POPULARITY
This field recording was taken at Uzungöl, one of the most popular touristic place in Trabzon. Although the general characteristics of the soundscape of this lake mostly has the anthrophonic features, the eastern part of the lake where this recording has been taken has less human circulation and activities. Thus, at this place there is an artificial waterfall where the river goes towards the lake. The most interesting thing of this recording is the buzzing sound of the waterfall. This recording has been taken by Zoom H1n sound recorder. Recorded by Aycan Turaman.
Noise, the soundtrack of our everyday life in a city. If you look at the spectogram of the recording you'll find it very boring and static, almost like a pink noise. It is mandatory to remember that noise pollution is a big issue for our wellbeing. The recording was made in Pueblito Paisa, Medellín, Colombia on 21 december 2023 at around 1 p.m. with a Zoom H1N. Recorded by Cosmin Sandu.
(Note: if the audio sounds strange it's because I was using my Zoom H1N for the intro and outro - Rocky, my dog, wouldn't let me record in the room with the better mic, so I ask for your forgiveness and give you my thanks) This week Tim Kail talks about The Rock, only everything he's doing outside the ring. The fifteenth episode of an audio space adventure book. Anthony McGinley was ten years old when his mother died. She was given full honours at a state funeral, but after that life in the McGinley household began to slowly fall apart. Untill Anthony found an unfinished novel among his mother's things. It described an allegory for a flawed antihero. Can Nancy Goodaim save the solar system from the evil Sozman Borkstapple? Is there such thing as magic? Or are we simply the heroes of our own stories?
The most important discovery about this microphone-audio recorder combination (specific to this "CLOSE" proximity) is that it sounds much better with the audio recorder's LOW CUT filter ON (set to 160Hz)! This is one of those things I wouldn't have guessed, but at this ("CLOSE") proximity, there is way too much BASS (sounds "boomy") without these LOW CUT settings. I also tried using the MIC. LOWCUT (both of the settings) and they didn't sound good at all, but the 160Hz filter on the Zoom H1n audio recorder is making the audio sound pretty natural and "REAL" (which is my goal for the "starting point"). "Morn in d Märthalle uf 2 Bier", hatte uns Patrice vorgestern via Whatsapp gefragt.

Kane, Thom and Aaron have years of experience between them of helping hundreds of entrepreneurs and businesses start, scale and monetise their podcasts. On this episode they discuss the various setups you can use to record your podcast, from full studio setups to small, portable equipment and which they have found are the best quality for cost. They also demonstrate all the dos and don'ts of microphone technique, room set up, and even what you should be wearing and how you should wear your hair while recording! KEY TAKEAWAYS Don't stick to one way of doing remote interviews. We recommend cleanfeed, but there are other browser-based recording apps like zencastr and riverside.fm or you can use Skype or Zoom. Be flexible, if your guest doesn't know how to use Zoom, for example, use something they do know how to use it'll make them more comfortable. There are multiple set ups you can use to record from a full studio setup to a portable rig that you can set up anywhere. The Zoom H1N is a great portable audio device that comes with a lavalier microphone that you clip onto your shirt. It's basically a really good quality Dictaphone. If you're recording out and about using this, make sure you use a pop shield to reduce wind noise. Dynamic microphones like the Behringer XM8500 are robust and durable, condenser microphones like the Behringer C1 are very sensitive to movements and electronic noise. These are all XLR microphones, not USB. The Zoom PodTrak P4 is a compact, affordable, portable recorder unit that makes it really easy to capture audio and can record audio direct from a phone as well as USB mics and plugs into your PC via a USB and becomes, essentially, a USB microphone on your PC. It also splits the audio streams from separate mics/devices so they don't interfere with each other, hopefully making editing easier. Boom are stands are better than tripod desk stands as they can be moved closer to you depending on whether you stand or sit far away from your desk. Moving the mic as close to your face as you can helps to reduce background sound and keep audio quality high. Make sure you're recording in a quiet room with lots of soft furnishing to break up the sound, rather than a kitchen or bathroom which has a lot of reflective, hard surfaces. You can even record from under the cover on your bed or sofa cushions. However, if you're recording from a location and want some background sound to add atmosphere, go for it, but acknowledge it and set the scene but make sure your voice is being picked up more loudly than the background sound. BEST MOMENTS ‘You definitely need a pair of headphones, no matter how good quality, because you won't be able to monitor the quality of your recording otherwise.' ‘As long as you're close and present while using a Behringer C1 it won't pick up background noise.' ‘You'll never need a 3-metre-long XLR cable, 1-1.5m is more than enough. And you get what you pay for, so don't buy cheap.' ‘Rhode NT1 and Blue Yeti are good, but more expensive than they should be. Samson Q2U USB/XLR mics are better value.' ‘The Double Ds: Distance and Direction are key to audio quality. Keep close to the mic and talk into the microphone, not into the side or the top.'

