Batman Through the Ages: Celebrating Forever and the Dawn of Begins! This episode is a double dose of Dark Knight action! We're commemorating the 30th anniversary of Joel Schumacher's divisive "Batman Forever,” starring Val Kilmer as the caped crusader alongside Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face and Jim Carrey's The Riddler, alongside Nicole Kidman and Chris O'Donnell's Robin. We'll debate its campy charm, unforgettable performances and its rightful place in pop culture as we also leap forward to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Christopher Nolan's groundbreaking “Batman Begins.” Relive the gritty realism that redefined the genre, with Christian Bale's iconic portrayal, Michael Caine's wise Alfred, and Liam Neeson's chilling Ra's al Ghul, alongside a stacked cast that also includes Cillian Murphy, Katie Holmes, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Tom Wilkinson, and more! From neon Gotham to a city shrouded in fear, we explore the evolution of Batman on the big screen during crucial milestones for both films.Where To Watch Batman ForeverWhere To Watch Batman Begins

This week we are beginning our random ass season of four films. The first is Ben Stiller's panned-at-the-time film, "The Cable Guy." Jim Carrey's $10 Million Lesson Cal has an epiphany as he's giving one of his storytelling workshops. He's able to tie the thought to the moment in 1985 when a down and out actor named Jim Carrey wrote a check to himself for $10 million to be cashed 10 years later when he became a film star. The $10 million did come to Carrey ten years later with the release of the hit Dumb and Dumber. Cal wonders how to visualize the most out of yourself even when you don't believe you're talented in a particular area. The answer applies to everyone and you might want to use it. Check out the episode.
Wow! 1992 was a big year for Jim, doing TV movies, garbage comedy skit films, animated voice roles, all alongside his full time gig at In Living Color. Man, he works hard for the money as the kids say. Today we're talking about a beautifully animated short cartoon where Jim Carrey plays an exterminator trying to kill a spider. This one was pure joy, be sure to listen! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We unpack the character of Truman Burbank, the psychological and thematic layers of his world, and how Peter Weir used subtle filmmaking to craft a story about surveillance, media manipulation, and existential dread. This week we're getting expended as we wrap up Bong June-ho with Bong Joon-ho's sexy sci-fi farce, MICKEY 17 from this very year of 2025!Full spoilers ahead as we discuss Bong's version of a feel-good love story, Edward Ashton's original novel MICKEY 7, the inherently boring faces of techno-religious fascism, reconciling your morality with your identity in late-stage capitalism, and how "lower" classes can become a self-exploitative population. Y'know, comedy! It's the Robert Pattinson show -- his mondo weirdo energy, falling down stairs, underwear modeling, and the DNA his performances share with Jim Carrey. Plus, we're getting into Naomi Ackie's "he said no pickles" performance, Steven Yeun's underrated comedic chops, and Mark Ruffalo's fake teeth and Toni Collette's sauces. And to wrap up the series, we're giving our top 3 Bongs. We think you'll agree that our choices are very brave.
I often quote a great Jim Carrey line that I think is a great approach for life. Jim's father always wanted to be a comedian, and would have been a great one, but he opted for the ‘safer bet' and became an accountant instead. But he was ultimately made unemployed, and Jim learned a valuable lesson from that, saying “You can fail at what you don't want. So you might as well take a chance on doing what you love”My guest on this episode, John Travers, initially opted for the safer bet of a well-paid job as an engineer with a global energy company, but before he started the role, he went to India and did some volunteer work – and that changed everything. He returned home to that job and worked in the corporate and start-up world for a number of years, but he fulfilled the promise he made to himself in India – he would dedicate his life to helping society's most frail and vulnerable people.Today, John is a qualified GP and is not only making a difference in the world, but he is happy and fulfilled by the work he is doing. He has just published a book about his time working as a doctor, the people he has met and treated, and the impact they have had on him. Its call A Shot of Hope and he'll be telling me all about his fascinating story on this episode of The Mario Rosenstock Podcast.COMEDY – How are supposed to cope with this heatwave hitting Ireland? Never forget...It's not how you start it's how you finish.
In this week's episode of Seismic Cinema, things get weird — fitting for our review of The Truman Show! Colin steps into Truman's meticulously crafted world for the very first time, Paul somehow manages to watch the movie in the wrong order (don't ask), and James may or may not have written a university-level essay on it. Expect a mix of first impressions, philosophical ramblings, and the usual Seismic chaos. We dive into the film's eerie relevance, Jim Carrey's unexpectedly powerful performance, and the big question: what would you do if you found out your life was a TV show? Tune in for laughs, debates, and some Truman-style existential dread!
