In this episode of Run the Numbers, CJ Gustafson sits down with Larry Contrella, General Partner at JMI Equity, to unpack how JMI invests in software without financial engineering or roll-up strategies. Larry explains how the firm builds conviction through founder relationships, long-term partnership, and a product-and-brand-first view of durable growth. They discuss how JMI supports companies through scaling, why operating partners keep returning, and how underwriting looks different in mission-driven sectors like K–12 and nonprofit tech where customers are schools and communities, not Fortune 500s. Larry's background as a competitive runner at Penn ties the conversation together with a clear ethos: patience, discipline, and playing the long game.—SPONSORS:Mercury is business banking built for builders, giving founders and finance pros a financial stack that actually works together. How to Run a Successful Family-Run Mobile Detailing Business & Get Customers Only on Facebook and No Website! In this inspiring discussion, Anthony Henderson of Better Than New Mobile Detailing in Louisville, KY, shares his unique, simplified approach to running a successful and profitable mobile detailing business—with his family by his side! Anthony is a rare example of an owner who has intentionally kept his business small and family-run to prioritize quality of life, including homeschooling his children, and he shares how his family is part of the detailing work. Key Takeaways for Detailers: Low Barrier to Entry: You can start a mobile detailing business with just $500 to $600 and a minivan. Facebook is Your Main Tool: Anthony gets consistent, daily work by running simple, targeted Facebook ads and manages all his bookings through Facebook Messenger, without needing a dedicated website or an email marketing list. He can book a customer in about a minute using a simple script. His first ads ran for just $5 a day and filled his calendar two weeks out with 3 or 4 appointments daily. Keep Your Eyes on Your Own Business: Anthony recommends focusing on what makes sense for your business and avoiding distraction by what other detailers are charging or doing, even blocking other detailers on his Facebook page to maintain focus. Keep Reviews On: He's one of the few detailers who keeps his Facebook reviews turned on, having over 500 reviews, which builds immediate trust with new customers. Marketing Tip: Anthony discusses using CapCut templates for creating quick, engaging before-and-after videos for organic content. Anthony proves that success isn't about scaling to an intimidating size with massive overhead and staff—it's about finding a simple, focused, and profitable system that works for you and your family. #MobileDetailingBusiness #FacebookMarketing #FamilyBusiness #EntrepreneurLife #SmallBusinessTips #CarDetailing #NoWebsiteNeeded #PricingStrategy #BetterThanNewMobileDetailing #WorkLifeBalance Calling All Detailers include Detailing Enthusiasts - DIY and Detail Professionals. It's a conversation that we would rather have no need to take place with a woman who I'd rather never have met, at least in the context in which we have met. 15 years ago this week, Tal Hartuv was nearly stabbed to death as she witnessed the murder of her friend Kristine Luken, an American Christian, before her eyes. Its an auspicious "anniversary," especially in the wake of two years of war against Islamic terrorists, and the recent "ceasefire" that saw one of the savages who stabbed her multiple times and murdered Kristine, released. This is a compelling and important reflection based on current events Get information about how you can join FOOTSTEPS at https://genesis123.co/footsteps/For information about and how to register for Root & Branch, please go to www.RootandBranchIsrael.comConnect with the Genesis 123 Foundation at www.Genesis123.co and learn how you can host Shabbat in your community.FB - www.facebook.com/Genesis123Foundation Twitter - @Genesis123FIG - Genesis_123_FoundationFind out how you can be part of Run for Zion and bless Israel with every step at www.RunforZion.com.

