The Conch Republic (/ˈkɒŋk/) is a micronation declared as a sarcastic secession of the city of Key West, Florida, from the United States on April 23, 1982. It has been maintained as a tourism booster for the city. Since then, the term "Conch Republic" has been expanded to refer to "all of the Florida Keys, or, that geographic apportionment of land that falls within the legally defined boundaries of Monroe County, Florida, northward to 'Skeeter's Last Chance Saloon' in Florida City, Dade County, Florida, with Key West as the micronation's capital and all territories north of Key West being referred to as 'The Northern Territories'".[1]

It's Friday, June 28th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Laos officials arrest pastor and 5 Christians On June 22nd, village officials in central Laos arrested Pastor Mum and five other Christians as they prayed in preparation for worship services the next day, reports Morning Star News. Sirikoon Prasertsee, director of Human Rights Watcher for Lao Religious Freedom, said, “The arrests took place on Saturday at Mr. Mum's home. They are currently being imprisoned in Xaibouathong District prison.” After Pastor Mum put his faith in Christ in 2019 upon experiencing God's healing, he established a church that worshipped freely in his home According to Open Doors, Laos is the 21st most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Please keep Pastor Mum and the other five Christians in your prayers. Biden gave confusing answer on economy Last night in Atlanta, President Joe Biden, the Democrat, debated former President Donald Trump, the Republican, on CNN ahead of the November 5th presidential election. With Jake Tapper and Dana Bash as co-anchors, the set up was unusual. Unlike most presidential debates, there was no live audience.  Plus, during the answer of one candidate, his opponent's microphone was turned off which prevented any interruptions. (You can watch the entire 90-minute debate or read the debate transcript through special links at www.TheWorldview.com.) Out of the gate, the hosts asked about the economy.  Biden championed the redistribution of wealth and then became confused, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Listen. BIDEN: “What I'm gonna do is fix the tax system. For example, we have 1,000 trillionaires in America, I mean billionaires in America. And what's happening? They're in a situation where they, in fact, pay 8.2% in taxes. If they just paid 24%, 25% -- either one of those numbers -- they raise $500 million dollars, billion dollars I should say, in a 10-year period. We'd be able to wipe out his debt. “We'd be able to help make sure that all those things we need to do -- child care, elder care, making sure that we continue to strengthen our healthcare system, making sure that we're able to make every single, solitary person eligible for what I've been able to do with the, with the COVID, excuse me, with um, dealing with everything we have to do with, uh..  Look, we finally beat Medicare.” Trump claimed that illegals will bankrupt Social Security and Medicare JAKE TAPPER: “Thank you, President Biden. President Trump?” TRUMP: “Well, he's right. He did beat Medicare. He beat it to death and he's destroying Medicare. Because all of these people are coming in. They're putting them on Medicare. They're putting them on Social Security. They're going to destroy Social Security. This man is going to single-handedly destroy Social Security. “These millions and millions of people coming in. They're trying to put them on Social Security. He will wipe out Social Security. He will wipe out Medicare. So, he was right in the way he finished that sentence. And it's a shame. What's happened to our country in the last four years is not to be believed.” Trump speaks out in favor of Abortion Kill Pill Dana Bash asked about the Abortion Kill Pill which 63% of mothers who abort their children use instead of surgical abortion today. BASH: “This is the first presidential election since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. This morning, the court ruled on yet another abortion case, temporarily allowing emergency abortions to continue in Idaho. “Despite that state's restrictive ban, former President Trump, you take credit for the decision to overturn Roe v Wade which returned the issue of abortion to the states.” TRUMP: “Correct.” BASH: “However, the federal government still plays a role in whether or not women have access to abortion pills. They're used in about two-thirds of all abortions. As President, would you block abortion medication?” TRUMP: “First of all, the Supreme Court just approved the Abortion Pill. And I agree with their decision to have done that. And I will not block it. “If you look at this whole question that you're asking is 51 years ago. You had Roe v. Wade, and everybody wanted to get it back to the states. Everybody -- without exception, Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives -- everybody wanted to back -- religious leaders. “And what I did is I put three great Supreme