"It can't just be because it's cool," says UgoVirtual CEO Co-Founder Michael Cohen. "It's got to be effective." He's talking about what works--and what doesn't--for hybrid events. Focusing on the human experience, Michael explains, is key to engagement. That applies to real-world use of XR for conferences, seminars, job training and much more, And if you're creating a conference, festival, workshop or other onsite event, there are ways virtual, augmented or mixed reality can help keep participants engaged.. AR can allow for hands-on training. Holographic historic figures can engage students' interest. A scan of a phone can give attendees digital conference "swag". And Michael, who is also the President of the Toronto chapter of the VR/AR Association, says new 3D creation tools are currently available. Educators, he adds, can expect to see even more of these coming online within the next two to three years. Meanwhile, UgoVirtual specializes in creating hybrid events. Their website highlights the ways augmented, virtual and extended-reality technologies can enhance onsite conferences, meetings and presentations. Michael shared the story of UgoVirtual, explored the ways educators can put XR technology to use and highlighted some new resources for crafting applications. On this edition of Over Coffee®, we cover: How Michael himself first experienced the evolution of immersive technologies; Michael's first AR "wow moment", during his career in advertising; The story of UgoVirtual; How a hybrid experience can work in an educational setting; Several of the resources for creating immersive applications for education and events (including a new, just-announced one from Apple!) Applications of augmented reality for both an academic setting and on-the-job training; One of UgoVirtual's technologies, which adds holographic imaging to a physical setting; What Michael considers the most important lesson he's learned, about XR and its uses.

Previously, Michael was an Assistant Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, Korea. Today he works on digital education projects in sub-Saharan Africa (Nigeria, Tanzania, and Uganda) and often collaborates with INGOs, including the World Bank’s Open Learning Campus and UN-Habitat. He currently works on Foundations for All, a Mastercard Foundation project exploring blended learning pathways for refugees into higher education in Uganda and Lebanon.Michael was a researcher on the Near Future Teaching project, a project that explored how teaching at The University of Edinburgh unfolds over the coming decades, as technology, social trends, patterns of mobility, and new media continue to shift what it means to be at the university. Michael has been awarded The University of Edinburgh Principal's Medal for 2020 for his outstanding contribution to support the university during 2020. In this episode, you will learn how Michael helped his colleagues and students move their courses online by leveraging his experience teaching the online MSc in Digital Education years before the pandemic. #160 My amazing guest this week is Michael Sandler. Michael is a best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and the co-host of the popular Inspire Nation show. He is also the co-creator of Inspire Nation University and the Automatic Writing Experience online course. Our talk today revolved around the concept of elevating consciousness and increasing our awareness in life. Sometimes we can lose our identity and our way a little bit, and that’s okay. We’re here today to tell you about how you can tap into yourself and allow for your inner wisdom to flow, through Automatic Writing. We will talk about some tips that can help you see what is going on in your subconscious and how you can put a stop to negative patterns such as self-sabotaging. About Michael: Michael Sandler is the co-host of the popular Inspire Nation show, a transformational, self-help, spiritually focused podcast and YouTube channel, along with his wife, fellow coach, and teacher, Jessica Lee. He is a best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur, visionary, coach, and the cocreator of Inspire Nation University and the Automatic Writing Experience online course. Having been a world-class athlete and coach, competing at the international level in cycling, along with being a competitive speed-- skater, Ironman triathlete, and runner, Michael has applied those same training skills to being a life coach to teachers, leaders, and visionaries. He is a life-long meditation practitioner and meditation teacher. Two near-death accidents led to the conception of the Inspire Nation show, the creation of the Automatic Writing Experience, and the writing of this book. These devastating accidents led Michael to a much deeper understanding about the world, of Spirit, and of our connection to something greater than ourselves. He calls this "getting the big picture" and from that this book emerged. Once driven purely by performance and results as an endurance athlete, Michael survived the near-fatal accidents that cracked his heart open and helped him discover a kinder, gentler way of moving through life--one that arguably makes an even greater impact on others and the planet. That's what he calls being an open-hearted warrior--and to his mission to elevate consciousness, shift humanity, and help people truly discover their greatest self. Despite twin titanium femurs and hips, as a result of the accidents, he continues to run, skate, and play in the mountains or explore the world in an RV with Jessica and his three kitty cats, along with Roo Roo the Wonder Rooster--always in prayer, always connected to Spirit. #159 My amazing guest this week is Reverend Michael Beckwith. Michael is a New Thought Minister, author, awakener, and founder of the Agape International Spiritual Centre. By founding Agape in 1986, Michael was answering a call to start a spiritual community and to be a teacher of meditation and life visioning. His mission can be described as leaving breadcrumbs for people to start becoming interested in seeing that there is something beyond what their eyes can tell them. During our conversation today, we discuss Michael’s journey and spiritual awakening and the courage it took to be able to pursue his calling. I