In this episode of BOAT Briefing, Caroline sits down with BOAT's business editor Gabrielle Lazaridis to discuss the fate of sanctioned superyacht Amadea, after a US judge dismissed an attempt to halt the vessel's forfeiture to the US Justice Department. They also touch on Trump's recently enacted steel and aluminium tariffs, and how this is expected to disrupt the yachting industry, along with a sneak peek at the record number of superyachts attending this year's Palm Beach show, which could very well become the US's number one showcase for large yachts.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 4: According to Shannon Thaler of The New York Post, “The US government asked a judge for permission to sell a $300 million Russian superyacht seized in 2022 — citing the fact that it's been costing taxpayers $600,000 a month to maintain. The hefty monthly tab includes $360,000 in payments to the 348-foot vessel's crew, plus $75,000 for fuel and $165,000 in other maintenance, like waste removal and food…The superyacht, called Amadea, reportedly belongs to Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, an alleged money launderer sanctioned by the US in 2018 as one of several oligarchs who profited from the Kremlin ‘through corruption and its malign activities around the globe, including the occupation of Crimea.'” You can read the article here: https://nypost.com/2024/02/14/business/seized-russian-yacht-faces-sale-over-600k-monthly-costs-covered-by-taxpayers/ An abbreviated hour of The Rich Zeoli Show due to college basketball— the Temple Owls take on the Florida Atlantic Owls.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (02/15/2024): 3:05pm- On Thursday, a hearing was held to determine whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against former President Donald Trump. According to allegations, Willis engaged in an improper, romantic relationship with the lead prosecutor of the case, Nathan Wade—paying him an estimated $650,000 in taxpayer money. Willis is also alleged to have directly derived financial benefit from the relationship with Wade in the form of several extravagant vacations. During the hearing, Robin Yeartie—a longtime friend of Willis—testified that Willis and Wade had a romantic relationship dating back to 2019. 3:20pm- Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has taken the stand to testify in a hearing to determine whether she should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against former President Donald Trump. Reacting to Nathan Wade's earlier testimony, Federal and White Collar Defense Attorney Caroline Polisi told MSNBC that “if things are going in the direction we think, Fani Willis lied to the court. It's game over for her. She will be disqualified.” 3:40pm- Flashback: In 2020, while speaking with The Atlanta Voice, Fani Willis explained why Georgians should support her efforts to become District Attorney of Fulton County—ironically explaining “because they deserve a DA that won't have sex with his employees. Because they deserve a DA that won't put money in their pocket.” 3:50pm- During his testimony on Thursday to determine if a conflict of interest exists in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump, Nathan Wade told the court that he and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis would regularly travel from Atlanta, Georgia to Tennessee for lunch—and nothing else. But according to Apple Maps, the drive around lunchtime would take roughly 4 hours with traffic. 4:05pm- On Thursday, a hearing was held to determine whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against former President Donald Trump. While being questioned by Trump's attorney Ashleigh Merchant, Willis was so adversarial that Judge Scott F. McAfee had to warn Willis that he would strike her testimony if she didn't begin directly answering the questions presented to her. After a 5-minute court break, Willis was asked about her financial situation—she complained about having to spend $50,000 of her own money in an unsuccessful campaign to become a member of the Fulton County Superior Court. 4:20pm- Richard Fausset of The New York Times writes: “Fani Willis's testimony has a number of audiences: Judge McAfee, who will decide whether she should be disqualified from the Trump election case; the voters of Fulton County, who will decide whether to re-elect her to a second term later this year; the Fulton County residents who could serve on the Trump trial jury; and people around the country, who have to make up their mind about the legitimacy of her prosecution.” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/02/15/us/fani-willis-trump-hearing/eb0398e0-1383-501c-85ec-13b34ee84fe4?smid=url-share 4:30pm-Richard Faust of The New York Times writes: “Fani Willis says her physical relationship with Nathan Wade ended before former President Trump and his allies were indicted by her office in August 2023.” At another point, while being questioned by Donald Trump's lawyer Steve Sadow, Willis said that although Wade paid for several trips the two took together but she always repaid him in cash—she was unable to provide proof of the reimbursement. Faust continues: “In response to more questions about their spending, Fani Willis, the district attorney, said that when they were dating, Nathan Wade ‘told me one time the only thing a woman can do for him is make him a sandwich. We would have brutal arguments about the fact that I am your equal.' She added, ‘There was tension always in our relationship, which is why I would give him his money back. I don't need anybody to foot my bills.'” You can read more here: https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/02/15/us/fani-willis-trump-hearing/8ed09cb1-2747-596f-8571-4024686b7aca?smid=url-share 4:45pm- According to NBC Chief White House Correspondent Peter Alexander, Special Counsel Robert Hur never brought up the death of Beau Biden when he interviewed President Joe Biden as part of his investigation into the mishandling of classified documents. Alexander emphasized: “Hur never asked that question.” President Biden had publicly admonished Hur for asking about his son despite it having nothing to do with the investigation. 5:05pm- On Thursday, a hearing was held to determine whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against former President Donald Trump. According to allegations, Willis engaged in an improper, romantic relationship with the lead prosecutor of the case, Nathan Wade—paying him an estimated $650,000 in taxpayer money. During the hearing, Robin Yeartie—a longtime friend of Willis—testified that Willis and Wade had a romantic relationship dating back to 2019. 5:20pm- Judge Scott F. McAfee announced the hearing to determine whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the Georgia election interference case she brought against former President Donald Trump has ended for the day. It will resume at 9am ET on Friday. 5:30pm- While appearing on Fox News with Jesse Waters, reporter Michael Shellenberger speculated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) may have raided former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home to retrieve a binder which included classified details on the Obama Administration's potentially unlawful surveillance of the Trump campaign. 5:40pm- Richard Faust of The New York Times writes: “Fani Willis says her physical relationship with Nathan Wade ended before former President Trump and his allies were indicted by her office in August 2023.” At another point, while being questioned by Donald Trump's lawyer Steve Sadow, Willis said that although Wade paid for several trips the two took together but she always repaid him in cash—she was unable to provide proof of the reimbursement. The letters, obtained by The New York Times, show that a top Justice Department official rejected complaints from Mr. Biden's lawyers about disparaging comments in the report regarding the president.” You can read the full report here: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/15/us/politics/joe-biden-special-counsel.html 6:05pm- According to Shannon Thaler of The New York Post, “The US government asked a judge for permission to sell a $300 million Russian superyacht seized in 2022 — citing the fact that it's been costing taxpayers $600,000 a month to maintain. Kathleen opens the show drinking a Warbeard Irish Red Ale from Walnut River Brewing. She's excited to tell the Termites about her recent show in Salina Kansas with her teen idol, Shaun Cassidy, who turned out to be a wonderful person. She reviews her breakfast “Screwdriver Slush” from Spangles restaurant and stopped at the Wizard of Oz Museum in Wamego, KS on her way back home to Missouri. Kathleen then describes the events of Father's Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks, participating in the annual Father's Day golf tournament with her dad and sister. “GOOD BAD FOOD”: In her quest for new and delicious not-so-nutritious junk food AND in continuing her search for the best Ranch, Kathleen samples Wishbone Champagne Vinaigrette dressing, which she thinks is WAY too sweet and tangy. She moves on to sample Ranch Wheat Thins, which she doesn't think taste at ALL like Ranch. She finishes her tasting with Kansas's own Art's & Mary's Tater Chips, which she thinks have fantastic crunch and flavor. QUEEN'S COURT: Kathleen updates the Termites on the activities of the queens: Queen Dolly has given $1M to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital for pediatric infectious diseases research, Stevie Nicks closed out Bonnaroo Sunday night and finishing this leg of her tour, and Chaka Khan and Queen Tanya Tucker are both having a blast out on tour. UPDATES: Kathleen gives updates on the stolen Hollywood chimp found in a Missouri basement, Russia's new McDonalds roll-out, Russian superyacht Amadea is confiscated in Fiji, McDonald's dumps the McPlant burger, Anna Delvey mints 2,000 NFT's to sell, and Kathleen digs further into Teal Swan's beginnings and marketing platform. “HOLY SHIT THEY FOUND IT”: Kathleen is amazed to read about the discovery of the “The Depiction of the Madonna and Child,” Renaissance-era painting in a 90-year-old woman's London bedroom, and the origin of the Black Death in northern Kyrgyzstan, and a woolly mammoth tusk was found off the banks of Alaska's Koyukuk River.FAKING JOAN OF ARC: Kathleen laughs while reading an article about a Medieval woman who made a living pretending to be Joan of Arc. Claude des Armoises's ploy lasted four years, earned her a great deal of cash—and