Ephesians 2:1, 4-5, "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins." "But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions. It is by grace you have been saved." By the Spirit's divine energy, He savingly convinces men of the truth of the gospel. Those whom He saves, are men like Saul of Tarsus, who abhor the whole thing. He pours His effectual influences upon men, and infidelity melts away like the iceberg in the warm Gulf Stream. He touches the indifferent and careless sinners, and they repent, believe, and obey the Savior. He makes proud men tremble, and wicked men quake for fear. The regenerating work of the Spirit can make . . . the harlot to be chaste, the drunkard to be sober, the thief to be honest, the malicious to be forgiving, the covetous to be generous, and above all, the self-righteous to be humble.Whether He quickens, consoles, enlightens, refreshes, sanctifies, anoints, or inflames the soul--the Spirit always does it by taking the things of Christ, and revealing them to us.The Spirit works through the gospel. He is Almighty, and has complete mastery over the realm of mind. He has the ability to effectually: illuminate the intellect, win the affections, curb the will, and radically change the nature of man!He works all things after His own pleasure, and like the wind, He "blows wherever He wishes." When He puts forth His omnipotent energy, none can stand against Him. He has converted three thousand in a day, and He could as readily convert three million, or three hundred million.
This week, we feature jockey Micah Husbands - his great week at Gulfstream and how he is doubly related to Patrick Husbands. One of our favourite guys, Gary Smith, the former colourful NHL goalie, had a huge score at Santa Anita. He tells us why he bet the 12-1 shot and how much he won. On April 24, it's the 50th Sovereign Awards. Trainer Blaine Wright has two great horses nominated. No other horse in any category has won as many races as either of Wright's nominees, but he knows his chances of getting a trophy are very slim. Just a few days after Brett MacDonald drove to his 2,000th win, we have his dad, Ronald MacDonald serving up his 1,000th training win (not sure if he had fries with that). A horse named Fleetwood Mac raced at Mohawk, so we went retro for some classic tunes. And have you ever seen a 10-race card at Mohawk that produced winners for 10 different drivers? Neither have we, but it came oh so close to happening Thursday night.

James MacDonald did it again – he won 5 on the same night at Mohawk. Jessica Hallett describes the t-shirt she made, with all the proceeds going to the family of Hunter Myers. Horse owner John Bianco pulled off one of the great claims in recent years and he talks about Air Combat and a few other good ones. Business aviation is a critical part of the U.S. economy, yet it's often misunderstood as a luxury for the wealthy. While some may criticize the corporate executive boarding a Gulfstream, the reality is that this industry supports jobs, commerce, and economic growth nationwide. But are we, as an industry, doing enough to communicate its true value? Challenges continue to emerge—from regulatory scrutiny and negative public perception to pressing issues like safety, technology modernization, tariffs, and the ongoing pilot shortage. Recent high-profile accidents have placed aviation safety under the microscope, making it more important than ever for industry stakeholders to collaborate and reinforce best practices. However, these challenges also bring opportunities. By addressing safety concerns, modernizing technology, and advocating for business aviation's critical role, we can foster an environment where the industry not only survives but thrives. In this episode, I sit down with Andrew Broom, Chief Revenue Officer at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), to discuss the efforts being made to keep business aviation at the forefront of safety, innovation, and industry advocacy.

Guest: Blake Scholl, Founder & CEO of Boom Supersonic“Passion and drive trumps knowledge and experience,” says Boom Supersonic CEO Blake Scholl. Long before he was running Boom — which earlier this year successfully tested the world's first privately-developed supersonic jet — he was enabling “the world's most obnoxious spam cannon” at Groupon, or designing a barcode-scanning game for retail shoppers. But eventually, Blake found the courage to be more audacious and do something closer to his lifelong love of aviation. He began educating himself about things he had never thought to learn, and tapping his LinkedIn network to get intros to the smartest people in the industry. “If you imagine yourself on like the day of IPO, 99 percent of what you needed to know to get to that day, you didn't know on day one,” he says. “So, why not take 99 percent to 99.5 percent, and work on the thing you really want to exist, even if you don't know anything about it yet?”Chapters: (01:07) - Blake on Boom's beginnings (01:52) - Breaking the sound barrier (05:23) - Concorde's legacy (09:36) - Navigating regulations (12:08) - Boomless supersonic flight (16:48) - The test flight (20:11) - Day-of nervousness (24:26) - Carrying passengers (26:55) - Cost & wi-fi (30:19) - “No middle seats” (32:35) - Hard tech (36:48) - What if Apple made a plane? So what's the most revolutionary invention in the history of the American Republic? The internet, maybe? Or the electric bulb or the motor car? Perhaps. But according to the Harvard historian Joyce Chaplin, it might be the Franklin Stove, Benjamin Franklin's innovation which she claims in an eponymous new book, represents an unintentional American revolution. What's really important about the Franklin Stove, she explains, is that it democratized heating, thereby enabling ordinary Americans to survive the “Little Ice Age” of the late 18th century. In an 21st century America where research into global warming is now under threat, Chaplin's intriguing The Franklin Stove is a convincing argument for the popular benefits of environmental science. Here the 5 Keen On America takeaways in our conversation with Joyce Chaplin* Franklin as a climate scientist: Chaplin reveals how Benjamin Franklin's work with his stove led him to understand atmospheric convection, which he then applied to explain larger climate systems like storm movements and the Gulf Stream. He essentially became an early climate scientist through his practical inventions.* The Little Ice Age context: Franklin invented his stove during the Little Ice Age (1300-1850), particularly in response to the severe winter of 1740-41. Unlike today's climate crisis, there was virtually no "denialism" about climate change during this period - people openly discussed and sought solutions to the cooling climate.* Franklin's environmental legacy: While Franklin initially created his stove to conserve wood and trees in Pennsylvania, his later models burned coal. This shift toward fossil fuels contributed to what Chaplin calls "an unintended industrial revolution" that ultimately led to our current climate warming crisis.* Franklin's political evolution: Though a monarchist for most of his life, Franklin underwent a radical transformation later in life, becoming head of Pennsylvania's abolition society after having previously owned enslaved people. This challenges the notion that historical figures were simply "products of their time."* Franklin's complex character: Chaplin, who has written extensively on Benjamin Franklin, portrays him as a self-cultivating narcissist who carefully crafted his public image and desperately sought fame from a young age. However, she acknowledges his genuine accomplishments and contributions to science and society, creating a more nuanced view of the founding father.Joyce E. Chaplin is the James Duncan Phillips Professor of Early American History at Harvard University, where she also holds affiliations with the Graduate School of Design and Center for the Environment. She is the author of The First Scientific American: Benjamin Franklin and the Pursuit of Genius, among other books, and her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and the London Review of Books. She lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators.
