A woman is stabbed dozens of times in her own home and left for dead. With little to go on, Detective Aaron must follow every possible lead—a boot print, a knife, a curiously timed trip across state lines, and a web of forensic evidence. This case is packed with twists and turns, but in the end, one thing matters most: ensuring the suspects are brought to justice. Detective Aaron (Retired) started his law enforcement career as an Explorer in Alaska at 13 years old. He then spent 21 years as a Sworn police officer in Alaska and Oregon. During his career he was assigned to patrol, Field Training, he was a police Instructor, spent time assigned to a drug enforcement team and spent his final 11 years assigned to his agency's Major Crimes Team as a homicide and child abuse detective. Detective Aaron retired from Law Enforcement in 2023. For bonus episodes, behind-the-scenes shenanigans, join the SuperFam community at smalltowndicks.com/superfam

In This Podcast: Greg interviews Michael Olson, a returning guest and influential figure in the food system. Michael shares his background as a Montana farm boy, Vietnam veteran, and author of Metro Farm. Then they jump into Michael's 'Three Laws of the Food Chain,' which include: 1) Agriculture is the foundation upon which we build all our sandcastles, 2) The farther we go from the source of our food, the less control we have over what's in our food, and 3) Cheap food isn't cheap. They discuss the evolution of local food movements, the impact of farmer's markets, and the importance of understanding where our food comes from. Michael emphasizes the value of local, nutrient-rich foods and the historical precedent for sustainable, small-scale farming seen in Asian cultures. The episode concludes with a call to action for consumers to seek out food with its farmer's face on it, underscoring the profound impact of food on human well-being.Our Guest: Michael Olson is a Montana farm boy and Vietnam veteran with a University of California degree in English & Chinese Literature. Earlier in life he participated in the commercial production of a wide variety of crops in California, Montana and Oregon. He has consulted on farm projects throughout the world, from the island of Cyprus, to the jungles of the Amazon, and the streets of Watts. As a journalist he authored three non-fiction books, including MetroFarm a Book of the Year award-winner, has produced documentaries for NBC Magazine with David Brinkley, and hosted over 1,380 episodes of his syndicated Food Chain Radio show. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

In this episode, we visit with Orin Nusbaum from Nusbaum Farms in Bellfountain, Oregon — a grower, husband, father, and content creator who's cultivating more than just crops. Orin gives us a glimpse into what life looks like on his diversified farm where he grows a variety of crops and provides fresh produce to local markets and his surrounding community. We explore how the farm has evolved over time — including planting 10 acres of oats in fall 2022, a crop that may have been a first for the operation — and how he navigates the unpredictability of farming, like this past season's surprise combine fire. Orin also shares how his family plays an active role on the farm: his wife, kids, and even the dog stay involved in everything from harvest to road trips to answering calls when things get busy.Celebrating 20 years of marriage, Orin and his wife have built a life around faith, family, and farming. Their teamwork, especially during harvest and hay season, is something that truly sets Nusbaum Farms apart. We talk social media, small-town support, and why it's so important to be present — both online and in the rows. Tonight's guest, Darrell Adams, moved to Oregon in 2011, after retiring from his union construction job. Darrell wasn't interested in Sasquatch, but his brother has been fascinated with them for a long time. After finding out that Darrell had moved to Oregon, his brother asked him to keep an eye out for evidence of Sasquatch activity. After his brother let him know what to look for, he found a lot of evidence that Sasquatch actually were in the areas he was hunting in. Until he started finding evidence that they were in the area, Darrell didn't even believe in their existence. After finding all of the evidence he started to find, however, he had a paradigm shift. At that point, he became a believer. It wasn't long after that that he became a knower, though. He had his first sighting. In this conversation we talk with Garrett Felber about their latest book A Continuous Struggle: The Revolutionary Life of Martin Sostre.  In discussing this new political biography, we cover Sostre's ideological and political journey, history as a jailhouse lawyer, his forms of organizing practice, and the ways that people supported his campaign for freedom from political imprisonment. We talk about the influence of Great Depression era Harlem, Black and Puerto Rican Nationalism, Marxism-Leninism, national liberation movements, armed struggle, Women's Liberation, and Anarchism on Sostre's political thought and practice. Although much of what we know about Martin Sostre has to do with political letters and writings during the time of his incarceration, Felber also shares insights that few know about Sostre's life, community organizing, and institution building on the outside. Garrett Felber is an educator, writer, and organizer. They are the author of Those Who Know Don't Say: The Nation of Islam, the Black Freedom Movement, and the Carceral State, and coauthor of The Portable Malcolm X Reader, with Manning Marable. Felber is a cofounder of the abolitionist collective Study and Struggle and is currently building a radical mobile library, the Free Society People's Library, in Portland, Oregon. Yesterday we hosted Garrett Felber along with Russell Shoatz III on a livestream where we talked about some of the resonances between Martin Sostre's life, political thought, and approaches to political prisoner defense work and that of Russell “Maroon” Shoatz and we also discussed CURBfest which is expanding to the West Coast for the first time this year.  