It’s been a year since Donald Trump won the elections. And last week, voters elected candidates that are far from what Trump represents. Democrats made history in New York City, and they won big in places like Virginia, California, and New Jersey—and Latinos and Latinas, as usual, played a big role. But these victories don’t necessarily mean Democrats are poised to sweep in future elections, including the 2026 midterms. A panel of journalists discuss how the elusive so-called Latino vote influenced the most recent elections, and what lessons the Democratic Party should learn. Latino USA is the longest-running news and culture radio program in the U.S., centering Latino stories and hosted by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Maria Hinojosa. It's famous for elaborate floats and huge character balloons that bob above the streets as the parade marches forward. Millions of people watch the parade live in New York City each year, but many many more watch it on TV. And some of you have questions! How do they make such big balloons for the parade and how do they choose which characters to feature? And how do they hold onto the balloons with such tiny strings? And, more generally, how do balloons float? What's helium got to do with it? The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has brought joy and sparkle to Midtown Manhattan since the early 1930s. The annual festivities may seem steady and timeless but this holiday icon actually has a surprisingly dramatic history.Millions tune in each year to watch the tree lighting in a music-filled ceremony on NBC, and tens of thousands more will crowd around the tree's massive branches during the holiday season, adjusting their phones for that perfect holiday selfie. But the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is more than just decor. The tree has reflected the mood of the United States itself — through good times and bad.The first tree at this site in 1931 became a symbol of hope during the Great Depression. With the dedication of the first official Christmas tree two years later, the lighting ceremony was considered a stroke of marketing genius for the grand new “city within a city” funded by JD Rockefeller Jr.The tree has also been an enduring television star — from the early years in the 1950s with Howdy Doody to its upgrade to prime time in the 1990s.Join Greg for this festive holiday history featuring kaleidoscopic lighting displays, painted branches, whirling snowflakes, reindeer and a very tiny owl. Please enjoy this newly edited and remastered version of our 2021 show on New York City's most famous Christmas tree and the surprisingly fascinating story of how its annual lighting became a national event. Filmmaker Natalya Murakhver has recently released her new documentary “15 Days: The Real Story of America's Pandemic School Closures.”It shows the devastating effects that remote learning had on children and families. What was the true impact of the school closures on a generation of children? How can we begin to measure it?“Viewers will bear witness to the stories of the people who experienced the closures directly. The film was shot almost immediately following the closures. We started in 2022, so the pain was still extremely raw,” Murakhver says.“I felt [that] we better get those stories in now, because people won't want to talk about them in a couple of years. ... As we show the film, I see people's body language, and they shudder. It takes them back to a very dark time.”Murakhver co-founded parent advocacy organization Restore Childhood in 2021 and played a leading role in mobilizing New York City parents to reopen public schools during the pandemic. In the spring of 2021, she filed a lawsuit against New York City and its Department of Education, seeking a judicial order to fully reopen public schools for five days a week of in-person learning.“People watch the film … and they realize how important it is to know the history,” she says.Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

McMaster to discuss what she sees as a “cyber gap” between China and America, the need for the US to rethink traditional weapons platforms (hello, drones), plus how Dwight Eisenhower's warning of a “military industry complex” is being redefined by the tech sector's growing role in present-day and future warfare. After that: the three fellows weigh the significance of a utopian socialist recently elected mayor of a very capitalist New York City, a new “algocracy” (algorithms running the government) in Albania, the UK's fabled BBC in hot water over alleged editorial bias, plus whether the “war of the tomorrow” may be in . . . Meet my friends, Clay Travis and Buck Sexton! If you love Verdict, the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show might also be in your audio wheelhouse. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Open for Business! President Donald Trump officially signed legislation reopening the federal government after a 43-day shutdown. The segment opens with audio from Trump at the Resolute Desk, where he criticizes Democrats for what he calls an attempted “extortion” of American taxpayers to fund benefits for illegal immigrants. Clay and Buck analyze the political fallout, questioning whether Democrats will repeat shutdown tactics in 2026 as part of their midterm election strategy. The conversation transitions into a broader discussion on Senate filibuster reform, with Clay advocating for procedural changes to prevent future shutdowns driven by minority party obstruction. Buck adds historical context, referencing past filibuster modifications and the potential consequences of further rule changes. Uncle Bill: All for Nothing A wide-ranging interview with bestselling author and media veteran Bill O’Reilly. Clay and Buck do a deep dive into the political fallout from the recent government shutdown, which O’Reilly attributes to far-left consultants steering the Democratic Party into a failed strategy aimed at making pandemic-era Obamacare spending permanent. He argues that the shutdown hurt millions of Americans and yielded no real gains for Democrats, who now risk being branded as the “mean party” heading into the 2026 midterms. The hosts and O’Reilly also discuss the resurfacing of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, which they believe was used as a distraction from Democratic missteps. The conversation shifts to the 2028 presidential race, where Clay and Buck predict Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the likely Democratic ticket. O’Reilly disagrees, citing Newsom’s poor record in California, including mass outmigration and corruption scandals, and suggests Maryland Governor Wes Moore as a more viable alternative. The trio also debate the dangers of artificial intelligence in politics and media, highlighting