McGonegal ( https://www.jtfcs.northcom.mil/About/Leadership/Bio-Article-View/Article/1199880/brigadier-general-tanya-s-mcgonegal/ ) currently serves as the Commander of Joint Task Force Civil Support, the Nation's only standing, no-notice Joint Task Force that conducts Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Response and All-Hazards Defense Support of Civil Authorities operations.Brig. Gen. McGonegal most recently served as the Division Chief for Strategy and Policy in the Joint Manpower and Personnel directorate for the National Guard Bureau. The Strategy and Policy division provides personnel accountability of National Guard Service members during Domestic Operations. The division develops and coordinates Congressional, OSD, CNGB, JS-J1 and NGB-J1 products on National Guard manpower and personnel readiness concerns.Brig. Gen. McGonegal enlisted in the Virginia Army National Guard in September 1997. Upon completion of Basic Training, she attended the Virginia State Officer Candidate school in Ft Pickett, VA. She was one of 15 to graduate out of 54 candidates and was the only female to graduate with her class in June 1999. She was branched Military Police and assigned to the 229th Military Police Company, which she later commanded from September 2004 to August 2006. While serving with the 229th Military Police Company, she deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle in 2001, Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and put on State Activation in support of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. During this time, she spent four years working as a county police officer but was deployed two years of that time. Her time as a police officer enhanced her career in the military but due to the deployments, she transitioned to serve in military full time. In April 2005, she was hired by the Army National Guard Bureau's Comptroller directorate as a Budget Officer.In 2012, Brig. Gen. McGonegal transitioned from the Virginia Army National Guard to the West Virginia Army National Guard to command the 151st Military Police Battalion. After battalion command, she served in a joint assignment with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Policy, Homeland Defense and Global Security from 2014 to 2018. From August 2019 to July 2021, she served as Brigade Commander to the 77th Brigade Troop Command in the West Virginia Army National Guard. In recognition of her strengths in relationship building, communication, multi-tasking, and organizational leadership, Brig. Gen. McGonegal was selected by senior leaders six times to serve as their Executive Officer.Brig. Gen. McGonegal earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, a Master's of Science Degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Masters from the The United States Army War College in Military Strategic Studies, American Government and Politics (United States). In this interview we geek out on helicopter flying, military careers, “delivering justice” for U.S. ground forces, active duty parenthood, and creative pursuits—and also about their inspiring picture book, Be Something Epic. Laura is a career Army Officer who went through ROTC and, by way of Korea, Germany, Human Resources Command, back to Korea as a Brigade S3 where she had her first child, and NORTHCOM, is currently in her final tour of duty as a Professor of Military Science for Auburn University's Army ROTC program with a cadre of over 180 cadets. Morgan's career followed a similar path until, through the natural progression for a commissioned officer, she wasn't flying as she wanted and decided to leave the Army. She flew scenic tours at Mount Rushmore, oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, and eventually transitioned to fixed wing with the help of the veteran non-profit organization RTAG to ultimately become a 737 pilot for a major airline. In Be Something Epic, we imagine growing up to be an astronaut, a teacher, a dentist, a first responder, or a defender of freedom, and we reflect on what character traits and behaviors we can work on now that will prepare us to be something EPIC. We're back with another one of our favorite kinds of episodes: real stories of real people doing really cool things in their small towns.    This episode features Terry Sando, a retired Air Force officer who's built a brewery in his small town of Hillsboro, ND. We love this story because Terry was inspired to build a business to serve his community…so he did! He's kept the community at the heart of everything he does, and he's such a great example of what can happen with a dream, willingness to learn, and lots of hard work.   About Terry:   I was born and raised in Valley City, ND. In the summers, I worked on my grandparents' farm south of Rogers, ND. I graduated from Valley City High School and went to college before joining the Air Force in 1979. I did 5 ½ years of enlisted time with my final assignment being a crew member on the B-52 at Grand Forks AFB. Duties included pulling nuclear alert and flying training missions.    In November of 1984, I joined the 119th, the Happy Hooligans to become an Intelligence Officer and trained at Lowery AFB in Denver. My son Travis was born during my assignment there and my wife Deb wouldn't tell me on the phone if it was a boy or girl! Happily, I was granted emergency leave and flew back to Grand Forks to see my son.    I had different assignments at the 119th and returned to active duty to gain space operations background for future Air Guard missions in 1998. During my six years in Colorado Springs, I was assigned to Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB, and Cheyenne Mountain. 