believe we all have a calling and a mission in life. But sometimes it can be hard to pursue it. If you’ve been looking for the courage to do that, then this is the episode for you. About Michael: Michael Beckwith is a New Thought minister, author, and founder of the Agape International Spiritual Centre in Beverly Hills, California. Beckwith was ordained in Religious Science in 1985. Through Michael’s weekly services, Agape’s University of Transformational Studies and Leadership classes, ministries and other outreach programs, the heart of Agape reaches deep into local and global communities teaching individuals about the transforming, healing power of prayer, meditation, and selfless service. Michael teaches meditation, affirmative prayer, and speaks at conferences and seminars. He is the originator of the Life Visioning Process, a technique purporting to offer its practitioners a method for putting a stop to being a passive tourist in one's life. During the COVID-19 lockdown, when most corporate training stopped,https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelteoh/ ( Michael Teoh) led his company,https://www.thrivingtalents.com/ ( Thriving Talents), to pivot from their usual corporate consulting, team building, and employee training practices to work with SMEs to help their sales teams market and sell better and to boost the performance of work-from-home staff. Since then, Thriving Talents have helped 150 companies generate 5-to-6-figure revenue within the initial 3-month lockdown period. They have also taught thousands of remote staff in Malaysia, India, Singapore, Australia and the US on “Mental Health & Productivity.” Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael accumulated 16 years of experience, working in various capacities as a Management Consultant, Branding Strategist, Outreach Campaigns Director, and Serial Entrepreneur. Michael has served Fortune 500 Companies across 41 countries. “As long as you’re willing. There will always be a path for a better future for you.” Michael Teoh Worst investment everMichael had just started his company, Thriving Talents, in 2013 when he made his worst investment ever. He was very fortunate when he first started. The company got big clients, including fortune 500 companies. Michael was bathing in grandiose and in the prestige of working with the world’s largest, most influential organizations, leaders, and brands. He was making progress in life. Investing in crude oilMichael was approached to invest in crude oil. The investment company told him that he could be the traderhttps://myworstinvestmentever.com/ep165-meb-faber-avoid-the-physical-pain-of-loss-by-sticking-to-your-investment-plan/ ( trading derivatives and commodities). But since he did not have millions of dollars to do that, they advised him to get into drilling the crude oil. Michael figured that made sense. What Michael was buying was land in Canada and the British Virgin Islands so that the investment company could extract crude oil out of it. The company promised Michael a fair return of 12% per year. The return sounded relatively little to Michael, but the company convinced him that anyone promising him 12% a month instead of a year was a scam. Too lucrative a deal, can my family join?Michael did the math quickly and realized that he would get $10,000 every month in return if he were to invest a million dollars. But because he did not have this kind of money, Michael called his grandmother and parents and asked them to join and put their entire savings into it. Though they were not computer savvy, they could not transfer funds luckily missed out on the opportunity. Getting his payoutTrue to their word, the investment company paid Michael his 12% per year for about a year. Now that he had received his money, they asked him to recommend them to other CEOs and friends. While Micahel wanted to share this excellent investment plan with other people, for some reason, he didn’t have that chance to be active and to be serious in promoting it to his inner circle. The cat and mouse games beginOne and a half years later, the company stopped paying. Michael asked them about it, and they told him not to worry; it was just a minor problem with the transaction. Because they had built Michael’s trust for an entire year, he allowed them to pay him in the next six months. Then after six months, they just disappeared. A con game played so wellIn the one and a half years that the company was paying Michael, they held regular meetings. He was invited to go to their posh office, and they would show him actual videos of them going to the site in Canada and the British Virgin Islands. He would see them purchasing the equipment, the drills, and interviewing some chief engineers representing actual oil and gas companies. They even had letters from local governments, acknowledging that the company would be mining crude oil. It all seemed so believable. Accepting that he had

Welcome to 2021, and to a new beginning for all of us, as a collective conversation. It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to Michael Rahman. A successful coach and father of two. In 2010 he hit rock bottom while going through a divorce and had to learn quickly that he was bankrupt and running out of people to blame in his life. With only 14 social media friends, 9 of them being family. He began to realize that what was not working in his life was a direct reflection of who he was. What Michael did is a great example of where to begin the healing process. How he did it is where this share becomes a contribution to us as an audience. The story begins when his then-wife came home from a business trip and said to him she had met someone. Heart-wrenching to hear and even more so to experience, but that wasn’t where this tale took a turn. It was when she didn’t come home that it hit him, and it was there that he decided to… Michael shares from the heart and reveals a recipe for having success in divorce. His story begins here but it certainly doesn’t end there. If you are someone who is looking to turn around your situation, then let Michael share his story with you. He gives away effortlessly the tools he used to create the life he appreciates greatly today, which was built on the very back of his yesterday.
