It's the most wonderful time of the year for nerds — San Diego Comic-Con, aka “Fandom Christmas”! In this episode, we break down the highlights from this year's event. While many of our usual fandoms were noticeably absent, there were still some exciting announcements and moments worth geeking out over. And yes, we know this episode is fashionably late — life really got in the way this time! But better late than never when it comes to celebrating SDCC. This bonus Out Now with Aaron & Abe is a return to Planet of the Geeks. Abe interviews Aaron about his time spent at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. This leads to plenty of stories regarding the different panels attended, the experiences had both on the exhibit floor and in the Gaslamp District, and early thoughts on upcoming things such as Coyote vs. Acme, Project Hail Mary, and more. Additionally, there are plenty of tangents and other fun things related to this week's bonus topic. On Prophecy Radio episode #139, Karen and Kristen chat about all things SDCC! There's a cast panel to discuss, a trailer to break down, and a couple of additional news items you won't want to miss either. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. Let's talk about the cast panel (00:08:00) Dan Shotz gives us a list of monsters we are definitely going to see in season 2. More practical sets this season, little to no Volume stage. Daniel Diemer proves his Riordan-verse fanhood with a story about sharing the books with his family and then getting to show them the set. Dior has a fantastic grasp of Clarisse's psychology in season 2. Hopefully someday we will get to see this teaser clip (and see a glimpse of Grover in the wedding dress, maybe?)! They built the entire set for the chariot race, which just seems insanely impressive to us. We get to hear a lot about on-set antics, as well as some post-shooting shenanigans involving Aryan, the actor playing Polyphemus, and Walker Scobell. A video from Rick Riordan himself reveals the two biggest casting announcements for season 3: Meet Nico and Bianca DeAngelo! The trailer discussion (00:36:19) The first four characters we see are the trio and Luke the blade-poisoner... that feels significant. The undead/ghost soldiers with Clarisse look like they may come from more than one war era. Do you think casual viewers may believe that the black cloaked figure is Tantalus? Percy and Clarisse are fighting again. Are they dressing Luke in light colors for a reason? This archer we see: Silena Beauregard? Or A Hunter of Artemis? We think there is a lot this Alison Simms character can bring to the show. A quick appearance from the Oracle. Someone has a trident and saves Percy from being killed by Luke. Meet Tyson the cyclops! The Gray Sisters are going to be a really fun moment early this season. The rest of the news (01:03:04) We talk for quite a bit about the Nico and Bianca casting. A Walker Scobell story about his chemistry read has us REALLY excited for Nico. Need a recap of season 1 without watching all the episodes? This EW recap video has a lot of visual reminders of all the biggest moments, characters, and more in season 1. Courtney B. Vance steps into play Zeus and knocks his tribute to Lance Reddick out of the park. Courtney's Zeus gets a few pats on the back from the show's stars. Fun fact: The actress playing Thalia played Lance Reddick's child in a Netflix series. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 140, where we'll discuss The Red Pyramid chapters 33 and 34 (we promise we will this time), as well as get you up to date on whatever Percy Jackson news might pop up. This episode's hosts are: Karen and Kristen Each episode, Prophecy Radio's hosts will discuss any official news coming out of Camp Half-Blood before doing a chapter by chapter reread of Percy Jackson or one of Rick Riordan's other series. This episode of Star Warsologies is our San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel entitled "Star Wars Andor - From Resistance to Rebellion" and features Dr. Drea Letamendi, Desmond Hassing, Jendia Gammon, Robert Dagnall, and Dr. Catherine Hicks as panelists, moderated by podcast co-host James Floyd. Panel description: Fighting the tyranny of the Galactic Empire is dangerous work, whether in the halls of power on Coruscant or in the dark recesses of the Outer Rim. Panelists will dive deep into the popular show Star Wars: Andor, especially season 2, and examine themes of resisting authoritarianism and aspects of outright rebellion. How do the choices made by Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, and Luthen Rael make the galaxy more free but also more perilous? Psychologists Drea Letamendi (Lattes with Leia, The Arkham Sessions, Aliens Expanded) and Catherine Hicks will take you into the minds of Imperial loyalists like Dedra Meero and insurgent fighters like Saw Gerrera. Also charging into the fray will be speculative fiction author Jendia Gammon (Atacama, Doomflower, The Inn at the Amethyst Lantern), San Diego State rhetoric and writing instructor Robert Dagnall, and American Indian studies professor Desmond Hassing. Hosted by James Floyd (Star Wars author, Star Wars Insider regular contributor, Star Warsologies podcast co-host). Fight the Empire! For the past year, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has been as exciting and essential as DC's Absolute Universe or Skybound's Energon Universe. Writer Jason Aaron and artist Juan Ferreyra have built an unmissable monthly comic, not to forget the numerous other splinter titles and crossover minis. Shortly before San Diego Comic-Con International, The Hollywood Reporter announced Aaron and Ferreyra's departure, and we were a little heartbroken. Their time on the book was too brief, but if they must go, the news that cartoonist extraordinaire Gene Luen Yang and lifelong Turtle maniac Freddie E. Williams II eased the pain some. One of our missions for this year's San Diego Comic-Con was to return with more news regarding the TMNT baton pass between Aaron and Ferreyra and Yang and Williams. After moderating IDW Publishing's “The New Era of Turtle Power” panel, we retreated to the Hilton Bayfront, where we had a lengthy conversation with Gene Luen Yang about his passion for the