This episode features a conversation about the debates and land disputes surrounding the development of airports in Asia and Africa. As airport construction projects proliferate across the Global South – often seen as a fast-track to development and modernization – new tensions frequently emerge, particularly when it comes to the huge tracts of land required for these new infrastructures. My guests today have a new edited volume on this topic, Contested Airport Land: Social-Spatial Transformation and Environmental Injustice in Asia and Africa, just published by Routledge. That book was co-edited by Irit Ittner, Sneha Sharma, Isaac Khambule, and Hanna Geschewski. Unfortunately, Isaac – a professor of political economy at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa – had an urgent matter arise just before recording, so he was unable to join the conversation. But the other three co-editors were able to proceed with a wonderful conversation. Irit Ittner works as a senior researcher in the Programme Environmental Governance at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability in Bonn. Her research interests include unplanned urbanization, land tenure, social navigation, and processes of transformation in coastal West African and European cities. Sneha Sharma works as a Project Officer at Fairtrade International in Bonn after having conducted research at the University of Bonn (2015–2022). She is also the author of Waste(d) Collectors: Politics of Urban Exclusion in India (2022). Hanna Geschewski is a doctoral researcher in Human Geography at the Chr. Michelsen Institute and the University of Bergen in Norway. Her current research explores the socio-environmental dimensions of prolonged displacement, with a particular focus on agriculture, cultivation, and rural livelihoods of Tibetan refugees in South India. In addition to the co-editors, the episode also features Rose Bridger, who wrote the foreword to the volume. Rose is co-founder of the Map of Airport-related Injustice and Resistance and the Global Anti-Aerotropolis Movement. She is also the author of the book Plane Truth (Pluto Press, 2013). As listeners may know, for the past year, we at IIAS were planning a symposium entitled Aspirational Infrastructure Research: Mobilities, Airports, Place (AIR-MAP), which took place in Seoul on October 24-25. That event explored the aspirations and imaginaries surrounding airport mega-developments across the Global South, which have been relatively less examined compared to similar infrastructures in the Global North. On this episode of The Channel, the four guests touch on many of these themes as they discuss their new book as well as the motivations, ambitions, challenges, and outcomes that massive airport development entails.

Was meint ihr?

If you haven't automated your content process yet, you are literally throwing your valuable time out the window. By the end of reading this, I'm going to show you exactly how to automate your content, and calculate how much time/money it really saves you Let's use this simple workflow to illustrate how this works… Step 1.) You set up a Trello or project management tool to manage all of your content between you and your team Step 2.) The automation begins. Every time you drop a new “Raw video” file into your Gdrive or Dropbox, it automatically creates a new task inside of your project management tool (Via the tool itself or using something like Zapier) Step 3.) Once the video is completed it is moved into a “Completed and Archived Content” folder in your project management tool (Simply slide the card over it's easy). Once this this happens, it triggers another automation that places that completed content into an archive folder and organizes it by topic, created date, etc. Step 4.) Now at any point in time you can go back and easily search for content you've already created (The video and the copy). Not sure what to post about or have no new content ready? No worries, easily go through your archive list and snatch something up to post! Step 5.) Imagine by doing all of this you get back an additional hour per week. That's time with family, time with your team, time doing whatever you want to do! But imagine your hourly rate is 500/hr. That's $26,000 you just got back in your year but simply working SMARTER! Step 6.) Watch/listen to the full podcast/YouTube episode where Irit Levi breaks down ALL of this and much much more! She is a WIZARD at systems, processes and automation and she delivered! What's it like starting a business at the start of Covid? In this episode, we meet Irit, who served as an officer in the Israeli army and later loved managing a book store for fifteen years, something her grandfather started in Jerusalem in 1908. Spending her day surrounded by books was an experience, but the opportunity to interact with people and talk about literally anything made this an incredibly gratifying job. Her journey takes her to a start-up in the personal development niche, working primarily with moms who worked from home. Irit started a master's degree in education and cognitive behavior and became an  "instructional designer" writing training courses for software and loved it. "It fits my mind how to take a subject and simplify. I realized that I like organizing and simplifying the world around us. "Irit comes from an extended family of public servants, including her husband - she hasn't been surrounded by entrepreneurs all of her life. But as she shares earlier,  "I've always wanted to do things my way. I've always gone against the grain." She realizes that opening her own company was her dream, using her skills to "guide companies to understand, clarify and simplify their workflows.  "I put in a lot of work talking about what I love doing and what gives value to other people. It was never about me."  From sixty LinkedIn connections, she organically grew her network to over ten thousand in a relatively short period, growth that started with a post "don't work with MailChimp."Why is her work so important? "When you clarify and simplify what you do, it allows you to delegate the work, and then it frees you to do the things you love." Isn't this the reason why we all started our own business?