Estás a punto de descubrir el lado oscuro del mundo del entretenimiento…
Pour up a 'Meet Me in Montauk' and join McCash as he relives this offbeat performance from Jim Carrey alongside Brandon and Stoney. Today, we're drinking with...Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. To make the 'Meet Me in Montauk', you'll need:3/4 oz gin3/4 oz clementine juice1/2 oz lemon juice1/2 oz simple syrup1/4 oz Yellow Chartreuse (French herbal ligueur)2 oz ChampagneGarnish with lemon peel. Fill a collins glass with ice, add ingredients into a shaker and shake, pour into the collins glass, and garnish with lemon peel.
These sequels are extremely unnecessary, but if we made 'em, people would go and see them. And in this case, some of them would have no choice, because this is one of those pitches where we create a twisted vision of real life, forgetting that we were supposed to make a movie. What happens when we try to gaslight Jim Carrey into thinking he's really Truman Burbank, and lead him to "rediscover" the film set he "escaped" from? Only chaos, really. Sleepover is pure Y2K chaos, and the No More Late Fees crew is here for all of it! This week, Danielle celebrates her birthday by dragging Jackie (a Sleepover newbie!) through the glittery madness of the 2004 teen comedy Sleepover—complete with bedazzled thongs, illegal scavenger hunts, and more plot holes than a pair of low-rise jeans. Joined by actress and nostalgia queen Gabi Whiting, the trio hilariously dissects a film that asks the age-old question: what happens when you mix underage driving, Steve Carell in a security uniform, and a quest for the “cool table”? Spoiler: absolutely unhinged fun. From bizarre casting what-ifs (Jim Carrey as a rent-a-cop?) to a deep dive into early 2000s fashion, teen movie tropes, and those oh-so-cringe adult-student dynamics, this episode is a glitter-filled fever dream you didn't know you needed. Come for the cult classic chaos, stay for the sharp commentary, retro vibes, and Danielle's unapologetic love for a movie that made exactly zero sense—and that's exactly why we love it. This week on Shat the Movies, we're beaming up Earth Girls Are Easy (1988)! Geena Davis stars alongside a furry, neon-colored trio of aliens played by Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans in this outrageously ‘80s sci-fi musical comedy. It's got big hair, wild dance numbers, and plenty of interplanetary flirting. Tune in for a fun, glitter-filled trip through one of the weirdest rom-coms of the decade! Plot SummaryIn Earth Girls Are Easy (1988), director Julien Temple crafts a neon-soaked, musical sci-fi comedy that's as weird as it is wonderful. Geena Davis stars as Valerie, a valley girl manicurist in Los Angeles whose love life hits rock bottom after discovering her fiancé is cheating. But things take a turn for the bizarre when a spaceship crash-lands in her pool, carrying three fuzzy, brightly colored aliens played by Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, and Damon Wayans. After a quick makeover at the beauty salon, the aliens transform into irresistible human heartthrobs who quickly adapt to life in late-80s California. Valerie decides to help them explore the strange customs of Earth shopping malls, nightclubs, and love. As romance blossoms between Valerie and Mac (Goldblum), the film dives into fish-out-of-water antics, musical numbers, and some genuinely charming moments of connection. What makes Earth Girls Are Easy stand out is its unapologetic embrace of the absurd. The film's pastel visuals, synth-heavy soundtrack, and campy humor perfectly capture the late-80s aesthetic. Supporting performances from Julie Brown and Michael McKean add even more flair to an already offbeat cast. It's a wild mash-up of rom-com, musical, and sci-fi that doesn't take itself seriously for a second. Join our podcast as we revisit this cult classic and ask: does this intergalactic love story still sparkle, or has it crash-landed for good? From body waxing aliens to valley girl charm, we're breaking down all the glittery madness. You may know him best as the voice of Salem The Cat or Norbert from Sabrina The Teenage Witch and Angry Beavers but Nick Bakay is also the Writer/Producer who brought you Mom, King Of Queens, Paul Blart Mall Cop and Bookie. What does it take to sustain a multi-decade entertainment industry career? Versatility. Nick takes us deep into Sabrina lore with tales of the old-school imagineering of Salem Saberhagen, brought to us via several cats, puppeteers, animatronics, trainers and cat treats. A Buffalo, NY native, Nick's facility at performing, writing, and producing allowed him to create opportunities for himself that were both entertaining and rewarding. He's heard from a generation of young women who felt empowered by Sabrina to take on adult life, even without the benefit of witchcraft. Along with his pal Keven James, Nick went from writing on King Of Queens to creating Paul Blart: Mall Cops One and Two, and Zookeeper. And it was his writing chops that forged a connection with Chuck Lorre, providing Nick with an opportunity to write for Two And A Half Men and go on to helm nine seasons of Mom, HBO's Bookie and an upcoming Netflix sitcom, Leanne. Nick is also a household name to sports fan who see his work on ESPN. He was recently inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasting Hall Of Fame and, a Quick Buffalo Indulgence Warning: Nick and Weezy do get a little carried away waxing sentimental about their shared Buffalo roots. Fritz is using one of his sick days and his seat is kept warm by Weezy's radio buddies, Tom Murphy and Scott Paton. (They did occupy separate chairs, but you get the idea.)
