April 25, 2025 - Equipped 2025 - Day 2 - 2:30PM Session Tim looks at Isaiah 24-39 and reflects on key thoughts and topics. Isaiah 24-35 - Impending Judgment on the Earth 24 Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty and makes it waste, Distorts its surface And scatters abroad its inhabitants. 2 And it shall be: As with the people, so with the priest; As with the servant, so with his master; As with the maid, so with her mistress; As with the buyer, so with the seller; As with the lender, so with the borrower; As with the creditor, so with the debtor. 3 The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the Lord has spoken this word. 4 The earth mourns and fades away, The world languishes and fades away; The haughty[a] people of the earth languish. 5 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are [b]desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men are left. 7 The new wine fails, the vine languishes, All the merry-hearted sigh. 8 The mirth of the tambourine ceases, The noise of the jubilant ends, The joy of the harp ceases. 9 They shall not drink wine with a song; Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it. 10 The city of confusion is broken down; Every house is shut up, so that none may go in. 11 There is a cry for wine in the streets, All joy is darkened, The mirth of the land is gone. 12 In the city desolation is left, And the gate is stricken with destruction. 13 When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people, It shall be like the shaking of an olive tree, Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done. 14 They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the Lord They shall cry aloud from the sea. 15 Therefore glorify the Lord in the dawning light, The name of the Lord God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea. 16 From the ends of the earth we have heard songs: “Glory to the righteous!” But I said, [c]“I am ruined, ruined! Woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously, Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.” 17 Fear and the pit and the snare Are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth. 18 And it shall be That he who flees from the noise of the fear Shall fall into the pit, And he who comes up from the midst of the pit Shall be [d]caught in the snare; For the windows from on high are open, And the foundations of the earth are shaken. 19 The earth is violently broken, The earth is split open, The earth is shaken exceedingly. 20 The earth shall reel[e] to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again. 21 It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord will punish on high the host of exalted ones, And on the earth the kings of the earth. 22 They will be gathered together, As prisoners are gathered in the [f]pit, And will be shut up in the prison; After many days they will be punished. 23 Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the Lord of hosts will reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously. Praise to God 25 O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. 2 For You have made a city a ruin, A fortified city a ruin, A palace of foreigners to be a city no more; It will never be rebuilt. 3 Therefore the strong people will glorify You; The city of the [g]terrible nations will fear You. 4 For You have been a strength to the poor, A strength to the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, A shade from the heat; For the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 5 You will reduce the noise of aliens, As heat in a dry place; As heat in the shadow of a cloud, The song of the terrible ones will be [h]diminished. 6 And in this mountain The Lord of hosts will make for all people A feast of [i]choice pieces, A feast of [j]wines on the lees, Of fat things full of marrow, Of well-refined wines on the lees. 7 And He will destroy on this mountain The surface of the covering cast over all people, And the veil that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken. 9 And it will be said in that day: “Behold, this is our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the Lord; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.” 10 For on this mountain the hand of the Lord will rest, And Moab shall be trampled down under Him, As straw is trampled down for the refuse heap. 11 And He will spread out His hands in their midst As a swimmer reaches out to swim, And He will bring down their pride Together with the trickery of their hands. 12 The fortress of the high fort of your walls He will bring down, lay low, And bring to the ground, down to the dust. A Song of Salvation 26 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks. 2 Open the gates, That the righteous nation which [k]keeps the truth may enter in. 3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is [l]everlasting strength. 5 For He brings [m]down those who dwell on high, The lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust. 6 The foot shall [n]tread it down— The feet of the poor And the steps of the needy.” 7 The way of the just is uprightness; O Most Upright, You [o]weigh the path of the just. 8 Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O Lord, we have waited for You; The desire of our soul is for Your name And for the remembrance of You. 9 With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. 10 Let grace be shown to the wicked, Yet he will not learn righteousness; In the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly, And will not behold the majesty of the Lord. 11 Lord, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see. But they will see and be ashamed For [p]their envy of people; Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them. 12 Lord, You will establish peace for us, For You have also done all our works [q]in us. 13 O Lord our God, masters besides You Have had dominion over us; But by You only we make mention of Your name. 14 They are dead, they will not live; They are deceased, they will not rise. Therefore You have punished and destroyed them, And made all their memory to perish. 15 You have increased the nation, O Lord, You have increased the nation; You are glorified; You have expanded all the [r]borders of the land. 16 Lord, in trouble they have visited You, They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them. 17 As a woman with child Is in pain and cries out in her [s]pangs, When she draws near the time of her delivery, So have we been in Your sight, O Lord. 18 We have been with child, we have been in pain; We have, as it were, [t]brought forth wind; We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth, Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen. 19 Your dead shall live; Together with [u]my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead. Take Refuge from the Coming Judgment 20 Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. 21 For behold, the Lord comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her [v]blood, And will no more cover her slain. Israel Will Be Restored 27 In that day the Lord with His severe sword, great and strong, Will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea. The Restoration of Israel 2 In that day sing to her, “A vineyard of [w]red wine! 3 I, the Lord, keep it, I water it every moment; Lest any hurt it, I keep it night and day. 4 Fury is not in Me. Who would set briers and thorns Against Me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together. 5 Or let him take hold of My strength, That he may make peace with Me; And he shall make peace with Me.” 6 Those who come He shall cause to take root in Jacob; Israel shall blossom and bud, And fill the face of the world with fruit. 7 Has He struck [x]Israel as He struck those who struck him? Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him? 8 In measure, by sending it away, You contended with it. He removes it by His rough wind In the day of the east wind. 9 Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered; And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: When he makes all the stones of the altar Like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, [y]Wooden images and incense altars shall not stand. 10 Yet the fortified city will be desolate, The habitation forsaken and left like a wilderness; There the calf will feed, and there it will lie down And consume its branches. 11 When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off; The women come and set them on fire. For it is a people of no understanding; Therefore He who made them will not have mercy on them, And He who formed them will show them no favor. 12 And it shall come to pass in that day That the Lord will thresh, From the channel of [z]the River to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel. 13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt, And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem. Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem 28 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the [aa]verdant valleys, To those who are overcome with wine! 2 Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one, Like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, Like a flood of mighty waters overflowing, Who will bring them down to the earth with His hand. 3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, Will be trampled underfoot; 4 And the glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the [ab]verdant valley, Like the first fruit before the summer, Which an observer sees; He eats it up while it is still in his hand. 5 In that day the Lord of hosts will be For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty To the remnant of His people, 6 For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. 7 But they also have erred through wine, And through intoxicating drink are out of the way; The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink, They are swallowed up by wine, They are out of the way through intoxicating drink; They err in vision, they stumble in judgment. 8 For all tables are full of vomit and filth; No place is clean. 9 “Whom will he teach knowledge? And whom will he make to understand the message? Those just weaned from milk? Those just drawn from the breasts? 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.” 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, 12 To whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” And, “This is the refreshing”; Yet they would not hear. 13 But the word of the Lord was to them, “Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little,” That they might go and fall backward, and be broken And snared and caught. 14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scornful men, Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem, 15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death, And with Sheol we are in agreement. When the overflowing scourge passes through, It will not come to us, For we have made lies our refuge, And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.” A Cornerstone in Zion 16 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation, A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; Whoever believes will not act hastily. 17 Also I will make justice the measuring line, And righteousness the plummet; The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, And the waters will overflow the hiding place. 18 Your covenant with death will be annulled, And your agreement with Sheol will not stand; When the overflowing scourge passes through, Then you will be trampled down by it. 19 As often as it goes out it will take you; For morning by morning it will pass over, And by day and by night; It will be a terror just to understand the report.” 20 For the bed is too short to stretch out on, And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it. 21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His [ac]unusual act. 22 Now therefore, do not be mockers, Lest your bonds be made strong; For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts, A [ad]destruction determined even upon the whole earth. Listen to the Teaching of God 23 Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my speech. 24 Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow? Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods? 25 When he has leveled its surface, Does he not sow the black cummin And scatter the cummin, Plant the wheat in rows, The barley in the appointed place, And the [ae]spelt in its place? 26 For He instructs him in right judgment, His God teaches him. 27 For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge, Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin; But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick, And the cummin with a rod. 28 Bread flour must be ground; Therefore he does not thresh it forever, Break it with his cartwheel, Or crush it with his horsemen. 29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in [af]guidance. Woe to Jerusalem 29 “Woe to [ag]Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! Add year to year; Let feasts come around. 2 Yet I will distress Ariel; There shall be heaviness and sorrow, And it shall be to Me as Ariel. 3 I will encamp against you all around, I will lay siege against you with a mound, And I will raise siegeworks against you. 4 You shall be brought down, You shall speak out of the ground; Your speech shall be low, out of the dust; Your voice shall be like a medium's, out of the ground; And your speech shall whisper out of the dust. 5 “Moreover the multitude of your foes Shall be like fine dust, And the multitude of the terrible ones Like chaff that passes away; Yes, it shall be in an instant, suddenly. 6 You will be punished by the Lord of hosts With thunder and earthquake and great noise, With storm and tempest And the flame of devouring fire. 7 The multitude of all the nations who fight against [ah]Ariel, Even all who fight against her and her fortress, And distress her, Shall be as a dream of a night vision. 8 It shall even be as when a hungry man dreams, And look—he eats; But he awakes, and his soul is still empty; Or as when a thirsty man dreams, And look—he drinks; But he awakes, and indeed he is faint, And his soul still craves: So the multitude of all the nations shall be, Who fight against Mount Zion.” The Blindness of Disobedience 9 Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. 10 For the Lord has poured out on you The spirit of deep sleep, And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers. 11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a [ai]book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 Then the book is delivered to one who [aj]is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate.” 13 Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, 14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” 15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” 16 Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it, “He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? Future Recovery of Wisdom 17 Is it not yet a very little while Till Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, And the fruitful field be esteemed as a forest? 18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. 19 The humble also shall increase their joy in the Lord, And the poor among men shall rejoice In the Holy One of Israel. 20 For the [ak]terrible one is brought to nothing, The scornful one is consumed, And all who watch for iniquity are cut off— 21 Who make a man an offender by a word, And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, And turn aside the just by empty words. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall not now be ashamed, Nor shall his face now grow pale; 23 But when he sees his children, The work of My hands, in his midst, They will hallow My name, And hallow the Holy One of Jacob, And fear the God of Israel. 24 These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, And those who complained will learn doctrine.” Futile Confidence in Egypt 30 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who [al]devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; 2 Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3 Therefore the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall be your humiliation. 4 For his princes were at Zoan, And his ambassadors came to Hanes. 5 They were all ashamed of a people who could not benefit them, Or be help or benefit, But a shame and also a reproach.” 6 The [am]burden against the beasts of the South. Through a land of trouble and anguish, From which came the lioness and lion, The viper and fiery flying serpent, They will carry their riches on the backs of young donkeys, And their treasures on the humps of camels, To a people who shall not profit; 7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain and to no purpose. Therefore I have called her [an]Rahab-Hem-Shebeth. A Rebellious People 8 Now go, write it before them on a tablet, And note it on a scroll, That it may be for time to come, Forever and ever: 9 That this is a rebellious people, Lying children, Children who will not hear the law of the Lord; 10 Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” And to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. 11 Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us.” 12 Therefore thus says the Holy One of Israel: “Because you despise this word, And trust in oppression and perversity, And rely on them, 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you Like a breach ready to fall, A bulge in a high wall, Whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant. 14 And He shall break it like the breaking of the potter's vessel, Which is broken in pieces; He shall not spare. So there shall not be found among its fragments [ao]A shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern.” 15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not, 16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! 17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a [ap]pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill. God Will Be Gracious 18 Therefore the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious to you; And therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed are all those who wait for Him. 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry; When He hears it, He will answer you. 20 And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of [aq]affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. 21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. 22 You will also defile the covering of your images of silver, And the ornament of your molded images of gold. You will throw them away as an unclean thing; You will say to them, “Get away!” 23 Then He will give the rain for your seed With which you sow the ground, And bread of the increase of the earth; It will be [ar]fat and plentiful. In that day your cattle will feed In large pastures. 24 Likewise the oxen and the young donkeys that work the ground Will eat cured fodder, Which has been winnowed with the shovel and fan. 25 There will be on every high mountain And on every high hill Rivers and streams of waters, In the day of the great slaughter, When the towers fall. 26 Moreover the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun will be sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day that the Lord binds up the bruise of His people And heals the stroke of their wound. Judgment on Assyria 27 Behold, the name of the Lord comes from afar, Burning with His anger, And His burden is heavy; His lips are full of indignation, And His tongue like a devouring fire. 28 His breath is like an overflowing stream, Which reaches up to the neck, To sift the nations with the sieve of futility; And there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, Causing them to err. 29 You shall have a song As in the night when a holy festival is kept, And gladness of heart as when one goes with a flute, To come into the mountain of the Lord, To [as]the Mighty One of Israel. 30 The Lord will cause His glorious voice to be heard, And show the descent of His arm, With the indignation of His anger And the flame of a devouring fire, With scattering, tempest, and hailstones. 31 For through the voice of the Lord Assyria will be [at]beaten down, As He strikes with the rod. 32 And in every place where the staff of punishment passes, Which the Lord lays on him, It will be with tambourines and harps; And in battles of brandishing He will fight with it. 33 For Tophet was established of old, Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made it deep and large; Its pyre is fire with much wood; The breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, Kindles it. The Folly of Not Trusting God 31 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the Lord! 2 Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, And will not [au]call back His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers, And against the help of those who work iniquity. 3 Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord stretches out His hand, Both he who helps will fall, And he who is helped will fall down; They all will perish together. God Will Deliver Jerusalem 4 For thus the Lord has spoken to me: “As a lion roars, And a young lion over his prey (When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice Nor be disturbed by their noise), So the Lord of hosts will come down To fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. 5 Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” 6 Return to Him against whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. 7 For in that day every man shall throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin, which your own hands have made for yourselves. 8 “Then Assyria shall fall by a sword not of man, And a sword not of mankind shall devour him. But he shall flee from the sword, And his young men shall become forced labor. 9 He shall cross over to his stronghold for fear, And his princes shall be afraid of the banner,” Says the Lord, Whose fire is in Zion And whose furnace is in Jerusalem. A Reign of Righteousness 32 Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, And princes will rule with justice. 2 A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, And a [av]cover from the tempest, As rivers of water in a dry place, As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. 3 The eyes of those who see will not be dim, And the ears of those who hear will listen. 