9/11 happened while I was stationed at AFSPC (Air Force Space Command) and I was selected to help stand up NorthCom. I was the first Guardsman to be qualified to stand watch at Cheyenne Mountain for NORAD/NorthCom. It was my most challenging assignment, but also my best assignment during my career.    My next assignment in 2004 was at the National Guard Bureau in Washington D.C. and from there I went to the Air War College at Maxwell AFB where I got my Master of Strategic Studies. My final assignment was Plans and Requirements at 1st Air Force at Tyndall AFB.    During this assignment, I grew an appreciation for craft beer brewing. I had a coworker who was a great homebrewer, and he got me interested in learning to brew beer. I had to put it into my bucket list of things to do when I retired.    I retired in November of 2009 and came home to Grand Forks. After retirement I had jobs at the University of North Dakota as the Emergency Manager, Grand Forks Region EDC working on building the UAS ecosystem, a Norwegian company eSmart doing UAS operations for utility line inspections, and finally Mobile Recon a small UAS startup company.    I decided to get into brewing in 2019 and started construction of a brew pub in Hillsboro. This became Goose River Brewing, and the pub has been open for two years. Two beta batches of beer were done in July of this year, so we're officially brewing! Part of the goal was to have a blue-collar craft beer lovers social gathering location that would help make Hillsboro's downtown a destination. We are working on building relationships with our local malt barley growers. We also have been giving our spent grain to a local cattle grower to use in the cattle feed ration. The pandemic had a big impact on raising the cost of construction and pushing out the opening date. It's time once again to feature some of the smart conversations that occur around the country through the Eisenhower Series College Program. For over 50 years, the Eisenhower Program has reached out to colleges and town halls across the nation to introduce War College students to audiences that are often unfamiliar with members of the U.S. military. This episode features Don Mozer and Luis Peral as they examine the current efforts of the U.S. military support to the ongoing drug interdiction mission of the nation. With the benefit of Don's recent tour in NORTHCOM and Luis's decades of law enforcement and prosecutorial experience between them, they share their perspectives with podcast host Ron Granieri. Their conversation aims to understand the nature of a very real threat to national security as well as consider possible strategies to combat that threat in the present and well into the future.

Mr. Joseph Wassel is the Executive Director (CEO) of the First Responder Network Authority. He is responsible for overall management of all FirstNet Authority operations and the organization's strategic direction, to include its unique public-private arrangement to deploy and enhance the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network. Prior to joining the FirstNet Authority, Mr. Wassel served as the Executive for the Cyberspace Operations Directorate within the Defense Information Systems Agency. He is also the former Director of C4 Resilience & Mission Assurance in the Department of Defense (DoD) Chief Information Officer's office. He was also the founder and chair of DoD's Public Safety Communications Working Group, where he led the Services, Joint Staff, National Guard, NORTHCOM, and other DoD partner activities for the Department's public safety communications efforts, including Next-Generation Public Safety Wireless capabilities, Next-Generation 9-1-1 implementation, and Enterprise Mass Warning and Notification capabilities for DoD. Prior to assuming his former positions, Mr. Wassel served as the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Communications and Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. A retired Air Force Officer, he has commanded troops during several tours in the United States and overseas and deployed as a reservist in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Chief of Command and Control Operations for the International Security Assistance Force at the Combined Joint Operations Center in Kabul, Afghanistan. Mr. Wassel Joined the Senior Executive Service (SES) Corps in 2019. His military and civilian decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, and the Secretary of Defense Meritorious and Exceptional Civilian Service Medals. He was decorated for his actions during the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Earlier this year national headlines were being made by a group of truck drivers at the U.S. and Canadian border, blocking international trade routes. The group was protesting Canadian and American mask and vaccine mandates which impacted who could cross the border. Historian Ben Baumann talks with terrorism expert Dr. Arie Perliger about the rise of far right terrorism, how the internet has changed terrorism, and what society needs to know about modern terrorism. (Dr. Arie Perliger is a Professor and the director of the graduate program in security studies at the School of Criminology and Justice Studies, University of Massachusetts Lowell. In the past 20 years, Dr. Perliger was engaged in an extensive study of issues related to terrorism and political violence, security policy and