procuring an abortion for a minor across state lines without her parents' knowledge. JONES: “If you're trying to do without parents knowing, then you need to call because they need to do a bypass.” LASHAUNA: “They will bypass without the parents. You just have to make sure you tell them that.” JOURNALIST: “What is a bypass?” LASHAUNA: “Just not letting the parents know.” JOURNALIST: “Great. So, I can bring her?” LASHAUNA: “Yeah, you just have to call and just tell them the situation and they'll walk you through everything.” John 8:44 describes Planned Parenthood and its minions to a “T.” “You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Great American Family channel honors God And finally, the older she gets, the more actress Candace Cameron Bure feels called by God to take on projects that align with her Christian faith and inspire the next generation, reports The Christian Post. In April 2022, Bure was announced as the chief content officer for Great American Family, a network the actress says puts God, family and country first, in stark contrast to much of the contact put forth by Hollywood, including the now pro-homosexual Hallmark movies. Bure said, "While not all of the films are faith-forward, you'll see that many of them have little hints of things that people do on a regular basis, like taking time to pray, whether it's praying before meals and before bedtime, or people just honoring God in different ways. Certainly, with our Christmas movies, we remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. The birth of a Savior is why we celebrate Christmas." Bure stars in the Great American Family's new movie, "My Christmas Hero," which pays tribute to the military. I'm Bob Garfield with Episode 22: Live from the War on Christmas.[RADIO STATIC]ANNOUNCER: Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt this program to bring you a special report. Bully Pulpit's Bob Garfield is on the battle lines of a terrible conflict, which is setting the world afire. In the midst of the mad fray, without care for his own safety, Mr. Garfield recounts the sights and sounds of war. We now take you to the North Pole.[THE SOUNDS OF WAR]GARFIELD: This is the North Pole. Last night, some young reindeer fetched me here. These heroes, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid and — with grim and fantastic irony — Donner and Blitzen, describing the very scene that in this benighted duchy now unfolds. The pilot on our journey was called Rudolph, his caribou nose casting light through the smoke and darkness. The team was determined, for here resides the greatest center of holiday production. The shooting of cannon and ack-ack guns, the shrill roar of a diving airship, fills the night with a deathly din.A reporter cannot help but cower in the ruins. The secular humanists, in league with communists and cosmopolitans, are upon us. These are the sounds of the war on Christmas. From my icy shelter (the frozen remnants of a leveled doll factory) the fury seems fantastical. The insurgency began only 13 years ago, in what seemed to be flailing propaganda against a dubious oppression. This is when America first heard from the defenders of Jesus Christ about the godless machinations of the Macy's department store.BILL O'REILLY: This year they are touting Santa Claus who will help you “with your holiday wishlist.” So here's my question to Macy's: What holiday is Santa celebrating? The winter solstice? The birthday of a reindeer? What?GARFIELD: That lowly broadcaster, whose name is now lost to history, used his bully pulpit to speak of conspiracy against not just a persecuted religious minority, but a way of life.O'REILLY: Everything was swell up until about 10 years ago when creeping secularism and pressure groups like the ACLU began attacking the Christmas holiday. They demanded, demanded the word “Christmas” be removed from advertising and public displays, and many people caved into that. GARFIELD: It all began in a series of small partisan skirmishesO'REILLY: I'm like a guerilla fighter in the war on Christmas. You know what I do? I