Court justices on the court, and they happened to vote in favor of killing Roe v. Wade, and moving it back to the states. Now the states are working it out. If you look at Ohio, it was a decision that was an end result that was a little bit more liberal than you would have thought. Kansas, I would say the same thing. Texas is different. Florida is different, but they're all making their own decisions right now. And right now, the states control it. That's the vote of the people.” In Psalm 139:13-14, David says to God, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Biden championed abortion, then fell apart President Biden, who has campaigned on his commitment to codify Roe v. Wade into law, took issue with Trump's victory lap over Roe v. Wade's defeat. BIDEN: “It's been a terrible thing what you've done. The fact is that the vast majority of constitutional scholars supported Roe when it was decided, supported Roe. This idea that they're all against it, it's just ridiculous. And this is the guy who says the state should be able to have it. We're in a state where in six weeks, you don't even know whether you're pregnant or not, but you cannot see a doctor and have him decide on what your circumstances are, whether you need help. “The idea that states are able to do this is a little like saying, ‘We're gonna turn civil rights back to the states -- that each state has a different role.' “Look, there's so many young women -- including a young woman who just was murdered, and [Trump] went to the funeral. The idea that she was murdered by an immigrant coming into, they talk about that. But here's the deal. There's a lot of young women to be raped by their, by their in-laws, by their spouses, brothers and sisters. By, it's just, it's just ridiculous. And they can do nothing about it. And then they try to arrest them when they cross state lines.” BASH: “Thank you.” The age of the candidates, and their golf games, were addressed Dana Bash raised the issue of age with both candidates. This is how Trump responded. BASH: “Former President Trump, you would be 82 at the end of your second term. What do you say to voters who have concerns about your capabilities to serve?” TRUMP: “Well, I took two tests, cognitive tests. I aced them, both of them as you know. We made it public. He took none. I'd like to see him take one, just one, a real easy one. Like go through the first five questions. You couldn't do it. I took physical exams every year. I'm in very good health. “I just won two club championships, not even senior, two regular club championships. To do that, you have to be quite smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way. And I do it. He doesn't do it. He can't hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match. I think I'm in very good shape. I feel that I'm in as good a shape as I was 25, 30 years ago. Actually, I'm probably a little bit lighter.” BASH: “President Biden?” BIDEN: “I'd be happy to have a driving contest with him. I got my handicap, which when I was vice president, down to a six. By the way, I told you before, I'm happy to play golf, if you carry your own bag. Do you think you can do it?” TRUMP: “That's the biggest lie that he is a six handicap of all." BIDEN: “I was at an eight handicap.” TRUMP: “Yeah, I've seen his swing. I know your swing. Let's not act like children.” BIDEN: “You are a child!” Presidential historian: “Most disjointed, least substantive, most dishonest debate” Appearing on “News Nation,” presidential historian Chris Stirewalt offered this analysis. STIREWALT: “In the 64 years of presidential debates, I feel pretty confident that I can say this is the worst one that has ever been done. The most disjointed, the least substantive, the most dishonest. I'm sure the only one that involved a debate about golf handicaps, fat jokes, and somebody calling somebody ‘Brandon.' This was a real low watermark. “I will say that no incumbent has ever done as poorly as Joe Biden did. In 1976, Gerald R. Ford got tangled up talking about Poland and Soviet domination of Poland. And it probably cost him a full term as president. It probably cost him that election. “And I'm here to tell you that what Joe Biden did tonight in the first hour of that debate, if he stays in this race, we will look back and say that the strategy by the Biden campaign to force an early debate and put Donald Trump front and center, and get this revved up, was a catastrophically bad strategic choice.” Why two Montana teens gave $100 and $25 to The Worldview Last night, I talked to a 17-year-old named Amos in Montana who gave $25 to help fund The Worldview. AMOS: “The money I contributed came from a job I have for our family business. People hire us to carry off their junk or just stuff they don't use anymore. We take it mostly just to the dump or, if we can, resell it or take to the thrift store. We like to do that too.” Amos told me what he likes about the newscast. AMOS: “I like the updates on the persecuted brothers and sisters around the world. It encourages me to pray for them