4 Also the heart of the [aw]rash will understand knowledge, And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly. 5 The foolish person will no longer be called [ax]generous, Nor the miser said to be bountiful; 6 For the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the Lord, To keep the hungry unsatisfied, And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7 Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice. 8 But a [ay]generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand. Consequences of Complacency 9 Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech. 10 In a year and some days You will be troubled, you complacent women; For the vintage will fail, The gathering will not come. 11 Tremble, you women who are at ease; Be troubled, you complacent ones; Strip yourselves, make yourselves bare, And gird sackcloth on your waists. 12 People shall mourn upon their breasts For the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine. 13 On the land of my people will come up thorns and briers, Yes, on all the happy homes in the joyous city; 14 Because the palaces will be forsaken, The bustling city will be deserted. The forts and towers will become lairs forever, A joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks— 15 Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, And the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, And the fruitful field is counted as a forest. The Peace of God's Reign 16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, And righteousness remain in the fruitful field. 17 The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever. 18 My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, In secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places, 19 Though hail comes down on the forest, And the city is brought low in humiliation. 20 Blessed are you who sow beside all waters, Who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey. A Prayer in Deep Distress 33 Woe to you who plunder, though you have not been plundered; And you who deal treacherously, though they have not dealt treacherously with you! When you cease plundering, You will be plundered; When you make an end of dealing treacherously, They will deal treacherously with you. 2 O Lord, be gracious to us; We have waited for You. Be [az]their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble. 3 At the noise of the tumult the people shall flee; When You lift Yourself up, the nations shall be scattered; 4 And Your plunder shall be gathered Like the gathering of the caterpillar; As the running to and fro of locusts, He shall run upon them. 5 The Lord is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness. 6 Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the Lord is His treasure. 7 Surely their valiant ones shall cry outside, The ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. 8 The highways lie waste, The traveling man ceases. He has broken the covenant, [ba]He has despised the [bb]cities, He regards no man. 9 The earth mourns and languishes, Lebanon is shamed and shriveled; Sharon is like a wilderness, And Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits. Impending Judgment on Zion 10 “Now I will rise,” says the Lord; “Now I will be exalted, Now I will lift Myself up. 11 You shall conceive chaff, You shall bring forth stubble; Your breath, as fire, shall devour you. 12 And the people shall be like the burnings of lime; Like thorns cut up they shall be burned in the fire. 13 Hear, you who are afar off, what I have done; And you who are near, acknowledge My might.” 14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; Fearfulness has seized the hypocrites: “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” 15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil: 16 He will dwell on [bc]high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure. The Land of the Majestic King 17 Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off. 18 Your heart will meditate on terror: “Where is the scribe? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?” 19 You will not see a fierce people, A people of obscure speech, beyond perception, Of a [bd]stammering tongue that you cannot understand. 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A tabernacle that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken. 21 But there the majestic Lord will be for us A place of broad rivers and streams, In which no [be]galley with oars will sail, Nor majestic ships pass by 22 (For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us); 23 Your tackle is loosed, They could not strengthen their mast, They could not spread the sail. Then the prey of great plunder is divided; The lame take the prey. 24 And the inhabitant will not say, “I am sick”; The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity. Judgment on the Nations 34 Come near, you nations, to hear; And heed, you people! Let the earth hear, and all that is in it, The world and all things that come forth from it. 2 For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, And His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter. 3 Also their slain shall be thrown out; Their stench shall rise from their corpses, And the mountains shall be melted with their blood. 4 All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; All their host shall fall down As the leaf falls from the vine, And as fruit falling from a fig tree. 5 “For My sword shall be bathed in heaven; Indeed it shall come down on Edom, And on the people of My curse, for judgment. 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It is made [bf]overflowing with fatness, With the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7 The wild oxen shall come down with them, And the young bulls with the mighty bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, And their dust [bg]saturated with fatness.” 8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion. 9 Its streams shall be turned into pitch, And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch. 10 It shall not be quenched night or day; Its smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever. 11 But the [bh]pelican and the [bi]porcupine shall possess it, Also the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. And He shall stretch out over it The line of confusion and the stones of emptiness. 12 They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, But none shall be there, and all its princes shall be nothing. 13 And thorns shall come up in its palaces, Nettles and brambles in its fortresses; It shall be a habitation of jackals, A courtyard for ostriches. 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the [bj]jackals, And the wild goat shall bleat to its companion; Also [bk]the night creature shall rest there, And find for herself a place of rest. 15 There the arrow snake shall make her nest and lay eggs And hatch, and gather them under her shadow; There also shall the hawks be gathered, Every one with her mate. 16 “Search from the book of the Lord, and read: Not one of these shall fail; Not one shall lack her mate. For My mouth has commanded it, and His Spirit has gathered them. 17 He has cast the lot for them, And His hand has divided it among them with a measuring line. They shall possess it forever; From generation to generation they shall dwell in it.” The Future Glory of Zion 35 The wilderness and the [bl]wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert[bm] shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; 2 It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God. 3 Strengthen the [bn]weak hands, And make firm the [bo]feeble knees. 4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” 5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. 6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert. 7 The parched ground shall become a pool, And the thirsty land springs of water; In the habitation of jackals, where each lay, There shall be grass with reeds and rushes. 8 A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, Shall not go astray. 9 No lion shall be there, Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it; It shall not be found there. But the redeemed shall walk there, 10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, And sorrow and sighing shall flee away. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2VpvWOWpLg Duration 41:06
April 26, 2025 - Equipped 2025 - Day 3 - 8:00AM Session During this session Jason reflects on the justful, righteous nature of God and how he handles Israel. Isaiah 27-34 -Israel Will Be Restored 27 In that day the Lord with His severe sword, great and strong, Will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea. The Restoration of Israel 2 In that day sing to her, “A vineyard of red wine! 7 Has He struck Israel as He struck those who struck him? Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him? 8 In measure, by sending it away, You contended with it. He removes it by His rough wind In the day of the east wind. 9 Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered; And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: When he makes all the stones of the altar Like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, [c]Wooden images and incense altars shall not stand. 12 And it shall come to pass in that day That the Lord will thresh, From the channel of the River to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel. 13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt, And shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem. Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem 28 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the verdant valleys, To those who are overcome with wine! 2 Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one, Like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, Like a flood of mighty waters overflowing, Who will bring them down to the earth with His hand. 3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, Will be trampled underfoot; 4 And the glorious beauty is a fading flower Which is at the head of the verdant valley, Like the first fruit before the summer, Which an observer sees; He eats it up while it is still in his hand. 21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount Perazim, He will be angry as in the Valley of Gibeon— That He may do His work, His awesome work, And bring to pass His act, His unusual act. 22 Now therefore, do not be mockers, Lest your bonds be made strong; For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts, A destruction determined even upon the whole earth. Listen to the Teaching of God 23 Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my speech. 24 Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow? Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods? 25 When he has leveled its surface, Does he not sow the black cummin And scatter the cummin, Plant the wheat in rows, The barley in the appointed place, And the [i]spelt in its place? 26 For He instructs him in right judgment, His God teaches him. 27 For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge, Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin; But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick, And the cummin with a rod. 28 Bread flour must be ground; Therefore he does not thresh it forever, Break it with his cartwheel, Or crush it with his horsemen. 29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance. Woe to Jerusalem 29 “Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! 7 The multitude of all the nations who fight against Ariel, Even all who fight against her and her fortress, And distress her, Shall be as a dream of a night vision. 11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.” And he says, “I am not literate.” 13 Therefore the Lord said: “Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, 14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work Among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.” 15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark; They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?” 16 Surely you have things turned around! 20 For the terrible one is brought to nothing, The scornful one is consumed, And all who watch for iniquity are cut off— 21 Who make a man an offender by a word, And lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, And turn aside the just by empty words. 24 These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, And those who complained will learn doctrine.” Futile Confidence in Egypt 30 “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; 2 Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt! 3 Therefore the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall be your humiliation. 4 For his princes were at Zoan, And his ambassadors came to Hanes. 5 They were all ashamed of a people who could not benefit them, Or be help or benefit, But a shame and also a reproach.” 6 The burden against the beasts of the South. Therefore I have called her Rahab-Hem-Shebeth. So there shall not be found among its fragments A shard to take fire from the hearth, Or to take water from the cistern.” 15 For thus says the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.” But you would not, 16 And you said, “No, for we will flee on horses”— Therefore you shall flee! And, “We will ride on swift horses”— Therefore those who pursue you shall be swift! 17 One thousand shall flee at the threat of one, At the threat of five you shall flee, Till you are left as a pole on top of a mountain And as a banner on a hill. 20 And though the Lord gives you The bread of adversity and the water of affliction, Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers. 21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. 22 You will also defile the covering of your images of silver, And the ornament of your molded images of gold. You will throw them away as an unclean thing; You will say to them, “Get away!” 23 Then He will give the rain for your seed With which you sow the ground, And bread of the increase of the earth; It will be fat and plentiful. 29 You shall have a song As in the night when a holy festival is kept, And gladness of heart as when one goes with a flute, To come into the mountain of the Lord, To the Mighty One of Israel. 30 The Lord will cause His glorious voice to be heard, And show the descent of His arm, With the indignation of His anger And the flame of a devouring fire, With scattering, tempest, and hailstones. 31 For through the voice of the Lord Assyria will be beaten down, As He strikes with the rod. 2 Yet He also is wise and will bring disaster, And will not call back His words, But will arise against the house of evildoers, And against the help of those who work iniquity. 2 A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, And a cover from the tempest, As rivers of water in a dry place, As the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. 3 The eyes of those who see will not be dim, And the ears of those who hear will listen. 4 Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge, And the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly. 5 The foolish person will no longer be called generous, Nor the miser said to be bountiful; 6 For the foolish person will speak foolishness, And his heart will work iniquity: To practice ungodliness, To utter error against the Lord, To keep the hungry unsatisfied, And he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7 Also the schemes of the schemer are evil; He devises wicked plans To destroy the poor with lying words, Even when the needy speaks justice. 8 But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand. Be their arm every morning, Our salvation also in the time of trouble. He has broken the covenant, He has despised the cities, He regards no man. Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” 15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, He who despises the gain of oppressions, Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, And shuts his eyes from seeing evil: 16 He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure. The Land of the Majestic King 17 Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off. 18 Your heart will meditate on terror: “Where is the scribe? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?” 19 You will not see a fierce people, A people of obscure speech, beyond perception, Of a stammering tongue that you cannot understand. 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A tabernacle that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken. 21 But there the majestic Lord will be for us A place of broad rivers and streams, In which no galley with oars will sail, Nor majestic ships pass by 22 (For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us); 23 Your tackle is loosed, They could not strengthen their mast, They could not spread the sail. 6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, It is made overflowing with fatness, With the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom. 7 The wild oxen shall come down with them, And the young bulls with the mighty bulls; Their land shall be soaked with blood, And their dust saturated with fatness.” 8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, The year of recompense for the cause of Zion. 9 Its streams shall be turned into pitch, And its dust into brimstone; Its land shall become burning pitch. 10 It shall not be quenched night or day; Its smoke shall ascend forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; No one shall pass through it forever and ever. 11 But the pelican and the porcupine shall possess it, Also the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the jackals, And the wild goat shall bleat to its companion; Also the night creature shall rest there, And find for herself a place of rest. They shall possess it forever; From generation to generation they shall dwell in it.” Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH_4X6QAIxE Duration 37:16

Many of us are waiting to hear from God about this journey we're on and the things we're pursuing. But in Genesis 45-46, we see that worship comes first.Jacob (the father of Israel) paused his journey to worship and sacrifice to the Lord. Then, God spoke: promises that were a balm to a fearful Jacob, and can be to us, as well. When we're in a place of unknowns, God give us these words: "I AM" and "I WILL". Navigating Change with God - Genesis 46 In this week's message, Andy shares a relatable anecdote about a mix-up at an airport, using it as a springboard to explore the theme of unexpected change and God's guidance. Drawing from Genesis 46, he unpacks Jacob's journey as a metaphor for the church's own transitions, specifically the shift to multiple Sunday services and the broader mission within the local community. Andy begins by highlighting the human element of the Genesis narrative. Jacob, settled in Canaan, the land promised by God, is suddenly faced with uprooting his entire family to move to Egypt to reunite with Joseph. This move represents a significant upheaval, a departure from familiar territory and perceived divine promises. Andy draws parallels to the experiences of those who have been displaced, acknowledging the pain and trauma associated with such transitions. The core message revolves around the idea that God often leads us through unexpected changes, challenging our preconceived notions of His plans. Just as Jacob had to let go of his understanding of God's promises in Canaan, we too must be open to God's redirection. Andy emphasizes that these shifts, while unsettling, are part of God's larger, unfolding plan. He identifies four key actions within the Genesis passage that provide guidance for navigating change: two human responses and two divine actions. Beersheba: Returning to the Cross (Genesis 46:1) Jacob's act of offering sacrifices at Beersheba, a place of significant spiritual history for his family, symbolizes the importance of returning to a place of worship and surrender. For us, this means consistently returning to the cross of Jesus Christ, especially during times of uncertainty. Andy emphasizes the importance of worship, sacrifice, surrender, prayer, and calling on God during times of change. He links this to the Easter season, highlighting the cross as a place of reconciliation and transformation. Responding to God's Voice (Genesis 46:2) God calls Jacob by name, prompting an immediate and attentive response. Andy stresses the importance of listening to God, of giving Him our undivided attention, and of being personally responsive to His call. In a world filled with distractions, we must actively seek God's voice and be ready to obey. God's Contextual Revelation (Genesis 46:3) God reminds Jacob that He is the God of his fathers, Abraham and Isaac, providing context for the current situation. This highlights that God's plans are far greater than individual circumstances. Andy connects this to God's overarching plan of redemption, emphasizing that our lives are part of a larger narrative. He references Genesis 15, where God foretells the sojourn in Egypt, illustrating that God's promises are being fulfilled. Andy encourages the audience to see their roles within God's grand design. God's Assurances (Genesis 46:3-4) God offers three "I will" statements: "I will make you into a great nation," "I will go down to Egypt with you," and "I will surely bring you back again." These promises provide comfort and assurance in the face of uncertainty. God's plans are not disrupted by geographical changes; He remains faithful to His promises. Andy highlights that God's presence and promises provide stability amidst turmoil. He also speaks about the idea of building for a future that we might not see, echoing the faith of the patriarchs in Hebrews 11. Andy applies these principles to the church's current situation, acknowledging the anxieties and questions surrounding the shift to multiple services and the community outreach projects. He emphasizes that these changes are part of God's plan to reach the local community and expand His kingdom. He encourages the church to embrace these changes with faith, trusting in God's promises and guidance. He closes by emphasising that God is building his church, and we are part of that process, even if we do not see the full outcome of our work. Andy reminds the congregation that their role is to participate in God's long-term plan, to be faithful, and to trust that God will ultimately fulfill His purposes. Bible References: Genesis 15:12-16 Genesis 