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlnCxFIAD2c Brian talks about his cool new purchase for recording live podcasts called the, Zoom H1n. Transcription Zoom H1n for podcasting. Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. Today we are reviewing the H1n, the Zoom H1n, and this is i don't know if you can tell it's a small little thing very simple digital recorder not simple it does a whole heck of a lot but it is deceptively simple in presentation. There's not a whole lot to it it takes two double a batteries in the back it's got a little spot that you can screw in a tripod so you can have it i actually have a small small little tripod bought separately that i could just screw this right in is the first time i'm doing this so i'm assuming i could screw it right in, I can there it is. So I could set it down I bought this for podcasting and it's one of those situations where it doesn't take a whole lot to do podcasts especially live podcasts. If you're doing them at a distance zoom works perfectly well for an audio podcast or a video podcast but especially for audio. If you've got a strong enough connection it doesn't take much i have also done interviews over the phone where there's apps that allow you to record basically it's a third party that's recording the conversation that you you kind of have a three way call that's the best ones i've been able to use so far at least on an iphone. But when it comes to live conversations i was looking for something that i can record a conversation with multiple people in the room. Because i have these little lav mics like the one I'm using right now and i'll have two of them on a splitter connected to my iphone. And I've gotten really good at podcast quality off of those when you start splitting it more than two ways it can get a little iffy and it's one of those things where I just didn't want to go through the hassle of that in person. I just wanted to be able to have something that I could sit down and record and this thing's got microphones going in two different directions you can see that there and so it really gets ambient sound. It also allows you to adjust between zero and 10, they missed 11 for some reason but zero and 10 you can adjust the sensitivity of the mics to where you can really pick up a lot. I mean I've got it somewhere between five and six and it does perfectly well you do it any more than that and you can hear yourself breathing and everything else. It's like I don't need it that direct but if I have a further away from me I'd probably turn it up a little bit if i had a couple people in the room I might turn up a little bit and just send it away from us and make sure that it's picking us up. It's got a place that you can listen in on it's got a place that you can plug in another microphone and so you can get a whole lot out of this and just doing some minor recording off but i can't believe how wonderful it sounds really really good. There's a whole lot of technical stuff about i don't even understand but if you're looking for something if you don't need something that's super techie but just has a very simple idea behind it. You'll want to get an sd card i bought this in a pack somebody had a little kit that included a 32 g i believe is sd card and that's how you keep memory on it so you want an sd card. Was a bunch of memory on it so you can record as much as you want and stuff like 32 g's quite a bit when it comes to just recording mp3 which is what i'm doing with this so so far so good. If I end up having bad news about this thing later on I'll let you know but you can see online reviews are very high for this thing it's an amazing little piece of technology. And if you're looking to do podcasts and you're looking to do them in person and you want something even more simple than your iphone in terms of having a whole lot of capability but also being able to do a lot this is a great little great litt...

When I first saw Celai on LinkedIn, I was blown away. She had an impressive video of her runway walk, and she was the youngest active LinkedIn user I had ever seen. She also stated she was a curly hair activist and the youngest runway model in the world! I knew I had to get to know this young lady and learn how at such a young age, she was able to make a statement about her natural beauty as a young African-American girl, rocking her natural hair and making such a huge impression on the fashion world with her personal brand. Celai West, pronounced “sah-LAY”, is a quirky eleven year old STEMgirl who is making waves in the fashion, runway, vlogging and acting industry, all while proving you can never be too cool for school. She changed the industry standards when she became the youngest professional runway model to walk amongst an all-adult lineup in NYFW, at just ten years old. West can regularly be seen walking the runways along-side some of the best supermodels in the business. Celai began print modeling when she was five, doing runway shows when she was six, started acting and became the CEO of her own t-shirt line, TheChattyChick.com, at seven, walked in NYFW for the first time at eight, had her first viral video at nine, earned her second viral runway video and co-authored her first book at ten. Now that she’s eleven, she will become the youngest show producer to produce a NYFW show this September with The Industry Fashion Show. Celai has worked with major brands such as Target, Walmart, Amazon, Gap, Disney and Allstate and was the leading lady in Willy Williams’ music video “The Voodoo Song” that has been viewed over 18 million times! She also appeared in “I Am My Own Mother” which was selected to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2018. Celai West was recently featured on Vogue Italia and Good Morning America, has appeared on two news channels, two talk shows, eleven magazine covers and published inside several magazine issues and newspapers. Many of her images, as well as videos, have been shared on social media in viral numbers, including two viral runway videos that have been viewed more than 25 million times