She has spoken at MIT and Harvard, contributed to The Wall Street Journal and Harvard Business Review, and appeared on TODAY and CNN. Venture capitalists' emphasis on high-risk, high-reward investments pushes founders to grow rapidly, secure significant funding, and heavily invest in growth-related activities. Risk Tolerance and Investment Decisions: Founders should carefully consider their risk tolerance when making decisions about offers from investors. Some investors may push entrepreneurs to turn down offers with potentially high returns due to the risk involved. Learn the difference between Venture Capital vs. Private Equity and their pros and cons. Why founders must comprehend their company's potential outcomes in both favorable and challenging markets, guiding them to make well-informed decisions that match their risk tolerance. Why redefining personal definitions of success beyond financial milestones is important.   Quotes: "The way people conceive of work and how it fits into their life has changed dramatically." – Kathryn Minshew "If you, as an employer, have this mindset that you're lucky just to be paid, you cannot get great people to do your job." – Kathryn Minshew "There's a lot of upside and a lot of downside to this approach [of venture capital]. The upside is they can take chances; they don't have to bet on a sure thing... The flip side... is that most investors would rather increase the chance of you being a billion-dollar company a little bit, even if it massively increases the chance of you going bankrupt." – Kathryn Minshew This episode is sponsored by Medjet. Here are a few reasons why coaching is increasingly important for CEOs and executive: Complexity of the Business Environment: The business world is becoming increasingly complex and volatile. CEOs and executives are faced with rapid technological advancements, changing consumer expectations, evolving market dynamics, and global competition. Coaching can help them navigate this complexity, anticipate challenges, and make informed decisions. Accelerated Pace of Change: The rate of change in today's business environment is unprecedented. CEOs and executives need to adapt quickly, innovate, and lead their organizations through change initiatives. Coaching can provide them with the necessary skills and strategies to lead effectively in fast-paced and ever-changing environments. Coaching helps them develop their leadership skills, enhance their emotional intelligence, and improve their self-awareness. It enables them to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, fostering personal and professional growth. Managing Stakeholder Expectations: CEOs and executives have to manage the expectations of various stakeholders, including employees, shareholders, customers, and the broader community. Coaching can help them enhance their communication skills, build strong relationships, and effectively engage with stakeholders, leading to more successful outcomes. Work-Life Balance and Well-being: The demands placed on CEOs and executives can be overwhelming, often leading to high levels of stress and burnout. Coaching can support them in achieving a healthy work-life balance, managing their energy and priorities, and developing strategies to promote their well-being. It can also provide a safe space for reflection and self-care. Ethical Decision-Making: CEOs and executives face complex ethical dilemmas and need to make responsible decisions that align with the values and purpose of their organizations. Over the past two decades, digitization, technology, and software have contributed to the life sciences industry's rapid disruption. However, this was just the beginning of pharma's data and software-led transformation. Hear Jassi Chadha, President, and CEO of Axtria, explain how data, artificial intelligence (AI), and software will become the industry's primary disruption drivers as data variety, volume, and velocity continue growing. Whether companies succeed in 2025 and beyond will depend on how well they leverage AI and analytics for deriving valuable, data-driven insights. Tune in as Jassi describes how years of digitization at Moderna wired the company to lead the COVID-19 vaccine race and what the Pfizer-Israel deal reveals about the companies' access to data.  In This Episode, We Cover:  [02:30] The industry's disruptions in the past two decades and their primary drivers.  [04:40] The role of data, AI, and software in disrupting the future industry.  [07:00] The evolution of business needs and models; pharma and life sciences companies' need for intelligence systems.  [11:20] Moderna's digital edge which leads to their rapid vaccine development. [15:10] Jassi's thoughts on Israel's data deal with Pfizer.  Key Takeaways:  Companies must lead with AI to stay relevant going forward as data volume, variety, and veracity increase.
