"Palisades Park" (from Wikipedia)Chuck Barris wrote a song about an amusement park and it was suggested he use the name of an amusement park as the title. One night he was in Manhattan when he looked toward the New Jersey Palisades Cliffs, on which the amusement park sat. That was when inspiration hit and the title was added. Years later the Palisades Amusement Park closed, on September 12, 1971.[2] A tribute to New Jersey's Palisades Amusement Park, it is an up-tempo rock and roll tune led by a distinctive organ part. The track also incorporates amusement park sound effects, including the sounds of screaming riders on the roller coasters, and the quoting of a slower version of "Entrance of the Gladiators", played on an organ imitating a hurdy-gurdy or calliope. In the song, the singer takes a walk after dark and discovers Palisades Park, where he meets and falls in love with a girl. Among the list of rides and attractions listed in the song are: Shoot the Chute, Rocket Ship, Roller Coaster, Loop the Loop, Merry Go Round, Tunnel of Love, and the Ferris Wheel.Chart performanceReleased by Swan Records as a B-side to "June, July and August," "Palisades Park" broke in when a Flint, Michigan radio DJ played it by mistake. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 on 23–30 June 1962,[3] On the Hot R&B Sides chart, the song went to #15.[4] "Palisades Park" was the biggest hit of Cannon's career.[5]And, check out Freddy Cannon's webpage:https://www.freddycannon.com/default.htm

Find out more about our Social Media Marketing Services here. About Red Root Marketing Founder and Owner Jessica Maarek Jessica founded Red Root Marketing 10 years ago in response to a need she observed in the local business communities of northern New Jersey. Small business owners needed help connecting to their customers, prospects and communities to expand their brand awareness and to get support. Jessica was able to develop a social media marketing approach, rooted deeply in creating community connections, that allowed her to bring awareness to these local businesses in an efficient and effective manner through grassroots and hyperlocal techniques.  Jessica grew up in Wisconsin, lived in France for 6 years and has been on the East Coast with her family for over 20 years. In Paris, Jessica was Quality Control Manager in a business language school and quickly learned how to market the courses being taught by over 70 teachers to C-Suite executives. Leveraging that skill on the local level in New Jersey, Jessica became event coordinator at The Fine Grind Coffee Bar where she orchestrated a full-scale guerrilla marketing campaign, which led her to connect with other local businesses as a Marketing and Social Media consultant.   #growwithredroot www.redrootmarketing.com Red Root Marketing (@redrootmarketing) • Instagram photos and videos Red Root Marketing | Facebook (17) Jessica (Social Media Marketing Guru) Maarek | LinkedIn Profile / Twitter   Fela Davis host “Members At Work” Podcast! A 16-unit building built on a formerly vacant lot could bring a few dozen new neighbors who want to ride on bike paths, swing on swing sets and flush toilets as they please. “Santa Monica collects Council authorized fees from developments to offset increased demands on public improvements, public services, and community amenities, including child care, transportation, parks, affordable housing, and water conservation,” according to information from city staff. “The City has also used these funds to meet the City's match requirement when seeking grant funding that further offsets costs for City projects.” The fees are gathered in line with a 1987 state law that outlines how such fees can be collected. On Tuesday, Santa Monica City Council will receive a report on the latest fees gathered for development in fiscal year 2021-22. In that year, which went from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, the City of Santa Monica collected a little more than $5 million in such fees. In that time, developers chipped in $676,866 toward the Childcare Linkage Fee, for commercial projects over 7,500 square feet and multi-family residential projects. The fund, which ended the fiscal year with a balance of $769,644, did not make any expenditures last year. The Transportation Impact Fee, which is “collected on eligible new development and changes in land use that result in increased trip generation,” is intended to fund transportation infrastructure improvements like crosswalks, traffic signals and bike facilities. Last year, this fund collected $1.7 million, which together with interest ended in a final fund balance of $11.4 million. The fund also expended $929,000 on various pedestrian and bicycle improvements like multimodal signal detection, the modification of the intersection of Ocean Avenue and the California Incline and other enhancements. Red Robinson's Legends
Freddy Cannon interview, 1985

