Hello everyone! This week's "A" episode is coming out on Tuesday instead of Monday due to the holiday over the weekend! Sorry if that threw anyone off! The bulk of this Tuesday podcast episode follows my weekly comic pull list. This week I discuss 13 different new comics, including the beginnings of X-Men, Ordinary Gods, Mamo, and Fights Girls, the ending of Karmen, my thoughts on the coming World War She-Hulk, and nothing but excitement and admiration for Wonder Girl and Sensational Wonder Woman! Following the pull list is the discussion of the most recent episode of Star Wars: the Bad Batch. Episode 10 was titled Common Ground, and was a great one for fans of droids and proving Omega's usefulness. Finally, I wrap up the episode by addressing the new rumors surrounding Wolverine in the MCU.
Good Monday, world! This morning brought us the first teaser trailer for Marvel's Eternals movie, coming out this November! As a bit of a "left-field" Marvel movie, this trailer settled most concerns that the film would be a bust. With an all-star cast of all types and ranges, a plethora of material to pull from, and basically a universe worth of material to introduce, this trailer made me certain Eternals won't miss the mark. Unfortunately, Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead DID miss the mark, and by a lot. While I can take gore and violence in movies without much problem, there was a lot that added to what made this movie a big problem, and left me not only extremely disappointed, but mildly confused as to how it even got green-lit in the first pace. It just wasn't very good, and I have the receipts here as to why. To end things on a lighter note, I finish off the episode with this week's Comic Book Pull List! With a lot coming out again this week, there's certainly something for everyone to look forward to. I'll be back for a new episode (19B) this Friday, May 28th, where I will be discussing my Comic Book Picks--things I found great or noteworthy out of this week's comics-- as well as going over the Bad Batch episode 4 and any other news and theories that spark between now and then! Until that time, do your best this week, and always get sweaty about your hobbies!
Hello on this fine Monday! I did today's "A" episode a little different, starting with news and speculation! This section includes info on the fifth Indiana Jones movie, upcoming film and TV releases, and news of AT&T beefing up to cage-fight Disney! Then there is the comic book pull list, featuring a plethora of new and ongoing series'! The episode wraps up with a brief note on Castlevania season 4, and discussion of the Bad Batch episode 3, which was a great one! I'll be back Friday, May 21st for episode 18B, which will feature the comic book Pick List, discussion of Black Lightning episodes, and whatever news and updates may happen between now and then! Have a fantastic week, everyone, and be authentically sweaty!
Hello folks! This Monday episode starts by covering the new comic pull list for this week! With a ton of great material coming out, I focus on characters like Barbara Gordon, Patsy Walker, and Elektra, and talk great indie titles like Karmen, Maniac of New York, Homesick Pilots, and more! As always, make sure to stop by your Local Comic Shop if you are able to see what other new comics they have to suggest! After the comics, around the 48minute mark I get into Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4! What a big one it was, too! Super Serum, Battlestar, Karli's complicated fate, the Dora Milajae, and everything in-between is fully discussed! There are just two episodes of the show left, so make sure you're all caught up and explained! I was planning on spending some time razzing Warner Bro's for having kind of screwed themselves over, but there's enough negativity in the world, so I only do some slight razzing before moving onto much the more interesting topic of Extreme Carnage! Following in the footsteps of Maximum and Absolute, Extreme Carnage is a Marvel event that will follow all the Life Foundation symbiotes and some surprises--discussed on this episode! As a major fan of Scream and of the Life Foundation symbiotes, this event is going to be a blast, and I discuss all the info here. I'll be back for another podcast episode this Friday, April 16th, where we'll discuss what was great, terrible, and/or notable in this week's comic releases! And, of course, I'll be going over whatever comic-in-pop-culture news, theories, speculations or updates we get between now and then, too! In the meantime, have a productive week, and stay sweaty!
