Hi, listeners! Host Kerry Diamond here. Welcome to the show notes, and thank you for listening. If no one has told you lately, you clearly have great taste in podcasts. Today's guest is Substack queen, bestselling author & boy mom Caroline Chambers recorded live at Jubilee NYC, Cherry Bombe's annual conference. (Curious about Jubilee? Join us at the upcoming Jubilee in L.A.)My favorite thing about Caroline? She doesn't gatekeep. I've interviewed her a few times now, and she is always happy to spill all the details regarding her Substack and how she wound up with the NUMBER ONE SUBSTACK IN FOOD AND DRINK. Amazing. Here's the leaderboard if you need proof. (For Caroline's Substack success step-by-step, check out our pod from last year.) She also talks about being rejected by all the cookbook editors when shopping the proposal for “What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking,” which, of course, went on to be a major hit. That must have felt nice when the book made The New York Times bestseller list. (Cue the “Pretty Woman” big mistake scene.) Few more things. Thanks to Michelladonna of “Shop Cats” (happy belated birthday, M!) and Alice Ma of Mad Realities for introducing Caroline at Jubilee. Big thanks to Square for supporting our show and taking care of so many small businesses. Check out what they're up to at square.com/big. And go visit Este Restaurant if you're in Austin. Lastly, congrats to Caroline and her hubby on their new baby–their fourth boy! So many boys. If you have a Substack, I want to know about it. Send us a textWhat happens when creative theme park fans decide to imagine the absolute worst possible Disney lands? We're about to find out while sipping on one of Epcot's most unusual cocktails. We kick things off by sampling the La Cava Avocado from La Hacienda de San Angel in the Mexico Pavilion – a unique $19 concoction featuring tequila, Midori, fresh avocado, lime juice, and agave. With its smoothie-like consistency and surprising flavor profile, this drink proves to be unexpectedly enjoyable and potentially a sleeper hit for our year-end list. Then we unleash our worst (or best?) terrible theme park concepts. "Corporate Land" brings the magic of endless meetings to life with attractions like the TPS Report Coaster that never actually leaves the station and the Annual Shareholders Review Musical. "Tax Season Terrace" features an IRS Audit dark ride and the Deduction Deli where servers take 30% of your food and throw it away right in front of you.The creativity continues with "Diet Land" (requiring 30,000 mandatory steps), "Dental Kingdom" (featuring the painfully slow "Floss Coaster"), "Plumland" (bathroom-themed attractions with active splash zones), "Potato Land" (celebrating root vegetables with no cleanup stations), and "The Emotionally Repressed Frontier" (where animatronics silently process family issues). Our most intriguing bad idea might be "Touchstone Land," celebrating Disney's adult-oriented film label with attractions based on hits like "The Rock," "Dead Poets Society," and "Pretty Woman." This concept actually contains elements many Disney fans might genuinely enjoy – proving that sometimes even terrible ideas contain a spark of inspiration.Join us for this hilarious brainstorming session that blends Disney parks knowledge, nostalgia, and creativity into one unforgettable cocktail of an episode. What's your favorite terrible theme park concept? Here's who we are and what is in store for you

Comedian Josh Gondelman (host of the upcoming YouTube special “Positive Reinforcement”) joins for a beat-by-beat journey through the Rapunzel-Cinderella-Pygmalion Frankenstein that made Julia Roberts a star. This week's tune is a pop-psych confection called "Mr. Personality Man" - and there's only three recorded versions, so you'll hear 'em all if you tune in. The original is from The West Coast Delegation, a band confusingly from England. It's got a pretty heavy backbeat reminiscent of Motown or "Pretty Woman" and it doesn't let up. The lyrics deal with a charming but dangerous rogue, so we think the song might be inspired by "David Watts" by The Kinks (not played). The Foundations are the next personalities to tackle the tune - you might remember them from "Build Me Up Buttercup" fame. They slow the tempo down, add horns, and jauntify the song by about 75%. The third and final candidate is from Sweden's Slamcreepers, one of the best band names of all time - and Weldon has exhaustively researched the name's meaning. Fans of Swedish linguistics rejoice! Their version is fun but singer Bjorn Skif (later to star in Blue Swede's megahit version of "Hooked on a Feeling) had an off day. Get out your Lucky Charms and listen!!

