Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! In today's episode, host Hunter guides us through day 278 of our Bible reading journey. We begin with the dramatic opening chapters of Esther, where God's hand is at work behind the scenes, even when His name isn't mentioned. We then lift our voices with the glorious praise of Psalm 150 before encountering powerful lessons from Jesus in Luke 17: forgiveness, the surprising nature of faith, and the coming of God's kingdom. Along the way, Hunter reminds us that, just as in Esther's story, God is orchestrating the details of our lives—even when it's hard to see in the moment. So let's open our hearts, kindle our faith, and look forward to that ultimate “Aha!” moment when everything becomes clear. Join us as we read, reflect, and pray together—finishing this year strong in God's love, one day at a time. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There's an Aha moment coming. Things are happening behind the scenes in human history. God's at work, but often, in the moment, it doesn't look that way. But rest assured, he's expertly arranging his story to work out just as he planned. And one day, there's going to be a giant Aha moment, and it's going to become very clear. Esther reminds us of this in this amazing little book. God's name is never mentioned, and yet his hand is seen in every word and every line. And when we look at it from the end, when we see it from its conclusion, it becomes so obvious to us. Then it's one giant, massive Aha. Of course, look how God was arranging things. Look how he was scheduling things just so. It's not just true in Esther's life—our lives are like that, too. It may not be so obvious in the moment, but in the end, when our life and story conclude, we will see that he was there the whole time. We will have that Aha moment. We will see and we will know, and we will be known. So it is in human history itself. When it concludes, we will see that God was at work through it all. It will be like no other Aha moment the world has ever known when we see the kingdom of God fully arrived. Until then, we can live with that Aha moment in mind. That's what living by faith is. It's trusting in God, even when it doesn't seem like he's here and it's not obvious that he's at work. That's why we come to the Word of God every day. Esther and the prophets are reminding us that there is an Aha coming. If we pay close attention and we look at the Word carefully, we can see glimpses of what he's up to. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen. It gives us assurance about things we cannot see. God is at work. His hand is all over your story, right there in the thick of it. It's hard to see sometimes, hard to recognize most times. But at the story's conclusion, it's one giant Aha. Of course, God, you are with me all the time. You never let me go. Live with this perspective today—that there's an Aha coming. Hold closely to the Word, to the living Word. Let it drive you to the living Word until that day comes. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. Inspired by the voices of prophets like Haggai and Zechariah, who urged the people to rebuild in the name of their God, Hunter joined Zerubbabel and Jeshua in rekindling the effort to reconstruct the Temple. Their work soon attracted attention from the authorities: Tataniah, the governor west of the Euphrates, accompanied by his associates, challenged the project, demanding to know who had authorized the reconstruction. Despite the obstacles and scrutiny, Hunter and his companions persevered, guided by faith and the encouragement of the prophets—striving to restore both their temple and their community spirit. So, grab your Bible, settle in, and let's walk this path of faith together today. Absolutely! Here are 10 thoughtful discussion questions based on the October 3rd, 2025 episode of the Daily Radio Bible: Reflecting on Ezra 5-6, what stood out to you about the rebuilding of the Temple and the challenges the Jews faced? How did God's intervention influence the outcome? In Psalm 138, David expresses deep gratitude and trust in God's faithfulness. Are there recent moments in your life where you experienced God's faithfulness in a personal way? In Luke 16, Jesus shares the parable of the shrewd manager. What lessons do you think Jesus wanted us to learn about stewardship, honesty, and the use of worldly resources? The story of the rich man and Lazarus highlights issues of wealth, privilege, and compassion. How do you see these themes playing out in your own life or in your community? Hunter discusses being blinded by riches and what it means to ‘forget your name.' In practical terms, what are ways we can guard our hearts against spiritual blindness or self-centeredness? What role do faith and trust play in our interactions with others, especially those in need, as reflected in the teachings of this episode? The episode highlights “the named ones”—those remembered in scripture for their faith. Who are the ‘named ones' in your own spiritual journey that inspire you? Hunter encourages listeners to take care of both body and soul. How do you balance spiritual and physical well-being in your daily life? Prayer is central to this episode. How has prayer—either through traditional prayers like the Lord's Prayer, or your own spontaneous prayers—shaped your relationship with God? The episode ends with the reminder that ‘you are loved.' How does knowing