UK economic data last week highlighted renewed inflation pressures and persistent uncertainty. Food inflation hit a one-year high in May, rising 2.8% year-on-year. Kantar reported that grocery prices surged 4.1%, the highest in 15 months, driven by higher payroll taxes and minimum wage hikes. Business confidence slumped, with Confederation of British Industry (“CBI”) surveys showing sharp declines across services, as firms cited rising employment costs and tax burdens. The Bank of England (“BoE”) Governor, Andrew Bailey, urged caution on rate cuts, citing inflation uncertainty and trade risks, while Monetary Policy Committee (“MPC”) member Alan Taylor advocated for easing due to downside risks. Despite headwinds, Lloyds' business barometer rebounded to 50%, buoyed by Donald Trump's softened tariff stance and a US-UK trade deal. However, artificial intelligence (“AI”) disruption concerns mounted, with youth unemployment rising to 12.6%...Stocks featured:Auto Trader Group, GSK and M>o find out more about the investment management services offered by Walker Crips, please visit our website:https://www.walkercrips.co.uk/This podcast is intended to be Walker Crips Investment Management's own commentary on markets. Der Strip steht still. Pauli El Topo bester Mann!“
Much like the early steps to doing better at blackjack than everyone else using basic strategy, poker also has a basic strategy that will instantly improve nearly everyone's game. PLUS: I'm not producing bonus content for free members as well. Pick your tier and sign up here:https://lowlimitcashgames.com Let's break down the concept of **basic strategy** in poker and why it's the foundation of becoming a winning player. What's Basic Strategy? In games like blackjack, there's a “basic strategy” that players memorize to minimize losses. For example, in blackjack, just by memorizing and following basic strategy can reduce your expected loss from 3-6% (if you're just winging it) to 1% or less. Card counters take it even further by adjusting their play based on the cards left in the deck, allowing them to make smarter decisions and bet bigger when the odds are in their favor. By keeping count of the cards and knowing the composition of the remainder of the deck, this allows them to do things like modify the basic strategy when the count says you should stand on hands you would normally hit. Or split tens which you would normally never do. Or bet 3x or 5x or 9x your base bet. And if you happened to be at a table that accidentally flashed their down card 20% of the time you could massively deviate from basic strategy to crush even more. Poker has its own version of basic strategy, and it starts with preflop charts. These charts tell you which hands to play (and how to play them) based on your position at the table. Unlike blackjack, where basic strategy still leaves you at a slight disadvantage, mastering poker's basic strategy can turn a losing player into a break-even or even slightly winning player—fast. Why Preflop Charts Matter Preflop charts are like your poker GPS. They guide you on: - Which hands to open (e.g., raising from under the gun vs. the cutoff). - When to fold, call, or raise based on your position and the action before you. By sticking to these charts, you avoid making costly mistakes early in the hand. For example, you'll know not to play a weak hand from early position or to raise aggressively with strong hands in late position. This alone can transform your game from losing to break-even or better. Now let's put all of this into perspective and build a plan around it. I'll use another analogy, cooking, to help us develop this plan. Poker Basics: Build Your Game Like a Pro (Even If You're Just Starting Out) Alright, let's simplify poker strategy so you can *actually* remember it and use it. Imagine you're learning to cook: you need to master the recipe first before you start improvising. Poker's the same way. Here's your step-by-step guide: --- Step 1: Learn the “Recipe” (Preflop Charts)** In poker, **preflop charts** are your recipe book. They tell you: - What hands to play (e.g., “Should I raise Ace-King from early position?”). - How to play them (fold, call, raise). Why this works: Most losing players hemorrhage money by playing too many weak hands. Preflop charts fix that. Memorize them, and you'll instantly: ✅ Stop bleeding chips with junk hands. ✅ Make fewer “What was I thinking?!” mistakes. Start with **tight ranges** (play fewer hands) until you're