In this episode, Karis and Michelle interview Amy Carney, author of Parent on Purpose, to talk about the effects of over parenting and what needs to change to create stronger, healthier kids. *Note - During recording we experienced some technical difficulties, causing a bit of audio interference and inhibiting us from videoing the episode as planned. We felt like the content was just that good and worth sharing, so please keep in mind while listening.
In the premier episode, Bug and Craig review The Twilight Saga, and it goes about as well as you'd expect. *Editor's Note: During the Breaking Dawn discussions, Bug's internet was not cooperating, but we worked with what we got! In the final hour, Dan Bernstein and Leila Rahimi were joined by Sahadev Sharma of the Athletic to discuss the Cubs playing quality baseball and winning two of three games against the Cardinals over the weekend. Later, Bernstein and Rahimi compared and contrasted White Sox analyst Steve Stone's superb ability to predict what will happen on the baseball diamond to that of ESPN analyst Alex Rodriguez, who really seems to lack that talent. **Note: During this segment, the station suffered a power outage. After getting back on the air, Bernstein and Rahimi conducted transition with Laurence Holmes. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
(Sorry for the few days delay, I've had a new job and other things taking up my time, but here we are!) While waiting for their first space-Uber customer, Bob and Ben recount the overwhelming amount of fun they had at Muncie's Unconventional Warfare event. Afterwards, Ben dives into introducing the Yavin Base Team League, and the team he's on; Team LAC-Luster! (Note: During the ban-discussion, it was not touched upon that even though there are only 3 of a given unit per team. There are 4 units that each team can have an unlimited amount of, and that's Rebel Troopers, Stormtroopers, Phase 1 Clone Troopers, and B1 Battle Droids.)

Is there anything better after a long day on the trails than a hot meal? Well, maybe a cold adult beverage, but for the purposes of this episode we're going to be talking about food and water. We will save the adult beverages for another time. The guests on this episode are Eric and Brittany from Hourless Life. If one of those names sounds familiar, you're not wrong. Last season Eric joined myself and a few others for a "Jeep Talk" episode. Back then they were known as the "Jeepsies." Don't worry, we talk about their rebranding and their new project as well as their upcoming global adventure. For now, sit back and enjoy another podcast episode and when the time comes, check the links below for some recipes and other camp cooking tips. Echoes of Adventure: Season 3, Episode 9 - Time to talk about some of the things we can't live without: food and water. Joined by Eric and Brittany of The Hourless Life we talk about solo travel, traveling with a family, traveling with special dietary needs, our favorite spices, and how to feed a hungry toddler (no not me) while on an overland adventure. “Note: During the taping I mention the Lifesaver Jerry Can around minute 19. I also mentioned that we weren’t sponsored by them. This was a factual statement at the time of taping. Between the time of taping and the publication date of this podcast we did receive a gear sponsorship from Lifesaver for our upcoming global adventure.” ~ Eric Highland, Hourless Life Links Worth Clicking Hourless Life: Website | Instagram | YoutubeHourless Life Article: "10 Food and Water Tips for Overlanding"Blue Ridge Overland Gear Video: Honey Chicken Teriyaki Stir-fry on the SkottleBlue Ridge Overland Gear Video: How to make Skottle PopcornThe Road Chose Me Video: The Best Camp Stove for International Overland TravelECOA Article: Camp Cooking – Round 1: Tips, Tricks, & IdeasECOA Article: Camp Cooking – Round 2 : Stove MaintenanceECOA Article: L.T. Acomi and Turk182 happen upon one the greatest hidden gems of 80s action, Never Too Young To Die starring a young John Stamos, Vanity, and KISS front man Gene Simmons. Stamos plays college student and gymnast, Lance Stargrove, who finds himself pulled into a world of espionage after learning his recently deceased father was actually a secret agent. Unbeknownst to him, or the agency, is the person that killed agent Stargrove is Ragnar, a rock star, the sinister leader of a biker gang, and also a double agent. Ragnar, played by Gene Simmons, his hiding more than just his identity from the agency. Now, with the help of his father's friend Danja, played by Vanity, Lance has to find the missing disc and stop Ragnar's plan to flood California with toxic waste. This movie is young 80s action at its finest! More crazy than 2 bags of cats! Note: During recording, Acomi and Turk often refer to John Stamos as "Uncle Joey" from the TV series Full House. Stamos' character was actually Uncle Jessie. But, since neither of them ever watched Full House, they didn't know or care. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. The Effect Praise Has on God God loves us. And He wants us to love Him in return! He desires our praise and worship. Praise ministers unto Him. Praise blesses God. If praise had no other benefit, then that would be reason enough to praise Him. *Note - During the first 25 minutes of this video, Cindy shares her own testimony of Jesus working radically in her life as her Healer!
