One Last Time For Your Mind! New Theory Radio will be taking an indefinite hiatus after this episode. ⁣⁣After over 100 shows spanning two and a half years, we have decided to pause the show in its existing form. ⁣⁣We wanted to thank anyone that's ever been a guest, a listener, a supporter, a sponsor, a subscriber and a champion of NTR since we started in November 2018. Getting creatives engaged through dialogue was our mandate, and we're grateful we were able to do that on a weekly basis. ⁣⁣We also wanted to give a BIG thank you to SAUGA 960 AM for giving our show a consistent platform. It is with their support and resources that we were able to make things happen. We're grateful to Joty, Praveen, and everyone that worked behind the scenes in ensuring that our content was hitting the airwaves. ⁣⁣The New Theory brand isn't going anywhere. We are going to use this time to renew our focus and plan for the future. Keep it locked on our socials over the coming months for updates on this new direction. ⁣--------On this week's episode, host Nav Nanwa and his brother Amit Nanwa speak to NTR alum Radha Tailor about this decision, as well as the both of them share their favourite memories from the show during it's long run. They also provide details on what's next for New Theory. As well, we close out our #NTRSpotlight with the ever-popular Dijah SB. Dijah makes navigating synth loops, booming bass claps and smoothed out production look easy. Their music is a raw look into the mind of a black non-binary artist rapping their way through hope, heartbreak and breakthroughs. They just dropped their highly anticipated debut album 'Head Through The Waters' last week to amazing acclaim . They speak to Nav about the album release, the trajectory they've been on since last year, and what it was like to get a 'chef's kiss' endorsement by Kid Cudi. NTR is here and we've brought back the Pop Culture Panel! This week, host Nav Nanwa welcomes Singer/Songwriter STORRY, and the Founder of Honey Jam (non-profit organization focused on fostering female talent) Ebonnie Rowe to theorize on the following topics: - The Continued Need for Equality within the Music Industry: Storry's new project and Ebonnie's long legacy with Honey Jam have both done an amazing job addressing equality within the industry. But at times it can feel like for every step taken forward, there's an incident that makes the industry take two steps back (i.e. the reaction to Cardi B's divorce, Meg/Tory situation). The three of them discuss what can be done to ensure that the music industry is welcoming to everyone. - Live Event Industry: Live event staff across the world were honoured last week with red lights being reflected onto concert venues. Six months in, and with wave 2 here....the return to live shows is still up in the air. We get everyone's thoughts and predictions as to when live in-person shows will return and what it could look like in the future. - Interlude-19/Honey Jam 25: Nav also talks to STORRY about her newly-released project 'Interlude-19', and with Ebonnie about Honey Jam's 25th Anniversary Celebration (which happens on October 1st)New Theory Radio theme produced by Dusty Loops (@DustyLoops and www.dustyloops.com)Follow our Panellists:Nav NanwaTwitter: @nnanwaInstagram: @navnanwaFollow New Theory Radio on Social Media - @newtheoryradio--------------------------------------STORRYInstagram & Twitter: @storrymusicCheck out STORRY's new album 'Interlude-19' which is now available on all music streams.: https://www.storrymusic.com/Ebonnie Rowe (Honey Jam)Twitter & Instagram: @thehoneyjamDon't miss Honey Jam's 25th Anniversary celebration taking place on Thursday October 1st. It's a special #NTR Spotlight edition of New Theory Radio this week. The NTR Spotlight is a segment we introduced a few weeks ago where we profile an artist or an organization pushing arts and culture scene forward. This week we feature an artist, a film festival, and a magazine - all of which are bringing unique perspectives to their appropriate mediums. First, host Nav Nanwa welcomes artist/community outreach leader Terence Penny to talk about his latest project 'TP The EP 2'. Terence is from the Jane & Finch community in Toronto and talks about his upbringing, his ability to connect with people, and also drops an exclusive regarding a big collaboration he has lined up for his deluxe release. Then, Nav is joined by the Founder/President of IFFSA Toronto Sunny Gill to chat about the virtual direction for this year's festival. IFFSA is the largest South Asian film festival in North America and will be taking place from August 6th to the 16th online. Sunny talks about how they went about pivoting the festival amidst this pandemic, and how they've consistently kept their programming diverse and thought-provoking for the last nine years. Lastly, Newest Magazine editor Harjot Ghuman-Matharu stops by to talk about the magazine's upcoming launch, and the importance of identity, art and togetherness. Harjot is working with Creative Director and New Theory alum Raji Aujla on this project which aims to provide a voice to artists that are underrepresented within the mainstream.