This is: At Home With Our Homies. At Home With Our Homies is an Interview Podcast that started right as COVID-19 Began. Hosted by Jayson Siano, CEO & Founder of Sabre Real Estate, who utilized this extra time home to interview his friends who happen to be the top producers in the Retail, Fitness, Health, Real Estate and Business industry. Listen along for entertaining interviews full of deep perspective on the current state of things along with quirky rapid fire questions and more! Host: Jayson Siano @JaysonSiano Guest: Michael Gutelli @MichaelGutelli Today our own Jay Siano interviews Michael Gutelli, co founder of Clark + Aldine, a Plymouth, MI based design collective rooted in functional + purposeful solutions for the everyday. Over a decade ago Michael and his wife/co founder of Clark + Aldine met in Chicago and lived there together for 10 years. They got married, had their first baby and eventually made the move to Detroit, Michigan to form a tight-knit family support system for their crew. In 2015 Michael and Danielle embarked on the journey of blogging with no expectations, completely blind as to where it would take them. What started as a personal lifestyle blog (momwifefoodie.com) rooted in fashion, food and family quickly morphed into an abundance of content featuring their travels and the process of renovating their first home. Michael and Danielle struggled at times, but overall they balanced the workload quite well. Between writing, shooting, editing, developing and managing the website, creating social content and communicating with partners they were always busy. Things were moving swiftly. Michael and Danielle began receiving inquiries from local brands and businesses to consult, and being the entrepreneurs they were, they obliged. Before they knew it, Michael and Danielle had the blog, more clients than they could count on both hands, two growing boys and a house that was a construction zone. One night over a delicious bottle of wine, Michael and Danielle laid everything out on the table. What they've created. Where they really wanted to be. The struggles. The love. The hate. The aspirations. And the solution. It wasn't easy, but it was right. What Michael and Danielle came to realize is the things they were most passionate about were the things their readers really loved most, too! So here they are today. Clark + Aldine. The two streets Michael and Danielle lived on when their paths crossed. A fusion of diverse experiences, passions and talents. They're moving forward by focusing on family and the things that bring them joy. Like their home renovation and design projects, traveling the world and the everyday craziness of life…yes, that means food too! Oh, and their newly re-branded podcast – the Stay True Podcast.

