In this episode of Highly Enlightened, Jon Purow is joined by Socrates Rosenfeld, the Co-Founder and CEO of Jane Technologies. A U.S. Army veteran and former Apache helicopter commander, he turned to cannabis to help re-acclimate to civilian life after leaving active duty in 2011. Frustrated by the lack of legal access in Massachusetts and the unreliable black market, he co-founded Jane Technologies with his brother Abraham to create a trusted e-commerce solution for cannabis retailers. Since its 2017 launch, Jane has become a leading digital provider in the industry, powering over 2,500 dispensaries and brands across 39 U.S. states and Canada with e-commerce, market analytics, payments, and point-of-sale technologies. Under Socrates' leadership, Jane has earned recognition from Forbes' The Cannabis 42.0 (2023), Inc. Power Partner (2023), and Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 (2022), while also being featured at major industry events like SXSW and MJBizCon. Before founding Jane, Socrates was an associate at McKinsey & Company, and he holds a degree from the United States Military Academy as well as an MBA in entrepreneurship from MIT. Indigenous technology companies can now apply to be part of the 25th annual Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards. The Technology Fast 50 is one of Ireland's foremost technology awards and a celebration of both innovation and entrepreneurship. The programme ranks the 50 fastest growing indigenous technology companies based on revenue growth over the last four years. The list features both private and public listed technology companies that have demonstrated creative strategies, sound management practices and marketplace vision, driving them to achieve the status of high-growth leaders. Speaking at the launch of this year's programme, James Toomey, partner and Fast 50 programme lead at Deloitte, said: "As we celebrate 25 years of Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 awards, it is an opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary growth of Ireland's indigenous technology sector and the ongoing presence and contribution of large tech companies that call Ireland home." "Even though there are challenges, Ireland's indigenous technology sector continues to exhibit robust growth in 2024. Cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analytics are all areas that are rapidly expanding amid increased investment in artificial intelligence and greater reliance on cloud infrastructure." "The Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Awards is a performance benchmark for indigenous tech companies and the industry as a whole. I strongly encourage any interested tech company in Ireland to apply." This year's awards programme will include several award categories that companies can enter in addition to the overall ranking. Growing New Technology Award in association with Google: This award recognises a company that has created or introduced a new or innovative product or service to international markets, which helped grow their business over the last four years. Impact Award in association with Meta: This award recognises a company that has made a significant impact within the current year. Women in Technology Advocate Award in association with NetSuite: This award will be presented to an individual who has demonstrated through their actions that they are an advocate for increasing participation by, and promotion of, women in the technology sector. Scale Up Award in association with Scale Ireland: This award recognises a company that has demonstrated an impressive ability to scale up/expand overseas over the last four years. Financial Services Innovation Award in association with Financial Services Ireland: This award recognises a company with an innovative product or service that is having a disruptive impact within the financial services industry. The Rising Star award in association with Enterprise Ireland: This award will recognise a company that has demonstrated a promising growth trajectory and the potential for inclusion in the Fast 50 rankings in years to come. Companies being considered for this award must have operating revenues accounting for a minimum of 2 years and less than 4 years. 2023 rankings 15 of the 50 companies ranked last year were first time winners. Fintech company Swoop, led by Andrea Reynolds, ranked first as the fastest growing technology company, after ranking fourth in 2022. Swoop is a global platform supporting SMEs by bringing their business data into one place to garner insights and instantly match them to eligible finance, as well as assess their spend on cost categories such as energy, banking and FX. Buymedia, led and founded by Fergal O'Connor, ranked fifth in 2023 and eighth in 2022. Buymedia is a data-driven platform that helps companies and agencies plan, manage and buy advertising. Andrea Reynolds, CEO, Swoop, said: "Ranking in the Fast 50 awards has brought us valuable brand recognition, in particular in the US, as Fast 50 is a globally recognised award. As we continue to grow Swoop, this recognition abroad is incredibly valuable. For the team in Swoop, it's an opportunity to pause and reflect on how far we've come, and this award ...

