On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, there are times when you must confront evil. Mark Levin has been fighting for the conservative movement for over 55 years. There are these podcasters with big companies and foreign money behind them who haven't contributed anything to the country.  Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes haven't done anything for the country, merely grifting for profit. Those with microphones must speak out and uphold integrity, honesty, and confront poisonous ideologies—left or right—that threaten the country, the culture and the party.  Jews and Christians are under attack from these podcasters. Carlson is part of the enemy within. Also, Zohran Mamdani is a Marxist-Islamist bigot who hates America, Jews, and moderate Muslims as he smears the NYPD and IDF/Israel.  His rhetoric sounds like Fuentes and Carlson. The NYPD is in for a horrific for years if Mamdani is elected as NYC Mayor.  Later, the United States could be on track to lose a conventional war with China primarily due to a critical shortfall in industrial capacity to rebuild after initial combat waves. America lacks the ability to rapidly produce ships or tanks, while China excels at building them in massive quantities and at high speed. For over a decade, Communist China has operated on a war footing, aggressively preparing for expansionist imperialism and colonialism. Learn more about your ad choices. Bethany Mandel, co-author of the bestselling book Stolen Youth and host of the Mom Wars podcast, joined The Guy Benson Show today to discuss the release and rehabilitation of Israeli hostages who were freed by Hamas after two harrowing years in captivity. Mandel detailed Hamas's cruel refusal to return the bodies of those who were killed and the emotional toll that has taken on the families of the victims. Mandel and Benson also examined growing tensions between Israel and Hamas, including potential ceasefire violations by Hamas, and why Israel maintains its right to self-defense despite signing onto the ceasefire. Finally, Mandel weighed in on the alarming rise of antisemitism in New York City, and the bizarre attempt by local activists to appeal to Jewish voters with an ad featuring a trans rabbi, even as figures like Zohran Mamdani continue to threaten their safety with rhetoric hostile to Jews. The turmoil around the Gaza war has transformed French Jews into “different people” than they were two years ago, pioneering rabbi Delphine Horvilleur said on the Haaretz Podcast. “I don't know any of any Jewish family in France who hasn’t had a conversation around the Shabbat table,” Horvilleur said, contemplating possible emigration and wondering what will remain of Jews in France a decade from now. In her discussion with podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Horvilleur talks about inspiring the hit HBO show "Reformed" and the books she's penned herself: "Living with Our Dead" and "How Isn't It Going? Conversations After October 7." The rabbi also addressed the hate mail and death threats she received after writing a column in a French Jewish magazine last spring that was critical of far-right members of the Israeli government who justified denying humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza as legitimate acts of war. She noted the “really harsh” threats she received were smaller in number than the amount of support. “Even today, I walk in the streets of Paris, and Jews stop me and say, ‘thank you for speaking out, because we believe exactly what you said, but we cannot say it anymore.’ Somehow the crisis and the war and the pain and the trauma created an inability to talk. "And for me, the real threat today lies in not being able to say what we think, to talk and re-engage in the Jewish conversation” in which, Horvilleur said, it is possible to be “both supportive of and critical of” Israel. In the blistering heat of New Mexico's sun-baked earth, under the protective gaze of Okuu Pin–the Turtle Mountain that majestically stands guard over Albuquerque–a strange and persistent legend has taken hold. It's a story of hidden Jews, of ancient rites disguised as Catholic rituals, and of shadowy ancestors who supposedly hid their true faith during the Inquisition. This is the tale of New Mexico's crypto-Jews—a myth so tangled in folklore, mistaken identities, and selective memory that it could only have been born in the fevered heart of the American Southwest. The modern crypto-Jew craze began, as many myths do, with an eager academic and an over-reliance on confirmation bias. In the 1980s, historian Stanley Hordes launched a search for what he believed to be the long-lost Jewish roots of New Mexico's Spanish-speaking residents—descendants, he claimed, of an elusive and mysterious population that had secretly kept the flames of Judaism alive for centuries, hidden beneath the Catholic veneer imposed by the Spanish Empire.  But when we scratch the surface and look closer at what Hordes—and his followers—were really chasing, the myth becomes apparent. A myth so potent it gave rise to an entire identity-bending industry steeped in false history.PLUS: Chapter Two of the JUAN DIEGO CODE!listener comments? Feedback? Shoot us a text! This emphasizes Jewish unity, because although asking rain is a vital necessity, whereas the concern of “the last of the Jews” being impeded by rain is merely a matter of convenience, nevertheless, all the Jews in Eretz Yisroel unite in delaying their request for rain by fifteen days, so that the last of the Jews could reach his home with ease. It sounds like a shitty PG-13 summer blockbuster starring The Rock, but it's the consensus worldview of serious professional pundits and analysts who share this perspective on mainstream platforms with serious expressions on their faces, and anyone who calls any part of it into question is dismissed as an extremist or a deranged crackpot. Daily Emunah Podcast - Daily Emunah By Rabbi David Ashear

