Lisa's wellness endeavors are rooted in her passion for superfoods, which she began championing long before they were mainstream. Lisa entered the wellness space in 2011 with the founding of Beaming Wellness, an organic superfood café concept with locations throughout Southern California. The brand quickly attracted a cult following that established it as a trailblazer in the culinary and wellness industries. After exiting Beaming in 2018, Lisa began developing a larger-scale project with more ambitious reach: a direct-to-consumer superfood program offering functional, delicious products that simplify nutritional wellness. Out of this vision, Kroma Wellness was born. Lisa launched Kroma in July 2021 after conducting one of the most impressive capital raises in the history of the wellness industry. The brand's early angel investors, assembled by Lisa during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic consisted of celebrities, entrepreneurs, and notable public figures. Today, Kroma is 90% funded by women. Kroma offers delicious, high-quality on-the-go foods and beverages that deliver maximum nutrition and require minimal preparation. Kroma's menu of just-add-water bone and veggie broths, adaptogen superlattes, elixirs, snacks, and teas incorporate nutrient-dense superfoods and are known for their incredible flavor. The brand's hero product is the 5 Day Whole Body Reset that is revolutionizing the way people think about cleansing and detoxing. Focusing on nourishment over starvation, the Reset allows users to customize the program according to their needs and goals. Since its launch, Kroma has experienced astronomical growth and has become a go-to health optimization tool among celebrities and health-minded individuals worldwide. Customer retention is extraordinarily high and projected revenues continue to climb year-to-year. Beyond her reputation for architecting transformative wellness concepts, Lisa's ability to grow brands from capital raise to consumer zeitgeist has landed her on MindBodyGreen's list of “100 Women to Watch in Wellness.” She has also been profiled in Forbes, Vogue, Glamour, The Skinny Confidential, and The Art of Being Well, among other top publications and podcasts. With uncommon energy, perseverance, and conviction, Lisa continues to grow Kroma alongside her daughter Lexi. She also tours the country as a keynote speaker and mentors other female entrepreneurs. Lisa is a lifelong Californian and currently resides in Santa Monica.

You have probably heard the saying “Food is Medicine” and that couldn't be more true. What you put on your plate and into your body has the power to fuel your cells with what you need to feel your best. The opposite is true as well, and some foods can have us feeling sluggish and inflamed. Now let's be clear, the purpose of this conversation isn't to cause fear surrounding certain foods and have you thinking “Oh no, now I can't eat THAT too?!” We never want to label any food as “bad”, but the truth is that different foods do different things in our bodies, and the choices we make will greatly influence how we feel and look. Anais Goldberg has a beautiful way of breaking this concept down for us and shares her journey of being on the diet train for so many years, and the transformation that took place when she realized how to eliminate the stress around food and use it as medicine. Anais Goldberg is the Founder of Cook Intuitively with Anais, which is a holistic approach to wellness driven by her belief that “the road to wellness starts in your kitchen.” After birthing 3 children in a 20 month span, Anais found herself having a hard time recovering and suffered from a long list of symptoms that she later learned were related to inflammation. Once she learned how to eat to combat inflammation, everything changed. Using flavorful combinations of food from her heritage combined with her passion for cooking, Anais teaches others how to build delicious, quick, and stress-free meals. As a busy mama, you know how valuable that is. In this episode of The Wellness Revolution Podcast, Anais shares how she was able to reduce symptoms of her autoimmune disease by learning which foods to eat and which to avoid in order to avoid inflammation. She also explains what it means to eat for radiant and youthful skin, and how much younger she feels since making this lifestyle shift. Anais also understands that sometimes we just want to eat a big bowl of pasta or have a dessert, and that is totally okay. It is your mindset and what you do after that matters. Tune in for more! Are you a high-achieving woman who struggles to maintain consistent, healthy nutrition habits? Your perfectionism and all-or-nothing mentality has most likely served you very well in your life and led to great success with your career, but can be detrimental when it comes to your nutrition. In this series, Amber covers the nutrition pitfalls of high-achieving women and the habits that often keep you stuck in a miserable diet cycle. In part 1, Amber broke down the all-or-nothing perfectionist mentality and how it can often be a double-edged sword. Part 2 of this series dove into the pitfall of not prioritizing nutrition and planning ahead. In this episode, Amber addresses another area that so