put little shepherds right in front of city hall in my town. Or if I know that there's a secular person in my town or the town neighboring me, I'll put a little baby Jesus on their windshield. GARFIELD: For years he would strike small blows against the Godless conspiracy, then melt away to his sacred country club. But like all guerilla fighters, armed with little but his half wits and audience of seething nativists 5 million strong, he incited rage against the false prophets of basic respect. In time, he would all but vanish from the fight. Smeared by the secularists for merely trying to spill his heroic seed wantonly among the faithful, he retired to a life of falafel and shame. Still the movement grew and grew, gathering the momentum history rewards for the zeal of the righteous. From fellow broadcasters…GRETCHEN CARLSON: I am tolerant! I'm all for free speech and free rights, just not on December 25th!GARFIELD: …to more fellow broadcasters…SEAN HANNITY: Welcome to Hannity. The War on Christmas is upon us again.GARFIELD: …to the emotionally-disturbed imbecile aspiring-dictator community.TRUMP: And speaking of Christmas, you're gonna be saying “Merry Christmas” again, okay? You're gonna say “Merry Christmas.”GARFIELD: Suddenly the dirty gray clouds turn white and the advance grows merciless. The Jews and Muslims and Satanists pour through the outer searchlight defenses. Aloft, a flying machine tumbles toward the pole, ablaze. It is a great, golden, slow-moving meteor slanting earthward. Yellow flares shoot up in bright relief, revealing the airship to be a sleigh, whose desperate escape has been foiled in a hail of flak. The pilot, intrepid Rudolph, with his shiny nose, lights the spiraling path to oblivion. What I am witnessing is a calculated, remorseless campaign of destruction. Now the little men, brave bantams one and all, are ragged and shivering in the final battle wondering what is it all for. They are but elves, laboring amid the chaos to meet quota. Moments ago, just as a projectile burst in the sky, I witnessed a little gnome utter his last words. In the strange argot of these industrious pixies, and in a squeaky impish voice, he declaimed: “FML. We have product to turn around.” And then he fell, his slippered toes curled toward the blazing heavens. [RADIO STATIC]ANNOUNCER: You have been listening to Bob Garfield in an eyewitness report of his experiences at the North Pole. Now I see we have received a telegraphed dispatch from Mr. Garfield. I quote directly from his wire:“The North Pole has not fallen. Repeat: not fallen. [stop]“The advancing cosmopolitans were not waging war against Christmas. [stop]“It appears to have been some sort of celebration, with fireworks, in the spirit of seasonal good tidings that grace the world. The war on Christmas, it must now be reported, is a figment, neither waged nor declared. [stop]“Perhaps I was feverish with Omicron, or brainwashed, but assessing the aftermath what I have discovered is evidence only of a very big party. [stop]“No elves have died. The casualties were limited to an Amazon warehouse, where some workers simply collapsed from exhaustion. [stop]“Christmas is alive and unmolested the world over. The birth of Jesus Christ is on the lips of billions.[CHURCH BELLS]“I can hear the bells. I can hear the bells. [stop]”GARFIELD: All right, we're done here. Bully Pulpit is produced by Matthew Schwartz and Mike Vuolo. Our theme was composed by Julie Miller and the team at Harvest Creative Services in Lansing, Michigan. Bully Pulpit is a production of BooksmartStudios.org. I'm Bob Garfield. Merry Christmas.TRUMP: They are saying “Merry Christmas” again, we got that. That was a big part of what I was doing. I would say it all the time during that period, that we want them to say “Merry Christmas,” don't shop at stores that don't say “Merry Christmas,” and I'll tell you what, we brought it back very quickly. Why do the Democrats keep swinging and missing at Trump? They can’t make a good case for abuse of power because they don’t really oppose Trump’s most egregious abuses of power.

