We're finally caught up on Hallmark Christmas movies, so it's time to head back to UPtv with Ryan. Today, we're reviewing Christmas in Amish Country.ABOUT CHRISTMAS IN AMISH COUNTRYA faltering chef returns to her Amish roots in Pennsylvania, finds solace in slow-cooking, and rekindles a friendship with a sweet farmer from her past.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR CHRISTMAS IN AMISH COUNTRYNovember 30 2025 | UPtvCAST & CREW OF CHRISTMAS IN AMISH COUNTRYElla Cannon as ClaireJason Tobias as JackBRAN'S CHRISTMAS IN AMISH COUNTRY SYNOPSISIt's December 20th and we're at a fancy new restaurant. Chef Claire is making very fancy food — we're talking liquid nitrogen levels of fancy. But it's too fancy. The reviews are awful, and her manager encourages her to sell ASAP. There's no saving this sucker. Reporters love a downfall story, so they're outside her apartment. She mistakes one of the reporters for her rideshare driver. With her flight canceled, she asks him to drive her to Missouri — a 7-hour trip. Looking for the scoop, he says yes and doesn't tell her who he really is. His name is Jack, and they actually kind of hit it off. She even moves to the passenger seat. They arrive in Versailles, Missouri. Jack is stunned to find out it's an Amish town! Her mom? Amish. Her sister-in-law? Amish. The queen of modern molecular gastronomy… is Amish!Jack even saves her mom from an oncoming truck. Hero moment unlocked. This whole time, she thought his name was Chad — her “driver.” He corrects her: he's Jack, and he finally comes clean. Claire is not thrilled, but since he saved her mom's life, he gets to stay with the family. Her family doesn't know what kind of food she really cooks… or about the bad reviews. Jack agrees to keep that quiet.Since he didn't plan on this trip, he has no spare clothes. So naturally, he ends up rocking Amish garb.Jack volunteers to help a guy named Eli, who absolutely hates him. Who does Eli not hate? Claire. He's very into her. When Jack tastes her family's apple butter and pie crust, he's like, “Why aren't you serving this?!” She insists the outside world doesn't want this kind of food. She opens up about her journey, and Jack seems genuinely interested — though that might just be because he's churning butter and can't escape. His back starts hurting, so she gives him an old Amish back rub, and the sparks definitely fly.Jack keeps helping around the farm and loving all the food. He tells her that incorporating her family's cooking could really bring her restaurant to life. Sparks continue… until she finds his initial story draft, which basically calls her a fraud. The family tells him to get lost first thing in the morning. Here's something important about Claire: she's terrified of riding in a horse and buggy because of a past accident. So she's walking to Christmas dinner when she finds her pregnant friend on the path — her water has broken. Claire has to conquer her fear, take the buggy, and get her to the hospital. On Jack's way out of town, he sees Claire walking into the hospital. He offers to help, and she tells him to go pick up the woman's husband — which he does. When he gets back, he tells her he was never going to turn in that hurtful article. He has a new story ready and wants her to read it before he submits it.He brings her back to the farm and gives the whole family a copy of the new article. They all forgive him, and he and Claire kiss. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? Lindsay was raised in an offshoot of the Way International, then handed over at 12 to cult leader Victor Barnard as one of his “maidens.” For 10 years, she endured grooming, sexual abuse, and spiritual torment — all justified by a twisted interpretation of scripture. It's been exactly one year since UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered in Manhattan. And 27-year-old Luigi Mangione is back in a New York courtroom today, as attention turns to his interactions with the police officers who arrested him at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, five days into the manhunt. The FBI has arrested a man in connection with two pipe bombs that were planted outside the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee headquarters the night before the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in 2021. Military officials showed lawmakers video of a second strike on an alleged Venezuelan drug boat behind closed doors on Capitol Hill on Thursday, and testified that there was no order from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to kill everyone on board, multiple lawmakers said. All Bones Considered: Laurel Hill Stories #041, part 4 Benjamin Wood Richards' tenure as mayor coincided with challenges such as public health crises, infrastructure needs, and social tensions in Philadelphia. In 1819, Richards co-founded a large commission house in Philadelphia, a business acting as an intermediary for securities and commodities transactions, earning income through commissions. He served in the Pennsylvania legislature in 1827, advocated for public schools, was a canal commissioner, and was appointed by President Andrew Jackson to direct the U.S. Bank and Mint. Appointed mayor in 1829 and elected in 1830-31, wealthy merchant Stephen Girard died during his term. Richards helped found the Girard Trust Company in 1835, serving as its president until his death, with the bank later becoming Girard Bank. When Richards toured Europe, he was inspired by Paris's Père Lachaise Cemetery, and helped found Philadelphia's Laurel Hill Cemetery, where he was a major stakeholder.