the rise of deepfake videos and AI-generated misinformation. O’Reilly references a false image involving President Donald Trump that was cited by Rep. Melanie Stansberry, warning that AI will make it increasingly difficult to distinguish truth from fiction. The hosts call for urgent reform of defamation and libel laws to protect public figures and citizens from malicious AI content. What H-1B Visas Are Supposed To Be The H-1B visa program triggers a contentious exchange between Laura Ingraham and President Trump. Trump defends the need for foreign talent in specialized industries, while Ingraham argues that American workers should be prioritized. Buck provides data indicating that over 750,000 H-1B visa holders are currently working in the U.S., with India accounting for 75% of recent recipients. Clay and Buck debate whether the program is being abused by corporations to undercut American wages and bypass domestic hiring. Buck clarifies that Trump’s comments about lacking domestic talent were aimed at highly specialized roles, such as semiconductor manufacturing, where foreign expertise is temporarily needed. Multiple callers share firsthand experiences with H-1B hires, sparking a robust debate. A computer programmer from California claims foreign workers were paid less despite equal performance. A North Carolina business owner defends the program, citing higher productivity among foreign hires. An engineering manager warns of wage suppression and offshoring trends, while another caller shares how his son’s defense contractor job was outsourced to foreign engineers despite national security concerns. Female Mamdani? Clay and Buck dive into some breaking news, cultural commentary, and audience-driven debate, beginning with reports of a violent incident involving Alina Habba, a U.S. attorney in New Jersey, whose office was attacked by a bat-wielding suspect. Clay and Buck highlight the growing concern over left-wing violence and express relief that Habba is unharmed. They also cover Senator John Fetterman’s hospitalization following a fall caused by a ventricular fibrillation episode, noting his humorous response and drawing parallels to historical political wit. The hour transitions into a critique of Michelle Obama’s recent comments on race and beauty, with Clay and Buck arguing that identity politics are eroding public discourse. They dissect her career trajectory, including her high-paying diversity role at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and question the merit of such positions. This leads into a broader discussion about the Democratic Party’s push for government-run grocery stores, citing examples from Seattle and New York City. Clay and Buck mock the idea as reminiscent of failed socialist models like Cuba, and reference studies—including one from The New York Times—showing that increased access to healthy food does not necessarily change consumer behavior in low-income communities. Clay and Buck argue that food deserts are often misrepresented and that consumer choice, not corporate abandonment, drives product availability. They emphasize the inefficiency of government-run enterprises, citing failed experiments in cities like Kansas City, and warn against policies that ignore market realities. The conversation includes a call from a listener in Rochester, New York, who explains that theft and crime—not lack of demand—are driving grocery stores out of urban areas. The hosts agree, noting that store closures also eliminate local jobs and further destabilize communities. Get everything you need for your traditional home blessing — including the St. Benedict Medal, Holy Water Bottle, and more — from our friends at Holy Heroes today! https://bit.ly/TheDeep_HolyHeroesHBZohran Mamdami's meteoric rise from a seemingly unknown state assemblyman to the next mayor of NYC signals a shift into a new era of politics. In this episode of The Deep, Erika breaks down how the age of social media is shaping the world of politics today. Is it dumbing down the electorate? Is it turning politicians into mere influencers whose success is based on their ability to go viral (instead of the quality of their policy ideas)? How should we respond to the "TikTok-ification” of politics?Timestamps:0:00 - Intro: The rise of Zohran Mamdani1:31 - The Mamdani playbook3:59 - A new era of politics5:15 - How media shapes politics8:05 - What has changed?9:40 - Why Zohran's strategy worked12:08 - Has social media dumbed the electorate?13:21 - Once you win, reality hits 14:46 - Conclusion: how to respond to the age of “TikTok politics”Subscribe to the LOOPcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@theLOOPcastSources:Dhanyamraju, Sandeep. “The Impact of Smartphone Addiction on Cognitive Function and Attention Span.” Lone Star Neurology, published April 9 2025; medically reviewed by Chaitanya Bonda. Troy McEady of Beyond The Blinds returns to Pop Pantheon to unpack the defining prefab American girl group of the 2000s, The Pussycat Dolls. Louie and Troy dig into PCD's beginnings as a burlesque troupe, early dalliances with pop stars like Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani, and brand extension into a ready-made musical girl gang. They discuss the group's breakthrough, “Don't Cha,” 2005's PCD, the near-immediate member tensions and subsequent sophomore slump, 2008's Doll Domination. From there, they tackle the the Pussycats' breakup(s) and abandoned 2020 reunion, then rank the Pussycat Dolls into The Official Pop Pantheon.  Grab tickets to our Best Pop of 2025 Live Show LATE SHOW in NYC on 12/9The Pussycat Dolls Essentials Playlist on SpotifyJoin Pop Pantheon: All Access, Our Patreon Channel, for Exclusive Content and MoreShop Merch in Pop Pantheon's StoreFollow Pop Pantheon on InstagramFollow DJ Louie XIV on Instagram

Hour 3 opens with Boomer diving into Netflix history docs on James Garfield, which quickly sends Gio into a wild pivot on the BTK killer. From there, attention turns to Jets–Patriots tonight, where Justin Fields is expected to start despite some brutal performances this season. The guys question whether Fields has any future here and discuss the Giants turning to Jameis Winston while Joe Schoen's job status hangs in the balance. Jerry Recco returns with an update featuring Drake Maye ahead of Jets/Pats, more from interim Giants coach Mike Kafka, and Russell Wilson reflecting on close losses under Brian Daboll. Matt LaFleur is asked if he's coaching for his job, Terry Bradshaw questions whether Tom Brady is truly the best, and the Knicks' home streak ends with a loss to the Magic. The crew also debates whether Jerry would move to Memphis for an NBA play-by-play job. The hour closes with Gio needing to stay in NYC for a Dunkin' event, and a caller asking why the Giants' defense looks exhausted late in games.