His journey started when he was taking classes at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. During breaks in classes, he would walk to the Chicago Board of Trade and watch them trade. He was fascinated. After he graduated he moved back to San Francisco, where a friend invited him to the Options Market-Maker trading floor. Michael was attracted to the energy he felt from the traders. When his friend asked him to become his clerk, he quickly pointed out that he only had experience with music. But his friend emphasized that music is the same. Ep. #1.7Summary:Having traveled the globe as a musician--most famously as Whitney Houston's musical director for over 17 years, guest Michael Baker, has seen what it’s like to be a Black man across the world. Now settled in Italy, where he has lived and worked for 15 years, Michael’s insights into racism have evolved and grown. In this episode, we naturally touch on the pandemic and Italy’s response compared to the US response. As one of the hardest-hit countries initially, Michael Baker shares how Italy's community-mindedness helped them overcome the worst of the pandemic. Pointing out, the deep sense of community and responsibility that fellow Italian citizens have and its stark contrast to the individualistic thinking prevalent in the US. Michael talks about his experience of racism in Italy and how he deals with it and although, he has had many uncomfortable moments in Italy, he has never feared for his life as he has in America as a Black man. He recounts stories of being pulled over by cops after being on tour and getting followed around supermarkets in the U.S looking to catch him stealing. Michael discusses the power structure within the US and how the powers that be, are polarizing people and using age-old tactics to even turn Black people against one another-- and that the racist rhetoric coming from the U.S. has taken hold in Italy and other countries--and how the Italy and others are dealing with this. Michael talks about hatred-- believing that it is the "easy" way out --and insists that people focus on the power of story and that the more we can share and get to know one another, the more we can make our own shifts that ultimately accumulate and lead to meaningful change. Michael Unger is a professor of social work and is currently the Canada Research Chair in Child, Family and Community Resilience at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. Although he began his career as a family therapist, today he is a researcher and looks at resilience in populations that under stress. He works around the world to try to understand how social and environmental factors help to foster innovation.Below are some of the things that stood out for me in this episode. What makes someone successful? When you as people this question directly, they usually attribute it to something related to their mindset or grit. Their own self-determination. What Michael and other researchers have discovered is that if you study what makes people successful, access to resources and being in a supportive environment significantly contributes to their success, yet people tend to either understate or credit their success to more internal factors. In the podcast, he talks about interviewing Renaldo (I am assuming CR7 I forgot to ask) and learning that despite Renaldo’s tendency to attribute his success to notions like having a positive mindset his research demonstrates that the world around contributes to your success. See episode 70 with Kate Sutherland for more insights.Asking a different question. Many years ago, Michael began to ask a slightly different question that focuses on how a resourced life contributes to success. This reframe has given him tremendous insight into helping us think about and understand how we build resilience. For him, he heard one too many stories in which one sibling was successful, and the other was not. Often the children would attribute the difference being that the successful child had skills or interests that the environment supported. This led Michael to focus on social and environmental factors that contribute to resilience. The miseducation of mindfulness. This is not going to be a popular conclusion, but Michael’s research that most mindfulness programs are successful in the short run but less successful in the long term. Additionally, what he is really pointing to is a straightforward idea. If your environment is not supportive, no amount of mindfulness is going to help you become successful. An interesting implicationIf Michael’s research is correct, then our entire culture of rugged individualism is put into question. This idea that we determine our destiny versus things that external to us profoundly challenges many of our long-held beliefs.Differential ImpactThere is a research concept called “differential susceptibility”. The idea is that in genetics determine how susceptible we are to a variety of things like addictions, disease, stress etc… what if we thought about that a little differently and thought about “differential impact”. What this refers to is the idea that the same program can have a different impact on different people. For example, a program that focuses on adult mentors with people who have experienced sexual abuse may have an undesirable effect on participants. That same program, however, could have a desirable impact on people who have been physically or emotionally abused. It is very similar to the idea that there is no silver bullet from episode 42 with Amanda HacheWe need to stop blaming the individualMichael has found that when we blame people for the situation, they are in, often if we change the environment, it can make a significant difference. We need to stop blaming people and start looking at systems. Sarah Kaplan makes a similar point in episode 85.Bounce back, adapt or transformI learned from a mentor, Brenda Zimmerman that systems have a tendency to bounce back. Often when we speak of resilience, we talk about returning to how things were. What if we instead looked at three types of change, incremental, adaptative and transformative change. These are all very different kinds of outcome to the change. Admittedly, Michael does not talk