In this episode, season 2 wraps up with Nikki and Andrea talking on the phone about why they aren't in the same room with one another and when they'll be back with new episodes. Note: During the recording of this episode, Zach was the only confirmed case of COVID, but since then, Antonia also came back with a positive test result. Both are totally fine now, and no one else contracted it. THANK GOD! We all definitely dodged a bullet.
At the recent Citizens’ Police Advisory Committee meeting, Deputy Chief Kevin Christman invited the members of the CPAC committee to participate in a ride-along, where they would ride with an officer in his cruiser during a shift to get perspective on their daily experience on patrol. Two members of the committee, Haley Morrissette and Jonathan Green, declined the offer. Morrissette said she will not get in a police car, but asked if she could spend time with the Professional Standards Lieutenant, while Green said that he has PTSD from prior police-related experiences. NOTE: During the recording, Andrew originally identified Green as fellow committee member, Kyle Cole. Mayor Grover Robinson later corrected Andrew, saying Cole was not in-attendance of the meeting.

On this episode of Ichimon Japan we ask: Why do students in Hamamatsu City have to wear white underwear? Topics Discussed School rules concerning the color of a student's underwear The story of one student who ended up having to go bra-less after it was found that she was not wearing white underwear during a school trip Some of the reasons given for why most junior high students in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture must wear white underwear in school The peculiar indoor/outdoor school uniform system used by most junior high schools in Hamamatsu The justifications offered by some proponents of strict school rules And much more! Note: During the episode it is not made clear when exactly the inquiry into the school rules of Hamamatsu City's public junior high schools began According to this article this all seems to date back to December of 2019 when a local group focusing on issues affecting transgender individuals communicated with at least one city council member (a detailed timeline is not provided in the article). Also, it should be pointed out that the group focusing on transgender issues is called toransugendā kenkyū-kai in the article and not toransugendā-kai. "bedtime math," why simply focusing on bedtime can be problematic, and talk about how to find the right bedtime for yourself as an adult, too. Born in Scotland Martin dreamed of being a Chef since a young age, and has now been in the hospitality industry for over 43 years (cooking for 31 years and teaching for 12 years). Martin has entered many culinary competitions which have helped shape and grow his culinary career. In 1995 Martin migrated to Australia which continued to see him work in many reputable venues. While he was off recovering he studied for the Cert IV training and assessing and ended up as a TAFE teacher, teaching commercial cookery. We celebrate an anniversary and a new month as I deliver all of the fast and furious sports talk on the latest Episode 116. On deck: (2:11) Acknowledging the second anniversary on the podcast, sending many thanks to all for your continued and tremendous support. (4:31) The reigning MVP's of the past two years in the NBA (Giannis & James Harden) exchanged some subtle unpleasantries last week. Were the comments unnecessary? Is this something to look out for down the road? I'll also discuss who should be NBA Rookie of the Year and my problem with the comparison between Zion Williamson and LeBron James's rookie seasons is one you won't want to miss. (25:30) Another week of upsets in College Basketball as we're more than two weeks away from March Madness, with thoughts on Duke being a Final Four team? (29:31) The Islanders made a big, but questionable trade (in my eyes) for goal scorer Jean-Gabriel Pageau. My take on that and do the Isles have enough to make it to the playoffs? If not, will there be consequences? (39:31) NFL free agent talk will start to ratchet up, especially with the big name of Tom Brady out there. Where will he end up? (44:54) The latest on the XFL. Is the buzz starting to wear off? Is it losing some steam? (47:44) Should Yankee fans worry about the rash of injuries this spring to some of their top players (i.e. Severino, Stanton and Judge)? (51:50) Plus, my Hero and Zero of the Week and announcement regarding another social media addition to the podcast. Get hands-on with art, history, and more!We all know the value of teaching history, and study after study has shown that art education is good for kids' overall learning, but we never seem to get the time and materials for those projects.Listen in as Penny Mayes (Take Time for Art) and I discuss why it's so important to take time for those hands-on experiences! Not only will you create cherished homeschool memories, but your kids will make learning connections in reasoning, logic and problem-solving!We had a great time discussing everything from catapults to coloring pages! We hope you enjoy and learn along with us!