They’re worried he’ll get reelected. Democratic Presidential Hopeful Michael Bloomberg is skipping the early states and hoping his big staff and big spending in states like Texas can launch him to victory. Eighty-two percentage points separated Republicans' (89%) and Democrats' (7%) average job approval ratings of President Donald Trump during his third year in office. Why do white evangelical Christians support President Trump? They delivered him 81% of their votes on election day and consistently give him higher favorability ratings than any other voting bloc. As former Christianity Today editor-in-chief Mark Galli puts it, white evangelicals elected Trump to be their champion. So these were the exact people Galli hoped were listening when he published a stunning op-ed titled “Trump Should Be Removed from Office”. It was a daring departure for the signature publication of white evangelicals and the piece immediately attracted huge amounts of attention. For Galli, the President had crossed a line and he felt it was time his community reckoned with that fact. But will they?RELATED READING:Trump Should Be Removed from Office by Mark GalliThe Scandal of the Evangelical Mind

Welcome to our first virtual episode! This week, Uri and Rivky record from different studios - Rivky in the classic Drive In Productions spot, in NYC, and Uri from the satellite studio in Jerusalem. Uri begins by sharing some observations about his trip - such as, why do so many young, generally progressive, Israeli Jews love Trump? They then dive into this week's topic - Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day, and its flag dance/march/parade. Uri and Rivky work through some complicated feelings about this day and ask, is it off-putting or is it exciting? Is it nationalistic or is it religious? And more! This episode's structure is a little different than you're used to. First join us for 35 minutes as Cass chats with Bonnie from episode 162. They discuss painting murals in her hometown and ethical choices for living on earth, given this is the only one we have. Then eavesdrop on a conversation between Marie and Cass for an hour as they work through the dynamic of the podcast with Marie as the new co-host. Enjoy scintillating topics such as misogyny, tokenism, racism, sexism, intersectional feminism, and patriarchy. Lastly we lament the loss of our recording with Mrs. Betty Bower's creator and writing: Andrew Bradley. Saying yes to what is doesn't always feel good. We interview people you don’t know, about a subject no one wants to talk about. We hope to encourage people in the process of deconstructing their faith and help curb the loneliness that accompanies it. We think the world is a better place when more people live by sight, not by faith. Please subscribe to our podcast, and leave a review wherever you listen to podcasts. First let me say that this is true. It's true to the individual. Maybe also to people groups or even nations. Disagreements, even wars, can be caused by different perceptions that create different realities. The parable of the blind men and an elephant places a group of blind men engaging an elephant for the first time. They each touch a different part of the elephant's body such as the ear, leg, trunk or tusk. They then describe the elephant based on their limited experience and upon insisting that they are right and the others are lying they come to blows. The moral of the parable is that humans have a tendency to claim absolute truth based on their limited, subjective perception as they ignore other people's limited, subjective perception which may be equally true. So while YOUR perception is YOUR reality, it is not necessarily the whole picture. It doesn't mean you're wrong AND it doesn't mean that differing positions aren't also right. When perceptions become mutually exclusive, the opposing parties may be in denial and insist on the rightness of their narrow view. Convincing them otherwise can be extremely difficult if not impossible. We form a bias around a perception and often don't want to be bothered with the facts. Humans once believed that the earth was flat. It must be, just look at it! We thought the sun and stars circled the earth because it looked that way. Galileo was ordered to turn himself in to the Holy Office to begin trial for holding the belief that the Earth revolves around the Sun, which was deemed heretical by the Catholic Church. ... Galileo agreed not to teach the heresy anymore and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. One social research study examined a pool of people’s opinions about federal welfare programs. The researchers found that the majority of people were highly-misinformed about the nature and scope of these programs, and that the people who were the least-informed about them generally expressed the highest degree of confidence in their knowledge. Furthermore, the researchers found that presenting people with facts about these welfare programs did little to change people’s opinion about them. However, in a follow-up study, the researchers discovered that tweaking the way they presented the facts made people respond more positively to the new evidence. In this follow-up, people were first asked to estimate the percentage of the national budget that is allocated towards welfare. Then, they were also asked what percent of the budget they believed should be spent on welfare. Posing these questions back-to-back led participants to contrast their perception of reality with their preferred level of spending, before they were told what portion of the budget is spent on welfare in reality. This meant that most of them had to process the fact that not only is the federal-spending lower than they thought, but it is also lower than the portion of the budget that they believed should be allocated to welfare. Thus the value of agnosticism: It guards against certainty. Much blood has been shed based on certainties that were just not true. Since perceptions can seem like realities, we build narratives which become foundations