4/29/26 - The Grave Threat Nobody is Talking About

    Mark Levin Podcast

On Wednesday's Mark Levin Show, the global and especially American situation is very dark, grave, and worsening daily. Europe has fallen to a jihadi Islamist crusade while unprecedented antisemitism targets Jews walking the streets in the U.S. while every synagogue spends fortunes on security. The Democrat Party no longer offers support to Jews, as it has been taken over and devoured by Islamists and Marxists who are welcome there. Also, the Supreme Court issued a major decision upholding that the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was never intended to allow creation of congressional districts based on race; it aimed instead to end race-based segregation in the South. The ruling reaffirms that districts cannot be drawn with racial intent to discriminate or guarantee outcomes, requiring actual evidence of intent to block minorities' opportunity to elect candidates of their choice rather than mere allegations. Democrats have misused the Act to advance their party by creating race-conscious districts, treating certain racial groups as reliable voters and fearing losses in majority-white areas, contrary to the Act's original colorblind aim. Later, Rep Byron Donalds calls in and reports that Gov Ron DeSantis submitted a new congressional map, which the legislature passed and the governor plans to sign. This is a strong reflection of the Florida's political framework. He also explains that the Democrat Party are a bunch of limousine liberals. They love everything being handed to them, but they do not have an appreciation for the market system and for free enterprise. Allie sits down with Camille Varone, senior counsel at the Department of Justice, to discuss the explosive new revelations from a report by the DOJ Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias. The report exposes how the Biden administration systematically targeted Christians through an overbroad reading of Bostock, weaponization of the FACE Act against pro-lifers, FBI scrutiny of traditional Catholics, and pressure on schools, medical professionals, and faith-based organizations to conform to progressive gender ideology or lose funding. From career bureaucrats pushing “gender-affirming care” with minimal religious exemptions to coordination with abortion NGOs to prosecute pro-life advocates, this conversation reveals deep ideological capture within the federal bureaucracy — and what it means for religious liberty moving forward. Allie and Camille also address the report's rare acknowledgment of Christian thought's foundational role in American history, including a direct citation of Allie's book “You Are Not Enough (and That's Okay).” Task Force Report on Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias and Restoring Religious Liberty: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/task-force-publishes-report-eradicating-anti-christian-bias-and-restoring-religious-liberty Share the Arrows 2026 is on October 10 in Dallas, Texas! Passenger Pigeons Once Numbered in the Billions and Blotted Out the Skies for Days. They Went Extinct in 30 Years.

In America’s first hundred years, the animal you were most likely to see was a passenger pigeon. And you saw a lot of them. Flocks were so numerous they literally blotted out the sun for days and their combined weight snapped the branches of entire forests where they roosted. Yet by 1914, the last specimen, a female named Martha, died at the Cincinnati Zoo, marking the complete extinction of what had been North America's most abundant bird numbering in the billions just decades earlier. Early Americans assumed the nation's bird populations were infinite, so market hunters fashioned homemade cannons to blast sleeping ducks by the dozens, "pigeoneers" shipped passenger pigeons by the trainload to city restaurants, and feather hunters shot rare birds worth more than their weight in gold so Gilded Age women could wear plumes in their hats. What followed was an unlikely coalition of bird-lovers like Roosevelt, gunmakers, business titans, and brave game wardens who transformed American conservation. They couldn’t save the passenger pigeon, but they saved other species from extinction, like the Canada Goose and the trumpeter swan. Today's guest is James H. McCommons, author of The Feather Wars: And the Great Crusade to Save America's Birds. We discuss how Roosevelt used executive powers to create the first federal bird refuge at Pelican Island in 1903, why the revolutionary 1918 Migratory Bird Treaty Act made nearly all wild birds wards of the federal government while inadvertently establishing that federal law supersedes state law, and how conservation success stories including wild turkeys, wood ducks, trumpeter swans, and bald eagles were all brought back from extinction's brink. McCommons also warns that America faces a new crisis reminiscent of the Gilded Age. Since 1970, one in four birds (about 3 billion) in North America have been lost, with backyard species like sparrows, blackbirds, warblers, and finches disappearing as indicator species foreshadowing greater environmental collapse.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