politics, politics and extremism of the Far Right in Israel, Europe, and the US, Middle Eastern Politics, and the applicability of Social Network Analysis to the study of political violence. His studies appeared in nine books and monographs and in numerous articles and book chapters and were cited in more than 1700 academic texts. His recent book, “American Zealots – Inside Right-Wing Domestic Terrorism,” which was published by Columbia University Press, provides an in-depth analysis of the history and contemporary trends of the violent American far-right. Dr. Perliger was also engaged in training practitioners from various agencies such as the FBI, CIA, and ICE. Additionally, he provided professional briefings to high-rank officials from the government and military, such as The Secretary of the Army, Army Chief of Staff, and SOCOM, AFRICOM, NORTHCOM, and JSOC commanders. Join us on the Iron Edge Podcast for a great discussion with LTC Judd Douglas of the US Army. We break down some of the issues men face regarding leadership and service in the church as well as at home and in business. LTC Douglas enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 1996 as an Electronic Warfare Technician, later to become a U.S. Navy Diver with Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Three out of Coronado California. His specific duties encompassed the Diving Supervisor and the primary Mammal Handler for “Ten”, an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin trained to locate underwater explosives. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, LTC Douglas pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from American Military University. In 2003 he attended Officer Candidate School where he was commissioned into the Arizona Army National Guard. In January of 2005 he became a distinguished honor graduate in his flight class and a rated Army Aviator; qualified in the AH-64D “Apache Longbow” and OH-58 A/C. Shortly thereafter he deployed as an Apache Pilot and Platoon Leader for D Company, 1-285th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. LTC Douglas transitioned to the UH-60 Blackhawk Maintenance Facility in 2009 where he became a Maintenance Test Pilot, an Instructor Pilot, and the Commander of Det 1, C Co., 5-159th Medical Evacuation Unit; eventually commanding the MEDEVAC on a combat deployment in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. LTC Douglas is qualified in the AH-64D Apache, LUH-72A Lakota, OH-58A/C, and UH-60A/L Blackhawk; to include Maintenance Test Pilot and Instructor Pilot. Over the past 8 years LTC Douglas' assignments have consisted of Brigade Operations Officer, Supervisor of Instructor Pilots, Army Aviation Support Facility Commander, Aide-de-Camp to the Deputy Commander of NORTHCOM, and Battalion Commander. During this time he completed a Master's degree in Business Administration from Grand Canyon University, attended the Defense Support to Civil Authorities course at NORTHCOM/NORAD, finished his professional development studies at the Command and General Staff College, and is currently attending the Joint Combined Warfare School. LTC Douglas has lead at all levels from Platoon to Battalion; including multiple Company and Battalion Commands. His awards and badges include a Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Army Aviation Wings, and a U.S.Navy Second Class Dive Badge. LTC Douglas has been married to Tammie Douglas, his high-school sweetheart, for 22 years and has three children; Kaden (21), Payton (18) and Kole (14). David Eells - 8/29/21 It's looking increasingly possible that President Trump, and the military, that still answer to him, made a secret deal with the Taliban to lure the "Biden administration" into the tar pit trap that you're seeing now in Kabul. Many more such snares could lie ahead. Patriots war-gamed everything by quantum super computer and rigged the field so that the fraudulent administration could step on landmine after landmine until it runs out of breath, so that the people, could pry their stolen Republic from its cold dead hands. I am a personal witness that computers can be demon possessed and that those demons can be cast out. This may have some bearing on the plans ahead going awry. So what we're hearing is that the black swan event is when it all starts with financial collapse, which is upon us. The Bitcoin data mining center under the Three Gorges Dam will be hit with the Rods of God along with their sex trafficking center and a Chinese Communist Party center. The 24-28 Nuke Reactors will be hit with Rods of God along with Deep Underground Military Bases and tunnels. We are told that all of this is being directed by a fifth generation super computer and that it is calculating the enemies moves into its predictions. When the enemy makes moves it recalculates, so these things can be altered, especially timing. God is sovereign over super computers too. We are hearing that the star-link satellite system which is up and running as we can see a trail of them across the night sky.  This is about to take over the old transmission system including the 5G, which will cut out the MSM. They have been saying that the new internet/phone system will be safe for the users. (i.e. radiation wise and probably hacking wise) Lets pray and hurry them along. The Taliban are said to be taking out the DS government and bankers and the pedophilia satanists in Afghanistan and bringing down the opium trade and rich resources that would have gone to China. We are told that Trump negotiated with them… Thats the good news about Afghanistan and we will cover the bad news below.  