The pasuk says that Hashem smelled the pleasing aroma of Noach's korban and then declared that He would never again destroy the world as He had done with the Mabul. The Midrash explains that Hashem not only smelled the aroma of Noach's korban, but also the aroma of the fiery furnace into which Avraham Avinu was willing to be thrown. He smelled the aroma of the furnace that Hananyah, Mishael, and Azaryah were cast into, and He smelled the aroma of all of His precious children throughout history who were willing to sacrifice their very lives for Him. We are commanded to love Hashem with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our money. That means being willing to give up even the most precious things to us in order to show our love for Him. Every form of sacrifice is precious to Hashem. Sometimes it means enduring embarrassment. Sometimes it means giving up comforts. Sometimes it means changing our plans. Whatever it may be, Hashem cherishes every effort we make for His sake. Sometimes Hashem even makes it clear just how much He treasures those sacrifices. A Rosh Yeshivah from B'nei B'rak told me a remarkable story. When Rav Chaim Kanievsky, zatzal, was niftar, he was asked to travel to France to deliver a hesped in a shul where his father had once been the rabbi. The Rosh Yeshivah agreed — but on one condition: he never missed his daily shiur at 12:30 in the yeshivah under any circumstance. If the organizers could arrange the trip in such a way that he would not miss his shiur, he would go. They arranged a flight on Thursday afternoon, allowing him to give the hesped Thursday night and return Friday morning — since there was no shiur on Fridays, it would work. But then, another shul in France, a six-hour train ride away, called with the same request. It was a shul where his father-in-law had once been the rabbi. They asked if he could stay for Shabbat, deliver the hesped motza'ei Shabbat, and fly back Sunday morning on a 7:00 a.m. flight. He made the calculation and realized that flight would not land in Israel until around 12:30 — too late for his shiur. So he politely declined. He flew to France that Thursday without even bringing luggage, expecting to return the next morning. But then the second shul called again. This time they had worked out a plan: if he would speak motza'ei Shabbat, then drive six hours overnight to Switzerland, he could catch a 6:00 a.m. flight that would land in Israel around 11:00 a.m., giving him time to reach the yeshivah by 12:30. This would mean spending Shabbat there with no belongings, traveling six hours by train, then another six hours by car through the night — to save one hour in flight time, just so he would not miss giving one shiur. He asked his wife for permission, and she gave her blessing. Heroically, the Rosh Yeshivah delivered both hespeidim with great inspiration. When he arrived for the early flight, it was delayed by half an hour. They landed in Israel at 11:30, and by the time he reached passport control it was 11:50. He was in the foreign passport line with about 50 people ahead of him. After all his sacrifice, it seemed that he would miss the shiur after all. But then, as if an angel was sent from Shamayim, an officer approached him, asked for his passport, stamped it immediately, and told him to pass through without waiting. Such a thing had never happened to him before. Next came the mandatory COVID test. The lines were long and crowded — except for one line that was practically empty. He quickly got his test and continued on his way, arriving at his shiur at exactly 12:30. When a Jew is willing to sacrifice for Hashem, Hashem shows him just how much that sacrifice is cherished. Avraham Avinu never knew how much he was accomplishing by walking into the furnace or by being ready to sacrifice Yitzchak. Hananyah, Mishael, and Azaryah never knew how much their loyalty would inspire generations. And every one of us, in our own way, when we give up something for Hashem, is adding to that eternal "pleasing aroma" that rises to Shamayim. The more we are willing to sacrifice to do Hashem's will, the more love we show Him — and the more Hashem shows His love for us.

This Mussar Mondays episode explores the Gate of Miserliness in Orchos Tzaddikim, contrasting it with generosity. Recorded post-Sukkot, it emphasizes self-improvement through Mussar, focusing on overcoming the “narrow eye” (Tzar Ayin) to adopt a “good eye” (Ayin Tovah). Key themes include:Miserliness Defined: A disgraceful trait of withholding despite abundance, driven by lack of trust in Hashem, leading to insincere hospitality and social isolation (Proverbs 23:6–7) (1:13–4:37).Beyond Money: Miserliness includes withholding time, effort, or wisdom, harming relationships and Torah connection, akin to Sodom's distorted logic (4:37–17:49).Balanced Approach: Yaakov's example shows prudent care for Hashem's gifts (e.g., retrieving jars) but generosity in mitzvot (e.g., giving wealth for Machpelah). Spend wisely on Torah, not vanities (17:49–26:48).Yossala's Lesson: True generosity, as shown by Yossala the Holy Miser, is selfless giving without seeking recognition, contrasting the miser's empty gestures (8:51–13:35).Sharing Mitzvot: Wisdom and mitzvot multiply when shared, increasing blessing, unlike miserly withholding, which curses (Proverbs 11:26) (17:49–36:19).Parenting with a Good Eye: Praising children's greatness shapes positive behavior, while a miserly outlook limits their potential. Trust fosters self-correction, building character long-term (36:19–49:34).The episode concludes with a call to adopt a generous outlook, reflecting Hashem's abundance, and a preview of the next topic, the Gate of Remembrance.Recorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on March 17, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on October 27, 2025_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! Share your questions at aw@torchweb.org or visit torchweb.org for more Torah content.  _____________About the Host:Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe, Director of TORCH in Houston, brings decades of Torah scholarship to guide listeners in applying Jewish wisdom to daily life.  To directly send your questions, comments, and feedback, please email: awolbe@torchweb.org_____________Support Our Mission:Our Mission is Connecting Jews & Judaism. Abraham Hamra knows the historic plight of the Jewish diaspora better than most. At six years old he was separated from much of his family, unsure if he'd ever see his grandparents again.  He was among the last Jews left in Syria, and just a year after announcing Jews could leave Syria for the US, the Assad regime reversed course, and said the remaining Jews were stuck. Abraham and his family were trapped. Eventually, the policy was reversed and Abraham was able to reconnect with his family in the US, and eventually with the rest of his extended family living in Israel. Now, alongside a successful career as a lawyer, Abraham advocates for Israel on social media and on the streets of New York. He speaks widely about not letting Jews get bullied anymore, and he lives what he preaches. It's time to hear some motivation from one of the strongest — and loudest — Jewish voices in America. Abraham and Jay talk about how, in America, Abraham has grasped and now wields Jewish strength, how he teaches other Jews to do the same. Abraham shares about the support he has received from his professional colleagues, and the shocking lawsuit he has had to file to protect his reputation. What is the symbolic meaning of the seven-sealed scroll in the book of Revelation? Dr. Kurschner first described three common interpretations. Then he explicated his new view, which is the most plausible, called a certificate of debenture (i.e. debt). The nature of the first four seals, fifth seal, and the sixth seal support this interpretation, which also gives additional support for the prewrath position in the book of Revelation. The seals on the scroll are not God's wrath. Rather, the seals symbolize the accumulating debt of judgment that the wicked deserve and eventually will have to pay up when the scroll is opened, unleashing the trumpet and bowl judgments of the day of the Lord's wrath.   CLICK HERE FOR NEW FACEBOOK PAGE CLICK HERE FOR NEW INSTAGRAM PAGE CLICK HERE FOR OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL   Links mentioned in the program: https://www.alankurschner.com/partner/     KEWORDS: End times, Eschatology, Jesus, Great Tribulation, Rapture, Second Coming, Book of Revelation, Bible prophecy, Christian eschatology, second coming of Christ, Antichrist, Book of Daniel, Olivet Discourse, Paul's Thessalonians, pre-wrath, the Apocalypse, Apocalypticism, parousia, apostasy, the church, Israel, replacement theology, prewrath rapture, pretribulationism, dispensationalism, premillennialism, amillennialism, postmillennialism, Preterism, futurism, God's wrath, trumpets, bowls, seals, angels, Armageddon, new Jerusalem, birth pangs, abomination of desolation, Babylon, Amir Tsarfati, temple, Jews, tribulation period, 70th week of Daniel, seventieth, sixth seal, seventh seal

This sermon explores Jesus' fifth "I am" statement from John 11:25, "I am the resurrection and the life," alongside the miracle of Lazarus' resurrection. The pastor explains how significant it was that Lazarus had been dead four days—past when Jews believed resurrection was possible—making this miracle undeniably divine. The message reveals two profound truths: Jesus is the giver of life (physical, spiritual, and abundant) and the destroyer of death (the last enemy, a real enemy, but a defeated one). Just as Jesus called Lazarus from the tomb but had the community remove his grave clothes, Jesus gives us new spiritual life while using fellow believers to help us walk in freedom. The pastor emphasizes that while we're all born physically alive but spiritually dead, Jesus offers resurrection now, not just in eternity, calling us to surrender to Him and experience true life in community with other believers.

In this episode, I sit down with Rabbi Pill to explore the power of Mar Cheshvan and discover that it's not a spiritual lull at all, but the time when we're meant to integrate the inspiration of Tishrei into everyday life. We discuss how Jewish time moves in an upward spiral, and how Cheshvan shifts us from “gadlus ha'mochin” (expanded consciousness) to “katnus ha'mochin” (constricted consciousness), when serving Hashem without emotional highs becomes the real avodah. Drawing from Torah, Kabbalistic, and Chassidic sources, we reflect on how our service counts most when the excitement fades, and how the letter Nun—representing both falling and divine support—reminds us that every descent can become the beginning of an ascent. We also connect Cheshvan to the Flood and the dedication of the First Temple, showing how this same month can hold both darkness and revelation. On a practical level, we talk about yearning honestly for renewed connection, resisting the urge to escape discomfort, and carrying even one small piece of Tishrei forward—whether a mindful bracha or a focused moment in tefillah. The message is that Cheshvan invites us to bring Hashem into our work, family, and daily routine, turning quiet consistency into true transformation.Join the Conversation! Be part of our growing community—join the Shema Podcast for the Perplexed WhatsApp group to share feedback, discuss episodes, and suggest future topics. This is what we need to be doing every time we take in teaching, testing it for ourselves to be sure it aligns with Scripture.