and internalizing God's love change the way you approach daily challenges and relationships? Feel free to use these questions for personal reflection or group discussion! Certainly! This episode weaves together Scripture reading, reflection, prayer, and practical life encouragement, offering both spiritual insight and daily life application for listeners. Today we dove deep into the wisdom of Ezra, Psalms, and Luke, exploring how faith, gratitude, and humility can transform both our personal and professional lives. We learned that true success isn't measured by wealth or status, but by the richness of our soul and our generosity toward others. Remember: Invest in what truly matters—your character, your purpose, and your impact on those around you. Let every day be an opportunity to build lasting value, both in business and in life. Absolutely! Here's a LinkedIn post inspired by the October 3rd, 2025 episode of the Daily Radio Bible podcast: On today's episode of the Daily Radio Bible, I was reminded of the power of faith, perspective, and gratitude. Hunter took us through passages from Ezra, Psalms, and Luke—forming a moving meditation on humility, spiritual focus, and the value of small, daily investments in our souls. Here are three key takeaways that resonated with me: Guard against the blindness of privilege: The story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16) serves as a reminder not to let wealth or comfort blind us to our own need for God or the needs of others. Faithfulness in little things matters: Whether it's tending to the tasks at hand, caring for your health, or nurturing your relationships—Hunter encourages us to value the daily “little things” that shape our character. Invest in what truly pays off: As Hunter beautifully put it, spending time listening, reflecting, and drawing near to God is an investment that yields lifelong dividends, unlike many of the distractions that vie for our attention. Let's prioritize what's truly valuable—both in our spiritual journeys and our day-to-day routines. Have you made time lately for what matters most? #DailyRadioBible #Faith #PersonalGrowth #SpiritualWellness #Gratitude Subject: Feasting with the Named Ones – DRB Newsletter for October 3, 2025 Dear DRB Family, Grace and peace to you on this beautiful October day! As always, thank you for joining us on our daily journey through the Bible. Our latest episode, "October 3rd, 2025," is now available, and we're so glad you could share in this time around the warmth of God's love. Today's Readings: Ezra 5-6 Psalm 138 Luke 16 Highlights from This Episode In today's reading, we revisited the incredible story of how faith, perseverance, and God's providence enabled the Israelites to rebuild the temple amidst opposition. As we learned from Ezra, even earthly kings like Cyrus and Darius can become surprising instruments in God's redemption story. Psalm 138 reminded us of God's constant faithfulness, while in Luke 16, Jesus offered the stirring parable of the rich man and Lazarus. A Reflection on Names, Riches, and Faith Host Hunter shared a poignant meditation on the difference between the “named ones” and the nameless in Jesus's story. While the rich man in the parable was left without a name—lost in his riches and blind to his need for God—Lazarus was named, honored, and welcomed at Abraham's side. The reminder for us: our trust belongs not in wealth or reputation, but in the God who raises the humble and knows us by name. Let us nurture hearts that recognize our need for God and rejoice in the gifts—both earthly and eternal—that He freely gives. Daily Encouragement Hunter also encouraged us to move our bodies in gratitude for the life we have, just as we invest time nourishing our souls with Scripture. Whether it's a walk outdoors, a gentle stretch, or simply deep breaths of fresh air, these moments can remind us of God's presence. Let's Pray Together As always, this episode closed with heartfelt prayers of thanksgiving, intercession, and the Lord's Prayer—rooting us in God's goodness and mercy each new day. Action Steps: Take some time today to move your body and thank God for the life and breath you've been given. Reflect on the ways God has named and loved you, regardless of your circumstances. Invite someone to listen to today's episode and join our community of daily Bible readers. Thank you for investing these precious moments into your soul. Until next time, remember: you are loved. The good news is that God's Word offers wisdom for recovery and direction when we stumble.Learning from FailureScripture reminds us that falling isn't the end for those who walk with God:“For the righteous falls seven times and rises again” (Proverbs 24:16).“For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you” (Psalm 86:5).