We look at the Air India Boeing 787 crash and the friction between investigators, Boom Supersonic's plan for stationary power generation, Spirit Airlines' new labor agreements, the canceled TSA labor contract, DHS purchase of Boeing 737s, ethics and the FAA Administrator, the V-22 Osprey accident rate, A-10 retirement postponement, return of PanAm, and fumes in the cabin. Aviation News Air India Boeing 787 Crash Probe Leads to Tussle Between Investigators India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and U.S. agencies, such as the NTSB and FAA, investigating the Air India crash have clashed over where and how to read out the flight recorders, access to evidence, and the overall pace and transparency of the investigation. U.S. officials reportedly feared a lack of openness, while Indian officials pushed back strongly against what they saw as outside interference and challenges to their competence. Boeing 787, courtesy Air India. Preliminary technical findings point toward the 787's fuel control switches being moved from “RUN” to “CUTOFF,” starving both engines of fuel shortly after takeoff. Some U.S. sources suspect deliberate pilot action, while Indian authorities have downplayed pilot culpability in public. Source article in the Wall Street Journal: Officials Clash in Investigation of Deadly Air India Crash Air India Admits Compliance Culture Needs Overhaul After Flying Airbus Without Permit, Document Shows An Air India investigation found that one of its Airbus planes conducted eight commercial flights without an airworthiness permit. “Systemic failures” were cited, and the airline admitted it needed to make compliance improvements. Boom Supersonic Secures Breakthrough AI Engine Deal Boom Supersonic is developing the Symphony propulsion system to power its Overture supersonic airliner. At the same time, AI data centers require enormous compute power, and they need energy to do that. Boom says that it will develop the land-based Superpower 42-megawatt natural gas turbine, based on the Symphony engine. If successful, the Superpower would generate a revenue stream and provide operating data. Crusoe Energy has 29 Superpower units on order, with delivery expected in 2027. Major aero‑derivative OEMs offering ground power generation include: General Electric, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, Rolls‑Royce, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. AvWeek reports that Boom has closed a $300 million funding round, which the company says, together with the AI gas turbine deal, will be sufficient to complete development of the Symphony and initial Overture aircraft. Shortly after takeoff, the plane narrowly avoided a collision with a US Air Force refueling tanker. Spirit Airlines Reaches Another Milestone in its Restructuring as Pilots and Flight Attendants Ratify Agreements Spirit Airlines announced the ratification of labor agreements with pilots (represented by the Air Line Pilots Association) and flight attendants (represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA). The two agreements are subject to court approval. 82% of the pilots voted in favor of the contract, which allows temporary reductions in pay rates and retirement contributions effective January 1, 2026. Pay rates are restored through guaranteed increases on August 1, 2028, and January 1, 2029. Company-funded retirement contributions will be fully restored by July 1, 2029. See ALPA Press Release: Spirit Airlines Pilots Ratify Restructuring Agreement. US invalidates union contract covering 47,000 TSA officers, AFGE vows to challenge The American Federation of Government Employees represents airport screening officers and plans to file a lawsuit after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem terminated the collective bargaining agreement. DHS plans to implement a new labor framework on January 11, 2026, when the collection of union dues from TSA officers’ paychecks will cease. TSA said the new labor framework “will return the agency back into a security-focused framework that prioritizes workforce readiness, resource allocation and mission focus with an effective stewardship of taxpayer dollars.” US signs nearly $140m deal to purchase six Boeing 737s for use in deportations The Department of Homeland Security signed a contract with Arlington, Virginia-based Daedalus Aviation Corporation to purchase six Boeing 737 planes for deportation operations. DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said: “This new initiative will save $279m in taxpayer dollars by allowing ICE to operate more effectively, including by using more efficient flight patterns.” Daedalus Aviation Corporation focuses on turnkey flight operations and specialized charter services for government and high‑stakes commercial clients. They emphasize contingency, evacuation, and other critical missions. Senator says FAA administrator failed to sell multimillion-dollar airline stake as promised Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Washington) says FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford promised to sell his multimillion-dollar stake in Republic Airways under his ethics agreement, but he has failed to do so. Bedford agreed to sell all his shares within 90 days of his confirmation, but 150 days have now passed. In a letter to Bedford, Sen. Cantwell writes, “It appears you continue to retain significant equity in this conflicting asset months past the deadline set to fully divest from Republic, which constitutes a clear violation of your ethics agreement. This is unacceptable and demands a full accounting.” New V-22 Mishap Reviews Find Material Issues with Osprey, Poor Communication Between Services Two new reports