more.” Plus, he mentioned the greatest moral issue of our time. AMOS: “I appreciate the updates on legislation concerning abortion in the U.S. and around the world. It helps me to pray for good leadership more. So, my prayer is that God's love for life would be upheld in our country.” I also spoke to a 13-year-old named Dahlia who lives in Helena, Montana. DAHLIA: “I like how you add Bible verses to some of your stories that you tell.” She decided to give $100. DAHLIA: “I have been listening to The Worldview for a long time and I would be sad if it stopped. So, when I decided to give some money, one hundred dollars is just what came to my mind.” Dahlia makes money by playing her violin at the Helena, Montana Farmer's Market every Saturday. DAHLIA: “People passing by usually give me tips in my violin case. I play about an hour at a time, for four hours. Over the course of four hours, I usually get around a hundred dollars of tips. And that's what I decided to donate to The Worldview.” In Acts 20:35, “The Lord Jesus Himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” 32 Worldview listeners donated $15,977.47 And finally, toward our $84,000 final goal by 5:00pm central this Saturday, June 29th, 32 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member news team for another fiscal year. It's Wednesday, July 19th, A.D. 2023. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark British Conservative Party suspends politician for opposing homosexuality Britain's Conservative Party  suspended a Christian political leader for opposing sexually perverted lifestyles. King Lawal is a member of the North Northamptonshire Unity Council. During so-called “Pride Month” in June, he tweeted this: “Pride is not a virtue, but a Sin. Those who have Pride should Repent of their sins and return to Jesus Christ. He can save you.” Within days, seven organizations cancelled Lawal. He may also face a police investigation. The Christian Legal Centre is now representing him. Lawal's tweet included a reference to Isaiah 3:9 which says, “They declare their sin as Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves.” Brazil's Evangelical churches skyrocketed by 500% A new study by the University of Sao Paulo found the number of Evangelical churches in Brazil has grown by over 500%. The South American country had just over 7,000 Evangelical churches in 1990. The number grew to 100,000 in 2019. That's 17 new churches every day. The latest demographic data shows Brazil's Evangelical population doubled from 9% in 1990 to 22% in 2010. Researchers expect Evangelicals to become a majority in the now Catholic-majority nation. New over-the-counter contraceptive pill Last Thursday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Opill, the first over-the-counter contraceptive pill. Perrigo, a company based in Ireland, plans to ship the pills out starting next year with no age restrictions.  The approval comes during a time of legal battles over abortion. States are introducing more limits on abortion after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022.  Meanwhile, the FDA's approval of the abortion pill mifepristone is facing legal challenges.  Tanking public school scores Public school test scores have been tanking recently according to new data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Average scores for 13-year-olds declined four points in reading and 9 points in mathematics compared with the 2019-2020 school year. The research also found children are less likely to spend their free time reading now. This year, 14% of students report reading for fun almost every day, down from 17% in 2020 and 27% in 2012. Higher-performing students were more likely to read for fun regularly. Worldview correction: Canadian Reformed Church rejects female pastors Yesterday, The Worldview reported and linked to a Christian Post article that indicated that the Canadian Reformed Church ordained women to church office. After receiving an email from a Worldview listener from within that denomination, we doublechecked the Canadian Reformed Church website and discovered that The Christian Post story was incorrect. In Article 3 of their Church Order, the Canadian Reformed Church denomination explains, “Only male members who have made profession of faith and may be considered to meet the conditions as set forth in Holy Scripture (e.g., in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1) shall be eligible for office.” We apologize for the error.  