"On a scale of one to 10, how afraid are you?" That's a conversation starter for the new youth discussion forum Ha'ikar, founded by two Toronto friends, which has served as a support group for Canadian Jews under 40 who have been affected by Oct. 7. A few months after Oct. 7, the group started meeting monthly at Temple Har Zion in Thornhill, Ont., where co-founders Jacob Weiss and Jay Ginsherman had bonded as kids. They admit that they themselves never would have come to Jewish programs like Ha'ikar, but with the explosion of antisemitism in Canada over the past two years, the pair wanted to create a space for young people to unburden their fears and look for community. Since its inception, Ha'ikar has held meet-ups in two other synagogues, and spawned an adjacent group for older Jewish adults called Ha'ikar Zahav. The founders try to keep politics out of their conversations, instead allowing attendees to disagree respectfully. Attendees share anecdotes and confessions, like how their "Judaism was not taken seriously as a real culture in my private school." On today's episode of The CJN's North Star podcast, producer Andrea Varsany goes behind the scenes at a recent Ha'ikar meet-up to hear some of the powerful, personal stories told therein. Acts 19:21-41 21 Now after these events Paul resolved in the Spirit to pass through Macedonia and Achaia and go to Jerusalem, saying, “After I have been there, I must also see Rome.” 22 And having sent into Macedonia two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. 23 About that time there arose no little disturbance concerning the Way. 24 For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen. 25 These he gathered together, with the workmen in similar trades, and said, “Men, you know that from this business we have our wealth. 26 And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great many people, saying that gods made with hands are not gods. 27 And there is danger not only that this trade of ours may come into disrepute but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be counted as nothing, and that she may even be deposed from her magnificence, she whom all Asia and the world worship.” 28 When they heard this they were enraged and were crying out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 29 So the city was filled with the confusion, and they rushed together into the theater, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians who were Paul's companions in travel. 30 But when Paul wished to go in among the crowd, the disciples would not let him. 31 And even some of the Asiarchs, who were friends of his, sent to him and were urging him not to venture into the theater. 32 Now some cried out one thing, some another, for the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together. 33 Some of the crowd prompted Alexander, whom the Jews had put forward. And Alexander, motioning with his hand, wanted to make a defense to the crowd. 34 But when they recognized that he was a Jew, for about two hours they all cried out with one voice, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 35 And when the town clerk had quieted the crowd, he said, “Men of Ephesus, who is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great Artemis, and of the sacred stone that fell from the sky? 36 Seeing then that these things cannot be denied, you ought to be quiet and do nothing rash. 37 For you have brought these men here who are neither sacrilegious nor blasphemers of our goddess. 38 If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen with him have a complaint against anyone, the courts are open, and there are proconsuls. Let them bring charges against one another. 39 But if you seek anything further, it shall be settled in the regular assembly. 40 For we really are in danger of being charged with rioting today, since there is no cause that we can give to justify this commotion.” 41 And when he had said these things, he dismissed the assembly.   Key Words: Resolve, Disturbance, Way, Wealth, Turn, Gods, Confusion, Riot Keystone Verse: And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has persuaded and turned away a great many people, saying that gods made with hands are not gods. What do we mean when we talk about antisemitism? A thoughtful, vital new intervention from the award-winning historian. For most of history, antisemitism has been understood as a menace from Europe's political Right, the province of blood-and-soil ethno-nativists who built on Christendom's long-standing suspicion of its Jewish population and infused it with racist pseudo-science. Such threats culminated in the nightmare of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. The landscape is very different now, as Mark Mazower argues in On Antisemitism: A Word in History (Penguin Press, 2025). More than four-fifths of the world's Jews now live in Israel and the United States, with the former's military dominance of its region guaranteed by the latter while the loudest voices decrying antisemitism see it coming from the Left not the Right. Mazower clearly and carefully shows us how we got here, seeking to illuminate rather than blame. Very few words have the punch of ‘antisemitism' and yet no term is more liable to be misunderstood in ways affecting free speech and foreign policy alike. Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things. 2 We know that the judgment of God rightly falls on those who practice such things. 3 Do you suppose, O man—you who judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself—that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? 5 But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.6 He will render to each one according to his works: 7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; 8 but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.12 For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. 14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them 16 on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus.1.     What do you find yourself condemning other people for? Do you ever do that, or something similar?2.     When you find yourself doing or saying something you condemn in other people, how do you respond?3.     Do you agree with Paul that everyone has a basic morality written on their hearts? What does that mean for the average person, Christian or Non-Christian?4.     What are you go-to excuses for yourself, why the rules don't fully apply to you in a particular situation?5.     In what situations or to which people do you have trouble apologizing?6.     Does Jesus becoming weak and vulnerable for you make it easier to repent to him and others? 7.     Do you ever find yourself thinking or acting like God grades on a curve? Why is it important that God is impartial?