collectively. Please be sure to check out her Press page. After several unpleasant experiences with stylists who were unknowledgeable on how to style her hair while on set, Celai and her mom teamed up to create their own hair tutorials. They expected to help show styling and hair care techniques for ethnic textured hair but were pleasantly surprised to find that their videos were a hit and over six have received viral numbers. West looks forward to continuing to break barriers while working hard in the classroom and prove that models ARE indeed smart too. Please be sure to subscribe to her blog to keep abreast of all the great things she’s up to! Abigail had decided years ago that she did not want to pursue business and do something different career wise than what her parents had chosen. Early on she decided that she was going to pursue a career in Law. After four years of constant rejection from Law School she decided to apply again in Canada, being accepted at the U of S. It was through this that she discovered and embrace her gifting for event planning and started a company! 5. Awasis Boutique was founded by Christine Marie, a proud Metis/Filipino mama of two, who enjoyed sewing cute, comfy, practical + quality items for her boys, because shopping for little boys can be hard! After receiving continuous orders of custom bibs and aprons and interest from others, Christine did some research to see if there was an Indigenous baby line in Saskatchewan. To her surprise, there was no such thing. Thus, Awasis Boutique was born out of her home in February 2018. Awasis means “child” in Cree. Awasis Boutique is the first Indigenous inspired baby and kids fashion line within Saskatchewan that features custom bibs, blankets and onesies, toddler tees, mama tees and more. Within the onesie/tees collection, you will find phrases in the Cree and English languages. Examples of phrases: “Bannock Baby” “Just Jigging” + “I love Kokum”. During the first year of business, Christine partnered up with 11 retailers which include the Royal University Hospital, Wanuskewin stores, Batoche Gift Shop, Ready Set Baby and more within the Saskatoon area. She also partnered with stores in Regina, Prince Albert and Calgary, AB. Christine is a Metis mama who is dedicated to giving back to the community and on a mission to promote, celebrate and educate people about the Indigenous culture one product at a time. About the Founder: Christine Marie graduated with honours in 2010 at the U of S through Suntep with a Bachelor of Education with her teaching subjects being Home Economics and Native Studies. Christine taught for a few years before stepping into the role of motherhood. While teaching, she devoted much of her time to helping at-risk youth and had a passion to inspire specifically, Indigenous youth. She has shared her life story at a variety of local reserves and youth groups about overcoming stereotypes as a Metis woman. She was the first within her immediate family to graduate from Post-Secondary and now, start and launch her own business. Hard working, passionate and fun are a few words that describe her well. Some other fun facts include: Anthem Singer in Cree + English for SK Rattlers 2019 CBC Future 40 recipient 2018 Anthem Singer for SK RoughRiders 2016/2017 WeDay Guest Speaker/Aboriginal Recipient 2013 Proud Generation Calendar Recipient 2011 Home Economics Hanon Scholarship 2009 Media Coverage in 2018 for Awasis Boutique - CTV Saskatoon, Global News Saskatoon, The Star Phoenix, CBC Indigenous, CBC Saskatchewan, Eagle Feather News, CFWE Radio Edmonton, MBC Radio La Ronge + APTN. Head to Instagram or Facebook to stay up to date with the latest and/or shop the products from Awasis Boutique! Be sure to follow Christine on all her platforms. Determine and understand how you are able to stand in the gap(s) and be the bridge to what is missing in your community and culture. By bridging the gap(s) you are giving voice to a need that many will recognize but not be in a position to bring change. Christine saw a gap and as she stepped many confirmed that there was a gap and that she was in fact, bridging it in. 2. Embrace “YOU” Release stereotypes that you and others place on yourself and develop a growth mindset about culture and heritage and the influence both culture and heritage have in shaping you as an individual. This mindset creates compassion and drive to see others no longer live in shame because of their culture and heritage but rather embrace and value what they have to offer. 3. Authentic Branding Matters In order to build your following base products, phrases, and wording must align with what the branding speaks to. Christine made modifications to her branding to ensure that material was authentically made, and sourced out ways to increase the authenticity of her brand so that when individuals would ask questions, she would be prepared and genuine in answering them. 4. Set Realistic Goals Recognize, understand and embrace your limitations and set goals that work within those limitations, keeping in mind that goals can be changed and readapted along the way. Example: Currently Christine has the ability to immerse herself full-time into business but her life circumstances do not allow for her to take this on and has had to set the realistic goal that currently she is only able to take on business on a part-time basis. This is a choice she has made in order to be present with her children before they begin school. Christine knows this will not always been the situation and so has her eyes set to the future when her children are in school and she is able to adapt her life to promote business on a full-time basis. 5. Empower Others Through Community Christine is passionate about empowering other Indigenous women entrepreneurs and youth with cultural and entrepreneurial skills. She believes this can be accomplished through building community and relationship with those she meets. Christine endeavors to empower communities to learn, rise, grow, embrace, achieve and thrive as they succeed in life. Through the process of burning out with Flag Football and Rugby schedules and competitions, Santia learned the process of maintaining a healthy balance and the work it took to return from burnout. Being proactive going forward and making intentional choices to maintain wholeness and balance is KEY to longevity in an arena or platform. 