Court: Kentucky can now protect kids from transgender drugs and surgeries A U.S. District Court lifted an injunction last Friday on a Kentucky law that protects children from transgender drugs and surgeries. The law is now fully enforceable in the state. Republican Attorney General Daniel Cameron said, “Today's ruling is a win for parents and children. … Moving forward, my office will continue to defend Senate Bill 150 and stand up for the right of children to be children, free from the influences of leftist activists and radical gender ideology.” Proverbs 20:26 says, “A wise king sifts out the wicked, and brings the threshing wheel over them.” South African Worldview listener finds newscast hopeful Peter Goede in Pretoria, South Africa wrote, "Good day Adam. I listen to your broadcasts often, mostly when driving long hours in my bakkie or ‘pickup' as you Americans call it, as I'm visiting farmers for my work. I enjoy the news from a Christian perspective with added Scripture explaining the situation. Here in South Africa, the radio news becomes extremely depressing. “But with The Worldview in 5 Minutes, there is hope, reminding us always that God is in control. Therefore, I now tend to listen only to your newscast and Kevin Swanson's Generations Radio. Thank you for the work you are doing. May God bless you, and give Him the glory!" Send your email of feedback to Adam@TheWorldview.com. Father & son from Indiana share their thoughts about The Worldview Matthew Dreyer in Greencastle, Indiana explained how his family started listening to the newscast. MATTHEW: “Well, we started really primarily listening during the pandemic. It was kind of a way to keep ourselves sane. And just to listen as a family. We'd go out for hikes. We lived in New Mexico at the time. We were part of an audio Bible ministry out there, and I was home a lot. It meant a lot to us to be able to know that The Worldview was safe. And when there are more mature stories, there's a transcript we can read ahead on for the kids. “We would listen to it while we hiked. We would listen to it as a family. We talk about the persecuted church and what's going on there. We talk about what God's doing all over the world. And we appreciate the biblical perspective that you put on everything. So, we want to support you.” And his 15-year-old son, Elijah, shared his thoughts. ELIJAH: “I enjoy learning about the current news from a Christian perspective. It's really the only way I get my news.” 13 Worldview listeners gave $8,565 Thirteen Worldview listeners donated toward our $80,000 goal by Monday, July 31st to keep this unique Christian newscast on the air for another year. Our thanks to Adam in Caldwell, Idaho who gave $20, Dick and Karen in Largo, Florida who gave $25, Joe and Sheryl in Westmoreland, Tennessee who gave $50, Steve in Loveland, Colorado who gave $100, and Darcy in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada who pledged $10/month for 12 months for a total gift of $120. And we were touched by the kindness of David in Austin, Texas, Matthew in Marysville, Ohio, John in Sebastopol, California, and Vivia in Florida City, Florida – each of whom gave $600 as well as Thomas in South Bend, Indiana who gave $2,100. As promised, Shannan in Alexandria, Minnesota matched each of those last five donations with an additional $3,000! If you are the final Worldview listener to give a one-time gift of $600 or pledge $50/month for 12 months, Shannan will match your donation as well up to $600. Those 13 new donations add up to $8,565. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (Drum roll sound effect) $41,546.16 (Crowd cheering sound effect) In order to hit our $60,000 immediate goal by this Friday, July 21st, we need to raise $18,453.84. That would mean 15 more people to pledge $50/month and 30 more to pledge $25/month. Just go to TheWorldview.com and click on “Give” at the top right to give what the Lord is prompting you to donate.  Make sure to select the “Recurring” tab if that's your wish. Hurricane Andrew was a powerful and destructive Category 5 hurricane that struck the Bahamas, Florida and Louisiana in August 1992. It is the most destructive hurricane to ever hit Florida in terms of structures damaged or destroyed, and was the costliest in financial terms until Hurricane Irma surpassed it 25 years later. It was the strongest landfalling hurricane in decades and the costliest hurricane to make landfall anywhere in the United States, until it was surpassed by Katrina in 2005. In addition, Andrew is one of only four Category 5 hurricanes to make landfall in the United States. Andrew caused major damage in the Bahamas and Louisiana, but the greatest impact was felt in South Florida, where the storm made landfall as a Category 5 hurricane, with sustained wind speeds as high as 165 mph. Passing directly through the city of Homestead south of Miami, Andrew stripped many homes of all but their concrete foundations. In total, Andrew destroyed more than 63,500 houses, damaged more than 124,000 others, caused $27.3 billion in damage, and left 65 people dead. Andrew began as a tropical depression over the eastern Atlantic Ocean on August 16. After spending a week without significantly strengthening itself in the central Atlantic, it rapidly intensified into a powerful Category 5 hurricane while moving westward towards the Bahamas on August 23. Though it briefly weakened to Category 4 status while traversing the Bahamas, it regained Category 5 intensity before making landfall in Florida on Elliot Key and then Homestead on August 24 1992. With a barometric pressure of 27.23' of mercury