“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God … and it will be given him” (James 1:5).Failure can be a stepping stone when we let God guide us forward. With that encouragement, here are 10 financial mistakes to avoid—and biblical wisdom to help you course-correct.1. Borrowing from Your 401(k)It feels like “borrowing from yourself,” but it often masks overspending or debt. While repaying, you may miss out on employer matches and the compounding growth that comes with them. Worse, leaving your job could trigger taxes and penalties.2. Claiming Social Security Too EarlyStarting at 62, benefits are reduced by up to 30%—for life. If possible, wait until full retirement age (or beyond) for a larger monthly check that lasts as long as you do.3. Only Paying the Minimum on Credit CardsA $5,000 balance at 20% interest can take nearly a decade to pay off with minimum payments, costing more than $8,000 in interest. Pay extra and utilize debt payoff strategies, such as the snowball or avalanche method.4. Delaying Retirement SavingsCompound interest rewards the early saver. Even small contributions in your 20s can grow into a significant nest egg. Don't panic if you're starting late—just start now.5. Overextending Yourself for Your KidsHelping with college, weddings, or down payments shouldn't jeopardize your own financial stability. Generosity is good, but if you sacrifice retirement now, you may depend on your kids later.6. Going It Alone Without Wise CounselMany sell low during downturns because they lack guidance. Proverbs 15:22 says, “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” Seek out wise, faith-based financial advice.7. Co-Signing a LoanScripture warns: “One who lacks sense gives a pledge and puts up security in the presence of his neighbor” (Proverbs 17:18). About 40% of co-signers end up paying the loan themselves. Be wise in your generosity.8. Quitting School Too SoonEducation—whether a four-year degree, trade school, or certification—equips you with marketable skills. Think of it as an investment in your future, not just a cost.9. Buying a TimeshareTimeshares are marketed as affordable luxury, but often come with steep fees, little flexibility, and low resale value. They're rarely the “investment” they claim to be.10. Falling for ScamsScammers prey on fear, urgency, and greed. Whether through fake calls, emails, or investment pitches, their goal is always the same—to separate you from your money. Be vigilant and discerning.Walking Forward in FreedomJesus warned His disciples: “I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves” (Matthew 10:16).Wise stewardship isn't about never failing—it's about learning, leaning on God's wisdom, and moving forward faithfully. With His help, you can recover from mistakes and grow into a more faithful steward of His resources.———————————————————————————————————————At FaithFi, we believe money is a tool to advance God's Kingdom. Enter the Glory Zone with Dr. Edith Davis - The Secret of Successfully Reaching Your Destiny - The Guide for Spiritual Believ

Dr. Edith Davis takes listeners beyond the fundamental laws of faith and confession to reveal the essential secret to walking in the full manifestation of God's finished work: Intimacy. While fundamental principles like confession, forgiveness, and avoiding offense are necessary "guardrails," they are not the "end game." Dr. Davis challenges listeners to move from simple knowledge and religious activity to a profound, personal relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Key Components for Manifestation: -- It's a Finished Work, But People Are Still Perishing: God has already provided everything, but a lack of intimacy and knowledge is causing God's people to die "like mere men." -- Intimacy is the Essence: A "real relationship" with God is the missing link. This is not just "devotional time," but a devoted life where the Lord is the first thought in the morning and the last at night. -- Jesus Looks for Fruit, Not Just Gifts: Spiritual gifts (preaching, teaching, healing) are important, but Jesus judges by the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, etc.). Principles work for anyone, but only a relationship results in God's endorsement. -- The Hebrew Word Yada: In the warning "Depart from me, for I never knew you," the word "knew" is the intimate Hebrew word yada, emphasizing that a lack of intimacy is treated as "iniquity." -- Faithfulness and Stewardship: Dr. Davis ties intimacy to faithfulness, highlighting that God trusts those who are good stewards of their resources (time, money, talents) and who are willing to use their wealth for the Kingdom's commission of making disciples worldwide. Scriptures for Further Study -- Proverbs 18:21 (Life and death is in the power of the tongue) -- Matthew 7:20 (By their fruits you will know them) -- Matthew 6:33 (Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness) -- Revelation 3:20 (Implied context of Jesus knocking at the door/not knowing Him) -- Matthew 25:14-30 (Parable of the Talents/Stewardship) -- Romans 10:9 (Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart) This is episode 374. +++++++ Check out my new website: https://www.enterthegloryzone.org/ MY AUDIO BOOK IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE You can Divorce Proof Your Marriage by understanding the Secret Keys of Love. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey through the Scriptures together each day, warming our hearts by the fire of God's love. In today's episode, we mark the 275th day of our journey as Hunter, your host and Bible reading coach, guides us through Zechariah chapters 13 and 14, Psalm 147, and Luke 15. Today's reading brings us messages of hope, restoration, and the unyielding pursuit of God's love. We hear of God's promise to cleanse and restore His people in Zechariah, the healing power and compassion of the Lord in Psalm 147, and, in Luke 15, the unforgettable parable of the prodigal son—a moving reminder that God is a Good Father and Shepherd who finds and welcomes the lost, whether they are far away or standing just outside the door. Through prayer, reflection, and devotion, this episode centers on the theme that no matter where we find ourselves—lost in weakness, pride, or longing—God's heart is always for us, inviting us to come home and join the celebration of redemption. So settle in as we open the Scriptures, discover fresh encouragement, and remember above all: you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Boys coming home. Both lost. Both slaves. One to his lusts and appetites, one to his pride. But God has a way of finding lost things. Just before this story, Jesus tells a parable of a lost sheep. He says God is like a good shepherd who finds lost sheep, brings them home on his shoulders, calls his friends together, throws a party because what was lost has now been found. And that's what we see with the younger brother. We're told he came to his senses—he saw something in his father, even from a long distance away, and so he comes home. But the good father, the good shepherd, still has some work to do. There's one lost sheep still to go. The older brother. He's lost too—not in his lusts and appetites, but in pride. Pride has drawn him to a distant land, far from his father's heart. And unlike his younger brother, he hasn't come to his senses yet. He's still lost. Of all the ways to be lost, this is perhaps the most tragic. And in the Father's words, we hear his broken and pleading heart: My dear son, all I have is yours. Come to your senses. My heart overflows for you. Don't let pride stand in the way, blinding you from your home and my heart. I'm standing right in front of you. God is a good father and a good shepherd, and he's always pursuing our hearts. You might come to your senses and see him from far off, or you might find him standing outside your own home. Either way, he's a good father, a good shepherd. He won't stop until he's found what he's looking for—until we are fully alive and come to join him in the party. So see your good father today. See the good shepherd today. See how he's always pursuing your heart—even today. He always has these words for you: My dear son, my dear daughter, all I have is yours. So come, let's join the party. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's the prayer I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer I have for you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

//The Wire//2300Z October 1, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: ROSE DOCHERTY ARRESTED AGAIN IN SCOTLAND AS SOCIAL DISSENT CONTINUES TO RISE. IED THREAT DISCOVERED NEAR MUNICH, DELAYING SOME OKTOBERFEST EVENTS.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-United Kingdom: Social concerns and dissent continue as before. On Monday, Rose Docherty was arrested once again in Scotland for holding a sign in the general vicinity of an abortion facility which read "Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want".Analyst Comment: This is the second time she was arrested under similar circumstances, with a nearly identical incident occurring back in February. Regarding that initial incident, the charges were eventually dropped in August. However, that did not stop police from arresting her under the same conditions anyway once again. For wider context, in Scotland specifically "Buffer Zone" laws have been a concern for some time since they don't just apply to protest actions in public...but also in private homes, as noted by American Vice President JD Vance (which brought a lot of international attention to the issue back in February, after her first arrest).More generally around the Kingdom, dissent is growing. A petition to scrub the Digital ID plans has reached over 2.7 million signatures so far, which is a not an inconsequential number regarding these types of government petitions. Nevertheless, the petition has so far been ignored, and the number of signatures continues to climb.Considering the very serious speech issues across the pond, whenever these incidents come to light it is often only American sources who can bring more eyes to these dystopian issues, since even talking about these topics in public forum is often an arrestable offense in the U.K. now. As such, while these incidents do not get that much attention here in the US, these are always worthy to note as the general situation continues to deteriorate as similar efforts pop up here at home.Germany: This morning Oktoberfest celebrations were briefly delayed following an explosive threat in Munich. A fire broke out at a residential building, which resulted in loud bangs being heard by locals as various unknown items cooked off inside the burning structure. Upon responding to the incident local authorities indicated that this may not have been a standard house fire, but rather linked to some sort of explosive threat. One person was reported deceased in conjunction with this investigation, but details vary regarding this person's status. Authorities have also stated that one person linked to this case has been reported missing, however that person's remains may have been located inside the structure. Authorities also stated that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute that involved the paternity of the deceased suspect's daughter.