**NOTE: During the conversation, Penny and I chat about using her art packs for high school credit. We mistakenly say there are 15 hours involved, but actually each art pack is about 30 hours of work, which is generally equivalent to .25 high school elective credit.ALSO, the document that I asked Penny about that correlates some of the popular history curriculums to her art packs is usually only available at in-person events like conventions and conference, but Take Time for Art has generously shared that with our listeners! If you're interested in finding out if your curriculum is on the list, visit The Triangle Homeschool Resource Center website, podcast episode 5 for that download! All links (and the download) mentioned in this episode can be found at:http://www.trianglehomeschoolresources.com/005Thank you, and happy homeschooling!Support the show (http://trianglehomeschoolresources.com/village)
For this chilling Apetober Gorillaween episode, Jack and Geoff welcome Erin Clarke back for a look at Dario Argento's zanily grisly 1985 thriller Phenomena. And this movie has it all: a sheet metal-wielding killer, a girl who talks to insects, and a vengeful chimp nurse! Our hosts have a great time unpacking this insanity, while still finding time for digressions about Hamburger Helper, CGI Brando, and more! **NOTE** During recording, workmen were installing scaffolding on a building just outside the ApeCast studios. Apologies for the noise. Put yourself in the proper spirit by imagining the sounds of clanking metal and Japanese shouting are ghostly chains and the lamentations of the damned!

Abraham, is the sixth sermon preached by our Youth Minister, Tyler Hallman, in a series of lessons titled, Running With the Giants. In this lesson, we see words of encouragement for when you don't understand God's ways. [NOTE: During this sermon there was a brief power failure at approximately the 4:42 mark. This gap of silence has been edited out.]
Support the podcast! Our internal critical voice is one of the key reasons we fail to take the action we want in life. This constant nagging voice in our heads points out all of our past failings, why we aren't capable of taking action now, and why we will fail in the future. When we have a voice inside of our head telling us this over and over again, it can become crippling. The stronger the critical voice is, the less likely we are to take action. In this podcast Jacqui Letran and I talk about why the critical voice exists (and there is a good reason), how we can tap for it, and a new analogy for how to think about it. The image that Jacqui shares for the critical voice is one I had never thought of and is just perfect. Her description completely changed the way I think of my own critical voice. We also talk about how best to tap in the moment to reduce the power of the critical voice. Note: During the conversation we talk about forgiveness, the pitfalls around being able to forgive, and how to approach forgiveness in a healthy way. Here is a more comprehensive reflection on how to achieve forgiveness of others and of self into your tapping work. *NOTE: During this episode, you may hear the interviewer and interviewee refer to “the 400” or “dash 100.” These numbers refer to variants of the 747. Just like apples have different varieties—fuji, honeycrisp, MacIntosh, etc—planes have their own variations, too! When Boeing released the 747, it changed the aviation industry forever. The story of the 747’s development, however, must be told alongside the stories of the pilots who flew it. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 747’s first flight, we feature an oral history with pilot Jerry Coy, who flew the 747 during its heyday. Coy has piloted planes for 40 years, including 330 combat missions, but his commercial career is just as fascinating. This week he shares the story of how difficult it was for pilots to be chosen to fly the Queen of the Skies, because it was all based on seniority. And once a pilot was chosen to fly, they were in charge of transporting hundreds of passengers all around the globe. Coy flew from Seattle to Tokyo, and he recalls a scary instance in which an engine failed. Coy’s stories are an ideal way to celebrate the amazing history of this incredible plane! Listen to more fascinating oral histories by visiting our digital archives page, and then take a moment to learn more about the very first 747 ever flown. The Oral History Program is made possible by the generous support of Michael and Mary Kay Hallman. Thank you for listening to the Audible Café podcast. With our public employees enduring the fifth week of their forced furlough during a government shutdown resulting from the actions of a despotic and vindictive President Trump, this interview — and my interview with Kyla Bennett from PEER last week — couldn’t be more timely. In today’s episode, I am sharing my interview with Jeff Ruch, Executive Director of PEER - Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. PEER is a watchdog of our public environmental agencies, and works extensively to empower public employees so that they are literally peers within their agencies, with a seat at the table that respects and relies on their knowledge and expertise to set and enforce policy, and honors their years of service and dedication. This honoring of our nation’s environmental laws and policies and employees is sorely missing, to say the least, under the Trump administration. Which means that PEER has been receiving many, many calls from deeply concerned and disenfranchised public employees. Jeff has been the Executive Director of PEER since 1997. He helped to start PEER and for the first four years served as General Counsel & Program Director for the organization. Prior to founding PEER, Jeff was the Policy Director and a staff attorney at the Government Accountability Project, representing whistleblowers from both the public and private sector. Before coming to DC, Jeff worked in California state government for 17 years, mostly in the State Legislature as counsel to various committees where he drafted literally hundreds of laws on topics ranging from energy conservation to the rights of employed inventors. We’re grateful to Jeff for taking the time to talk with us. And we’re especially grateful to him for his years of devotion to the people who serve our country as public employees in environmental agencies. Protecting the protectors - it is not an easy job. But these public servants do not deserve to be disrespected, harassed, and harmed by abusive government practices. And neither do the great diversity of species who live all across our nation — whether in public parks or on other lands — who literally depend on our environmental agencies for their lives. So please, after you listen to the show, visit PEER’s website, learn about the campaigns they are working on, and support them. Our public agencies are responsible for ensuring that the lands and waters and living beings in their care are protected and allowed to flourish. Public employees hold the future of our nation in their hands. Let’s not let dictatorial, corporate-funded politicians keep them from doing their jobs! Thank you for listening. As always, you can learn more and access archives and show notes with lots of resources at audiblecafe.com, or visit the FB page - just search for Audible Café, or follow us on Twitter @audiblecafe. If you listen on iTunes, please subscribe, and leave us a review. It’s helps a lot. We appreciate your feedback. So if you’d like to get directly in touch with us, email listenup@audiblecafe.com. Note: During this interview, Jeff Ruch describes the censorship and bureaucratic and legal punishment of a government scientist, Dr. Charles Monnett, who was one of the first to report polar bear mortality as a result of drowning — a deeply sad result of melting ice flows due to climate change. The images associated with this phenomenon are terribly disturbing and yet have served to bring the shocking truth of climate change before the public eye in a way climate change reports cannot. At one point in our discussion, the deceased polar bears are referred to as “floaters,” not in any negative way at all. I considered editing that descriptor out of the interview because it upset me, but then stopped myself. The importance of the scientist’s work— and especially the resulting media storm that ensued when he reported it appropriately in an “observational note” in a scientific paper and Al Gore picked up on the story and put it his book “An Inconvenient Truth” — brought important attention to the plight of these majestic creatures. I decided