The episode highlights a surge in small business digital transformation initiatives, with over 80% of surveyed leaders either adopting or considering AI technology. This trend is accompanied by a forecasted 40% increase in capital expenditures, reflecting a strong optimism among business leaders regarding future profits and sales. The episode also notes a recovery in the global smartphone market, driven by consumer demand for ultra-premium devices, and a substantial rise in data center spending, primarily fueled by hyperscalers and enterprise investments. The podcast delves into the job market, reporting that the U.S. added 256,000 jobs in December 2024, marking the largest increase since March. Unemployment rates fell to 4.1%, with wages rising by 3.9% year-over-year. CompTIA's report indicates a growth of 7,000 tech jobs in December, despite losses in PC and semiconductor manufacturing. The demand for roles in software development, IT project management, and cybersecurity remains robust, with nearly half of job postings not requiring a four-year degree, suggesting increased accessibility in tech careers. In a significant industry shift, the Computing Technology Industry Association has rebranded to the Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA), focusing on serving the IT channel. This change follows the sale of CompTIA's training and certification business, which will now operate separately. The GTIA aims to maintain affordable membership dues while expanding charitable initiatives in technology. Meanwhile, Kaseya's CEO Fred Voccola transitions to vice chairman, leaving behind a legacy of growth as the company seeks a new leader to navigate its future. The episode also covers recent acquisitions, including WatchGuard Technologies' purchase of ActZero, a threat analysis startup, and 1Password's acquisition of Trellica, a provider of SaaS access management tools. These moves reflect a broader trend of platform expansion within the tech industry. Four things to know today 00:00 Big Wins for Tech: AI Booms, Jobs Climb, and Small Businesses Bet Big on Transformation05:32 From CompTIA to GTIA: What the Rebrand Means for the IT Channel's Future06:36 Fred Voccola Passes the Torch at Kaseya—What's Next for the $1.5B Powerhouse?07:56 WatchGuard and 1Password Make Big Moves—Platform Expansion, Security, and SaaS Simplified Appearance on IT Business Podcast https://youtu.be/FCDmm2p_noc?si=WVcUxjLv71vGwjpb  Supported by:  https://www.huntress.com/mspradio/https://mspradio.com/engage/   All our Sponsors: https://businessof.tech/sponsors/ Do you want the show on your podcast app or the written versions of the stories? The tech industry is renowned for expensive startup costs and never-ending elevator speeches. Kevin Lancaster is the Co-Founder of a company that's changing the game, connecting service providers and vendors on a level playing field. As the CEO and Co-Founder of Channel Program, Kevin has been named one of the Top 25 Software Sales Executives by The Software Report in 2021. He's built channel programs that have generated more than $5 billion in revenue and is a leading authority on cyber security, technology innovation, startup acceleration, and channel program development. His passion for supporting the underdog, creating meaningful partnerships, and making space for diverse voices fuels his work at Channel Program. Kevin has an unrelenting drive to revolutionize the IT channel by empowering and inspiring both vendors and IT service providers to focus on community-building, collaboration, and respectful communication–a formula he believes will lead to greater success and health for the channel as a whole, along with its thousands of partners.  How personal branding contributes to MSP success Kevin has two main recommendations for anyone looking to build a successful MSP. The first is to build a strong personal brand–post consistently online, share thought leadership content, and be transparent about what you're doing and why. Both Kevin and his business partner have spent years building their brand and reputation in the industry. The second recommendation is to take a sales class, especially if you're an introvert or selling is outside your comfort zone. Get comfortable talking to customers and build relationships. These two skills work hand-in-hand, as creating a personal brand will also help you sell more effectively.  Creating an open and accessible community After working in the industry for years, Kevin realized that the largest vendors were pricing out emerging competitors. At trade shows, for example, the larger companies held a monopoly on keynote speeches and the best booth locations, while newer startups were relegated to the sidelines.  Kevin and his business partner wanted to give those scrappy startups an opportunity for equal access. So they launched a virtual event, Channel Pitch, where every company received seven minutes to pitch to vendors, regardless of size. The event was a hit and Channel Program grew the platform it is today, where vendors and IT service providers can connect in an open and equal community. Enjoy this episode with Channel Program CEO Kevin Lancaster… Quotes “There are a handful of large vendors out there that are private equity backed, publicly traded, and they have deep pockets. What I'd see at these industry events, is you'd go up and down the rows, and you could see that the big vendors had the pockets to keep out all these emerging vendors. And in my opinion, they were stymying the innovation that could occur within the channel. The small, scrappy startups had these great ideas and great platforms but they weren't getting the visibility.” “Where do we go from here? How do we build a recurring revenue business that provides value to both sides of the industry?” “That's what drives me: trying to solve these problems.” “As we looked at this massive marketplace and all the challenges, we thought, how do you break it down to the common denominator? How do you make it just stupid simple? If I can explain it to my daughter who's 14, then we're onto something.” “We couldn't have done this if we hadn't built strong personal brands. Yes, we had a great product…but really, people were buying us.”   “Yes we want to build a business, but we want to build a business that provides value. When you can be open and honest about that, I think that stuff comes through. And I think people can tell the difference between the snake oil person versus the person who genuinely wants to help create change.” “Creating a personal brand helps you sell more effectively.” Links mentioned in this episode: Channel Program: https://channelprogram.com/  Connect with Kevin Lancaster on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevinlancaster/

