August 27th: Norfolk Headless Body Found (1974) There are some cases that seem doomed to remain unsolved from the moment they are discovered. On August 27th 1974 a body was found in Norfolk, England. In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the upcoming new MBA admissions season. Cambridge / Judge leads the way with its first-round deadline next week! Graham and Alex plan to host monthly AMA-style webinars, as this new admissions season gets underway. The first is scheduled for this Tuesday, on YouTube; here's the link to Clear Admit's YouTube channel so you can subscribe and not miss any of the streaming: https://bit.ly/cayoutubelive. Graham also highlighted the upcoming September series of admissions events, where Clear Admit will host the majority of the top MBA programs to discuss Round 2 application strategy. Signups for this series are here: https://bit.ly/cainsidemba Graham then noted four admissions tips, which focus on areas of key importance for those targeting the first rounds. These include how to engage with representatives of the top MBA programs, the students, alumni and faculty, and how to show that you have done the research for each of your target programs. We also cover the differences in applying in Round 1 and 2, as well as the importance of understanding who reads your business school applications. We also covered a common myth - the higher the rank of the program, the better the fit for all candidates. Graham also highlighted the new series that Clear Admit is publishing this season, which focuses on profiling some of the leading MBA faculty at the top MBA programs. For this week, we have profiles on two faculty from Harvard Business School and from MIT / Sloan. We continue our series of Adcom Q&As; this week we hear from Dartmouth / Tuck, Cornell / Johnson and Northwestern / Kellogg. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected three ApplyWire entries: This week's first MBA admissions candidate is from India and has a modest undergraduate GPA, with a positive trend. They have not yet taken the GMAT. This week's second MBA candidate has a 740 GMAT, and is from rural India. Scholarships are a key concern from them. The final MBA candidate is from Nigeria and has a GRE score of 332. They have some NGO experience and now work as a chartered accountant. They are targeting a nice spread of MBA programs. This episode was recorded in Anse Saint-Jean, Quebec and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Drawing on a recent Bank of England study, Yoav explains how different participants leave distinct footprints on the FX curve, and why CTAs, far from being passive allocators, can act as dynamic responders to changing regimes. In this week's episode, both of our storytellers transform into someone they admire—one quite literally, the other more figuratively.Part 1: While juggling climate science studies and a budding comedy career, Rollie Williams finds an unexpected niche impersonating his environmental hero, Al Gore.Part 2: Scott Acton longs to follow in Hemingway's footsteps, but when his English teacher squashes his writing dreams, he reluctantly accepts his role as “the computer guy.”Rollie Williams is a Brooklyn-based comedian, video editor, and guy with both student debt and a Climate Science & Policy degree from Columbia University. He is the creator and host of the digital comedy series Climate Town. In the past few years, the channel has amassed 600,000 subscribers, several millions views, and a handful of awards. Rollie is also the co-creator and co-host of podcast The Climate Denier's Playbook. Formerly, Rollie performed a monthly comedy show 'An Inconvenient Talk Show' doing sketches and comedic deep dives by pairing comedians (SNL, The Daily Show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, etc) together with climate scientists (NASA, MIT, Harvard). When he's not doing climate stuff, Rollie plays an unhealthy amount of billiards and recently achieved his dream of commentating for the World Cup of Pool in England. Scott Acton is Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia. He did his undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech and graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Scott's laboratory is called VIVA – Virginia Image and Video Analysis. They work on image analysis problems from imaging for Alzheimer's disease to analyzing classroom videos for improving elementary math education. Scott also recently worked for the National Science Foundation as a program director for programs in signal processing and artificial intelligence. //The Wire//2100Z August 22, 2025////ROUTINE////BLUF: "FLAGGING" OPERATIONS CONTINUE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AS DISSENT GROWS REGARDING MIGRATION EFFORTS. JOHN BOLTON'S RESIDENCE RAIDED BY FBI.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE------International Events-United Kingdom: Opposition to migrant centers continues, mostly in the form of "flagging" operations around England. For the English, a common point of resistance has been the public display of the English flag, which in some context has been classified as a criminal act. As such, the emplacement of the St. George's Cross flag has become a focus point for British society over the past few days.