The Taliban have been excluded from NESARA until they tow the line. Pray for the Christians there to have the fear of the Lord and turn from Babylonish religion to God. Then we heard they met with the CIA so it is probable that they are playing both sides. We were under a few date trees and were walking towards a white tent. Sipho said to me, “Whatever anyone tells you, it is a lie. They are killing children here. They are passing them off as child sex slaves or “brides” or “grooms” and despicable things are being done. We intercept, and rescue them but no-one helps us. You need to help now.” (Pray for these children to be spared and to get out.) I walked into the tent and there were two Afghani men who were very pleased to see me. They gave me water and said, “See the precious young ones”. I walked over to where about 20 children were lying on the floor, listlessly. Some were sitting, playing in the dust. I had to fight back tears because each time I looked in their eyes I could see what they were rescued from. Some from molestation, some from hard labour, some from sex trafficking.  I started touching one child at a time, on their heads, praying for them gently and softly. (We can do this in the Spirit now. Touch these children through prayer.) When I did so, it was like they were revived and started poking their heads out of the tent with curiosity and their eyes brightened and then I heard some quiet laughter. I thought to myself, “this is a huge job. They will track us down. But we must try to save more”.  Sipho came to me and said, “We have to do what we can. You continue praying.” I felt like the tent had supernatural protection. I felt like the men in the tent, even though they seemed worldly, had supernatural protection.  I asked the Lord for a word by faith at random when I woke up. At first I received bel and Bela in my bible, at the back in the dictionary. It means “destruction”. Just underneath was the words “sons of belial” which means “worthlessness” and refers to those belonging to Satan. (Bel was the dragon of Babylon.) They seemed to be having "a good time" of sorts, as I observed them from the bushes. Then I saw a green, army helicopter that flew over them, it dropped a molotov cocktail that started a fire among them and they dispersed. Many got away. (Could this be the beginning of something bigger? It's a fire that has been “started.”) Chuc, Zoé, Jaden and I were staying in a beautiful white house that had been previously abandoned. We were staying there to take shelter from a coming storm. (Christians were sheltered by the White House but both it and they have been abandoned.) Suddenly, the group of people that escaped the molotov cocktail were at our doors in the white house, trying to gain access to the home. (Representing desparate people trying to escape the fires started in Afgahnistan. The Taliban also released all of the imprisoned Al Qaeda fighters, who hate Christians and Afghan helpers.)  So we bolted the doors. At one point when I opened the door for a moment, they almost got in. They were making threats against us and I was a bit nervous. Then one of them slipped a note under the door that said, "2 days." Essentially the note was threatening us, saying we had two days to leave or things would get a lot worse and there would be repercussions. (Chuc told me that in Afghanistan, the Christians were told they had 2 days to leave, which I did not know, so I felt that was confirmation of my dream.) (The Biden regime gave out the names of Americans and allies who want to leave Afghanistan, to the Taliban; essentially a ‘kill list'. It looks like the fire is going to get bigger.)  I thought on it and I was tempted to fear, but the Lord dropped into my spirit that He would help us. While still in a dream state, I thought of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they said in, Dan 3:17-18  If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of thy hand, O king.  18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. And then I decided I would write them a note back to say that the Lord would help us and deliver us. And then I woke up. The second stage of this covenant I have been quiet about for several reasons that are of God. The people of God need to accept this first stage because it is a good repetition of history that rebuilds the Kingdom.  But they need to opt out of the second stage because it leads to a one world order uniting of all nations, a world currency, and the mark of the beast. First we must be educated of the real Kingdom and its demands and then we need to take the test, the tribulation or trial.  Why are we wrong to think Trump is “The Antichrist”?    