Thanks for all that chimed in and wanted to know more about Intuition from my episode last week with Dr. Sylvia. Our next week's episode has an element of Intuition in it, too. (with Richard Laver). So this solo episode elaborates on Intuition, how you amplify it and listen to it? Sometimes it screams at you to listen, but sometimes we silence it. It is such a useful tool. My question: Would you, if your young son or daughter came to you with an intuitive feeling or dream, would u listen to them and take it seriously? More on that in next week's episode. In this episode, Sara talks more about the gut, heart, brain connection. And how connected Intuition and that “gut feeling” is. The heart, brain and gut work in synchronicity. When all are aligned, you will get the “click-in” that makes you “know”. Do you ever get mad at yourself for not listening? Sara talks about a dream she had that actually predicted the future – it included a move to the San Francisco area, and her marriage blowing up. Which all wound up true. She also recently listened to her gut/intuition while on the mountain and it told her to proceed and ultimately avoided potential avalanches. We need to listen to the messages and be in tune to get that messaging. It is so important to listen to the internal rather than the external. Listen to you - not others. Sara reminds us that Complacency will kill. Do not be complacent with your intuition. Allow yourself to be courageous (Live Boldly!) and allow your gut to speak to you. Here are some ways to help listen and be in the quiet to allow messages to come in: Be still. Quiet your mind.  This doesn't mean you have to sit cross-legged on the floor. You can sit or you can move. You can be on the ocean, a nature walk, etc. Take a Chance on following your gut instinct- take a risk. The more you do this, it will heighten. Do Daily body scans. Sometimes fear and excitement live in the body and feel the same way. Your Intuition can say is it just my fear speaking? When it really feels like the messages are coming from within your body, then you know it's intuition.  Spend time outside. It helps quiet us, and also makes us open to listening within. Do a Technology Fast.  Again, the goal is to Quiet the mind so you can listen. Take away the constant stimulation on your phone and other devices. Ask your intuition a question. Don't just ask the brain, because fear can come in.  Journal writing . Or audio. You can talk into voice memos (such as Day One) The Arts – Art, music, dance, etc. Use your art as a means to foster the story you want to tell. Tap into intuition and bring forth that story. The more we tap into our Intuition, the stronger it will become. So, tap into it and create the life you love! Please share this with your friends and watch Sara on YouTube. Furthermore, I will reveal to you any personal investments I have in the investments mentioned herein. Additionally, quotes about individual companies are brief. Please go to this podcast's webpage for links to the actual articles for more company and stock information. Also, some companies might be covered more than once and there are also 4 article links below that time didn't allow me to review them here. ------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Impact, Solar, and ESG Stock Buys This first article lists three stocks, it says, are for the long-term sustainable investor. The title Building a Sustainable Portfolio: 3 ESG Stocks to Buy and Hold. It's by Josh Enomoto and found on investorplace.com. Here's some of what Mr. Enomoto says about his picks. “1. Iron Mountain (NYSE:IRM) An enterprise information management services firm, Iron Mountain focuses on records management and data backup and recovery services… According to Investor's Business Daily, Iron Mountain ranks as number 50 on its list of 100 best ESG companies of 2023. In particular, the information management specialist seeks to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040… Analysts rate shares a unanimous strong buy with a $67.20 price target. 2. Intuit (NASDAQ:INTU) Intuit can mitigate our pain through tax-related financial software… And it turns out, people appreciate Intuit for another reason: it's one of the ESG stocks to buy and hold… Per IBD, the software specialist places as number 58 on the top 100 conscientious companies for this year… Analysts peg Intuit as a strong buy with a $580.41 price target. 3. Clean Harbors (NYSE:CLH) A provider of environmental and industrial services… shares have soared robustly higher since the beginning of this year. Per its public profile, Clean Harbors focuses on myriad services, including hazardous waste disposal for companies, small waste generators, and government agencies… Clean Harbors slots in the number 39 spot on IBD's top 100 conscientious companies. Analysts rate Clean Harbors a consensus moderate buy with an average price target of $186.57.” End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Impact, Solar, and ESG Stock Buys My second article is unusual and you'll see why in a moment. It's titled These 5 small-cap impact stocks are making social change. Written by Ari Zoldan and found on marketbeat.com. Now some of what Mr. Zoldan says about the stocks that are specifically publicly listed. “1. Vision Marine Technologies (NASDAQ:VMAR) The company offers electric outboard motors for boats. Vision Marine enjoys a first-mover advantage, as its E-Motion outboard motor, announced at the Paris Boat Show in December 2022, is the only turnkey solution available to boat manufacturers… 2. Ideal Power (NASDAQ:IPWR)  The company offers a proprietary semiconductor switch that's much more energy-efficient than most other offerings on the market… [It] offers significant benefits to energy-efficient devices and products, electric vehicles and EV charging, green energy and energy storage, utility infrastructure, and data centers. 3. Verde Bioresins Verde Bioresins is expected to go public via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). [That company] TLGY Acquisition Corp. is trading under the ticker ‘TLGY,' but after the merger, its name will change, and Verde Bioresins will trade under the ticker ‘VRDE.' Verde's PolyEarthyleneTM bioresin is a high-performance alternative to many petroleum-based plastics… The company estimates the total addressable market for its product at around $300 billion, or roughly half of the total market for petroleum-based plastics. 