Unsere Morgenmänner Thomas Apfel und Torsten Hanft blicken immer am Freitag auf ihre Woche zurück. Themen die nicht nur die beiden sondern die Welt und das RadioEINS-Land bewegt haben. Dabei blicken sie natürlich auf alles um sich rum, also in die Landkreis Coburg, Kronach und Lichtenfels. 14 Jahre nach unserem ersten Interview ist Mark Forster wieder zu Gast bei Music Made in Germany – und diesmal wird's persönlich. Wir sprechen über die Entwicklung vom damaligen Newcomer bis heute, über Emotionen, Veränderungen und warum er sich seine eigenen Interviews im Nachhinein nicht mehr anschaut. Mark erzählt, warum er aktuell kein Album fühlt, sondern lieber einzelne Songs veröffentlicht – und warum ihm dabei eines besonders wichtig ist: sich bei allem, was er macht, wirklich Mühe zu geben. Außerdem geht es um seine Erfahrungen bei „Sing meinen Song“ – warum er heute nur noch dabei ist, weil es ihm wirklich Spaß macht, wie emotional es dort werden kann und ob man eigentlich ein Pokerface behalten kann, wenn einem eine Performance mal nicht gefällt. Dazu gibt er Einblicke in persönliche Themen wie Traditionen an Weihnachten und Ostern, spricht offen darüber, dass er selbst von sich sagt, einen „Mangel“ zu haben – und verrät, welche Musik eigentlich bei ihm zu Hause läuft. Mark Forster über Radio, für ihn immer noch ein tolles Medium, warum er bei jungen Leuten so bekannt ist, Tiefe auch bei TikTok zu finden ist und Hoffnung für seine Musik essentiell ist.

Zwei Finger immer auf den Tasten und im richtigen Moment auf „Record“ drücken! So haben wir in unserer Jugend neue Musik „gespeichert“. Im Sonntagstalk mit Bärbel Schäfer erinnert sich Mark Forster an seine Zeit vor Streamingdiensten. Er selbst versorgt eine Gruppe an Ersthörern über WhatsApp mit seinen neuen Songs - und wartet dann gespannt auf Feedback. Und obwohl er ein Vollprofi ist und sich intensiv damit beschäftigt, wie die Musikwelt funktioniert, ist ihm bei der neuen Single „Ein Lied“ ein echter Fail passiert.

Obwohl ich Mark Forster nicht besonders mag, kann ich nicht leugnen, dass er sich mit seinen eingängigen Melodien und Ohrwürmern wie „Kogong“ immer wieder in meinem Kopf festsetzt. Man hört seine Songs im Radio, und plötzlich sing ich, „Kogong, Kogong“ vor mich hin, ohne es wirklich zu wollen. Es ist, als ob sein Rhythmus und seine Texte einen ungewollten Platz in meinem Kopf eingenommen haben. In diesem Moment fühle ich mich wie Oli, der beschreibt, wie es ihm mit diesen Gedanken geht – gefangen zwischen dem, was ich will und dem, was mich unweigerlich erreicht.„Du brauchst deinen Frieden“ – ist eine Aussage dieses Songs, mich bringt das dazu, über die Voraussetzungen für inneren Frieden nachzudenken. Was ist nötig, um diesen Frieden zu finden? Ist es die Akzeptanz der eigenen Gefühle, das Loslassen von Erwartungen oder vielleicht die Suche nach einem tieferen Verständnis für sich selbst und die Welt um einen herum? In einer Zeit, in der so viele äußere Einflüsse auf uns einprasseln, wird die Frage nach dem, was Frieden für mich bedeutet, immer drängender. Was für eine Reise - und was für ein Comeback im BB RADIO Mitternachtstalk Podcast! Ich freue mich riesig, dass er wieder da ist: Tim Kamrad, oder wie ihn inzwischen ganz Europa kennt: KAMRAD! Für alle, die ihn noch nicht kennen - was eigentlich kaum möglich ist - hier ein kleiner Recap: Tim kommt aus Velbert im Kreis Mettmann, mitten aus NRW, wo er heute auch noch lebt. Mit fünf Jahren hat alles angefangen - die Gitarre in der Hand, der Schulchor als erste Bühne. Er war ein Überflieger in der Schule - Abi mit 0,8. Dann: Studium zum Wirtschaftsingenieur?! Kurz ausprobiert, schnell gemerkt: Das Herz schlägt für Musik! Also: Studium abgebrochen - und alles auf eine Karte gesetzt. Seine Karriere als Musiker begann bei einem legendär miesen Auftritt: einem Street-Food-Festival, bei strömendem Regen, ohne Zuschauer. Aber: Wer da nicht aufgibt, hat es offensichtlich wirklich drauf! 2016 kam die erste Single „Changes“, dann Support-Touren mit Lions Head und ABC, später mit Sunrise Avenue, Adel Tawil und Nico Santos - da war der Durchbruch nicht mehr weit. 2022 dann der große Knall: „I Believe“ wurde der meistgespielte Song im deutschen Radio. Aber das alles wäre vielleicht nie passiert, wenn nicht auch seine Eltern alles für seine Musikkarriere getan hätten. Sie nahmen extra einen Kredit auf, um seinem Traum eine Chance zu geben. Den Kredit hat er natürlich längst zurückgezahlt. Heute sprechen die Zahlen für sich: Über 300 Millionen Streams, Gold- und Platin-Awards in vielen Ländern, Airplay-Top-10-Platzierungen in halb Europa - von Polen bis Ungarn. Mit Songs wie „Feel Alive“ oder seiner brandneuen Single „Be Mine“ liefert Kamrad Pop mit Gefühl, Energie und Ohrwurm-Faktor. Sein aktueller Track „Be Mine“ ist nicht nur der perfekte Sommerhit, sondern auch der Startschuss für neue Musik, neue EP- oder Album-Releases und neue Touren! The mission of Monsters Aliens Robots Zombies (MARZ) is to deliver feature-film quality visual effects on television timelines by harnessing GPU clusters, game engine technology, AI and senior industry talent. Leveraging these pillars allows us to consistently execute with both speed and quality for our premium television projects. Lon Molnar is the Co-President of MARZ. With more than 20 years of experience, Lon has contributed a vast amount of visual effects to film and television as an Artist, VFX Supervisor, and former CEO of the award winning VFX company Intelligent Creatures. Inspired by the magic of TOY STORY, Lon attended the Vancouver Film School with the single goal of opening up his own VFX studio. As he built his resume, he became dissatisfied with working on VFX for tv, and set his sights on feature films. He became a VFX generalist, working in animation, lighting, compositing and modelling, while using a vast array of software.  