46:1-4 Hebrews 11 Hebrews 12 Transcript do that great thing you sometimes need to do in airports and sit around and while away the time well while they saw to do a lot and then I noticed from where I was sat that it started boarding at a gate I could see so I went over to it and I queued up and I got to the gate and I showed my passport and boarding ticket and they waved me on and I went on down down the planes one of those planes with three seats either side of one of those really awful narrow aisles you know so you're walking down like this with your bags trying to get and because my seat was right at the back of the plane so I got to the back of the plane no somebody sat in my seat how dare you I've had a long week of work I'm trying to get home what are you doing in my seat and and the lady who sat there gets out her ticket and we compare tickets and it says the same seat number on both tickets yeah and then it slowly dawns I'm on the wrong plane yeah because cuz so my flight had been delayed and I was now standing on what was the next flight to Manchester whereas my original flight was even later alas so so so of course I'm right at the end of the plane with my bags and everybody else is coming down that very narrow aisle so I've now got it excuse me excuse me excuse me go and I get back to work to the gate I come back through the gate and the lady there says oh I'm so glad you've come back I shouldn't have let you on airport security brilliant anyway I tell that story because sometimes we end up in a place where we think we're in the right place and we're not we're actually need to be somewhere else somewhere different and as we get to Genesis 46 this morning I'm very I'm kind of intrigued by the way we've reached this chapter over the day we've announced moving to multiple services because I think and I hope you'll see this with me but there are some things here to help us navigate what's going to happen to us as a church as we move forward from here because we're now into the ending of Joseph the Joseph story all right and we've all enjoyed it for what seems like months I'm sure it was just weeks but we've all enjoyed it and we're now focus is shifting back slightly to Jacob so remember Genesis is about these three main guys Iberha Abraham Abraham his son Isaac and his son Jacob and focus in the Joseph story is now shifting back to Jacob and in one sense as we look as we've seen before we'll look at the human level to the story okay there's what's going on and the characters that are mentioned so so this is the culmination of Joseph's story we've seen how God's worked in him we've seen how he went through the whole thing of being thrown into the system by his brothers being sold into slavery ending up as a slave in Egypt being put in prison falsely being there for a number of years Pharaoh bringing him out so he's coming interpret his dreams and now whoosh he's number two in the land and he's in charge of all the food is in charge of deciding what tariffs to put on it and he's got that much power and he's dishing it out to the people in Egypt and the people from the nation's roundabout he is the guy with the power and we've seen all of that and now the story is coming he's reunited with his brothers and so he sends from Egypt lots of carts and stuff to go and gather his dad Jacob the rest of his brothers the whole family and all their livestock and have them come and move and live with him in Egypt where they can find all the food they're gonna need and they can be reunited as a family and so it's about Joseph sending to Canaan to gather the whole family and bring them back and you just think for a moment you know for Jacob he lived the latter part of his life in Canaan that was that was where he settled that's where his home was and that that was the land he knew that God had promised he would give to his people you know the promises that started off when God spoke to Abraham then Isaac and Jacob himself had heard about his descendants being as numerous as the sand on the seashore and God will give him a promised land to live in the land of Canaan so Jacob thinks I'm here I'm in the promised land of Canaan and now it looks like he's going to be uprooted and moved to Egypt you know and there are a number of you in this room that know what it means to be uprooted from your homeland and move somewhere else and go somewhere else and there's a lot of pain and trauma with that whole thing and it's a massive deal okay for it to happen and so you know for Jacob this is the land where his dad's buried where his granddad's buried where his wives are buried this is the land that he's lived out for the latter part of his life and now he's to leave all of that of course he wants to see Joseph absolutely and that's why he's going but nevertheless he's got to leave the land of promise in order to achieve that in order to get there you know and the story like so many of the chapters we've had today are like those movies with subplots you know all the time there's the big story that's going on but then there's a subplot happening and and what's happening with Joseph and Jacob is like a subplot to the big thing that's going on you know so one of my favorite films I'm sorry Saving Private Ryan is about Saving Private Ryan but it's in the context of a big issue of a war going on right that's the big thing so here there's a big story going on which is God's plan and purposes and God's promises to fulfill those plans and purposes and underneath that as we look at the story it's about Jacob and Joseph but there's this bigger thing going on this is a story so for Jacob this becomes a story about letting go of what you thought God was going to do this is a story about letting go of where you thought God had brought you to I'm in the promised land this is what God had promised yes but hang on a minute now he seems to be saying we need to move but how can we move when this is the place he brought us to and this we know is the promised land and if Jacob maybe for you and definitely for me sometimes we we build up a picture I thought God was like this I thought God was going to do this you know and we build up what we think God is like and what we think he will do and how we think the Holy Spirit will move based on our experience based on our reading a scripture and then every so often God comes along and and all his cards fall down and suddenly we're thinking oh wait a minute have I got that right I got that wrong what's going you know because we settle a bit like Jacob and we think this is it now this is what it's like following God and then just when we think we've got it God throws it all up in the air our assumptions our expectations our security and the and it all starts to land a little bit different you know for Jacob it's time to leave Canaan the land that was promised to him by God and go to Egypt does that mean God has given up on his plans does that mean God has forgotten his promises you know for Jacob does that would do will he start to think well hang on a minute if I haven't got that right maybe I've not got anything about God right ever been there thought like that and you know answer all these questions would come up because like it or not we are creatures of habit we don't like change and yet change is here to stay right but we don't like it and we develop our ideas of what God is like and what he will do and how he will move and then one day whoosh he's like he whips the rug out from under our feet oh you don't do it like that after all I thought you did God yeah I remember when our kids were going up there was sometimes lay the table for us for the meal you know and they read it really neatly and very kind of bizarrely structured you know with the the knife fork spoon salt pepper napkin drinks glass bottle all very neatly and every day it was exactly the same and sometimes I used to lose the love to go to the table and they weren't looking and do all that and it would freak them out you know don't do that don't do that I've laid it all out nice and neatly and you know it is sometimes it's like that we get our senses of this is what God is about we are in the Promised Land now and he loves to come along and just do all this it's like some of those Tommy Cooper jokes if you feel that age and it's hard isn't it it's difficult because you we just we think we've got it and then we realize we haven't and then we have a big challenge as we see Jacob does here and Rob what actually God is doing when that happens is he is leading us into the next part of his plan and our place like that you know it's like you made Jesus at the end of his life he's telling the disciples I'm gonna die I'm gonna go away and it's better for you that I do that and they're like no Peter's like no it's really good Lord that you we're having a great time we can how well we're hanging out together and we're loving it don't don't leave I'd be really bad and Jesus has to explain to them that actually it's better for you that I go because then I will send the Holy Spirit with you and they don't get it until after the resurrection right of course but but it's like that we build an expectation as we walk with Jesus well this is good this is comfortable I get it and then suddenly it changes because he is leading us into the next part of his plan because God does lead us into big changes right you know for Jacob his whole family is relocating the removal trucks have arrived from Egypt and he's piling them full with all his furniture all his livestock not only his but everything to do with the whole 66 people of his family that he's got living there and all they off go and you can imagine is the the removal trucks set off and he looks out the window and he thinks that's Canaan that's the promised land and we're leaving we're driving away what God what what you do what's going on and I just stirred because God is leading us into something new and exciting and big and different for us as a church we will not function like we do today and like we have done for the last 20 years on a Sunday morning anymore from six weeks time as you've heard it right it's gonna be different and if like me that's a bit scary it's a bit unnerving you know what is what do you mean there's no drinks after the first service this is a disaster but how are we gonna do that all possible station how am I gonna stay in touch with my friends across the church if they go to the other service how what's the life group gonna look like if half go to one service and a half go to the other etc etc and we've all got those sort of questions of how is this gonna work we've got a building project a half a million pound building project is gonna kick off later this year in a building over there that God is taking us into the community to develop hollow more stuff but at this point in time we don't see but it's a massive venture it's a huge thing and something we would never have imagined you know looking back down through the years we've been developing new acts of service in the community the hub church is going from strength to strength men and women are encountering Jesus for the first time in their lives and finding their lives being transformed Wow God God is going to take us deeper into the local community far more than anything we have ever seen before and we will find ourselves getting involved with things like gang culture drug culture addiction challenges but at the moment we haven't even scratched the surface because the gospel is there to transform the communities around us and God is going to do that but I tell you it's flipping scary all right and you know and also because we are creatures of comfort and habit we like it here I like my ten o'clock service I can crawl out a bed at half-past nine and roll down the hill and get there that kind of you know I like it I know what's going to happen unless they do that funny thing where you read the Bible in different languages but which is brilliant by the way but but I like it I've got used to it and that is part of the challenge isn't it of getting used to it and so what is happening in this story is that God is leading Jacob into the next part of his plan of God's plan and purpose and and the same I feel for us as a church God is leading us into his plan and the next part of his plan and purpose for us as a church in this community here but the question is what do we do when that happens because we do get scared and we do panic and whatever but in this passage I've just splashed water at me nose that's gonna look good on camera in it right thank you very much in this passage in this passage there's four things that happen two things that Jacob does and two things that God does that help us navigate these big changes when they come along and the challenges that they present to us okay the point number one is Beersheba right okay so in verse 1 we read in chapter 4 apologies I haven't read the whole chapter because we're out of time but there's a big chunk of list of names in the middle which you can read at home but I'm really speaking from the first opening verses verse 1 so Israel set out with all that was his and when he reached Beersheba he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac the first thing we need to do is go to Beersheba and sacrifice what I mean by that and what is happening is Jacob returned to a familiar but significant place in his life and worshiped God and surrendered to God and prayed to his God and called on his name it was it was a physical place for him he went to Beersheba because that was significant in his family it was here that Abraham had made a treaty with the Philistines when they argued over who owned a well that was an important issue for nomadic people looking after animals it was here that Isaac his dad had had come when they dug three wells he'd taken three wells to dig to find water that's another story but that was very relevant to 146 when we were looking at that and God had appeared to Isaac at that place and spoke to him so Isaac had built an altar at Beersheba and called on God and it was from here from Beersheba that Jacob had fled when he stole Esau's birthright and all the family thing exploded so it was a significant place in the life of him and his ancestors and so he worshipped and called on God there but while it was geographical for him as an actual place for you and I we need to come back to the cross in these times and worship and sacrifice and surrender and pray and call on God because you know when we're saying God I don't know what you're doing come back to the cross God I don't understand why is this happening come back to the cross God how is this working out your plan God come back to the cross it's interesting it's Easter week isn't it and that's exactly what we're going to be doing and concentrating through the week culminating in next weekend what an opportunity for us to do that as we grapple with everything that is happening in the world in the church and maybe in your own life let's be men and women this week who take seriously the opportunity to come back to the cross and worship and surrender and sacrifice and call on God together because the cross is the place where God did not spare his own son but gave him up for us all the cross is the place where Jesus lay down his life as a substitute so that God can look on you and I without displeasure and you and I can look on God without fear the cross is the place where Jesus rescued us from the hole that wickedness has on our lives the cross is the place where the sacrifice of Christ changes our standing before this holy God and the cross is the place where God was reconciled to us through the death of his son and we are reconciled to him through our surrender to that son it's the place where we move from lip service to heart service in saying Jesus is Lord and it's the place where God sifts our motives and our desires and see what is gold and what isn't so as we face these challenges together as a church and these new ventures and these big plans that God is moving us into let's learn what it is to be men and women who come back to the cross time and again and worship and call on him and allow him to deal with us and deal with our hearts that's the first thing second thing Jacob responds to God's voice verse 2 and God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said Jacob Jacob here I am he replied and you know God doesn't say Jacob Jacob because he doesn't know where he is you know it's not like Jacob Jacob it's not like he's calling for his cat at night at the back door but he knows where Jacob is right but the point is that Jacob knows he's got to give his attention to God that's why he's calling him right and and Jacob's response it isn't casual it isn't flippant it isn't ignoring God and just saying yeah this is I don't know if this happens in your house but you know and can be talking to me and I go yep yep yep and then after a while she'll say are you listening to me and I'll say yeah yeah okay what did I just say I've got anybody that identifies with that can we get in the corner together afterwards so that isn't what is happening here God is saying Jacob Jacob and Jacob says here I am because Jacob is stopping he's turning his head to God he's focusing on him and giving him his full attention he is listening he is responding personally to God's call to him the beautiful thing is God knows you by name he knows your name Wow he knows your name and he eyeballs you and he calls your name and when he does that we need to give him our attention we need to say I'm here Lord I want to listen I want to hear what it is you've got to say because God is gonna say we're gonna talk about a few things here son and they're very important yeah and so the second point is really allowing God to get our attention we come to the cross number one number two we allow God to get our attention and we listen and we push aside the distractions and the stuff that would normally get in the way that's to that that's number two number three and these last two are what God does so what we do we come to the cross and we give God our attention number three verse three I am God the God of your father he said I am God the God of your father you see this what I believe God is saying it's Jacob what we need to take courage from is that God is speaking context into what is happening in Jacob's life right now as he leaves Canaan and goes off to Egypt and he is pointing out he's reminding him he is that God is the God of his father Isaac and therefore the God of his father Abraham the God of creation the God who has a plan and a purpose that he has promised to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob and that plan that promise is being worked out if that's why when we pray like today for a team going to Zambia it's not just about a two-week trip to Zambia because there's nothing else to do God is working out his plans and his purposes and the guys in the team are figuring out what are their role in God's plans and purposes and it's a it's a context statement I'm the God of your father this isn't just about you Jacob and what is happening to you and to your family you see when God saved you when God rescued you when God plucked you out and pulled you up it wasn't just about you but about drawing you and I into something much bigger than our own lives that he is doing you know and though it may feel like a massive thing to Jacob to uproot his whole family because actually moving house is one of the top three most stressful things that we ever do isn't it I think that's right and he's moving 66 people and all the animals and everything in all his possessions and although that may feel like a massive thing there is something much bigger going on here Jacob than just that the plans and purposes of God are unfolding you see way back in Genesis 15 God spoke to his granddad to Jacob's granddad Abraham and chapter 15 verse 12 was the summer setting Abraham fell into a deep sleep and a thick dreadful darkness came over him then the Lord said to him know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a country not their own and they will be enslaved and mistreated 400 years but I will punish the nation they serve as slaves and afterwards they will come out with great possessions and what is happening in Jacob and his life at that point in time is the very beginnings of God fulfilling that word that he promised to his grandfather so there is something much bigger happening than just simply Jacob and his family moving and so this is stretching our eyes of faith to see that yes I've called you by name yes I know you personally but I've called you personally to be involved in my plans and purposes that God is working out in his kingdom that's why we often talk about you know if we think about the creation of the world when God spoke and created everything at this end of a line and then at the other end of the line Jesus is going to return for a bride that's made itself ready for the church that is ready for him when he returns and God is going to wrap up history and our life is this bit here that's a context thing that God is in charge that's why we sing we will meet him in the air we will be like him because we will see him as he is you know the suffering that you go through now is a context thing we will see Jesus as he is and we will be like him that's where we're heading towards and Jesus will return when his bride has made itself ready and you and I are part of his bride the church is the bride of Christ and Jesus is making his church ready and he's caught you and I up in his plan for that to happen and so as we look at something like oh but I don't like going to two services I've got lots of questions about it absolutely we need to see that in the context of what Jesus is doing he's preparing his bride ready to come back one day you see this is a reminder to what God has said and done in and through Abraham and Isaac and what Jacob is doing is standing on the shoulders of his ancestors and what you and I are doing are standing on the shoulders of our church ancestors for the last 2,000 years plus in the nations you represent and in this nation today and the state of the church of where it's at the baton is with us the baton is with you and me every single one of us in this room God has given us the baton to lead the charge for his church today and we will hand that on at some point in a minute but but but we have been given that mantle today and we stand on the shoulders of the people