at the time of landfall in Florida, Andrew is the sixth most-intense hurricane to strike the United States. Several hours later, the hurricane emerged over the Gulf of Mexico at Category 4 strength. After turning northwestward and weakening further, Andrew moved ashore near Morgan City Louisiana, as a low-end Category 3 storm. After moving inland, the small hurricane curved northeastward and rapidly lost its intensity. Andrew first inflicted structural damage as it moved through the Bahamas, lashing the islands. About 800 houses were destroyed, and there was substantial damage to the transport, water, sanitation, agriculture, and fishing sectors. Andrew left four dead and $250 million in damage throughout the Bahamas. In parts of southern Florida, Andrew produced severe winds; a wind gust of 177 mph was observed. The cities of Florida City and Homestead received the brunt of the storm. As many as 1.4 million people lost power at the height of the storm; some for more than one month. In the Everglades, 70,000 acres of trees were downed. Rainfall in Florida was substantial, peaking at 13.98 inches in western Dade County. In Florida, Andrew killed 44 and left a record $25 billion in damage. Prior to making landfall in Louisiana on August 26, Andrew caused extensive damage to oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, leading to $500 million in losses for oil companies. It produced hurricane-force winds along its path through Louisiana, damaging large stretches of power lines that left about 230,000 people without electricity. Over 80% of trees in the Atchafalaya River basin were downed, and the agriculture there was devastated. 23,000 houses damaged, 985 others destroyed, and 1,951 mobile homes demolished, property losses in Louisiana exceeded $1.5 billion. The hurricane caused the deaths of 17 people in the state. Andrew spawned at least 28 tornadoes along the Gulf Coast. In total, Andrew left 65 dead and caused $27.3 billion in damage. Welcome to the Elevator World News Podcast. Today’s podcast news podcast is sponsored by elevatorbooks.com: www.elevatorbooks.com ELEVATORS LEGISLATED IN FLORIDA CITY Commissioners in Winter Garden, Florida, unanimously approved amendments to the Florida Building Code, including one that requires elevators in certain multifamily structures, West Orange Times & Observer reports. Allowed under a state statute that permits local governments to enact requirements stricter than minimum state standards, Winter Garden now requires multifamily buildings that are at least two stories tall to have elevators. City leaders considered requiring elevators in buildings with 10 or more residences but scrapped that proposal because of its potential to stifle economic development in low-income neighborhoods where cost is an issue. Winter Garden Community Development Director Steve Pash said that “requiring elevators in a structure with 50 or fewer units essentially would make the project unaffordable for developers.” Image credit: courtesy by Suppadeth Wongee for Pixabay To read the full transcript of today's podcast, visit: elevatorworld.com/news Subscribe to the Podcast: iTunes │ Google Play | SoundCloud │ Stitcher │ TuneIn

This is what I would have been doing for my daughter," she said. Talabert created the free prom shop in memory of her 17-year old daughter, who was shot and killed just months before she could attend her senior prom in 2017. Noricia Talabert was dropping off a friend at home when she got caught in the crossfire of a shooting. “Through the tragedy and the pain this is how I get my enjoyment,” her mom said. “Out of helping somebody

A historic newspaper in the City of Florida City.        "The Monitor" existed for more than a decade supplying hard-nose community news  throughout South Dade, from the City of Florida City to Richmond Heights.          "The Daniel" exemplified by the Biblical Old Testament, Book of Daniels, Chapter 6. (Daniel and the lion's den). My testament :  "Are you a Daniel? "Are you willing to be thrown into a lion's den without fear of walking out again?" Symbolic of a hero.   My saying: " Unless you're perfect...there is nothing wrong with failure. But there is nothing "right" with failing to try."   Positive Impact! Nimmond "The Daniel" Lockhart

PLF Director of Communications Harold Johnson is joined by PLF Atlantic Center Managing Attorney Mark Miller to discuss PLF's latest litigation for our signature cause; the defense of everyone's property rights. The City of Marathon has robbed a family of constitutional property rights, and deprived family members of a legacy from their late parents, by designating their nine-acre island as a bird preserve, or “rookery,” prohibiting the family from building a home or anything else on the vacant property. The city is violating the Constitution by refusing to pay the family a meaningful form of “just compensation,” as the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause demands when government seizes private property or prohibits any economically beneficial use of it.