Selling With Social Sales Podcast

What if you knew the exact companies or individuals who are actively looking for the products or services you offer? Imagine how much more targeted your outbound marketing or prospecting could be.  That's the exact topic we dive into in this episode of the Modern Selling Podcast with my expert guest, who is leading the way in leveraging intent-based data to revolutionize the sales game. We welcome Mike Farrell, CEO of Green leads, to the show. Mike is a proven high-growth leader with over 30+ years in the IT Channel and BPO-service industries with both start-up and public companies. He has direct leadership experience with seven M&A events and has expertise in leading integration teams. With Green Leads, Mike leads business growth by focusing on strategic differentiation, customer acquisition, and providing a high-touch, high-quality client experience. Prior to Green Leads, Mike did sales consulting work, helping B2B companies optimize their digital marketing and build internal SDR teams. In addition, he served as the Chief Operating Officer of BAO and was the driving force behind their growth to become a category-leading, 200+ employee, $20M+ Outsourced SDR firm (BPO). Listen to this cutting-edge conversation as we explore intent-based data, how to leverage its predictive power and what SDRs can do today to use it to improve their prospecting results. Download the full episode now and jump in to hear what's really working to give sales organizations a competitive edge on the market. What really is intent data? Before we discussed specific intent-based data strategies, it was important to understand what intent data is. I wanted to hear Mike's perspective on the topic and what he sees is the growing trend in the area. He shares, “Intent-based data is a type of digital forensics. It helps you zone in on the companies and people who are actively looking for your offering on the web. We get all sorts of buyer intent signals that let us know who is searching our keywords, reading our content, etc. From there, we can study to help us perfect our prospecting and hone in on the best time to reach out to get buyers right when they're ready to buy.” At Vengreso, we use a host of intent-based data tools to help us pinpoint target accounts to focus on with our prospecting efforts. But, like I always say, “a fool with a tool is still a fool,” meaning if SDRs aren't equipped with the right training, they still may not maximize the full prospecting power of intent signals. Using intent-based data is still a relatively new strategy among B2B sellers, but when put to use in the right way, SDRs can get more prospects on the phone – faster. Mike explains the prospecting process they use at Green Leads that is getting their client's impressive results (it's not at all what I even thought was possible.) Join in the conversation and listen to the specific ways that Mike recommends sales leaders analyze and use intent data to determine how to reach out to increase prospecting response rates. How does that intent data impact conversion rates into meetings? In my experience, intent-based data can be helpful to help you identify target companies. However, most intent-based tools don't give you great insight into the individuals who are within those companies who control the buying decisions. So, the question ultimately becomes: How do you leverage intent-based data to actually increase your prospecting efforts? Mike had some important insights to share, “Finding companies who may be searching for what you offer is just one small part of the puzzle. Intent-based data gets us a powerful head start, so you're not prospecting from scratch. But, that's where you must have a robust sales process in place, once you've identified these target accounts. We teach our clients how to create specific content based on intent signals to draw those prospects in to book a call. In other words, we look for triggers or entry points and nurture the prospect from there.” It's also important for sales leaders and sales organizations to consider all of the data privacy regulations and how using intent-based data sources could play into this. Mike has a very unique perspective on this, so be sure to listen in right around the 24-minute mark. Although intent-based data is one part of the prospecting toolkit, at Vengreso, we teach the importance of taking an omnichannel approach to prospecting, using LinkedIn, email, text messages, and videos to get your prospect to lean in. So, once intent-based data is collected, the goal is to put your prospecting process into play – reaching your B2B buyer in as many channels as possible – always with highly personalized messages. Download this episode and get the inside scoop on the best intent-based tools to use and what important steps you should be taking to maximize various B2B buyer intent signals. What are the best intent-based data tools? There are a host of sales technologies that not only help SDRs improve their productivity, but also change how we can find and engage with B2B prospects. The key is to find tools that can easily be integrated into the prospecting process to increase prospect engagement (ideally across a host of channels). We created FlyMSG, a text expander to help sales teams type less, so they can prospect more. A tool like this could help SDRs take the intent-based data they receive from other platforms and start to reach out and engage with prospects. To get the full scope of how we should be getting the most out of intent-based signals, I wanted to get Mike's rundown of the must-try tools to win the intent signal game. I won't spill the beans here, so be sure to download and listen to the full episode to get his Top 3 Intent-Based Data Tools to use.

