This is particularly crucial in markets like Japan where user expectations are sophisticated.""The future of business interfaces lies in dynamic, context-aware AI systems that adapt to user needs and organizational contexts.""Design leadership in the AI age isn't about mastering tools - it's about understanding how to create meaningful human-AI collaboration frameworks."Connect with Fede here;

Yeah. We currently applying the new updated UI. It's going to take a bit of time since, on some pages the UI got change very much. Hence we have to change the current logic/s that we already applied on that pages. Right now, one of our developers currently creating a custom components. Windows 11 Windows 11 - New UI, new features, and new sounds. Tech folks seem to like the new look of Windows 11 with its new UI interface. NB - windows 10 21H2 will still be released at the end of this year, with Windows 10 being supported until October 2025. Bottom line, Don't Panic, if your machine is fine, leave it alone for now. New PC's coming out now will show that they are Windows 11 ready. Developer build of Windows 11 out this week, new PC's in spring will come with Windows 11, but full version downloadable not until early next year 2022. Keynote was 1AM June 25 in Australia. Initial problems with stream. Was not Audio Described. It was an OK keynote, not as inspiring as an Apple Keynote. Windows 11 will be a free upgrade to existing PC users. Minimum specs: 64 Bit CPU, 4GB RAM, 1GB clock speed, 2 cores, and 64GB storage, only slightly higher than Windows 10 requirements. Secure Boot and TPM V2.0 according to the Windows 11 page is required for existing PC's and new. Secure boot and TPM causing a lot of confusion for existing PC users, here is an article explaining TPM and secure boot. https://arstechnica.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Farstechnica.com%2Fgadgets%2F2021%2F06%2Fheres-what-youll-need-to-upgrade-to-windows-11%2F%3Futm_brand%3Darstechnica%26utm_source%3Dtwitter%26utm_social-type%3Downed%26utm_medium%3Dsocial No more 32 bit version of Windows, but 32 bit apps will be supported. Microsoft will require an Internet connection and a Microsoft account to setup Windows 11 Home. Microsoft kicks Cortana out of the boot setup process for Windows 11. Windows 11 has a Mac OS style Dock bringing the Start button and Apps to the middle of the screen. Better multi-tasking in Windows 11 with Apps and App Windows. Windows 11 adds Widgets to help serve content that matters to you (whether, news, sports scores etc). New Commission free Microsoft Store if developers use their own Ecommerce systems. Windows 11 to better support touch gestures with larger touch targets, and supports haptic feedback for pens on touch screens and tablets. Microsoft is bringing Android apps via the Amazon App Store to Windows 11 (very questionable whether these will work with assistive technology). Windows 11 built for gamers. In the Keynote it sounded like Microsoft Teams was part of the OS on the Task Bar now, but it appears its only Teams Chat, still have to download the full version of Teams if you want to use it. Voice Typing which is just an enhanced version of Voice Dictation will apparently punctuate correctly and allow basic edit voice commands such as “delete that”. Yet to see how well this works with Assistive Tech. Skype will still be around until Windows 10 I'm assuming goes away in 2025. But, not pre-installed. Internet Explorer finally not pre-installed on Windows 11. Windows 11 will move to a yearly feature update model. Windows 11 Landing Page Besides details about Windows 11, also including a link to download the PC Health app to see if your PC will be able to run Windows 11. On my surface Pro it wouldn't tell me as for some reason it decided it was a work PC and not a personal one. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11 Link to the Microsoft Keynote Event for Windows 11: https://mediastream.microsoft.com/events/2021/2106/HGS8/player/HGS8-3.html All up, a very messy presentation leaving folks exactly wondering if Windows 11 will run on their PC;s and exactly when it will be available. As of this show going to air, no news from the Microsoft Accessibility Team on Windows 11, just a generic statement that information will be coming. Amazon Echo Smart Speaker Line Up A bit of a switch of gears. I am really liking my Amazon Echo Dot 4 gen, and Amazon Echo Dot 4 Gen with Clock around the house. Nice neat small speakers with great sound. About the size of a cricket ball with easy to use tactile buttons. The Echo 4 Gen itself, which is the size of a Grape Fruit keeps the same stylish design as the Echo 4 Dot Gen, and again with excellent sound for filling a room. If you really want to fill a room with amazing sound, you'll find the Echo Studio works extremely well where it try's to fill the whole room/space with sound. Like a big cylinder much like the full sized HomePod, but no where near so much base noise. Again, excellent tactile buttons. Finally, the Echo Show 5, 8 and 10 screens work also well, particularly with the 10 moving to keep you in focus when on a video call. Still tactile buttons, and excellent sound. NB for people relying purely on the inbuilt screen reader, some elements of some skills may not work. For example, asking for a list of scrambled egg recipes, the inbuilt screen reader will not read this screen. For low vision folks, this issue may not be a problem.