-HomeFront-Colorado: The investigation into the stabbing of a park ranger at Staunton State Park has concluded with the arrest of the park ranger who initially made the allegations. Callum Heskett was arrested for making false claims regarding the attack, which turned out to be an elaborate hoax.Analyst Comment: It's not clear why he did it, but the Sheriff stated that Heskett intentionally stabbed himself and radioed in the "attack", which triggered a very widespread manhunt and lockdown of the surrounding area.Nebraska: Approximately two weeks since the raids first took place, two of the four hotels complicit in the Chaudhari child slavery scandal from have been shut down. The AmericInn and the Victorian Inn and Suites in Omaha were observed to be shuttered to the public yesterday afternoon, pending the human trafficking network investigations.Analyst Comment: The other two hotels, the Inn (formerly the Super 8) and the Roadway Inn are reported by local media to still be open for business, for the time being. Somewhat interestingly, the local media coverage of these closures has focused on the displacement of long-term residents of these hotels, many of which were formerly homeless. In an interview with local media, one hotel resident stated that these hotels were used as residences by people who couldn't rent due to poor credit, rental history, and so on. If these hotels were quietly serving as a sort of informal halfway house for long term residents, this human trafficking network could be much larger and more substantial than previously known.New York: This afternoon a tourbus suffered a rollover accident on Interstate 90 near Pembroke. The initial response was treated as a mass casualty event due to 52x patients being reported at the scene. Many fatalities and entrapments were also reported as a result of the crash.Maryland: This morning the home of John Bolton was raided by the FBI as part of an ongoing national security probe. The raid lasted several hours, and many boxes of documents were observed being removed from the residence.Analyst Comment: Beyond the headline, not much is known. Most journalistic speculation has theorized that the DoJ is trying to get him on mishandling of classified information, which is an easy charge to levy against most political elites who very rarely handle classified information properly.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In the United Kingdom, a bit of context for the "flagging" operations is important. Unlike in the United States (where the national flag is a common sight) throughout Europe in general national flags are not a typical observation throughout society. The one exception being...foreign flags. In many parts of the United Kingdom, the sight of Indian and Pakistani flags is vastly more common than the Union Jack, with foreign flags even being flown from government buildings.Even more important is that the official flag of the United Kingdom (but especially the flag of England, the St. George's Cross) has been demonized to the point of quite literally being illegal to display in some cases. Many people have been arrested for displaying the Union Jack at Hindu or Islamic street parades or events, a

Blackpool, Lancashire lies on the Irish Sea on the northwest coast of England, situated roughly 50-some miles north of Liverpool and 50-some miles west of Manchester. This seaside destination may conjure up visions of tourists, the Promenade, Pleasure Beach, or Blackpool Tower, but this week we focus on Blackpool as a crucial stop on the musical map. Joining us for this engaging discussion is one of Blackpool's favourite musical sons, John Robb! John was outside enjoying a lovely sunny day in Manchester, and we were lucky to get nearly an hour of his time before his phone connection went kaput. John has been at the centre of Blackpool post-punk legends the Membranes from their original 1977-1990 run to their post-hiatus return since 2009. Their initial era (including their three UK Top 20 indie albums and three Top 20 indie singles) is covered on Cherry Red's comprehensive 5 CD box set, Everyone's Going Triple Bad Acid, Yeah! They added to their already impressive body of work in the 21st century with two of their finest and most ambitious albums yet: 2015's Dark Matter/Dark Energy and 2019's What Nature Gives...Nature Takes Away. But wait, there's far more to this multi-faceted artist. Aside from also leading the punk band Goldblade, Robb has also produced bands like Therapy? and Cornershop; been a TV presenter and pundit; a journalist; best-selling author (including The Art of Darkness - The History of Goth, Punk Rock: An Oral History, Stone Roses and the Resurrection of British Pop, The North Will Rise Again, and an upcoming Oasis biography); creator of the essential Louder Than War website and magazine; festival boss; green revolutionary; vegan behemoth...a true renaissance man. Graham and Alex will be hosting an AMA-style webinar on August 26th via YouTube, as the new admissions season gets underway! Here's the link to follow us on YouTube and join the livestream: https://bit.ly/cayoutubelive.  Graham also highlighted the upcoming September series of admissions events, where Clear Admit will host the majority of the top MBA programs to discuss Round 2 application strategy. Signups for this series are here: https://bit.ly/cainsidemba Graham then noted an admissions tip which provides general guidance for MBA application essay writing. This also includes a section on how to use AI in helping to craft those essays. Graham also highlighted a new series that Clear Admit is publishing this season, which focuses on profiling some of the leading MBA faculty at the top business schools. For this week, we have profiles on two Wharton faculty. We continue our series of Adcom Q&As; this week we hear from Texas / McCombs and Michigan / Ross. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected three ApplyWire entries: This week's first MBA admissions candidate has an interesting European background and now works in Wealth Management in Switzerland. They want to move into venture capital, in the United States. This week's second MBA candidate is a mechanical engineer from India. They have a 740 GMAT and 8.35 GPA. The final MBA candidate works in London, and while they have a very good undergraduate record, their GMAT is currently 625. They do plan to retake the test before applying. This episode was recorded in Paris, France and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in Philadelphia, USA. Hello to you listening in London, England!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more for courage) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. It's true what they say: "A story grows in the gaps where the facts fall short." 47 and his cabal are exploiting the gaps to create cruel and obscene stories because they have no facts.Headlines that repeat 47's cruel and obscene stories like reign of terror, being on the eve of destruction, days of the dictator, subservience to the sociopath, and so on reinforce these stories. The more these stories are told without the counterbalance of truth, facts, good news, and how We the People are fighting back, the more these lies will take hold in our exhausted minds because these stories keep on gushing like torrents of water out of a broken fire hydrant.Hear me when I say this: I am no idiot. Treacherous times are alive and afoot. 47 and his criminally complicit cabinet, feckless GOP congress, and subservient SCOTUS on speed dial are after nothing short of the utter desecration of our country. So, We the People must continue to push back, show up, stand up, speak up, fight and ever fight! In the darkest days of World War II when all looked lost in the face of Nazi Germany's advance across Europe and the Dunkirk evacuation, Winston Churchill summoned the will of the British people against those odds.    His famous "We shall fight on the beaches" speech was a galvanizing address delivered to the House of Commons on June 4, 1940.Listen to a portion of history: “The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old.”Imagine the immense sacrifice and effort required of the British people to face the adversity and pummeling hardships of war. And yet, they did with courage and determination, with unwavering resolve to resist the Nazi threat, even to the last person, if necessary. If the British defeated the Nazis - against all odds - who are we not to follow in their footsteps and prevail against the enemy within our shores? We have no Churchill to summon us to battle; but we shall fight and we shall win because We the People are defying them and their obscenely hateful stories.Thank you for listening and making good trouble to liberate the land of the free and the home of the brave.  You're always welcome: "Come for the stories - Stay for the magic!" (Host: Christine) In the 13th century, nobleman Simon de Montfort led an infamous and bloody rebellion against his brother-in-law, King Henry III of England. Simon's fight against royal power (and controversial life!) caused him to be a focus of one of Footnoting History's earliest episodes. Now, over a decade later, we are revisiting his story for listeners both new and old –and incorporating more details, newer research, and better audio performance.    For further reading suggestions and more, please visit: https://www.footnotinghistory.com

It was around 7 pm on August 13, 1981, and 36-year-old Carol Morgan was working the till at her corner shop in a town called Leighton Buzzard in the county of Bedfordshire, England. This was a close knit community. Carol owned and ran the shop with her husband, Allen Morgan. Everyone in town knew and loved Carol, who was described by friends and family as warm, caring, genuine and friendly. Carol loved the shop, and the other lights of her life were her two children from a previous marriage. On that night, Carol was working at the shop alone, getting ready for closing, which was at 6pm. Her husband was at the movie theater in Luton with his two stepchildren. But at some point, someone surprised Carol. Allen and the children got home at around 10:10 pm. Shortly after arriving at the house, Allen raced to a neighbor’s house and asked him to come to the shop. The neighbor followed Allen into the storeroom and saw Carol in a pool of blood. Forensic testing revealed that Carol had been brutally beaten and stabbed with a weapon, something like an axe or a machete, something heavy but very sharp. She had been hit so hard that pieces of her skull and brain matter were on the floor. The police investigation would last 43 years and would take a lot of strange twists and turns to find out: Who came into that store and hacked Carole to death?See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Stassi's in England with C-O-Lo, recording old-school style in a hotel room—no cameras, no plan, just like the early podcast days. But between a work trip, no nanny, and Beau forgetting the stroller, it's been pure survival mode. “Auntie Al” flew in to help wrangle the kids after the nanny couldn't go, while Messer decided mid-flight that he only wanted his mom (goodbye wine-and-period-piece fantasy). They dive deep into Stassi's period piece obsession—her best, worst, and most historically inaccurate picks—and sneak in a little countryside magic between toddler alarms and winding village roads.