many women struggle with, and that is negative self-talk. When you speak poorly to yourself, it is going to show up in other areas of your life. As a high-achieving woman, you are used to excelling and achieving your goals, but if you find yourself struggling with your nutrition, Amber encourages you to reflect on how to talk to yourself. A key component of Amber's nutrition programs is allowing yourself to get curious about your cravings. If you are stuck in the cycle of putting yourself down about your food cravings, you will not allow yourself to explore what may be causing you to want certain foods. Your cravings can reveal things about your body, but if you just beat yourself up for wanting certain foods, you will stay stuck in that negative loop. To take charge of your nutrition once and for all, you have to reconnect with your body, learn to detach from emotions, and let go of guilt. Own the fact that you're a grown ass woman and can eat whatever you want. Taking your power back in this way is incredibly freeing and allows you to take a deeper look into why you feel drawn to certain foods. So for all the high-achieving women out there that struggle with a perfectionist mindset, you are a powerful and strong woman, but you need to learn to soften that in some areas because the very thing that excels you can also be the thing that takes you down in other areas.  Episode resources: Amber's free intermittent fasting guide: ambershaw.com/fasting Kroma Wellness 5-Day Reset: Use code AMBER for 15% off at kromawellness.com Get your Serenity gummies and discover more CURED Nutrition products at: curednutrition.com use code AMBER10 for 10% off Key highlights: How Amber's negative self-talk kept her stuck in a cycle of unsuccessful diets Amber offers a reframe to get out of the loop of speaking poorly to yourself  What to explore about your cravings instead of beating yourself up about them About Amber Shaw Amber is a Mind and Body Transformation Expert, Founder of The Wellness Revolution, motivational speaker, and NBC Health and Wellness Coach. In this episode of The Wellness Revolution, Amber chats with Katy Whalen, CEO of Joi Women's Wellness, an operation that focuses on hormone optimization and peptide therapies for women. Women often experience hormone imbalances, particularly after the age of 40, but these issues are frequently dismissed by doctors or attributed to menopause without further investigation. Katy discusses the symptoms associated with hormonal imbalances, such as anxiety, mood swings, and sleeping difficulties, and outlines effective treatment options for women experiencing symptoms related to low levels of estrogen or progesterone. While conventional medicine may be a viable option, it is crucial not to ignore alternative options that may work better for an individual's specific needs. Women should be their own advocates and search for informed healthcare providers. Katy emphasizes the critical lifestyle factors that significantly affect hormonal health and metabolic function, urging women to take a proactive approach to self-care and find healthcare providers who can assist them in maintaining their health. At Joi, Katy customizes treatment plans for each client based on their unique needs, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, and she talks about how Joi can help women on their health journey. As we age, it becomes increasingly important to focus on optimizing our hormones, which will in turn help with achieving weight loss in an effortless and sustainable way. Amber's approach to weight loss incorporates what she calls the “Hormonal Fat Loss Blueprint” and in this series, she breaks down the 4 pillars of this proven method. It is all about learning how to work with your body and hormones instead of fighting against your biology and inevitably feeling frustrated and stuck in a cycle of diets that just don't work. This episode is part 3 of this series, so make sure to tune in to parts 1 and 2 before diving in here. In the previous 2 parts, Amber covers the topics of eating for hormone stabilization, and also what it looks like to incorporate intermittent fasting in a flexible manner that optimizes hormone levels. Part 3 of the Hormonal Fat Loss Blueprint is all about exercising in terms of hormone optimization and fat loss, which is a crucial piece of the puzzle that so many women aren't aware of. We hear so often that it is all about “calories in vs calories out” so we end up slashing calories and increasing exercise intensity only to be so frustrated when we don't see results. The truth that not enough people are talking about is that more is not necessarily better when it comes to exercise. As we age, it becomes more and more critical to focus on stress mitigation, both mentally and physically. By drastically cutting calories and doing high-intensity workouts several days a week, you may actually be causing more harm than good by putting too much stress on your body.  