I had the pleasure of welcoming Nick Ross to the show! I have a ton of respect for this man, he pushes me to do better each day, and he has an incredible story to share with you! I am so thankful he came onto today's show to share his wealth of knowledge and personal experiences, plus exact action items you can do to change your life! You will definitely want to listen to this one from beginning to end! In the episode, we discussed: How Nick and I met, through the Nutritional Coaching Institute. Nick's background, leading up to joining the music business, to where he's at now. Nick's cancer journey, which started in 2016. The breaking point, after his last chemo treatment, that lead him to making a change in his life! Your Inner Critic or Your Highest Potential, the two masters in your mind, which are you silencing and which are you pursuing? Nick's Mindset Strategy - Circle the W & Stacking Wins Why investing in yourself pays off in the end! Benefits of having a coach or mentor. The power of momentum vs. the power of motivation - what do you really need? The framework of “The 5 Critical Tasks to Winning the Day” Are you selling yourself short on skills that you don't even know you possess? Daily goals vs. Long-term goals - how should they be structured. How you can break them down to make them easier to digest and plan for. The goal must be bigger than your own wants, needs, and desires - a different perspective on how to “find your why”. A bulletproof way to never give up on your goals! Law of Attraction vs. Law of Vibration - What comes first? Is one more valuable than the other? How it relates to mindset. Did Nick ever want to give up during his journey? What is the ONE THING he wanted when he was sick? You don't need do go through what Nick has, you don't have to go through bankruptcy, sickness, homelessness, trauma, etc. in order to make change - it just takes making that decision to take action! Mindset vs. Feeling - will you ever make progress and GROW if you always do things based off of how you feel? No one cares about your problems, they only care if you overcome them. Share your story - people need to hear it! Even if you don't think you have “a story” - share it anyways! Takeaways from going through testicular cancer - the importance of taking care of yourself and seeing a doctor routinely - don't let pride get in your way! Your body is rented - don't take anything for granted! Take care of it! Every morning - you get a chance and a choice - what are you doing with them? Dream BIG - make them scary - make them so big that others laugh at you! Be willing to do whatever it takes to get to your destination. The Imposter Lies Within: Silence Your Inner Critic, Tame Your Fear, Unleash Your Badassery by Sheryl Anjanette A brilliant book that covers the intersection between business and mindset. A unique approach, illustrating the toll unchecked imposter syndrome has on health and performance, with a holistic approach to get past it. Do you feel like it's just a matter of time before you're found out? That you were lucky, or just in the right place at the right time? That you are not as accomplished as others think you are and you've been deceiving them all? You may feel like you're not good enough. Not worthy of what you have, or not deserving of what you've accomplished. There's a disconnect between your actual accomplishments and how you feel about them. The imposter within is lying. You're not really an imposter, and it's not that others think you are either. But the feeling is real. It feels like you may be exposed at any time as a fraud. Ready to meet the liar? Our guest today is Jo Love, a mental health advocate, doodler, trainee psychotherapist and now author. Jo's first book Therapy is… Magic is an essential guide to the ups and downs and life-changing experiences of talking therapy. Part memoir and part 'how-to' guide it's a handbook on what to expect when you decide to seek out a therapist, based on Jo's own 18+ years experience of seeing mental health professionals. IN THIS EPISODE: Why 'slow Mondays' are the best way to start the week How it feels to share about mental health - and mental illness - online and in a book Why therapy is hard, awkward and ongoing as well as 'magic' (and just one tool for managing mental well-being) Why Jo is so nervous about her mum reading the book Why mental health - like physical health - is something that needs to be maintained as a lifelong process Why the wrong experience doesn't mean that therapy is not right for you How trauma (small 't') stays in our body and why we need to release it How Trauma (capital 'T') can be baked into our DNA - BOOKS REFERENCED: Therapy is…Magic by Jo Love > https://amzn.to/3uBi8X3 On Becoming A Person by Carl Rogers > https://amzn.to/3HIXzeL Find Your True Voice: Stop Listening to Your Inner Critic, Heal Your Trauma and Live a Life Full of Joy by Emmy Brunner > https://amzn.to/3oG3WZ3 A Manual for Being Human by Dr Sophie Mort > https://amzn.to/3HFxGws Rise of the Girl: & Empowering Conversations to Have with Your Daughter by Jo Wimble-Groves > https://amzn.to/3HFw3Pt The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read by Phillipa Perry > https://amzn.to/3LzowEi The Body Keeps The Score by Dr Bessel van Der Kolk > https://amzn.to/3GHUyu1 Depression in a Digital Age by Fiona Thomas > https://amzn.to/3oCBZRI It Didn't Start with You by Mark Wolynn > https://amzn.to/34u1gXm Little Women by Louisa May Alcott > https://amzn.to/3oFEvql - SHOW NOTES // FIND OUT MORE ABOUT JO: website > www.jolove.co.uk instagram > @jo__love__

