In this episode, Bryan and Josh dive deep into Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the 2025 dark fantasy RPG from French studio Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive. This is the first outing of director Guillaume Broche, formerly of Ubisoft, featuring a powerhouse voice cast including Jennifer English, Ben Starr, and Charlie Cox, and a wildly eclectic soundtrack by Lorien Testard and Alice Duport-Percier that spans classical to dubstep. If that wasn't enough to draw you in the premise of the game alone is one of the more intriguing in recent memory: For the last 67 years, the island of Lumière has endured the “Gommage,” a ritual in which an ethereal being known as the Paintress erases everyone older than a mysteriously dwindling number. Expedition 33 sets out to confront the paintress, them embark on an exploration of how art, death, and memory intertwine within the game's Belle Époque-inspired world.Bryan and Josh also unpack the game's richly layered writing and worldbuilding, noting how the prologue perfectly sets the tone and how the setting pulses with French cultural flair, even down to battling a mime in the opening minutes. Clair Obscur features a truly memorable cast, contributing to a story that's equal parts tragic and hopeful, and while the combat system's balance of dodge, parry, and unique “Pictos” and “Luminas” mechanics met the challenge of keeping combat snappy and engaging. However, at the end of it all, Clair Obscur's core themes of death and grief give it both its weight and its beauty, cementing its place as one of 2025's standout video game experiences.Notes: The impossible (true) stories behind the making of Clair Obscur Expedition 33The Ones Who Walk Away from OmelasClair Obscur: Expedition 33 | Lumière

Soovituseks on Immortals Fenix Rising, mille Ubisoft annab ära tasuta ja Sherlock Holmesi mängud Humble Bundle'is.

Hosted on Acast.

Anno 117: Pax Romana puts you in the place of a new Roman Governor at a crucial point in the history of the Roman Empire. Rome has never been more powerful but the mighty Emperor Trajan has died. You must choose how to keep the peace in your new province, whether in the Celtic wilds of Albion or on the Mediterranean coastlines of Latium. In this special episode recorded live at Gamescom 2025, Matt Lewis and Dr Holly Nielsen ask the senior game writer, Matt Cook, about which historical people and events inspired the game's story, how they addressed ancient attitudes to slavery, religion and warfare, and what real historical facts the developers' couldn't include for being too incredible.

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch might be the most unexpected comeback in gaming history: an animated Netflix series based on a franchise that's been dormant for a decade. MonteCristo and DoA dive deep into Ubisoft's strange revival of Sam Fisher, the stealth-action legend who's now older, grizzled, and apparently stuck in an anime-style John Wick universe created by Derek Kolstad. In this episode, the hosts debate whether Deathwatch is a solid espionage thriller or just a messy prelude to Ubisoft's upcoming Splinter Cell remake. They discuss the show's surprising violence, chaotic hacking scenes, and the questionable logic of “chaos algorithms,” plus the performances of Liev Schreiber as Sam Fisher and the legacy of Michael Ironside's voice. WE'RE LATE!!!! Don't worry, it's not yours. This episode we talk about what went down at Twitch Con. AI is being put into your fridge and washing machines. What the hell is everyone talking about with Ubisoft missing out the greatest AC game/plot? A new Pokeman game came out and it sucks ... just like the last one did. Turns out Microsoft's price increases has absolutely nothing to do with tariffs. Shocker, we know. We also give out thoughts on some Anime, a few games and some movies. Give it a listen. Who knows, you might like what you hear.
A big announcement was expected during the HALO Championship Series, and it certainly delivered, as one of the worst-kept secrets in gaming finally became real: the HALO Combat Evolved remake has evolved into HALO Campaign Evolved. Where all of the story levels are remade in Unreal Engine, a new set of prequel levels is added with Sgt Johnson and Master Chief, and it is also coming to PlayStation 5. Set to make its series debut on the console at some point in 2026. Does Sean feel anything for this? Also, Sarah Bond echoes the sentiments of console exclusives being old hat, but Sony and Nintendo would beg to differ, as they continue to pump them out for their consoles. But will it really make a difference for the "Premium" console/hybrid that Microsoft is planning as the next and perhaps final "Xbox"? Marc certainly has some thoughts here. Plus, Marc has been playing PowerWash Simulator 2 and Wreckreation, Sean has spent more time in Ivalice with Final Fantasy Tactics. Shawn Layden says Free-to-Play are "not real" games. Pokemon Legends Z-A sells big, Madden has a new exclusivity deal with the NFL, a pair of indies do well, and Ubisoft layoffs begin.