There's a quiet shift happening in real estate that most consumers are not watching closely enough. While the headlines focus on lawsuits, commissions, and industry noise, the deeper issue is what happens when MLS data starts getting held back or fragmented. In this episode, Leigh breaks down why the MLS is not just a listing tool. It is part of the foundation that helps appraisers determine value, banks make lending decisions, and buyers and sellers trust the market. If that data weakens, the impact could reach far beyond real estate agents.   Key takeaways to listen for Why the MLS matters for more than listing exposure How withheld listing data can affect pricing and market transparency The connection between appraisers, lending confidence, and mortgage approvals Why sellers may feel the impact even more than buyers What fragmented housing data could mean for affordability and homeownership   About Leigh Brown Leigh Brown is a keynote speaker, broker, author, and leadership voice helping audiences understand what is really happening in real estate, business, and American property ownership. Rex Heuermann told the therapist working with his family that the dark thoughts started in high school. He knew they weren't healthy. He couldn't name what they were. But he knew something inside him wasn't right. He said he started reading books about death — one in particular called Death Scenes, filled with images of mutilated bodies, severed limbs, pure carnage. That's what was feeding his mind during the years when most teenagers are figuring out who they want to be. For Rex, sex and violence were merging into something that would eventually become unstoppable. He said one thought fed another fed another, deeper and deeper, until it consumed him. He said he couldn't put the brakes on it. He said his outlet was to kill. The Peacock documentary gave the world something no courtroom or police interrogation ever would have produced — extended therapy sessions with one of the most methodical serial killers in American history. Rex described a four-day kill cycle. He timed his body dumps with a stopwatch. He built his kill room in the bedroom where he grew up. And John Douglas — the FBI profiler who wrote Mindhunter, a book Rex himself referenced in his planning document — called him a malignant narcissistic sadistic psychopath and said he believes there are more victims. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins me to dissect what the documentary revealed about Rex Heuermann's psychological development — from the adolescent origins of his violent fantasies to the question Douglas raised that hangs over this entire case: did Rex really stop at eight?Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? For most of the past few decades, North Korea was considered a top challenge for American foreign policy. In the past few years, however, it has mostly receded from attention—not because the U.S. approach to the problem succeeded but because it so completely failed. U.S. policy insisted that North Korea could never become a nuclear power, yet North Korea's program has accelerated year by year, threatening not just American allies, but now the American homeland. U.S. policy aimed to isolate the Kim family's totalitarian regime, yet the North Korean leadership has managed to skillfully navigate the new geopolitics, solidifying its rule and bolstering ties with both China and Russia. The commitment to pursuing nuclear weapons no matter the cost has looked especially savvy in the wake of U.S. attacks on Iran. Victor Cha has long been one of the foremost practitioners and analysts of U.S. policy toward North Korea. In a new essay for Foreign Affairs, he argues that Washington must reckon with this long record of failure and craft a new strategy for managing the North Korea problem, one that gives up for now on denuclearization and tries to achieve what Cha calls a cold peace.  Editor Dan Kurtz-Phelan spoke to Cha on Monday, April 27, about the misjudgments at the heart of U.S. policy; about the nature of the North Korean threat today; and about what a new approach would mean for the United States, for the Korean peninsula, and for Asia more broadly in the years ahead. In this thought-provoking episode, Dr. Leslie Baynes explores the complex relationship between C.S. Lewis and the Bible. While Lewis is widely celebrated for his theological insight and literary brilliance, Baynes' research uncovers a more nuanced reality—one where Lewis occasionally misquotes scripture, relies heavily on memory, and even attributes statements to Jesus that do not appear in the Gospels. Drawing from her book Between Interpretation and Imagination: C.S. Lewis and the Bible, Baynes examines both Lewis's profound contributions and his interpretive missteps, including his famous “liar, lunatic, or Lord” argument.  The episode also tackles the cultural phenomenon of “Saint Lewis,” particularly among American evangelicals, and the resistance to critically evaluating his work. Yet, rather than dismissing Lewis, Baynes advocates for a balanced perspective—appreciating his literary and spiritual impact while engaging his ideas with scholarly rigor. This episode is essential listening for anyone interested in biblical interpretation, theology, and the enduring influence of one of Christianity's most beloved thinkers. On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, the AP article reporting James Comey's second indictment was grotesque propaganda - an opinion piece that leads with accusations of vindictive prosecution by the Trump administration's Justice Department. The piece notes Comey's history feuding with Trump and his role in the Russia investigation but these details are irrelevant to the charge. Comey's explanation for the 8647 seashells is unbelievable—especially for a former FBI director. Also, Iran is overflowing with oil and desperately seeking storage in quarries, old ships, and anywhere possible because President Trump has effectively shut down the Strait of Hormuz—taking it over in response to Iran's actions—preventing them from exporting oil. They continue pumping but have nowhere to store it; shutting down the wells risks destroying or rendering many unworkable.  The U.S. should give Iran two options – unconditional surrender or we finish Iran off. Later, the Democrat Party has a long history of violence and embracing humanity's worst traits. Democrats target Trump because he stands between them and the people, loves America and its founding. Their inflammatory language, labeling Trump as Hitler or a dictator, is designed to incite violence against ICE, police, and the president through mobs funded by billionaires and networks. Americans see through this. Afterward, Bruce Blakeman calls in to discuss his run for Governor of NY against Kathy Hochul. Common-sense Democrats are supporting him because the Democratic Party has shifted to far-left progressive woke policies that are un-American, denigrate the country, and have abandoned traditional American values once shared by figures like Moynihan and Scoop Jackson. They discuss the specialties of the barren Depression Era, the food-related propaganda and rationing of the wartime years, the meteoric rise of post-war disposability, the premade mixes and “exotic” dishes of midcentury housewives, and the special tastes of Soviet Cold War diplomacy. Throughout the episode, they discuss the messages these eras transmitted to the women in charge of the kitchen and draw parallels to our new era of trad wife cooking and carnivore dieting. Digressions include the unique features of Star Trek aliens, why cottage cheese is the Cher of foods, and how ironing sheets can be a potent tool for procrastination.More Sarah Archer:https://www.sarah-archer.com/Design for Dreaming 1956 appliance fantasy film: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/design-for-dreaming-1956/Midcentury Menu exhibition at the MFAH: https://www.mfah.org/art/exhibitions/midcentury-menu-dining-in-the-atomic-ageMeals with a Foreign Flair: https://archive.org/details/mealswithforeign00desmEdited + Produced by Miranda Zickler:http://linktr.ee/mirandatheswampmonsterMore You're Wrong About:Bonus Episodes on PatreonBuy cute merchSupport the show