Prioritizing exercising is important for our overall health, but we don't want to overdo it. By focusing on restorative exercises such as yoga, walking, and biking mixed in with some strength training, your body will thank you. Tune in next week for part 4 of this series on The Hormonal Fat Loss Blueprint. Key Highlights More is not always better when it comes to exercise Why women approaching menopause and beyond need to focus on more low-impact exercises Amber shares what her workouts look like Why women over 40 and 50 need to be strength training  The best way to change body composition Focusing on restorative exercises for stress management Episode resources: Amber's free intermittent fasting guide: ambershaw.com/fasting Kroma Wellness 5-Day Reset - Use code AMBER for 15% off: kromawellness.com About Amber Shaw Amber is a Mind and Body Transformation Expert, Founder of The Wellness Revolution, motivational speaker, and NBC Health and Wellness Coach. Up until recently, anyone who wanted to quit alcohol would be hard-pressed to find resources that didn't use the words “recovery”, “addiction”, or other similarly scary, shame-inducing terms. That's true even today. What's more, the majority of experts typically recommend either going on a highly-restrictive program or drinking only “in moderation”. Our guest, Amanda Kuda, has tried (and failed) to quit alcohol using both approaches. Today she does a deep dive into how she has found a third way to finally enjoy an alcohol-free life—and has since helped countless other women do the same! Unable to find the right coach for herself, Amanda dedicated herself to mastering the principles of habit formation and personal & spiritual development, in order to gradually change her relationship with alcohol. It all started with getting clear on those areas in her life in which she fell back on alcohol as a tool to deal with life's various challenges. “As soon as alcohol was out of the way,” Amanda says, “my whole world opened up. All of the pieces that I've been putting into place before then to improve myself: to be more emotionally regulated and stable, to be spiritually happier, and to be more abundant—all of a sudden, those things started working tenfold.” In this episode, Amanda shares how her refusal to live a “moderate life” motivated her to completely remove alcohol from the picture, and how she totally transformed at the physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual level as a result. She discusses the importance of embracing the authentic you that's just waiting to be unearthed once you become content with facing the challenges of life without the numbing effect of alcohol. As she explains, the urge to drink is just the symptom. Once you identify the root, you can make healthier, more objective lifestyle decisions toward living an alcohol-free life. Tune in for more! Key Highlights What does it mean to be "sober curious"? Nutrition is an important aspect of our lives that matters from the time we are born and all throughout adulthood, so why is there not more research and talk about what we can eat every day to live a long and healthy life? That is the goal of Amber's guest Dr. Joseph Antoun. Dr. Joseph is CEO & Chairman of the Board of L-Nutra and a Member of the Forbes Business Development Council. He has his Doctorate in Medicine and Masters' in Medical and Biological Sciences at Saint Joseph University.  His focus is on seeing people before they are sick by tailoring nutrition as medicine and aiming for longevity. The goal is to prevent disease by living a lifestyle that combats the causes of diseases instead of relying on conventional medicine when diseases are present. Conventional medicine of course has a very important role in our lives, but we want to not have to use them in the first place, and instead live a life that sets us up for health and longevity from the get-go.  In this episode, Dr. Joseph explains that a lot of diseases happen later in life due to the lifestyle choices that people make, and may not even be aware of the negative consequences. Factors such as nutrition, stress, happiness, and exercise play a major role, and this is what Dr. Joseph has dedicated his career to educating people on. He takes a deep dive into the topic of fasting and explains what happens in our bodies when we fast, the benefits of fasting, different forms of fasting, and the optimal windows for certain goals. Tune in for more! Key Highlights How can we tailor our nutrition as medicine? Why are we not looking into food as a cure for diseases? Why do most diseases happen later in life? There has been a lot of buzz recently in the medical community about Alzheimer's and the disease's link to insulin resistance. You might have heard that some medical professionals are now referring to Alzheimer's as “type 3 diabetes” due to research findings indicating that people with type 2 diabetes are at a higher risk of Alzheimer's due to its correlation with insulin resistance. Amber recently read a scary statistic stating that two-thirds of Alzheimer's patients are women, and less than 2% of cases are believed to be due to a genetic predisposition. So the questions become: why are women more likely to develop Alzheimer's, and if it is not due to genetics, what can we do to prevent it? Is now a known fact that insulin plays a huge part in the development of Alzheimer's, so we should be looking at the preventive measures for type 2 diabetes as a way to also prevent Alzheimer's. These lifestyle shifts are the same habits that Amber teaches in her coaching practice as her approach to sustainable weight loss and a healthier lifestyle. These habits include: consuming less processed foods, regular exercise, more protein and fiber, regular sleep, and stress management. Amber also mentions certain tools for checking your blood sugar if you are curious about how certain foods affect your levels.  