Have you ever been talking with someone and then, with a chill, realized you'd tuned out and had no idea what the person was talking about? Not listening can be frustrating in a conversation; it can be devastating spiritually, when God is trying to communicate and people don't seem to listen. That is going to be the dominant theme of the text we'll be examining this Sunday as we continue our way through the Gospel of Matthew, reading chapter 13:1-23.This is the beginning of what has come to be called the “parables discourse”, where Jesus tells 8 parables in a row. It is very significant that Jesus taught through the use of stories that represented a larger truth. What do you think is significant about his use of parables? When his disciples ask him why he's teaching people through these unexplained riddles, Jesus gives an answer that is as cryptic as the parables themselves, and somewhat disturbing. He indicates that the parables are a means of hiding the arrival of God's kingdom from certain types of people. Who is it that Jesus seems to have in mind in this warning? Why do you think they are unable to hear what it is Jesus is saying, or see what it is that is happening? What lesson can we take from this as the 21st Century American church?Jesus provides an explanation of the parable in this section, and tells us plainly that the seeds represent the news of God's kingdom arriving through Jesus while the soils represent the hearts and lives of people. Some hear and embrace the possibilities of God's rule over life and it produces varying amounts of fruit. Some hear and are interested, but lose interest as everyday life crowds out the importance of what God is doing in their hearts. Others hear and are stoked, but its shallow emotionalism so that when things get difficult or demanding, they bail out. Worst of all, there are those who are like hard-packed dirt on a well-trodden path – who won't allow the news of God's rule get anywhere near their hearts because it doesn't fit with what they've already assumed about life.Think about this: Jesus was talking about people who were pretty religious already. He's not necessarily talking about the pagan Romans, but most likely the pious Jews. How do we evaluate what this story means to us in our journey of faith? Do you think its possible to have all of these types of soil represented in one life? How can we hear with an intent to embrace what God says in his gospel? What can make us more receptive to His word? This will be a challenging study – hope you can join us this Sunday!Click here for a pdf of the teaching slideshow.

Acts 19:23-41 About that time there arose no little disturbance concerning the Way. 24 For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Artemis, brought no little business to the craftsmen. 25 These he gathered together, with the workmen in similar trades, and said, “Men, you know that from this business we have our wealth. 26 And you see and hear that not only in Ephesus but in almost all of Asia this Paul has per-suaded and turned away a great many people, saying that gods made with hands are not gods. 27 And there is danger not only that this trade of ours may come into disre-pute but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis may be counted as nothing, and that she may even be deposed from her magnificence, she whom all Asia and the world worship.” 28 When they heard this they were enraged and were crying out, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!” 29 So the city was filled with the confusion, and they rushed together into the theater, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Macedonians who were Paul's companions in travel.

On Antisemitism is a vitally important attempt to draw a line that must be drawn. Mark Mazower is the Ira D. Wallach Professor of History at Columbia University. Questions - Week 3: Did Jesus Really Exist?

Did Jesus exist?  Is Jesus a myth?  Is there any evidence that Jesus actually lived?  Is there any evidence outside the Bible?  The answer is absolutely, there's a great deal of evidence. Many are unaware of some of the very profound and powerful evidences for the existences of Jesus.  Today we will take a look at the evidence for Jesus' existence, coming at it from three different vantage points: Ancient Hostile Witnesses: (Pastor goes into detail regarding each of the following hostile testifiers to Jesus and His followers)     •    Tacitus - Annals XV, 44 (ca 55-120A.D)      •    Suetonius - Claudius, 25 and Nero, 18 (ca 117-138 A.D.)     •    Pliny the Younger - Letter to Roman Emperor Trajan (ca 112 A.D.)     •    Sanhedrin 43a (part of the Talmud)     •    Josephus - “Testimonium Flavianum”  Antiquities, 18:3 (ca 37-97 A.D.) Earliest Witnesses     •    Doctor Luke and John Mark     •    Jesus' best friend, John     •    Saul of Tarsus (Apostle Paul) Accepted historical Facts: Acknowledged by Scholars, Liberals, Conservatives, Christians, Jews and Agnostics:     •    Jesus died by Roman Crucifixion     •    His tomb was discovered to be empty     •    His disciples said they saw the risen Jesus     •    His disciples lives were radically changed     •    Resurrection proclaimed early in Jerusalem     •    James and Paul became believers Pastor concludes the teaching time telling us that God changed his heart and the direction of his career. Then Pastor changes the question to "Does Jesus really exist?" and continues with the following: “If Jesus is alive, if He has risen from the grave, that changes everything. It means that God has broken into our world. It means that there is life and forgiveness in Him, and that apart from Him, you have nothing. Today's question is not simply a question about the historical past, this is a question about eternal destiny!” Jesus is alive! And we pray that He will be, if He's not already, the Lord of your life! Now What? Learn about God at https://www.awakeusnow.com EVERYTHING we offer is FREE. What if your dreams aren't as dead as you think? Through powerful stories of Jesus raising both a young girl and Lazarus from death, Pastor reveals how our buried hopes, dreams, and purpose can be resurrected. Drawing from real-world examples and raw emotion, he challenges us to stop attending the funeral of our own potential and start believing God for resurrection power in every area of life. Whether you're wrestling with buried dreams or feeling spiritually stuck, this message offers practical hope for seeing dead things come back to life. Don't miss this transformative teaching on moving from grief to glory!Mark 5:35-42 35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue's house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw [a]a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”40 And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.John 11:38-44 38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone [a]from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”