2. Pursue Education Santia is a believer in education. With a Major in English and Minor in Psychology, she knows the benefits of education, not only professionally but personally as well. She uses her own education to demonstrate to young girls that they too can pursue an education. 3. Team Relationships & Life Relationships are Key As an athlete Santia specifically values relationships as she knows that relationships in the arena of competition can be difficult to come by. Santia has also learned the important of Life Relationships. As an athlete can become consumed with what she called – Wake. Train. Sleep. Mentality. She knows the importance in having relationships and friendships that bring you out of the isolating training routine of being an athlete and is intentional about spending quality time in those relationships and maintaining a healthy balance between training and relationships. 4. Set Big Goals Always have your eyes fix forward and give yourself goals to work towards. Santia currently has her eyes set on attending the 2024 Olympics with her Rugby team, as well as speaking and publishing books on a global scale. 5. Brand Is More Than One Platform Profession Santia believes that Brand is more than just one platform profession, that she is more than an athlete. She is an author, speaker, model, athlete, influencer… and brand needs to encompass all platforms she chooses to stand on. Brand is also having the gift of influence within each platform and this is what Santia is grateful for most. My favourite social media platform right now is not Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest. My FAVOURITE social media platform right now is LinkedIn. As a social media marketer, I'm familiar with most of the top platforms and their ad services. Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and more, but in the last couple months I have been most impressed by LinkedIn. SUBSCRIBE TO THE PODCAST HERE: APPLE PODCASTS GOOGLE PODCASTS SPOTIFY LIBSYN FREE DOWNLOADABLE PDF I have really appreciated the platform both as a consumer and content creator. I have found the content to be both uplifting and motivating because it is geared towards those who are career-driven. This type of content opposes what you would typically see on Facebook, where family and friends produce most of the content, or Instagram filled with celebrity posts. The content tends to be more educational, practical and rich in terms of personal development. As a content creator, the gains are even better. As of today, by the time I had posted six videos on the platform within a month, I had already booked two significant clients. I discuss the benefits of content creation and more in this podcast. David Sanni, professionally known as Davy Sage, is a Nigerian born Pop and RnB recording artist & songwriter hailing from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada. I found Davy Sage on SaskMusic.com, a music association I am a member of in the province of Saskatchewan. I happen to be a passionate musician and singer-songwriter, and I was shocked and excited to see them highlighting an artist who appeared to be of Nigerian descent on their Twitter. I was curious about this artist I had discovered. I knew I had to reach out to him and find out how he became successful with Afro-Beat music in Saskatchewan and Canada. Afro Beat music, is a music genre that is mainly popular in Nigeria and West Africa. I wanted to know how he was making waves with this genre here in North America. Key Takeaways: 1) It is crucial to have a clear understanding of your path as an artist. 2) Using the fact that his music was a novel style in his city allowed him to stand out and build a portfolio. 3) Creating music that is relatable helped him to reach audiences in North America. 4) Before artists chase after labels, now labels chase after artists. 5) Partner with local organizations that fund music initiatives. Over the past 13 years, Vivian Kaye has bootstrapped two businesses from the ground up. For the last 6 years, she has strictly focused on the e-commerce world where she built KinkyCurlyYaki, a textured hair extensions company, to over 1 million in annual revenue. As a founder, she knows all about the highs that come with scaling to 6 figure months and hundreds of 5-star reviews, to the lows of late inventory and irate customers and all the crazy in between. She has been there, done that and has the receipts to prove it! She loves sharing what she's learned with her coaching clients and as a keynote speaker. Vivian has been featured on Shopify's Expert Academy Series, Ted Conference's "The Way We Work" and in digital publications such as Black Enterprise, Ebony Magazine, Refinery21, Blavity and podcasts such as Side Hustle Pro, Hashtags & Stilettoes and She Did it Her Way. A self-proclaimed non-expert, Vivian’s humble approach to building a million dollar empire is refreshing and relatable. Audiences love her witty delivery style, and refreshing honesty about what it really takes to be successful. Her inimitable blend of humour, savvy, and realness are all dished up with genuine warmth and infectious laughter. A pretence-free zone, free of rigidity and tradition, Vivian Kaye is redefining what it means to be an entrepreneur, CEO and leader in 2019 and beyond. KEY TAKEAWAYS: 1) She wanted to give women of colour the confidence to show up as they are with protective styles that imitate their natural curl textures. 2) Every generation has to get better. Increase your education and skills with each generation. 3) Nurture your natural talents. 4) Mindset is the biggest barrier for people succeeding in business. 