The Coming Prince of the Covenant  David Eells - 8-29-21 The majority of God's people will not recognize the beast and subsequently the covenant because of traditional, carnal, letter interpretations. (Dan.9:26)…The people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and even unto the end shall be war; desolations are determined. Notice that “the prince” whose people destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D. is also “he” in the same sentence who makes the covenant with many almost 2,000 years later! (27) And he shall make a firm covenant with many for one week…. The prince here is either a 2,000-year-old man, which Trump is not, or he is resurrected before the “first resurrection” that John saw after the Tribulation, or he is a spirit prince. Since the first conclusions are obviously not possible, we are left with a spirit prince. Here is a clue to the solution. All of the princes in Daniel's text were either angel princes or demon princes, who are called “principalities” in Ephesians 6:12. Of the three evil principalities mentioned, the first ruled over the Persian beast, the second ruled over the Grecian beast, and the third ruled over the Roman beast, which was the “prince that shall come” whose people destroyed Jerusalem. The people of God have been deluded by the traditions of men concerning the antichrist. If you are not willing to add to or take away from the Word, look up the term “antichrist” everywhere it is used in the Bible and you will get a revelation. In fact, you will wonder where the traditional idea of him as an individual came from, provided you respect only the Scriptures. Among these verses we are told how to tell who the antichrist is. (1Jn.4:1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Notice that God speaks of discerning the spirits, plural, in men. (2)…Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: (Notice that the question is not has Christ come in the flesh but is He presently in the flesh of the people you are discerning.) (3) and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the [spirit] of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already. We see that “every spirit” that is false is “the [spirit] of the antichrist.” The antichrist incorporates all whose spirit does not confess that Christ is in them. (4) Ye are of God, [my] little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. There are only two corporate spirits, “he that is in you” (the Spirit of Christ), or “he that is in the world” (the spirit of the antichrist). All are one in Christ because they have His Spirit. (Gal.3:28)…Ye all are one [man] in Christ Jesus. (Rom.8:9)….If any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. However, Solomon revealed that the corporate body of the beast has one common, unregenerate spirit. (Ecc.3:18) I said in my heart, [It is] because of the sons of men…that they may see that they themselves are [but as] beasts. (19)…yea, they have all one breath (Hebrew: “spirit”)…. The Holy Spirit first recreates in one corporate man, the Body of Christ, the born again “life-giving spirit” (1Cor.15:45) of Jesus from heaven and then fills that spirit with Himself. A corporate body of unholy spirits also recreates in one corporate man a corporate spirit born from the abyss, the antichrist. (1Jn.5:19) We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in the evil one. The beast is the body of man that is filled with the spirit and nature from below (Rev.17:8). In Daniel's vision of future great kingdoms that would rule the world, “four great beasts came up from the sea” (Dan.7:3). Scripturally there have been many corporate beasts but the one world corporate beast of Revelation is also coming. Lieutenant General Dana was an armor officer, logistics officer, and strategic planner in the Marine Corps for 37 years. During his career he deployed ten times to include deployments to Desert Storm, Operation Restore Hope, the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, Kuwait, Iraq, Haiti, and Afghanistan. He did joint tours in NORTHCOM, EUCOM, and PACOM. As a three-star he was the Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics from 2015-2018, and the Director of the Marine Corps Staff from 2018 to 2019. LtGen Dana is an Executive Fellow with the Institute for Defense and Business, and a Principal with PALLAS Advisor. He holds a Master's Degree from the Naval War College and is a graduate of the School of Advanced Warfighting. He has a B.A. from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y. Now, LtGen Dana has also given special focus to innovation and future warfare. As DC for Installations and Logistics, he formed a next generation logistics team (NEXLOG) focused on innovation. This team was instrumental in the fielding of additive manufacturing into the Marine Corps. NEXLOG also spearheaded experimentation with unmanned air, sea and land logistics delivery platforms. Additionally, this team was the incubator for the first ever Marine Corps innovation challenge, an event that provided Marines around the world a venue to express their ideas and develop solutions for tough logistical problems. Shortly before his retirement in 2019, LtGen Dana also published an assessment of the complexities of the current and future operating environment in an article for War on the Rocks entitled “Future War: Not Back to the Future.” His perspectives on innovation and future warfare are part of why we're excited to have him here today. Her first assignment was out at sea tour. She was on a smaller vessel so she would be out at sea for one to four weeks depending on the work they were doing. She was the only female on the ship she was assigned to and she found time at sea to be very lonely because she couldn’t spend time with anyone on her ship. She was thankful the rotations were short.After that tour, she was selected to become attend Law School in the DC area. While attending Law School she had the opportunity to attend social events at the White House. Her favorite event she attended was when Bill Clinton brought Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat to the White House to sign an agreement that strengthens Israeli security and expanded the area of Palestinian control in the West Bank. She said she saw Katie Couric at the event and had a chance to talk to her and she told her how nervous she was. She