In this episode of "Normal World," Dave Landau, 1/4 Black Garrett, and Angela open with headlines about Travis Kelce's rumored Pfizer payday and Trump's unusual comments on autism in Cuba. The discussion quickly shifts to Kamala Harris' media tour, her new book 107 Days, and the contradictions in her remarks about Pete Buttigieg. The conversation broadens into her attacks on Trump, her rambling appearance on The View, and commentary on Antifa protests in Oregon, the ineffectiveness of activist theatrics, and the absurdity of civil unrest. Midway through, the hosts pivot into pop culture, debating the highs and lows of '80s and '90s cinema, John Hughes' teen classics, Eddie Murphy's career arc, and the lasting impact of Terminator 2, Mortal Kombat, and early video game movies. Halloween traditions come next, with a spirited push for better neighborhood participation, nostalgic ads, and the idea of reviving block parties. Later, the show examines Texas A&M's hazing scandal, shares stories of reckless youth, and dives into wild hotel tales that segue into conspiracy theories about Michael Jackson, Prince, and the music industry. The discussion rounds out with gangster rap history, Suge Knight's notorious reputation, and a “Half-Assed Top Ten” of banned TV shows. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

It has been a busy Week 5 in college football and there haven't even been any games played yet. Tuesday was a drama filled day in the state of Oklahoma. It was announced that three games into his 21st season, Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy was fired. The Oklahoma State legend had taken the school to unprecedented heights, but in recent years there was more struggle than triumph. Losing 11 of his last 12 games, and starting the year with a 1-2 record, that included a 69-3 loss to Oregon and a loss to Tulsa, appeared to be the final straw. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey react to the firing and discuss where it all started to go wrong for Gundy in recent years. Plus, some other news that came out on Tuesday was that Oklahoma's starting quarterback, John Mateer, broke his hand in Oklahoma's victory over Auburn and needed surgery. He is presumed to be out about a month, but no official timeline has been released. The guys discuss if Oklahoma can survive without Mateer, especially heading into the Red River Rivalry on Oct. 11. Can they still make the playoffs with a few losses if they look good when Mateer returns? Later, Ross gives us his report from the commissioners' meetings this week. Ross was on-site for the meetings where the College Football Playoff formats of the future were discussed. How soon may we get a new format or will we get one at all? It appears a new committee may be formed to help aid in that decision. A frustrated Godfrey chimes in with Andy as the guys give their thoughts on the proceedings. Plus, Ross gives us an update on the SCORE Act in his Congressional Minute. Finally, the guys discuss games. It is a loaded week of fantastic matchups in college football and the guys try to get to as many games as they can. They spoke Tuesday about the big game at Penn State, but what about another big matchup in Athens, GA as #17 Alabama visits #5 Georgia. Plus, top ranked Ohio State goes to Washington, #4 LSU visits #13 Ole Miss and #11 Indiana looks to keep their momentum going at Iowa. Then the guys give their picks for this week's I've Got A Feeling. Rice, Syracuse and the Notre Dame OVER are the picks for this week!Get ready for an epic week 5 with us at College Football Enquirer. (1:37) - Oklahoma's John Mateer out after surgery(10:18) - Mike Gundy fired(21:07) - Commissioners discuss a new CFP(32:41) - Ross' Congressional Minute(35:46) - Previewing #17 Alabama @ #5 Georgia(44:25) - Previewing #1 Ohio State @ Washington(47:31) - Previewing #11 Indiana @ Iowa(48:54) - Previewing #4 LSU @ #13 Ole Miss(53:15) - Other notable games(55:58) - I've Got A Feeling Subscribe to the College Football Enquirer on your favorite podcast app:
The weekend we have all been waiting for is here and so is McElroy to give you the only previews you need. Can Florida St continue the run game dominance at Virginia, will Illinois bounce back after last week's embarrassment or is USC too much to handle? Are Notre Dame and Ohio State on upset alert, can Texas A&M keep it going and will LSU be able to get the road win at Ole Miss? Plus, Gunner Stockton and Georgia welcome Ty Simpson and Alabama where the Tide will look to avoid their 2nd loss before October and Drew Aller, James Franklin and Penn State search for a signature win over Dan Lanning and #6 Oregon. Hosts Brad Fowler and Alex Higdon preview 3 of the biggest NFL games and 3 of the biggest College Football matchups for this weekend — and give their betting picks for each one. We cover — the Bucs’ injury concerns heading into a huge test against the Eagles, whether Baltimore can bounce back against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, and if Green Bay can recover from last week’s embarrassing loss and beat the Cowboys. Forget all that talk about education as the great equalizer. Public schools and inequality are joined at the hip. But must it be that way? We talk to the authors of a recent book called Schooled and Sorted, an eye-opening investigation into the ways sorting within schools translates into inequality in the larger world, and how to change that. And we head to Portland, Oregon for a close-up look at the most destructive sort of sorting in action, and meet some parents who are trying to do something about it. There are certain Saturdays that feel like they were built for college football: the lights, the noise, the choreography of a crowd that feels like it's part of the playbook. This week's conversation at Y-Option, presented by 76–keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat, welcomes back Todd Blackledge. On Saturday night, Todd will have the best seat in the house as he broadcasts the Oregon v Penn State game in Happy Valley during the Nittany Lions annual White Out.We dive into what it is like to broadcast a White Out, the match-ups he is looking forward to seeing play out and analyze both Drew Allar and Dante Moore.Todd shared the origin of his own career and how there is a unique connection between the start of his illustrious career and the famed White Out. He also shared how he prepares for a game like this, as he has known for months that NBC and his crew would be on the call.He also shared his truth on what Drew Allar needs to do in this environment and what this top 6 match-up will come down to.I've known Todd since he was calling Big East games back when I was playing and he's been a constant source of inspiration and support since we met in the early 2000s. Be sure to tune into the White Out this Saturday night as this rematch of the Big Ten Championship game from last season may be a classic. And to both fan bases, win or lose, your season is neither complete or ruined. Yes, it's a massive data point but it's only week 5, and we have a lot of ball left to play.I'm off to Minnesota to call one of the most intriguing games of the weekend as Rutgers and Greg Schiano visit P.J. Fleck, who once worked on Schiano's staff. I have a feeling we will kick off your Saturday with a four quarter game that will come down to a few plays, a few decisions.Enjoy Week 5 and as always, much love and stay steady,YogiY-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. Oregon is not known as a particular hot spot for whale watching – at least not compared to places like the Puget Sound or Hawaii – but at least one spot has enough action that it's been dubbed the “whale watching capital of Oregon.” On this week's episode of Peak Northwest, we take a trip to Depoe Bay, the whale watching destination on the central Oregon coast, where we look for gray whales, eat good seafood and explore all the other attractions around town. While most gray whales swim right past Depoe Bay on their annual migration, a small population likes to stick around. These “summer residents” have earned a following and helped establish a whale watching industry in town. As the whales gather in the shallows offshore, the people gather on the shores to watch. Here are some highlights from this week's show: Where, when and how to go whale watching in Depoe Bay. The food scene in town is worth exploring, from Gracie's Sea Hag to Pirate Coffee Company. A series of small parks around town offer beautiful ocean views. What would a coast town be without some good shoppy shops? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