comfortable. Think of it like training wheels—they keep you safe while you learn. What range you should play from each position can easily be found by searching for poker charts online. There are many places with free resources. Just choose one that is tailored to live game and not GTO ranges or online ranges. Adjust to Your “Kitchen” (Table Dynamics)** Once you've memorized the basics, it's time to adapt. Poker isn't played in a vacuum—your opponents matter! Example Adjustments: - If everyone's folding too much → **Loosen up** (play more hands). - If the table's aggressive → **Tighten up** (only play strong hands). - If someone's a calling station → **Bluff less**, value bet more. Key Insight: The best players aren't robots. They tweak their strategy like chefs adjusting seasoning—*a little more salt here, less spice there*. Master the “Knife Skills” (3-Betting and 4-Betting)** This is where pots get big, and mistakes get costly. This allows you slice and dice your opponents stacks at will. - **3-bet** = Re-raise before the flop (e.g., someone raises, you re-raise). - **4-bet** = Re-raise a 3-bet (aggressive moves for big pots). Why This Matters: If you only 3-bet with premium hands (like Aces or Kings), savvy players will exploit you. Mix in *some bluffs* (like suited connectors) to keep opponents guessing. Simple Basic Rule: Start with a **basic 3-bet range** (10% of hands) and expand as you get comfortable. Good charts can help you refine this with 3b and 4b ranges you can memorize as well. Study Like a Scientist Poker rewards homework. Here's how to practice: 1. **Drill Preflop Charts**: Use apps or flashcards (10 minutes/day). 2. **Review Hands**: After each session, ask: *“Did I follow my ranges?”* 3. **Spot Opponent Leaks**: Notice patterns (e.g., “Player X always folds to 3-bets”). **Think of It Like Lifting Weights**: You wouldn't skip leg day and expect to run a marathon. Don't skip preflop study and expect to win. Final Takeaway 1. Learn the basics → Stop losing. 2. Adapt to opponents → Start winning. 3. Practice relentlessly → Crush consistently. Your Homework Tonight: - Pick one position (I recommend utg) and memorize its opening range. Take as many nights as you need to do this. Once you have memorized that position, start on another one. Wash, rinse, repeat.

GTO Wizard - The best way to learn and practice GTO!Use this link to sign up: https://gtowizard.com/p/junglemanDESCRIPTIONAlright, so I sat down with French OG for this episode of Winning The Game Of Life. This guy's got a wild background – went from grinding poker tables, understanding odds and variance, to coaching guys through the even more complex and sometimes brutal game of modern dating. We didn't waste time on fluff; we jumped straight into the deep end, applying strategic thinking and probability to figure out what actually works with women, relationships, and frankly, just navigating human psychology when the stakes feel high.Expect some takes that might make you uncomfortable. French OG dropped some bombs, like comparing personality to makeup and arguing why chasing commitment can kill attraction. We went back and forth on whether optimizing for 'lays' is a fundamental mistake (a point where I think the Red Pill logic often breaks down), debated the real source of confidence, and even touched on whether my blue hair stunt was a calculated 'polarizing' move. It's raw, unfiltered, and definitely not your standard dating advice. If you're tired of simplistic answers and want to explore the messy variables, the actual 'game theory' behind attraction and connection, then you need to check this out. We dissect common assumptions, challenge popular narratives, and try to find a real edge in understanding this crucial part of life. Hit play, listen close, and then tell me in the comments where you think we got it right or wrong – figuring this stuff out is part of winning the game.CHAPTERS00:00 – Intro: Meet French OG01:35 – Twitter Truths & Trolls04:45 – French OG: Poker Player to Dating Coach09:15 – Poker Strategy Applied to Dating13:47 – Confidence, Uncertainty & Poker Mindset16:10 – Coaching Smart Guys (INTJs)18:20 – Boundaries vs. Ultimatums in Dating20:30 – Dealing with Randomness (Poker & Life)23:34 – Culture Clash: Agency vs. Environment25:05 – Poker Analogy: Know Your Value & Spot27:38 – Jungleman's Blue Hair: Polarizing Works31:39 – Don't Be Average32:10 – Niche Strategy: Poker Tables & Dating Apps34:27 – Red Pill Critique: Optimize