Whattup, nerds? Today's Monday episode starts by covering this week's comic book Pull List, including spotlights on comics with representation of marginalized peoples. Those include Green Lantern #1, America Chavez: Made in the USA #2, Far Sector #11, and a few others. Comics will be out on the 6th and 7th this week! Friday's Falcon and the Winter Solider episode 3 had some gems to take in, and I discuss it all here! From Madripoor to Wakanda, from Zemo to Sharon Carter; I'm talking comic inspiration, speculation, and characterization. The weekend gave us a new look at a fresh Black Widow trailer, and this morning's Loki trailer was a nice surprise to wake up to! I break down both trailers in this episode to see what we're working with for these blockbuster characters. Finally, after briefly mentioning it in the last episode, I go fully into Godzilla VS Kong, discussing the pros and cons and best moments of what's really just a fun monster battle movie. I'll be back Friday, April 9th with a new episode (12B) covering this week's comic book picks and notable events, plus all the news and speculation that comes with a geek-driven era of pop-culture. It's a good time to be a nerd! See you Friday, and stay sweaty!
This Monday episode starts off with my discussion of Zack Snyder's Justice League! I go though the 12(ish) points of expectation I laid out last Monday (ep. 9A) based on what we had been promised by Snyder himself, as well as some additional general thoughts. Spoilers abound, of course, in what ends up a really fun reviewing of this long, and long-awaited, redo. Then I go into the first episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which premiered last Friday! The series is off to a stupendous start, giving much-desired insight into fan-favorite characters who previously didn't have as much development or screen time as their fellow heroes. The episode showed not only a plethora of spinning-off points for plot, but also how Disney Marvel is so ready and able to tap into multiple genres of filmmaking for their wide variety of comic book properties--and it works! After the live-action discussions, we're left with comic books themselves! Discussing this week's new comic book Pull List, including spotlights on various aspects of comic representation. Finally, I cover the announced and relevant Marvel comics solicitations for June, which brings new series', final issues, and a few noteworthy titles. Come back on Friday March 26th for another new episode, discussing what stood out from this week's new comic books, as well as whatever geek-culture news and updates rear up between now and then! Stay Sweaty!
Happy Monday, people! I flipped the agenda this week, starting off instead with this week's comic book Pull List, including spotlights for Women's History Month on the life and times of four favorite female characters appearing in this week's comic titles! They are: Carol Danvers, Patsy Walker, Jessica Drew, and Selina Kyle! Their lives are so much more than what appears on the surface, and here I discuss how the best way to write or appreciate these women is to remember ALL their history as a whole, not just the parts you preferred. After that, since WandaVision is over, I talk about its behind-the-scenes episode, titled, Assembled: the Making of WandaVision! There were a few key points worth learning, but it was mostly just a fun look at the process of putting the actors together in this kind of setting. Following that, I also have a discussion of the third episode of Superman and Lois and the CW network, which I continue to greatly enjoy! Then I have another segment on the upcoming SnyderCut! Zack Snyder's four-hour Justice League premiers in six parts this Thursday, so in this episode I break down the 12 (or so) major expectations I have for the film, based on claims made by Snyder himself. It's been years leading up to this final product, and he's been pumping it up the whole time, so he's made some pretty big shoes for himself to fill, and I'm excited to see how it all works out! It all wraps up with brief notes of excitement for the premier of Falcon and the Winter Solider this Friday (which I will discuss next Monday!), and some general thoughts on today's Oscar nominee announcements. The next podcast episode is coming this Friday, 3/19, where I will be talking comic book picks--things I enjoyed or are noteworthy out of this week's comic book releases. And, of course, I'm sure there will be plenty of comics in pop culture news, and I'll probably have a few words to say about the first episode or two of Snyder's Justice League. Stay Sweaty!