that I can’t let my personal, emotional reaction to a word outweigh my goal of staying true to... truth. At Audible Café, we strive to uphold the values of free and independent journalism. I hope you will agree this is more important than softening the blow of human destruction of the earth and its creatures. We must all face this truth, and act now to address it. You may know him as creator of Personal Kanban, as the co-creator of Lean Coffee, through his work as CEO of Modus Cooperandi, his books, or from the many awards he’s won for his work in applying Lean practices to knowledge work. After years watching Agile being misused, misunderstood, and seeing it “calcify and solidify because of commercialization”, Jim’s new project The Agile Heretic is focused on calling attention to many of the things people are doing that are causing Agile to not work. In the videos and blog posts, Jim takes on a wide range of Agile related topics, he explores why things are off the rails and how to address them. In this interview Jim and I talk through what led to him creating this series, his hopes for it and what he is looking forward to seeing in the future of Agile. We also touch on some specific topics (like why he doesn’t like Story Points) and he shares a bunch of great stories (like why a group of developers once passed the hat amongst themselves and smuggled him into their company after their organization deemed his ideas too dangerous to their way of working. Our own Scientific Director and coach Megan Roberts is back on the podcast today to discuss an important but often misunderstood aspect of health and longevity: oxidative stress. It’s a condition associated with numerous chronic health problems including cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Today we cover everything you need to know about oxidative stress: what it is, what causes it, how to know if you’ve got it, and how to fix it. If you want an objective assessment of your own oxidative stress burden, try using our Blood Chemistry Calculator. The calculator, powered by a machine-learning algorithm, analyzes your own basic lab work to produce a single Oxidative Balance Score that you can use to track progress over time. Note: During this podcast, you’ll hear us talk about the “Oxidative Stress Score” on the Blood Chemistry Calculator Report. This has since been renamed the Oxidative Balance Score. Call to action! Tell us what you really think of 'Law for Community Workers on the go' - help this resource grow and improve. In this podcast we talk about: what the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC) does and how it works when you should complain to the LECC, what serious misconduct and serious maladministration is, why it is important to make a complaint as early as possible, and the importance of getting legal advice if you want to make a complaint about police. Referrals and more information If you want to make a complaint about police you should contact Law Access NSW on 1300 888 529. You can get legal information and where appropriate get referred for legal advice. You can find more information about the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission or call them on 02 9321 6700. NOTE: During this podcast we say that the time limit to bring a claim against police is 3 years. This is only true where the assault is serious and meets the definition of a personal injury in the Civil Liability Act. For many assaults the injury suffered won’t come near that level of seriousness so the time limit for suing police for the intentional tort of assault will be six years, not three. Get legal advice from Legal Aid NSW or a Community Legal Centre about your specific circumstances.

Dr Kieran Scott works at the Ingham Institute developing a cancer drug that targets inflammation as a means of treating prostate cancer. Kieran's currently at the clinical trial stage, testing his compound 'C2' on 12 participants. We talked to Kieran about the process of drug development for Prostate cancer, the luck involved in scientific research, as well as the often ill-considered aspects of conducting research.Note: During the discussion of the Shine Dalgarna sequence in this conversation, Dr Scott mistakenly referred to ribosomes binding to DNA when he intended to say RNA. To clarify the error, the mechanism by which the Shine Dalgarno sequence serves to direct protein translation in bacteria is that the sequence, encoded in DNA prior to the translation start site of a gene is transcribed into mRNA. The ribosome recognises this site and so can initiate translation of the mRNA.