4. Draganfly (NASDAQ:DPRO) Although it might seem like drones have only been around for the last five to 10 years or so, Draganfly has been in the business for over 20 years... Today, drones have many uses across multiple industries, including humanitarian efforts, public health and safety, military and government, environmental and energy-related industries, agriculture, and insurance. As a result, Draganfly's offerings present dozens of potential social impacts.” End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Impact, Solar, and ESG Stock Buys And now back to our familiar clean energy theme with this article titled 3 Clean Energy Stocks That Can Survive Anything. It's by Tyrik Torres and found on investorplace.com. Here are some quotes by Mr. Torres from his article on his recommended stocks. “1. Brookfield Renewable Partners (NYSE:BEP) is one of the largest renewable power companies in the world. Its portfolio boasts over 21,000 megawatts (MW) of capacity across hydroelectric, wind, solar, and storage facilities. The company is majority owned by Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE:BAM), an alternative investment manager equity firm… Higher interest rates have negatively impacted Brookfield Renewable Partners near-term share price growth. However, as clean energy stocks come back into favor, buying Brookfield Renewable Partners' [stock now] is a smart move. 2. First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) A number of earnings beats throughout 2023 should keep First Solar on clean energy investors' watchlists… First Solar announced a new manufacturing site in the U.S., adding to manufacturing capacity… First Solar could see its intrinsic growth rate boosted in the long term. 3. Ormat Technologies (NYSE:ORA) primarily engages in the geothermal and recovered-energy power business in the U.S., Indonesia, Kenya, Turkey, Chile, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Ethiopia, and Honduras. Last year, Ormat derived approximately 86% revenue from generating electricity through its geothermal plants and recovered energy-based power plants… With valuation multiples essentially halved since January, Ormat looks like an attractive investment opportunity.” End quotes. ------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Impact, Solar, and ESG Stock Buys With so many solar stocks down, this article might add some light to the gloom. It's titled 11 Most Undervalued Solar Stocks To Buy According To Hedge Funds. I found it on finance.yahoo.com and it's by Hamna Asim. Here are some quotes from his article. “We made an extensive list of the most popularly traded solar stocks and shortlisted 11 stocks with P/E ratios under 35 and the highest hedge fund sentiment. While some P/E ratios might seem high, they are lower than the green and renewable industry average P/E of 83, which was calculated by NYU Stern. We have assessed the hedge fund sentiment from Insider Monkey's database of 910 elite hedge funds tracked as of the end of the second quarter of 2023… [Note: P/E ratios are as of November 2.] 11. As we all know, one single market isn't enough for the potential that many companies have; instead, they become international from day 1 and there's no need in forgetting about submarkets either! Submarket planning needs different considerations than just focusing on your main markets or even more specifically what you're doing with them - because each country/region will want something slightly different depending upon where people live, e.g. ease of access vs quality. While researching a market, there are three best sources of information: peer companies, investors, and contractors/ambassadors in that market. BEST MOMENTS “The common mistakes that I see people making these days and having lived in had this be my job is really about planning and staying ahead of it instead of kind of going opportunistically or being in a little bit behind where you need to be. I see with the companies that I work with today a lot of times you can expand internationally without really intending to if you have a mobile app or business in that category. You can literally just click a button when you publish your app and be present in hundreds of countries.” “Most of the companies that I talk to are based in the US or found in the US and I think that even with such a large domestic market, the expectation is that if you're going to have aspirations to be a unicorn, you are not going to do that in one single market or just in the Americas. You need to be in Asia, you need to be in Europe and Latin America, and other regions in order to really maximize your global potential.” “In terms of international expansion, I see that companies going internationally sooner. I see a lot more companies being remote-first because we all had to be but I see a lot of companies being open to staying that way and organizing themselves much more in the decentralized manner and also talent is a lot harder to come by and I see companies opening their minds to hiring talent wherever they can find it. They are not so focused on finding people may be around where their offices located or living in the country.” “The very best source of information out there, my experience, is finding your peer, at a company that similar to yours has already gone into that market.” ABOUT THE HOST Levent Yildizgoren, the author of 'Good Business in any Language', is an award-winning entrepreneur, localisation professional, and a PRINCE2 qualified project manager. COVID-19 with its accompanying protocols such as living socially distanced has affected businesses and life as we know it. However, there is always an opportunity to pivot with the right resources and in this episode with Paresh Patel we will learn about "Touchless Technology in a Socially Distanced World.”   Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode:  To learn what Touchless Technology is. Discover how Touchless Technology can fit and benefit the business models of today.  Learn how Pay Range has been impacting people's lives and businesses.  Episode Highlights What is Touchless Technology    Paresh describes touchless technology as being able to send payment without having  touched a machine such as a laundering or vending machine.  PayRange was established in 2015 to eliminate unnecessary contacts with these kinds of machines.    Ahead of the game  Pay Range was developed well ahead of its game and is especially useful as we maneuver this pandemic in 2021. It uses a mobile application and dongle to allow customers to make payments virtually.  Necessity is the mother of invention and this holds true as it was a personal experience that motivated Patel to develop Pay Range.  Most, if not all people have a story of experiencing difficulty when using vending machines and Pay Range helps to limit these inconveniences.   Does Touchless Technology fit into the world of the digital divide? Paresh highlights that his product is mainly used by members of the underserved community; however, having a smart device makes them eligible to reap the benefits of the application. 3 Powerful Quotes from This Episode “Sometimes the people who are impacted most are the people with fewer options.” “I have everything I need.” “We innovated and found a way to make it all happen."   About Paresh Patel  Paresh  Patel is the Founder and CEO of PayRange, patented technology with over 3 million users worldwide. Pay Range allows smartphones to make touchless, socially distanced payments on any person, place, or thing. Paresh began his technology career in solving business problems at the tender age of 17 by applying technology in a previously unused manner to fix a broken soda machine.