September 10, 2025 - Wednesday PM Bible Class   This episode is a teaching-led exploration of Ephesians chapter 1, recorded as part of a quarter-long study of the prison epistles (Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Philemon). The instructor sets the stage by explaining Paul's situation—writing under house arrest in Rome around AD 60–62—and outlines the original recipients (the church at Ephesus), their history, and the challenges they faced in a city known for idolatry and the Temple of Diana. Topics covered include the historical and literary context of Ephesians, Paul's relationship with the Ephesian church (including his farewell meeting with the elders in Miletus from Acts 20), and later references to Ephesus in Revelation which warn that the congregation lost its “first love” despite remaining doctrinally strong. The lesson distinguishes the book's structure—chapters 1–3 as doctrinal and chapters 4–6 as practical application—and emphasizes recurring themes such as the church, the phrase “in Christ,” and the spiritual blessings available to believers. The core of the episode is a verse-by-verse walk through 1:3–14 (noted as a single long sentence in the Greek) that catalogs Paul's catalog of spiritual blessings: election before the foundation of the world, predestination to adoption, grace and redemption through Christ's blood, forgiveness of sins, inheritance, and the sealing by the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance. The instructor explains key theological terms (predestined, adoption, redemption, seal) and how they fit into Paul's larger purpose of uniting Jews and Gentiles into one body—the church. Practical applications are drawn throughout: the need for elders to guard the flock against false teaching, the centrality of evangelism (and the danger of losing zeal even when doctrine remains sound), the inseparability of Christ and his church, and how remembrance of spiritual blessings brings joy and endurance amid persecution and hardship. The resurrection, Christ's exaltation, and the hope of future inheritance are presented as sustaining truths. The episode is presented by the course instructor and is designed to be discussion-friendly—referencing a set of tough questions raised by an attendee to encourage listener engagement and reflection on how Ephesians' doctrines translate into daily Christian living.   Duration 46:59

Sunday, 26 October 2025   and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 13:50   “And they will cast them into the furnace of the fire. There, it will be the lamentation and the gnash of the teeth” (CG).   In the previous verse, Jesus, still explaining the parable of the seine, noted that at the end of the age messengers would come forth and separate the evil from the righteous. He now completes the parable, beginning with, “And they will cast them into the furnace of the fire.”   It was noted in the parable of the darnel that it could not be referring to the church age. This parable is the same. There is nothing recorded in Scripture that says there will be a separation of the good and the bad at the end of the church age as described in this parable.   Rather, there will be a separation of the saints from the unbelieving world. They will be taken in the twinkling of an eye. After that, the tribulation will come upon the world. It is only after the tribulation that those who survive that ordeal will be separated.   This will be done to ensure the millennium begins on a better note, being populated with those who are acceptable. Once the bad have been separated out and chucked into the fiery furnace, Jesus finishes with, “There, it will be the lamentation and the gnash of the teeth.”   As before, the words speak of great sadness and agony. Pursuit of the temporary pleasures of this life while neglecting the things of God will be rewarded with what the people deserve. There is nothing arbitrary, unfair, or capricious about this. Man will receive his just due for the things done while in the body.   God has offered a better hope to the people of the world in the giving of His Son. What we do with Jesus will be an eternity-defining decision.   Life application: By placing the conclusion of the parable of the darnel next to the conclusion of this parable, one can see how the two parallel –   “Therefore, just as it is gathered, the darnel, and fire – it consumed, thus it will be in the age's consummation. 41 The Son of Man, He will send His messengers and they will gather from His kingdom all the snares and those doing lawlessness. 42 And they will cast them into the furnace of the fire. There it will be the lamentation and the gnash of the teeth.”   “...they gathered the good into vessels, and the bad they cast out. 49 Thus it will be in the age's consummation. The messengers, they will go out and they will separate the evil from the righteous' midst. 50 And they will cast them into the furnace of the fire. There it will be the lamentation and the gnash of the teeth.”   The parables repeat the same essential information. One may ask, “Why would the Lord bother doing this? Wasn't one parable sufficient?” The reason is because He is making a point that we should accept as certain and sure to come to pass.   There isn't one gospel book, but four. And three of them more closely parallel in their presentation while providing new or different aspects of the information presented in the others. This is true with the Old Testament books of Kings and Chronicles to some extent.   In the case of these two parables, Jesus ensures us that what He says about the end times is not to be taken only as a spiritual teaching, but one that is just how things will be at the end of the age. The separation of the wheat from the darnel and the good fish from the bad does not only apply to Jews who enter the tribulation, but the whole world.   For Israel as a nation, though, the point of the tribulation is to bring them as a nation to realize that they missed the coming of their Messiah the first time. It is to bring restoration to the nation in order to fulfill the promises made to them in the Old Testament.   But the whole world of people, Jew and Gentile, must be separated. Those who are deemed worthy will enter the millennium. Those who are not will be cast into the furnace of fire. This is just how it is going to be. The repetition of the same general information in these parables ensures us that it is so.   Lord God, may we carefully evaluate Your word, holding fast to its truths and thoughtfully consider when You are giving us literal information that is to be accepted as such. May we not spiritualize those things that are intended to be taken literally. Help us to more rightly understand and process this wonderful word so that our thinking is mature and proper. Amen.