that have gone before us and press on I think Eugene Peterson said this really is about a long obedience in the same direction and the trouble for us today is so much of life it is about changing things all the time about sound bites about being instantaneous about being superficial about a fad and the Church of Christ cannot function like that at all because we are called to a long obedience in the same direction and pursue Jesus through these things God is working out his plans and his purposes and they trump the circumstances of our lives they do for Jacob and they do for you and for me and finally the fourth point God speaks it says do not be afraid and he gives three I will statements which we just need to take note of that was a note thank you three I will statements very quickly I will make you into a great nation he reminds Jacob that his promises remain true that what he spoke to Abraham what he spoke to Isaac and what he said to Jacob himself still remains true yes you are leaving Canaan which is the promised land but guess what my promise remains true I will make you into a great nation their promises of God are not affected by a change in geography what I have originally said I would do I will do it is still gonna happen and my plans are not upset by something like this and we need to hear my plans for God's plans for our lives are not affected by these types of things more than that this is how I'm actually going to bring them about Jacob you move into Egypt just doesn't disrupt my plans in fact the very opposite is true you leaving Canaan and going to Egypt is actually me bringing about my plan and purpose there is no plan B but it's not like God takes his plans and puts them on the back burner for 400 years while they go off down to Egypt and all that stuff happens and then when Moses and Joshua bring them back to the promised land he picks it up again and gets going no doesn't happen like that what is happening in your life and my life right now is absolutely wrapped up with God's plans and purposes and we need to begin to see it from that perspective and start to figure that out and work through it as we cope with a sea of change with uncertainty with so many questions yes in the world today yes in the church yes even in our own lives the promises of God remain true they are yes and amen in Christ Jesus he is the anchor second thing God says I will go down to Egypt with you wow that's amazing God is gonna go with you Jacob this same God who has these promises that he's holding on to he's going with you she this is the difference between giving somebody directions and taking them there yourself yeah that has a massive impact on the person you're talking to if you just try and explain particularly if there's a language challenge or or they don't know the area it's a huge difference but God says I'm gonna go with you Jacob that's amazing there's all this upset all this trauma all this effort but God is going with you and as we face uncertain futures and the challenges that that brings the Word of God is that he is going with us and he will bring stability in the midst of the turmoil that is spinning around he is going with us nothing has changed he is still working out his plans and his purposes and thirdly he says I will surely bring you back again I smiled because I thought in the context of two services I don't think that necessarily means God will bring us back but you never know if numbers drop we will come back to one service right but but but I think for Jacob what he's saying is my word will complete what it set out to do you will come back to the Promised Land and again there's up two levels of the story for Jacob he dies and Joseph arranged for his body to be brought back to Canaan to be buried with his dad and his granddad where they were but on the bigger scheme of things God is at work and 400 years later Moses leads the people out of Egypt and Joshua brings them across the River Jordan back in to Canaan and back to the Promised Land God's people will return and the fulfillment of God's plans might not happen in our generation Jacob didn't see any of this in fact the whole nation of Israel that grew up in Egypt and then left Egypt didn't see it they all died in the wilderness and a new generation of the Promised Land and this is a massive thing because this says to us what we're doing here in the church is we're building for a future that we will not see how does that sit with you because it's the complete opposite of where you normally do life right we're very preoccupied with what we can see and rightly so a lot of the time but God is is you is working in our hearts and in our lives and he is building a church and we're working with it and to build something that you and I will not see in our lifetime but maybe our kids will maybe our grandkids will maybe our great-grandkids will who knows and what a challenge that is but when we get that and I think believe Jacob understood that and we'll see why in a minute is that's when the shift happens and the perspective begins to really change in your heart and in my heart because we want to see his name glorified we want to see his plans come to pass and not ours and not mine see in Hebrews 12 no Hebrews 11 a great passage of faith we read about Abraham and Isaac and Jacob all these people were still living by faith when they died they did not receive the things promised they only saw them unwelcome them from a distance and they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth people who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own if they have been thinking of the country they'd left they would have had opportunity to return instead they were longing for a better country a heavenly one therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God hallelujah for he has prepared a city for them so the shift happens and we begin to see God this is about you and I want to shift the priorities in my life and make it more about you Lord because God will surely fulfill his word amen amen you

When men give it to one who can read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, “Read this,” he says, “I cannot read.”13 And the Lord said:“Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me,and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men,14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder;and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”15 Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”16 You turn things upside down!Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”;or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?17 Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest?18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.19 The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel.20 For the ruthless shall come to nothing and the scoffer cease, and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,21 who by a word make a man out to be an offender, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right.22 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:“Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale.23 For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name;they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.24 And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”Sermon Outline1. The inner threat of indifference (v. 9-12)v. 9-10: Astonish yourselves and be astonished; blind yourselves and be blind! Be drunk, but not with wine; stagger, but not with strong drink! Who knows us?”3. The rescue we need from the outside (v. 14, 17-24)v. 14: Therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder.v. 22-23: Therefore thus says the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.Prayer of ConfessionHeavenly Father, there are real threats all around us, but we fail to admit that we ourselves are a threat. We struggle with indifference and do not marvel at how wonderful you are. We struggle with pride and make too much of ourselves. Instead of seeing people for their innate worth, we strip them of their dignity and see them as objects. We look to you as a means for our personal gain. But how amazing is your grace that you rescue us when we do not deserve it, and you extend mercy even though we deserve judgment. May your grace and patience towards us transform our hearts and minds to be more like Jesus. We pray this in his name. John the Baptist has been imprisoned by Herod Antipas. We don't know when exactly this happened, but it is mentioned in Matthew 11. We do know why he was imprisoned. You see John the Baptist had a problem with the “Jewish” ruler being married to Herodias because she was first the wife of his brother, Philip. Now that sounds bad enough on its own, but it gets worse if you dig a little deeper. I was curious so of course I did. Herod Antipas was the son of Herod the Great. We know him because he was king when Jesus was born. He's the one that talked with the Magi back in Matthew 2. Although he was crazy and sometimes brutal, he is a fascinating character. An Edomite by birth. That means not Jewish. But who were the Edomites? I'm glad you asked. Edom is from the line of Esau. Remember him? Esau was the twin brother of Jacob…Jacob became Israel. Father Isaac, Grandfather Abraham. (Genesis 25:19-34) However, Herod's father converted to Judaism. His father was also granted Roman citizenship by Julius Caesar. So that makes Herod half Jewish and a Roman citizen. He started his political career as governor of Galilee and then a tetrarch of Galilee and finally became King of Judea. He ruled for 32 years. He did some great things while king. He rebuilt the Temple and endowed his territory with fortresses and palaces and new cities. Herod the Great had at least 10 wives and 14 children. He divorced his first wife (Doris) and banished her and his son from court. He did this because he fell in love with Mariamne, a Hasmonean princess. It is believed that he truly did love her even though he kept taking more wives. But then he got jealous and suspicious and had her murdered along with her two sons, her brother, her father, and her mother. This left some orphans and instead of just kicking them out, Herod espoused them to another member of his family. Keep this in mind.Read the rest of the show notes on our website Nothin' But Fine.---Check out the Nothin' But Fine blog and website.Follow us on social media: Instagram Facebook Twitter YouTube Want everything in your inbox? We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws.We have left undone those things which we ought to have done, and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and apart from your grace, there is no health in us. O Lord, have mercy upon us. Spare all those who confess their faults. Restore all those who are penitent, according to your promises declared to all people in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may now live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy Name. Amen.Officiant: Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep us in eternal life. Amen. The Lord's PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. Invitatory & PsalmsOfficiant: O God, make speed to save us. People: O Lord, make haste to help us. Officiant & People: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. O Gracious Light Phos hilaronO gracious Light, pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven, O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed! Now as we come to the setting of the sun, and our eyes behold the vesper light, we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, O Son of God, O Giver of life, and to be glorified through all the worlds. Psalm 75 Confitebimur tibi1We give you thanks, O God, we give you thanks, *calling upon your Name and declaring all your wonderful deeds.2“I will appoint a time,” says God; *“I will judge with equity.3Though the earth and all its inhabitants are quaking, *I will make its pillars fast.4I will say to the boasters, ‘Boast no more,' *and to the wicked, ‘Do not toss your horns;5Do not toss your horns so high, *nor speak with a proud neck.' ”6For judgment is neither from the east nor from the west, *nor yet from the wilderness or the mountains.7It is God who judges; *he puts down one and lifts up another.8For in the Lord's hand there is a cup, full of spiced and foaming wine, which he pours out, *and all the wicked of the earth shall drink and drain the dregs.9But I will rejoice for ever; *I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.10He shall break off all the horns of the wicked; *but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted. Psalm 76 Notus in Judæa1In Judah is God known; *his Name is great in Israel.2At Salem is his tabernacle, *and his dwelling is in Zion.3There he broke the flashing arrows, *the shield, the sword, and the weapons of battle.4How glorious you are! *more splendid than the everlasting mountains!5The strong of heart have been despoiled;they sink into sleep; *none of the warriors can lift a hand.6At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, *both horse and rider lie stunned.7What terror you inspire! *who can stand before you when you are angry?8From heaven you pronounced judgment; *the earth was afraid and was still;9When God rose up to judgment *and to save all the oppressed of the earth.10Truly, wrathful Edom will give you thanks, *and the remnant of Hamath will keep your feasts.11Make a vow to the Lord your God and keep it; *let all around him bring gifts to him who is worthy to be feared.12He breaks the spirit of princes, *and strikes terror in the kings of the earth. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. The LessonsIsaiah 29:15-24 English Standard VersionAh, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”You turn things upside down!Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”;or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest? In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see.The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel. For the ruthless shall come to nothing and the scoffer cease, and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off,who by a word make a man out to be an offender, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right. Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:“Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name;they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. He has mercy on those who fear him * in every generation. He has shown the strength of his arm, * he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, * and has lifted up the lowly. Revelation 18:11-24 English Standard VersionAnd the merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.“The fruit for which your soul longed has gone from you,and all your delicacies and your splendors are lost to you, never to be found again!”The merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, will stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,“Alas, alas, for the great city that was clothed in fine linen, in purple and scarlet, adorned with gold, with jewels, and with pearls! For in a single hour all this wealth has been laid waste.”And all shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off and cried out as they saw the smoke of her burning,“What city was like the great city?”And they threw dust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,“Alas, alas, for the great city where all who had ships at sea grew rich by her wealth! For in a single hour she has been laid waste.Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her!”Then a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,“So will Babylon the great city be thrown down with violence, and will be found no more;and the sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters, will be heard in you no more, and a craftsman of any craft will be found in you no more, and the sound of the mill will be heard in you no more, and the light of a lamp will shine in you no more, and the voice of bridegroom and bride will be heard in you no more, for your merchants were the great ones of the earth, and all nations were deceived by your sorcery. And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on earth.”Officiant: The Word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God. The Song of Simeon - Nunc dimittisLord, you now have set your servant free * to go in peace as you have promised; For these eyes of mine have seen the Savior, * whom you have prepared for all the world to see: A Light to enlighten the nations, * and the glory of your people Israel.Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up our selves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages. Amen.A Prayer of St. ChrysostomAlmighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplication to you; and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his Name you will be in the midst of them: Fulfill now, O Lord, our desires and petitions as may be best for us; granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come life everlasting. Amen. ConclusionMay the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen. - Romans 15:13
In the final part of our Jacob series, Ben preaches from chapter 33 of Genesis where Jacob is finally confronted with his brother again after 20 years. From this interaction, we learn of how Jesus is himself the better old brother to all of us.
Isaiah 29 29 Woe, O Ariel, Ariel the city where David once camped!Add year to year, observe your feasts on schedule.2 I will bring distress to Ariel,And she will be a city of lamenting and mourning; And she will be like an Ariel to me.3 I will camp against you encircling you,And I will set siegeworks against you,And I will raise up battle towers against you.4 Then you will be brought low; From the earth you will speak,And from the dust where you are prostrateYour words will come.Your voice will also be like that of a spirit from the ground,And your speech will whisper from the dust. 5 But the multitude of your enemies will become like fine dust,And the multitude of the ruthless ones like the chaff which blows away; And it will happen instantly, suddenly.6 From the Lord of hosts you will be punished with thunder and earthquake and loud noise,With whirlwind and tempest and the flame of a consuming fire.7 And the multitude of all the nations who wage war against Ariel,Even all who wage war against her and her stronghold, and who distress her,Will be like a dream, a vision of the night.8 It will be as when a hungry man dreams—And behold, he is eating; But when he awakens, his hunger is not satisfied,Or as when a thirsty man dreams—And behold, he is drinking,But when he awakens, behold, he is faintAnd his thirst is not quenched. Thus the multitude of all the nations will beWho wage war against Mount Zion. 9 Be delayed and wait,Blind yourselves and be blind; They become drunk, but not with wine,They stagger, but not with strong drink.10 For the Lord has poured over you a spirit of deep sleep,He has shut your eyes, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, the seers. 11 The entire vision will be to you like the words of a sealed book, which when they give it to the one who is literate, saying, “Please read this,” he will say, “I cannot, for it is sealed.” 12 Then the book will be given to the one who is illiterate, saying, “Please read this.” And he will say, “I cannot read.” 13 Then the Lord said, “Because this people draw near with their wordsAnd honor Me with their lip service,But they remove their hearts far from Me,And their reverence for Me consists of tradition learned by rote,14 Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise men will perish,And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed.” 15 Woe to those who deeply hide their plans from the Lord,And whose deeds are done in a dark place,And they say, “Who sees us?” or “Who knows us?”16 You turn things around!Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay,That what is made would say to its maker, “He did not make me”;Or what is formed say to him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? 17 Is it not yet just a little whileBefore Lebanon will be turned into a fertile field,And the fertile field will be considered as a forest?18 On that day the deaf will hear words of a book,And out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see.19 The afflicted also will increase their gladness in the Lord,And the needy of mankind will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.20 For the ruthless will come to an end and the scorner will be finished,Indeed all who are intent on doing evil will be cut off;21 Who cause a person to be indicted by a word,And ensnare him who adjudicates at the gate,And defraud the one in the right with meaningless arguments. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall not now be ashamed, nor shall his face now turn pale;23 But when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst,They will sanctify My name;Indeed, they will sanctify the Holy One of JacobAnd will stand in awe of the God of Israel.24 “Those who err in mind will know the truth,And those who criticize will accept instruction. As we continue our series looking at the life of Jacob and the scandalous grace of God, we reach the famous passage where Jacob wrestles with God. JP challenges us on our own self-reliance, reminding us that God is the great initiator.
In today's message Austin preaches from Genesis 31 where Jacob flees Laban initially, but we see as his journey progresses that there's a reconciliation. As a result Jacob and Laban build a pillars as a mark of this moment.
This week in our series looking at the life of Jacob, we learn all about Jacob's children. Through this biblical story, JP explores the topics of infertility, the loss of children, and family strife; through it all we find the tenderness and comfort of God.
In the next part of our Jacob series, we discover how Jacob ends up marrying both Leah and Rachel. Loyin explores the way this story shows how God's promises always come to pass, even if the circumstances of life suggest otherwise.
In part two of our Jacob series Tim preaches from Genesis 28 and unpacks the meaning behind the famous dream Jacob has of a ladder ascending to heaven and how Jesus is our true "ladder" today, our way to God.
Jacob is afraid of his brother Esau, who he fears still wants to kill him. In the middle of the night, Jacob (literally) wrestles God! He will never be the same after this encounter.