055 | Ernie Bray Bootstrapped His Way to $17 Million in Revenue Ernie Bray is an award-winning Entrepreneur & CEO and expert on leadership, social media, entrepreneurship and business strategy. He led his company (AutoClaims Direct) to six annual rankings on the Inc. 5000, four years on Deloitte’s Technology Fast-500 and Entrepreneur’s “Best Entrepreneurial Companies In America". In addition to leading his insurance technology company, he is an author & speaker who believes in helping others build and drive their own success. Does it ever feel like your prospecting efforts are going nowhere? That every time you reach out to someone you’d love to work with, they tell you they’re not interested, or you hear crickets? Do you ever follow-up or do you just let things go? This week’s guest, Ernie Bray’s company had been around for over 20 years, but his success wasn’t instantaneous. Ernie had to work hard for every client and advancement he made. Ernie wasn’t interested in bringing on investors, so in the beginning he bootstrapped and would re-invest the money he made back into the business. For the first year in business, he personally made ZERO dollars! In the beginning, insurance companies weren’t interested in working with Ernie and his company because he had no reputation. They had no idea what he would bring to the table, which led Ernie to quickly learn that in order to get the YES’s he wanted, he had to start following up! It was with one of those consistent follow-ups that Ernie was able to eventually secure a large insurance carrier and has been working with them for over 7 years! If you’re tired of feeling like your prospect pipeline is empty and you’re ready to learn how to effectively follow-up, this episode of Success Unfiltered is a MUST LISTEN! Be sure to join us next week for our next new episode! P.S. How Do You Close More Deals And Make More Sales? It’s one of the easiest and most effective ways to close more deals, yet SO many business owners overlook it entirely. I’m talking about FOLLOW UP. Let me show you 7 ways that following up can explode your sales and change your business! Here are a few key secrets we talked about in this episode: Michelle introduces Ernie. Ernie shares a 30 second look into what he does. Ernie shares a quick look into how the claim process works for his company. Can you imagine bootstrapping a company  from nothing to $17M in revenue? Ernie’s done exactly this with his company. Ernie shares why he started in inside sales versus going right to outside sales. As a competitive athlete, Ernie tried to get promoted within his company to do outside sales, but he was turned down a few times, before he was eventually fired (he shares the full story). After inside sales, Ernie tried to become an insurance adjuster and did not enjoy the cubicle job. He tried to move up in the company by taking the test to be income management, however he failed by 2 points. This was the turning point when he decided to start his own business. Ernie shares what he does instead of sitting around and moping, when he hears a NO. When Ernie started his business he had no reputation so he kept hearing NO after NO. With no reputation to his name, Ernie would go to insurance conferences and networking events and get small meetings with companies. Ernie had a meeting with an insurance carrier in San Diego, they hired him to take on the most difficult area to work claims, and this was Ernie’s in. The reputation of his company and their success started to spread and others started giving them claims to work. Ernie had resilience, despite being told NO many times he kept ignoring them and remaining persistent and following-up. Ernie shares how worn down he felt at times when he wasn’t experiencing success. Ernie turned to his competitive athletic background to lift himself up, when things weren’t going well. Ernie’s most accomplished NO came when he had little reputation. A large insurance carrier told him that his company had something that others did not. They were under contract and couldn’t work with him at the time, but they did eventually come around. (This NO was worth almost $2 Million) Ernie shares his tried and true method for following-up with clients. After not loving sales earlier in his career, Ernie now really enjoys the process. Ernie had to flip the script and let a needy, overbearing client go. Ernie shares what he would tell his younger self.