point to faulty parts, poorly understood maintenance procedures, and a lack of communication across the services. The result was a lack of safety and reliability across the Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. One report was from the Naval Air Systems Command, and the other was from the Government Accountability Office. Both had been in the works for two years. Twenty people were killed in V-22 Osprey accidents from 2022 to 2024. Congress Postpones A-10 Retirement The A-10 Thunderbolt II (the Warthog) close support aircraft has been on the verge of retirement for years. The National Defense Appropriations Act (NDAA) directs the Air Force to keep at least 103 A-10 aircraft in its inventory until a phaseout in 2029. The NDAA limits retirement plans for other aircraft: KC-10 tankers, the F-15E Strike Eagle, and the E-3 Sentry surveillance plane. Delays in supplying replacements are cited as the reason. Pan Am plans future Airbus A320neo operations as part of Miami launch The “new Pan Am” is a startup effort to revive the Pan American World Airways brand as a U.S. Part 121 scheduled airline. Pan American Global Holdings acquired the rights to the Pan Am brand in 2023. Pan Am intends to deploy Airbus A320neo aircraft as part of its future operations in Miami. There are few details about the executive team, but Ed Wegel is described as a Pan Am co-founder. He is also the founder of AVi8 Air Capital, a niche aviation-focused investment and advisory firm with headquarters in the Miami, Florida area. The company is active in the relaunch of Pan Am, and this year (2025), they completed a comprehensive Pan Am business plan. On today's episode, Dan Kaufman, Partner at Meridian Compensation Partners, LLC, based in Atlanta, breaks down why equity can be the biggest compensation bet a board makes and how to spot when that bet is getting too expensive.Key Takeaways:00:00 Introduction.02:33 Equity programs need board oversight because expense and dilution directly affect shareholders.04:49 Run rate tracks annual shares granted versus common shares outstanding.07:06 Share price swings can inflate run rate, so benchmark total grant value against peers, revenue or profit.10:21 Equity depth in the org and vehicle mix are major drivers of dilution.10:56 Stock options usually require more shares than full-value awards to deliver the same value.15:33 To stretch a low reserve, shift equity mix, use more cash, delay or split grants, or use inducement awards for new hires.24:23 Even if proxy advisors flag a plan, reasonable share requests typically pass with proactive shareholder outreach. This episode is brought to you by Meridian Compensation Partners, LLC. Send us a textThe sport keeps growing, the livestreams keep improving, and the fields get deeper every year—so why do so many iconic ultras still offer zero prize money? We sit down with Eric, the builder behind Run Fund, to unpack a direct, no-drama solution: let the community and sponsors crowdfund purses that pay athletes fairly and transparently. No betting, no gimmicks, just clean rails that move money from fans and brands to finishers. We dig into how Run Fund works behind the scenes—escrowed funds, Stripe payouts in seven to ten days, and simple tax handling—plus the decision to split purses 50-50 for men and women by default. Eric explains why the platform leans on existing adjudication for races and FKTs, how it handles athletes serving sanctions, and what happens when a drug test lands months after the podium photos. We also explore the “nonprofit” defense from legacy races, the quiet dependence on brand bonuses, and what it means for an unsponsored winner to take home nothing while a contract athlete cashes a check for the same result. The conversation stretches from six-figure short trail purses to the potential of FKT bounties on iconic routes like the AT, where attempts demand serious logistics and community support. We talk partnerships with organizers who want the visibility of prize money without building new infrastructure, and why grassroots races can benefit just as much as marquee events—because $500 to a regional winner can pull a whole club onto a start line next year. Eric shares early targets like HURT and Black Canyon, thoughts on future international expansion, and a fan-first vision that boosts engagement without crossing into gambling. If you care about fair pay, athlete pathways, and a healthier event ecosystem, this one's for you. In this episode, The Annuity Man discussed: Seeing through product-driven Roth pitches Recognizing political risk in long-term tax planning Keeping conversions separate from annuity products Avoiding shiny-object sales tactics Key Takeaways: Treat Roth conversions as tax decisions rather than annuity strategies. Rely on math and tax guidance instead of sales-driven framing. Understand that tax-free structures like Roths can face future policy shifts. Plan with awareness that political changes may affect long-term assumptions. Run conversion numbers independently of any annuity recommendation. Evaluate tax impact, break-even timing, and personal comfort before acting. Watch for bonuses, churning, and pressure to "flip" existing annuities. Focus on guarantees, documentation, and advice from qualified tax professionals. "You should never do a Roth conversion without talking to a Certified Financial Planner, a CPA, or tax lawyer. Period." — Stan The Annuity Man Connect with The Annuity Man: Website: http://theannuityman.com/ Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com Book: Owner's Manuals: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/how-do-annuities-work YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!