5) Research your target market and find the best opportunities for your product to exist. “I think everyone that looks at that photo can agree that the two individuals in it are Caucasian. My question for the jury is if they aren’t Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan, who were they? There are people that say well there were probably other white people there. No; there were no other white people there and I have the source documents from the Navy to prove it.” What makes a good story? Is it in the details? Or the way that someone tells it? There’s a story that’s been told for over 50 years now. And it’s remained the same. Amelia Earhart, Fred Noonan, and their Lockheed Electra 10E were in the Marshall Islands and Saipan. Fred Goerner believed it. Thomas Devine believed it. And modern-day investigators like Dick Spink, Les Kinney, and Mike Campbell believe it. So did members of the US military that were stationed in Saipan after the events of the war. Tonight, we finish painting this picture for you. And my partner Jennifer brings in for the first time, a witness for the defense that will offer a counterbalance to everything we’re presenting. And we’ll bring in some heavy hitters that might drop a fact or two that will blow your mind. Get ready. We’re back with continuing testimony for Japanese capture. Thanks for tuning in to The Guitaring Show Podcast. This audio is taken from our show on YouTube which you can watch here If you haven't already, please subscribe. We play our Matons | Melbourne Guitar Show | Zoom H1n | Micro Tuners Today we compare our beloved Maton guitars as we look towards the Melbourne Guitar Show. At this year's show, we will be meeting players and builders plus a few surprise guests as well! Also in today's video, we play a couple of tunes, I find an O-Port, Zach finds a serial number and we both stumble upon a brand new concept, Fireproof Strings! It's actually a terrible idea. This episode was recorded on the Zoom H1n, a handheld, stereo digital recorder. What you're hearing is unprocessed audio from the H1n placed about one metre in front of the couch. No post-processing was used at all. What do you think? We really appreciate your comments and suggestions for future episodes. Keep them coming! And remember to share our channel with your mates! "There are theories and there is truth. And this is the truth at last." What happened to Amelia Earhart & Fred Noonan? Were they simply lost at sea like the United States government claimed, or did they fly to Nikumaroro or maybe reverse course just over their halfway point to Buka? As of part 13’s release, we’ve just passed the 82nd year since their vanishing and still; we’re no closer to the truth. In the early 1960’s CBS correspondent Fred Goerner began digging. In what turned into an exhaustive pursuit of the truth, Goerner’s search turned over information that the world wasn’t ready to believe. Sometimes, you don’t have to go out looking for a story. As tips began pouring in, Goerner summarized that the idea of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan being in the hands of the Japanese might be much more than an alternative explanation. After his investigation was over, and he’d immersed himself in the story and talked to dozens and dozens of witnesses, Fred Goerner published “The Search for Amelia Earhart” which became a national best seller sitting on the New York Times best seller list for 6 months; a feat not repeated since. For Goerner there was no mystery. There was only the truth. Tonight, we’ll hear from over 25 of the documented eyewitnesses throughout the Marshall Islands, Saipan and the United States military that were stationed there. All of this leads to a single important question. Is the Japanese capture hypothesis truly “the truth at last”? The time has come. The most requested piece of our trial is upon us. It’s time to hear witnesses, evidence and experts for Japanese capture. "It's so hard to identify it because you're looking at the ghost of the air-frame; you're looking at the coral that has grown around the structure and that structure is gone." Crime scenes might be the running theme for this trial. But here’s a scenario that I want to explain to people who aren’t familiar with this case. It’s an easy visual; so, follow me. Imagine you’re a detective called in to investigate a murder. Let’s say in this case the victim is a woman and the likely suspect is her husband; a domestic situation gone terribly wrong. When you arrive at the crime scene; let’s say it’s the home of this couple, one thing is obvious; there’s no body. At the crime scene there’s multiple pieces of evidence to investigate; it looks like there may have been a struggle of some kind, maybe you find a little blood; you might even find a murder weapon; all solid evidence yet no body in sight. Then suddenly, you learn that a body of a woman was discovered several miles away in an alley that appears to have several similarities to your apparent victim. Here’s the question. Do you investigate the body? Or do you ignore it and try to prove your case based solely off the crime scene? Tonight, we’re going to talk about a theory that’s been at the forefront of the investigation into the vanishing of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan. And this theory happens to have a body. And that body is none other than that of an airplane carrying multiple similarities to the plane they vanished in almost 82 years ago. It’s time to dissect the third of five theories with experts, evidence and testimony for the Buka hypothesis. "Until we have that plane in my mind there are other possibilities; even if the witnesses on the stand today say 'highly improbable' that may be so but until we find her plane; until we find her resting place I think that there's always other possibilities." July the 2nd 1937 is a day clouded in judgment. Many people believe that it was the last day in the remarkable lives of Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan. For those people, and everyone investigating this case, their investigations begin on that day. In part six of the show, we talked about specific dates and the importance of those dates in our lives. What if you knew when the last day of your life would