Red Robinson's Legends

Happy birthday, Freddy Cannon! Freddy's music was a rock'n'roll radio staple in the late 50's and early 60's. His first hit "Tallahassee Lassie" was written by Freddy and producers Bob Crewe and Frank Slay. As Freddy tells me in the interview, the idea for the song came from his mother! Dick Clark (who co-owned Freddy's label Swan Records) suggested the record be edited to highlight the pounding bass drum, and Freddy became known as Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon for the thumping power of his music. "Tallahassee Lassie" hit the Top Ten in July 1959, and was awarded a gold disc by the RIAA. His next record, "Way Down Yonder In New Orleans", rocketed up the charts in January 1960. It was his biggest hit and also sold a million. One of Freddy's biggest hits came in June 1962 with "Palisades Park", written by Chuck Barris. The song was originally written for Dion and it was called "Amusement Park" but producers Crewe and Slay changed the title. Another Top 10 million seller! Freddy came to Vancouver in 1963 for a show with Gene Pitney, The Chiffons, and Bobby Vinton. He signed with Warner Brothers that same year and he recorded his last two hits "Abigail Beecher" in 1964 and "Action" (the theme song to the TV series "Where the Action Is", a spin-off of American Bandstand) in 1965. Both failed to crack the Top 10. After leaving WB in 1967, he continued to work with Dick Clark at his Bandstand reunion concerts and to tour all over the world. Did you know Freddy appeared on "Bandstand" more than 100 times? Freddy returned to Vancouver in 1985 for The Legends Of Rock'n'Roll preview show. That's where we recorded this interview. Freddy lives in sunny Oxnard, CA today and you can keep in touch at freddycannon.com

“That Guy Habibi” is a young creative, social media personality and entrepreneur that grew up in Palisades Park, NJ. He is always a class clown; he says he always “spread laughter and spread joy” to anyone who encounters him. He picked up on comedy two years ago and gathered his inspiration from memes he saw online that he had always thought of in his head before. He realized then that word spreads fast and then started making skits online that gained traction. “I wanted to manage myself when I realized managing someone else meant no one is ever going to be on the same page as you.” To decide to be a comedian isn't as easy as people may think. That Guy Habibi puts a lot of time and works behind his sketches. Incorporating his culture sometimes may confuse his family when he tries to explain his content and love for comedy to a traditional family. He says he always had ideas floating around, but it takes time to release them because sometimes he may not think it should be posted then. He owns a music studio in Dumont, NJ, and a barbershop and as his social media presence became more prominent, more of his clients started seeing his content. He gets much of his comedy sense from his dad, who he thinks is also really funny. “You want to own your own stuff; you sleep 20% of your life, but what are you doing with the other 80% of your life?” he says when talking about how much work he puts into his multiple endeavors. A born leader, he always thought ahead of everyone else and wanted to inspire others to become their own leaders, especially other artists and comedians. Since he was surrounded by people who helped him who were also born leaders like some of Playboi Carti's producers and people who have managed comedian Druski, he wants to help others the same. His advice, he says, “Think outside the box, what is going to throw people off guard.” When asked about the order of his successes he wants to see, he says his goals would be to become prominent in the comedy world, then music and acting, then fashion, Youtube, and then some freelance. Those only scratch the surface of the many important things he can conquer! The possibilities are endless. You can catch him on many different platforms, mainly on Instagram as @thatguyhabibi . . . . . #funnyvideo #followforfollowback #comedycentral #likes #viralvideos #explore #video #lmao #india #likeforlikes #vines #comedians #tundeednut #standupcomedy #comment #comedyposts #followback #bollywood #comedyskit #actor #trolls #tiktokindia #hilarious #tamil #funnymeme #comedyvine #comedyindia #youtubechannel #laughter #entertainment #babasucia #babasuciapodcast #suciogang #podcastmove #babasucia #babasuciapodcast #suciogang #podcastmovement #podcastaddict #producer #podcasts #music #podcast