Welcome to 2022! In today's solo episode, I'm reviewing some of our most downloaded episodes from 2021 and sharing our upcoming guest speaker series and topics already scheduled for this year. It's going to be a great year, so come along for the ride with me! Show Highlights: The countdown of our top ten most downloaded episodes from 2021: #10: Ep. 231 Intuitive Flow with Kari Betton Our July Guest Call was on Intuitive Flow and Creativity. Kari is a coach and mentor for highly sensitive and twice-exceptional people, and she has a passion for helping them find their innate sense of intuitive flow. #9: Ep. 239 Perspectives in Giftedness with Gail Post Being gifted can complicate many situations in life. It is wonderful to know that empathetic and supportive professionals are dedicating their lives to advocacy for these individuals. Learn more with psychotherapist Gail Post. #8: Ep. 229 Thinking Patterns I have seen a lot of posts about the overlap and similarities between ADHD and Autism, and it got me thinking about some observations I'd made both personally and professionally testing neurodivergent kids over the years. I also asked for feedback from neurodivergent people on social media about the patterns they related to most. #7: Ep. 235 Playing with Your Inner Critic with Jeff Harry This show allows you to listen to our recent group call with Jeff Harry of Rediscover Your Play. Jeff provides tips, insights, and interactive exercises to learn more about “Playing With Your Inner Critic.” Find the full discussion in the Embracing Intensity Community. #6: Ep. 202 Chipping Away at Societal Conditioning with Julia R. Wild This show focuses on highly sensitive people. My guest loves helping HSPs uncover the layers of conditioning put on them by society and bloom in their uniqueness. Julia R. Wild is a bestselling author, spiritual teacher, and trauma educator with a Master's degree in psychology. She is also a writing, creativity, and life coach. #5: Ep. 207 “But I'm Not Really THAT Smart” I've heard a lot more comments lately along the lines of, “I relate to your work, but I'm not really gifted.” In this episode, I discuss why gifted folks might not recognize their own gifts, along with some resources to explore if you suspect that you might be gifted. #4: Ep. 236 Gifted and 2E Assessment This solo episode is about a topic that I've thought about for a long time, so I'm happy to bring it to you. We will discuss getting an assessment as a gifted or twice-exceptional adult, so I hope you find my thoughts and tips helpful. #3: Ep. 208 Coaching and Mentoring Neurodivergent Adults with Dr. Kimberly Douglass I found this guest in the most unusual place: TikTok! I first noticed her work with gifted and twice-exceptional people, and I knew I had to have her on the show. Dr. Kimberly Douglass is president and CEO of Remote Learning Solutions. #2: Ep. 226 Asynchronous Development in Gifted Adults with Tiff Choumm Our June Guest Call was on Asynchronous Development in Gifted Adults. Asynchronous development is a hallmark of the gifted experience, when we may have developed far ahead of our peers in some areas and have fallen behind in others. This can continue into adulthood, especially for those who are also twice-exceptional, and it can impact many aspects of our life experiences. Find the full discussion in the Embracing Intensity Community. #1: Ep. 205 Twice Exceptionality–When Giftedness Meets ADHD Last year, I participated in an event called Camp ADHD, where folks around the world shared talks and discussion on topics related to ADHD. I spoke about twice-exceptionality, specifically as it relates to ADHD, and the topic seemed to resonate with many, so I decided to share my talk on twice-exceptionality on the podcast as well. I'm super excited to announce our 2022 guest speakers and general topics! (Specific details are subject to change.) This is the fifth episode of the six part series, "Making Headway with Your Inner Dialogue: 6 Ways to Take Charge of Your Inner Critic." Series.1 : Episode.5 In this episode, Dr. Dee Discusses: What are programs? Mapping out a new programYour new program's congruencyPre-experiencing a programKey Takeaways: Programs are our brain's way of mapping out a belief combined with a memoryOur brain is always running on programs and sometimes, old programs get in the way. First, consider a talent or behavior that you desire to see in yourself. Second, ask yourself who this program will benefit. Third, what is your passion? Fourth, think about your highest intention for this program. Fifth, take note of what benchmarks or behaviors you'll see when you map out this program - what would you be doing, saying, and what would be your timeline. Think about six reasons on how your program is congruent and make a timeline - like making progress in your program every two weeks. Visualize what it would look like for you to have mapped out this program. Create a positive visualization of your desired outcomes. “You can construct self-defining memories from this moment forward by visualizing what you'd like to see. It helps shape your identity, it also builds your self-efficacy” - Dr. Dee Recommended Resources:The Future of Memory: Remembering, Imagining, and the