We start this one off hot—Kevin's having a meltdown, Jason's picking fights, and SOMEONE is locked out of their own damn computer. Meanwhile, Chris is pretending to be organized while secretly rigging the the BIG BOARD. We dive into the shady world of dealership oil changes, how to blow $10 million (with zero tax planning), and what exactly a meth-fueled Oregon man was doing when the cops showed up (spoiler: it's NSFW). There's also planning drama, New Year's chaos, Jose maybe moving, and Kevin catching stray bullets for his hatred of fun. We wrap it up with DAD TIP and some hands-on history, VR war trauma, and a sobering realization that Snoop Dogg still hasn't replied. Also—major shoutout to our first-time listener Brian… buddy, we're sorry.

From childhood sightings in rural Wyoming to missing time, telepathic interactions, vivid dreams of abduction, and high-speed UFOs witnessed with his wife in Oregon, Rob's story spans generations and geography. He shares chilling experiences from as early as age three, including shared sightings with family, visitations by strange beings, downloads of unknown information, and even a surreal encounter with dozens of small humanoids wandering through his apartment complex. We also hear of startling family revelations, like his mother's sudden admission of contact, and his father's vivid recollections of being aboard a craft watching Earth vanish from view. More than just a collection of sightings, this episode is a powerful reflection on memory, belief, and the strange ways these experiences shape a life. The entire state of Oregon is facing a housing crisis, and the coast – where second homes and short-term rentals can skew the market – is no exception. “Think Out Loud” traveled to Lincoln County recently to talk about solutions. We had a series of conversations about different approaches residents and organizations are taking to create more units, more affordability and more stability so that existing homeowners can stay in their homes. We started in Newport, where Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center is putting the finishing touches on a new apartment complex. When it’s done, it will house visiting researchers and students. Bob Cowen recently retired as the director of the center. He took us on a tour of the building and talked about the need for workforce housing in Lincoln County.

These two explosive broadcasts delve into twin crises shaking American politics. First, the mysterious collapse of promises to expose Jeffrey Epstein's client list has fractured trust among Trump's most loyal supporters, fueling theories of betrayal, deep state deals, and deliberate cover-ups. Amid accusations that the administration is shielding powerful elites or has lost control of federal agencies, listeners express outrage and suspicion that will not easily fade. Meanwhile, violence erupts as left-wing extremists attack ICE facilities in Texas and Oregon, deploying tactical gear, Molotov cocktails, and ambush tactics to terrorize law enforcement. Together, these stories paint a grim portrait of a country where public faith in institutions has collapsed, political violence is escalating, and citizens are left wondering who—if anyone—can be trusted.

What's the link between our destination and our way? This is one of those things that is not difficult to comprehend but by all appearances, famously difficult to obey. The way is often not apparent or is offensive to us. Or it may be that the way we have chosen is so precious to us that we have lost both the clarity and the concern about our destination. In any evet, it is improbable that we will choose the way of Jesus even if we affirm the goodness of his destination. This is the situation that Mahlon Zehr addresses, exploring how these four virtues enable us to follow the way of Jesus. Humility Faith Hope Love Mahlon speaks as a farmer, educator, and writer from northern Oregon. “A foolish man chooses his way and must accept his destiny, but a wise man chooses his destiny and accepts the way.” -Anon. Lecture ten of a series on the 'Doctrine of Atonement', delivered by Dr. Mildred Bangs Wynkoop during the fall of 1979 at Nazarene Theological Seminary. Dr. Wynkoop was a remarkable voice in the Church of the Nazarene—a writer, pastor, missionary, and theologian whose influence continues to resonate today. Her most celebrated works are Foundations of Wesleyan-Arminian Theology and A Theology of Love: The Dynamic of Wesleyanism, both of which continue to shape contemporary Wesleyan thought. Her ministry journey spanned the globe and the academy. She pastored churches in California and Oregon, taught at George Fox Evangelical Seminary, and served as the founding president of Japan Nazarene Theological Seminary. She also taught in Taiwan before returning to the United States to serve as Professor of Theology at Trevecca Nazarene College (1966–1976) and later at Nazarene Theological Seminary (1976–1979). Throughout her century-long life and ministry, Dr. Wynkoop met Phineas Bresee, who studied under H. Orton Wiley and Olive Winchester, and left a profound impact on generations of students and colleagues across four Nazarene institutions—having studied at Point Loma Nazarene University and Northwest Nazarene University, and having taught at Trevecca Nazarene University and Nazarene Theological Seminary. *These recordings, captured initially in 1979, have been substantially restored. While Dr. Wynkoop's voice has been clarified, student questions during Q&A segments may be difficult to discern. Her responses, however, remain clear and impactful.* Lifelong Learning Code: 80890 Click here to learn about Lifelong Learning