Tomorrow Thursday the 29th we will host a livestream on Sundiata Jawanza's Freedom Campaign including a quickly approaching parole hearing. We encourage all of you to go to the website and send letters of support for his release. The website says that letters were due on May 19th, but there is still just a little time if you can get a letter in the mail today or at least submit one electronically or contribute to the legal support fund that would be great.  There are a number of other initiatives we want to share related to this episode, the campaign to free the Mississippi 5 which Garrett Felber mentions in this episode and the exoneration effort for Martin Sostre and his codefendant who is still with Geraldine (Robinson) Pointer. Links for that are in the show description. If you like the work that we do, please contribute to our patreon or BuyMeACoffee accounts. These episodes each take hours of preparation, recording time, and production time and listeners like you are the only means of support for that work. Over the last month we've seen a 10% decline in recurring support. We know people are under financial strain right now, but if more of you who listen are able to contribute even a dollar a month it helps make this show possible and sustainable. Thank you for your support! Links:  Martin Sostre and Geraldine (Robinson) Pointer's names should have been cleared after they were framed. Peristyle Podcast - USC Trojan Football Discussion
Will the November 1 trip to Nebraska be the barometer game for the Trojans?

Peristyle Podcast - USC Trojan Football Discussion

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the 2025 USC football schedule and how the early November trip to Lincoln could be the determining factor for the Trojans having a successful campaign. After finishing the regular season 6-6 in 2024 with no true Big Ten road victories, USC will try to take a huge step forward and be a real factor in the conference title race this season. To do so, the Trojans will need to grind out some tough victories on the road and we are circling that November 1 date against the Cornhuskers as the barometer game for USC. Looking at the way too early top-25 polls USC will face a few ranked teams on the road including Notre Dame, Oregon and Illinois and face off against Michigan at home. The post-spring SP+ rankings have Notre Dame at No. 6, Oregon at No. 7, Michigan at No. 10, Illinois at No. 19 then Iowa at No. 28 and Nebraska at No. 34 (with USC at No. 30). No other program on the Trojans schedule is in the SP+ top-50. Most sportsbooks currently have USC's over/under win total at 7.5, but barely surpassing that with an 8-4 record likely wouldn't be enough for Trojan fans to feel the season was a success. If we assume the pair of top-10 road games are losses, it doesn't leave much room for error for the Trojans to get to that 9-win mark. To have any chance of success USC will need to win its tough home games, so let's assume the Trojans go 2-1 with Michigan, Iowa and at Illinois. That leaves the November 1 game against Nebraska as the lynchpin to a successful season. The Huskers, like the Trojans, did a lot of work in the off-season to try and improve and some even feel Nebraska could make a run at the College Football Playoffs. USC got the better of Nebraska last season in the Coliseum, so Matt Rhule and company will be trying to return the favor when the Trojans come to town. In our opinion, both programs will desperately need that victory to take the next step towards conference respectability. CLICK HERE for 30% OFF an annual VIP membership to USCFootball.com!  Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts! It's Tuesday, May 27th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Trump delegation investigates violations of free speech in U.K. The Trump administration has sent a delegation  to investigate the violations of free speech in the United Kingdom. They met with five people who have been arrested, and even convicted, of praying silently near abortion mills in Glasgow, Scotland as well as Birmingham and Bournemouth, England. At issue is the U.K.'s equating protesting near abortion clinics with silent prayer, and the government's antipathy towards pro-lifers expressing their opinions about killing children.  Only 39% of Americans “extremely proud” of citizenship Are Americans losing a sense of patriotism?  A 2023 Gallup Survey found only 39% of Americans are “Extremely Proud” of their citizenship status.  And a Wall Street Journal/National Opinion Research Center survey found the percentage of Americans who considered patriotism “very important” has dropped from 70% in 1998 to 38% in 2023.  