THE Leadership Japan Series by Dale Carnegie Training Tokyo, Japan
In Parts One and Two, we covered the relationship fundamentals: stop criticising, give sincere appreciation, understand what people want, show genuine interest, smile, and remember names. In Part Three, we move to the final three skills that make those principles work in real leadership: listening, speaking in terms of the other person's interests, and making people feel important—sincerely. 1) Be a good listener and encourage others to talk about themselves Many leaders unintentionally weaken relationships because they listen selectively. If the conversation isn't "useful," they tune out. The problem is that people notice—and they disengage. As the article puts it: "Some people are boring when they talk about themselves and I tune out, because I only want to hear stuff that is of interest to me, like where are the results". That doesn't sound like a good approach to build an engaged team, does it? A better standard is to make learning about your people part of your leadership job. Listening isn't passive; it's the gateway to trust, cooperation, and commitment. The practical challenge is that many leaders don't know what questions to ask—so here is a simple conversation framework the article recommends using a "memory linking technique": Nameplate, House, Family, Briefcase, Airplane, Tennis Racket, Ideas. The listening framework (and how to use it) Nameplate: their name—and whether you pronounce it correctly. The article shares an example where a leader's effort to pronounce a full name properly made the person feel valued, because others had defaulted to an easier nickname. House: where they live now, where they have lived, and where they want to live in the future. Family: family composition and what matters outside work; relationships often deepen through shared life connections (like children attending the same school). Briefcase: the content of their work—the reality of what they do every day. When you understand the details, you better understand their "personal situation" and what pressures they operate under. Airplane: travel experiences, preferences, and recommendations (including places like onsen). Tennis Racket: hobbies and interests. People can sit next to each other for years and never know what the other person truly enjoys—because no one asks. Ideas: what they're noticing in business—market shifts, competitor moves, trends, and information sources worth sharing. Run this framework lightly, not like an interrogation. The goal is simple: learn enough about people that you can lead them as humans, not as job titles. Core takeaway: "Make finding out all about your people your mission and you are sure to find leading your people becomes easier." 2) Talk in terms of the other person's interests This is a leadership multiplier: when you connect your requests to what someone cares about, cooperation becomes easier and resistance drops. But what if you don't know what they care about? The article's answer is blunt and practical: ask more questions—and return to listening. It also points out a reality leaders often forget: people may not reveal what they are interested in immediately because they are still deciding whether they can trust you. You earn the right to understand their interests by showing consistent respect and curiosity. As you ask questions and learn more, you also uncover similarities and shared ground—making trust-building easier and faster. 3) Make the other person feel important—and do it sincerely People want to feel that their work matters and that they matter to the organisation. Yet many leaders stay locked on outcomes and forget the process is powered by humans, not machines. The article states it clearly: "Often, we are working hard but get no recognition for it… We are not machines. Everything we do is driven by our mindset and our commitment. We want to be recognised for that." This is where leadership can go wrong—because recognition can become manipulation if it isn't real. The article highlights that "honesty", "sincerity", and being "genuine" run through these principles for a reason. Without those caveats, the principles become tools for manipulation—and people see through it. Conclusion: Your relationship advantage this week If you want stronger relationships with your team, don't overcomplicate it: Listen better and encourage people to talk about themselves. Ask enough questions to discover what matters to them. Connect your communication to their interests. Recognise people in a way that is honest, sincere, and genuine. Or in the final challenge posed by the article: how will you apply these principles this week to develop stronger relationships and create positive influence?