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: The media coverage of the Oktoberfest "explosive threat" has been confusing at best, but the discovery of multiple explosive devices strongly indicates that this incident is not a simple domestic. Just to be blunt, we don't know if the suspect was a German man, or a "German man", so until that detail is known this whole situation could either be a very rare and obscure (but still horrific) case that is purely a case study, or it could be a continuation of the new normal regarding terrorism threats around Europe.German authorities in typical fashion are not making it easy to determine what happened here, so some speculation is needed to piece together the basic facts of the case and to determine if any threat *still remains* regarding the final days of Oktoberfest. But rounding up all of the evidence released to the public, a general sequence of events can be organized:A 57-year-old "German" man engaged in a family dispute at a home in Lerchenau this morning. That dispute resulted in t

Gospel Matthew 18:1-5, 10 The disciples approached Jesus and said, "Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?" He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said, "Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. "See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.” Reflection I remember so vividly growing up and believing that I had a guardian angel. In Catholic school, we used to sit to one side of our desk seat just to allow our angel to sit with us. It was a beautiful image of a way of understanding something. As a child, yes there are creatures that do take care of us. But what's interesting about this passage is it really takes you deeper into the mystery of what Jesus wants you to see in a child. It's about their gifts, about their nature. It's about the fact that they are naturally trusting, creative, playful, curious. These are all qualities that we see in children that we as adults must never lose. Challenge is yes, God takes care of all children at the same time, he looks at us as adults and says, watch them. See them. Understand them. You must become like them. Closing Prayer Father, the world places before us models of who we should be. Our culture has a very strong emphasis on success financially, higher education, places of importance. But nothing is more important than our heart. And a heart of a child is so important for us to examine, so we can make sure we too are children of God. And we ask this in Jesus' name, Amen. Learn more about your ad choices. What does true generosity look like? Is it measured by the size of the gift, or is it something deeper? In Luke 21:1–4, Jesus praises a widow who gave only two small coins. At first glance, her offering seems insignificant compared to the wealthy donors around her. Yet, in Jesus' eyes, her gift was greater than them all. Why? Because God doesn't measure generosity by the amount—it's the heart behind it that matters. The Scene at the TemplePicture the temple courts: the wealthy making large, noticeable contributions, drawing admiration for their gifts. Then comes a poor widow. No fanfare. No applause. Just two copper coins—economically worthless. Yet Jesus declares that she has given more than anyone else. The difference? The wealthy gave from their abundance, gifts that cost them little. The widow gave out of her poverty—all she had to live on. Her gift was not just generous; it was sacrificial, risky, and rooted in trust. This theme echoes throughout Scripture. In 1 Samuel 16:7, the Lord tells Samuel, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Paul also affirms this in 2 Corinthians 8:12: “If the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.”God doesn't call us to give what we don't have. He calls us to give cheerfully, faithfully, and with hearts surrendered to Him.God Wants Your HeartThe widow's gift also points us to the gospel itself. In 2 Corinthians 8:9 we read, “Though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.” Jesus gave everything for us—holding nothing back. When we give sacrificially, we reflect His love and generosity.Maybe you've felt your giving is too small to matter. But Scripture shows otherwise. In John 6, a boy offered five loaves and two fish—and Jesus fed thousands. The issue isn't what you have, but what God can do with it.Generosity in God's Kingdom isn't about status or size. It's about surrender. A gift given in faith is never small. Whether two coins or two million dollars, the real question is: Am I giving out of abundance or out of trust? The story of the widow's mite isn't meant to pressure us into giving more. Instead, it frees us to see generosity the way God does—not as an economic equation but as an act of worship. He doesn't need your money; He wants your heart. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I lost money in my 401(k) when I became disabled, and now it's sitting in an IRA that isn't earning anything. Presented by Julie Busteed What happens when you are not patient and run ahead of God and take things into your own hands? That's exactly what happened to King Saul. You can read the entire account in I Samuel 13:1-15 but let me summarize. Saul is the newly appointed first King over Israel. They've had some success at defeating their enemies. I guess King Saul is feeling pretty good about this. Then the Philistines—the enemy—assemble to fight and they have many chariots and soldiers as numerous as the sand on the seashore. When the Israelites see this, they are quaking with fear. Saul waits seven days for Samuel (the prophet and priest) to arrive to offer the burnt offering. He was following