BrainDaniel L. This is the fourth episode of the six part series, "Making Headway with Your Inner Dialogue: 6 Ways to Take Charge of Your Inner Critic."Series.1 : Episode.4 In this episode, Dr. Dee Discusses: Five components of emotional resiliencePractices for building emotional resilienceWhat triggers you and how to know if you're triggeredPulling the lever whenever you're triggered Key Takeaways: Build social competence, look for win-win situations. Practice proactive problem-solving. Exercise freedom and autonomy. Forgive, let go and move on. Cultivate empathy and connect with people. Take time daily to think of 10 things you're grateful for. Ask for help when you need help. Clarify your relationships, have emotional growth partners. Make some time for fun and laughter. The lever is the ability to challenge your triggers through a reframe in the moment, so that the situation will be processed more objectivelyPull the lever by asking yourself these questions: "what am I thinking about right now that's connecting these triggers and feelings", "what's coming up for me", "what emotions am I having" - be aware of fears and feelings within your answers. Then ask yourself, "is being triggered helpful?" Lastly, if it's not helpful, ask yourself what are other possible thoughts that could be helpful for you - think of five things. “Wherever your thoughts go, your reactions follow. Emotions are a chemical response to your thoughts. .” - Dr. Dee Recommended Resources:Burns, David. The Secrets of Self Esteem. This is the first episode of the six part series, "Making Headway with Your Inner Dialogue: 6 Ways to Take Charge of Your Inner Critic." Series.1 : Episode.1 In this episode, Dr. Dee Discusses: What is the internal dialogue?Getting to know our internal dialogueCognitive distortions to avoidHow to cultivate a healthy inner dialogue Key Takeaways: Internal dialogue is you hearing your own inner voice - effective communication with that inner voice is crucial to building your identity and how you see the world.Mindfulness is all about catching our thoughts which are often slippery and putting them into the center of our awareness. You can assess what you're thinking by how you're feeling.Once we catch the thought, we can pick it apart and change it for the better and once we change our thoughts, we can ultimately change our lives. There are a lot of cognitive distortions - unhealthy thoughts that must be brought into awareness and be changed for your life to change for the better. Some samples of this is black-and-white thinking and personalizing. If you want to know if a thought is a distortion, ask yourself if that thought is helpful or if it bring any positive effect to your inner state.Creating your reality as an originator starts with a decision. “The originator you see yourself being, it's just a thought away and this is your first step in finding out how to do that. ” - Dr. Dee Recommended Resources:“The Work” by Byron Katie“Get Out of Your Own Way: Overcoming Self-Defeating Behavior” by Mark Goulston and Philip Goldberg“Taming Your Gremlin (Revised Edition): A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way” by Richard David Carson Connect with Dr. Dee: Website: BlueEggLeadership.comLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/drtrudeau

Could comparing your body image to other women be derailing you from God’s purposes over your life? It is a privilege to bring on my first guest, Heather Creekmore! She is the author of Compared to Who and The Burden of Better. She has the heart to help women be free of comparison and to help them release the burden of it! In this episode, we talk about all things comparison including what happens to our relationships when we SETTLE with comparing ourselves to other people? Even to our own husbands. Wait what?? We talk about what we OUGHT to seek rather than comparing ourselves to others (I mention Rahab here so listen out for that). And assessing whether we have a "crab" mentality, amongst other goodies for you to bite into! If you are struggling because you bit the comparison bait just know that you are not alone! I still catch myself falling into that trap. The difference today is that the Holy Spirit has helped me to realize that comparison is simply a decoy from Satan. If you get anything from this episode I pray that you will grasp this truth: That comparison is something the Enemy uses on us so that we overlook and forget about God’s might, love, and purposes for us here on Earth. PLUS, comparison never brings us closer to Jesus. For that reason, let’s keep pursuing Jesus, ladies!! Journey with Jesus, Jaclyn P.S. Outward appearances are no longer their priority. Feel spiritually bankrupt when it comes to fitness and food approaches ⭐️-----------------⭐️ REFLECTION QUESTIONS: Is it okay to desire physical transformation? In what ways will my body shape make me holier (not happier)? Can you describe how changing your body shape will draw you closer to the plans Jesus has for me? OR will it block or prevent me from growing in His Grace and truth? Did I pray about it? ⭐️-----------------⭐️ BIBLE VERSES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE: Jeremiah 17:9 “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Psalm 139:23-24 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. 1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” ⭐️-----------------⭐️ WANT MORE EPISODES??