You get up, you get breakfast ready, and your kids come in complaining, complaining, complaining. All of a sudden, someone spilled their milk, and the phone is buzzing, and before you realize it, you are mentally listing everything that's wrong.I'm going to share a way to flip the switch in your head and get back into a place of peace, a place of gratitude. Today, we are talking about changing complaining to thankfulness, to gratitude. I'm going to be giving you several gratitude examples along the way.Abraham Lincoln's Example During America's Darkest HourLet's start with Abraham Lincoln. Back in 1863, the war between the states was tearing America apart. Families were divided, thousands were dying, no one knew what the future held. And President Lincoln declared a National Day of Thanksgiving. He knew that the attitude of thanksgiving could actually change our country. He wrote, "Year filled with blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies, gracious gifts of Most High God." He was looking to God to say, even though everything around us is falling apart, we are gonna look up, and we are going to say thank you to God.So when everything in your life feels chaotic, you can still choose to focus on God's goodness. The Kitchen Table That Changed EverythingSeveral years ago, I was having a mental-emotional breakdown. In our house, I was walking back and forth, just reeling out in my head all the things I wanted to tell all the people that were giving me a hard time. And all of a sudden, I was like, stop, Kerry. Just stop. I went to the kitchen table, I just grabbed a piece of regular notebook paper, and I started writing down anything I could think of to be thankful for. It could have been a blue sky outside, a hot cup of coffee, I don't know. But I went and just wrote everything down.Got all the way down the list, and even got to the top, and started a second column. Almost to the bottom, I quit thinking about the things that God had given me, things to be thankful for, and I started to write down things about God. I started to praise Him for who He was in my life.By the time I finished that list, peace came over me. There was joy in my heart, because I knew that God was taking care of me, and it really didn't matter about all the craziness.Recognizing the Enemy's AttackMaybe your marriage is falling apart. Maybe you're rejected by your friends, or your mother-in-law's giving you a hard time. Maybe you're just totally overwhelmed, because you got 5 kids under the age of 7, and you're trying to homeschool a few of them. That is the enemy attacking you, and you can change that overwhelmed, rejected attitude to something positive. You need to realize that the negative voice and all those bad things is not yours. It is the enemy attack. He is trying to get you to think about you, your circumstances, instead of God and trusting in a faithful God.It only took me about 5 minutes, my perspective changed, and my heart and soul changed as well. My self-pity changed to praising God for His faithfulness, His character, and His provision that's always there. The Science Behind GratitudeI've been keeping a gratitude journal since about 2010 or 2011. This is actually my second gratitude journal. I actually hit 10,000 items earlier this year, and I know that keeping that journal changes the way I think. It's not just God saying this, which is all that really matters, but there is scientific evidence that gratitude and thankfulness changes the way we think. Research shows that gratitude increases our joy and our contentment. It decreases our anxiety and our depression. It even helps you sleep better and gives you a stronger immune system. If you are stressed out, I highly recommend that every day, you start a gratitude journal.Corrie ten Boom's Gratitude Example: Even for FleasLet's talk about Corrie ten Boom in the middle of World War II. Her family housed Jews up in the attic, and eventually they got caught. Corrie and her sister Betsy were sent to Ravensbrook, one of the worst concentration camps in World War II.The barracks were overcrowded, they were cold, and there were fleas everywhere. Her sister insisted, we have got to thank God for everything, even the fleas. Well, Corrie thought she had lost her mind. Seriously? You want me to say thank you for fleas?Let me tell you, those fleas were a blessing from God. They discovered that those fleas kept the guards away and gave Corrie and Betsy time to share Jesus, to share things about the Bible, to have prayer meetings in their little barracks, without any interruption. Those guards didn't want you talking about God, but they were staying far away from the fleas.Betsy knew something: We can thank God for even the hard times.Finding Blessings in Your Hardest CircumstancesIt's hard to say thank you that someone rejected me, or thank you that I have a child that's not walking with God. You're not thanking Him for that, but we can say, God, thank you for your faithfulness in the midst of this situation. The things that we complain about the most are sometimes blessings in disguise. God uses anything for our good. Over 9 years ago, my husband left, and I would never wish this on anyone. It has been the hardest thing I have ever walked through in my life. But I remember about 2 years ago, I was sitting with my dad, and I said, Dad, I would never wish this on anyone, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am closer to God than I have ever been. That rejection, that hard time, the suffering, the trials that I continue to walk through—when you change your attitude to gratitude, it can sometimes become a blessing, and it is a true blessing.Raising Grateful KidsWhat about my kids? My kids were complaining, everything's falling apart. If you can raise grateful kids, then they will be more satisfied with their life, they will have happier emotions, and they will actually have better mental health. The key is you, Mom. When you are more grateful, your children will express more gratitude. Steve and I said thank you to our kids all the time, and we told our kids to say thank you when they're young. Now, as they grew up, they just naturally said it.I've had parents say, Hunter or Gentry or Ashley, they're the only ones that said thank you for the meal when they came over. That was because we modeled it, and it became a part of who they are in their mind and in their heart. It's not just changing their attitude for today, it's modeling a life skill for children for the rest of their lives. How Gratitude Activates the BrainWhen you are thankful for things, you activate dopamine. Dopamine is that happiness neurotransmitter. As we are grateful, it will happen to us, and as we model it for our kids, it will happen to the kids.Let's face it, it is biblical as well. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, "In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God." It is not an option. God's will is for you and me to give thanks.Teaching gratitude to our kids moves them from being entitled to a heart focused on Jesus.George Washington Carver's Daily PracticeGeorge Washington Carver grew up born into slavery in 1864. He was orphaned as an infant, he had a chronic illness, he was denied an education, and yet he grew up to be a celebrated scientist and inventor. He had a daily practice. He would walk in the woods at dawn, and he would look for little bitty things in the woods to say thank you to God. He said, "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks."When I go for a walk and I hear the birds sing, I'm like, oh, thank you, God. When I walk outside and see a beautiful sunset or sunrise, thank you, God. When I see green leaves on the tree, thank you, God.Do you make it a practice to say thank you all day long? Gratitude in the simple things leads to extraordinary discoveries.Gratitude Is a ChoiceListen, if you're multitasking, come back to me. Gratitude does not require perfect circumstances. It's a choice that opens our eyes to the possibilities of what is out there.Practical Ways to Practice Gratitude DailyI suggest daily thank God for at least one thing in your life, or your family, or your kids. Your family and kids should start to participate. Model your attitude of gratitude, and let them see that you keep a gratitude journal. Rest in God—He is always in control, no matter what your circumstances are.Find something that you already do every day. Like, we ate meals together. So maybe you keep all the gratitude challenges at the meal table, and after breakfast, lunch, or dinner, everyone writes one thing down that they are thankful for.Maybe it's during your morning time, basket time, whatever that family time is. It only takes—it didn't even take 5 minutes sometimes. Each person can share what they're thankful for, and you can write that down. With preschoolers, you can use prompts, and they can just tell it to you, you can write it down. Maybe if they're able to draw a picture, they just keep a little notebook of everything that they're thankful for. As they get older, they can actually write words. With older kids, I would encourage them to write at least 3 things daily. That changes the neurons in your head and the way you think, because you are changing from negative, complaining thinking to positive, thankful thinking.Anchor Your Practice in ScriptureChoose one Bible verse about thanksgiving and practice it all of November. You could use 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God." Simple.Practice it at the dinner table every single night. Say it together, let them take turns saying it, whatever the verse is. This will anchor your gratitude practice, your gratitude actions in God's Word.It also teaches our kids to focus on Jesus and what He's doing, not just positive thinking. This isn't all about positive thinking. This is about following God, because we know that Jesus and the Holy Spirit is what can change what's inside.Start Today, Not When Crisis HitsDon't wait for crisis, like I did that time, to start practicing gratitude. On Antisemitism is a vitally important attempt to draw a line that must be drawn. Mark Mazower is the Ira D. Wallach Professor of History at Columbia University. Roland Clark is a Reader in Modern European History at the University of Liverpool. Learn more about your ad choices. On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, there was a major FBI bust of an illegal sports betting scheme involving four NBA teams (Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors) and four mafia families (Bonanno, Gambino, Genovese, Lucchese), netting over $7 million. The NBA Has a problem, people need to have faith in the game. This is a massive blackeye for the NBA. Also, those who say that Israel will never annex the West Bank (Judea and Samaria), have no idea what's taking place in the West Bank. Israel will do whatever it chooses to do. The recent Knesset vote on annexation was initiated by the left to divide conservatives and the administration. If Judea and Samaria don't belong to the Jews, who does it belong to? Shiloh's history proves Judea and Samaria as ancestral Jewish homeland is crucial to Judaism and Christianity. Later, Zohran Mamdani got his butt kicked at the NYC debate. He's a sloganeer, which is typical of Marxists, but he won't be substantive at all. Afterward, Obamacare is a lie focused on centralization and control rather than affordability, leading to loss of civil liberties, restricted benefits, and second-rate care where patients can't access desired doctors, hospitals, or medicines. It's just like socialist systems in Canada and Britain, from which people flee to the US for better care, yet Democrats aim to mimic them. Democrats caused the government shutdown to maintain and expand Obamacare subsidies and reinstate benefits for illegal aliens, refusing reforms and relying on media to blame Republicans, ultimately destroying Medicare, Medicaid, and employee insurance by inflating healthcare costs. Finally, a Daily Mail article predicts Christianity's decline as America's majority religion amid Islam's rise. U.S. was founded on tolerant Judeo-Christian values fused with Enlightenment, rejected by Marxists and Islamists. This ideological clash threatens free society's survival.