on which we build assumption upon assumption. When we discover that the assumption upon which all the others were based, it falls like a house of cards. To the degree in which we were invested in that narrative is the degree to which we will be embarrassed and maybe even traumatized. We were living a lie. them that we then act on or even live by. My wife and I were at a music concert once that was general admission. I saw some empty seats and approached them but a guy had his left leg stretched across them. We moved on thinking he was saving them. We noticed that no one ever came to sit there and he was just stretching out, hogging those seats, or so I thought. Turns out he had a full leg cast under his pants and couldn't straighten his leg. I had lunch this week with a friend who shared that she had a lucid dream when she was a young mother where she was visited by a messenger. The message was that her toddler son was going to die before her but not until after her father died. Fast forward 40 years and the woman's father died. That message had haunted her her entire life and now that her father was dead, she was riddled with fear and anxiety that her son was going to die at any moment. She built a narrative on a nocturnal brain fart. Sometimes we give perceptions way too much power and unmerited influence over our lives. My issue with this way of living is that a person is steered by external data. And the key problem there is "steered." Incoming data is unavoidable and amoral. The only person not interpreting events and circumstances is unconscious. However, if one does not have an inner core that is awake, aware and vibrant, they will likely live their life as one with no agency. They're childish. They are tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every conspiracy theory. What Jesus called, "a reed swayed by the wind." For lack of a better word, I'll call this thing the soul of a person. Souless people need to be told what to think, how to act, what to wear, who to be. They have no core. They are robotic, only able to do what their programmer coded. Computers that can adapt and think for themselves are called Artificial Intelligence. Perhaps this soul I'm talking about could also be called intelligence. Intelligence is one's ability to understand something. We're hearing more and more stories of people losing their parents or siblings to Fox News. Two years ago, on Episode 126, I interview Jen Senko who'd made a documentary film called "The Brainwashing of My Dad." If people are hollow inside, a vacuum is created that takes in counterfeit nourishment, pureed baby-food, served up by charlatans and conmen to the laziest, least intuitive minds over which they can easily overpower and influence for their causes--mainly the inflation of their wealth. The condition of soulessness--a person with no agency--fosters a type of insecurity that disables that person from bringing their person authentically into the room, precisely because they don't have one. No soul, no ownership of their ability to discern their world and make choices. Due to non-use, the muscles that empower one to think for oneself are atrophied. And they are preyed on by the greedy. And here we find ourselves. Corporations spotted the credulity of Christians and the GOP and corralled them into their fold to think, propagate, and vote their agenda. Wanna know why a large majority of Christians support Trump? They have no soul. The filled their God-shaped void with God alright. Human's imaginary gods have the substance of cotton candy--they leave you hungry and wanting more, the steady diet of which will make you lazy and fat. I believe there is no void. We're not born with it at least. We create the void by believing that we're not good enough, not worthy, not powerful, insignificant without a higher power. Those of us who left that brainwashing, soul-stealing lie have set out to rediscover our soul, our inner core, that was there all the time. Not so we can get an identity or "find ourselves," but so that we can begin living from that core toward the world, not the other way around. There is no self to find. There's only you showing up in the moment as whatever your soul wants to do or say in real time. No one and nothing should tell you who to be; you already are. I'll close with a prose by David Whyte posted by my friend Fiona. It's called THE SUBVERSIVE SOUL We tend to focus on, and speak about the soul-life of an individual in terms of spiritual comfort and deep nourishment, qualities which are a central, and abiding dynamic of its presence, but the equally unsettling and disturbing quality about this strange, often wild and courageous faculty of belonging inside us we have come to name ‘the soul’ is its ruthless, and almost tidal wish to find its own way to a fuller union with the world. The soul is a planner’s nightmare, the career counselor’s central puzzle, the biographer’s conundrum, the saboteur of the puritanical and the unimaginative; an internal abiding spring that is both a source and a flow: an internal stranger at the door of our outer life about to break everything apart; a pilgrim often suddenly more in love with the horizon than its home; and most disturbingly, someone who would much rather fail spectacularly at their own life than succeed, imprisoned drably by the ordinary, at someone else’s.

Marty Walsh is a college drop-out and recovering alcoholic who grew up in a union household and worked his way up through organized labor and local politics. In many ways, he fits the profile of the kind of white working-class man who put Donald Trump in the White House. He also happens to be the Democratic mayor of Boston, and he has a bracing assessment of the blue-collar white voters backing Trump: They “forgot where they came from.” Walsh says it bothers him how many of the people he grew up with and worked with—or fit that same profile all around the country—support Trump policies. And he talks about what Democrats can do to turn things around. Read more at politico.com/podcasts/off-message