Keep in mind Isaiah 40:5-7. It says, “Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the small dust on the scales; look, [the Lord] lifts up the isles as a very little thing. And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor its beasts sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before Him are as nothing, and they are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless.” Russia launched largest aerial attack on Ukraine since war's start Russia launched  298 drones and 69 missiles on Kiev over the weekend, reports the Associated Press. It was the largest aerial attack on the capital of Ukraine since the beginning of the 3-year war. Altogether, Russia sent 900 drones into Ukraine over the weekend. President Trump responded on his Truth Social account calling Putin “absolutely crazy,” reports The Financial Times. TRUMP: “I'm not happy with what [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is doing. He's killing a lot of people. I don't know what happened to Putin. I've known him a long time. Always gotten along with him, but he's sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don't like it at all. Okay? We're in the middle of talking, and he's shooting rockets into Kiev and other cities. I don't like it at all.” And Trump warned that any attempt on the part of Russia to take all of Ukraine would "lead to the downfall of Russia.”  Trump's “Big Beautiful Bill” goes to the Senate As The Worldview reported on Friday, Trump's “Big, Beautiful Bill” passed the House of Representatives by a single vote on Thursday.   The major highlights of the bill include tax cuts, the elimination of $700 million of Planned Parenthood funding, a national private school dollar-for-dollar tax credit to scholarship donors, and an expanded child tax credit. If you have not yet called your two Senators, call them TODAY at 202-224-3121 and ask them to DEFUND Planned Parenthood. We can expect maybe even a bigger fight in the Senate over the spending bill. Republican Senators are split on the bill.  Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri does not want to cut Medicaid spending.  And Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky described the spending cuts this way.  PAUL: “I support spending cuts. I think the cuts currently in the bill are wimpy and anemic.” Texas legislature passed Ten Commandments bill on Sabbath The Texas legislature has approved a bill requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments in public schools throughout the state come September. Ironically, they passed the bill on the Sabbath, breaking the fourth commandment! The bill heads back to the Senate, after which Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott is expected to sign it into law. A similar law, enacted recently in Louisiana, is hung up in a federal court. Oregon has more elderly than children The state of Oregon's demographics are not doing well. The state now has more elderly over 65 years of age than children under 18 years of age, presenting a demographic challenge, reports The Oregonian.  In 1985, there were twice as many children as elderly. At this rate, in 10 more years, Oregon will have 40% more seniors than children.   The state holds the position as the eighth worst demographic in the nation. The other states are located on the eastern seaboard. Oregon was the first state to legalize physician-assisted suicide. That was in 1994. Here is what God says in Deuteronomy 30:19. “I call Heaven and Earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” 500,000 new homes are on the market The U.S. construction industry should beware!   Inventory of new homes has reached 2007 levels — now 500,000 on the market, up from 150,000 homes in 2012. America is most generous nation America is the most generous nation in the world, by a long shot.   That's the conclusion in the most recent Global Philanthropy Report produced by the Lilly Foundation.    The US is the highest charitable contributor to other nations, by percentage of gross national income. With a total of $50 billion of philanthropic outflow, Americans contribute 70% of the world's philanthropic outflow to other nations, whereas it only makes up 4% of the world's population. Other generous nations included the UK, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Australia, and South Korea.  The late Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty proclaimed Jesus And finally, Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame has died at the age of 79. His family announced Sunday that he has gone to be with the Lord.  Willie and Korie Robertson Instagrammed that “He reminded us often of the words of Paul.  ‘You do not grieve like those who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.'” Phil said, “When I die, don't cry. Sing. Dance. But don't cry when I die.  When I die, you say, ‘He made it!'” His son and daughter-in-law spoke of the lives who “have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus.” Listen to Phil share his love of evangelism in this excerpt from his Unashamed podcast. PHIL: “It's been the most exciting one thing I've ever done in my life.” WILLIE: “What?” PHIL: “To see people go from lost to saved.” WILLIE:  “Oh, that's right!” PHIL: “It's the most exciting thing I've ever done in my life is being a part of that. The guy that ordered the duck call. That's all he wanted was a duck call. And in the midst of that, he cursed God. ‘G.D. this and G.D. that.'  