said attending that event was so cool because it was watching history take place right in front of her eyes.The World Changes September 11thShe was stationed in Long Beach on September 11th and worked to help secure the port in Long Beach. She discussed how they quickly began to implement changes to help ensure the safety of the port. September 11th had a huge impact on how the Coast Guard secured the borders and our ports and there continue to be changes and improvements made to this day.Command in AlaskaShe was given the opportunity to take command in Juneau, Alaska. The Commander was being relieved due to a toxic environment. She went into the role and was able to change the culture. The senior enlisted members (Chiefs) wanted the opportunity to lead so she gave them the task of consolidating the base and was blown away by the results. Another interesting project was safely removing an old cruise ship that had sunk in the 1950s and was beginning to leak oil. They worked together as a team to work to remove the hazard of having a huge spill in the Harbor.Becoming an AdmiralMelissa assumed she wouldn’t make Admiral the summer she was selected and had begun to start looking for her next step in her career outside of the military. She ended up getting selected and moved to Colorado Springs to work at NorthCom. At the same time, she was getting married and adopted their daughter. She and her new husband were separated and stayed connected through traveling back and forth and relying on the support of the on-base childcare. It was a crazy time. And after being separated for four years of being separated her husband has been able to move to be with his family. With COVID and all the travel limitations, it has been a blessing to be together.Bringing Women TogetherMelissa felt it was important to bring women together when she was part of the US Coast Guard Alumni. She realized many women were not participating and if they were they didn’t see themselves as a leader of the organization. She wanted to help build comradery and help empower women so she created XXX. The organization has now expanded and is working to bring more positive changes to women within the service. It shows the power of bringing women together and how real change can happen.The Lasting ImpactMelissa is currently a Rear Admiral in the US Coast Guard. She currently serves as the Judge Advocate General and Chief Counsel of the Coast Guard. She leads a dedicated group of 500 legal professionals who are responsible for the delivery of all legal services in support of the Coast Guard's missions, its units, and its people. The military is trying to get all of its systems and decision makers working together at high speed. Their system for doing so is called the Joint All-Domain Command and Control program (JADC2). But the collection and managing of data is making all that interconnectivity difficult. Now the Defense Department offices want to throw more money at it. His service ended upon a duty related injury, but not his desire to help educate and train others.  As an educator at Saint Petersburg College, he took over the fire science program, developed, wrote and implemented the first emergency management degree program in the State of Florida. Obtaining a federal grant, he designed, developed and implemented the first training center in the nation for preparing first responders in the event of terrorist attacks, called "The National Terrorism Preparedness Institute", still in operation today. He joined the staff in 1994, living in St Petersburg for 25 years.  At University of South Florida College of Public health, became an assistant professor, teaching Ideology of National and International Terrorism, taking on additional duties with the Center of Disaster Management and Humanitarian Action. He additionally served as co-founder for "The Center for Biological Terrorism Defense." He also designed, wrote and implemented a master’s level certificate program in Emergency Management, first in Florida.  After his career in academia, He transitioned to consulting in the field of emergency/ terrorism management. During this time, he authored and published six books on these subjects, many still being used today in the education system.  George has used his cumulative experience to manage catastrophic events such as the Indian Ocean Tsunami, being one of the first four Americans on the ground in Banda Acha to establish relief operations of the largest disaster in world history. Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Frances, terrorist attacks domestic and international. Mexico is worse off than you think, and it’s holding on by a thread. Our government’s lack of regard for defending our sovereignty will have devastating consequences if the Mexican government officially collapses, according to our special guest.  