More To The Story: When President Donald Trump returned to office last year, he promised to largely steer America clear of foreign entanglements. But over the last year, his administration has captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, threatened to take over Greenland, openly talked about making Canada the 51st state, and most recently attacked Iran. In some ways, it might appear that Trump is trying to revive the American empire. Not so, says Daniel Immerwahr, a Northwestern University history professor and author of How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States. What Trump is really doing, he says, is undermining the international system itself. On this week's More To The Story, Immerwahr sits down with host Al Letson to examine Trump's attack on Iran, why Trump is ripping apart the post-World War II international order, and the long-term consequences of the president's impulsive foreign policy.Producer: Josh Sanburn | Editor: Kara McGuirk-Allison | Theme music: Fernando Arruda and Jim Briggs | Copy editor: Nikki Frick | Digital producer: Artis Curiskis | Deputy executive producer: Taki Telonidis | Executive producer: Brett Myers | Executive editor: James West | Host: Al LetsonListen: Al Gore: Trump Administration Is the Most Corrupt in History (More To The Story)Read: Trump's New Nuclear Nightmare in Iran (Mother Jones)Read: How to Hide an Empire: A History of the Greater United States (Picador) Donate today at Revealnews.org/more Subscribe to our weekly newsletter at Revealnews.org/weekly Follow us on Instagram and Bluesky Learn about your ad choices: dovetail.prx.org/ad-choices

In the spring of 1936, the producer of King Kong hauled a film crew to the desert of Arizona to shoot a sweeping romantic epic. But the heat was so punishing that it melted film stock, caused the lead actress to pass out, and killed the production's mascot – a baby camel.  It was the beginning of a heat wave that parked itself over America for months, quickly becoming one of the deadliest natural disasters in our country's history. It blew up sidewalks, cooked onions in the ground,  claimed at least 12,000 lives, and turned the United States into a literal frying pan.  Host Nate Hegyi talks with Geoff Williams, author of the forthcoming book The Summer of Death, about a ‘heat horror show' that transformed American life 90 years ago, and what lessons it gives us on how to survive a hotter world today.   Featuring Geoff Williams Produced by Nate Hegyi. Many conservatives see American politics as a clash of ideologies in the marketplace of ideas. But there are other forces sitting under the surface that shape our elections. Large waves of immigration create foreign diasporas that seek to use their shared political power to secure advantages for their own communities, or in some cases to benefit the country they came from. Send us Fan MailEpisode 6 of our mini season "The Great Unraveling" is finally here. Over the past five episodes, we've traced how American political discourse became weaponized, how both parties learned to delegitimize elections, how political violence gets selectively remembered, how two incompatible constitutional orders came to govern American life, and how radical ideas captured elite institutions. Today we're exploring something deeper: how politics became America's new religion.            The German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche declared “God is dead” in 1882, arguing that traditional religious belief was collapsing under the weight of scientific rationalism and modern skepticism. But Nietzsche wasn't celebrating—he was warning. He understood that humans need transcendent meaning and moral frameworks to organize their lives. If traditional faith died, something else would have to replace it.            That something else, in 21st century America, turned out to be politics. Not politics as a practical method for organizing society and resolving disputes, but politics as a comprehensive belief system that provides meaning, community, moral certainty, and spiritual fulfillment. Americans didn't stop being religious—they just found new gods to worship and new churches to attend.Support the show