Why should IT solution providers and manufacturers invest in content specific for buyers or verticals, even if it's a core piece of content once a quarter? In the world of IT, solution providers have access to partner portals with great content. However, when the content is blanket and generic, is the content actually valuable to the customer? Do buyers "glaze over" it? In this episode, Greg Hammer, Director of Agency Services at IMS360 walks us through why a Field Marketer or a Solution provider would want to customize content. We also discuss positioning solutions and integrations with other tech (versus selling single technologies) and how to get sales team adoption. Show highlights: 02:30 - Greg Hammer, Director of Agency Services at IMS360. He has a background in coding/ marketing undergrad/ MBA, and now gets to be both technical and do content for the IT Channel. Greg even worked a job in Yellowpages sales early in his career and has seen the marketing industry transform. 06:00 - Definitions for the IT Channel. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), Resellers, and Distributors. 08:00 - Resellers do solution selling and sometimes partner portal content is too blanket. Manufacturers therefore are starting to enable resellers to start "customizing" content. 15:00 - How are we defining content? (e.g. a PowerPoint, versus video, versus email) Content for loyalty/ existing customers, versus new customers. 19:00 - Content formats vary, but it always needs to support sales cycle and buyers journey. Best practices working with an agency. 22:00 - Content can be a bad investment if it's not distributed. Marketing is both art and science. 25:00 - Ways to think about distribution. 29:00 - Account-Based Marketing and Persona Development for content. 33:00 - Example of how video content helped a reseller tell an in-depth story of a complex solution with one effective piece of content. They built awareness and used it for follow-up with the buyers after sales meetings. 37:00 - Parting words.

There are 4 main parts to a successful outbound campaign: List Optimization, Email, Phone, and Social Media. Sure, you could argue paid media might also fall into this as a channel, but let's stick to the basics. This episode 022 with Blake Johnston, CEO at OutboundView, is less focused on messaging and more focused on reducing friction within the tools and channels that help us have conversations. There is a category of technology called "Sales Acceleration" tools that the IT Channel needs to understand, because they can drastically transform your ability to connect with buyers to drive attendance to events, webinars, and other key marketing content for the purposes of educating buyers on complex IT solutions.   01:30 - Recap episode 017 with Blake Johnston on "Personalized Content Promotion", which is using Inside Sales resources to drive attendance to events, webinars, and to get engagement on content like white papers, recorded video, or demos. 02:00 - This episode is a partial case study, since Aaron and Blake did pilot for an IT manufacturer/ reseller in May 2019. What did we learn? In this episode we will put it into 4 parts: list building, email, phone, and social media. 04:00 - List building/ data cleaning fundamentals. Inside Sales team get ZoomInfo or DiscoverOrg lists. Even if the data is good, still need to do levels of validation. First, who are the specific contacts and job titles? Are some contacts a higher priority than others? Second, for events in a few weeks, how many people can you really engage? So second level validation, have people call all the way through the list to figure out direct line/ extension. THEN, third, put the sales team after everyone has been called through. 06:30 - Phone: Auto Dialing and tools that help have more conversations about your events and marketing. Let's say you only have one Sales person. First, that person could just manually dial, which takes forever and is fatiguing. Second, take a a little more automated approach by uploading leads to a tool that sits on top of a Salesforce leads or contacts report. As soon as it dials, it hangs up and moves to the next until you get a connect. Three, next level of dialers, people are calling down the list (sometimes 4-6 contacts simultaneously) and the second a contact picks up, you get the conversation in your ear. Some of these AI tools (like "ConnectandSell") take the stance, "...if you're going to be dialing, focus on conversations, not dialing itself". If event is good enough, the messaging resonates with buyers, then the more conversations you have the more you'll drive marketing engagement. 