Here's a truth that'll make you uncomfortable: Getting rejected isn't the real problem. The real problem is that you're not doing the work upfront to lower the probability of rejection in the first place. That's the insight that hit when Wendy Ramirez, a leading Mexican sales expert and author of Lo que nadie habla de las ventas: Estrategias para no ser llamarada de petate or What Nobody Talks About in Sales: Strategies to Avoid Being a Flash in the Pan, joined this week's episode about handling rejection on Ask Jeb on The Sales Gravy Podcast. After forty years in sales, I've been rejected yesterday, I'll get rejected tomorrow, and I've been rejected so many times that I almost don't even feel it anymore. But that doesn't mean you can just "let it roll off your back" like some sales trainers tell you. If you're struggling with rejection, you're not alone. And more importantly, you're not broken. There's a biological reason it hurts so badly, and there are concrete techniques you can use to handle it. The Biology of Rejection: Why Your Brain Is Working Against You Here's what most sales trainers won't tell you: Rejection is supposed to hurt. It's baked into your DNA. Forty thousand years ago, human beings lived in small groups around campfires. If you got kicked out of the group and walked away from that campfire into the dark, you were in danger. You were part of the food chain. There were things out there hunting you, rival tribes fighting over scarce resources, and being alone meant you probably weren't going to pass on your genes. So human beings who avoided rejection were more likely to survive. This fear of rejection became an evolutionary advantage, and it's still with us today. That's why selling is so hard. It's why most people don't want to go into sales. Walk into the accounting department and ask if anyone wants to make cold calls with you. They're going to look at you like you've got four heads because nobody wants to be in a profession where you have to do something that unnatural. This avoidance of rejection serves us really well in most of our life. You need to get along with your family, your coworkers, other people in the world. Knowing where the line is that would get you rejected is super important to being able to work as a team. But in sales? It's killing your performance. The Truth About Objections: You're Creating Them When people reject you or give you an objection, what they're expressing is their fear. They're expressing their fear of moving forward, their fear of change, their fear about whether or not you'll do what you say you're going to do. And here's the brutal part: Most of the time, you created that fear. The easiest way to deal with an objection is to do good discovery and do a good job in the selling process. When salespeople make the mistake of not doing any discovery, they don't have any ammunition. So the rejection sounds like this: "Your price is too high." That's the only way a person really knows how to explain it. If they don't like you, they'll say, "We need to go think about this." Think about it this way. If you do a great job of building the relationship, asking questions, listening, getting all of their pain and aspirations on the table, and then telling their story back to them in the context of how you can help them solve their problems, then you've earned the right to ask them. When you ask and they give you an objection, you know what to do because you already have that information. You're just bringing back and putting on the table the things that they already told you. The worst rejections I've gotten? They're usually when I lost a deal because I didn't do discovery. And then I found out after the fact that I missed something I shouldn't have missed. It's not so much the rejection that hurts. It's the shame and the gut punch that I didn't do my job as a salesperson, and therefore I created the environment that made that objection so big that I couldn't get past it because I had no information to work with. The Ledge Technique: Your Magic Quarter Second Let's get practical. You're on a prospecting call, you're engaging another person, and they hit you with an objection which feels like rejection. What do you do? Use a technique called the ledge. Neuroscientists would call it the magic quarter second that allows your executive brain (your prefrontal cortex) to get in control of your emotional brain (your limbic system) and that little structure inside your brain called the amygdala that triggers the fight or flight response. The ledge is just something you've memorized that you say automatically whenever you get that particular objection. The thing about prospecting objections is that we know every potential one. They're not surprising. People are going to say, "I don't have any time," "I'm not interested," "I'm already working with someone," "Your prices are too high," "This is not a good time