It is actually a plebiscite and only needs 50 percent to pass. In this our latest instalment of one of the fastest growing podcasts in all of the lands, we discuss the incredibly volatile landscape of modern day racism with the recent unfortunate events that occurred in Charlottesville in the United States. We then talk "white supremacy", what is it? is it something that will always be around? why is it rearing it's ugly face in 2017? I mean, it ain't 1939!... JDot, Andy Establishment and our host Fred Nations feature in this particular episode (I haven't listened yet but I remember that Dot & Fred were quite tipsy as they had been drinking vodka and scotch for a few hours prior to this recording), so I guess what i'm saying is be prepared for some sloppy audio.....at times...but hopefully our professionalism will take over and all you cutie pies ah plenty won't even notice. Darren Petersen is a Senior Technical Project Manager at Lullabot. He’s also incredibly knowledgeable about Agile. In this interview Darren and I discuss how Agile has been implemented at Lullabot. We dig into what works, what doesn’t, why he moved away from Story Points and all, and how Lullabot has been able to get dedicated teams in place. Note: During the interview Darren and I have a brief conversation about why it makes no sense to force yourself into the As a (some user) I want to (some action) so I can (some benefit) format just for the sake of using it. I promised to get him an official answer. Max & Nicky and special guest Jon Lavranos attempt to offer a bilateral analysis of alcohol and alcoholism in and outside of the media. Note: During the recording of this episode, Max made a mistake in listing the third grape varietal of Champagne. He pronounced it incorrectly and meant to say "Pinot Meunier".
In this episode Andrew Clancy is joined by Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats of Flores Prats Architects. (NOTE: During the conversation we have an extended conversation about their Casa Balaguer project - being able to refer to the drawings and images might be useful to understand this part! http://www.floresprats.com/archive/palau_balaguer/) Flores Prats work with a lyrical precision, working into and out of the contexts where it is sited. Sites are read formally and culturally with memory and the incidental valued as a site for discovery. The roots of the practice lie in the time that Eva and Ricardo spent working with the late Enric Miralles and the investigations of this time continue to be a source of agitation and delight. Disarmingly modest when they speak they do so directly and with no artifice. In their built works disparate elements are held in an equilibrium in which everything impinges on everything else in a choreography at once gestural and deeply felt. Familiar elements are woven into new guises at once new and apposite. In this reworking their essentials become more vitally manifest. In this interview they talk through how they met in the offices of Enric Miralles, and how they see their work relative to his. The culture of drawing is discussed in depth, not least how they use hand drawings as a living working method in their studio, as a way to see the contexts where they work. http://www.floresprats.com Credits: Register is brought to you by the Department of Architecture & Landscape at Kingston University. fada.kingston.ac.uk/al/ Head of Department: Eleanor Suess Register Editor: Timothy Smith Interviewer: Andrew Clancy Audio: Justin Howard
This episode has two segments. In the first (0:46-39:24), Anne from Pikapi Podcast returns to discuss the English and Japanese ending themes of Pokémon 4Ever. We talk about the songs themselves, and which one we prefer. Our second segment (39:32-46:57) is from Anime Milwaukee 2017, where I interviewed the winner of the Pokémon Sun & Moon Tournament, who just so happens to be a YouTube Manga reviewer. Find out about his team, and his channel. Note: During the first segment, Anne incorrectly states that Russel Velazquez wrote "Two Perfect Girls" and "Biggest Part Of My Life" on Totally Pokemon. The only song from that album he wrote is "The Game". Photog Adventures Podcast: A Landscape Photography and Astrophotography Podcast
Extra Podcast episode where we share the 25 mins we spent talking about Royce's fascinating film and photography background. If you like the idea of getting into the weeds on aspects of how film for movies was edited, color corrected and hear about it from the perspective of a photographer who greatly enjoyed the transition from Film to Digital. Then you will enjoy this bonus excerpt about Royce Bair's professional background. Regular Podcast episode returns on Monday the 6th. NOTE: During the podcast Royce mentioned some early digital to analog film output and couldn't remember the names of the machines. They were the Solitaire and the Kodak LVT. The Solitaires were used to output digitally retouched files to 35mm slides or negatives. The cost up to $60,000 each. The cine models were used to output special computer effects for some of the Star Wars movies and other special effect movies (often done by Lucas' "Industrial Light and Magic" division). They often had up to a dozen of these film recorders going day and night to output the film for the movies (because it takes 24 frames for just one second of on screen time); http://www.promarketinc.com/pdf/mgisolitairecineiiiflx.pdf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_recorder For larger color transparencies or color negatives, used for large printing (4x5 and 8x10), the Kodak LVT was the better film recorder technology. They cost about $170,000. https://artofplatinum.wordpress.com/2014/03/18/light-valve-technology-lvt-platinum-printing/ Back in the mid 90’s Replicolor.com, here in SLC, had 3 Solitaires and one LVT.