We know that continued high blood sugar levels lead to inflammation which can damage brain cells, which can lead to neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's. Now that we know this direct link to this terrible disease, why wouldn't we make changes to our lifestyle to ensure we are doing all that we can to avoid it? Amber's goal with this episode and The Wellness Revolution podcast in general, is to arm you with information so that you can be your own advocate for your health. Key Highlights Alzheimer's is plaguing so many women and we are not talking about it enough The recent buzz in health and wellness referring to Alzheimer's as type 3 diabetes Why is it called type 3 diabetes? As we are heading into another New Year, this is the perfect time to talk about goal setting. You may be reflecting on the last year and thinking about what you want to achieve in 2023, but what if you have been approaching goal setting all wrong? For Amber, she used to set extreme goals that would eventually fade out, leading to a feeling of failure and frustration. What she has learned is that so often, we aren't setting realistic and sustainable goals. You should know that we are all about “realistic and sustainable” around here, so how do we approach goal setting in a way that sets us up for success and gets us those wins? Amber has 3 tips in this episode to help you transform how you are setting goals so you can actually achieve them. Amber's first tip is to focus on the process instead of the outcome. Instead of setting a goal of losing X amount of weight, think about what it would take to get there, and work your way backward. Maybe part of that is getting a regular workout routine, which means setting aside time for it, which could mean getting up earlier, which means going to bed earlier. Now your new goal is to go to bed at a certain time, which is specific and sets you up to achieve the bigger picture. When you focus on the habits of a healthy person, weight loss is the byproduct. The next tip is to go SLOW. For so many of us, we have a knee-jerk reaction to jump into a “quick-fix” diet, but we already know those do not work for long-lasting results. To make lasting, sustainable change, we need to go slowly. What we want to achieve is a lifestyle change that will stick, and that doesn't happen overnight. It happens with intentional incremental changes and mindset shifts. The third tip is to make sure you are setting SMART goals. This stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. All goals should have a component of each of these, and Amber walks you through what that looks like. Cannabis is often thought of as a drug that makes you stoned, but many experts and studies indicate that small doses of THC in the plant can have several health benefits. In addition to offering a more natural remedy for patients experiencing very debilitating issues, THC can also be used to relax or unwind without the need for alcohol. THC has been used for treating chronic pain, fatigue, and more. Many people experiencing common mental health issues, such as PTSD, depression, and anxiety, find their symptoms improve when they start microdosing. Microdosing THC has even been found to enhance creativity and focus. Just like wine, marijuana comes in many varieties or strains, so you can select a product that supports your wellness goals best. And to mitigate the psychoactive effects of THC, pick a product that has a higher CBD to THC ratio. Lately, Amber has been using CURED Nutrition's Serenity gummies as a more natural and healthy way to unwind at the end of a long day rather than having a glass of wine. CURED Nutrition's products are designed to promote balance, reduce stress, and assist your body in coping with daily stressors. The products contain ingredients like CBD, adaptogens, and functional mushrooms. It is totally understandable if you have reservations about using THC, but Amber wants to provide you with information about its benefits so you can make informed choices for your health. This episode might interest you if you are curious about how THC could make a positive difference in your life.   