about incremental change, yet these four categories can be beneficial in thinking about change. Michael gives an example, so instead of asking employees to meditate and do yoga, you make the work less stressful. You transform the environment to change the individual. For example, if you want to improve children’s education, you don’t focus on the children, you focus on the teachers. You resource the teachers, and they will take care of the children. The influence of a compelling story“We are not this kind of people who allow three-year-olds to die on beaches.” Many of us remember the photo of Alan Kudri. The Syrian boy whose body washed onshore in Turkey. I will never forget the image of the red shirt and blue pants. This story galvanized the world around the Syrian refugee crisis. Similarly, so to how the video of George Floyd catalyzed the world around Black Lives Matter. In research, N usually refers to the sample size, and when we can tell a story of one person and the difference we make, it can catalyze people to act. In the episode, Michael talks about the photo of Alan Kurdi influenced the Canadian elections. One party was proposing a prolonged approach to allowing Syrian refugees into Canada while another party was suggesting much larger numbers and a faster rate of immigration. When that photo was released, it tapped into the psyche of the country, “we are not this kind of people who allow three-year-olds to die on beaches.” As a result, the party that had much more favorable policies to Syrian refugees was the party that was thrust into power. To learn more about Michael work visit: https://www.michaelungar.com/

You can only reach your peak performance by doing more. At least that’s what the old approach tells us. Instead of doing more, Dr. Michael Gervais’ new model of being more not only takes you further but it gives you a greater mastery of your mind and body. In this episode, we talk to Michael about the Compete to Create system and book that he created with coach Pete Carroll — this system is responsible for the rise of the Seattle Seahawks. A key theme throughout our conversation, Michael emphasizes that his system doesn’t contain any shortcuts or best-kept secrets. Instead, he explains, you can reach your next level by honing your passion and purpose. After discussing the challenges that fear and fatigue present to living a life of passion, Michael talks about the importance of weaving people into your sense of purpose. Using the Seattle Seahawks as an example, Michael shows that valuing your relationships will help you see what’s possible both in yourself and in others. This is a vital step in becoming the best version of yourself. To illustrate the inner-strength that comes from having a strong community, Michael shares what it was like to be on the sidelines of the Seattle Seahawks’ historic Super Bowl XLIX loss. We also touch on the value of optimism and practicing vulnerability before Michael gives listeners some final advice on how you can develop a guiding philosophy for living a life of purpose and passion. In today’s expert mentoring session, Heather hosts Michael Bailey Smith, a man of many careers during his lifetime, but ultimately, a man who always goes for what he wants. Michael Bailey Smith is an actor, entrepreneur, motivator, and more than just the “bad guy” of your favorite movie. Growing up as the oldest of six kids, Michael was focused on playing college football despite his parents inability to afford to send him to college. Determined to play football, Michael pushed himself mentally and physically and served in the military for three years as a paratrooper. After the army, He then attended college at Eastern Michigan University, where his athletic talents earned him a spot as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 1985. Smith's football career was cut short by injury and he returned to Eastern Michigan University, where in 1988 he earned a bachelor of science degree in computer aided design After college, Michael found himself in San Diego with a friend who was auditioning for a role in the scary movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child. Even though Michael wasn’t there with the intention to audition, the casting director pulled him aside to offer him the chance to read for the role of Super Freddy Krueger. Michael then met Stephen Hopkins, the director of the movie, who offered him the role to play “the real scary guy” in the movie after hearing Michael’s big evil laugh. Michael says that in both the acting and the business worlds, he is a very goal-oriented person, and recommends others to set goals, too—no matter what it is: big or small. Even though he is often type-cast as “the bad guy,” Michael wants to put out some good into the world, too. As a worker and member of the business world, Michael shares his story of how he worked his way up in a test laboratory and helped build the company, as well, from the ground up while he worked there. Before ending the podcast, Michael assures listeners that he is still writing, and that he is currently working on writing and producing different screenplays ranging from the topics of sports and football to answering the big questions in life. Wrapping up the interview, Michael shares with listeners that if he isn’t doing something to make his life better or move his life forward, then he doesn’t feel as if he is truly living. Well... we didn't call it The Reckoning for anything... Get ready for Tatiana King & Benhameen to break down what has been happening in the pop culture industries over the last few weeks, as a lot of people have had to face the music. While every episode of ForAllNerds is about the realness, we had to take a long look at the industries that we know and love and examine what we need to all do to make a change. What Michael say? Take a look at yourself? But that's not all! We also welcome the creative team behind Excellence, the book that asks the question, what if Magical Negroes were a real thing? Listen as Brandon Thomas, Khary Randolph, & Emilio Lopez speak on why you should be reading Excellence, what it means to be Black creators in the comics industry, and much more on this extra special episode.
