Außerdem resümieren wir PRINCESS PEACH: SHOWTIME und RISE OF THE RONIN. Localizing games from Japanese to English (or vice versa) can be a delicate process, and sometimes yields results that are strange enough to become cultural phenomena on their own. This week, Greg Moore joins us to look at five famously weird localization decisions, after which we'll get into Freedom Planet 2's console release, (still more) Dragon's Dogma 2, a report that older games are taking up the bulk of everyone's game time, and the home console repairs or hacks you're proudest of. Question of the Week: Inspired by Matt's shameless Sonic IHOP plug, what's your favorite videogame/other brand cross-promotional tie-in of all time? Break song is Invasion of the Gabber Robots by The Laziest Men on Mars. Vidjagame Apocalypse theme by Matthew Joseph Payne.
Refresh Rate returns with another episode of Jen, Kyrie and Six recounting standout media and experiences from the past month. After bouncing off Sonic Frontiers hard, Six has fallen into Freedom Planet and its sequel, finding there what they couldn't in the series that inspired it. Jen is braving the season of death in Harvestella, and finding there's less harvesting than you'd expect given the name? And Kyrie is here to report back from a year where she finally felt safe returning to conventions, and the experience of doing so as press for the first time. This link is a folder of images we reference during the pod, in chronological order. Also in chronological order, our music is 8bit23 by Koichi Morita, the Freedom Planet Main Theme by Woofle and Strife from Freedom Planet, Those Who Resist Destiny from Harvestella by Go Shiina, Saria's Song from Ocarina of Time by Gamer of the Winds (@GameroftheWinds) and Mary of the Maryland Accordion Club (Facebook) live at Otakon 2022, and then a reprise of 8bit23 by Koichi Morita. You can find us on Twitter at @jbu3 for Jen, @KyrieAPage for Kyrie, and @sixdettmar for Six.
This time, Dylan (@Tha_DiLA) deals with the consequences of sipping a bad energy drink while he and Coop (@RiderStrike) continue with episodes 4 through 6 of Macross Delta. After seeing more of God of War Ragnarök at Sony's State of Play this week, we felt inspired to look at other series that told their stories across (or were abandoned after) just two games, something that's only really strange because we're so used to everything being trilogies in this industry. Then we'll dig into Steelrising, Freedom Planet 2, the reveals from State of Play, the Nintendo Direct, and Ubisoft Forward, and your personal Lord of the Rings-related stories.
With all these fantastic new announcements, projects and games we just seem to keep hearing about in the past few weeks, there's never been a better time to be a SEGA fan. Join us as we give you the lowdown on all the exciting happenings!

The challenge was to prove it is possible to show clothes without photographing them. This is a first, Vogue Italia has never had an illustrated cover: and as far as I know no issue of Vogue in which photography is not the primary visual medium has ever been printed. Thanks to this idea, and to these artists' process, the money saved in the production of this issue will go towards financing a project that really deserves it: the restoration of @FondazioneQueriniStampalia in Venice, severely damaged by the recent floods.” @efarneti See more via link in bio.
Sir Aaron Carter here and if you're into anime then you're in the right place, at least for now. Todays show is all about Anime inspired games, basically the ones that come from overseas because America doesn't do that. The ever excited Cory Vincent is tagging along as one of the biggest anime fans in the group, Jada’s on board sacrificing a birthday to join us, and the prodigal son Noel Beltran sits in and tells us where the hell he’s been, hint it has 31 flavors. In the second part of the show we get to talk to Dawn M. Bennet. You may know her from her spectacular voice acting on Freedom Planet, but now shes stepped into the anime world, voicing Frosch in the huge anime hit Fairy Tale. Will she share her secret to success in the VO world? Will Cory contain his love of Japan and all anime things? Will I Sir Aaron Carter ever stop saying “Terrible”? All that plus food on this weeks episode of the Weekend Bang!
In this episode Bard has to go solo in a multiplayer game as no one else has played it despite having copy, Ram get creeped out with Alien: isolation right before we are attacked by aliens ourselves in the form of Skazz’s cat. Bard also looks at Freedom Planet. We look forward to Hotline Miami 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance a realistic medieval RPG. We also talk about how Hyperkin have been caught out plagiarizing with the Retron 5 We discuss both bad and good Alien films, the downside to close combat on laundrette bills, how none of us really like Fable, and why Paris is like London but worst Notes Have some friends? Wow Wow Wow.. This weeks show is insane, got no brain.. Aaron and Cory have the tremendous oppurtunity to interview nearly the entire crew behind the amazing indie title from Galaxy Trail called Freedom Planet. Freedom planet is an 8-bit throwback title that carries heavy influence from games past particularly Sonic and Megaman. We have an extended interview where we talk about voice acting, easter eggs, and the future of the franchise. Cory and Aaron are joined by show regulars David Ng and Alexander Van Baggenswiggle who as always bring the party. After the interview the crew just wraps about whatever the hell we want because its just been one of those weeks, ya know the kind where your dad threatens to kill you… thats normal right? Oh well thanks to all who listen to the show this week and if you are looking for more info on Freedom Planet or the cavelcade of amazing guests we have on the show this week: Stephen Strife - @GalaxyTrail Dawn Bennett - @Dawn_M_Bennett Sean Chiplock - @SonicMega Xander Barriga - @BenAffleck Patrick M.