for me," "I'm not the right person." So if someone says, "I'm too busy right now," I just say, "I figured you would be. And that's exactly why I called." That's all I say. The reason I have that memorized is because when they say that, rather than getting consumed by the fight or flight response, I know exactly what to say. In that magic quarter second, my brain that's smart takes over and says, "This is not a threat. This is just a person who says they don't have enough time right now, and you know exactly how to handle it." Relating: The Slower Form of the Ledge If you're in a slower type of objection (let's say you're asking someone to buy from you), use a form of the ledge by relating with them. When someone gives you an objection, they're expecting conflict because we're just human beings. If I tell you no, I'm expecting you to come back at me. So they give you the objection and they're ready for it. If you punch back, they're going to punch back. Everybody loses. But instead, if you relate to them, you lower the temperature. You get on their side of the table. You show empathy without agreeing with them. Here's what that sounds like in practice: Someone says, "This is more than I wanted to pay." You could say, "Well, look, it's really not that expensive and you're going to get so much out of it." Or you could say, "I totally get where you're coming from. It sounds to me like you're someone who makes really good decisions with their money." You're not agreeing that the price is too high. You're agreeing that they're a person who makes good decisions with their money. You're lowering the conflict level and increasing the collaborative level. You're diffusing them and breaking their pattern. Then you can go into, "When you say it's a little bit more than you wanted to pay, how do you mean? What does that mean to you?" But you always start with relating to them. The One Basic Truth About Objections Here's something you need to understand: In every sales conversation, while facing every objection, it is the human being that has the greatest emotional discipline that is most likely to have control over the conversation. And if you control the conversation, you can handle the objection. This is called relaxed assertive confidence. When you demonstrate this behavior, it almost acts like a magnet. People lean into you. And emotionally (because emotions are contagious), it causes them to respond in kind. When you come off as relaxed and confident, suddenly they lower their conflict level and they become more confident in you as well. There's nothing that handles objections better than pure old confidence. Persistence Always Finds a Way to Win Let me leave you with this: Persistence always finds a way to win. Always. In the US, 44 percent of salespeople only face rejection once before they give up. 78 percent give up after asking twice. 91 percent give up after asking only four times. But on average, it takes eight asks to get someone to say yes to you. So think about that. The statistics are in your favor. The more you're persistent, the more you keep asking, the more likely you're going to get what you want. The more you face rejection, the more likely you're going to get what you want. The inspirational part? Doing that is really hard. It takes discipline, and discipline is defined as sacrificing what you want now for what you want most. The easiest, fastest way to put on that emotional armor and dive into objections and rejections is to know exactly what it is that you want. So that in that moment when your brain is saying to you, "Run, don't do this, don't face it," you remember that on the other side of that rejection is the one thing that you want more than anything else in the world. And you're willing to go through it, around it, under it. No matter what it takes. You're willing to do whatever it takes to get that thing that you want. That's when rejection stops being the problem and starts being just another step in your process. Ready to transform your prospecting approach and fill your pipeline? Third-Quarter Meltdown at SoFi The Detroit Lions had a halftime lead at SoFi and left with a lesson. The NFL punishes teams that nap after the break, and the third quarter did the damage. Three straight three-and-outs. Short fields for Los Angeles. The defense buckled. The Rams took whatever they wanted. A slip in the postgame summed it up, calling it a three-quarter game before catching it. That is how it played. The game swung in 15 minutes, and the Lions could not claw back. This was not a one-off blip. It mirrored the recent pattern. Since early October the Lions have whipsawed win to loss to win again. The common thread is the third quarter and the struggle to steady the wheel when the script flips. Against the Rams, the reset out of the locker room never came. The Lions waited until the fourth to find rhythm. Too late. Identity Crisis on