No matter where you sit within the economy, whether you're a CEO or an entry level worker, everyone's feeling uneasy about AI and the future of work. Uncertainty about career paths, job security, and life planning makes thinking about the future anxiety inducing. In this episode, Daniel Barcay sits down with two experts on AI and work to examine what's actually happening in today's labor market and what's likely coming in the near-term. We explore the crucial question: Can we create conditions for AI to enrich work and careers, or are we headed toward widespread economic instability? Ethan Mollick is a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he studies innovation, entrepreneurship, and the future of work. He's the author of Co-Intelligence: Living and Working with AI.Molly Kinder is a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, where she researches the intersection of AI, work, and economic opportunity. Why does happiness always feel one step away? In this episode, we welcome back positive psychology expert Jodi Wellman to explore why so many of us keep “moving the goalposts” on our own success, and learn why accomplishments that once thrilled us eventually feel ordinary. Jodi breaks down why we convince ourselves that one more thing — a new job, a relationship, a move, a big purchase — will finally deliver lasting happiness. Using Gabe's own podcasting journey as a case study, the conversation exposes a mental trap familiar to anyone who's ever felt like their wins “don't count” for long. But this episode isn't just about naming the problem — it's about fixing it. Jodi offers practical, research-backed strategies to help you savor your accomplishments, find a healthier balance between ambition and contentment, and stop letting your inner critic erase your progress. Listener takeaways why humans believe they're always “one thing away” from feeling fulfilled what the hedonic treadmill is and how it sabotages our happiness how to balance ambition with genuine joy so you can grow without feeling miserable If you've ever wondered, “Why don't I feel successful?” this is the episode that can finally help you understand. “We like to dupe ourselves. It's just one of the features of our psychology. It all comes down to this idea called the hedonic treadmill. We think, and we go for it. We'll buy the pill, we'll make the move, we'll take the job, we'll buy the car, we'll do a thing. And usually it's external stuff, but sometimes it's internal, like, I will become the person that I've been meant to be and that will make me happy. But then, because we adapt so well, this is this hedonic adaptation, hedonic treadmill, we adapt so reliably, damn it. And we end up, over time, some of us shorter than others. Naturally, meh. A growing legal fight in Pennsylvania now centers on something called a barnacle: a windshield-blocking device that drivers say is being used to trap them for fast cash. Post-Gazette Pitt insiders Stephen Thompson and Abby Schnable break down Pat Narduzzi's newest recruiting class now that national signing day has passed. What are their takeaways from the class as a whole? What can we expect from the two Texas-born quarterbacks, Angelo Renda and Corey Dailey? Outside of those two, why did the class so heavily feature Pennsylvania and Florida players? Which players could make an impact right away in 2026? And how do this year's freshman, like QB Mason Heintschel, RB Ja'Kyrian Turner and DB Shawn Lee Jr. show that recruiting is still vital for Pitt, even in the age of the transfer portal? Our duo answers those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Gregg Moore is a ceramic artist who is best known for his work with Dan Barber at the restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns. The Glenside, Pennsylvania based artist is a professor of ceramic art at Arcadia University and also co-owns the ceramic studio Heirloom alongside his wife Jackie, which sells plateware influenced by agriculture and farmers' markets. Why don't we think of the plate with as much depth as we think of the food that sits on top of them? Not just how it holds the food on top or within it, but the materials they are made from and what they represent? This discussion really made me think a lot about the vessels we use to communicate food. It's not every restaurant that can have a ceramicist like Gregg and give them the space to be creative, but for many that strive for something different it could be a missed opportunity. One of the signature elements he works with is bone, using mostly the femurs of cattle that live at Stone Barns. Using a late 1700s recipe by Josiah Spode, he breaks down the bones into a powder, which gets remade into plates and cups. What's fascinating is they have done tests about the quality of the bones and it is directly related to how the cows live. A healthier, grass fed cow not injected with hormones has purer bones that result in better plateware. It really makes you think about what we are putting in our bodies.--Host: Nicholas GillCo-host: Juliana DuqueProduced by Nicholas Gill & Juliana DuqueRecording & Editing by New Worlder Email: thenewworlder@gmail.comRead more at New Worlder: https://www.newworlder.com