Kate and Yoko chat with art director, photographer, and entrepreneur, Nate Poekert about what it's like to be a gay Asian man, adopted by a white family, and home schooled in central Florida. Note: During our recording, we called this episode 5. We’re wrong. It’s episode 6. Woops!
September 11, 2001 is a date that touches every American from coast to coast and citizens from around the world; each recalling memories of a fateful day that placed thousands at the center of a terror attack. The personal stories that emerged from Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 bring to light the men and women whose courage and resilience have shown how humanity will always overcome fear. Today World Footprints commemorates the anniversary of the terrifying attack that changed the world and brought heroes to the front-line. You will hear from survivors their first-hand account of the events as they experienced them. You will also hear from individuals who selflessly put their own lives at risk to rescue others. We will also share our own memories for the first time. We will always be united in memory! Click HERE to see our video from within the Pentagon and our visit to the Pentagon Memorial. He joined World Footprints to share how the American Bible Society was a first-responder of a different kind. The organization immediately sought to provide comfort and hope and created a small pamplet of scriptures that encouraged strength. Lauren Manning: When a wall of flame at the World Trade Center burned more than 80 percent of her body, Lauren began a journey of survival and rebirth that tested her almost beyond human endurance. Lauren's story is detailed in her book Unmeasured Strength. JC Hayward, Anchor, WUSA 9 (CBS Affiliate in Washington, DC): JC was in Santa Monica, CA at the time of the attacks. Welcome to the second episode of Movies My Friends Have Never Seen! Today I am joined by filmmaker Matt Glasson who will be watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for the first time. Download the MP3 directly here Will the film hold up for Matt after 30 years of Short Round and "chilled monkey brains" jokes? And just what kept Matt from seeing the second installment in the Indiana Jones franchise? Click play above or download the MP3 to find out. Music: Kate Capshaw's breathtaking performance of "Anything Goes" (in Chinese!) from the film's opening sequence. Special thanks to Matt for audio editing assistance. Be sure to follow him on Twitter and check out his hilarious and creepy film Love Stalker. Like Movies My Friends Have Never Seen on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! Note: During the podcast I incorrectly refer to George Lucas' ex-wife by the name "Maria Lucas." Her name is actually Marcia Lucas.
Where is the crossover between screenwriting and editing? Can independent filmmakers from around the world work with an LA based editor on their movies? In this episode, Adam talks with Michael Darrow, editor of the upcoming film SOME GIRLS directed by Daisy Mayer and written by Neil LaBute. Plus, Adam's worst experience ever in a movie theater. Adam's Note: During the episode, I discuss the worst experience I've ever had in a movie theater which happened to be edited by interview guest. To clarify, my reaction was not to the film itself. I'm not saying I hate this movie more than any other movie I've ever seen. I simply felt the film was an exercise in therapy for the writer and star more than an entertainment experience for others and to sit in a theater with some of the people involved in the tragedy was unsettling.
Subject: Fringe - Pilot (1x01) Observers: John Pavlich, Annie Burnaman Record Date: August 05, 2011, 09:42 PM Plot Summary: FBI Special Agent, Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) enlists the help of a mentally unstable but brilliant scientist, Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his estranged son, Peter (Joshua Jackson) to investigate a series of strange and dangerous "experiments" that fall under the category of "fringe science". Note: During the recording of this commentary, both Annie and myself were fighting a record-setting heatwave, courtesy of the Texas weather. You may hear the intrusion of fans and central air. Directed by Alex Graves and written by J.J. Abrams & Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci, Annie and I explore the form and function of Fringe's pilot episode. We discuss the cast, the beginnings of a mythology and the engaging aspects of the dramatic narrative and the progression of the action. Remember to listen for the preemptive countdown before starting the episode on your DVD.