Jacob & Sons' Noah Jacob joins us to take us through his journey that started as a filmmaker and director of documentaries in NYC, where he fell in love with the Jewish deli culture. After interning and experiencing some of the greats in New York, Jacob and his family moved west to California, where they started a catering business with large corporations as clients. The business was thriving, until the pandemic hit. Overnight, orders and events were canceled, and there was no business. His next move was back to where he grew up, Portland. The plan was to open a brick and mortar restaurant, starting with pop-ups featuring all the great food he was making, using fine Northwest products and traditional Jewish deli practices and recipes. Eventually, he opened wholesale and retail operation, supplying stores like Zupan's with his superior smoked fish and other products, including his traditional rye bread. Listen to Noah's story and a fun discussion on traditional Jewish smoked salmon versus the Northwest variety. Restoration of the Saints (9) (Audio) David Eells - 9/11/22 The Divine Image Destroyed May 4, 2021 - By Christine Beadsworth Below is a portion of this blog page by Christine Beadsworth: The Holy Spirit has been speaking much to me about the forceful drive being perpetuated worldwide to introduce a purported medicine via needle into every human on the planet. I have received a number of dreams bringing revelation and understanding and I feel led to share these things in a series of posts. He started by showing me the whole scenario from God's point of view as He watches His beautiful creation being sabotaged. The visual picture which the Holy Spirit used was a wonderfully crafted palace, surrounded by a high wall. This amazing edifice was guarded day and night from intruders and only the King and those carefully vetted attendants serving him were allowed access. Then one day, a very destructive device was smuggled into the palace by a trusted page boy and the king was unaware that right within the Throne-room, the enemy had positioned one of his henchmen. We can see the same scenario in the positioning of Haman right next to king Xerxes. Oblivious to the danger, king Xerxes handed Haman his signet ring and gave him permission to send out a death decree (Esther 3:8). The human cell nucleus is that walled palace. The human cell is created with a nucleus wall to protect the scroll of DNA within its nucleus. Just like a wall is built around a palace to protect the ruler of a nation, these very important unique documents (our books or DNA scrolls) are guarded from marauders. Nothing is allowed to breach that wall and only trusted messengers are permitted to enter or leave that hallowed place. From within the nucleus, orders are issued by the DNA and carried by the messenger RNA through the nucleus wall to the golgi apparatus, which is a factory making proteins to build and strengthen the body. No other substance can pass through that wall except human mRNA. It is considered trustworthy to carry and deliver the messages issued. I once heard a plant virologist describe mRNA like a shopping trolley. You can load whatever you want in it and it will transport it to the intended destination. Now this works well when the human body is not interfered with. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. MRNA faithfully carries the instructions issued by the unique DNA dwelling in the nucleus citadel. Psa 139:14-16 I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are marvellous and my soul knows it very well. 15 My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret and skillfully formed in the lowest parts of the earth. Psa 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book (scroll) all the days [of my life] were written (engraved) before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. Now, did you know that every single strand of human DNA is marked with the name of God. “How?” you ask… Because there are sulphide bonds holding together the two strands of DNA and they occur after the 10th pair of nucleotides, again after the 5th pair of nucleotides, then 6 pairs later and then again 5 pairs later. The 10th letter of the Hebrew alphabet is yod. The 5th letter is hey. The 6th letter is vav. Yod, hey, vav, hey spells ‘Yahweh'. I will say it again – God's name is on every human chromosome. You are made in His image and sealed with the Name of your Creator. Every cell in your body is hallmarked! And it is this very Divine hallmark that the enemy desires to obliterate. By injecting loaded messenger RNA into cells, one can sneak fragments of foreign enemy DNA through the carefully guarded nuclear cell walls and unload their contents into the scroll of DNA that God wrote for you. That's like pasting some pages of a counterfeit author's book into the middle of the instruction blueprint God wrote. What is actually happening is that the name of God written into the sulphide bond arrangement in the DNA scroll is being erased. The beautiful scroll engraved by God to create a man in His image is being sabotaged and from that moment of splicing onward, instead of instructions being released from the palace for life and health and security of the body, the inserted DNA loads up the mRNA trolley with instructions for the protein factory in the cell outside the palace to start manufacturing enemy spike proteins. The protein factory just does what it is told. Whatever orders arrive from headquarters are immediately carried out. To put it simply, once the potion is injected into the body, every single citadel guarding scrolls signed with the Name of the Creator within you is highjacked and forced to issue instructions to manufacture weapons of death – which will not only kill you at some point, but also the people around you. It is a cleverly engineered coup on a worldwide scale to throw off the rulership of God over His creation. So who is behind this dastardly plot? What does Psalm 2 say? Psa 2:2-3 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. The word for ‘band' means ‘bond, halter, restraint'. Is it not the carefully placed sulphide bonds that depict Yahweh's Name which are disrupted and broken asunder by the vaccine contents? The word ‘cord' in Hebrew also means ‘entwined, rope, thick boughs'. Is the DNA not entwined like a rope? Perhaps you can now see the plan of the kings of the earth; the elite, who are banding together and arraying themselves against the Lord. The plan is to highjack His creation, destroy His image, remove His signature and transform the human body into a genetically modified part human/part computer, which can be controlled externally. Sounds like science fiction, but tragically it is the truth. Satan hates all who are made in God's image; every earthen vessel that is intended to become a dwelling place of His Spirit, receiving daily communication from the Throne room of Heaven. For centuries he has been content to defile the bodies and souls of man by luring them into sin of every kind, but, always, his greatest ambition has been to sit in the place intended only for God in the human body. 2 Th 2:4 says that his intention is to ‘sit as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth as if he is God'. Many are waiting for the third temple to be built so that the antichrist can go and sit in it, but THE BODY OF CHRIST IS THE 3RD TEMPLE; a temple not built with hands – and the diabolical deception currently underway is the first step in the rollout of the plan to install the abomination that causes desolation right within the holy place of the 3rd temple! In the holy place, the place where the unique engraved scroll of your Creator is stored in a walled citadel, the enemy has already lifted up his battle cry. How apt is the cry of the psalmist in Psa 74:3-11 Direct Your feet [quickly] to the perpetual ruins and desolations; the foe has devastated and desecrated everything in the sanctuary. 4 In the midst of Your Holy Place Your enemies have roared [with their battle cry]; they set up their own [idol] emblems for signs [of victory]. 5 They seemed like men who lifted up axes upon a thicket of trees to make themselves a record. 6 And then all the carved wood of the Holy Place they broke down with hatchets and hammers. 7 They have set Your sanctuary on fire; they have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name by casting it to the ground. …10 O God, how long is the adversary to scoff and reproach? Is the enemy to blaspheme and revile Your name forever? 11 Why do You hold back Your hand, even Your right hand? Draw it out of Your bosom and consume them [make an end of them]! ‘They have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name' — there is no better description of what is happening worldwide in the human body than these words. And in every nation, believers are being coerced into taking the supposed health inducing jab. Is this not causing the ‘great falling away' described in 2 Th 2:3? The totality of the scheme is to leave the 3rd temple desolate, destroyed, overtaken and subjugated to an ancient enemy who always coveted God's throne and the worship of God's Bride. Apostasia, the Greek for ‘falling away', means ‘defection from truth' and comes from Strongs G647, which means ‘to separate, the writing of divorcement'. How significant that a fragment of DNA writing is what separates or breaks asunder the record of God's Name in the human DNA! Now obviously the smuggling in of the death warrant to the guarded throne room involves deception and subterfuge. No-one would allow such an intrusion if it was advertised by its true content. The coup is enacted under the guise of delivery of a basket of wishes for health and happiness. (Pity, there is a poisoned apple in the fruit bowl!) Revelation chapter 18 speaks of the judgement that is incurred by those who carry out this deception. As you read the selected verse, remember that the Greek word translated ‘sorceries' is pharmakeia, the word from which we get ‘pharmacy, dispenser of medicine', Rev 18:23b …For your merchants were the great ones of the earth; for by your sorceries all nations were deceived. So it is pharmaceutical deceptions which are employed to pull the wool over the eyes of all the nations. 2 Th 2:11 says a ‘strong delusion' is released so that people believe a lie. The Greek for ‘delusion' comes from a root word meaning ‘deceiver or imposter'. So the recurring theme is deception which brings destruction. No surprise that pharmakeia also means ‘witchcraft', and comes from a root word meaning ‘drug, poisoner'. Poison is intended to induce the death of the victim. The Word tells us that the life is in the blood. It is surely no coincidence that the foreign spike proteins – which the human body is induced to produce after it is highjacked, trigger blood clots; which in turn cause fatal heart attacks and strokes. It is satan who seeks to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly. Satan desires to remove God's image and replace it with his image (Rev 14:9). He plans to remove God's name and replace it with his name (Rev 14:11). Ask yourself who else could be behind the erasing of God's Name in your DNA scroll. Beloved, God says His people perish for lack of knowledge. Many pastors and shepherds worldwide are urging their congregations to receive the phamakeia they offer. May the sheep wake up and see the edge of the precipice before they plunge over it. I would urge you to guard and keep your temple holy unto the Lord. Do not allow it to be breached. Cherish His Name encoded into the scroll of life within you and take refuge under the shadow of His wings. Do not run to Egypt or Babylon for help. Do all you can to boost your divinely built immune system… and do not allow yourself to be deceived. Be a lover of Truth. Seek truth. Go after it. 2 Th 2 is clear that it is those who do not love truth who will fall prey to the strong delusion wrapping its fingers around the globe. Do not succumb to those who call evil good and scheme to overthrow and render your holy place desolate. You will pay for it with your life. Rather entrust yourself to Him Who is the Truth, the Life and the way. Choose life that you and your children may live! 2Co 6:16-18 And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, “I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 17 Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and DO NOT TOUCH THE UNCLEAN THING. And I will receive you 18 and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. Is This Why They Want to Change our DNA? Transcript of Rumble Video: Uncensored Sam - 9/9/21 God's true name is recorded within our DNA. So, just let me go ahead and explain. Our chains of DNA contain four nucleotide-based pairs called Adenine, Guanine, Thiamine, and Cytosine. And then there's a unit within the DNA strand called a sulfuric bridge. This sulfuric bridge holds our entire DNA strand together. It only appears after every ten nucleic acids have been laid down, and then after every five nucleic acids, then after every six, and then again, after every five nucleic acids. So, we get this repeating numerical value of 10, 5, 6, 5 within our DNA strand. Well, it turns out the Biblical name for God, YHWH, contains the same numerical value as our DNA strand. Yod He Vav He equals ten, five, six, five. What's even more interesting is that if you take the Hebrew characters of the name of YHWH and place it on its side, you get the image of a human being. Part three of this video series suggests that DNA is a language. Many people were wondering what “god" made the language of DNA. Researchers at Harvard University announced today that they have found what appears to be a message from God written inside the human genome. In a little-explored section of non-coding DNA, a team of top geneticists discovered a 22-word snippet of ancient Aramaic in which God confirms His existence and His role in creating life on Earth. “We knew the patterns weren't naturally occurring,” explains Charles Watson, the lead scientist on the project, “but we couldn't come up with any convincing explanation for them. On a whim, we started cross-referencing the patterns with language databases,” he explains, “and we were shocked to find that the patterns corresponded to ancient Aramaic.” Stunned by its discovery, the team contacted language experts familiar with Aramaic – the language Jesus Christ spoke in daily life. Entirely decoded, the message reads: "Hello my children, This is Yahweh, the One True Lord. You have found creation's secret. Now share it peacefully with the world." Go tell the world Who is the true God and Creator of all! DNA: Good and Evil Seed Kenneth (David's notes in red) Here below is an amazing testimony of a 16-year-old young lady from South Africa. It is an astonishing confirmation of the battle of good and evil and how it lives within us from birth. It is again a supernatural confirmation of the truths found in the Bible from Genesis through Revelation. It is a confirmation of the Daniel 2:43 problem where "they" mingle themselves with the seed of man. GLORY TO JESUS. I pray this both edifies and blesses you with the reality of how our science, indeed God's science, is found in our Holy Bible. DNA Structure ~ A Word from I AM to His True Set-Apart Bride in these End Times - July 9, 2013 at 6:23am ... given through His beloved daughter, Sarah (16 years old) on 5th July 2013 ... Please NOTE that this Word from the mouth of Yahushua haMashiach is not specific to South Africa only, but is for His Set-apart Bride collectively. Yeshua stood next to me dressed in white light, He stretched out His pierced hand and said, "Come with Me, My Sarah Princess, My Deborah warrior"... It was as if we were eagles, flying over South Africa. He showed me different things in the country. I saw fires in many places. Yeshua smiled and said, "It's My fire; My Spirit is fanning the flame in the hearts of those who choose to walk the road less traveled, in those who choose to let go of the passions of the flesh, I am busy in this country you call home, My love. There are many things to come as you know". I see a big statue of Nelson Mandela with a rainbow around it. Yeshua looked at it and turned His face... "Sarah, look at the way people make an idol out of man - REPENT THEREOF". Then He said, "The nation's pride will come to a fall". I saw the statue slowly diminishing on the inside until there was nothing left on the inside of the statue, but it was still standing. I saw people crying, lots of people stood in groups and cried. "Tell those who so humbly and faithfully stand in the gap for this nation, pray and plead for this nation that they will soon start to see the fruit of their supplication". While He said that, I saw many people praying and repenting for the things in this country. (This should be done in whatever nation you are. The fruit of that worldly nation will be the elect of God.) "My love, remember I said in My Book, I put before you light and darkness, blessing and curse, and you have the choice; which one do you choose? You are between two Kingdoms, My love. At the same time I am busy, the wicked one is also busy... I AM shining My glorious light through the words of My prophets and messengers and those who give ear will receive blessing, the blessing of knowing the truth and having it make you free. I want to speak to you about what I am busy with so that My people can catch up with My heartbeat, so that they can dance in the rhythm of My ways, My truths, My desires... "I am busy gathering My bride into the ark where she will be safe. It is only those who have cleansed their DNA, those who have pure blood that can enter. Sarah, tell My people to give attention to what I will tell you now; it is very important, it is a matter of purity and harlotry, salvation and deception, luke-warmness and fire... Give ear!" The next moment, it was as if I was inside of a body and I see conception taking place, the sperm cell and the egg cell colliding, merging and 'becoming' a baby. I see the seed in very much detail; there were these little things like white vessels that looked like trees inside the seed (family trees, our genetic inheritance from our parents in the world). At the same time, while I was looking at that, I also saw that the seed is like a book and there are many, many words inside that very tiny seed. (Words pass along to our physical seed, cursing or blessing, by our nature). (The seed of the spiritual man is like a book also, the Bible. Our meditation on the Word empowers and releases the spiritual man to control the physical man and the demons.) (Kenneth's comment: The Psalmist wrote: Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect (unformed); and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. (Psalm 139:16) Yeshua started to speak to me about the DNA once again... "My love, do you see? Look at it; it's beautiful... out of these little tiny seeds a human grows, inside of these little seeds I put everything for a baby to grow; it is perfect (it was very, very special to see Yeshua so excited about how perfect and amazing and AWESOME He made the human body, soul and spirit). Look inside the seed, do you see the written things? It is a code, it's a DNA code; it's far above what any human can understand. That code, My love, determines who that baby will be, that code will form its character, personality, likes and dislikes. It forms the body and it forms the soul, but not the spirit. The spirit is born of Spirit, My Spirit. In your spirit you inherit My DNA when you are saved, but this DNA, this seed and inheritance, is not saved yet. Sarah, inside of that seed is blessing and curse, sin and righteousness as an inheritance from your fathers. (For this reason mad scientists want to recreate the DNA after their own liking by perverting the food, water, and air and by va/cci/nes. This way they can create the body of the beast.) "This DNA is very, very important. Inside of the DNA code, there are supposed to be key essentials so that your body and soul can function the way I purposed them to. These seeds in the DNA are love proteins, and when you are born, the seed will sprout if it is exposed to the right elements. The mother and father are to nurture, comfort, affirm, accept and love this gift from Me and the result will be gender identity and spiritual identity, a healthy and whole soul and body. But now the babies are being exposed to trauma - even at birth - with the way this precious child comes into this world. The children are vulnerable to whatever the parents expose them to, even in the womb, and it has a great effect on them. (Speak blessing over the unborn.) It is the parents' work to build the child's identity through teaching them to find their identity in Me, but they are exposed to the trauma of rejection (opening them up to demonic bondage)... "This DNA speaks all the time. It speaks of every word written inside of it. You can hear it and I can hear it too; you hear it in your mind every day. Sarah, your inherited DNA affects your soul and body in a great, great way. Let Me explain to you how it affects you in a physical and mental way. Your soul area is your mind, will, emotions, desires. The seed in your DNA grows like trees throughout your soul. For example, if you inherited a seed of rejection, that seed will carry the hurts and pain of the generations before you. (We have seen this to be true. Many don't know why they are the way they are, always