Samuel's instructions (1 Samuel 10:8). But something happens—we're not told what—but Samuel doesn't show up in seven days. He's late. And Saul seeing that his soldiers are frightened, seeing the strength and number of his enemies, takes things into his own hands and he offers the sacrifice to God (which by the way was against the law—only priests were to do this). And then guess who shows up at this exact moment—Samuel! And he asks Saul what's going on, and Saul explains: “When I saw that the men were scattering, and that you did not come at the set time, and that the Philistines were assembling at Mikmash, I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will come down against me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the Lord's favor.' So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering” (1 Samuel 13:11-12). Oh wow. Did you hear that? Saul's saying things weren't going as he thought they should. He was looking at his circumstances around him and becoming fearful and not looking at God. And so, he took things into his own hands—he felt “compelled” to ask for the Lord's help in this way. And Samuel then tells him that he's done a foolish thing. That he's not kept the command that the Lord God gave him and as a result the Kingdom of Israel will be taken away from him, it will not endure. I do feel for Saul sometimes. It sounds like he convinced himself he was doing the right thing in rushing ahead of God and offering these sacrifices and seeking the Lord's favor instead of waiting for Samuel. But it was not the right thing. How many times have you been anxious, got tired of waiting for God and took things into your own hands which then resulted in more trouble? Maybe you are so desperate to get out of a job or a project that you'll do anything. I know. It's hard to wait. But it can be even more dangerous to not wait. To make poor decisions and suffer those consequences. You might not have your kingdom taken away from you like Saul, but it could still end in difficulty. As the Psalmist says, wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord (Psalm 27:14 ESV)!

Send us a textWhat if worship isn't a feeling but an allegiance—one that reshapes your heart, your habits, and how you spend your time and money? We dive into the sweeping call to love God with heart, soul, and strength and unpack how that plays out in ordinary life: parenting through interruptions, singing when you don't feel like it, building daily liturgies that stick, and turning homes and resources into outposts of grace. Tiffany shares a raw moment of singing “I surrender” and realizing she hadn't—and how repentance, renouncing lies, replacing them with truth, and renewing the mind became a simple, repeatable path back to a true heart posture. We talk bodies as instruments of worship—why kneeling matters, why gratitude can lead feelings, and why consistent rhythms are more like strength training than spiritual fireworks. From prayer journals with kids to listening to Scripture when the house is loud, we offer practical patterns that grow real resilience. We also reframe “peace.” The Prince of Peace doesn't anesthetize; he reconciles and then sends us into hard places with a different kind of courage. That peace is covenantal, not merely emotional—a settled trust that frees us to obey when comfort resists. Finally, we push against common counterfeits: comparison culture, curated perfection, politics-as-purpose, porn, and the lure of numbing habits. Strength in the Kingdom means resources offered and multiplied—hospitality that stretches budgets, fences that bless neighbors for decades, meals that turn into discipleship. When heart posture flows into daily liturgy and then into generous strength, households, churches, and communities actually change. New Hope Daily SOAP - Daily Devotional Bible Reading

Daily Dose of Hope October 2, 2025   Scripture – John 2:1-12   Prayer:  Amazing Father and Lord, Thank you for who you are.  Thank you for how you care for us.  We get distracted.  We veer away from you and your Word.  For that, we are so very sorry.  Forgive us, Lord.  Help us to abide in you.  Help us to remain close so that we can be fruitful and effective for your Kingdom.  Help us get outside ourselves and see others as you see them.  And help us trust.  Lord, we belong to you.  In Your Name, Amen.   Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope!  This is the devotional and podcast that complements the New Hope Church Bible reading plan.  We are currently doing a deep dive into the Gospels and Acts.  Today, we begin a deep dive into John 2.   We meet Jesus at a wedding celebration.  Weddings are usually wonderful celebrations. And they are so different and unique. Some of you probably had huge, elaborate affairs, while others had small backyard barbeque weddings and most of us were somewhere in between. My wedding was very nice but not excessive in any way. I was the first of my friends to get married so I had nothing to compare it to, I didn't have any idea what was expected, and I think that was probably a gift.   Weddings in first century Palestine were very different from American weddings of today. In fact, they would last about a week. It was the responsibility of the groom to provide food and care for the guests for that week. In an honor-shamed based culture, which we find in this part of the world, that was a big deal. In this case, the groom runs out of wine three days in. This would have meant that the family was not prepared, it been a source of shame and embarrassment for them. Some of you might be thinking that after three days of drinking, they probably needed to be cut off. But this actually would have been very serious. I read that guests could actually have sued the family for their lack of care in this case.   