There is no need to panic...yet. Procrastinators can freely ignore this post, for now. But if you are one of those people who hates scrambling at the last minute, then maybe this will interest you. Waves Microsoft likes to call the significant updates for Dynamics 365 "Waves". They have also announced that there will be two major Waves each year, with minor "ripples" ongoing. The thing about "waves", as you may recall from your last beach trip, is that you cannot stop them. Nor can you slow them, or divert them. If you are in the Dynamics 365 ocean, you cannot avoid them either. Make no mistake, the shit is going to hit your fan. There is also a strong will to get to a single version of Dynamics 365 in the market as soon as possible. This is a good thing for everyone, but "control" will be ceded to Microsoft. The concept of "Optional" is being deprecated. Of course you always have the option to go somewhere else, but Microsoft is actually one of the last players to get here, so you won't find any more "control" elsewhere either. The best way to not get knocked down by a huge wave... is to ride it. Waves Stack Up Big waves that hit the beach did not pop up 50 feet offshore, they actually started miles away. While you are riding the current wave in, the next big wave is already in motion, and they each build on the previous wave. Some small thing in one wave, becomes more significant in the next wave, and critical in the next wave. Good surfers pay attention to the small things in every wave...because they know. A Small Thing It seems like several waves ago that a small thing called "App Designer" quietly made its way onshore. The idea of creating an "App" out of Dynamics 365, and actually "limiting" its power, seemed contrary to how practitioners and users have worked with the product. It also seemed contradictory to the messaging from Microsoft about #freightrains of innovation. Why on earth would we want to "hide" any of it? For us, it was a Godsend, we built a business out of "hiding" stuff, with our previous version of RapidStart CRM, but many were left scratching their heads. Photocells If you have ever looked down at a big city from somewhere high around dusk, you can see a few lights start to come on early, as it grows darker you see more, and once it is completely dark, you can see quite a few... but not all. Many of us involved with Dynamics 365 have our own Photocells; for some of us the light comes on early, for others a little later, and sadly, for too many, the light does not come on at all. Not long ago, you were free to sit in the dark and no one would bother you. But now, you will get hit by a huge wave... in the dark... and probably drown. So while many of us are enjoying a moonlit evening on the beach sipping Piña Coladas watching people drown, I thought I would ruin the entertainment, and toss a small life ring out. I can handle the boos from the crowd. A Life Ring That App Designer thing I mentioned, has had a few more waves roll onto it to augment and clarify its true purpose. What we may have first thought was just a tool for creating granular, role-specific "versions" of Dynamics 365 for subsets of users, has morphed into one of the most critical concepts for Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement. It is also something you will not be able to ignore. A Simple Tick For those of you with your lights on, who have been using App Designer for some time now to create these role-specific apps, you may have noticed an option on the App Properties Tab. For "Client", you have the choice of "Web" or "Unified Interface". This snuck in on one of those waves. From now on, we will call it the "Future Button". If you have already built apps with the App Designer, ticking this option will transport you to the future of Dynamics 365. But, don't tick it yet. First let's take a peek at this future. Unification of an Interface If you have been listening, Microsoft has been ramping up the conversation about what they are calling the "Unified Interface", aka "Unified Client Interface", "UCI", "New UI" and "The other thing that is not the Web UI". While it may feel like this came out of nowhere, it has been steadily building with each wave. The Unified Interface is the UI of the future, and we have actually had it for a while now, behind the curtain. Back in this November post I wrote "For many of you who have seen, or started to deploy, Dynamics 365 V9. You may have noticed that the UI looks a little different. This would be the "Web UI". This is not the New UI, this is a bridge UI. Currently the New UI, is in the background, with this interim UI taking front stage. In the next release, these positions will change and the New UI will be front and center, with the interim UI in the background. By V10, the interim UI will be gone." Well the time has come for one of those predictions, as of now, new Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement deployments will utilize the Unified Interface by default. You can still opt for the now ancient WebUI, but why would you? Okay, there are a few reasons. Cart meet Horse Sooooo, the Unified Interface is not quite feature complete. There are some parts missing from the box. Are they critical? That depends on where you are coming from. If you have been using Dynamics 365 for a while, and already transitioned to V9 and got the new, now old, WebUI, you may have some challenges moving to the Unified Interface today, because of those missing parts. So if it is missing parts, why is it now the default UI for new customers? Because they won't know what they're missing. The good news is that there is another wave, already on the way here, it hits in October, and brings onshore most of the missing parts. Where's that damn Life Ring? So you build things for the Unified Interface, primarily in the App Designer. While still an option, Unified Interface soon will not be. How soon? I would guess, as soon as most customers have moved to the Unified Interface. When will that be? An excellent question, for which there is no answer yet. But you can be sure that the pressure will be ramping up. You might want to get ahead of it. If you are looking for more technical information to make this move, I highly recommend my fellow MVP Jukka's blog, he has way more patience writing the technical stuff than I do. I regularly punt the hard questions to Jukka... keeps my hands clean.