Jim Shannon and Todd Ritter are back at the Bourbon Road bar for a dedicated rye whiskey night, working through five distinct expressions that showcase the breadth and character of American rye. From honey-finished blends to farm-strength single-grain pours, the lineup spans distilleries across Nevada, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, and Atlanta, giving listeners a wide-angle view of what rye whiskey looks like in 2025 and beyond. On the Tasting Mat:** - Short Barrel After Swarm 2: A blend of MGP and Green River 95/5 rye finished in Kelvin Cooperage barrels previously soaked with Oregon meadow foam honey for approximately 10–11 months, then aged an additional 11–12 months in those honey-conditioned staves. Bottled at 108.6 proof and retailing around $115, this six-plus-year expression opens with unmistakable honey on the nose alongside coconut and vanilla, leading to a syrupy, well-balanced palate of rye muffin, honey butter, and toasted pine nuts, with a finish that drifts toward Mexican chocolate and dried chili. *(00:01:19)* - New Riff 10 Year Malted Rye: A special limited 375ml release from New Riff Distilling in Newport, Kentucky, drawn from a two- to three-barrel blend of 100% malted rye aged a minimum of ten years and bottled at 118.8 proof (approximately $46 for the 375ml). The nose offers earthy, chalky minerality with underlying fruit and aromatic spice. On the palate it shows a softer, grain-forward character with dry dark chocolate, mint, and a coniferous, living-forest quality on the finish. *(00:09:23)* - Frey Ranch Farm Strength Uncut Rye: A 100% Canadian winter rye expression from Frey Ranch in Northern Nevada, distilled and aged on the same 2,500-acre farm where the grain is grown, aged a minimum of six years and bottled at cask strength, 124.52 proof. Available exclusively through the distillery's online shop at $79.99, this pour delivers an exceptional grain-forward nose with cream sweetness, fresh strawberry, and an almost field-fresh rye character. The palate is smooth and deceptively easy-drinking for the proof, with candy cinnamon and a long, clean finish that highlights the integrity of the single-farm grain. *(00:16:01)* - Pursuit United Triple Mash Rye: Blended and bottled by Pursuit United in Louisville, Kentucky, this expression combines three distinct mash bills — Sagamore Spirits high-corn rye (52% rye / 43% corn / 5% malted barley), Sagamore Spirits 95/5 rye, and Bardstown, Kentucky 95/5 rye — with barrels ranging roughly four to eight years old, all bottled at barrel proof of 124.8 and retailing for $79.99. The nose is warm and holiday-spiced with dark fruit, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a hint of citrus. The palate is buttery and velvety with blueberry, lemon sorbet, and a trefoil-cookie sweetness, finishing long and satisfying. *(00:25:53)* - Archer Eland Cashmere Rye: A collaboration between founder Wendy Pevich (formerly of Penelope Bourbon) and Middle West Spirits in Columbus, Ohio, this expression uses 100% Ohio-grown rye — a combination of standard and malted rye — aged approximately seven years and bottled at 126 proof, retailing for $84.99. The nose leads with dried apricot, peach, and a malt-forward fruitiness. On the palate it balances earthiness, ripe fruit, and a pronounced spicy mint-pepper character, with a medium-length finish carrying peach soda and fresh mint. *(00:32:38)* Rye whiskey night at the Bourbon Road bar proved once again that the category rewards exploration. Whether you gravitate toward the softer, sweetened side of the spectrum or prefer high-proof grain-forward expressions straight from the farm, this lineup offered something for every rye enthusiast. All five bottles are available now or through their respective distillery channels, and every one of them makes a compelling case for keeping a rye or two on your shelf year-round. By around 2044, the U.S. will become a majority-minority nation. This seismic demographic shift has triggered a cultural earthquake, provoking a radical spike in hate crimes. In times of massive disruption and economic stress, what Carl Jung called the “shadow side of the psyche” comes into play: the pronounced psychological tendency in the collective psyche is to project these shadow qualities with unusual potency onto whomever people see as “the other.” But is there also a deeper story? Perhaps the question to ask is: Who benefits? In this episode, we hear from Heather McGhee of Demos. She sees a direct connection between today's extreme inequality and this peak moment of racial panic and white anxiety. And suggests how we might find ways to come together and to believe in a better future. This is an episode of the Bioneers: Revolution from the Heart of Nature series.