be? Would you wanna know? Would you wanna know how your life would end, or would you want to go fearless into the horizon as Amelia and Fred did? In part 10 of our series, we’re going to lay the foundation of the greatest mystery of all time. Every crime has a crime scene. And every crime has evidence. Tonight, we’re gonna lay the evidence for this story out; and at the end of day three of the trial you’ll know exactly what that evidence is, and just how heavily that evidence is leaned on by the experts that are called to testify before you. Tonight, for the very first time, we’re gonna put the first of five remarkable theories in front of you; our jury. It’s time to unravel July 2nd, 1937 with witness testimony from crash and sink. "If they never find her, having her life end with a mystery is still fascinating; in fact, it might be the most fascinating ending that you can have in this case." On June 29th, 1937 a tired Amelia Earhart & Fred Noonan touched down in Lae New Guinea having reached the 3-quarter mark of their record attempt at circumnavigating the globe. Long days of flight had brought AE and Noonan to the likes of Brazil, Dakar, Bangkok, and Darwin Australia just to name a few. Though she was anxious to complete her long journey and fly into the record books, the next day, June 30th, 1937 AE sent a telegram to her husband, George Palmer Putnam that read “RADIO MISUNDERSTANDING AND PERSONNEL UNFITNESS. PROBABLY WILL HOLD ONE DAY”. What these personnel problems meant has been debated for many years. Were they related to Fred Noonan? Whatever the issues might have been, AE didn’t let them derail her plans – she and Noonan took off from Lae on July the 2nd 1937 at 10 AM local time. It was the last that anyone would ever see them. While Earhart's plane was in the air, the Coast Guard cutter Itasca was waiting to guide her into Howland island. However, due to AE’s friend Gene Vidal no longer being at the Bureau of Air Commerce to direct subordinates to smooth her way — some of the ship's communications were on bandwidths that she didn't have the ability to receive. There were other difficulties: a radio direction finder on Howland that would work with Earhart's higher-bandwidth equipment required batteries, which were drained by the time she was in the area. Fourteen hours and 15 minutes into her flight, the Itasca received a first, somewhat garbled transmission from Earhart about "cloudy weather." Though the messages themselves would grow clearer, their content remained worrying, as when Earhart radioed, "We must be on you but cannot see you." She apparently only received one message from the ship, though the Itasca had been transmitting for hours. While continuing to broadcast — the radio strength of her communications indicated she was close — Earhart remained unable to see Howland Island. The weather around Howland was clear, but there are reports of clouds about 30 miles northwest. And if Earhart had flown into clouds and bad weather along the way, it could have prevented Noonan from taking the sightings he needed to navigate precisely (the charts he was using were also not entirely accurate). Earhart's last transmission, made 20 hours and 14 minutes into her flight, indicated they were going to continue "running north and south." The plane never made it to Howland. Tonight, we dive into the events that occurred while AE and Noonan were at Lae, some controversial and some head scratching. We’ll also climb aboard the Electra with AE and Noonan and try to unravel the beginnings of one of the greatest mysteries of all time. What actually happened to Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan? Tonight, the trial continues as we bring someone to the stand that you’ll never see coming. Time to go to work. "It’s time to take this entire case; all 82 years of it and burn it all down." When we decided to do this series not too long ago, the first question that I asked was how do we approach a case like this in a way that hasn’t already been done? And how can we make it interesting and fun even? The idea for what you’re about to hear came to me almost a year ago and it took us almost a year to produce a single part of this series. As we stand right now, we’ve journeyed through Amelia Earhart’s childhood, her adolescent years, her time in Canada after the war, her introduction to aviation and her extraordinary career. We’ve looked at causes that meant a lot to AE such as the Ninety-Nines, the air derby of 1929 and her extraordinary ties to Purdue University. And when last we left her, Amelia experienced failure, not for the first time in her life, but on a stage and a level that was unlike anything she’d ever faced to that point. I’ve poured over this case for a little over 15 years now, and I’ve spoken to some of the top minds in the world regarding what happens next. Some of those minds disagree with each other. Aggressively at times. There are aspects of this case that begin on the day AE and Noonan disappeared; July the 2nd 1937. And there have been constant developments to this day. One thing is for certain. What’s been done up to this point hasn’t yielded any results. At the end of part seven, I told you that you were all about to take part in the trial of the century. Tonight, that trial begins. We can’t look at this thing with a business as usual approach. It’s time to shake things up. It’s time to get under some people’s skin. It’s time to take this entire case; all 82 years of it and burn it all down. Strap yourselves in because we’re all in till it’s over. Time to swear in. Spring has arrived. Finally. It’s been a long and brutal winter in Atchison, Kansas. The interesting thing about Spring is that it signals a rebirth. Winter brings death, Spring brings that death back to life. And the birds' chirp. Which is always nice. Six episodes down in this series and tonight things start to shift. When last we left her, Amelia Earhart had an idea. And that idea was to fly around the world at the equator. Because of her connection to Purdue University she now had her vessel. A state-of-the-art Lockheed