What if I told you that you DON’T need self-confidence in order to be successful? What if I told you that self-confidence is a lie from the enemy? Why do we conform to/fall for the pressures of the world that tell us what we “need” when we acknowledge that all our answers are found in the Scriptures? What does God say about needing self-confidence? That’s what we cover in today’s bonus episode. Let’s be reminded... We find our confidence in Christ. Not in ourselves! Confidence in Christ, Jaclyn P.S. PSST… Did you hear about the giveaway for my 1-HOUR coaching session? HERE’S HOW TO ENTER: STEP 1: Write a review on iTunes. (How has this podcast impacted you in your journey or shifted your perspective regarding fitness?) STEP 2: Send this podcast to at least 1 girlfriend. THAT’S IT! Already wrote a review? Email me a screenshot of it. Then, be sure to share this podcast with a friend by sending them a link to this podcast. That’s your entrance! I will announce the winner in the first episode of May! CURIOUS TO KNOW WHO the women are who come to me? They… Want to know how to approach fitness in a God-centered way Desire to reshape their mind and heart attitude BECAUSE OF past beliefs, diets, participation in challenges, being surrounded by others who center their journey around how they look, etc. Want to take a faith-based approach in their health journey INSTEAD OF what they were taught (by personal trainers, etc.) whose main focus is on the outward appearance/aesthetics and/or working towards performance-based results Tired of diets, worldly tips and tricks, counting calories, and macros Want to give attention to spiritual heart matters versus physical matters. Outward appearances are no longer their priority. Feel spiritually bankrupt when it comes to fitness and food approaches ---------------- 3 QUESTIONS (WAYS) TO GET YOU OUT OF THE SELF-CONFIDENCE TRAP: Why do you seek self-confidence? How can it be used to glorify Jesus? Can you write down one way that God approves of your self-confidence desire? If you can’t think of any I encourage you to listen out for His truth about self-confidence. You can do this by tuning out the world’s noise (false promises) and search His promises in the Bible instead. What are some ways that we can overestimate ourselves when we have self-confidence? How can we be self-confident and still shine a light on Jesus? READY TO WORK WITH ME AS YOUR SPIRITUAL FITNESS COACH? I have ONE spot open for this month! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant! 13 We will not boast about things done outside our area of authority. We will boast only about what has happened within the boundaries of the work God has given us, which includes our working with you. Galatians 6:3-5 3 If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.4 Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. 5 For we are each responsible for our own conduct. Romans 12:1-3 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. ⭐️-----------------⭐️ WANT MORE EPISODES??