LIFE, Not Lays36:16 – Lust vs. Love: Who Secures the Relationship?37:03 – Debate: Leading with Relationship Intent40:05 – Filtering for Partner vs. Max Quantity44:45 – Why Men Shouldn't Chase Relationships45:50 – Red Pill Flaw: Metrics Aren't Everything48:05 – Defining Male Personality48:39 – Coaching Different Men, Different Goals53:40 – Advice for the "Average" Guy58:24 – Looks, Fitness & Self-Care Matter01:00:30 – Ripped vs. Money vs. Confidence Debate01:04:40 – Personality is Male "Makeup"01:07:20 – The "Good Woman" Debate01:12:15 – Compatibility vs. Pedestals01:14:05 – Predictable vs. Exciting Relationships01:20:15 – Control Dynamics & Dealing with Damage01:21:05 – Final Thoughts & OutroPINNED COMMENTFrench OG says that "Personality is makeup for men". Seriously, why would someone leave crushing it at the tables? We dug into applying hardcore poker thinking – the EV, the polarization – to the business world, and turns out, most business folks are missing this crucial stuff. He breaks down why you actually need to repel some people to attract the right ones, a wild concept that makes a lot of sense once you hear it.Beyond the strategy, we touched on some deep and unexpected territory: intense spiritual journeys, what it's really like buying and running businesses without prior experience, and the brutal lessons about who to trust along the way. Poker is already a complex game—but many players try to make it easier by using simplified poker strategies. Whether it's range c-betting 1/3 pot, 3-bet-only from the small blind, or avoiding donk bets entirely, the goal is always the same: reduce decisions & reduce errors. But is simplifying your strategy actually helping your win rate? Or is it quietly costing you chips? In this episode of the Red Chip Poker Podcast, we explore the real trade-offs behind simplified poker strategies, their relationship to GTO solver output, and the critical distinction between playing GTO and playing exploitatively. This is a must-listen for serious players diving into solvers and anyone questioning whether "just keeping it simple" is the right approach.

GTO poker isn't unbeatable — in fact, it's full of cracks. In this episode of the Red Chip Poker Podcast, we reveal exactly how to generate an edge against solver output, challenge GTO dogma, and outmaneuver “optimal” opponents. Whether you're battling bots or facing players trying to perfectly mimic solvers, this deep dive breaks down why GTO isn't the end-all strategy — and how to beat it. We explore: Solver weaknesses like finite sizings, rigid stack depths, and limited trees How unorthodox sizing, lines, and timing force exploitable mistakes Why out-of-band data like tells and timing are still king How to think laterally about GTO and poker strategy This episode also previews our brand-new PRO course “Myths of Poker” — uncovering common misconceptions even winning players still believe. **LINKS** · GTO Poker Gems 2: https://redchippoker.com/gto-gems-2-book · Join PRO Today: https://redchippoker.com/pro-membership · GTO vs Equity Distribution: https://www.splitsuit.com/gto-poker-equity-distribution **JOIN US ON DISCORD** Join us on Discord today: https://redchippoker.com/discord
Automotive nostalgia takes center stage as we explore five legendary car manufacturers that deserve resurrection in today's market. From AMC's innovative Javelin AMX with its performance-focused design to Pontiac's revolutionary GTO that birthed the American muscle car movement, these vanished brands left tire tracks too deep to be forgotten. The distinctive bullet-nosed Studebaker Champion once captured hearts with its unique styling and affordability, while Mercury established itself as America's sixth most popular car brand in the early 1950s with classics that remain custom car holy grails. Plymouth's no-frills Roadrunner proved that accessible performance could dominate the muscle car scene. Our Hemings' Sold Car Roundup segment reveals surprising current values for classic automobiles. A 1989 Cadillac Alante sells for just $5,400, while a pristine '64 Chevelle commands $31,500. These figures demonstrate that classic car ownership remains attainable for many enthusiasts, with everything from British Triumphs to American muscle changing hands at reasonable prices. We also examine concerning trends in the automotive industry, where executive compensation continues to skyrocket despite persistent quality issues. Ford CEO Jim Farley earned $24.9 million despite