Electra 10E that was dubbed “the flying laboratory”. There are also a couple of characters that enter Amelia’s life at this point. Characters that will forever be etched into history alongside her. One especially. Tonight, we discuss the first leg of her world flight and where that leg took her; Hawaii. All was well, spirits were up, and it seemed like Amelia Earhart was well on her way to adding “world flyer” to her already huge list of career accomplishments. Then, shortly after 5:40 Am on the morning on March 20th, 1937 everything changed. On takeoff, at Luke field, Amelia Earhart ground-looped her aircraft. We’ll talk a lot about this tonight. Pay close attention to the testimony throughout this episode. In the end, you decide. Did Amelia Earhart make a potentially fatal error on takeoff? Or was something else at play? Chasing Earhart may be wrapping up, but our investigation is just beginning. "That plane; the entire project; the mission was a Purdue mission. If it's ever recovered, it belongs to us." Normally, I start each part of the show by telling you where I’m at. Tonight, I just can’t do that. My location has to remain unknown except for this. I’m somewhere in the northwest. A tease I know but I had to make a promise to the people that let me come here that for now, it would remain anonymous. In the first four parts of this series, we’ve covered a lot of ground. And I’ve promised you that all of this information we’ve covered is going to tie in. Tonight, it starts to do just that. In just a few short years, Amelia Earhart has become a household name. She’s reached the zenith of her popularity and at this point, she’s nearly at icon status. That’s arguable. In 1935, just under two short years before she would vanish into thin air, she began an unlikely partnership with Purdue University. This was an aspect of her life that she had been waiting for; a chance to get in on the ground floor and directly influence the women of the time. AE relished her short time there, and as we’ll learn tonight, she looked forward to expanding that role when she returned from the world flight. Tonight, we take you back to 1935 and West Lafayette Indiana to discuss “the start of something new” for Amelia Earhart. Something started, that unfortunately for her, and us was never finished. “The men you know, have been somewhat worried about such a long flight for us. They seem to have visions of us smashing up all over the countryside. So the thing for us to do is to prove that their fears have been foolish.” Welcome back to Vanished: Amelia Earhart. A question to kick off tonight’s show. What are some dates that you remember in your life? Maybe a wedding anniversary, or the birth of your child or a date that something significant happened in your life; positive or negative. There are a few dates in the life of Amelia Earhart that would qualify as important. How about, January the 3rd, 1921 the day that Amelia started flying with Neta Snook? October the 22nd, 1922 Amelia broke the altitude record; rising to 14,000 ft. June the 17th & 18th 1928 Amelia became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic as a passenger; the Friendship flight. That started it all. How about July the 2nd 1937? The day AE and Fred Noonan disappeared? We’ll get to that. But there’s another date that is synonymous with Amelia Earhart and quite a few others in fact. A date that not too many people know about. Tonight, we’re gonna learn all about this date. The women’s air derby. August the 18th 1929. Time to race. "Aviation, this young modern giant, exemplifies the possible relationship of women and the creations of science. Although women have not taken full advantage of its use and benefits, air travel is as available to them as to men." Welcome back to Vanished: Amelia Earhart. Tonight I take a little break from the midwest and travel to Morro Bay, California; one of my very favorite spots in the world. When we started this series there was never a question as to whether or not we'd discuss an organization that Amelia Earhart held very close to her heart. We just had to get the right people to do it, and tonight we have them. While the show thus far has covered all of the ways that Amelia Earhart was different from her fellow colleagues, tonight, I thought we'd try a different approach. After all, during the golden age of aviation, there was one organization that brought all of the pioneering women of aviation together for a greater cause. Well...ninety-nine of them at least. “I’m more or less mortgaging the future to go on. But what are futures for?” Welcome back to Atchison, Kansas and Vanished: Amelia Earhart. In the first two parts of this journey, we’ve gotten to know Amelia Earhart as a little girl; spending her youth here in Atchison, before venturing out into the world with her family and then on her own. The times were tough then and a young Amelia Earhart had been bitten by the aviation bug and was wading into the unknown skies to begin a career that would send shockwaves into the aviation world that are still felt to this very day. Tonight’s episode is all about that career. Before we get to the shocking end that has been clouded in mystery for over eight decades, we’re going to talk about Amelia’s rise to legendary status in American history. Amelia didn’t just tap the glass ceiling when she burst onto the scene. She shattered it. Records were set, goals were achieved, a unique career was crafted, and a destiny was realized. Day 2 of our special reports from Ashgabat and the 2018 World Championships! Gregor and I just brought the Zoom H1n recorder along with us and captured some impromptu conversations: a chat over breakfast, one during a midday break, and one at the end of the day. The environment can be quite noisy at times (and therefore a bit tough to here us in spots) but it gives you a sense of the atmosphere at Worlds (we hope). Special guest appearances include: Mike Choi, Mark Cannella, Sean Waxman, JP Nicoletta, and Nat Arem of hookgrip. Enjoy! https://the2doctors.files.wordpress.com/2018/11/2018-worlds-day-02.mp3 Also on iTunes!