Welcome to episode 151 at the end of another traumatic week for LinkedIn and it’s new design! Following on from last weeks episode, I want to dig a bit deeper into what communication techniques work and what really don’t work on LinkedIn. But first….. Interesting Stuff I Saw This Week Workplace from Facebook is now live…..will it cause LinkedIn problems? Are LinkedIn understaffed and overworked?….or just low quality or ignorant? I suspect they are severely overworked and understaffed….ironic for a site that makes 60% of its revenue from recruitment! LinkedIn Salary - Did you know that premium users no longer have to add their salary to be able to use the salary feature. Salary can be found in the ‘More menu’ New Desktop Design Update Now that the majority of users have the new UI, the heat is really turning up on LinkedIn…members are really not happy! Someone has even created an online petition! New LinkedIn - Petition - Bring Back Tagging, Advanced Search and Rankings! Whilst I think it’s important to provide LinkedIn with feedback, I don’t think ranting helps (other than the person that wrote it might feel better!). The above petition does not really tackle the most important or realistic issues. Let’s be realistic, LinkedIn are not likely to bring back advanced search and tagging (which is not actually related to the new UI) has moved to Sales Navigator so they are not going to reverse that and rankings (a pointless feature anyway) are hardly worth raising a petition about! I’m not happy with the new design either but I am trying to be constructive and find realistic solutions. The biggest issue for me is quality - there are just far too many bugs or features that seem to have been accidentally forgotten! This is unforgivable and LinkedIn need to ‘up their game’ and sort these quickly. Here is my list of bugs, it is worth noting that this list was almost double the length in November, so things are slowly getting better. Bugs or ‘forgotten’ features Hovering over names (quoted in updates) does not open up a preview box. You can’t see who shared your article Notifications do not take you to the exact place in a thread Typing responses to comments is impossible to see Recommendation order can’t be changed - despite appearing though it can views of post’ on homepage is totally out of sync with the real number. Page load times are slow for many When someone comments on an image update you can’t see the image in your feed…making the comment often impossible to understand Have you found any more? Let me know if I have missed any. New UI fact: Did you know that emoji’s in name fields make the person impossible to find in a name search? Remove all emoji’s from your name field (they should never have been there in the first place!) Communication. The Mirror Effect How many times do we receive a message on LinkedIn or email that shows a clear lack of understand as to our interests and needs? How often do we see a message that is clearly a standardised format, sent to multiple recipients? What is going on here? People find it harder to communicate online because they have no signals to read, or at least they think they don’t…..so we get the mirror effect! The computer screen acts like a mirror and all we see is our own need and wants….net result is poor, ineffective communication. Let’s consider a better example; Mike Richards is specialist treasury recruiter. Mike noticed that following an article he wrote on LinkedIn (aimed at being of value to treasury professionals) he was getting a lot of new followers. He sifted through these followers and picked out those that were of particular interest. He found 22 interesting followers, all potential clients or candidates. He then sent them all a personalised invitation to connect which read as follows; I noticed you recently reviewed my profile maybe after reading one of my articles, you may also have seen this post about improving your LinkedIn profile if it helps you? http://www.treasuryrecruitment.com/10_linkedin_tips/ Feel free to connect if you want to? Regards Mike @ MR Recruitment All 22 accepted! This is no surprise because he acted on a clear signal that they were interested in him, rather than assuming they would be. In addition he provides value in the link with some LinkedIn tips and the very ‘non pushy’ line ‘feel free to connect if you want to’ Mike knows his market and the tone of his invitation is perfectly suited to Treasury professionals. This is what I mean by effective communication. Move beyond the mirror effect and communicate in a compassionate, person centred way. I would love to hear about more examples, both good and bad. Please drop me a line on LinkedIn or to mark@linkedinformed.com