Education is the Industry we are focusing on this month in our monthly Roundtable series. Join a panel of members from the Fort Lee Regional Chamber currently doing business in this industry, for an in-depth discussion of the challenges and opportunities created by Covid and what these educators are doing to move forward successfully. The conversation this month will cover these issues:  In Education, you had to be concerned about the teachers and the students – two different groups with different needs and concerns.  Please share with us the specific challenges you experienced, and how you dealt with them.  For those of you that got involved with virtual learning, is that something you will consider using post-covid for some classes – since you can reach a world-wide audience that way? For small businesses there have been state and federal programs that were developed to help financially.  Did teachers get paid when the schools were closed? How did you pay for all the changes that had to be made to keep everyone distanced and safe and in some cases, virtual?  Have these changes drained financial resources? What is your strategy for the new school semesters starting after the summer?  Are they different than 2020?  Are they similar to pre-Covid?  Are teachers required to be vaccinated? What would you like to say to parents in the audience, about precautions that have and will be taken?  Do you feel good about the way your school(s) handled this situation?  Hindsight is always 20/20.  Looking back and knowing what you know now, what, if anything would you have done differently?  We look forward to an event in which attendees come away with a clearer picture of where we've been, where we're going and how we will get there – together, successfully and profitably.   Listen to past Members At Work Podcasts on Apple Podcast, Spotify and iHeart Radio! Phil Goldfeder chats with us about Cross River Bank in the heart of Fort Lee! A fast-growing financial services organization that merges the established expertise and traditional services of a bank with the forward-thinking offerings of a technology company. Since its founding in 2008, Cross River has developed strong strategic partnerships with leading technology companies, enabling them to focus on their own growth without hindering innovation, while maintaining a strong focus on compliance. Cross River provides a highly-secure banking platform and comprehensive suite of products encompassing lending, payments and risk management, that enables its partners to deliver responsible financial solutions to empower consumers anytime, anywhere.   During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cross River was one of the first banks in the country offering loans via the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to every small business, without requiring preexisting banking relationships. As a trusted community bank and preferred SBA lender, Cross River's innovative approach made it one of the top 15 lenders in the country and amongst the top 5 in loan volume, originating close to $6 billion in loans to more than 160,000 American small businesses. In addition to building its own comprehensive lending platform, Cross River partnered with over 30 leading technology companies to allow thousands of additional businesses to apply for and receive funding safely and efficiently. With an average loan size of less than $36,000, the absolute lowest among the nation's leading lenders, Cross River was able to support nearly 800,000 employees and their families.   https://www.crossriver.com/ https://www.crossriversba.com/ https://www.crossriver.com/covid-19-community-affairs   Listen to past Members At Work Podcasts on Apple Podcast, Spotify and iHeart Radio! “What’s the alternative, I quit? … I can’t let them break me. No way.” - Kara Goucher World Championship (now) silver medal winner and 2x Olympic distance runner Kara Goucher and Danielle discuss ethics at the highest level of sport. Against the background of ESPN’s newest 30 for 30: “Lance”, Kara shares her experience at the now infamous Nike Oregon Project. She defines, for the listening audience, popular doping practices (EPO, AndroGel, IV treatments) and their effects on the body and individual competition. She describes the institutional grooming process that athletes (including herself) are subjected to, and the David and Goliath lawsuit she is still fighting, against her former Nike Oregon Project head coach and father figure Alberto Salazaar. Kara exposes a dark side of Nike: these testosterone experiments were performed on the Nike campus, in their labs, and CEO Mark Parker know about them. For the baseball fan, we extrapolated her experiences in running to determine the psychology behind and monetary/popularity windfall following the HR chase between dirty Mark McGuire and dirty Sammy Sosa. Didn’t the dirty Nike Oregon Project achieve that same goal for USA running? What is the difference between 'banned' and 'unethical'? Kara also opens up about how her former teammate and brother-in-law secretly developed a Nike shoe that single-handedly kept her from competing in her 3rd Olympic Games. We'll also tackle: 2020 NYC Marathon: will it still happen? What changes, from a runner’s perspective would she like to see implemented? What about a virtual marathon? Kara's tips for the avid runner... and the "Quarantine Runner", like myself The ramifications she felt (and still feels) about bringing the situation to light... and how she still feels 'unsafe' during a race. How, for her, a 3rd place finish turned into a silver medal after 12 years following a positive banned substance test A solution: who, ultimately, is in control of stopping the unethical behavior and doping: the corporations, the athletes, a governing body? Listener questions from: Erin in Palisades Park, NJ: What is your favorite workout? Vanessa, a track and field coach from Florida: Kara's mentorship of younger women in the sport, in particular- Mary Cain