Today, I am joined by Col. Dan Steiner (@coldan11), a retired Air Force veteran who served as the director of joint operations for the Texas Military Forces until 2010. He directed coordination between the Texas Military Forces and NORTHCOM for many years and also served at CENTCOM. Yes, America is Still in an Official State of Emergency by Washington's Blog Is the U.S. still in an official state of emergency, and if so, what that means. The answer is yes, we are still in a state of emergency. Specifically: On September 11, 2001, the government declared a state of emergency. That declared state of emergency was formally put in writing on 9/14/2001: "A national emergency exists by reason of the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, New York, New York, and the Pentagon, and the continuing and immediate threat of further attacks on the United States. NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, I hereby declare that the national emergency has existed since September 11, 2001 . . . ." That declared state of emergency has continued in full force and effect from 9/11 [throughout the Bush administration] to the present. On September 10 2009, President Obama continued the state of emergency: The terrorist threat that led to the declaration on September 14, 2001, of a national emergency continues. For this reason, I have determined that it is necessary to continue in effect after September 14, 2009, the national emergency with respect to the terrorist threat. Does a State of Emergency Really Mean Anything? Does a state of emergency really mean anything? Yes, it does: The Washington Times wrote on September 18, 2001: "Simply by proclaiming a national emergency on Friday, President Bush activated some 500 dormant legal provisions, including those allowing him to impose censorship and martial law." Is the Times correct? Well, it is clear that pre-9/11 declarations of national emergency have authorized martial law. For example, as summarized by a former fellow for the Hoover Institution and the National Science Foundation, and the recipient of numerous awards, including the Gary Schlarbaum Award for Lifetime Defense of Liberty, Thomas Szasz Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Cause of Civil Liberties, Lysander Spooner Award for Advancing the Literature of Liberty and Templeton Honor Rolls Award on Education in a Free Society: In 1973, the Senate created a Special Committee on the Termination of the National Emergency (subsequently redesignated the Special Committee on National Emergencies and Delegated Emergency Powers) to investigate the matter and to propose reforms. Ascertaining the continued existence of four presidential declarations of national emergency, the Special Committee (U.S. Senate 1973, p. iii) reported: "These proclamations give force to 470 provisions of Federal law. . . . taken together, [they] confer enough authority to rule the country without reference to normal constitutional processes. Under the powers delegated by these statutes, the President may: seize property; organize and control the means of production; seize commodities; assign military forces abroad; institute martial law; seize and control all transportation and communications; regulate the operation of private enterprise; restrict travel; and, in a plethora of particular ways, control the lives of all American citizens." (Most or all of the emergency powers referred to by the above-quoted 1973 Senate report were revoked in the late 1970's by 50 U.S.C. Section 1601. However, presidents have made numerous declarations of emergency since then, and the declarations made by President Bush in September 2001 are still in effect). It is also clear that the White House has kept substantial information concerning its presidential proclamations and directives hidden from Congress. For example, according to Steven Aftergood of the Federation of American Scientists Project on Government Secrecy: "Of the 54 National Security Presidential Directives issued by the [George W.] Bush Administration to date, the titles of only about half have been publicly identified. There is descriptive material or actual text in the public domain for only about a third. In other words, there are dozens of undisclosed Presidential directives that define U.S. national security policy and task government agencies, but whose substance is unknown either to the public or, as a rule, to Congress." As former United States congressman Dan Hamburg wrote in October: While ... Congress and the judiciary, as well as public opinion, “can restrain the executive regarding emergency powers,” nothing of the sort has occurred. Under the 1976 National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601-1651), Congress is required to review presidentially declared emergencies. Specifically, “not later than six months after a national emergency is declared, and not later than the end of each six-month period thereafter that such emergency continues, each House of Congress shall meet to consider a vote on a joint resolution to determine whether that emergency shall be terminated.” Over the past eight years, Congress has failed to obey its own law, a fact that casts doubt on the legality of the state of emergency. As far as public opinion is concerned, how many Americans are even aware that a state of emergency even exists. For that matter, how many members of Congress know? ... The Obama administration is essentially arguing that the United States is currently in a state of resisting foreign invasion a full eight years after the attacks of 9/11! This is ludicrous. [Dr. Harold C. Relyea, a specialist in national government with the Congressional Research Service (CRS) of the Library of Congress] argues that Congress and the judiciary, as “co-equal branches of constitutional government,” serve as a check on the executive power. As we have seen, Congress has either been shut out of this process, or, as in so many cases, it has capitulated. Dr. Relyea then offers that public opinion can restrain the executive. But the public doesn’t even know they’re living under a state of emergency. The media doesn’t report it, and the government is certainly not in the business of providing information that might raise the hackles of real Americans.