09:30 - Have Execs sit on ConnectandSell and have conversations (because they're not thrashing on the mechanics of dialing itself). How much would you pay for your VP to talk to X-job title in exact target market? 12:30 - Email: Outreach.io, a Sales Engagement technology for emailing 1:1. How is this different than Marketing Automation technologies? Making emails that look like they come from an actual person in a multi-touch sequence. When you look in your "sent" folder, you see them going out AND it's a consistent message so you can pull data off the efforts. 17:00 - How using videos paired with LinkedIn+Phone+Email can work together for Marketing to Drive attendance. Tools like Vidyard will integrate with these efforts. 21:00 - Don't over-architect process and workflows, but rather know your lists and audience and just start the outbound (making the calls, emails, and social touches). Learn, and then iterate on the first initiative. Closing remarks.

SaaS Marketplace Allows MSPs to Find Business Cloud Services to Resell    Today SaaSMAX Corp. announced the official commercial release of their new SaaSMAX marketplace platform. A few days ago I recorded a short podcast with SaaSMAX Founder and CEO Dina Moskowitz about this announcement and the Saas Marketplace in general.   Basically,  SaaSMAX  brings together channel resellers and app vendors, increasing revenues for both. It’s like a one-stop shop for partners who are looking for services they can sell (resell) to create recurring monthly revenue sources. The commercial launch kicked off with the unveiling of the new SaaS marketplace at CompTIA’s ChannelCon, with WiseSaaS search functionality that now permits site visitors to immediately start searching and discovering trusted business cloud software solutions that match their needs. Moreover, SaaSMAX provides Resellers with permission-only on-demand access to many SaaS Vendors’ reseller and affiliate programs and their related incentives. As you’ll hear in this audio, the SaaSMAX marketplace can be both a clearinghouse for finding vendors and a place for those vendors to communicate with you if  they don’t already have a partner portal. Joining SaaSMAX is free to Resellers. Resellers in SaaSMAX typically include Managed Service Providers, Value-Added Resellers, IT Solution Providers and IT consultants, but also extend beyond IT to include Marketing & Digital Media consultants, HR consultants, tax & financial advisers and other trusted advisers within various business domains. SaaS Vendors pay a flat monthly or annual licensing fee.   About SaaSMAX Corp. SaaSMAX Corp. is the ultimate Value-Add SaaS Marketplace for business cloud software vendors (“SaaS Vendors”) and resellers to create new revenues and partner opportunities. Resellers can now find and compare SaaS Apps AND manage deal registrations, affiliate tools and commissions, all in one place. SaaS Vendors now have the ultimate neutral venue to showcase their solutions to relevant B2B Resellers and Buyers, plus marketing support and tools to track sales conversions and commissions.   About Dina Moskowitz Dina Moskowitz is recognized by UBM Tech Channel CRN as one of the ‘Top Women in the Channel’, the recipient of the SMB 150 Award, the CRN Top 500 Solution Providers Award and San Diego IT Leadership Award, Dina Moskowitz has been leading and/or consulting to cloud-based, SaaS and other technology companies throughout her career. As founder and CEO of SaaSMAX Corp., the ultimate SaaS Marketplace for business cloud software vendors (“SaaS Vendors”), Dina conceived and built a market place allowing resellers to create new revenues and partner opportunities. Prior to SaaSMAX, Moskowitz was CEO and founder of Critical Digital Data Solutions Inc., which developed cloud-based data storage solutions. Dina has presented at various IT Channel events, including Channel Partners, SaaS University, CompTIA Breakaway, RetailNOW (RSPA), ChannelPartners and gSocial 2.0.   More info on SaasMax: Web Site: www.SaaSMAX.com Twitter: twitter.com/WiseSaaS    – Download the Interview with Dina Moskowitz here.