Episode 355: Jeffrey Alan Lash – The CIA Alien Cult Leader Con Man

Sofa King Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 4, 2019 77:09

On this episode of the world famous Sofa King Podcast, we look at the case of a most mysterious man named Jeffrey Alan Lash. His case may be unknown to many, but it sensationalized the news media of Los Angeles in 2015. In July of that year, Jeffrey Alan Lash was found dead in his SUV near his home in Palisades Park. He was packed in dry ice and wrapped in blankets. He was left there, so his super-elite covert team could recover his body. When the LAPD got there, they discovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, 1200 firearms, a bullet proof car, and six tons of ammunition. Quite simply, the dead Jeffrey Alan Lash was a spy. Or a conman. Or a cult leader. Or an alien hybrid. You listen, you decide. Lash was born in Westchester and had a normal upbringing by all accounts. He dropped out of UCLA, and in the late 1980s, he started a 20 year romance with a woman named Michelle Lyons. The only problem was, when she bought a condo, he secured a room that she could never enter. And he gave her a false name. And he told her he was a spy. She said he was “the one” and stayed with him, even as he amassed an arsenal. Eventually, he told her a big operation was happening, and he had to move in with a another woman. And so it went. Eventually, Jeffrey Alan Lash moved in with Catherine Nebron (and her husband?), and befriended Nebron’s personal assistant Dawn Marie VadBunker. After only one meeting with Lash, Dawn Marie started eating raw meat and told her mother that Lash was an alien hybrid bent on saving the world. Like you do. So after years of living under the alias Bob Smith, amassing weapons and cash, and being paranoid, Lash finally succumbed to some sort of cancer. As per his instructions, they packed his body on ice, so his mercenary group could dispose of it, and VadBunker and Nebron bugged out to Oregon for a time. But, no group ever took his body, so there it rotted until the LAPD was tipped off. So, how did this Oregon move lead to a missing person’s report? Where did VadBunker end up, and how does it connect to a mystical healer code-named Tara? Why did VadBunker cut off all ties to her mother and daughters? Why did Jeffrey Alan Lash eat a diet of raw grass fed meat? How did nobody manage to get arrested by the LAPD when they found this two week old corpse rotting in a car? Was this guy a tinker, a tailor, a soldier, a spy? A conman, a grifter, a cultist, a reptoid? Listen, laugh, learn. Tune in Sunday night to KNUS AM 710 from 5 to 8 pm for Backbone Radio. Matt Dunn and Krista Kafer will hit the airwaves with fresh commentary on all things political and cultural. Many in the Republican Party are saying it's time to embrace amnesty for illegal immigrants. They insist that the only way to draw Hispanic voters to the GOP is to grant the11 million resident illegal immigrants citizenship and take this sticky issue off the table for good. Critics point out that the last amnesty program didn't settle the matter and a new amnesty push will just leave the door open for another. Could there be another way to solve the immigration conundrum while respecting the rule of law and national borders? Indeed there is and Helen Krieble, founder and president of the Vernon K. Krieble Foundation and author of the Red Card Solution will tell us all about it. We'll also talk with Ben DeGrow of the Independence Institute about how teachers can opt out of paying dues for union political causes. The deadline is December 15 for teachers to apply for a refund of around $63. That'll buy a few toys for under the Christmas tree and some peace of mind knowing that you aren't funding causes and candidates you don't support. Speaking of Christmas trees and holiday cheer, some not-so-merry Grinches are doing their small hearted best to stifle celebrations across the fruited plain. In Rhode Island, Governor Lincoln Chaffee stands by his renaming the State House spruce as the Holiday Tree and made sure that no flash mob of carolers would turn up to sing “O Christmas Tree” like they did last year. On the other coast, a less-than-festive group of atheists successfully ended a sixty year old nativity display in Palisades Park. Is it a lack of creativity in coming up with their own holidays or just mean spiritedness that makes some atheists just want to destroy other's beloved traditions? We'll also talk about leadership change at the Heritage Foundation, the high life in Washington which, along with our very own state, legalized marijuana, and how to turn your pet into a diamond. Got opinions? Thoughts? Call into the program at 303-696-1971. Don't miss the hard-hitting commentary and groovy bumper music.
