Führt eine Ausweitung des biologischen Landbaues zu erheblich negativeren Umweltwirkungen im Ausland und ist er daher ökologisch, ökonomisch und sozial nicht nachhaltig? Der Wissenschaftler Adrian Müller vom FiBL Schweiz nimmt dazu Stellung. Der Berliner Agrarökonom Prof. Harald von Witzke wirft der EU vor, bei der Bewertung der Biolandwirtschaft falsch zu rechnen, damit sie einen positiven Klimanutzen hat. Er argumentiert, dass eine Ausweitung des biologischen Landbaus in der EU mehr Importe verursache, da der Biolandbau zu geringe Erträge erzielt. Dies führe zu erheblich negativeren Umweltwirkungen im Ausland und könne daher ökologisch, ökonomisch und sozial nicht nachhaltig sein. Verbraucher*innen, Landwirt*innen, Steuerzahlende und auch die Medien würden durch die politische Mär von den vermeintlich positiven Umweltauswirkungen des weniger produktiven Biolandbaus in die Irre geführt werden.Diese pauschale und einseitige Kritik am biologischen Landbau ist nach Erachten der FiBL Wissenschaftler Adrian Müller, Jürn Sanders und Andreas Gattinger weder sachlich richtig noch hilft sie, die ökologischen Herausforderungen zu bewältigen. September haben mehrere Gruppen aus der Schweizer Klimabewegung den Bundesplatz im Bern (den Platz vor dem Bundeshaus, dem Schweizer Parlament) unerlaubterweise mit einem “Klimacamp” besetzt. Die Aktion trug den Namen “Rise up for Change”. Das war ein Spektakel, über das die Medien intensiv berichtet haben. Indico is a platform built at CERN to handle their efforts to organize events such as the Computing in High Energy Physics (CHEP) conference, and now it has grown to manage booking of meeting rooms. In this episode Adrian Mönnich, core developer on the Indico project, explains how it is architected to facilitate this use case, how it has evolved since its first incarnation two decades ago, and what he has learned while working on it. The Indico platform is definitely a feature rich and mature platform that is worth considering if you are responsible for organizing a conference or need a room booking system for your office.
