In this thought-provoking episode, Scott Smith tackles the age-old question of whether you're meant to be in the spotlight or play a different role. Through personal stories and insights from his own journey and his son's musical aspirations, Scott explores the internal conflict many face between wanting to be "the star" and finding their true calling. Drawing from his experience as an "introverted extrovert," Scott challenges listeners to examine their authentic desires versus societal expectations. He shares how he discovered that being a hybrid – someone who can lead from both the front and behind the scenes – ultimately led to greater fulfillment and success. Featured Story: Scott shares a compelling personal narrative about his son's journey to become a rock star, including a pivotal moment at the Whiskey a Go Go on Sunset Strip. This story serves as a launching point to discuss the importance of understanding whether you truly want to be in the spotlight or if your talents might be better suited to a different role. Key Takeaways: Being in the spotlight isn't necessary for success or fulfillment Your natural inclinations might differ from your perceived aspirations It's possible to be a hybrid – someone who can lead from both front and backstage Success often comes from aligning your role with your authentic desires Pushing yourself into an ill-fitting role can lead to unnecessary frustration Understanding your true motivations is crucial for career satisfaction Memorable Quotes: "I'm very comfortable being out in front with zero need to be in front."  "The absolute truth of being a real rock star is you spend your whole entire life on a tour bus."  "I'm happier when I'm kind of producing the show a little bit, but I've got behind the scenes." Scott's Three-Step Approach: Honestly assess whether you genuinely want to be in the spotlight or if you're pursuing it based on others' expectations Identify your true motivations and what actually drives your satisfaction Align your actions with your authentic desires, whether that means stepping into the spotlight or finding your perfect supporting role Connect With Scott: Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Robert Winfree and Mark Radulich review movies currently on streaming services and in theaters: The Last Showgirl/Anora/Emilia Perez Movie Review! First up is The Last Showgirl (2024). Then we move on to Anora (2024). Finally we review Emilia Perez (2024).The Last Showgirl is a 2024 American drama film directed by Gia Coppola and written by Kate Gersten. It stars Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Billie Lourd, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, and Kiernan Shipka. Its plot focuses on a middle-aged Las Vegas showgirl who is faced with an uncertain future after learning that the revue she has performed in for three decades is scheduled to close. The screenplay was adapted by Gersten from her own play, Body of Work, which she based on her visits to the Jubilee! show shortly before its closure in 2016.The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, and was released in the United States on January 10, 2025. It received generally positive reviews from critics, with Anderson's performance garnering critical praise. The film received two nominations at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Anderson and Best Original Song for "Beautiful That Way". It also received two nominations at the 31st Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for Anderson and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Curtis.Anora is a 2024 American comedy-drama film written, directed, and edited by Sean Baker. It follows the beleaguered marriage between Anora (Mikey Madison), a young sex worker, and Vanya Zakharov (Mark Eydelshteyn), the son of a Russian oligarch. The supporting cast includes Yura Borisov, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan, and Aleksei Serebryakov.Anora premiered on May 21, 2024, at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Palme d'Or and received critical acclaim. It was released theatrically on October 18 by Neon. It was named one of the top 10 films of 2024 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute, and received five nominations at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actress for Madison and Best Director. It grossed $32.5 million worldwide on a $6 million budget, becoming Baker's highest-grossing film.Emilia Pérez is a 2024 Spanish-language musical comedy crime film written and directed by Jacques Audiard. A French production adapted from Audiard's opera libretto, which was loosely based on Boris Razon's 2018 novel Écoute, the film stars Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir, and Édgar Ramírez. The story follows a Mexican cartel leader (Gascón) who enlists a lawyer (Saldaña) to help facilitate their transition into a woman to escape their criminal life. Featuring original songs by Camille, a score by Clément Ducol, and choreography by Damien Jalet, the film was shot in Île-de-France from May to July 2023.Premiering at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, Emilia Pérez received international acclaim for its lead performances, direction, themes, and musical score, winning the Jury Prize and Best Actress award for its female ensemble. However, the film polarized audiences, with criticism in Mexico for cultural misrepresentation, stereotypes, and poorly executed Spanish dialogue, while some LGBTQ groups objected to its portrayal of gender transition. Despite this, it made history at the Golden Globes, winning four awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and earning Karla Sofía Gascón a nomination as the first trans woman in the Best Actress category. Selected as France's submission for Best International Feature Film at the Academy Awards, it was also named one of the American Film Institute's top 10 films of 2024, cementing its status as a groundbreaking yet controversial cinematic work.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is increasingly becoming part of our everyday lives as it is now enhancing the way businesses and health care providers work, as well as assisting in financial fraud detection, cybersecurity, and much more. Its contributions in those areas are mostly invisible to us. But now with the rise of informational/conversational programs like ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and others, more and more of us are including AI-based chatbots more directly in our daily lives--including our spiritual lives. In this episode, Mark Crego and Jeff Pratt join LDF host Dan Wotherspoon in a conversation about integrating ChatGPT in our  spiritual journeys, as both guests use it regularly for this purpose but in quite different ways. The discussion first provides an orientation to what ChatGPT and other chatbot programs do, the sources of information they draw on, and how their security provisions make them "safe" for us to use even as our chats inevitably involve us sharing personal information about ourselves (though not things like bank account, social security, passwords, or other protected info like that). Following this basic information, Mark and Jeff share the way they have been using ChatGPT to enhance their understanding of scriptural texts, as well as in their spiritual journeys. In sharing about these, they actually play snippets (in the computer voice they have chosen) parts of conversations they have had, and they also demonstrate in real time how they query it. They even did a real-time request that asked for a prayer that includes words of encouragement for a project Dan is working on. It is all quite fascinating, and its likely many of us will warm to the idea that AI can, indeed, assist us in our spiritual walks. Listen in!

Send us a textThis week, we conclude our tribute series to the legendary Philip Seymour Hoffman. Nick and Bella spotlight three of Hoffman's most memorable supporting performances. Philip Seymour Hoffman never needed an exuberant amount of screen time to leave his mark on a film. Often, his supporting roles left as big of an impact as the leading characters. First up is one of his earliest roles in the Academy Award-winning film Scent Of A Woman. Next, Hoffman lights up the screen with an uncomfortable amount of energy, charisma, and tension in the juicy 1999 mystery The Talented Mr. Ripley. Finally, we get to explore Hoffman's outstanding comedic chops as he portrays Brandt in the cult classic The Big Lebowski. Also, our producer Sonja Mereu discusses one of Philip's lesser-known films, Pirate Radio (aka The Boat That Rocked). Please let us know your thoughts on this episode and our entire Philip Seymour Hoffman series. Support the showSign up for our Patreon for exclusive Bonus Content.Follow the podcast on Instagram @gimmethreepodcastYou can keep up with Bella on Instagram @portraitofacinephile or Letterboxd You can keep up with Nick: on Instagram @nicholasybarra, on Twitter (X) @nicholaspybarra, or on LetterboxdShout out to contributor and producer Sonja Mereu. Sandy and Terry delve into the latest plagiarism controversy. The Alexander Payne-directed film The Holdovers didn't win for the Best Original Screenplay at the 96th Oscars, but Da'Vine Joy Randolph did take home the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. The film is highly regarded by critics and audiences alike. In early March 2024, reporter Tatiana Siegel at Variety published a report on allegations made by Simon Stephenson, a screenwriter who worked on films such as Luca and Paddington 2. In a 33-page document, Simon claims that The Holdovers, written by David Hemingson, was transposed from his unproduced script, Frisco and that the similarities are “line-by-line” and have been routinely described as “brazen.”