Making Peace with Your Inner Critic with Micaela Passeri “My vision is for everyone to fully express who they are.” -Micaela Passeri (20:04-20:11) We all have two different voices inside us and those voices have the power to either lift us up or pull us down. In this week's episode, Lia Dunlap shares the good ways to balance and maintain peace with your inner critic, with her special guest, Micaela Passeri, a fellow movement maker, and a brilliant leader. Part One of ‘Making Peace with Your Inner Critic with Micaela Passeri’ Micaela Passeri is an award-winning Emotional Intelligence and Business Performance Expert, International Speaker, Author and Founder of the Love You Revolution Emotional and Business Mastery training programs. With over 20 years of experience building 6 and 7 figure businesses, Micaela puts her business degree and many certifications to use by transforming high-achieving entrepreneurial women from stuck, stagnant, and unfulfilled to happy, liberated, hopeful, and healed. Her work when it comes to identifying and releasing the trapped emotions that prevent success and freedom has helped hundreds of clients boost self-confidence, tap into inner wisdom, increase productivity, banish anxiety and demotivation, cure business stagnation and monetize their business to 6 figures. She is trained in NLP, MER, and Emotion Code. “Life doesn't happen to you. Life happens through you.” - Lia Dunlap (20:51-20:55) Micaela finds alignment with her purpose and business genius through introspective questioning with her clients. She helps them discover what they love to do, what makes them happy, what their unique life purpose is, and how they can set themselves free from some of the unknown emotional baggage. Alignment is bringing them to feeling better about themselves and knowing what they're meant to bring into this world. Unfortunately, in her twenties, her father died in a horrible car accident in Bulgaria. She got tied to negative emotions like shame, guilt, failure, and betrayal. But along the way, she was able to make peace with it, heal it, and raised her emotional intelligence even more. It's not just about moving on from a bad past. It’s about profound healing that happens in the process. And if there's something huge that needs to be involved in making the healing process possible, that would be forgiveness and self-compassion. Stop beating yourself up too much and setting excessively high expectations. It’s about showing up with grace and doing things better next time if you ever fail at something. Part Two of ‘Making Peace with Your Inner Critic with Micaela Passeri’ There are four cornerstones of emotional intelligence. Self-awareness This is where you recognize your experience, then acknowledge the emotion that has taken over. Understanding This is where you turn your experience and get into the details of what's underneath it. Manage it. This is where self-management steps in after you acknowledge and understand your experience, instead of going deep down into the emotional rollercoaster. Use it for your benefit. This is where you get empowered. “You have the power to control your emotional intelligence.” - Lia Dunlap (21:01-21:08) If you want to get in contact with Micaela Passeri, the best way is to go to Facebook and look up her free private mentoring group called Emotional Money Mastery, where she conducts free coaching every week. If you have even just dabbled into this work or are curious, you can request to be added and you'll get to join the group there. There's a bunch of insights about quantum physics, emotional intelligence, and neurolinguistic programming manifestation, the universal laws, everything in there to give you the tools to start using your life on your own. Next Steps Have you realized you actually hate what you are currently doing? Do you wish you knew exactly what steps to take next to navigate the current crisis? We aren’t taught how to do relationships. In fact, there’s an unspoken belief that we should just know how to do relationships. In this week’s episode of the Dethroning Your Inner Critic Podcast, Joanna talks in-depth about how your Inner Critic can affect your relationships with others. Your Inner Critic can wreak havoc by trying to control how someone else acts towards you, and making them responsible towards how you feel. That’s a lot of power to give to someone else! In reality, your thoughts are the only true things that can affect your emotions. That’s why you need to check what your Inner Critic is saying about how others are acting. Here is this week’s reflection question: * Where is the vicious cycle where your Inner Critic causes you to take your love away, showing up in your life? Everybody has one, and it follows you around, constantly causing you to second guess your decisions. It creates an element of self-doubt, perpetuates anxious feelings, and generally make your life miserable if you allow it that kind of power. What is it...Your Inner Critic. In this episode, Joanne and I are talking about the importance of not only recognizing it, but also responding to your inner critic This is such an important topic because it affects so many aspects of daily life, from personal to professional, relationships of all types. Virtually any aspect of your life is an opportunity for your inner critic to gain a foothold.I wrote in a previous post on my coaching website about some strategies to deal with your inner critic, and in this podcast episode we take that post a step further and offer more thoughts and strategies that you can