It is common for Amber to hear from women she coaches that healthy eating during the holidays causes them a great deal of stress. Due to a vicious cycle of binge-restrict diets, many women think they need to blow their diets and overindulge during the holiday season. However, there is a much better way to approach eating during this season as well as throughout the year. You can mindfully indulge in a way that does not cross the line of binging, even if you are actively trying to lose weight. To begin with, you should understand that you have the freedom to decide what you eat. Over time, mindful indulgence keeps you consistent because you allow yourself the things you love, even if they are not a regular part of your diet. Amber promotes not looking at your food as good or bad because when we do this, we tend to think: “I am bad if I eat this food” when we eat something we have deemed “bad.” Subsequently, we want these foods even more, resulting in feeling like we need to reset our diet all over again. In this episode, Amber will share three ways you can still cash in on the holiday goodies you love while working towards your fitness goals because sustainable weight loss isn't dependent on perfection, and the path to health isn't a diet; it's a lifestyle change. Many people, especially women, are constantly striving to change their bodies, seeing their bodies as ongoing projects. It is fine to have body goals like losing weight or gaining muscle, but the problem comes when we impose restrictive diets and unpleasant exercises on our bodies. These are aggressive methods that cannot be sustained. According to Nina Manolson, our podcast guest for today, this type of behavior is antagonistic to the body. Nina developed an antagonistic relationship with her body at the age of nine, and once she healed that relationship, she made it her life's work to help women develop trusting and respectful relationships with their bodies. Nina's work is called Body-Peace because she helps her clients gain peace with their bodies. Nina focuses on helping people cultivate supportive relationships with their bodies through compassion. Nina suggests that whenever you feel broken or as though your body is causing you problems, take a step back and realize that the problem isn't you or your body but rather the relationship you have with it. The negative self-talk and restrictions many women subject themselves to in an effort to achieve the body they think they need are often what keep them on a diet roller coaster. In this episode, we discuss how to shift your mindset about your body to be in support of it instead of against it, how to begin making sustainable changes that will help you feel at peace with your body and your food, and how to dig deeper to understand why you may want to change your body in the first place. Nina will even share some of her poems about body peace. Key Highlights: The relationship we have with our bodies should be allied rather than antagonistic Being at war with one's body is a symptom of not feeling like enough Nina shares some of her poems about body peace Nina's advice for anyone struggling with body shame or having difficulty living in their body Dissatisfaction with your body is not a weight issue, it's a relationship issue Prioritizing pleasure in movement: Start with what you love Losing weight while being in an allied relationship with your body Wearing clothes that make you feel bad fosters an aggressive relationship with your body It is okay to grieve as we age and change Health markers to pay attention to that are more scientific than the number on the scale Episode resources: Kroma Wellness 5-Day Reset -Use code AMBER for 15% off: kromawellness.com Amber's free intermittent fasting guide: ambershaw.com/fasting   Connect with Nina Manolson: Website: ninamanolson.com Facebook: facebook.com/NinaManolsonBodyPeace Instagram: @ninamanolson YouTube: Nina Manolson Free Nourished Woman Nation group Body-Poems Free Resources: ninamanolson.com/freebies Body-Peace Seekers: ninamanolson.com/bodypeaceseekers   Connect with Amber Instagram: @msambershaw TikTok: @msambershaw Website: ambershaw.com

It is so important for us to distinguish between the truth and the false stories we have created in our head. Those stories can lead us to talk very negatively to ourselves and constantly put ourselves down by thinking that we aren't good enough, or are not doing enough. It is about time we ditch that negative self talk track we tend to play in our brains, and learn how to have compassion for ourselves. This episode is a follow up to Amber's previous solo episode 119 in which she dove into a topic that came up in one of her coaching sessions. In this episode, Amber covers the topic of learning to love yourself for who you are without having your happiness tied to external and variable things. Our upbringing plays a huge role in the thought patterns that we carry into adulthood, even if we don't feel as though we have major traumas or events in our lives that would impact us so significantly. Being bullied as a child, or having someone make a comment about our size can become imprinted on us and without realizing it, we store those thoughts and ideas and let them dictate how we feel about ourselves. It is time we stop doing that and become aware of the fact that these negative thoughts about ourselves are not serving us.  Happiness is an inside job, so the key is to become aware of how we talk to ourselves, discover the origin of the way we feel about ourselves, and have compassion for the younger version of us that was shaped by events in our life. Then, we have to untie our happiness from any external factors such as our weight, other people, or anything else that isn't who we are inside, which is a badass mama that deserves to feel amazing in her skin. Key Highlights Amber's recap of a recent coaching session she had in which a client told her she was struggling with negative self-talk while trying on new clothes How our childhood shapes our thoughts as adults If your happiness is tied to something external, such as your weight, you will never feel it is enough  Knowing the origin story of your negative self talk, gives you compassion for your younger self Episode resources: Amber's Little Black Dress Bootcamp: ambershaw.com/little-black-dress-bootcamp Kroma Wellness 5-Day Reset -Use code AMBER for 15% off: kromawellness.com Book: Happy Days by Gabby Bernstein About Amber Shaw Amber is a Body Transformation Expert, Founder of The Wellness Revolution, motivational speaker, and NBC Health and Wellness Coach. This episode is brought to you by Yotpo.   