The Pennsylvania Game Commission says the man was part of a hunting party of 24 people. A progressive group is targeting two Senate Democrats and an independent senator who voted to confirm some of President Donald Trump's judicial nominees. The group "Demand Justice" has launched a weeklong advertising campaign against Democrats John Fetterman and Maggie Hassan and independent Angus King. As pharmacy closures continue across Pennsylvania, a bipartisan group of lawmakers is questioning how the Shapiro administration is following through on the promises of a 2024 law created to support pharmacies. It featured nine matches, including a match between Eddy Guerrero and Super Crazy for the IWA Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship and a triple threat match between Christopher Daniels, Bryan Danielson, and Low Ki (who would become known as the "founding fathers of ROH"). In its first year of operation, Ring of Honor confined itself to staging live events in a limited number of venues and cities – primarily in the northeastern United States. Ten shows ran in Philadelphia, two in Wakefield, Massachusetts; one in metro Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and, one in Queens, New York.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

Monetary economist Judy Shelton (author of Good as Gold) praised Hassett in July 2025 for referencing the gold standard, noting it as a reminder that “Fed has a lot to answer for” in deviating from that era’s stability. The plan was simple on paper – use immobilized Russian funds as collateral for loans to keep Ukraine afloat. But Belgium is the custodian of the largest chunk of those assets. If something goes wrong, they're the ones holding the radioactive bag. This isn't some bureaucratic squabble. It's the EU's financing strategy cracking in real time. Prévot's pushback signals the core fear: If Europe touches Russian state money without watertight legal armor, Moscow retaliates – economically, diplomatically, and possibly through countersanctions on European firms. And here's the thing: the Commission thought it had majority backing. Belgium saying “nope” on the morning of rollout is a political body-slam. Happening next? The EU will scramble to rewrite the legal plumbing. Germany and France will pressure Belgium quietly – nobody wants to admit the plan is wobbling. Russia will weaponize the hesitation as proof the West can't agree on how to bankroll Ukraine. And Kyiv? Still waiting for the money that was supposed to be “already there.” Another example of Europe discovering that seizing assets is easy. Using them? That's where the real war begins. Ursula von der Leyen did not state that she received “permission” from the US to seize Russian assets. In a recent appearance at the GLOBSEC forum, she said that she informed the incoming Trump administration (specifically mentioning a conversation with Treasury Secretary nominee Scott Bessent) about the EU’s proposal to use frozen Russian assets as collateral for a “reparations loan” to Ukraine, and that “it was positively received.” https://twitter.com/briefing_block_/status/1996241939931201801?s=20 https://twitter.com/Dubinsky_pro/status/1996242036417028176?s=20 regime. Now the system is falling apart. Yermak is out. The crackdown is collapsing. Ukraine must release all political prisoners. I call on everyone involved in peace talks to demand this from Zelensky. These people committed no crimes. They were jailed for their faith, political views and demanding peace. Zelensky built a dictatorship – and filled prisons with dissent. I know what I'm talking about: I spent 24 months behind bars under this system. https://twitter.com/MarioNawfal/status/1996231792752287822?s=20 to Brussels to meet Zelensky, the team returned to Washington. No official reason was given, but the message is clear: there's no deal, yet. Putin's warning didn't help. He said Russia is “ready” for war in Europe and claimed any future conflict would be so fierce that “nobody will be left to negotiate with.” This setback casts doubt on whether a negotiated end to the war is possible anytime soon. It also suggests Kyiv isn't ready to engage on Moscow's terms. What's next: Watch for how Ukraine positions itself diplomatically in the coming weeks, and whether Trump's team will try again with a revised proposal. https://twitter.com/MJTruthUltra/status/1996059724173754525?s=20 situation may quickly arise where there is no one left for us to negotiate with” https://twitter.com/Panchenko_X/status/1996192741508645286?s=20 been given the black mark and is seen globally as corrupt. This collaboration brought us together and still holds the promise of lowering insurance premiums.” Paul noted the plan failed because Democrat AGs fought it in court, but it could now pass through Congress. Here’s why this matters: the current system forces individuals to buy insurance alone, giving them zero bargaining power against massive insurance companies. Association Health Plans let people band together through retailers or organizations to negotiate as a group, the same way large corporations do for their employees. More buyers in a pool means more leverage. More leverage means lower premiums. It costs nothing to implement and simply changes labor law. Competition works. Let Americans shop for insurance the same way they shop for everything else. https://twitter.com/EliseStefanik/status/1995856738994565416?s=20 Raskin against Trump Republicans to block this provision to protect the deep state. The new leadership team has produced dramatic results which we will produce for you, in detail, as the year wraps up. They will include a historic drop in the homicide rate, along with record disruptions, arrests