lusting for acceptance and admiration from others. Rejecting any correction or person that knows about them.) That seed is in you and when you experience any kind of trauma, trauma at birth, as a child, or any kind of trauma, the seed sprouts and a stronghold forms inside your soul. (Any perceived threat to the ego puts them in survival mode.) A stronghold forms to suppress the pain. The stronghold is always rooted in pride and fear keeps it in place. These trees are rebellion against Me. This tree bears ungodly fruit in your soul like perfectionism, judgment, fear, pride ... (Rejection is bearing much fruit in these days to separate the tares from the wheat but repentance is possible through faith in Jesus' sacrifice. These two seeds are manifested through one's actions and words. {Mat.13:37} And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; {38} and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil [one]; {39} and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. {40} As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. {41} The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, {42} and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. {43} Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear. "Because I love you so dearly and because you struggled so much as a little girl to understand why 'this Father of love' would create imperfect, disabled little babies, I will show you why this happens. "This seed of rejection, for example, can affect your body in many ways; sometimes the sickness manifests in a later stage because of trauma and other times because of open doors in the mother and father. Because of generational curses, spirits latch onto the DNA and the baby can be born with a defect, a disease or disabled. It is part of the curse that came upon man at the fall. (However, a believing parent sanctifies the child through faith, as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 7, and can deliver the child from the curse of defect and disease.) Sarah, there are many things I want to teach you about the DNA. My people have a lack of knowledge! I also want to teach you about the DNA structure: It is an order. There are two orders: the one comes out of hell and the other out of Who I AM! Out of hell comes The Order of Baal and man plays the harlot with it, and I will call My order The Order of I AM! This is the structure in your DNA. "Inside The Order of Baal is the structure, the nature and the seed of lucifer. Curse is a result of it, most sicknesses are a result of it, spiritual death is a result of it, poverty is a result of it and destruction is a result of it. I have spoken to you a lot about the pure bride and about what it means to be the pure bride. The pure bride has My DNA, she has My structure, My order, My nature and My seed in her. Blessing is a result of it, life is a result of it, prosperity is a result of it, holiness and righteousness are a result of it. "My bride has I AM flowing through her veins, while the harlot bride, who has not cleansed her DNA, has hell operating through her … a mixed seed. My people are playing harlot because they have the order and the structure of Baal in them -that is why they are double-minded, that is why they are still sick. Even though by My stripes you were healed, they have remained still sinful, unholy and unrighteous, but they call themselves Christians. I tell you the word Christian is (misused and is) reserved for those who are lukewarm. You are either My bride, holy, pure and righteous, building your spirit house upon the Rock of Ages, living in My Kingdom, or you are a 'Christian,' lukewarm, so-called saved but deceived, so-called good but led astray without even knowing it. This 'Christian' is part of the harlot; she is in fact worse than the sinner because she is the same as the sinner in heart, but she thinks she is good. "My people, if you want to go into the ark like Noah, you have to cleanse your DNA through applying My blood through repentance, through petitioning in My heavenly courtroom. Remember, your spirit can be holy and righteous and you can think you are on the right road because of it. But if you do not take the next step through cleansing your DNA and working on your soul dimension, you are divided within yourself - in your spirit, on fire, and in your soul, cold, and therefore you are mixed, mixed and lukewarm. My bride is not mixed, she is single-minded and in unity with Me, one in soul and spirit. (She is one with the Word in her heart and obedience to it.) "I want My people to break down the altar, the order and the structure of Baal in your blood (DNA) that your forefathers have cast up. Like Gideon had to break down the altar of Baal. ("Come out of her My people".) {Jdg.6:25} ... Tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; {26} and build an altar, to the LORD your God on top of this rock laid in proper order [proper arrangement]. I was petitioning and repenting for my DNA and while I did that I saw a vision of inside of my body, I saw the many blood vessels, and Yeshua took me inside of my blood where He showed me how my DNA looks in the spirit. I saw the structure of the DNA and I saw two doors inside of my DNA (blood). There was a black door and a golden door. The golden door was closed and the black door was open. Out of the black door the DNA structure flowed; on the black door was written "Order of Baal/Curse" and on the golden door was written "I AM/Blessing" (which is filled with the FULLNESS of ABBA's character, attributes, nature, in the name of I AM is the fullness of who He is). There were things written on the black structure that flowed out of the black door. I recognized it as pride and rebellion against I AM (everything YHVH stands for), the nature of hasatan. So I started to pray for I AM's light to shine in my DNA and I just started to repent of generational sin as Ruach haKodesh revealed it to me. He went really deep and I carried on for hours. While I was busy repenting, I saw the structure going back into the black door, like it was being reversed. I literally saw Yeshua inside of my blood; He closed the black door and the door and the structure disappeared (shattered the order of Baal and curses). It is as if the black door was a gateway of hell. Yeshua said, "Each and every human has these two doors in their blood; hell operates through the black door through pride, rebellion and curses - it is his nature flowing out of it; while I AM and blessing flows through the way, the truth and the life. (Jesus comes through the spirit man and Satan and his minions through the inherited flesh and its lusts.) My people, you are in a DNA war. Awaken and see that the battle you are in is a blood battle; the enemy is out to defile your blood. Break down The Order of Baal inside of you through repentance and petitioning. Your DNA is who you are; it is the core of you. I want who you are to be a vein, a vessel for I AM, for I AM to flow through you and be an altar of worship, singing holy (set-apart), holy (set-apart), holy (set-apart), holy (set-apart)!" While He said that, the golden door flung open and a white structure flowed out, with golden and silver writings on it. I AM's character and nature was inside of it - humility, holiness(set-apartness), love, gentleness, etc. "Sarah, My love, this is the message for this hour. Teach My people how to sanctify their DNA because this is what My bride looks like". I see what flows out of that door is His seed [love and righteousness]. If it is the black door, it is hasatan's seed [pride and rebellion]. Father's seed births purity and holiness (set-apartness) and results in a set-apart virgin bride, whereas satan's seed births pride, harlotry, idolatry - it is mixed seed - and this makes you a harlot bride that can give birth to Nephilim babies. (Meaning dark spiritual giants, a mixture of flesh and demons; people who are big in the world because they are of the world, and they are small before God, like famous false Christians.) Yeshua showed me that the written things on our DNA become what our mind meditates upon. (We can meditate on flesh or spirit and bear the fruit thereof. {Isa.26:3} Thou wilt keep [him] in perfect peace, [whose] mind [is] stayed [on thee]; because he trusteth in thee. Rom 12:2 And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.) Your mind literally records whatever is inside the DNA. For example, when there is generational racism seed in your DNA, you have a judgmental, prideful, racist stronghold in your mind (of course you don't acknowledge it as that). Because you inherit the seed from your fathers, it hides in you and when trauma occurs it explodes like a bomb in your soul. It is the same with homosexuality; if there is a seed of rejection, to which a spirit latches, that attacks and breaks down your identity physically and because there is no love inside of that seed, it can very easily manifest in one becoming homosexual. The homosexual spirit is the stronghold that the structure of your soul puts up to defend itself, but it comes out of a seed of rejection, out of the pits of hell. (Many other spirits use the spirit of rejection as a doorkeeper to let them in: rebellion, anger, frustration, domineering, Jezebel, witchcraft, faction, drunkenness, drug addiction, self-seeking, etc.) We are in a spiritual battle that manifests in the natural and the war is already won, if we would just start to apply the Blood of the Lamb, we would start to taste victory and freedom. Our weapon is the BLOOD OF THE LAMB (which carries Yeshua's DNA) because it is the fullness of I AM's LOVE, poured out for our salvation, redemption, deliverance, healing, freedom... REPENT, so that you can be called righteous like Noah was righteous in all his generations! See also Deliverance from Rejection and Its Fear UBM site link: dna Restoration of the Body Tommy Hicks - 7/25/61 (David's notes in red) The following is an excerpt of a stunning vision given to American preacher Tommy Hicks, who was a major figure in the powerful 1954 Argentina Revival. VISION OF THE BODY OF CHRIST AND THE END-TIME MINISTRIES “…In the book of Acts we read, "In the last days", God said, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh". I wonder if we realized what he meant when God said, "I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh". I do not think I fully realized nor could I understand the fullness of it, and then I read from the book of Joel: "Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain -" (Joel 2:23). It is not only going to be the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, but he is going to give to his people in these last days a double portion of the power of God! As the vision appeared to me after I was asleep, I suddenly found myself in a great high distance. Where I was, I do not know. But I was looking down upon the earth. Suddenly the whole earth came into my view. Every nation, every kindred, every tongue came before my sight from the east and the west, the north and the south. I recognized every country and many cities that I had been in, and I was almost in fear and trembling as I beheld the great sight before me: and at that moment when the world came into view, it began to lightning and thunder. As the lightning flashed over the face of the earth, my eyes went downward and I was facing the north. Suddenly I beheld what looked like a great giant, and as I stared and looked at it, I was almost bewildered by the sight. It was so gigantic and so great. His feet seemed to reach to the North Pole and his head to the south. Its arms were stretched from sea to sea. I could not even begin to understand whether this was a mountain or a giant, but as I watched, I suddenly beheld a great giant. I could see his head was struggling for life. He wanted to live, but his body was covered with debris from head to foot, and at times this great giant would move his body and act as though it would even rise up at times. And when it did, thousands of little creatures seemed to run away. Hideous creatures would run away from this giant, and when he would become calm, they would come back. (These are the demons that are keeping God's people in bondage.) All of a sudden this great giant lifted his hand towards heaven, and then it lifted its other hand, and when it did these creatures by the thousands seemed to flee away from this giant and go into the darkness of the night. Slowly this great giant began to rise and as he did, his head and hands went into the clouds. As he rose to his feet he seemed to have cleansed himself from the debris and filth that was upon him, and he began to raise his hands into the heavens as though praising the Lord, and as he raised his hands, they went even unto the clouds. (Representing the great revival through Jesus in the Man-child reformers.) Suddenly, every cloud became silver, the most beautiful silver I have ever known. As I watched this phenomenon it was so great I could not even begin to understand what it all meant. I was so stirred as I watched it, and I cried unto the Lord and I said, "Oh Lord, what is the meaning of this". and I felt as if I was actually in the Spirit and I could feel the presence of the Lord even as I was asleep. And from those clouds suddenly there came great drops of liquid light raining down upon this mighty giant, and slowly, slowly, this giant began to melt, began to sink itself in the very earth itself, and as he melted, his whole form seemed to have melted upon the face of the earth, and this great rain began to come down. Liquid drops of light began to flood the very earth itself and as I watched this giant that seemed to melt, suddenly it became millions of people over the face of the earth. As I beheld the sight before me, people stood up all over the world! They were lifting their hands and they were praising the Lord. At that very moment there came a great thunder that seemed to roar from the heavens. I turned my eyes toward the heavens and suddenly I saw a figure in white, in glistening white - the most glorious thing that I have ever seen in my entire life. I did not see the face, but somehow I knew it was the Lord Jesus Christ, and he stretched forth his hand, and as he did, he would stretch it forth to one, and to another, and to another. And as he stretched forth his hand upon the nations and the people of the world - men and women - as he pointed toward them, this liquid light seemed to flow from his hands into them, and a mighty anointing of God came upon them, and those people began to go forth in the name of the Lord. I do not know how long I watched it. It seemed it went into days and weeks and months. And I beheld this Christ as he continued to stretch forth his hand; but there was a tragedy. There were many people as he stretched forth his hand that refused the anointing of God and the call of God. I saw men and women that I knew. People that I felt would certainly receive the call of God. But as he stretched forth his hand toward this one and toward that one, they simply bowed their head and began to back away. And each of those that seemed to bow down and back away, seemed to go into darkness. Blackness seemed to swallow them everywhere. (Their sin was more valuable to them than the anointing.) I was bewildered as I watched it, but these people that he had anointed, hundreds of thousands of people all over the world, in Africa, England, Russia, China, America, all over the world, the anointing of God was upon these people as they went forward in the name of the Lord. I saw these men and women as they went forth. They were ditch diggers, they were washer women, they were rich men, and they were poor men. I saw people who were bound with paralysis and sickness and blindness and deafness. As the Lord stretched forth to give them this anointing, they became well, they became healed, and they went forth! And this is the miracle of it - this is the glorious miracle of it - those people would stretch forth their hands exactly as the Lord did, and it seemed as if there was this same liquid fire in their hands. As they stretched forth their hands they said, "According to my word, be thou made whole". As these people continued in this mighty end-time ministry, I did not fully realize what it was, and I looked to the Lord and said, "What is the meaning of this?" And he said, "This is that which I will do in the last days. I will restore all that the cankerworm, the palmerworm, the caterpillar - I will restore all that they have destroyed. This, my people, in the end times will go forth. As a mighty army shall they sweep over the face of the earth”. (Representing the great restoration.) As I was at this great height, I could behold the whole world. I watched these people as they were going to and fro over the face of the earth. Suddenly there was a man in Africa and in a moment he was transported by the Spirit of God, and perhaps he was in Russia, or China or America or some other place, and vice versa. All over the world these people went, and they came through fire, and through pestilence, and through famine. Neither fire nor persecution, nothing seemed to stop them. Angry mobs came to them with swords and with guns. And like Jesus, they passed through the multitudes and they could not find them, but they went forth in the name of the Lord, and everywhere they stretched forth their hands, the sick were healed, the blind eyes were opened. There was not a long prayer, and after I had reviewed the vision many times in my mind, and I thought about it many times, I realized that I never saw a church, and I never saw or heard a denomination, but these people were going in the name of the Lord of Hosts. Hallelujah! As they marched forth in everything they did as the ministry of Christ in the end times, these people were ministering to the multitudes over the face of the earth. Tens of thousands, even millions seemed to come to the Lord Jesus Christ as these people stood forth and gave the message of the kingdom, of the coming kingdom, in this last hour. It was so glorious, but it seems as though there were those that rebelled, and they would become angry and they tried to attack those workers that were giving the message. (As it was with the Pharisees and Sadducees.) God is going to give the world a demonstration in this last hour as the world has never known. These men and women are of all walks of life, degrees will mean nothing. I saw these workers as they were going over the face of the earth. When one would stumble and fall, another would come and pick him up. There were no "big I's" and "little you's", but every mountain was brought low and every valley was exalted, and they seemed to have one thing in common - there was a divine love, a divine love that seemed to flow forth from these people as they worked together, and as they lived together. It was the most glorious sight that I have ever known. Jesus Christ was the theme of their life. They continued and it seemed the days went by as I stood and beheld this sight. I could only cry, and sometimes I laughed. It was so wonderful as these people went throughout the face of the whole earth, bringing forth in this last end time. As I watched from the very heaven itself, there were times when great deluges of this liquid light seemed to fall upon great congregations, and that congregation would lift up their hands and seemingly praise God for hours and even days as the Spirit of God came upon them. God said, "I will pour my Spirit upon all flesh", and that is exactly this thing. And to every man and every woman that received this power, and the anointing of God, the miracles of God, there was no ending to it…" UBM Angels Give Some Details of the Coming Great Revival Excerpt from Ministering Angels Through UBM #3 David asked, “What can you tell us about the supernatural methods to get the gospel out and heal, deliver and save?” The angel Baruch said, "The methods of man will not be employed to reach the peoples of the earth. (In the days that are coming.) The methods are all of the spirit realm and will be administered by the angels who are going to distribute the gifts to the saints. (Meaning, the sanctified ones) These include gifts of translation from place to place, language, healing, laying on of hands to impart to others their needs and what they're lacking and to replicate the gifts by passing them on to others whom the angels will point out. Supernatural downloads of wisdom and knowledge will be received for specific situations.” David asked, “What about deliverances?” Baruch said, “The enemy will be on the run during this time. Deliverances will be instantaneous with no resistance on their part. (Many deliverances are this way now if there is cooperation on the part of the victim in repentance and faith.) They will no longer be able to hide in flesh because of the light of revival and the fire of truth that will sweep the elect of the globe.” (Eve said, “Meaning: Demons will be fleeing left and right out of people as the true fire of the Holy Spirit fills each one and searches the depths of each individual. There won't be any place left for them to hide in the elect of God.") David asked, “Will there be mass healings and deliverances? Baruch said, “ Yes. These will all take place on the largest scale in human history.” (Eve said, "Meaning: Masses of people will supernaturally be delivered and healed all at once for times sake because the need is so great and the darkness so pervasive.") Then the angel Shemuel said, "A great move of God is coming upon the younger generations. (i.e. The millennials - Generation Z) There is a mildew and rottenness that has been cast upon this crop by satan; a perpetual darkness, so that the Son has not shown upon them. They languish and rot in the field and their fruit is poisoned. But the Son is coming to shine down upon them and he will burn up all the disease and mildew of their lives and the heat of His fire will burn through them and cleanse and restore them to the purpose they were created for. There has never been a revival like this that will sweep the whole earth. This will be entirely an act of God; supernatural and undeniable. He will not forsake the youth of this final generation.' Our Promised DNA Restoration Excerpt from Ministering Angels Through UBM #3 David asked, “What does the coming restoration involve personally? 