After serving as the CG Supervisor on the groundbreaking films CHICAGO and THE CELL, he fulfilled his earlier dream and opened up Intelligent Creatures in 2002. Working with talented creators like Mark Forster, Darren Aronofsky, Alejandro González Iñárritu, David Tattersall, Oliver Stone and others, Lon quickly built the Toronto-based VFX house into an award-winning studio. Intelligent Creatures lent its creativity to dozens of projects such as MR AND MRS SMITH, THE WITCH, and BABEL. They built robust pipelines to tackle critically-acclaimed projects, such as the WATCHMEN's famous Rorschach mask of moving inkblots. Some of their later work, such as the award-winning series ORPHAN BLACK and the Emmy-nominated CURIOSITY: BATTLEFIELD CELL pushed the boundaries of visual effects on TV. Fifteen years after the formation of Intelligent Creatures, Lon recognized that unlike when he had started in the industry, TV was no longer the "lesser" medium for VFX. When he spoke to Jonathan Bronfman, the two found themselves sharing symbiotic ideas. They saw a gap that others didn't. What if, they asked, we can build a company that focuses on serving only one market, and defines the standard of excellence in that market? That was the beginning of MARZ. When Mark Forster, Jr. was six or seven years old, he picked up a camera for the first time and instantly was obsessed with making videos. This is: Rational Breaks: a better way to work, published by bfinn on January 7, 2022 on LessWrong. HOW can you use your work time better? Many people waste their days only half-working, and not accomplishing much. It's more productive to alternate between bouts of highly focused work, and breaks to recover. Various time management techniques propose working like this for fixed time periods, e.g. 25 minutes, followed by a set break. But I think they're mistaken. Fixed time periods are unnatural and mechanical; thoughtful, creative work doesn't watch clocks. And you can't work with other people this way either, as their meetings, calls and interruptions won't fit in with your timeslots. Here's a different approach: let's ignore how long you work, and consider breaks instead. Your day consists of both; they're two sides of the same coin. So instead of working in fixed periods, why not just limit your break time? This guarantees how long you'll work for – the rest of the day – while leaving you complete freedom in how to divide it up. This is the idea behind my new technique, provisionally called Rational Breaks. You work for as long or as short as you like, until you want a break. Then break for up to one-third of the time you've just worked. So after 15 minutes' work, you can stop for up to 5 minutes. If you work for an hour, you've earned a good 20-minute break. And if a task bores you after 3 minutes, you can even take a break then – but only for 1 minute! Breaks reward you for working, but long breaks have to be earned. This kind of pattern is natural; research confirms that people tend to take longer breaks after working for longer. Don't take five, take one-third! Rational Breaks have many benefits (which I'll go into), but the key one is flexibility. They adapt to your attention span, energy, and schedule, as well as to other people. You can use ratios other than one-third, if you like. (Ratio, Rational, see?) And Rational Breaks aren't just for your day-job – they suit anything that needs focus or effort, such as studying, practicing an instrument, personal admin, writing, or fitness training. But before going into depth, let's look at other time management systems. (If you don't use these, you can skip to the following section, Rational Breaks.) Clock-work The best-known system is Pomodoro, named after a tomato-shaped timer. It advocates working in 25-minute stints, ending with an alarm and a 5-minute break, or occasionally 20–30 minutes. (Which is also how long it takes to read Pomodoro's trademark guidelines.) In fact, there's nothing new about working for fixed periods until an alarm goes off. For centuries, schools have taught lessons this way, ending with a bell.[1] At work, fixed periods simplify scheduling; create short-term deadlines to focus your mind; and provide regular breaks, to maintain your energy, attention, decision-making, performance and well-being. But working against the clock like this – let's call it ‘clock-work' – has problems. How long should each stint last? There's no consensus between experts, research and systems at all: Productivity author Mark Forster recommends starting with 5-minute bursts, and progressively extending them to 40 minutes. Medical professor Dr James Levine suggests 15 minutes' work at a time. Pomodoro, as mentioned, advocates 25 minutes. 30- and 60-minute stints worked equally well for computer operators in one study. School classes typically last 30-90 minutes, and it's unclear what length is best. Time-tracking software DeskTime found their most productive users average 52 minutes' work, plus a 17-minute break. The best music students practised for about 80 minutes at a time in a well-known study. The Ultradian system advocates working for 90 minutes, and it's based on biological cycles lasting up to two hours. This hug...