This wedding must have been a relative or someone close to the family, as Jesus, his mother, and the disciples were there. And Jesus' mother is obviously pretty concerned about the wine issue. She knows that the family's reputation, their honor, is on the line. She cares for this family. So she goes to Jesus and she's like, ummm...there is no more wine. Hint hint. You wonder how she knew he could do something about it. What was it about his growing up years that she knew he could handle it? And his answer is, “Dear Woman, my time has not yet come.” Some translations simply say, “Woman.” He isn't being disrespectful but he is being kind of firm. My time has not yet come. I love this passage because there are so many layers of meaning. His time had not yet come.   And yet, Jesus takes matters into his own hands.  He tells the servants to fill the jars with water.  These would have been really large jars for storing clean water.  Some pictures I've seen have the jars almost waste high.  And then, after the jars were filled, some of the liquid from the jars was taken to the master of ceremonies.  The Scripture says this, He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”   Jesus does not make mediocre wine.  When Jesus is involved, it's a miracle of abundance and excellence.  Jesus made the best wine of the night.  And the servants, who knew exactly what happened, their lives were changed forever.  They had witnessed Jesus do something extraordinary.    This got me thinking.  How often do we settle for mediocre wine?  I'm not talking about wine here.  How often do we ask Jesus to take care of something and then we step in and kind of take over.  What would happen if we totally trusted Jesus to just take care of it all?  We may just end up with the best wine of the night.   Blessings, Pastor Vicki

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where we journey together through the pages of scripture and let the Word point us to the Living Word—Jesus himself. In today's episode for September 30th, our host Hunter invites us to warm our hearts by the fires of God's love as we read from Zechariah 7–9 and Luke 13. We'll witness powerful prophecies of restoration and hope in Zechariah, and hear Jesus challenge our assumptions about tragedy and repentance in Luke. As Hunter reflects, the headlines of both the ancient and modern world often declare that "the world is falling down," but Jesus brings good news—a kingdom that is rising up in the midst of brokenness. With gentle encouragement, Hunter leads us to consider our own need for God's renewing grace, to trust in the hope he offers, and to join in prayer for our world, our families, and our own hearts. So whether this is your first day or your twelfth year with us, settle in as we center our lives on the One who holds all things together. TODAY'S DEVOTION: The world is falling down. Those are the headlines—then and now. Tragedy, disaster, violence—they fill the news and our lives with sorrow and confusion. When Jesus looked at the headlines of his own day, he spoke of Galileans killed by Pilate, and of people crushed when a tower fell in Siloam. He posed the question many of us have probably wondered: Were their suffering and deaths the sign that they were the worst sinners? Was this God's judgment against them, or a measure of their worth in God's eyes? But Jesus turns our thinking upside down. He tells us no, their suffering was not because they were the worst, or because God didn't care, or that they were unimportant to Him. The world is broken, Jesus says. Towers fall, tragedy strikes, death comes—sometimes seemingly at random, sometimes to the pious and sometimes to the publican. This is the world we inhabit: a world fallen, groaning, filled with loss. But Jesus is not content just to comment on the news. He proclaims something entirely new: The kingdom of God is rising up. Where the world falls, God's kingdom grows. The kingdom is like a gardener, patient with a barren fig tree, tending it, waiting for fruit. It's like a woman bent over for eighteen years, suddenly raised up and set free. It's like a tiny mustard seed that grows into a tree, so large that the birds can make their nests there. It's yeast, small and hidden at first, yet permeating the whole loaf. Jesus brings good news into this falling world. He goes to Jerusalem; He is lifted up on a cross for this very reason—that the world, broken and lost, could be made new. He offers hope: not just for the world, but for each of us, for our own broken souls. He calls us to repent, to turn to Him, to let Him meet our needs and restore what is shattered in us. This is our invitation—to center our lives on the good news of Jesus, to trust Him and join Him in His mission. We can participate with Him: shining light in the darkness, extending mercy and justice, and bearing witness to the kingdom rising up in a world that so desperately needs it. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. That's a prayer I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, and my son. And that's a prayer I have for you.