missing quality and EV sales targets, while GM's Mary Barra received $29.5 million as Detroit's highest-paid auto executive for the ninth time in ten years.Whether you're dreaming of bygone automotive eras or tracking today's industry developments, this episode delivers insights that both casual drivers and dedicated enthusiasts will appreciate. You've heard the claims—poker is dead. The rise of GTO solvers, real-time assistance (RTA), cheating scandals, and unbeatable rake structures have all fueled the conversation. But how much of it is hype, and how much is reality? In this episode of the Red Chip Poker Podcast, we take a serious, fact-driven look at whether poker is truly in decline—or if it's simply evolving. You'll explore the current landscape of online and live poker, including the influence of poker AI, the misconception that the game has been fully solved, and how technology has shaped both the risks and opportunities available to today's players. If you've ever wondered whether it's still possible to profit at the tables, this episode breaks down what you actually need to know—and how to stay one step ahead. From discussing the difference between strong and weak GTO solutions to dissecting the challenges of RTA-based cheating, this video gives you the tools to make informed decisions about your own poker journey. We also touch on which formats might be safer or more lucrative in the coming years, and what trends could shape the next chapter of the game. Whether you're a recreational player or someone taking poker seriously, this episode aims to replace fear with clarity. The game isn't dead—but it is different. And understanding those differences could be the key to finding long-term success. **LINKS** · GTO Poker Gems 2 (The book): https://redchippoker.com/gto-gems-2-book · What About Live Poker?: https://www.splitsuit.com/live-poker-cash-game-truths · More RCP Poker Books: https://redchippoker.com/poker-books/ **JOIN US ON DISCORD** Join us on Discord today: https://redchippoker.com/discord

"GRIEVING IN THE DOLLS HOUSE"David Johansen passed away peacefully at home on February 28, holding the hands of his wife Mara Hennessey and daughter Leah, in the sunlight surrounded by music and flowers. After a decade of profoundly compromised health he died at the age of 75. David and his family were deeply moved by the outpouring of love and support they've experienced recently as the result of having gone public with their challenges. He was thankful that he had a chance to be in touch with so many friends and family before he passed. He knew he was ecstatically loved."My mother and I would like to thank everyone for the fathomless love and support you've all shown us since we went public with David's diagnosis. We were able to make the last few weeks of David's life with us as serene and anxiety free as possible. As well as alleviating some of our more pressing material concerns, this campaign did make David feel profoundly connected. He really did feel the love from everyone. For the time being we will leave the fund open to contributions, to continue to pay off the debts accrued during David's long illness. We will share details about memorials and tributes soon. There will be several events celebrating David's life and artistry, details to follow.Thank you so much for the …LUVLove,Leah and Mara"THE GTO'S -"PERMANENT DAMAGE"- THEIR LONE VINYL FOOTPRINT"HARDLY A CHEAP TRICK"These seven young women left a permanent mark upon my perceptions of the feminine equation and artistic desires during what was known as the 60's Summer of Love. So much to ponder about these girls who just wanted to have fun. They left a legacy which when viewed through the lens of artistic achievement, made them the first female Punk Rockettes. When the testimony is placed under the microscope of human triumph, destiny betrayed them. They were the creation of a time (The 1960's) and a place (Laurel Canyon) where history tells us that the possibilities of inclusion could make a groupie as appreciated as Joni Mitchell.Frank Zappa knew better.Frank understood the nature of Permanent Damage. The most famous and successful of the GTOs is Miss Pamela, currently Pamela Des Barres, author of the groupie-memoir I'm With The Band. Des Barres's new book, Let's Spend the Night Together, a collection of interviews with fellow rock groupies, was released on July 1, 2007. Miss Mercy's 'biography' was expanded at length within the chapter entitled, "Miss