almost ensnared the King of France himself.ARMADILLOS CONTINUE THEIR MARCH: Kathleen is fascinated to watch the migration of armadillos in the US, so much so that she talks about it in her act. She reads an article about the mystery behind this migration, as Armadillos have now been seen as north as Virginia. SAFEST COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD: Kathleen reads the 2022 list of Safest Countries in the World, with Iceland taking the top spot this year. GAME STOP WALK-OUT: Kathleen is amused reading an article about mass walk-outs by GameStop employees, citing unhealthy work conditions. GEICO ORDERED TO PAY WHEN STD CONTRACTED IN A CAR: Kathleen shakes her head in disbelief when reading an article advising that a Missouri woman was awarded $5.2 million in a settlement from insurance company GEICO after contracting a sexually transmitted disease from her partner in his vehicle, which was insured by the company, court documents show.THE AMERICAN WHO INVENTED THE DONUT: Kathleen shares the story of Maine mariner Captain Hanson Gregory, who as a teenage galley boy, turned a poorly cooked blob of sailors' sustenance into the iconic, ring-shaped, and deep-fried delicacy we know and love today. WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEK: Kathleen recommends watching the new Season 6 of “Peaky Blinders” on Netflix, and Teal Swan's documentary “The Deep End” on Hulu.SEE KATHLEEN LIVE: See Kathleen live on her “Do You Have Any Ranch?” Tour. A 348-foot superyacht tied to a Russian billionaire is now ported in Honolulu amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. The Russian-owned yacht called “Amadea” was seized by U.S. officials and sailed in Honolulu Harbor just before 11 a.m. The vessel had been moored in Fiji, before the U.S. began targeting assets of Russian oligarchs with ties to Vladimir Putin due to the war in Ukraine. On Tuesday, the U.S. won a ruling in Fiji's Supreme Court to take control of the ship. This came after local officials said keeping the yacht ported was “costing their government dearly,” Bloomberg reported. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The perplexing saga of the Russian superyacht which sailed into Fiji waters has finally come to an end. The Amadea is now en route to the United States, after Fiji's courts ordered its removal.
In this latest Fiji news: Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama calls for regional solidarity; Russian super yacht, Amadea, has left Fiji waters after being given the green light by the Supreme Court.

In this latest Fiji news: Fiji's Director of Public Prosecution says the Russian superyacht Amadea should be allowed to leave Fijian waters; People's Alliance Leader Sitiveni Rabuka clarifies about his recent trip to India.
Introducing Superyacht AMADEA The 106.1m Amadea was built by Lurssen in Germany at their Rendsburg shipyard. Her interior is styled by French designer design house Zuretti and she was delivered to her owner in March 2017. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Espen Oeino. Amadea has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests in 8 suites including one VIP cabin. The supremely spacious full beam master suite incorporates its own study and dressing room as well as a his and her bathroom. She is also capable of carrying up to 36 crew onboard. Her features include separate crew passageway, beauty salon, movie theatre, underwater lights, gym, large swimming pool, and a foredeck helipad. Amadea is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU 5,766hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 20 knots with a range of up to 8,000 nautical miles from her 392,000 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots. Amadea features at-anchor stabilizers supplying exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 77,000 Litres of fresh water. Superyacht Amadea has hit the headlines recently as it is currently in the centre of a legal battle between the US authorities and the Investment firm that claims to own it. Having arrived in Fiji on April 12th, the Superyacht has cost the Island Nation a total of $5 Million for its upkeep to date, roughly translating to 1% of the country's entire health budget. The US claims that the yacht is owned by Suleiman Kerimov, one of the wealthiest billionaires in Russia, estimated to be worth $16 Billion US. As Kerimov is reported to have close ties with Putin, he is currently on the Sanction List. Tune in again next week when Yachting International Radio Introduces another Superyacht. American officials have seized a multimillion dollar super yacht moored in Fiji because of its links to a sanctioned Russian oligarch and so called dirty money. The US blacklisted Suleimon Kerimov saying he has profited from the Russian government through corruption and malign activity around the globe. The 106-metre Amadea yacht worth about NZ$467 million has been moored in Lautoka after arriving in Fiji from Mexico on April 12. A Fiji court issued a warrant following a request from the US and local police help board the super yacht. The Justice Department has warned it will be relentless to accountable those facilitating the death and destruction in Ukraine. RNZ Pacific's correspondent Lice Movono talks to Lisa Owen.