Offense The Detroit Lions offense lacks a reliable backbone. In the first half, they found it. David Montgomery churned tough yards. Six carries. Thirty-one yards. Early-down success. Manageable thirds. That is how you protect your quarterback against a strong Rams front and a top scoring defense. Then halftime hit, and the plan dissolved. Early-down chuck and duck. Long thirds. Montgomery vanished. Jahmyr Gibbs struggled to dent the wall. The approach drifted from what worked to what played into Los Angeles' hands. The play-caller change was supposed to clarify things. The overall numbers still look fine on paper, especially scoring. But how the Lions get there shifts week to week and quarter to quarter. That is why the roller coaster persists. This team needs a repeatable core idea. Run to set terms. Stay on schedule. Use play action off that. Until the Lions lock into that, the variance will keep biting good game plans in half. Trenches in Trouble Grey underscores the most urgent problem - the offensive line. Tristan Colon is not the answer at left guard. The film and the result say it. If Christian Mahogany is not ready, Miles Frasier has to be the next man up. Graham Glasgow is gutting it out. Taylor Decker is playing through a shoulder. Penei Sewell gets his ankle wrapped every week while carrying the load. The unit is battered, and it shows when the rotation hits the bottom of the depth chart. The offseason priority is clear, but December is here. Protection and the run game are the lifelines for the identity this offense keeps misplacing. Get Montgomery back in early. Make life simpler for everyone across the front. Pass Rush Plan and Secondary Strain The defensive line plan needs a reset. Time to pressure is among the league's worst, and it played out in Los Angeles. Aidan Hutchinson leads in pressures, but they arrive late. That invites disaster for a man-coverage secondary. Puka Nacua and the Rams feasted while Matthew Stafford sat clean and patient. You cannot ask corners to shadow NFL separators for that long and expect a win rate. Fix it with design, not just effort. Heat early. Change launch points. Win on first down to unlock the rush. If the front speeds up the clock, the coverage can breathe. If not, the Lions will keep chasing games they should control. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb1cCPeMh-U #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #third-quartermeltdown #threestraightthree-and-outs #shortfieldsforlosangeles #ramsfront #topscoringdefense #offensivelinedepth #tristancolon #davidmontgomery #jahmyrgibbs #aidanhutchinson Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textWriter/director Jeff Hupp joins The Fixate & Binge Podcast to discuss his 2025 indie feature BAND ON THE RUN— a heartfelt, DIY road-trip film shot in just eight days that captures a fleeting moment in the late 1990s Detroit Garage Rock scene.Centered on the rock trio 'Hot Freaks', the film follows drummer Jesse Grant (Matthew Perl) as he rallies his bandmates to chase a last-chance opportunity to play SXSW, hoping to escape the gravitational pull of dead-end jobs and inherited disappointment. What begins as a familiar “band on the road” story becomes something more intimate when Jesse's paraplegic father (Larry Bagby) joins the journey — grounding the film in a deeply human exploration of ambition, regret, and the fragile bond between parent and child. In this conversation, Hupp reflects on Detroit's often-overlooked music history, the realities of ultra-low-budget filmmaking, his own background in advertising, and why Band on the Run is ultimately less about success than the courage to try. Drawing inspiration from films like ALMOST FAMOUS and THE COMMITMENTS, the episode celebrates artists who dare to take their shot — even when the odds are stacked against them.Band on the Run is now streaming on Amazon Prime!Thank you for listening! Dr Alschuler is known for bridging rigorous evidence with deeply human practice, helping people navigate not just cancer treatment, but the long arc of survivorship that follows. Her work spans circadian biology, metabolic health, botanical therapeutics, lifestyle medicine, and the psychology of living well after cancer.Their conversation travels through the evolving landscape of survivorship, delves into what high-quality follow-up care actually looks like, how to integrate whole-person philosophy within a conventional and often fragmented medical system, and what an ideal post-treatment care pathway would include. From insomnia to fatigue, melatonin to magnesium, morning light to meal timing, they unpack the practical tools that genuinely help restore circadian regulation — and why circadian disruption is far more consequential than most oncology guidelines acknowledge. They also explore exercise as a survival enhancer, how to guide intensity safely for those wary of over-exertion, and why