use to take back your power from that voice in your head that causes you to doubt yourself and your abilities. What does it mean to be in charge of your inner critic? How can giving your inner critic a name, be helpful and empowering? How your inner critic uses your past against, especially when it comes to struggles or perceived failures? How can you turn down the volume on your inner critic? What does that mean? How can separating yourself from your inner critic be helpful and how do you do it?Remember, your inner critic is not your friend, it does not have your best interests at heart. It's there to make you believe that your best is not good enough, to perpetuate anxiety and unrest in your life, to steal your joy and contentment, and to bring self-doubt to the forefront of virtually every thought you have. You can take back that power, keep your inner critic in check, and live life knowing that your past or present circumstances are not the end all be all definition of who you are. Please consider sharing this episode with someone who might benefit from it, and don't forget to leave us a review on your favorite podcasting app. We would sure appreciate it.Matthew Pappas, CLC, MPNLP & Joanne Cipressi, CHt, CNLPIf you'd like to be a guest on a future episode or have a topic for us to talk about, feel free to contact us. Ep. 19 Let Go of Your Inner Critic - http://GlamBoss.org
Do you have that mean voice in your head that tells you things you would never even say to someone else? We're talking about your inner critic and we're pretty certain we all have one. In this episode, we're talking to Danielle Krysa, writer/curator behind the contemporary art site, The Jealous Curator and author of Your Inner Critic is a Big Jerk. We're chatting about how to identify your inner critic and not let it stop you from doing the things you want to do. Danielle gives us some great and hilarious strategies for getting around the excuses that we make because our inner critic is trying to keep us from doing something. She also gives us some food for thought about why it can be hard to share things we create with those closest to us and what you can do about it.
Your Inner Critic is a Big Jerk: And Other Truths About Being Creative (Chronicle Books) This book is duct tape for the mouth of every artist's inner critic. Silencing that stifling voice once and for all, this salve for creatives introduces ten truths they must face in order to defeat self-doubt. Each encouraging chapter deconstructs a pivotal moment on the path to success fear of the blank page, the dangers of jealousy, sharing work with others and explains how to navigate roadblock. Packed with helpful anecdotes, thoughts from successful creatives, and practical exercises gleaned from Danielle Krysa's years of working with professional and aspiring artists plus riotously apt illustrations from art world darling Martha Rich this book arms readers with the most essential tool for their toolbox: the confidence they need to get down to business and make good work. Danielle Krysa has a BFA in Fine Arts, and a post-grad in graphic design. She is the writer/curator behind the contemporary art site, The Jealous Curator. In 2014 she published two books, both with Chronicle Books, titled Creative Block and Collage. Her third book, Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk was released in October 2016. Danielle has also had the great pleasure of speaking at TEDx PIXAR, Creative Mornings, CreativeLive, Altitude Summit, and was interviewed for several video segments on Oprah.com. Martha Rich is a Philadelphia-based artist working in both the commercial and fine art fields. Drawing, painting, using words, while being absurd and funny, and having a penchant for painting food is what she does.
When we quit drinking, we have a void to fill, but where do we start if we think we aren't creative? Tammi and Sondra dive into this topic starting with the permission slip: it's okay to call yourself an artist, maker, writer. They cover many ideas to get you started, places for inspiration, jumping off points like Austin Kleon's book, Steal Like An Artist or Lisa Congdon's Creative Bug drawing classes. “Sobriety delivers what alcohol promised.” We get to actually be the person in sobriety that wanted to be when we were drinking. Don't compare your beginnings to someone else's finished product, take the leap. The ladies share their top three tools in their recovery-slash-creativity toolboxes for the week: Sondra's 3 fave things: Instagram recommendations: @soberbia, @thesoberhipster and @ekkarecovery, thrifting as therapy, and Rob Bell's podcasts ep. #146 and #148 and his FB Live Easter Day Resurrection Sermon. Tammi's 3 fave things: Your Inner Critic is a Big Jerk by Danielle Krysa, Quit That! App, and the Chatbooks Instagram subscription series.
Known as the superego or the judge, our inner critic is the voice in our heads that is hypercritical of everything we do and of who we are. The inner critic shames us and debilitates us. How do we become free of the inner critic? The answer is mindfulness, awareness, compassion, and practice. Mark Coleman, a meditation teacher and therapist, has written a book to help us become free of our inner critic, "Make Peace With Your Mind: How Mindfulness and Compassion Can Free You from Your Inner Critic." One of the tools is to be lighthearted, to mock the critic. You will enjoy this conversation and find skills and methods to go easier on yourself and to treat yourself (and others) with compassion as opposed to judgment.