In this episode of CSM secrets, we have Irit Eizips, Chief Customer Officer and Chief Executive Officer at CSM Practice, a boutique consulting firm specializing in Customer Success strategy design and implementation services. Irit's relationship with Customer Success is as old as the onset of the movement itself. Back in 2013, when the Customer Success discipline was beginning to take shape, Irit worked at Gainsiight, and was part of the early crew who defined the customer success strategy and propelled the business world to embrace what we all call today as the new normal. With decades of strategy consulting, working with customers & executives alike, Irit has gathered so much wisdom and practical knowledge, which has now helped her venture develop numerous frameworks for Customer Success Methodologies. Key insights for us to take away from our conversation: 1) The gradual evolution of customer success as a strategic component, a center to prove value and build partnerships with customers, rather than a churn fighting center 2) The key metric that CS should focus on is Net Retention Rate, which incorporates the impact of upsells, cross sells in addition to churn and downsell. 3) A less noticed but a significant contributor to churn could be internal to the organization with multiple functions such as Sales, Marketing and CS working in Silos.. 4) The lack of a mature Sales to CS Handover process could be a cause of early churn and customer dissatisfaction. Companies should focus heavily on onboarding. 5) New-age companies might come not just with a superior product idea but also with other bells and whistles of which customer focus, customer success practice is an important element. And, how startups are able to take down large enterprises that completely miss the mark on customer success. 6) Her take on the future evolution of a robust tech stack for customer success and how a center of excellence for customer success is the new function to watch for in the future. 7) Key ‘must have's for junior CS candidates include the 3 As - Adaptability, accountability & Analytical skills. Now for the most surprising part. Her own favorite cartoon character is superwoman which according to her is the true portrayal of Customer success manager.    Finally, do not to miss the part where she speaks of her family of extremely strong and driven women that have inspired her to break all prototypes and define a charter and life of their own.    It's a truly inspiring story of courage passed on to generations.

Everyone tells five-year-old Shira Malka she looks just like her dad. She has his green eyes. But she’s never met him, because he died seven years before she was born. Shira was conceived through posthumous reproduction, where a child is created from the frozen sperm or eggs of a person who has died. The practice is banned in some places, tightly restricted in others. But Israel - a country that leads the world in assisted reproduction - is testing the boundaries on allowing this new method of family creation. Shira is a one of a small but growing number of children to be born through posthumous reproduction in Israel over the last two decades. Her grandmother, Julia Pozniansky describes how she struggled for seven years to fulfil her son’s dying wish to father a child and leave her a grandchild. She was helped by Irit Rosenblum, a family lawyer who specialises in these cases and has even created a legal tool document she called the ‘Biological Will’ that enables people to express their wishes about becoming a parent after death. Shira’s mother, Liat Malka discusses why posthumous reproduction was a good alternative for her to anonymous sperm donation. Irit is adamant that the state should be removing barriers to the practice and instead allowing those who die, and their bereaved loved ones, to continue their legacy. But the practice does have its critics and has generated headlines and national debate. Israeli bioethicist Vardit Ravitsky - professor at the University of Montreal and the President of the International Association of Bioethics - explores the ethical arguments on both sides of the issue, and describes how Israeli culture and Jewish tradition have allowed the country to become ‘a unique pressure cooker for allowing reproduction’. She debates the subject with the fiercest critic she knows - her son. Producer/presenter: Viv Jones Editor: Penny Murphy (Photo: Shira and Liat Malka, courtesy of the family)

It seems counter intuitive that a company can do this. Most of us might think customers would want more service, more hands-on service, and more personalized service. But guess what? Mary listened to customers and guess what they said. Just guess. They said, "We want you to help us be more self-sufficient." Mary listened. SONIC ACTS FESTIVAL 2019 – HEREAFTER Irit Rogoff – Becoming Research 22 February – De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam, The Netherlands with an introduction by Lucas van der Velden. 'Research' as we experience it now in both institutional and culturally active contexts has moved away from stable bodies of knowledge to be excavated as well as away from recognised subjects whose validity is universally recognised. ‘Research’ models emanating from practice have ceased to be the context or the preparation for work and have become the main event of activity. These have had significant impact on so many arenas of knowledge production across the humanities and the social sciences and have countered the bordering and continents of knowledge towards platforms of shared subjectivity. ‘Research’ is now the arena in which we negotiate knowledge that we have inherited with the conditions of our lives. Those conditions, whether economic, geographical or propelled by subjectivity, have become the drive (not the subject matter) of the work. Through immersion in conditions, ‘research’ transforms from an investigative impulse to the constitution of new realities. It is thus that we recognise that ‘research’ is not some elevated activity requiring a great deal of prior knowledge, nor is it simply the urge to ‘find things out’. It is in many ways the stuff of daily life. The forms of current research have equally shifted, as contemporary, multivalent ‘research’ moves between archival, documentary, conceptual and performative modes, and utilises everything from fictioning, docu-dramatising to mimicry the queer animation of archives and structural self-instituting to produce new realities of knowledge. Irit Rogoff is a writer, teacher, theorist and curator. She is Professor of Visual Culture at Goldsmiths, University of London, a department she founded in 2002. Rogoff works at the meeting ground between contemporary practices, politics and philosophy. Her current work is on new practices of knowledge production and their impact on modes of research, under the title of Becoming Research (forthcoming). As part of the collective freethought, Rogoff was one of the artistic directors of The Bergen Assembly, 2016 and editor of The Infrastructural Condition published in its wake. Rogoff is also co-founder of The European Forum for Advanced Practices in 2017. Her publications include Looking Away – Participating Singularities, Ontological Communities (2013), Visual Cultures as Seriousness (2013) (with Gavin Butt), Unbounded: Limits’ Possibilities (2012), Terra Infirma: Geography’s Visual Culture (2000).