30 years younger?” The angel Jeruel answered, “Restoration on a DNA cellular level. Faith and power will be imputed to receive healing and restoration. It will be complete restoration not partial. The first fruits are first. They will be the trail blazers. There will also be a mighty supernatural outpouring of spiritual restoration of closeness to God through His Holy Spirit.” Then David asked, “When will the Lord restore our teeth?” The angel Baruch said, “When the DNA restoration takes place, teeth will be restored as well.” Our Corporate Birthday Party Isaac Payne - 8/19/22 (David's notes in red) In this dream I was hosting a birthday party at my doublewide in Florida. (I think Florida is symbolic due to it being called the sunshine state. Also, I think the doublewide represents John 1:16 For of his fullness we all received, and grace for grace. Double grace hence doublewide.) The walls of the doublewide were sky blue and pretty much everything in the doublewide was blue. (Blue represents heavenly.) As the birthday party began, we welcomed many people inside. What was odd was that it wasn't anyone's birthday in particular, but actually seemed like a shared birthday party. (The corporate birthing of Jesus in the Man-child reformers and then the choosing of the Bride.) I looked around and saw Missy Pollock and her husband Merle at the birthday party sitting at the dining room table. They looked very happy and I remember thinking Merle is a really fit guy and in good shape and Missy too. (This is the timing of the DNA restoration.) I saw my Uncle Ronnie come to the party also. (Ronnie means ruler, advice, decision, bringer of victory.) (Representing the Father.) Also, David Eells (Representing the Man-child David's.) was there at the house for the birthday party as well. I continued to look around and also saw my cousins Josh and Jake. (Joshua means God is Deliverance and Jacob (Jacob represents Israel as a type of the Church.) (Ronnie, Josh, and Jake are my actual family members on my dads side in real life.) I think this points to spiritual Israel since Jacob was renamed Israel. Romans 9:6 But it is not as though the word of God has come to nought, for they are not all Israel, that are of Israel. But also he took the birthright from Esau. I believe we have been given the birthright from Christ as we are the 42nd generation and have overcome the old man represented by Esau. 2 Co. 1:20 For however many so ever be the promises of God, in him is the yea: wherefore also through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God through us. Then I woke up. (Also, I believe this is confirmation for the DNA regeneration that we were told we would receive.) (There wasn't one feeble one among them when they went out into the wilderness. Moses' eye was not dimmed nor his natural force abated.) The Great Restoration David Eells The Lord reveals that there will be a restoration of His people's lives in an outpouring of the Spirit after the Northern Army, as a type of the faction in the government and in the Church, is defeated at the spiritual Red Sea. This is primarily a restoration to the Bride, as a first-fruits, and later through the Bride to the Church. The Lord has showed us that this Northern Army attack symbolizes the ongoing D.S. attack on the U.S. using Pestilence, Sword, Famine, and Fire, which is listed in scriptures many times in Babylon's war against the apostate leadership, typed as Jerusalem, and God's apostate people... The Northern Army of Assyria tried to conquer righteous Jerusalem, the Bride. They had already conquered the apostate northern tribes, which faction and apostates have done, because these conquered ones are not the Bride, who escaped. Here also is mentioned the restoration of the years this enemy had plundered from God's people. Joel 2:20-27 but I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive it into a land barren and desolate, its forepart into the eastern sea, and its hinder part into the western sea; and its stench shall come up, and its ill savor shall come up, because it hath done great things. 21 Fear not, O land, be glad and rejoice; for Jehovah hath done great things. 22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field; for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth its fruit, the fig-tree and the vine do yield their strength. 23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in Jehovah your God; for he giveth you the former rain in just measure, and he causeth to come down for you the rain, the former rain and the latter rain, in the first month. 24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. 25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the canker-worm, and the caterpillar, and the palmer-worm, my great army which I sent among you. 26 And ye shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of Jehovah your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you; and my people shall never be put to shame. 27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Jehovah your God, and there is none else; and my people shall never be put to shame. I believe this restoration incorporates the power of the Spirit, health, youth, prosperity, doctrine, fruit, gifts, authority, and a general deliverance from all of the curse that Jesus paid for. Gal 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. This restoration will begin with the Bride who will spread this gospel to the true Church of the called out ones. Psa 103:1-5 A Psalm of David. Bless Jehovah, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless Jehovah, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy desire with good things, So that thy youth is renewed like the eagle. (Eagles, like all other birds, molt. They molt four times before reaching adulthood. Once they achieve their final "adult" plumage, it is likely that Bald Eagles molt their flight feathers just about every year. This represents new clothing which helps it overcome the gravity of the world.) Rom 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Job 33:25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child's; He returneth to the days of his youth. God's people coming out of Egypt at the time of the Red Sea received their youthful restoration. Psa 105:37 And he brought them forth with silver and gold; And there was not one feeble person among his tribes. Deu 34:7 And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. Neh 9:21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not. 2Co 5:17 Wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new. Abiding in the mind of Christ, the Lions head, will bring about this new creation man. Psa 132:13-18 For Jehovah hath chosen Zion (the Bride); He hath desired it for his habitation. 14 This is my resting-place for ever: Here will I dwell; for I have desired it. 15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16 Her priests also will I clothe with salvation; And her saints shall shout aloud for joy. 17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed. 18 His enemies will I clothe with shame; But upon himself shall his crown flourish. Psa 133:3 Like the dew of Hermon, That cometh down upon the mountains of Zion: For there Jehovah commanded the blessing, Even life for evermore. Act 3:19-21 Repent ye therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so there may come seasons of refreshing from the presence of the Lord; 20 and that he may send the Christ who hath been appointed for you, even Jesus: 21 whom the heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, whereof God spake by the mouth of his holy prophets that have been from of old. Jesus will first come manifested in the Man-child reformation ministry to restore all that was stolen from God's people just as He did in His first body except on a much larger scale. Hos 6:1-3 Come, and let us return unto Jehovah; for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2 After two days will he revive us: on the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live before him. 3 And let us know, let us follow on to know Jehovah: his going forth is sure as the morning; and he will come unto us as the rain, as the latter rain that watereth the earth. 1Pe 5:10 And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, establish, strengthen you. Psa 71:20-21 Thou, who hast showed us many and sore troubles, Wilt quicken (meaning: Make alive) us again, And wilt bring us up again from the depths of the earth. 21 Increase thou my greatness, And turn again and comfort me. Jer 30:1-3 The word that came to Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying, 2 Thus speaketh Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book. 3 For, lo, the days come, saith Jehovah, that I will turn again the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, saith Jehovah; and I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it. This speaks of the Church coming out of captivity to the beast kingdom to return to the Land of milk and honey; the land of our spiritual forefathers in the Gospels and Book of Acts. We are going to have our own Book of Acts but greater in scope and intensity. Isa 40:31 but they that wait for Jehovah shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint. What energy Father will put in His people to bring in the harvest. Jer 29:11-14 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith Jehovah, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end. 12 And ye shall call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14 And I will be found of you, saith Jehovah, and I will turn again your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith Jehovah; and I will bring you again unto the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive. Back to the Bride we started from. Joh 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full. Isa 60:10-22 And foreigners shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favor have I had mercy on thee. 11 Thy gates also shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the wealth of the nations, and their kings led captive. 12 For that nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted. 13 The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir-tree, the pine, and the box-tree together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious. 14 And the sons of them that afflicted thee shall come bending unto thee; and all they that despised thee shall bow themselves down at the soles of thy feet; and they shall call thee The city of Jehovah, The Zion of the Holy One of Israel. 15 Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man passed through thee, I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations. 16 Thou shalt also suck the milk of the nations, and shalt suck the breast of kings; and thou shalt know that I, Jehovah, am thy Saviour, and thy Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. 17 For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron. A great increase in value in life and posessions. I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness. 18 Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, desolation nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. 19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but Jehovah will be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. 20 Thy sun shall no more go down, neither shall thy moon withdraw itself; for Jehovah will be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. 21 Thy people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. 22 The little one shall become a thousand, and the small one a strong nation; I, Jehovah, will hasten it in its time. A great revival with multitudes coming into the Kingdom of God. Isa 61:1-11 The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is upon me; because Jehovah hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of Jehovah's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; 3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and foreigners shall be your plowmen and your vine-dressers. 6 But ye shall be named the priests of Jehovah; men shall call you the ministers of our God: ye shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves. 7 Instead of your shame ye shall have double; and instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be unto them. 8 For I, Jehovah, love justice, I hate robbery with iniquity; and I will give them their recompense in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. 9 And their seed shall be known among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which Jehovah hath blessed. 10 I will greatly rejoice in Jehovah, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with a garland, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. 11 For as the earth bringeth forth its bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord Jehovah will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Deu 30:1-10 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Jehovah thy God hath driven thee, 2 and shalt return unto Jehovah thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children,, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul; 3 that then Jehovah thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the peoples, whither Jehovah thy God hath scattered thee. 4 If any of thine outcasts be in the uttermost parts of heaven, from thence will Jehovah thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: 5 and Jehovah thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. 6 And Jehovah thy God will circumcise thy heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. 7 And Jehovah thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, that persecuted thee. 8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of Jehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. 9 And Jehovah thy God will make thee plenteous in all the work of thy hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, for good: for Jehovah will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers; 10 if thou shalt obey the voice of Jehovah thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if thou turn unto Jehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul. And great revival and restoration will come. Eze 37:1-10 The hand of Jehovah was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of Jehovah, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones. 2 And he caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord Jehovah, thou knowest. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy over these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of Jehovah. 5 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto these bones: Behold, I will cause breath (Spirit) to enter into you, and ye shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath (Spirit) in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am Jehovah. 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and, behold, an earthquake; and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I beheld, and, lo, there were sinews upon them, and flesh came up, and skin covered them above; but there was no breath in them. 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe (Spirit) upon these slain, that they may live. 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. Isa 2:1-3 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the latter days, that the mountain of Jehovah's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many peoples shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Jehovah from Jerusalem. Isa 49:13-23 Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for Jehovah hath comforted his people, and will have compassion upon his afflicted. 14 But Zion said, Jehovah hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me. 15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. 17 Thy children make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth from thee. The faction is separated from the Bride. 18 Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith Jehovah, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all as with an ornament, and gird thyself with them, like a bride. 19 For, as for thy waste and thy desolate places, and thy land that hath been destroyed, surely now shalt thou be too strait for the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away. 20 The children of thy bereavement shall yet say in thine ears, The place is too strait for me; give place to me that I may dwell. 21 Then shalt thou say in thy heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have been bereaved of my children, and am solitary, an exile, and wandering to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; t

Pastor continues the series Twice Called. This is the second sermon of ten for this series. The topic: Jacob, Jacob … A New Place. Our scriptures: Genesis 46:1-4 When God calls your name twice be sure your life is about to take a major shift. The shift is your destiny. The shift is your choice. Choose well.Blessings abound!
And a very good morning to you! It is Wednesday morning, and the date is the 13th of April, the year 2022. This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.“You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”John 15:16He chose us, we didn't choose Him. What an incredible privilege but of course, with it goes an incredible responsibility. Even as Jesus called the disciples, He is calling us this morning. If we look at Matthew 4:19, we will see that Jesus called the disciples. He said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”Does that mean that we need to give up our occupations? Not necessarily but we do need to bear fruit where God has put us. You say, “There was a time when I walked very close to the Lord but the pressures of this life have taken me far from God. Is there maybe any hope left for me? Yes, indeed. If Jesus could still call Peter after he denied the Lord three times then He can give us a second chance as well. All we need to do is say sorry, dust ourselves off and get straight back into the race.Right through the Bible, we see that men messed up regularly. They really did and God persisted with them because He had called them. He didn't give up on them and He won't give up on you or me today. What we have got to do is say sorry and get started again.Moses - Moses took the Israeli nation out of slavery. He took them through the wilderness for forty years and yet he was a murderer... Remember, he killed the Egyptian slavedriver. Jacob - Jacob was a liar, that's what he was, and yet the Lord changed his name to Israel. David - David was an adulterer and yet the Lord said, “He is the apple of My eye.” He repented - That is what they all did.He is calling you and me today. Let's respond... I would like to pray a little prayer with you today, if you would like to pray this prayer after me: Dear Lord Jesus,Please forgive me for going into the far country.Forgive me for not putting You first in my life.Lord, I can hear this morning, loud and clear, that you are calling me once again.I want to respond Lord and I want to get back in the race and I want to serve You with all of my heart. In Jesus's name.Have a wonderful day and Jesus bless you,Goodbye.
Like Abraham before him, Isaac sends Jacob to marry a woman from among his own people, who worships his God, instead of a local woman. Though Isaac had originally intended Abraham's blessing for Esau, he now seems to be reconciled to the fact that it belongs to Jacob—Jacob will carry on Abraham's and Isaac's blessings of land and offspring. Esau, meanwhile, tries to do something that will gain his parents' approval. Our focus is on salvation and giving you the truth about Jesus. Jesus paid for your sins in his death and resurrection. Through this we have everlasting life. We believe that if you truly accept Jesus in your life and live by the words in the Bible you will one day be greeted at the gates of heaven and live eternally with Him. It's been a while.... and with Covid halting everything, we have a solo podcast with Pastor Jacob! Listen as he chats about life and his love for Jesus!!!
In 1851 in Waterford city, Jacobs was set up, and some years later the business relocated to Bishop Street in Dublin.During the 1970s Jacobs merged with Boland's Biscuits to form Irish Biscuits Ltd., and the factory relocated to Tallaght on the Dublin outskirts. This podcast reveals the many challenges and successes of the company over the years. The voices of Jonathan Bewley and Michael Jenkins feature in the podcast, both of whom are descendants of the original owners.
