An initiative to raise $500 million for Team USA by the 2028 L.A. Games has brought in a record donation. Correspondent Gethin Coolbaugh reports.

Here are 3 big things you need to know—   One — President Trump says a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin was highly productive.  The President says both men agreed that the Russia-Ukraine war needs to come to an end.  Trump says the two will work closely together on negotiations including visiting each other's nations at some point.    Two ---- The Trump administration is rescinding the Biden Adminisration's rules related to N-I-L revenue-sharing payments to male and female college athletes. Just before Biden left office, the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights said schools could be in violation of Title Nine if they didn't hand out revenue-sharing payments proportionately to men's and women's sports.  Now schools can distribute money to the sports they believe have the most value.    And number three —   Trinity Health Ann Arbor says an anonymous donor has given the hospital ten-million-dollars for a neurosciences institute. Construction on an expansion will begin this year and should be completed in the spring of 2026. The expansion will include new outpatient dementia and Alzheimer's care.

An innovative agriculture literacy program at the University of Calgary has secured a $1 Million donation from BMO. The Simpson Centre for Food and Agriculture Policy at the university's School of Public Policy says the donation will support the launch of the Agriculture Literacy for Healthier People and Planet program. The initiative will address the complexities of agricultural systems while emphasizing the pivotal role food plays in human health and environmental sustainability. Dr. Guillaume Lhermie, Director of the Simpson Centre, says the program is designed to educate the public about where food comes from. “It will reach a broad range of audiences, including formal stakeholders such as research, industry, and government, as well as informal audiences such as consumers and citizens,” says Lhermie. “We are particularly focused on engaging young adults and teenagers who are active on social media and eager to participate in shaping the future of food systems.”

Eyebrows have been raised following the revelation that prior to his visit, the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE),  Sheik Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, donated R20-million to the Eastern Cape government to enable it to upgrade the airport where he and his entourage landed. As a fiscal conservative, it makes my blood boil to see liberal hypocrisy around money, especially their outrage over whose money they deem acceptable and will accept. Donations from convicted criminals like Jeffrey Epstein are welcomed with open arms, while donations from Republican supporters are met with protests and outrage. Why should it matter who donations come from when donors don't have any say about where the money goes or have any input into university policy?  This week I address the liberal uproar over hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin's $300-million donation to Harvard and how his support of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis exposes elitism and hypocrisy.  I highlight known hypocrite Elizabeth Warren who was hired as an adjunct professor by Harvard because of her Cherokee heritage (which turned out to be an exaggeration) and advocates for free college tuition despite accepting a $400,000-a-year salary. I explain how donations to universities work and donors' role in setting university policies.