WARNING! We hold a spoiler-rich discussion of Infinity War in this episode, so when you hear us give you the heads-up, skip ahead from 12 min 30 sec to 20 min 53 sec to skip that part of the conversation. If you do skip this part, don't forget to come back and listen to it after you've seen the film! We have to talk about Infinity War of course, but also in this episode; George talks about Cobra Kai, Jon give his opinion of the new season of WestWorld (which George does not agree with) and Mo talks about two old school strategy board games that are given a modern update. Welcome to episode 604 of the School of Podcasting Listen here Update on the PreSonus StudioLive AR12 USB Mixer The last episode I explained how I had purchased at PreSonus StudioLive AR12 USB Mixer. It's not cheap ($499) but there is an AR8 that is $150 ($350) less. The problem I had was when I record to the built-in SD card, there was a very faint (but noticeable) high pitch whine. In working with tech support that has been resolved and after updating the driver, it seems to have quit freezing up the audio on my computer. All in all, I'm happy with it. This is partially due to me having a DBX 286 which adds extra gain. I am using an Electrovice RE320, and it just seemed odd that I needed to really turn every (almost) all the way up to get things to peak. The fact that these units have built-in SD records can save you from buying a Zoom H1 (or any portable recorder) to get the recording off the computer. The Zoom H1 is typically around $100. Look for the price of the Zoom H1 to go down (more on that later) as they just announced a new Zoom H1n which will be available soon (that unit is geared a bit more towards musicians) Sponsor: Podcast Movement I am so looking forward to Podcast Movement. This is the largest Podcast Event that is solely geared toward podcasting. Being face to face with people is the best way to grow your network, and take advantage of all the opportunities. Starting a podcast is a great way to build your network, and coming to an event is like building your network on steroids. I got to talk to Marc Maron a couple of years ago. Jeff is been nominated five times for a podcast award and comes highly recommended by some friends. I started listening to his podcast and soon bought his book the 5 AM Miracle on Audible (also available on Amazon) How long did it take him to get his sponsor The difference between his blog audience vs his podcast audience What goes into making an episode How does he pick his subjects Does he make more money selling his own products or sponsorship? Jeff shares how his podcast brought him a book publisher - TWICE Does Jeff have any radio experience? How Jeff inspired his mail carrier who is now a giant fan of his show Why he decided to kill his first podcast What got him hooked on his subject Does he really get up at 5 AM? Jeff's Tips on Getting Focused A simple tip for starting your day in the right direction What is the difference between his first book the 5 AM Miracle and his new Book The Free Time Formula How does he achieve work/life balance? What if you don't have time to write all this stuff down? How do you make yourself go to bed? Jeff has been using wavve to share his podcast, but that's not the thing that's been delivering more listeners How did he approach popular websites to get his show mentioned? Jeff has a TON of bonus content for those that pre-order his book at his website His membership portal is built in Digital Access Pass and Learn Dash What is his favorite Todo List Task Manage? Why Getting Organized is Important It only makes sense to go fast when you are headed in the right direction. For me, being somewhat A.D.D. I get new ideas all the time. If you walk into my kitchen, you will find the cabinets open as I have moved on to my next task (eating ) without completing the last 1% of the previous project (closing) so I'm taking some of this year to get more focused, identify what is important to me, and then put the gas pedal down so I'm going fast, in the right direction. My favorite tools are Todist and Evernote. I'm currently taking a class on getting the most out of Todoist and Evernote. Check out Carl Pullein's channel on YouTube For learning how to use these tools. How did I learn about his channel and content? I told someone I was listening to Jeff's book, and he had been watching Carl's videos. Tell people what you are up to, they may have some great insights. My favorite example of Todoist is I can read an email and turn it into a to an item. For example, we previously had an episode with Clay Groves from Fishnerds.com on the show and he was talking about doing appearances. Another listener (who asked to be nameless) wrote in that "When I was in radio, the standard appearance rate was $250 an hour and you couldn't book talent for less than 2 hours. When I got my first speaking contract (for a very large health company) it was $750 for a half day, $1350 for a full day, with expenses and transportation covered. These rates are about 5 years old and may not apply to everyone.. but in case you were wondering.. that's one perspective." I've had that as a "to do" item and when I went into Todoist, I clicked a link and it took me to the actual email in Gmail. Great Advice on Growing Your Podcast Audience and Community Danny Pena has been on this show (amazing interview). He has a documentary coming out in February as he celebrates 13 years in podcast. He appeared on one my favorite shows about podcasting called the New Media Show with Todd Cochrane and Rob Greenlee. It's definitely worth a listen Mentioned In this Podcast Jeff Sanders Website Red Podcast The 5 AM Miracle Book and 5 AM Miracle Podcast Free Time Formula wavve audio sharing tool Todist and Evernote New Media Show