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! It's October 1st, and as we kick off a brand-new month, Hunter invites us to journey together through the Scriptures, one day at a time. In today's episode, we dive into Zechariah chapters 10 to 12, Psalm 126, and Luke 14, uncovering powerful themes of restoration, humility, and the transforming invitation of God. Hunter reminds us that everyone is invited to God's banquet—not because of our status or achievements, but because of His grace and our willingness to set aside self-interest and respond with humble gratitude. As we reflect on the passages, we're encouraged to let go of what owns us, embrace the new life Christ offers, and become instruments of peace and hope in the world. So grab your Bible and settle in, because this episode is about opening your heart, being shaped by Scripture, and remembering just how deeply you are loved. TODAY'S DEVOTION: There's a party going on, and it seems like everyone's invited eventually. But those first recipients of the invitation valued their own lives above the master's, so they had all kinds of excuses. "I've got to tend to this. I just purchased that. This just happened to me." There's no lack of excuses offered. In the end, these folks were left out of the party by their own choosing and doing. But then—the poor, the crippled, the lame and blind—those with no self-interest to speak of, respond to the invitation. They had no excuses. They only had gratitude. Right on the heels of this story, Luke tells us that there were crowds following Jesus. But Jesus tests these crowds. It seems that they too were there because of their own self-interests. Jesus had just finished telling the story of people who had gotten caught up in pursuing their own interests over God. Now He has a whole crowd upon Him. And He tells them that if their following Him is about self-promotion, then they've got Him all wrong. One has to hate oneself, He says, and one's own life. Like the poor, blind, crippled, lame beggar—these people in the story, they hate their lives. They came to the banquet grateful that they were being invited to a new kind of life, that they were being seated at a table and honored by the Master. This kind of humility is the only requirement to be a disciple and have a seat at the table of God. So Jesus turns around and tells this large crowd of people who are pursuing their own self-interests: You cannot become my disciple without giving up everything you own—your selfish ambition, your own attempts to save yourself, your pasts, your addictions, your pride, your arrogance, your... You've got to give up everything you own and hate it. And when you do that, the power to give up everything that owns you will be yours. There's so much that owns us—our need to be recognized, our pride, arrogance, our past, our shame. These things can own us. But Jesus can set us free. He invites us to the table. He wants us to recognize that indeed, we are poor and blind and miserable and beggars. But we've been invited to the banquet. When we respond and come to his table, all that once owned us will be no more. We will be seated with him at his banquet. We will be made new. May we recognize who we are apart from him. There is an invitation to come though, to Him at his table, and experience who you are in Him. And that's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's a prayer that I have for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son.

In this message, Peter unpacks Romans 1 and the revelation that righteousness is not just a theological concept but a living gift we are called to experience. He challenges believers to move beyond striving and unbelief into the joy of peace with God, the assurance of forgiveness, and the strength to stand as oaks of righteousness in a world marked by struggle and distraction. We invite you cling to the Lamb, receive the finished work of Jesus, and let righteousness flow like a never-ending stream into every part of life.Join us weekly on Zoom for Gospel Hour on Wednesdays at 9a CST: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/9657760302THE BRAVEHEART SUMMIT REGISTRATION IS LIVE!