maintaining muscle may be one of the most under-recognised cancer-prevention strategies. Adaptogens, botanicals, and supplement selection all feature, with clear insight into what works, for whom, and where caution is needed. They close with a deep dive into insulin resistance, nutrition strategies, carbohydrate restriction, soy, alcohol, processed food, vitamin D, and the broader metabolic terrain influencing recurrence risk.Dr. Alschuler is past-President and past-Board member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and a founding board member and Past-President of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She has been an invited speaker to more than 350 scientific/medical conferences, published over 27 peer-reviewed articles, been an investigator on 8 research studies, written 9 chapters for medical textbooks, and has co-authored two books, Definitive Guide to Cancer, now in its 3rd edition, and Definitive Guide to Thriving After Cancer. The American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) recognized Dr. Alschuler in 2014 as Physician of the Year. She also received an honorary degree from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and the Joseph Pizzorno Founders award from Bastyr University in the same year. She was honored with the AANP President's award in 2016 and received the Impact award from the National Association of Nutrition Professionals in 2017. In 2020, she received the Sheikh Zayed International Award in Naturopathy. How do you balance a high-performance dental career with being an effective parent? What strategies help you stay sane amidst the organized chaos of family life? How can showing up as your best self benefit both your patients and your children? Dr. Shandy Vijayan and Dr. Raabiha Maan join Jaz in this nonclinical episode to share their experiences of parenthood in dentistry. From the unique perspectives of two dentist-moms and the dad viewpoint, they discuss the real-life challenges of raising children while maintaining personal well-being. They also share practical tips, book recommendations, and actionable strategies for self-care and emotional regulation—helping you create a balanced family life while thriving in your career. During the episode, Jaz also mentions KARRI — a fun, screen-free voice messenger that helps kids stay safely connected with parents and friends, without social media or internet access. Reduce clinical load early to focus on children; career focus increases after ~12 yrs. Prioritize time with kids over tasks; coordinated parenting schedules help. House help significantly reduces stress, frees energy for quality interactions. Support networks (family, in-laws, professional communities) are essential. Grandparents: allow flexibility; avoid micromanaging childcare. Returning to work: stress, costs (GDC, indemnity, childcare), skill gaps, guilt. Dentistry = high-performance + emotional labor; manage energy carefully. Quick mental reset between work/home recommended; part-time can boost longevity. Parent happiness + strong parental relationship = major factor in kids' emotional regulation. Run family like a small business: systems, schedules, clear roles. Self-regulation, EQ, and self-care benefit family, patients, and professional life. You won't build a successful gym by guessing what people want. You just can't read minds—but every entrepreneur tries to do that, and it's costly.Today on “Run a Profitable Gym,” Two-Brain founder Chris Cooper provides the simple fix: Start using the “just ask method"—a proven way to boost every single metric in your gym.Chris walks through exactly which questions you must ask to improve your gym's marketing, sales, retention, pricing, ROI on expenses, staff development and net owner benefit. The key insight: Don't guess; just ask.For example, you might assume clients want a kettlebell class because you love kettlebells. If you meet with clients and ask what they want, you might discover 10 of them are training for running events, and you have a prime opportunity to boost average revenue per member with a race prep program.Or perhaps you can't hold onto staff people. What if you ask what they want to earn and accomplish, then show them how to do it? They'll stay longer and allow you to focus on building the business as the CEO.Watch to discover the questions top gym owners ask to improve every key performance indicator and build incredibly profitable businesses.Get Coop's “Exactly What to Say” guide in Gym Owners United, linked below.LinksGym Owners UnitedBook a Call0:01 - Stop guessing & just ask5:17 - Improve your marketing & sales13:25 - Boost client retention & value17:53 - Cut expenses & pay yourself more25:13 - Payoff of the “just ask” method

In this episode, Philip Ideson speaks with Tammy Rimes, Executive Director of National Cooperative Procurement Partners, and Rick Bond, Safeware's Chief Revenue Officer.