In this episode of “The Fun Waste of Time,” it's a full house! The crew is joined, once again, by the “Home Theater Gamer” Brad Pipkins and it's an action-packed episode with a lot of great topics. The crew discusses rumors about Michael Keaton's potential casting as Batman in the upcoming Warner Bros film, “The Flash”. They speculate on which version of Batman he'll play, an older “Batman Beyond” Bruce Wayne or the “Flashpoint” Batman, in which Thomas Wayne (Bruce's father) dons the mantle. In TV news, the crew discusses the surprise announcement of a “Fallout” TV show based on the popular video game franchise. Will the game's world and premise make for a compelling TV series? Is the crew excited about the show premiering on streaming platform Amazon Prime as opposed to network TV? Will the “Westworld” creators treat the property with the respect it deserves? All questions asked within the episode. Comic Book Pull List returns! The conversation centers around whether Warner Media will dismantle its DC Universe streaming platform or reposition it for another purpose. TV shows and movies are being pulled from DC Universe and sent to other streaming platforms and networks. With limited live-action TV shows, animated features and movies will DC Universe survive Warner Media's internal restructuring with most resources heading over to HBO Max? In video games, NBA 2K21 is the first game to raise its price on next-gen consoles. Will other game developers and companies follow its lead and raise the price of their games as well? Is NBA 2K21 the right game to take the lead on the price hike? The crew has some very strong opinions about this. Listen in to hear what they have to say! To close the show, the crew go in deep with their spoiler-filled review of “The Last of Us Part 2”! Feelings and opinions about the game vary drastically from one member to another. Did the crew feel it was a worthy follow-up to its marvelous predecessor, the first "The Last of Us"? You've got to hear it to believe it! There's all this and much more in episode 25 of “The Fun Waste of Time” podcast!

What is your relationship like on the project? How are things going with comics currently on hold, are you working on anything, or is it pencils down right now?Mark, I simply loved your DC Year of the Villain one-shots, they always seemed to go a subvert the idea that many of the one-shots brought and took a different course like with Harley Quinn being a commentary on award shows, how Riddler didn’t get powered up by Lex, and Sinestro’s story feeling like an incredible sci-fi story not needing the even itself to work. StudiosEveryone loves a good who-done-it, what are some of your favorite detective stories and were there any you read or watched to prepare for Wicked Things? If you had to pitch Wicked Things to 18 or 19 year olds, how would you describe it? The plot of Wicked Things #1 revolves around an awards ceremony for detectives. Having won an Eisner, did you approach this issue from your own experience with that award show, or maybe others you’ve attended? The lead character, Charlotte "Lottie" Grote, was first introduced (if I’m not mistaken) in Scary Go Round in the story the Estate January 28, 2009, and while the character is 19 in Wicked Things she’s technically 11 in real people years. Outside of enjoying a great Harley story, which it is, what do you want readers to take from the work? Steve, your color work is astounding. Was it your intention to have the color transition from mostly black white and blue to much more striking use of color from the beginning or did it evolve as you progressed in the creative process? The ice cream shop scene is possibly my favorite and Harley’s friend is positively electric. So electric I have to ask, are these characters modeled after real people? And Steve, did you take any inspirations from real life people in your designs? The drag queen karaoke cabaret is fabulous and feels right at home for Harley. What are the chances we get a tie-in comic or series to further their adventures? I won’t spoil a thing here, but is there any chance for a sequel? This ending is so perfect for one! At what stage did the title get thought up? James, I know you’ve said previously this story has been percolating in your head for awhile, once Werther Dell'Edera came on as artist how long did it take to hash out the style, the characters designs, stuff like that? What are your biggest horror influences? The color palette is gorgeous in this book, there are these blacks and blues in the night time scenes, then bright bright whites in the day scenes. Can you talk a little about that choice and what you were going for? Something that was so striking to me was the use of gore in the book. Is there a science to how much and when it drops in the story? Erica Slaughter is an instantly likable character even though she’s a bit weird in her own way. Also, I totally see folks cosplaying as her soon. I almost think her favorite book growing up would be Where the Wild Things Are, but she was reading it in a different way. Can you talk a bit about this character? Do you remember the moment you fell in love with comics? What has been your proudest moment in comics?
