His music combines the depth of a singer-songwriter with a fusion of Rock and Alternative genres, injecting a breath of fresh air into a scene often dominated by Country roots. With a powerful vocal range and a singing style influenced by icons like Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Layne Staley, Dylan Wheeler stands out as a truly unique and exceptional artist. His music defies categorization, appealing to a wide audience and fueling dreams of success. Currently living his dream, Dylan's future looks promising as he continues to make his mark in the industry. Hailing from Edgewood, Texas, he cut his teeth in small dive bars, following in the footsteps of his East Texas heroes. However, what sets Dylan apart is his ability to cultivate a dedicated fan base even before officially releasing his music.Through social media platforms like Twitter, Dylan garnered fans from all over by sharing acoustic videos of both original songs and covers. One of his videos, a rendition of the 90s country hit "Strawberry Wine," quickly gained over 100,000 views, providing a glimpse of his potential. This early fan base eagerly anticipated the release of his first EP, "Tell Me If I'm Wrong," in late 2018. The songs from this EP accumulated tens of thousands, and later hundreds of thousands, of streams, solidifying Dylan's destiny as a full-time musician. In 2019, Dylan made the life-changing decision to quit his job in the Oil & Gas industry and fully commit himself to music. Embracing this new path, his schedule filled up with bigger and better shows, frequent trips to Nashville for writing and recording, and continuous engagement with his growing fan base. Each new song released showcased his artistic growth, attracting new fans while further captivating his existing supporters.Within just a few years, Dylan's journey has transformed from receiving tens of thousands of views on acoustic videos to amassing tens of millions of streams across major platforms. He has transitioned from playing small dive bars to selling out major venues in his home state and beyond. However, Dylan sees himself as just beginning, believing that the sky's the limit. Ryan Manuel is a singer-songwriter based in Lawrence, Kansas. He got his start playing music in his hometown of Sedalia, Missouri after winning the 2011 MO State Fair Idol competition. He has been playing shows around the Midwest, writing and recording music ever since. Ryan has opened for Whiskey Myers, the Randy Rogers Band, William Clark Green, and many others. Since hitting the Kansas City music scene in 2012, he has released a solo album "Kansas" and his band Ryan Manuel and the Getaway released a full length, self-penned album, “On the Run." Ryan first came to my attention in about 2015 through an introduction by the late Scott Ford who was very instrumental in making me aware of a number of artists in the so called Texas Songwriter and Oklahoma Red Dirt Music Scene. I finally caught a set from Ryan before the pandemic in the summer of 2019 when I was pleasantly surprised to find him on stage when we dropped into the music venue formerly known as Repeal 18th in North Kansas City. Ryan reached out to me to help him get his newest single “Sold” on the radio here in Kansas City. In this conversation we had on a recent show, I was particularly encouraged by his supportive words of the Heartland music scene and willingness to NOT dismiss or write off the small towns and rural communities that deserve to experience live music. Lend your ears to a troubadour from the Heartland, Ryan Manuel.

Episode 141 is with The Panhandlers--the West Texas collaboration between songwriters Josh Abbott, William Clark Green, John Baumann, and Cleto Cordero of Flatland Cavalry--who released their debut self-titled last Spring. As their namesake alludes, these songs are about the Panhandle of Texas and the greater West Texas area in general. As sons of The Panhandle and Far West Texas, their solo catalogs have often echoed the howling winds that drive Heaven and earth across the South Plains, the unrelenting sun that dries out cattle pastures and iron orchards of the rugged oil fields, and most importantly, the resilient folks who claim the Land of Big Sky home. The quartet understands them more than most due to their time working and living in the Hub City of Lubbock for long stretches of time. With The Panhandlers, they've written and recorded an album's worth of richly detailed vignettes and organic dust-blown ballads that celebrate their West Texas roots and heritage. During this interview, we talk about those West Texas roots, talk about the Blue Light songwriting culture, the works of Jerry Jeff Walker and Billy Joe Shaver, and hear a handful of stories about life in Lubbock. Toma uno - Una canción para recordar - 25/07/20

Toma uno

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 25, 2020 58:59

Crowe & The New South. Escuchar audio

"Come Back Down", es una invitación a volver a casa tras estar demasiado tiempo fuera. THE TROUBADOUR PODCAST - The Premier Red Dirt, Texas Country and Independent Music Podcast

At the ripe old age of twenty-six, Texas and Americana Music Rock and Roller, Austin Meade, is carving out his own niche in the independent music scene. Austin's latest record, "Waves" has all the vibe, feel and look of 1970s, all the way down to the look of the front-man.   Despite his relatively young age, Austin has four records under his belt and is quickly solidifying himself as an authentic artist that's here to stay. In this interview we learn how Austin's father, a Baptist preacher, was a fan of some 70's greats including Styx and .38 Special which bled over into Austin's taste in music and is partially responsible for the direction he's taken with his own music. While attending college in College Station, Texas, Austin was introduced to Texas Country and Red Dirt Music along with the artists making up the genre.  For a love of music, drums and guitar, Austin soon found himself trying to subtly introduce himself to folks like William Clark Green, Randy Rogers and Cross Canadian Ragweed frontman, Cody Canada. By developing these relationships with these type of artists, Austin has gained the respect of many of his peers in the music business; so much so that Austin now teaches guitar for Cody Canada at the local School of Rock for youngsters. We expect to see great things in the future out of this genuine, hard-working rocker.   Make sure and check out his new album "Waves" by visiting www.austinmeade.com   www.thetroubadourpodcast.com CHECK OUT THE TROUBADOUR ON THESE PLATFORMS: iTunes Stitcher Spotify

Chris Colston is an up-and-coming artist from Texas who is following in the footsteps of artists like Parker McCollum and Koe Wetzel in gaining national notoriety. Chris joins Country Music Made Me to talk about the moments that led to his passion for chasing a career in music, like jamming with his friends at the local church, performing on the Texas Opry Circuit, earning a residency at the Republic Icehouse in Tyler Texas, and releasing his first album "Guitar Playin' Outlaw". Chris and Brendan talk about how important the support of the close knit community within the Red Dirt music scene has been, what it's been like playing with and getting to know his musical idols like Randy Rogers, Codey Canada, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Josh Abbot, William Clark Green and Stoney LaRue, and why things may have been much different if he hadn't met fellow musician Koe Wetzel early in his journey. Chris explains the process of entering the Nashville scene from Texas, what it's been like transitioning to the world of co-writing rather than always writing by himself, and the goals he has for his career outside of his home state. Finally, Chris talks about his new album "Boy Like Me" and how he hopes to develop as a songwriter and eventually co-write every track he records.