Mercy's Blues". Also within the book, Des Barres notes that Miss Cynderella died in 2007 under mysterious circumstances. Miss Christine died on November 5th, 1972, of an overdose in a hotel room, after spending close to a year in a full body cast to correct her crooked spine. Miss Lucy died of an AIDS-related disease in the early 1990s. During her time as a GTO, Sandra became pregnant by Zappa's resident artist, Calvin Schenkel, and had a daughter named Raven. Miss Sandra later moved back to San Pedro and eventually Italy with her new husband and three children. She died of cancer on April 23, 1991. Miss Sparky is still alive, but not much has been divulged of her post-GTO's endeavours. In Circular Circulation, They Circle Continuously.- Rich Buckland

Most people that try to learn it don't. Because it's very hard. And even those that come close don't understand how to deviate to exploit others. So they are winning the minimum most of the time. PTO - Population Theory Optimal or Pool Theory Optimal. Learning the habits and tendencies of the pool of players you play in and creating strategies against them as a group and individually to maximally exploit them. Downsides: if any of them ever smarten up and decided to exploit you getting out of line they could wreck you. This just isn't going to happen at 1/2 or 1/3 stakes. And if anyone is capable of doing it you will know who they are very quickly and not fall prey to that. Online coaching gurus are doing this with databases bought or collected from online play. It's called mass data analysis or MDA. In live play you don't have a database other than the one you collect in your brain by playing. So you can't get it by either playing for many many years. Or by being taught by someone who has.

GTO Wizard - The best way to learn and practice GTO!Use this link to sign up: https://gtowizard.com/p/junglemanIn this episode, I sat down with Mateos Norian—better known as 2cardtito—a 23-year-old grinder living with his parents while chasing his poker dream. This guy's story is incredible. He started playing poker in his friends' basements during COVID, worked his way up from $0.01/$0.02 stakes, and now he's playing $20/$40 live games with a $90K bankroll. But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. We talked about his $50K downswing, the mental grind of poker, and why he believes bankroll management isn't one-size-fits-all (hot take: you don't need 100 buy-ins if you have income). Mateos also shared why he started creating poker content to show the emotional side of the game—the wins, the losses, and everything in between. This isn't just another poker story. Mateos has some crazy tales, from live turtles at the table to hunting down the best games in America. Whether you're grinding your way up or just love wild poker stories, this is one conversation you don't want to miss.Give 2cardtito a follow:IG: @2cardtitoYoutube: @2cardtitoJoin The JungleVerse and sharpen your skills in a community built for winners: https://enterthejungleverse.com/Here is what you can expect to here on this video:02:07 - Introduction of Mateos Norian (@2cardtito)07:02 - First Live Poker Experience10:41 - Bankroll Management and Moving Up Stakes12:43 - Taking a Break from Live Poker17:36 - Defining High Stakes Poker19:21 - Creating Poker Content and Transparency23:32 - Biggest Pot Ever Played29:19 - Bankroll Management Strategy Discussion31:18 - Playing Short Stack vs. Deep Stack35:10 - Best Places to Play Poker Worldwide38:00 - Private Games vs. Public Games42:20 - Craziest Casino Stories49:48 - Transparency in Poker Content Creation54:40 - Recovering from Major Downswings01:09:19 - Closing Thoughts and Guest PlugsFollow "Jungleman" Dan Cates:Instagram:@thedancatesX (Formerly Twitter): @junglemandanJoin Poker Academy today using this link: https://www.preflop.academy/?via=danJoin Poker Academy today using this link: https://www.preflop.academy/?via=danPoker strategy tipsPoker tournament highlightsPoker player profilesPoker player rankingsPoker coachingPoker mental game

