How do vibrant New York City neighborhoods react to major changes to city life while retaining their historic character? For the next three weeks, we will present three neighborhood-history shows from the Bowery Boys podcast in a new light, exploring how these historic areas survive sudden changes in economic growth, housing needs and tourism. And listen to our prior shows on SoHo and Downtown Brooklyn.Little Italy is the pocket-neighborhood reminder of the great wave of Italian immigration that came through New York City starting in the late 1870s. It was once a densely packed, vibrant district of pushcarts, cheese shops, barbershops, and organ griders, the home to thousands of new immigrants living in aging tenements. The area still contains some of New York's oldest continuously operating shops, from Ferrara Bakery to Di Palo's. But the neighborhood also has a darker history, marked by Black Hand extortion plots and the enduring presence of organized crime.Today's Little Italy remains charming, though it continues to shrink, existing more as a tourist destination than a true Italian enclave. What does the future hold for this important landmark in American immigration history?A version of this show was released in 2015—this newly re-edited and remastered version by Kieran Gannon. But just as we're getting on board with protein-maxxing, a bunch of headlines have started saying the opposite: that eating LESS protein could actually help you live longer. So what's going on here?? Should we be piling on the protein — or pulling back? And could going too low actually be dangerous? Greg Heinz, Senior Director of Brand and Digital Strategy at Optimizely, led the company's rebrand — and he argues AI should amplify creative work rather than automate it away. Recorded live at Opticon 2026 in New York City.A rebrand is repositioning, not a new logo. Heinz walks through the research behind Optimizely's brand evolution, the market signals that made the case internally, and what the company had to give up to make the new promise credible. The line between amplification and authorship gets drawn on purpose. "AI" covers everything from a tool that speeds up a designer to a system that ships work with nobody in the authoring seat. Heinz on where he insisted a person stay in the seat, and why.A brand is proven by behavior, not messaging. What had to change in product decisions, sales conversations, and the digital experience for the new positioning to be true — and what keeps the brand recognizable as one company as the volume of expression goes up.Greg Heinz and Greg Kihlström also get into what changes when the first thing evaluating your brand is an AI system researching on a buyer's behalf rather than a person.About Greg HeinzGreg is a marketing manager with over fifteen years of professional experience in B2B software solutions and services, Healthcare, Sports and Entertainment. In today's episode, Kyle Grieve and Shawn O'Malley break down AppLovin, the mobile advertising platform that went from a failed app recommendation tool to one of the most profitable businesses in ad tech. They walk through how the company makes money on both sides of the ad exchange, why its data advantage has been so hard for competitors to copy, and what caused the market to turn on the stock so violently after a relatively strong quarter. Along the way, they dig into the founder's track record, the buyback program that made early shareholders rich, and whether the growth story still has room to run. T.A. Barron—known as Tom to his friends—is a renowned author, a lifelong conservationist, and someone whose work sits at the intersection of two subjects that are near and dear to my heart: books and the natural world. Tom has written more than 30 books, including the internationally bestselling Merlin Saga, and his newest book, "Naming Nature: A Cabinet of Natural Curiosities for Word Lovers," gave us the perfect excuse to finally sit down together. It's a beautiful, fascinating exploration of the stories behind the names we give to plants, animals, and other parts of the natural world, and I think it's a must-read for anyone who loves nature and loves words—which probably describes most people listening to this podcast. Tom is also a deeply committed conservationist who has spent decades supporting and leading conservation efforts, so as you can imagine, we had plenty to talk about. Tom grew up first in New England and then on a ranch north of Colorado Springs, where watching the surrounding landscape disappear to development helped shape his conservation ethic at an early age. After Princeton and a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford, he initially pursued a career in business in New York City, while waking up at four or four-thirty every morning to write before work. Eventually he realized that those early-morning hours were the happiest part of his day, so despite having already endured plenty of rejection as a young writer, he left a successful business career, moved back to Colorado, and gave writing another shot. More than 30 books later, I think it's safe to say that gamble worked out. Along the way, conservation has remained a central part of his life, including his longtime involvement with The Wilderness Society and many other conservation organizations and initiatives. Tom and I talked about his adventurous parents, his childhood in Colorado, his spectacular early failures as a writer, and the decision to walk away from a successful career to pursue the work that made him feel most alive. We talked about mortality and the importance of using our limited time well; managing the constant barrage of news and social media; optimism, wonder, and our shared love of the natural world; and how Tom became so deeply involved in conservation. And, of course, we dug into "Naming Nature" and some of the wonderfully strange stories behind names like hellbender, sarcastic fringehead, narwhal, praying mantis, elephant, and even the Yeti. We also talked about why names matter, how paying closer attention can lead to caring, and how caring can ultimately lead to conservation. This was a fun, wide-ranging conversation with a thoughtful and endlessly curious guy, and I think