But it's also the spark that illuminates your shadow—those hidden stories, repressed parts, and people-pleasing patterns you've been justifying for way too long.We explored:The difference between doing fire (candles, crystals, incense) and being fire—living with radiant, unapologetic heatThe journey from a flickering spark of awareness to a wildfire of embodied self-trustWhat it means to tend your bonfire when the people around you want to put it outHow shadow work isn't about digging up the past—it's about clearing the space to live your futureAnd yes, we even pulled in a Pretty Woman reference or two. (Because “Big mistake. Huge.” is peak shadow moment.)

Wingnut Social: The Interior Design Business and Marketing Podcast
What if being overlooked was the best thing that ever happened to your business? When Wandra Cain walked into showrooms and got ignored, she didn't flinch—she made a mental note. That “Pretty Woman” moment stuck with her, not as a grievance, but as fuel. She'd always had a sharp eye and a natural gift for pulling beauty out of limitation, but that experience sharpened her resolve to create a design business that didn't ask for permission to be taken seriously. She built WCA Interiors from the ground up, not with flashy backing or a big team, but with intention, consistency, and a deep belief that her work belonged, regardless of who initially acknowledged it. Her journey started with pivots. From corporate desk jobs to cosmetology school, and eventually to earning her interior design degree while working full-time, she followed the tug toward creativity even when the path forward looked unclear. Early projects tested her—contractors challenged her decisions, budgets fell apart, and she didn't always know how to protect her time or profit. But instead of hiding the hard parts, she leaned in. Every mistake became a tool. Every misstep taught her how to run a better project, have firmer boundaries, and value her own expertise. What really sets Wandra apart is her ability to show up with humility and confidence at the same time. She leads projects with warmth, listens deeply to clients, and isn't afraid to say no when the fit or the numbers are off. Even with over 11,000 Instagram followers, she's more focused on building genuine relationships—online and off—than chasing engagement. For her, design isn't about ego or aesthetic signatures; it's about helping people feel truly at home in their spaces. The business didn't happen overnight. It was ten years of quiet hustle, small wins, big learning curves, and showing up again the next day. You'll learn: ✅ How to lead projects (and set boundaries) when contractors push back ✅ Why visibility matters—and how Wandra handled being underestimated ✅ Systems and client processes that helped her turn a hobby into a real business ✅ What she's doing now to market her firm without burning out on Instagram If you're an interior designer looking to grow a business that reflects who you are—and makes money doing it—this is the episode that's going to help you get there. Listen now and remember: being underestimated might be your greatest edge. (0:00) The “Pretty Woman” moment that shaped Wandra's mindset (0:50) Wandra's origin story and entering the interior design world (4:40) Why representation in the design industry matters (12:30) Pivoting from cosmetology to design and going back to school (15:50) Learning the hard way: pricing, client management, and early business mistakes (22:40) Building confidence and refining systems and client processes (30:50) Grassroots marketing, networking, and digital growth About Wandra Cain Wandra Cain is the founder and principal designer of WCA Interiors, a full-service interior design firm based in Easton, Pennsylvania. With a focus on creating refined yet livable luxury, Wandra believes that a well-designed home should serve as a sanctuary, capturing the spirit of the client and enhancing their lifestyle. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, ensuring each space reflects its inhabitants' unique personalities and needs. Website Instagram: @wcainteriors

In this episode of Mind Shift, Aaron and Erwin McManus dive deep into the rapid growth of the Mind Shift Podcast, reflecting on its impact and the evolution of their community. They introduce the $25/month Mind Shift membership, which offers private episodes, community calls, and exclusive content on the app "Skool" explaining why they chose it over Patreon. The conversation shifts to the Academy Awards, where they discuss the growing gap between Hollywood's elite and general audiences. Films like Emilia Perez and Anora become focal points, sparking a debate on whether the Academy prioritizes ideological messaging over compelling storytelling. Erwin points out how many of these films fail to resonate with everyday viewers, raising questions about Hollywood's direction and the broader cultural narratives shaping entertainment.Aaron and Erwin also examine how certain films normalize controversial themes, such as sex work. They discuss Anora and its portrayal of prostitution, reflecting on past films like Pretty Woman that romanticized the industry. Drawing from Erwin's personal experience working with individuals involved in prostitution, they highlight the harsh realities behind the glamorized depictions. This leads to a broader discussion on the influence of pornography, sex work, and the media's role in shaping perceptions about these industries. As the discussion turns to media influence, Aaron and Erwin explore how public narratives are often manipulated. They dissect government policies, media distortion, and how news outlets selectively frame stories to serve political agendas.