Top 5 Most Asked Questions About Poker 1.Why does the solver recommend folding AQo to 3-bets? A solver often recommends folding Ace-Queen offsuit (AQo) to a 3-bet due to several factors tied to game theory optimal (GTO) play, equity, and positional dynamics. But there are even more considerations when playing against your average low stakes player. A. Equity Against 3-Bet Ranges When running AQo in an equity calculator against typical low-stakes 3-bet ranges, it shows approximately 36% equity. This is not ideal when facing a 3-bet, as AQo is often dominated by stronger hands like AK, QQ+, and even suited Aces. If you are out of position, this problem becomes even worse, as it is difficult to realize the full equity of your hand. Playing out of position adds complexity, reduces profitability, and increases the likelihood of making costly mistakes . B. Reverse Implied Odds AQo has significant reverse implied odds, meaning it can lead to costly situations when dominated by hands like AK or AQ suited. This risk is amplified in multi-street play, as committing chips with a dominated hand often results in losing larger pots . C. Positional Disadvantages When out of position, AQo struggles to realize equity effectively. Even when facing a rare low-stakes opponent who includes some preflop “bluffs” in their 3-bet range, such as A5 suited, JT suited, and 65 suited, it remains difficult to realize your equity. Out of position, you will often be forced to navigate complex postflop decisions where opponents can leverage their positional advantage to deny your equity realization 2.What are some tells to identify weaker players or ‘fish' at the table? A.Playing Too Many Hands Bad players often enter the pot with a wide range of weak hands, ignoring position and strength. They rarely fold preflop, making them easy targets for skilled players who tighten up and exploit their loose tendencies. B.Mostly Limping and Being Passive Frequent limping signals inexperience or fear of aggression. Passive players rarely raise, preferring to call or limp, which makes it hard for them to build pots or protect their equity. This playstyle is exploitable with aggression. C.Not Buying in for a Full 100 Big Blinds Short-stacked players who buy in for less than the table maximum often lack confidence or a proper bankroll strategy. This limits their ability to play effectively postflop and makes them more predictable. 3.How should I adjust my play when facing different bet sizes post-flop? In live low-stakes no-limit hold'em cash games, players often telegraph the strength of their hands through their bet sizing. Here's a concise breakdown of how you can exploit this tendency effectively: A.Responding to Large Bets: Large bets typically indicate very strong hands. Against players who follow this pattern, you can confidently fold marginal hands, minimizing losses in situations where you are likely to be beaten. B.Responding to Small Bets: * With Strong Hands: When opponents bet small, indicating weakness, capitalize by simply calling or occasionally raising for value. This traps them into continuing with weaker holdings. * With Weak Hands: You can use small bets as an opportunity to bluff with hands that have no showdown value. A well-timed raise can force them to fold weak holdings, allowing you to win the pot without a strong hand. Recognizing and exploiting betting patterns helps you control the game flow. For instance, when opponents telegraph weak hands with small bets, you can either take the pot with aggressive raises or extract maximum value from your stronger hands by avoiding over-raising, which might scare them off. 4.How do I balance my range to remain unpredictable to observant opponents? Unless you have observant studied players about table it's isn't necessary to spend much time worrying about balance. You will make far more money focusing on exploiting the weak players massive mistake. While good players would adjust to your exploits, making you exploitable, your average low stakes players never will adjust. 5.What adjustments should I make when playing against calling stations? A. Value bet aggressively. Bet all of your top pair hands, solid second pair hands with good kickers, and extract values from their weak hands and draws. B. Use large bet sizings with your strong value hands. Instead of betting 1/2 pot or 2/3 pot, go larger and bet nearly pot. Versus some calling stations you can even get called by over bet sizings. C. Don't bluff. And only semi bluff with your strongest draws with the most equity. D. Throw flop C-bet frequencies out the window. Only C-bet when you have a value hand. C. Avoid tilt when they draw out on you. A calling station that is running hot can make for a very frustrating session. D. Don't pay them off. When they change from passive calling, to betting or raising, only call them when you have the most nutted hands. Fold everything else.