you'll really enjoy it. --- T.A. The Left is broken. The usual suspects are sobbing over not the victims, not the victim's family, but the murderer, of course. They're fuming over the cops' response to stop the NYC stabbing woman from killing any more people. And now, in their normal sick fashion, they're making the victim the villain. The victim had just returned from maternity leave, with her newborn at home, but libs believe just because she's white and works at Bank of America, she doesn't deserve sympathy or remorse. The Lindsay Clancy trial is currently deadlocked, with the jury currently unable to agree. She's become a hero to the mentally ill moms out there. Her case is becoming a contagion, spawning possible copycats. Opie, Ron the Waiter, and Erik Marino go off on the dumbest first-aid myth still circulating: peeing on a jellyfish sting. Ron swears his mom did it at Revere Beach. The guys immediately call it nonsense, then somehow land on Lake America, NYC's AI ban, and Ron explaining why we're all advanced souls. 90s album wars, Gallagher brother shit-talk, and why Thom Yorke should just play “Creep” already. Moon kicks things off with random facts, including the slightly unsettling reminder that everything you see technically happened in the past because your brain needs time to process visual information. Humanity's deepest hole is only about 7.6 miles deep compared to an Earth radius of thousands of miles, and apparently hundreds of thousands of people around the world may hit the space bar during the exact same second you do.More importantly, the scientific word for your stomach rumbling enters the conversation, and the crew immediately does what scientists surely hoped humanity would do with that information: turns it into a bit. Then Rafe takes everybody deeper into the cosmic rabbit hole. Looking at distant stars means looking into the past, some of those stars may not even exist anymore, and the Andromeda galaxy we see is essentially an ancient version of itself. We eventually make it all the way back to the cosmic microwave background and the early universe before Moon asks the only question that matters: do you know what movies are playing in theaters right now?And with that, science is over. It's time for Three in Five. The rules sound painfully simple. Rafe gives a category. The contestant gets five seconds to name three things that fit it. No stall tactics, no verbal buffering and no wasting precious seconds trying to remember information you absolutely knew before somebody put you on the radio.Naturally, everything goes wonderfully wrong.Mike in Fenton is asked for three Julia Roberts movies and fires off Pretty Woman, Ocean's 8 and Ocean's 11. Unfortunately, Ocean's 8 creates a minor courtroom proceeding before Mike recovers by naming states beginning with M and actors who played Batman.Matt gets cereal mascots and Saturday Night Live cast members while apparently communicating through technology recovered from an archaeological dig. Somehow, he survives. Then Chris is asked for three TV shows set in New York City and confidently opens with… CHiPs.Yes. CHiPs.California Highway Patrol.New York City. This comedy podcast cannot explain what happened there. We can only document it for future generations.Things become even more legally questionable when Chris attempts to name three Doritos flavors and introduces “spicy taco” into the proceedings. The judges investigate. Mercy is granted. Then he names ibuprofen, Tylenol and acetaminophen as three over-the-counter pain relievers, creating another debate because Tylenol and acetaminophen might be getting suspiciously friendly with each other. Somehow, tickets are still awarded because Moon has apparently decided rules are just another form of audience participation.Lisa joins the game and gives us what sounds suspiciously like the “Pittsburgh Farts” while attempting to name professional baseball teams. The crew loses it, Lisa survives, and we eventually discover she knows her domestic beers extremely well despite preferring Ichiban. Honestly, respect. Then Bill returns seeking redemption after a previous mathematical catastrophe, only to discover that redemption is apparently not available today. Asked to name three laundry detergent brands, Bill gets as far as “Tide.”Goodbye, Bill.Jordan struggles with NFL teams and St. Louis landmarks, giving us “the Arch, the River…” before the five-second clock claims another victim. At this point the game has stopped being trivia and become a controlled experiment studying what happens when humans experience extremely mild pressure. Finally, Brad attempts to end things on a high note with refrigerator condiments, solo artists known by one name, and holidays that get you a day off work. Naturally, even that creates debates over Elvis, Bowie, Veterans Day and what exactly constitutes a universally recognized day off.Throw in AC/DC and Foo Fighters tickets, Shinedown, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, refrigerator hot-sauce organization, missing Milk Duds and a shocking amount of leniency from Moon, and you've got another comedy podcast that started by contemplating the age of the universe and ended by arguing about condiments.Science taught us that looking into space means looking into the past.Three in Five taught us something even more important:Never judge someone for freezing on an easy question until Rafe puts a five-second timer on you.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Then we head overseas as the U.S. strikes Iranian IRGC targets, Iran threatens retaliation, President Trump calls on the Iranian people to rise up, and Scott Bessent unloads on the IRGC, sanctions and the American media's coverage of Iran.Plus, Hamtramck's LGBTQ pride flag controversy erupts again, a congressional hearing on birth tourism gets heated, and a father delivers emotional testimony about losing his daughter in a crash involving an illegal immigrant.Milo Yiannopoulos complains about his treatment by ICE before getting grilled over his marriage and finances, Mark Carney asks the internet to stop making memes—which goes exactly as expected—and the House votes to denounce socialism. Then things get even stranger: Abdul El-Sayed drops an incredibly awkward campaign dating video, AOC reveals she wouldn't date a conservative, and leaked political recordings create headaches for candidates. We also break down the latest Lindsay Clancy trial developments after the jury becomes deadlocked. The Brussels Diamond League final is coming up, World Ultimate Championships in Budapest is in nine days, and the season is headed toward its conclusion. Preet went from Zurich to Bellinzona for the last qualifying weekend, interviewed Coach Laurent Mewly (Femke Broeders-Bol's coach), and is heading to Brussels tomorrow.Discussed in this episode:– Nadia Battocletti runs 3:57 at Bellinzona — Italian 1500m national record. Her range of personal bests across the 1500m, 5K, and 10K is comparable to Hellen Obiri.