Turtles and how he would apply it to the series, starting with issue thirteen. Also discussed at San Diego Comic-Con, Andrew Joustra, the script coordinator for the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, will write an arc for the newly announced Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, bringing the iconic Fugitoid character to the latest iteration of the TMNT universe. As passionate fans of Fugitoid ourselves, we had to trap Joustra in a media room for a deep dive into his take on the character and why he put so much of himself into the troubled fugitive android. Today, you get two podcasts for the price of one. With Gene Luen Yang, we discuss where we find the Turtles when his story begins, how they've grown throughout the Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra run, and why a certain new antagonist was necessary for his story. With Andrew Joustra, we explore the Fugitoid concept, his relationship with the Turtles through the various franchise incarnations, and why this story is so deeply personal. Be sure to follow Gene Luen Yang on his website, Blue Sky, Instagram, and TikTok. Also, follow Andrew Joustra on his website, Blue Sky, and Instagram. They're constantly snagging rockstar creators like James Stokoe, Tom Scioli, Andrew MacLean, Louie Joyce, Jake Smith, Eric Powell, Rosie Knight, and Oliver Ono to unleash their talents on cinema's most significant kaiju universe. And this July, IDW is taking their Godzilla books to the next level by introducing the Kei-Sei era. This new shared universe line begins with Godzilla #1 by Tim Seeley and Nikola Čižmešija. There's a new Godzilla design, a mess load of Kaiju antagonists…and protagonists - plus, superpowered human characters. San Diego Country Club, established in 1897, is the only private club in Southern San Diego County. Originally located near Balboa Park, it moved to its current Chula Vista site in 1920, where architect William Watson designed the region's first all-grass 18-hole course. Known for its rich history and championship pedigree, SDCC has hosted the U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Women's Amateur, and will host the U.S. Senior Women's Open in 2025. On this episode of The Wednesday Match Play Podcast, brought to you by Eden Mill St Andrews, Charles shares the story of his journey to San Diego Country Club, reflecting on his unique background as a former political campaign manager. He dives into his path with the CMAA, culminating in his achievement of becoming a Certified Club Manager. Charles also reminisces about his favorite Business Management Institute, discusses the impact mentors have had on his career, and reveals his leadership style and experiences living in San Diego. We take a closer look at how culture shapes the day-to-day experiences and long-term success of a club. This was a fantastic discussion and an honor having Chuck on the show. Let's tee off.

Jace joins Robert Kirkman and David Finch at the press room for Skinbreaker at SDCC 2025. This is a project that is over 7 years in the making. The success Robert has had with other long-term series such as Walking Dead and Invincible has allowed this project to unfold at a slower pace and give David the chance to take his time and put as much detail into the art as he wanted. Plenty of talk about the process, detail and collaboration as well as the decision to release the project as single issues rather than the initial over-sized one-shot originally planned. The creators were a bit cagey about details of the story, but only because they want the story to be discovered by the audience on its own.

Their motto is " Doing things Differently" and it is clear from their presence at SDCC 2025, creator feedback and the incedible quality of their initial titles that they are living to that adage. Focused on giving creators the time to give their best iteration of stories both narratively and artistically, the launch titles coming throughout the remainder of the year certainly reflect the quality that comes from taking their time. With events at SDCC not just foced on industry insiders, but also the fans, Ignition Press is strving to build an egaged community of readers also. Finally, in addition to the creative timelines which allow them to actively market their books to help retailers, Ignition Press also has several other initiatives to help the direct market as well. If you're a fan of genre, there was no better place to be at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 than in Ballroom 20 on Thursday night for the Collider Ladies Night After Dark panel. Ladies Night joined forces with the IFC Entertainment Group to celebrate two titles gearing up for their Shudder debut, and to unveil first looks at three upcoming theatrical releases. Even better? It all happened with five big-screen powerhouses - Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Alexandra Shipp, Katie Douglas and Hassie Harrison. In true Collider Ladies Night fashion, the group began by pinpointing pivotal early career experiences that helped pave the way to their latest projects. After that, Douglas and Harrison revisited their time on the Clown in a Cornfield and Dangerous Animals sets, respectively, and then Keen, Nélisse and Shipp debuted the very first footage for their upcoming films. For Keen and Nélisse, that meant celebrating the world premiere of the teaser trailer for their new horror film, Whistle. Directed by Corin Hardy, Whistle puts the focus on a group of friends who happen upon an ancient Aztec death whistle. When someone blows the whistle or hears its sound, the countdown begins. Their future deaths start coming for them. From there, Shipp put the spotlight on Violent Ends, a revenge thriller that poses the question, “If you lost the most dear thing to you, what the fuck would you do to the people who took it from you?” Collider Ladies Night After Dark had the privilege of showing off one of Shipp's most breathtaking moments in the movie before turning towards another upcoming release, Forbidden Fruits. In that one, Shipp stars opposite Lili Reinhardt, Victoria Pedretti and Lola Tung as a group of women who “work at a Free People-esque mall shop,” and also practice witchcraft. Hosted on Acast.