and drug interdictions. Many of these personnel changes have upset a group of Comey-Wray era disgruntled former agents who prefer the old ways of operating. We are not going back -We have been working on an AI project to assist our investigators and analysts in the national security space. I received an update yesterday and I am happy to report that the product looks promising. More coming on this. – We are in the end stages of a redesign of the FBI crisis management process. The redesign is intended to make information more accessible and transparent in a crisis to enable quick and effective decision making. The project should be complete by the end of the calendar year. -We saved the taxpayers billions of dollars by scrapping the plan for an expensive new FBI headquarters building. We will be moving to the existing Reagan building after decades of fruitless haggling as the current FBI headquarters building crumbles. -We relocated over a thousand headquarters based personnel out of the Washington DC area and into the field to focus on violent crime, crimes against children, and terrorism. Those agents are now working on the mission in those regional offices. -In recognition of the growing threat, and in conjunction with the President's Executive Order, we designed, launched and completed the FBI's first-ever counter-drone school last month. Special thanks to Sebastian Gorka and DDCOS Regan for their help on the project. -The work force apprehended 4 of the FBI's 10 most wanted fugitives, and we are hunting down the rest. -We produced unprecedented disclosures, and took action on documents related to January 6, Crossfire Hurricane, Arctic Frost, and more. -The new leadership team, and the work force, made a series of ANTIFA related arrests in multiple states and assisted in record numbers of deportations and apprehensions. -Some of the culture changes we implemented include eliminating DEI, reforming the physical fitness test, making promotions contingent on real world results, severing ties with the SPLC and ADL, and implementing a new training curriculum to reflect current mission requirements. We dedicated significant personnel and financial assets to streamlining FOIA reform to ensure responsiveness. -We shut down multiple open air drug markets nationwide and, in conjunction with the White House, had 12 fentanyl precursors from China listed. -We created CIO and CTO positions to work with the CFO to find efficiencies and implement new technologies to assist in our mission. We conduct bi-weekly meetings and we have found and eliminated tens of millions of dollars in duplicative contracts, unnecessary real estate, and outdated technology. These are real savings to the taxpayer and each budget dollar allocated is intensely scrutinized for value. -We vastly expanded the overseas biometrics program to stop bad actors before they board a plane or vessel to the US. This gives us the ability to expand the border outwards and prevent the problems from coming here. -We are in the end stages of a reform project on our intelligence analysis positions to make them more responsive to current mission needs. We have been working with the field on this and we're happy with the progress. -We implemented a technology working group to ensure our technology tools evolve with the mission. (00:00) - Becoming a Physician(09:39) - Navigating Pre-Med College Life(17:20) - Navigating MD-PhD Gap Years(24:43) - Overcoming Challenges in McAt Preparation(35:31) - Choosing Medical Schools in New York(39:11) - Reflections on Pursuing MedicineGrowing up with a pediatrician aunt, Julia was captivated by the world of medicine from an early age. Her story is one of passion and perseverance, shaped by influential mentors and a deep love for science and biology. We explore how her early exposure to healthcare set her on a path marked by determination, from shadowing opportunities in high school to embracing the rigors of college science courses. Julia's journey is a testament to the profound impact of nurturing mentors and the power of early influences in shaping a lifelong commitment to the medical field. For those considering the premed track, the journey can be transformative, as experienced by a student who transitioned from Gonzaga University to the University of Pennsylvania. Initially drawn to Gonzaga for its small class sizes, they discovered a passion for neuroscience that led them to seek a university with more robust resources. At Penn, the pre-health office and a vibrant community of peers provided essential support, including MCAT preparation and research opportunities at CHOP. This narrative highlights the importance of aligning educational environments with personal aspirations and the value of a supportive academic community. The road to medicine is often fraught with challenges, notably the MCAT, which can test even the most dedicated students. Our candid discussion on the arduous journey of MCAT preparation reveals that struggles are common, but perseverance and strategic changes in study approaches can lead to success. For those pursuing an MD/PhD, like our guest, taking gap years to gain research experience can prove invaluable. Whether it's choosing the right medical school or overcoming skepticism from others, the journey demands resilience and alignment with one's passions. As we reflect on these stories, we hope to offer encouragement and guidance for future medical professionals navigating their unique paths.