– Gracie Morris — moves from Puma to Mike Smith's Swoosh TC group: Preet spoke to her in Bellinzona. She explained that the Puma group has become increasingly marathon-oriented (with Dorcas Ewoi as the one 1500m athlete staying). Morris didn't want to wait for that transition, so she moved to Mike Smith and started doing double threshold.– Sabastian Sawe withdraws from the Berlin Marathon due to a stress fracture in his right tibia: This eliminates any remaining fall marathon options. Valencia, where Yomif Kejelcha will attempt to go sub-2 again, is off the table. This is Sawe's second injury in 2026 (he was dealing with something coming into London but recovered in time).– Sydney Marathon results — second year as an Abbott World Major: Adisu Gobena wins the men's race in 2:04:42, breaking the course record. He's 21 years old, debuted at 19 in Dubai, and previously beat Conner Mantz at the Houston Half. Peres Jepchirchir wins the women's race in 2:18:31 by nearly four minutes.– Athlos NYC — canceled: Statement from Alexis Ohanian cited athlete feedback. Laurent Meuwly posted a pointed response on Twitter: athletes who prioritized their welfare by declining lost the chance to compete at the London date too (because participation was tied to both), and that the realization came very late.+ Brussels Diamond League Final preview.____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSOLIPOP: OLIPOP's Citrus Rush packs apple, lemon, lime, and orange juices with 60mg of green tea caffeine for a bold, refreshing blast of flavor ready to fuel your next adventure. 878. A tick bite you may not even remember getting can leave you unable to eat a hamburger, a slice of pizza, or a bowl of ice cream. That's alpha-gal syndrome, and it's turning up far outside its original range.Alpha-gal is a sugar molecule found in the cells of most mammals but not in humans. When a lone star tick injects it under the skin, the immune system can start treating it as a threat. After that, beef, pork, lamb, venison, and sometimes dairy or gelatin can trigger a reaction three to six hours later, which is a big part of why this food allergy goes undiagnosed for years.Today, Monica breaks down what the research actually shows:Why the lone star tick's range is expanding into the Midwest, the Northeast, and eastern CanadaHow alpha-gal syndrome differs from Lyme disease, and why they get confusedWhat the CDC's estimate of 450,000 cases means, and why the "1 in 4" figure circulating on social media isn't measuring the same thingWhat a diagnosis means for your diet, including collagen, gelatin, organ meats, and why tolerance varies so much from person to personWhy symptoms can be worse on some days than othersWhether the condition is permanent, and what happens to antibody levels over timeHow to lower your risk of tick bites, per the CDCWhere gene-edited GalSafe pigs fit into the pictureNew to Nutrition Diva? On Episode 282 of The Lawyer Stories Podcast, Benny Gold sits down with Rob Martorana, Head of Partnerships at Theo Ai, for a fascinating conversation about artificial intelligence, litigation intelligence, case strategy, and the future of legal technology. Rob brings a unique perspective to the conversation. His career has taken him from serving as an Assistant District Attorney and practicing law to years in litigation finance and now the rapidly evolving world of legal AI. We discuss the technology and investment gap between the plaintiff and defense bars, why defense litigation has historically been difficult to standardize, and how AI can help legal teams better understand massive amounts of litigation data. Rob also shares his perspective on case valuation, settlement benchmarking, litigation finance, risk and exposure analysis, and how technology may change the way lawyers evaluate and manage cases.

The company shattered original projections, with accelerating organic growth, expanding margins, and exceptional capital efficiency. Despite acknowledging the business quality, the hosts discussed whether the original decision reflected a flawed investment process or was the natural outcome of applying a strict investment framework. – Greg Kelly examines the deadlocked jury in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, questioning the disturbing online fandom surrounding Clancy and comparing it to the supporters who rally behind other accused or convicted killers.  – Kelly takes aim at Democrats' association with Hasan Piker and Abdul El-Sayed, arguing that Piker's controversial comments about America and Israel leave Democratic candidates with plenty of explaining to do heading into the midterms.  – A deadly stabbing and police shooting in Times Square leads Kelly to contrast today's New York City with the safer era he credits to Rudy Giuliani, Mike Bloomberg and Ray Kelly, arguing that Democratic leadership has allowed “Crime Square” to return.  – Marcus Coleman and his daughter Delilah join the show after Coleman's emotional Capitol Hill testimony supporting stricter commercial-driver licensing and English-language requirements following the devastating crash that leaves Delilah with a traumatic brain injury.  – National Police Association spokesperson Betsy Brantner Smith discusses crime and policing in Democratic-run cities, while Kelly closes with new U.S. military strikes against Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets as American forces continue operations across the Middle East.