Fiji's High Court has ruled in favour of a bid by the United States government and Fijian authorities to seize a Russian-owned superyacht.
High court rules that superyacht Amadea can be seized by the US but the defence is granted time to apply for a stay which could lead to an appeal, and a major tuna processing plant being built in Solomon Islands is projected to create more than 5,000 jobs.
Join me as I interview Amadea Morningstar, a shining star in Ayurveda and Food & Healing for 40 + years. She is the creator of Ayurveda Polarity & Yoga Institute in Sante Fe, New Mexico. She is committed to teaching both Ayurveda in all its holistic and component parts (everything is Ayurvedic!) and polarity therapy, a hands-on healing system designed to enable the body to regain its natural state of balance. Amadea is a prolific author. Her most well-known book is Ayurvedic Cooking along with Ayurvedic Cooking for Westerners. Her most recent book is titled Easy Healing Drinks from the Wisdom of Ayurveda, Delicious and Nourishing Recipes for all Seasons. Her blog has been voted in the top 30 in the Ayurveda category - she marries a variety of topics with Ayurveda including: recipes and food; politics; women's health; inclusion and diversity; sustainability; living by yogic and Buddhist principles. Wow, what a commitment she has made to helping us heal!In this interview we take a deep dive into two traditional recipes (one is recognizably American comfort food; the other a Middle Eastern dish). Amadea shows us how to play with a recipe and make it a complete Ayurvedic dish and from there, a complete Ayurvedic meal. This exercise is a prelude for Amadea's upcoming course: Dynamics of Ayurvedic Nutrition: Adapt Recipes for Individual & Cultural Needs. What's beautiful about the way Amadea teaches us to how "to play" with a recipe is that it still adheres to its ethnic roots, its cultural integrity with the "add-ons" that Ayurveda deems important: delicious, nourishing, easy to digest, easy to assimilate, easy to evacuate, bringing bliss to your mind-body-spirit. Amadea also touches on her current interest in racial inclusion and diversity. She recently completed a seven-week "Inclusion as Medicine Course," leading participants through each of the chakras as a pathway to begin healing our biases, subtle and not so subtle. We conclude with a series of rapid-fire questions:What do the words patience and persistence mean for you?Now that our lives have become more virtual – meaning our connections are also more virtual – one suggestion for thriving in this new virtual reality? What are the top three tips you can offer that are simple, yet profoundly healing? What does the term “wise woman” mean to you?Your favorite book on Ayurveda (besides your own)? You are obviously a big reader. What you are currently reading? Your opinion on what it will take for Ayurveda to infiltrate our modern life – the way Yoga has – in the U.S.?Find Amadea: https://amadeamorningstar.net/
Former Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General Dame Meg Taylor says Pacific governments should include climate change discussions when negotiating with foreign powers, and Pacific Islanders in Australia weigh in on a proposed pathway to citizenship.
A legal battle is unfolding in Fiji's courts over the Russian superyacht Amadea, which authorities say belongs to Russian oligarch, Suleiman Kerimov.
Political researcher Geejay Milli says Papua New Guinea's two-week delay in electoral process is caused by government's unpreparedness, and a maritime law expert breaks down the legal drama in Fiji over the Russian superyacht Amadea.
Fate of superyacht Amadea, which docked in Fiji and faces international sanctions, could be decided by the end of the week; and Fijiana Drua makes history as Super W rugby champions.
In this latest Fiji news: Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) says there were certain breaches by the crew onboard the Amadea superyacht upon entering Fiji's Exclusive Economic Zone; Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says he is fed up with the lies of the National Federation Party and The People's Alliance Party leaders.