Entrepreneurs can't be afraid to ask for advice and lean on others, says Lisa Odenweller, CEO of Kroma Wellness, a brand that creates and ships clean-eating foods and wellness products.   "I do ask for help, and I get involved, and I have mentors and advisors, and some people are for business things, some things are on personal things," Lisa says. "I have a walk that I do with one of my advisors, and we don't talk about how to scale the company. We talk about how do I be a leader, a powerful leader, or what are the other challenges that I face?"   As for advice for other entrepreneurs struggling in a crisis or rebuilding from ground zero, Lisa says there's not one specific answer or strategy to get back on your feet.   "I think you have to continue to know where your North Star is," she says. "You have to know what it is that is going to light you up."   Put another way: You don't always know the final result, but you need to know the direction.   "I love it when people ask me, where is your business in five years?" Lisa says. "I don't even like the question. I understand what we're building, but there's so much happening in an accelerated time frame that I can tell you where I think we might be. But I mean, it's that's a long time."   Lisa says she was catapulted into the world of superfoods about 15 years ago after reading about them in "Oprah" magazine.   "I remember the articles vividly because I read them, and I was like, what are these, and how do I learn about them? And it was before they were a thing," she says. "So I just started to like order all of them and try to figure out and learn about them. And I simultaneously was going to nutrition school, so it was already sort of in me that I wanted to learn more about food as medicine. But then, of course, these superfoods took it to the next level, and I started to heal myself and some of my hormonal challenges through these superfoods."   Kroma Wellness launched with 19 products, Lisa says, which wasn't an easy thing to do. For those just getting started, Kroma has a 5-day reset and a 1-day reset.   In Part 2, Lisa talks about:   * The need to ask for help and mentor others. * Advice for those rebuilding from a crisis or ground zero. * The difference between knowing the final result and knowing the right direction. This episode is brought to you by Yotpo.   Lisa Odenweller, CEO of Kroma Wellness, has been on a life mission over the past 13 years to simplify the path to wellness with products that make you feel good.   Kroma offers a variety of non-perishable items - lattes, broths, nut butter, porridge - but right now, they're best known for their first-day lifestyle reset.   "We don't use the word cleanse ... it's an opportunity to nourish your body," Lisa says. "Our differentiator is that it's focused on nourishment over deprivation and starvation. It's an abundant amount of beautiful superfoods that just helps you feel and look great."   Kroma aims to take the mystery out of wellness with the philosophy that every new habit builds on itself.   "If you are a big coffee drinker, for example, and you drink eight cups a day, and you convert to having one cup of matcha with all the collagen and stuff, that's a win, right?" Lisa says. "And that leads to another win and another healthier habit."   Lisa's career has included multiple wellness brands, including the Beaming chain of cafes in California. Lisa says that the challenges posed by previous ventures have been a great teacher.   "I've always had this philosophy that even when you're going through tough things, whether it's a divorce, loss of a job, loss of a company injury, whatever it might be, there is a gift in it," she says. "And it's even when you don't know what that may be in the moment."   Fear is a fact with entrepreneurship - it either fuels or cripples you, Lisa says.   "I don't think that entrepreneurship is for most people," she says. "As much as I'm a firm believer in following your dreams, I don't think it's for the faint of heart."   In Part 1, Lisa talks about:   * Gratitude for an encouraging message from Gwyneth Paltrow. * An overview of Korma's products and five-day reset program. * The lessons to be learned from facing obstacles. * The challenges she faces opening a cafe brand while going through a divorce as a mother of three. * Facing the fears of entrepreneurship. * How she had an entrepreneurial mind even earlier working for large companies.   Join Ramon Vela and Lisa Odenweller as they break down the inside story on The Story of a Brand.   For more on Kroma Wellness, visit: https://kromawellness.com/    Subscribe and Listen to the podcast on all major apps.