September 11, 1987. Cowlitz County, Washington. The dismembered headless torso of a woman is discovered in the Lewis River and the same victim's legs are soon found 30 miles away in the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon. Thirteen days later, the body of an infant girl who is believed to be the woman's daughter is discovered in the Cowlitz River, but since the identity of both victims cannot be determined, they remain Jane Does. In 2006, the decedents are finally identified as 24-year old Raj Narain, who originally hailed from Fiji, and her 14-month old American-born daughter, Kamnee. It turns out that Raj's 30-year old husband, Ashok Narain, went missing around the same time the murders took place, but since he cannot be found, the crime is never solved. Did Ashok murder his wife and daughter, or were all they victims of an unknown third party? On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore the bizarre saga of the Narain family. If you have any information about this case, please contact the the Kelso Police Department at (360) 423-1270., the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office at (360) 577-3092 or the Eugene Police Department at (541) 682-5111. Griffin Warner and Lonte Smith talk CFB betting for Week 5. [00:00 | Speaker 3] The discussion begins with intensity: “Offense, play fast. Defense, swarm. Swarm and tackle.” The repeated demand to “out-block, out-tackle, out-hit, out-hustle” and “Leave no doubt tonight!” frames a theme of urgency and dominance. [00:45 | Griffin Warner] Griffin introduces the Week 5 show, joking about Vanderbilt's surprising success and admitting their bets went 0-2 after a 2-0 streak, showing how volatile the season can be. [02:10 | Lonte Smith] Lonte reflects on UConn: “The UConn play was the wrong side,” noting they had chances but “couldn't capitalize and couldn't stop Kelly on the run.” He highlights Vanderbilt scoring 72, their most since 1918, underscoring how explosive games can get. [05:30 | Griffin Warner] Alabama vs Georgia comes up with Alabama +3 and total 52. [06:15 | Lonte Smith] Lonte stresses “My number is exactly three,” pointing to both teams' weak pass rush. Georgia ranks outside the top 100 in EPA per pass and has just three sacks, while Alabama has only 31 pressures. He predicts “an explosion of big plays” and loves the over 52.5, leaning slightly to Georgia at home. [12:40 | Griffin Warner] Griffin asks about shifts in program power. [13:20 | Lonte Smith] Lonte explains, “Bama is second tier to what Georgia is doing,” crediting Kirby Smart's continuity and NFL pipeline, while contrasting Saban's defensive style with DeBoer's offensive focus. [15:00 | Griffin Warner] Next is LSU at Ole Miss, with Ole Miss -1.5 and total 54.5. [15:45 | Lonte Smith] Lonte breaks down the quarterback dilemma: Trinidad Chambliss has been “nothing short of sensational,” while Austin Simmons is turnover-prone. LSU can exploit Ole Miss's weakness, “outside the top 115 in rush success rate.” He says, “The over is good regardless of quarterback.” [21:20 | Griffin Warner] Moving to Ohio State at Washington, Griffin notes the line moved from -12.5 to -8.5. [22:00 | Lonte Smith] Lonte cites, “Five and nine straight up for Power Four quarterbacks making their first road start.” Washington has a 21-game home win streak, one of the best in the nation. He suggests betting Washington early before Ohio State's depth shows, expecting an eventual Buckeye win by eight or nine points. [28:15 | Griffin Warner] Griffin asks why bettors move against “the number one program.” [28:40 | Lonte Smith] Lonte answers that sharps love home dogs, adding Washington's momentum, dual-threat QB De'Mon Williams, and cross-country travel factors make this a prime spot. [31:00 | Griffin Warner] Griffin introduces Oregon at Penn State, Oregon +3.5. [31:30 | Lonte Smith] Lonte says, “I love Penn State in this spot.” He criticizes Drew Aller, “outside the top 100 in QBR,” and weak receivers, but expects Penn State's elite defense in a whiteout to overwhelm Oregon despite Dante Moore's strong play. He predicts a 9-10 point Penn State win. [37:00 | Griffin Warner] Griffin highlights the impact of a night game at Happy Valley and travel challenges. [38:10 | Lonte Smith] Lonte agrees, noting Penn State's balance and defensive edge. [39:45 | Griffin Warner] Griffin offers promo code “Blitz20.” [41:00 | Lonte Smith] Lonte's best bet is Illinois +7 vs USC, citing USC's struggles traveling east and poor defense: “124th in rush success rate allowed.” With RB Aiden Lowry returning and QB Luke Altmyer's legs, Illinois can bounce back. [44:00 | Griffin Warner] Griffin agrees on the full touchdown value. His best bet is over 54.5 in LSU vs Ole Miss, banking on scoring regardless of quarterback uncertainty. [46:00 | Closing] Both hosts thank listeners, preview October matchups, and hope to rebound with winners. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