Fiji Opposition leader Viliame Gavoka says the country is not a safe haven for Russian oligarchs amid reports authorities have seized superyacht Amadea after it docked in Lautoka, and the International Seabed Authority says it's still considering an exploration permit for Tuvalu despite the nation backtracking its support of the controversial practice.
Fiji police have seized and questioned the captain of a superyacht believed to be owned by a Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov. The Amadea arrived to Lautoka port last Tuesday, without customs clearance.
A sanctioned Russian oligarch's superyacht is reportedly refuelling in Fiji this week before returning to its home port and authorities here expect that's the closest any will come to New Zealand. Marine traffic logs show the superyacht Amadea is due to arrive in Fiji on 13 April, although it's unlikely the owner is onboard - that's the gold producer and alleged money launderer Suleiman Kerimov, who is on United States, British and European Union sanctions list. Superyacht agents here say they won't assist any Russian-owned vessels into our waters whether or not they're sanctioned. Amy Williams has the story.

Why are some topics too “taboo” to talk about? Did you know, One in four women over the age of 18 experience episodes of leaking urine involuntarily? Or that one-third of women experience pain during sex? Those two things alone can impact not only your health and fitness but also your mental health, confidence, self-esteem, and quality of living. If we created more awareness around topics such as these, more people would realize that there is a cure and a way to live life free of pain and discomfort. Amadea Kezar is a certified physiotherapist and member of the Ordre Professional de la Physiothérapie du Québec (OPPQ). She holds a Master's degree in physiotherapy from McGill University and has 11 years of expertise in pelvic floor dysfunction for men, women, and the transgender community. She is also the founder of ASK Physiothérapie, a pelvic health clinic treating urinary, anorectal, and pre-post natal dysfunction as well as persistent pelvic and genital pain. On this episode of the Fall In Love with Fitness podcast, Amadea and I discuss why she loves helping women who experience pain during sex, how she became an expert in the pelvic floor, and why we should create awareness around pelvic issues.

Amadea Kezar runs the ASK Physiothérapie clinic on Green and St-Catherine's in Montreal and she invited me to her office so that we could talk about all things pelvis. The pelvis is essentially at the receiving end of the brain and nervous system so there is no wonder that our pelvic muscles and organs, genitals and evacuation system are entirely affected by patterns of fear and stress, post-partum and everyday habits. Amadea is on a mission to bring awareness and healing to these intimate parts. So many people today experience pain with sex and are understandably afraid or embarrassed to talk about it. So many women have issues with post-partum recovery that can take a toll on their wellbeing. We go right into the shame behind pain and the concrete solution Amadea uses to facilitate healing. We talk extensively about the vagina and specific sensitive areas where her patients can feel discomfort. Amadea talks me through what a typical appointment with her would look like and we cover all the bases such as douching and waxing and ways in which partners can get involved in the conversation about intimacy, pain and our pelvis'. We are incredibly lucky to have people like Amadea and her team of therapists out there in the world, educating and spreading awareness about the pelvis because as I learned, these issues are so widespread and have such an impact on our intimate lives. Bottom line, we are entitled to feel safe, and to feel pleasure, and to feel well in our bodies at any given time. This conversation may be triggering for some so please use your discretion. Amadea is the COO of Pex, an LA-based video and music search engine with a fingerprinting technology that identifies reused content – even if it's a half-second sample in a remix, a GIF, or your song's melody in a cover video – across the whole web. This enables rights holders to understand the virality of their content, and claim copyrighted material at scale. On this Music Growth Talks episode, Amadea explained how Pex works, why their solution is more precise than YouTube's Content ID, and how Pex is opening the platform to indie creators. With data showing that 99% of fan engagement comes from reposted versions of popular artists' content, understanding where these reposts happen becomes more important than ever. As Amadea said, "it's no longer a one-platform game out there". Indeed, you have little control over your music or video popping up on the likes of Tik Tok or Giphy (and to be clear, most of you want that to be happening). We also talked about the recently approved by EU Copyright Directive's Article 13 (now Article 17), and its effect on the creative world. Listen to the episode in full to learn more about Pex, Article 13, and why the music industry has largerly moved from taking down user-generated content in the recent years. ⏯ Go to http://dottedmusic.com/2019/podcast/mgt133-amadea-choplin for the show notes and http://musicgrowthtalks.com to subscribe to the podcast.