Could Oregon, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Kansas State and Illinois have their greatest college football seasons in program history in 2025? On this Kings of the North, Doug Lesmerises and Bill Landis, look at their best individual seasons for their 28 Northern teams and see which teams had had them recently -- hello Michigan and Iowa State -- which teams had them a long time ago -- how about Boston College and BYU in 1984? -- and which six teams could have them this year. Then it's another KOTN Showdown, this time between two teams that could make real playoff runs this season: Kansas State and Illinois. Thanks for joining Kings of the North.
The 2025 college football season represents a landmark year for the Big Ten as it embarks on its first full 18‑team campaign without divisions, blending traditional powerhouses and fresh contenders. Ohio State enters as reigning national champions and favorites to repeat, with a loaded roster and high expectations under quarterback Julian Sayin. Penn State, led by Drew Allar and dynamic backs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, looks poised to challenge for the title after finishing strong in 2024. Oregon aims to defend its conference crown, returning stars like Dante Moore and Matayo Uiagalelei. Michigan, fresh off a bowl win and reloaded with five-star QB Bryce Underwood, remains in the national conversation but enters 2025 with more questions than answers under Sherrone Moore. Beyond the top-tier contenders, programs like Illinois and Indiana are gaining momentum, while USC, Nebraska, and Wisconsin look to find consistency in a hyper-competitive field. In this preview, we break down team-by-team outlooks, preseason rankings, title odds, and key matchups—plus our favorite sleeper picks and futures bets heading into Week 1. New to FanDuel Sportsbook? In this special bonus episode we're headed to Oregon with the our friends the hosts of the Hidden Trails of Oregon Podcast.“It's part action movie, part rock show blurring into the superbowl. It feels modern, but bull riding itself goes back to the bronze age. And that's true for rodeo contests in general: bull riding, barrel racing or wild cow milking, they're all based on tradition, and in keeping those traditions alive.‘Let ‘Er Buck' makes a lot of sense from the back of a bull. But as we find out, it's much more than a rodeo shout: it's a way of life.”We're leaping headfirst into the rodeo to end all rodeos, the 115 year-old Pendleton Roundup! In this episode, host Aaron Millar tests his mettle on a massive mechanical hog, before climbing into the stands for a (literally) explosive ‘Xtreme Bulls' finale. We'll lean over the bucking chutes and get clobbered by dirt flung from bronco hooves. But the roundup isn't all spectacle, it's also about family and tradition. We'll step back in time to learn about the history of the event while sipping whiskey in the notorious ‘Let ‘er Buck' room. Stories of champions, princesses, suicide-racers and steer-wrestlers wait around every corner. We'll meet a generational indigenous horse relay racing team, hand them microphones, and listen in on their insane bare-back bid for victory. And through it all explore the western ties that bring all these groups to rodeo together each September.LET ‘ER BUCK!Remember you can see all of this yourself. Go to PendletonRoundup.com for details and take our advice: book early!Plan your next Oregon adventure at TravelOregon.com and you can find the full Hidden Trails of Oregon Podcast on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.Thank you to all guests featured on the show: Toni Minthorn, Scott and Dylan Abramson, Pat Nogle and Butch Knowles A special thank you to Greg and Petra for showing us such a great time, we can't wait to come back. This episode involves sexual abuse. Please keep that in mind in choosing when and where to listen. And if you or someone you know may be a victim of sexual abuse, confidential support, information and advice are available at the National Sexual Assault Hotline by calling 800-656-4673. Description: In November of 2024 protests erupted in the small Oregon city of St. Helens. Students and parents called for more accountability after two teachers were arrested for allegedly abusing students. A police investigation led to the arrests of choir teacher Eric Stearns and recently retired math teacher Mark Collins, who were charged with sexually abusing multiple students between 2015 and 2024. This is not the first time that a teacher at St. Helens High School has been accused of abusing students. OPB reporter Joni Auden Land covered the upheaval in St Helens as it unfolded late last year. Around that same time, they got an email from someone who graduated from high school there in 1988. The email was from Jodie Westing, and she said that when she was a 17-year-old senior at St Helens High School, a 31-year-old teacher groomed and manipulated her into a sexual relationship with him. The teacher Westing says abused her was Gene Evans, who later became a spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Education and the Department of Human Services. Westing’s email launched a months-long investigation by OPB. Joni joins us to tell the story and give us a window into their reporting process. Thought you'd heard the last of History by the Glass? Think again! After a 6-month hiatus, Alfredo & Nate are back for their fourth season of vintage bar-going adventures. As part of their annual curiosity-laden Bourdain Day observance, the boys squeezed into an 8-seat turboprop bound for the cowboy town of Pendleton — "The Real West" of Oregon — for their first official HBTG bar visit outside of the Portland metro. There they found a lively, highly walkable/stumbleable drinking town anchored by the 130ish-year-old Rainbow Cafe, cheerfully maintaining its (recently "Swindler-ed") claim of being the oldest bar in Oregon. Facts are indeed stubborn things, but no amount of verifiable contradictory history has ever kept the fellas from a good time over a few rounds in a high-character old joint! PLUS — a salute to the ultimate barstool everyman George Wendt, kudos to Esquire's favorite HBTG bar, and more!Bar visit and segment recording: Wednesday, June 25, 2025 Additional recording: Tuesday, July 1, 2025 HBTG theme song: "Frozen Egg" by Lame Drivers Interlude music: "Right Track" by Lame Drivers