Mark is absolutely delighted to welcome his great friend, Doron Spielman, to the podcast today. Since 2000, Doron has served as a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in the IDF’s Spokesperson’s Unit, and he continues to serve in this unit for frequent reserve duty. He is also one of the founders and leaders of the City of David, the ancient Jerusalem tourist and archaeological site, which Mark and his wife, Rabbi Erica, consider ‘the most important place in the world, perhaps’. The passage he has selected to discuss with Mark is Genesis 33. Their conversation begins with Doron explaining the reason he changed universities, his description of Ir David, the turning point in his life that brought him to the City of David, and Mark’s recommendation to watch Erick Stakelbeck’s series on the City of David. They then turn their attention to the passage itself, engaging in an extensive exploration of the significant moments within it, Jacob’s story leading up to it, his trickery, deception, and diplomacy, and the notion of truth in his family. The passage’s relevance to The Abraham Accords and the current challenge that Doron sees for the State of Israel is also explored, as are relationships between Jewish people and Gentiles, and the two meanings of the word ‘enough’ within the Bible. As with all episodes, today’s closes with the lessons our guest has learned about humankind. Genesis 33 abounds with lessons for society today, particularly with regards to the State of Israel. Episode Highlights: · Why Doron went from Michigan St to the University of Michigan · The turning point that brought him to the City of David · Ir David · Erick Stakelbeck’s ‘The City of David's Top 10 Finds Proving Israel's Claim to Jerusalem’ · The significance of the moment when Esau hugs Jacob · Jacob’s story up to this passage and his trickery · Jacob’s trickery · ‘Circling the mountain’ · Truth in Jacob’s family · Jacob’s deception/diplomacy lesson for current times · The Abraham Accords · The current challenge Doron sees for the State of Israel · Jewish and Gentile relationships · The two meanings of ‘enough’ · The lessons about humankind that Doron has learned Quotes: “The moment I went to the University of Michigan, my trajectory was really on course to move to Israel and it prepared me for a lot of what I would face.” “This was a sensible woman, educated at the University of Michigan, who no longer felt any justification whatsoever for the State of Israel and was leading what became the BDS movement.” “The City of David…is actually the biblical site of Jerusalem.” “The City of David has been recognized as the most important archeological site in the State of Israel.” “You realize the Bible’s unfolding in front of your eyes.” “He doesn’t get a sword, he gets a hug.” “I’ve made peace, but I am different…I will protect my generations.” “That’s no way to treat your brother!” “There is a very fine line between diplomacy and deception.” “Who are we going to be as a people now that our defenses are somewhat going down?” “The trickery that we see in Genesis is one of the reasons why we need a State of Israel.” “When there’s a Jewish state, we can be forthright, we can be direct, we can have incredible relationships with our gentile friends and allies, and grow together with them, not as one people, as two peoples.” “David and Bathsheba did what Isaac and Rebekah didn’t do.” “One story teaches the next and they all teach us.” “That magical sense - that is what the City of David produces in people.” “We are all important people in a story that is much larger than ourselves.” “There is a child inside every single person.” Genesis 33 - https://www.sefaria.org/Genesis.33.1-20?lang=en&with=all&lang2=en Links: The Rabbi’s Husband homepage: http://therabbishusband.com/ Mark’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/markgerson?lang=en

Isaiah 29:17–24 (ESV) 17 Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest? 18 In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. 19 The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel. 20 For the ruthless shall come to nothing and the scoffer cease, and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off, 21 who by a word make a man out to be an offender, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right. 22 Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob: “Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. 23 For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. 24 And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”
Check out our full show notes here: http://ysuperstars.com/ask-better-questions-of-god/Main Points -1. Don’t be afraid to argue with God:Be real with your feelings with God. We tend to treat God either as type of Santa Clause, where we are asking God for things. Or we feel like he needs to be praised all the time. Our prayers do not typically sound like conversations. They often sound strange and formal. Imagine talking to someone the way you talk to God. If it sounds funny or awkward you may have a prayer problem. Getting to a point with God where you can express your feelings of frustrations, pain, and disappointments is a great goal. Also, just being able to have regular conversations with God.Check out these psalms for examples of an author who is not afraid to get real with God:Psalm 88: abandoned by God and wondering why he is not keeping his promise to be with the author. The ending of the Psalm (v18) leaves you in distress even claiming that their friends are darkness.Psalm 89: basically calls God a liar for not keeping his promises to Israel. Psalm 73: questions the point in even believing about God. Also whoever wrote Ecclesiastes (Qohelet - Teacher) or Job have some serious questions for God. Things have not worked out for those authors the way you would expect from followers of God. Surely God will bless those who walk in his ways. But reality is seldom that simple, and truth often needs to be argued out. 2. Wrestle with God: It is not easy to follow God. And anyone who tells you otherwise is either extremely naive or a fool. Those are not the people who have a deep friendship with God. To do that you need to wrestle with God. That means arguing with him and reasoning with him over long periods of time. Really it means over the course of an entire lifetime.Chutzpa is a yiddish word (Hebrew/German) that means shameless audacity and impudence. While in the original Yiddish is has not positive connotation, in biblical studies this is something that the patriarchs seem to have in their relationships with God. Some have called this a holy chutzpah. This is something that the patriarchs (and matriarchs) were known for. Some scholars have even suggested that this was a key factor in why God choose this family out of all the families of the Earth to be his people. Some Examples: Abraham:Reasoned with God to try and save Sodom and Gomorrah from destruction (Genesis 18:16-33)Abraham pleads with God for Ismael to be blessed (Genesis 17:18) Issac:Issac of all the patriarchs has been seen as the most passive. Life seems to happen to Issac, instead of Issac acting. While Rebecca by contrast is alway seen as active and always portrayed in constant movement. She goes against the wishes of her husband (Issac) and tricks him into giving his blessing to Jacob instead of Esau. (Genesis 27)Jacob:Jacob, whose name means deliver, had his named changed by God to Israel. Israel literally means he struggles with God (Genesis 32)Moses:Argues with God about not wanting to go back to Egypt to lead out the people (Exodus 4) Moses is a great example and has many such encounters where it appears that Moses is using logicwith God, persuading God, arguing with him, an even appealing to his vanity (what will people think?). (see Exodus 32 ; 33)3. Don’t be afraid to be uncertain: Don’t feel like you need to know the right answers. Modern Christianity has become a place where a lot of knowledge is seems as synonymous with a lot of faith. Certainty is something that certainly chirsitians do not suffer with, for they have the holy words of God. The problem with seeing the Bible as a prooftext is that was never the intention of the Biblical texts. And in modern American Christianity this obsession with being right, or knowing the truth is causing us to miss the entire point of the story. The story from Genesis to Revelation is of God bringing the whole world back together, after we (humanity) chose to go our own way. God is restoring the heavens and the earth, and he is renewing humanity (the new humanity of Ephesians 2:15-16). WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ALL OF THE ANSWERS! This is important to remember and keep in front of you constantly. Especially since most traditions of Christianity have conditioned us to think we should have all the answers. Remember even Jesus did not know everything, and even he was not afraid to say when he did not know something (Matthew 24:36 ; Mark 13:32) I have to often remind myself that had Jesus ever thought about the world around him he most likely assumed that the earth was flat, that there was a dome above us that held the primeaval waters, and the land was supported by large columns and that the ocean was underneath the land. He also probably thought of the stars and planets as spiritual beings. Why is this most likely true? Because Jesus was a first century Jew. And being fully human he most likely believed what a first century Jew thought about the world. Yes Jesus knew nothing of solar systems, planets, stars, galaxies, black holes, neutron stars, pulsars, and quasars. In fact Jesus like everyone else up until relatively recently knew nothing of Neptune, Uranus, Pluto, or everything else in the solar system that we still have yet to discover. The point here is Jesus was not afraid to be uncertain, and neither should we. Action Steps -Step One - Silence and SolitudeAs part of a daily practice seek out silence and solitude at least once a day. This is commonly referred to as Meditation today. This can be a daunting task for many to sit in silence and solitude. We are recommending using something called headspace (app for your phone), for at least ten days to help start you on your daily meditation practice. Headspace usually gives you ten days for free and you can learn more about them and sign up here; https://www.headspace.com/subscriptionsStep Two - Walk with GodGo on daily walks with just you and God. This is another thing to add to your daily practice. Many people will think of this as a prayer walk. And in a sense this is. However, most Christians prayer life is in such a state that it is completely opposite to what talking with God should be. As Christians we should strive to have relationships with God like Moses and Jesus. We should talk to God like we would talk to an actual person. This means learning how to have conversations with God, not just telling him what we want or praising him for the sake of praising. We need to learn how to walk and talk with God. Leave the podcast, audiobook, or music out of your ear and go for a walk with God. There may be moments of silence... that’s okay! You may feel alone in your thoughts... that’s okay too! Simply walk in a park or around your neighborhood, or even around your workplace. The important thing is that you are alone with God (even if there are other around) and invite him into your life. Step Three - Go on a Trip With GodAt least once a season go on a day trip or overnight trip with God. This is something that should be planned in advance and should be somewhere in nature. The wilderness is a place that really belongs to no one. It is the uncultivated parts of the Earth that are still wild. It is the place that Jesus, the prophets, and the holy people of old went out to meet with God. This is where we must go too, so that we can meet with God on a semi regular basis. Leave everyone else behind. Try and keep your headphones out of your ears for the majority of the time (though God and I have had some great conversations about a podcast or audiobook that I was reading), and spend a longer period of time with God by yourself. These three practices alone will transform your life, and will enable you to ask better questions of God by spending time with him. Books That Were Mentioned - Walking the Bible: A Journey by Land Through the Five Books of Moses by Bruce FellerThis is a great book and an easy read. There is a documentary too that was made after the book was published that sort of follows Bruce’s adventures in many of the locations mentioned in the Bible. It is a great read for Christians because Bruce is initially on a quest to determine the historicity of the Bible (i.e. did all of these things actually happen). What Bruce finds instead is a sense of the otherworldly that transcends whether or not everything happened in the Bible exactly the way it was said to happen. Though in memoir form this book is one of the best introductions to the backdrop of the Bible that I have ever read. https://amzn.to/2ZDvsup

When the financial crisis rocked the business world in 2007-09, boardrooms turned to corporate finance chiefs. A good cfo could save a company; a bad one might bury it. The covid-19 pandemic presents a different challenge—and highlights the role of another corporate function, often unfairly dismissed as soft. Never have more firms needed a hard-headed hr boss. Isaiah 29:13-24And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”?Is it not yet a very little while until Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be regarded as a forest? In that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book, and out of their gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind shall see. The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord, and the poor among mankind shall exult in the Holy One of Israel. For the ruthless shall come to nothing and the scoffer cease, and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off, who by a word make a man out to be an offender, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and with an empty plea turn aside him who is in the right. Therefore thus says the Lord, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob:“Jacob shall no more be ashamed, no more shall his face grow pale. For when he sees his children, the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. And those who go astray in spirit will come to understanding, and those who murmur will accept instruction.”Support the show (http://www.redeemermurfreesboro.org/give)

In the Gospel reading today we hear that a “great light” has shone in the darkness in the land of Nebulun and Naphtali. Nebulun and Naphtali were two of the twelve sons of Jacob (Jacob is also known as Israel). It was out of the twelve sons that the history of the Jewish people begins to unfold. The twelve sons are also known as the twelve tribes of Israel.

EP086- Addiction doesn't care who you are. It doesn't care if you are educated and ambitious, from a 'good' family, or from the 'worst' family. Addiction takes whoever it wants, whenever it wants. We all know the feeling of wearing the mask, creating the facade of having it all together and making sure everyone believes the facade. And on the inside we are falling apart, losing our minds and our self-respect. You finally reach a place of being so confused and angry, wondering how you ended up in this place, with no idea how to get out. Jacob Evans is another victim of the opioid crisis and his story is normal in many ways, and surprising in others. He understands the importance of the core principles of recovery in that we have to be of service to others, we have to be connected to other addicted people, and we have to be committed to rebuilding the life we tore down. Here's a short bio about Jacob: Jacob studied law at WVU College of Law, receiving honors such as Student Body Vice President, Student Governor, Academic Advisor, serving as Chairman of the Board of Governors, Outstanding delegate three times over for the National Model United Nations conferences, just to name a few. He graduated with honors from WVU with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy for his undergrad. During Jacob’s second year in law school he decided he needed to revamp his life and give up all substances and life practices that were not serving him. This journey was a tenuous one, but now he has found his passion for helping others prepare for everything. Jacob uses his intimate knowledge of substance abuse, personal development strategies, life skills, and unique interventions to assist others in any facet of life they wish to improve upon. Jacob has helped individuals and their families combat addictions and other life struggles for 4 years. Jacob provides the guiding hand and structural framework that will result in anyone taking hold of their lives and becoming their truest selves. Schedule a FREE consult with Angela here! Speaker or Performer: Pr. Mark D. Lovett Scripture Passage(s): Matthew 15:21-28 Date of Delivery: March 1, 2015 In the name of the FATHER and of the +SON and of the HOLY SPIRIT.Last week our Lord taught us that through fasting and clinging to the promises of our heavenly Father we overcome temptation and are rewarded by the comfort of angelic messengers who comfort us and remind us that we are the children of God with all the glory and blessedness that such children should have.So this week our Lord teaches us by the faith of the Canaanite woman that through perseverance in prayer we will obtain that for which we ask even as He says elsewhere, “Whatever you ask the Father in my name you will receive.” So we have the truth from our Lord Himself that our prayers will not go unanswered and that what we ask for we shall receive as dear children asking their dear Father in heaven. But like last week’s trouble, that we often must fast for a long time before we are comforted by ministering angels, so this week we learn that when we pray it may be some time before we are answered. Not only that, but there may also be massive obstacles before us when we pray. Certainly this Canaanite woman had massive obstacles. First the Lord acted as though He did not hear her petition. Then He points out to her and to His disciples that He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. She being a Gentile would have felt the sting, even rejection of His words. Then, directly to her, Jesus calls her a dog and not a child; a dog to whom it is not right to give the children’s bread. Now let’s be honest. If we were praying and received such behavior from our Lord we would quickly give up and think that He does not love us and that He has no intention of hearing our prayers or answering them. Many people think this way. Many of us pray for only a short time yet because we do not hear our Lord say “Yes” right away, or if we face obstacles while we pray we give up and think that God must not love us or that prayer isn’t as useful as we thought. Few of us persevere in our prayers. Few of us have the faith of this woman. She did not doubt that the Lord could, even would answer her prayer. But because we have prayed in the past and received no obvious answer we think that prayer sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, as if it is a magical incantation or something. But the power of prayer is faith; faith that the Lord is faithful to His people in all His promises. Prayer, like fasting, is done by looking to and clinging to the promises of God in Christ. Yet so many try to use prayer as a sort of spiritual lottery. Sometimes you win, mostly you don’t. But unlike the lottery folks that don’t win at prayer give up on prayer. They give up on prayer, on God, on Christ, on church; they give up on the saints of God. We all know such people. They are bitter towards God and resent Him because He did not give them what they asked for when they asked. The feel as though God has said “No.”But the Scriptures are full of people who prayed and prayed and yet the answer was always “no”. Remember Joseph and his father Jacob? Jacob cried out and prayed for his son that he would be returned to him, but Joseph wasn’t for a long, long time. God kept saying “no” until He said “yes”. Joseph, too, a righteous man by all accounts and yet he was sold into slavery by his brothers, falsely accused by his master’s wife, thrown into prison and forgotten about. Surely he wondered why the Lord was not answering his prayers for release and to be returned to his people. But all God kept saying was “no”; until He said “yes”.And that’s the way it was for this Canaanite woman. The Lord kept saying “no” until He said “yes”.What these heroes of faith have in common is their perseverance in the promises of God. Their perseverance is based on the promises of God. To Joseph the Lord had promised that his family would bow down to him. This meant that his father Jacob would see him again and that he would be returned to his family, released from prison and servitude. And so he was. And the Canaanite woman had the promise that the Messiah would free not only the children of Abraham from bondage but that He would also hear the prayers of the Gentiles as it is written in the prophet Isaiah, “In Him will the Gentiles hope.”So they prayed based on the promises of God. You too, have the promises of God. Not only the promise of forgiveness and life but also of daily bread, which includes everything pertaining to this life. You have the promise of being the dear children of God with whom He is well pleased and in whom dwells His Holy Spirit. So you pray based on these promises of your heavenly Father. His answer may well be “no”. Perhaps for many, many years even. But eventually it will be “yes”. It always is. Right now you might be like the Canaanite woman when Jesus seemed to be ignoring her, or like Joseph was when he was sitting in prison. Your prayers right now may seem to be going unanswered, even ignored by your heavenly Father. Keep praying. Keep asking. Remind God of His many promises. Don’t let the doubt of others, like the disciples who wanted to send the woman away, or of Joseph’s father and brothers who laughed at him when he told them his dreams, don’t let their doubt sway your prayers. Now someone will want me to say something about praying for the right thing or asking the right way or for the right reasons. Here, too, the Canaanite woman can teach us. First, she found where the Lord was going to be and she went there. That is what you have done today. For the Lord Jesus has promised to be here for you and here He shows you the Father who lavishes on you all His promises, especially the chief promise of the Holy Spirit. Here God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – gathers His people to speak with you, bless you, and to hear you. Our prayers here are not just formal prayers to fill time or sound pious. They are the voice of God’s people crying out to the living God for all that they need and want. It would be a good practice for you to write down what you are praying for daily and bring it here to pray for it while we pray together the prayers of the Church. Because here more than anywhere else, here at the Lord’s gathering, you have the divine promise that God loves you and wants you to be His child and want you to ask Him as dear children ask their dear father. So the Canannite woman did. She found Jesus and there asked Him and did not let up until He answered her. That is faith. And you have it better than she. For you are already a child of God and you have the Spirit of God with you and in you so that what you receive here you take with you into the world. Your prayers find their home here, but they are no less heard in your homes or in your lives because you came from here, from the presence of God, and you pray to return and to remain in His presence. So pray for spiritual wellbeing, for daily bread, for deliverance from what attacks you or your family or this congregation. Pray for a better car or a visit from an estranged relative. Pray for healing. Pray for peace in your home or your children’s home. Pray for the return of a brother or sister in Christ who has lost their way. Pray for peace in the Church. Pray for peace in the country. Pray for world peace. Pray, pray, pray and do not give up praying. Don’t give up because God’s promises are irrevocable and in Christ all His promises find their “yes”. And you will eventually hear God’s “yes” to your prayers. For all prayers that are born of faith are prayers for the end, prayers for the reign of Christ. Now what if someone prays for one thing and someone else is praying for the opposite? Let God be God: you pray. He knows how and when to answer. He knows how to keep His promises much better than we do. He doesn’t count slowness like we do and He is not forgetful of what Hehas said. So pray! For there is nothing so powerful as prayer and nothing so glorious as prayer. Prayer has the promise of being heard by God almighty. Only don’t forget the lesson of the Canaanite woman: perseverance of prayer based on the promises of God is great faith. If you pray for an hour or even a day or two, but then do not think God will ever answer then you are as St. James says, a double minded man unstable in all your ways and your prayers will not be answered. But for the one who looks to the promises of God in Christ – which are vast and encompass far more than just forgiveness, but also life and all things that pertain to it – then you will always have the strength to pray and you will pray fervently and without ceasing and you will hear the words of our Lord, “Great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you believe.”+ In Nomine Iesu +