Luigi Mangione has spent the last few days in court as his defense team fights for a fair trial and questions how Luigi Mangione was arrested and if it will jeopardize his rights to a fair trial. Welcome to Surviving the Survivor, the show that brings you the #Bestguests in all of #truecrime. In this STS episode, Emmy Award-Winning Host Joel Waldman updated STSNation on the latest developments inside the NYC federal courtroom. Luigi Mangione, accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson — the former CEO of UnitedHealthcare — in a high-profile December 2024 Midtown Manhattan killing, is back in court as prosecutors and defense attorneys spar over what evidence can be used at trial. Prosecutors have played chilling 911-call audio and surveillance footage of the killing and of Mangione's arrest five days later at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania, while the defense argues key evidence — including a 9 mm handgun, a notebook with alleged motive writings, and statements made by Mangione — should be excluded because they were obtained without a warrant or timely Miranda warning.Support the show & be a part of #STSNation:Donate to STS' Trial Travel: Https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/GJ...VENMO: @STSPodcast or Https://www.venmo.com/stspodcastCheck out STS Merch: Https://www.bonfire.com/store/sts-store/Joel's Book: Https://amzn.to/48GwbLxSupport the show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SurvivingTheSurvivorEmail: SurvivingTheSurvivor@gmail.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Episode 300 couldn't have been recorded anywhere else but AU Deer Camp, surrounded by the people who've shaped this journey. In this milestone episode, Jeremy sits down with Josh Hobson, Tim Sisock, and Jim D'Agostino—and for the first time, brings Josh's boys, Bryce and Reid, into the conversation. It's Saturday night of Pennsylvania's opening weekend of rifle season, and camp is buzzing: Reid tagged a buck, Jim filled a doe tag, and everyone's riding the high, retelling how the day unfolded. From chaotic morning mishaps (including rappel-downs, stuck haul ropes, and lost energy drinks) to the thrill of deer moving through frosty timber, the crew shares an unfiltered breakdown of Day 1 at camp and the year of hunting that led to this weekend. This episode goes deep into what makes deer camp special: the stories from past seasons, the growth each guy experienced this year, and the evolving traditions that now include the next generation. Jeremy, Tim, Josh, and Jim reflect on weird deer patterns, odd rut timing, tough lessons, missed opportunities, hard-earned successes, and how life, work, and family shaped their time in the woods. The kids bring fresh energy—talking bowhunting, rifle excitement, their favorite moments, and the pure, electric adrenaline of watching deer walk in. With laughs, self-deprecation, heartfelt gratitude, gear talk, future plans, and the undeniable magic of a camp full of hunters, Episode 300 captures exactly what Antler Up has always been about: family, friendship, growth, hunting stories, and digging deeper into why we love being out there together. On this week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman, Mitch is joined by Jake Fiola—an everyday Pennsylvania hunter, father, and endlessly reflective outdoorsman. Jake shares the story of an early-season hunt that became far more meaningful than the arrow, the antlers, or even the rare size of the buck he harvested. Hunting with his young son for the first time from an elevated stand, Jake found himself navigating a swirl of emotions: excitement, nerves, nostalgia, and the sobering responsibility of ensuring his child's safety. What unfolded was a moment that would change how he sees hunting, fatherhood, and the legacy we pass to the next generation.Together, Mitch and Jake dive into themes every parent-hunter wrestles with—slowing down, letting go of control, teaching through experience, and rediscovering why we hunt in the first place. Jake's story isn't about a giant buck; it's about gratitude, perspective, and the miracle of watching a child experience the woods the way we once did. This heartfelt conversation is a reminder that the true trophies in the outdoors are the memories made, the values shared, and the lives shaped while sitting side-by-side in a tree. The prosecution says Luigi Mangione ambushed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan sidewalk, fled the city, and was caught days later in a McDonald's with a backpack containing a gun and a notebook outlining an anti-health-care-industry ideology. The defense says that backpack shouldn't even exist in this case. They claim officers searched it illegally, questioned Mangione without Miranda, and collected statements while he was isolated in a Pennsylvania prison under constant watch. If a judge agrees, prosecutors could lose the alleged murder weapon, the writings on motive, and the statements tying it all together. This isn't just a murder case anymore. It's a fight over the Constitution — what police can do, what they can't, and whether a death-penalty prosecution can proceed if the evidence at the center of it was obtained the wrong way. Tonight, we break down the shooting, the arrest, the surveillance, the suppression hearing, the federal death-penalty push, and the extraordinary fallout if the judge throws out the evidence prosecutors are depending on. #LuigiMangione #BrianThompson #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #LegalFight #SearchAndSeizure #DeathPenalty #CourtHearing #NYC #TonyBrueski Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? On this week’s SoloPod, our guest is Dr. Adjoa B. Asamoah, leader of the CROWN act movement, which recently saw yet another victory in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania CROWN act, and others like it, classify protective hairstyles (like braids and dreadlocks) as a racial characteristic.