Before we hung up, he said, ‘You got my duck call coming?' I said, ‘Yeah, I got it coming.' “I said, ‘By the way, why do you keep cursing the only One that could save you from death?' It was silence.  He said, ‘Hey, send me my duck call.'  (Dial tone. He hung up). “Well, about 10 minutes went by and the phone rang. He said, ‘Hey, it's me again. You know what? I never thought about that.' I said, ‘Well, you're cursing Him. Unless He can get you out of here alive, I don't know no one else that could. You know what you ought to do. You ought to come over here and I'll tell you about the One you're cursing. You may change your mind.' He said, ‘I might do that.' I said, ‘Well, you ought to.'  Well a week goes by, knock on the door, he steps in the door, and he said, ‘I'm the one that was cursing God. And you told me you're going to show me why I shouldn't.' “So, I told him about Jesus. He was converted. About 15 or 20 years later, I ran into him, and he was one of the leaders at that church where I was speaking. So, you never know.” The Duck Dynasty reality program aired on A&E between 2012 and 2017. At its peak, the reality program reached 10 million viewers.  Sadly, the network pulled the program after Phil Robertson referred to homosexual behavior as “sinful.”  Watch the trailer for the movie about Phil called The Blind and rent the movie itself here. Today, we have two messages as we continue our Sermon on the Mount series. Jimmy Cleary and Andy Rosse each unpack one of the most sobering passages in Scripture — Matthew 7:21-23 — revealing the uncomfortable truth that religious activity alone doesn't secure eternity. We're challenged to examine our hearts honestly: Are we relying on empty religious activities, or do we have a daily habit of repentance and a genuine relationship with Christ? If you've ever felt uncertain about your standing with God or questioned whether your life reflects your beliefs, this message offers clarity and hope.Thank you for listening to this message from Northwest Hills Community Church in Corvallis, Oregon, on May 25, 2025, at 8:30am & 10:15am. Polygraph tests aren't proof — but they can reveal pressure points. In this episode, Oregon Jon agrees to take one. We walk through every question, every reaction, and what the results might mean. It's not science. It's not evidence. But it is... something. This episode was originally published on July 28th, 2018. Dear Sugars returned to Portland, Oregon, for an epic live show. Special guests Mitchell S. Jackson and Rebecca Skloot shared the stage with the Sugars to tell stories of personal reckoning and answer letters from the audience. To some extent, every letter the Sugars receive is a kind of reckoning, as it's often the letter writer's first attempt at taking account of their mistakes and delusions. In this episode, the Sugars take a long hard look at transgressions of love, friendship, the self and so much more. Mitchell S. Jackson is the author of “The Residue Years,” which won the Ernest J. Gaines Prize for Literary Excellence. He is the winner of a Whiting Award, and his honors include fellowships from Ted, the Lannan Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. His new book, "Survival Math," will be out in 2019. Rebecca Skloot is the author of the No. 1 New York Times best seller “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” which was made into an Emmy-nominated HBO film starring Oprah Winfrey and Rose Byrne. Her award-winning science writing has appeared in The New York Times Magazine; O, The Oprah Magazine; and many other publications.

HT2267 - Cameras Don't Make Pictures, but They Do Make Pictures Possible I've been photographing this week in eastern Oregon. I've been here so often, I shouldn't need to return. This time, however, I'm here with a digital camera and a long lens and the combination has allowed me to make images I've wanted to for decades but couldn't accomplish with a view camera. For example, so far I have at least a dozen long-form panoramas, the longest of which will print to 12-inches by 6-feet. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to display them. Today on the Matt Walsh Show, President Trump confronts the anti-white president of South Africa in the Oval Office. The “No Tax On Tips” bill passes through the Senate unanimously, which means it's a really bad idea. Trans activists figure out a way to shove their propaganda in your face, even out in the middle of the wilderness. And a school employee in Oregon is accused of a “biased incident” because he had a copy of my children's book, Johnny the Walrus, on his shelf. Click here to join the member-exclusive portion of my show: https://bit.ly/4bEQDy6 Ep.1602 - - - DailyWire+: This week only, don't miss the DailyWire+ Memorial Day Sale—get 40% off an Annual Membership with code DW40. Check out this sneak peek of Jordan B. I'm bringing you one of the most impactful keynotes I've ever done—my 2017 Q&A with the Dutch Bros Coffee team in Portland, Oregon. It's been a fan-favorite for years and I totally understand why: the energy, the heart, the realness in this room was just unreal. No fluff—just practical, emotional, and deeply honest takes on leadership, burnout, ambition, and what it really means to care. This wasn't just a speech—it was a back-and-forth with some of the most passionate people I've ever talked to. Managers, baristas, social leads, and young hustlers all brought the heat with their questions—and I gave them everything I had.
