Send us a textDrag Story Hour is a global movement that brings the magic of storytelling, the art of drag, and the power of inclusion to libraries, schools, and community spaces, creating environments where kids can celebrate diversity, explore their imaginations, and embrace the beauty of self-expression. This week In the Den, Sara and Drag Story Hour's inaugural executive director Jonathon Hamilt discuss everything from the joy drag story  hour brings to children and families to addressing the challenges it faces to the ways in which drag story hours are changing the narrative about drag and LGBTQ+ representation in ways that are educational, empowering, and downright fun.Special Guest: Jonathan HamiltJonathan Hamilt (he/him) is the Executive Director of Drag Story Hour and co-founder of the NYC Chapter in 2016. Hamilt is the first Executive Director of the organization, taking it from a loose string of a few state's events to a national 501 c 3 with an international chapter network. He has spoken at Harvard, Yale, the Medical Library Association, the American Library Association, Public Library Association, School Library Journal, and SXSWEDU Conference. His activism spreads outside the work with Drag Story as his Drag persona "Ona Louise" hosts drag charity bingos across NYC. Ona Louise's personal goal is healing her inner child by offering affirming and accepting programming for kids which teaches them that it's more than okay to be different and they are loved no matter what!Links from the Show:Drag Story Hour's website: https://www.dragstoryhour.org/ Join Mama Dragons here: www.mamadragons.orgMama Dragons on FB: https://www.facebook.com/mamadragons Mama Dragons on IG: https://www.instagram.com/themamadragons/ In the Den is made possible by generous donors like you. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature. For it is a condition of such a trip that you entrust yourself, stripped of your worldly goods, to nature. Canoe and paddle, blanket and knife, salt pork and flour, fishing rod and rifle; that is about the extent of your wealth. To remove all the useless material baggage from a man's heritage is, at the same time, to free his mind from petty preoccupations, calculations, and memories."This has been my North Star.To learn more about David, you can visit him on the following media and social sites:LinkTreehttps://linktr.ee/the_real_dnmInstagramLink: https://www.instagram.com/the_real_dnm/Click here to learn more about the Outdoor Writers Association of AmericaLink: https://owaa.org/The Outdoor Adventure Series is a Podcast Production of Fox Coaching, Inc.Link: https://foxcoaching.com

According to Evia, (cited by Small Business Trends) women make up less than 20 percent of U.S. tech jobs, even though they make up more than half of the U.S. workforce. According to McKinsy and Company, Gender diversity is correlated with both profitability and value creation. Like gender diversity, top-team ethnic and cultural diversity is correlated with profitability. In the most crude business terms - more diversity means more money. Which I would hope is not the main driver in campaigns and strategies to increase diversity in the workplace, specifically tech. Tech and SaaS has an endless amount of complex problems which need a multitude of varying tactics, perspectives and conversations. The more diverse minds you have at the table, the more likely you are to come up with compelling and unique solutions. In short, diversity rocks, it's needed, it makes basic human sense, and I'll continue to advocate for diversity in tech and I hope you will too. Which is why I'm happy to highlight one of SaaS' rising heroes, Vanessa Hannay, who not only serves as a Senior Customer Success Strategist at Muck Rack, but also recently co-founded a NYC Chapter for Women in Customer Success. While achieving accomplishments in her role at Muck Rack, she took the opportunity to leverage her success to open the door for other aspiring women in Customer Success, while creating a community of women currently in Customer Success to network. This episode highlights Vanessa's journey which led her to working in customer success and enabling others to do the same.

The first seven-eighths include everything that brought us to this moment of stuckness. Examples of the first seven-eighths include discovering your passion but not knowing how to manifest it in the world; achieving, but not being able to maintain physical or emotional health; and saying goodbye, but being unsure of what to say hello to. Tune into Bridgit's passionate expertise on our relationships with our hidden inner selves! Michael Anderson joined Achilles as the Director of the NYC Chapter in May of 2017.  Michael has competed in over 350 races in the U.S. and around the globe, has completed eleven consecutive Boston Marathons and has run over 25 marathons including five World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, and NYC).  After running his first NYRR race in 2000, Michael was moved by the power of Achilles and has been an admirer ever since. He credits the accomplishments of Achilles athletes as a factor in pushing himself on race day and for toughing it out in the grueling final miles of each marathon he has run. Before joining Achilles, he spent several years as an event manager and freelance writer. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/irunbecause/support
