A good amount of institutions have capitulated and complied in recent months with many of the Trump administration's actions that far overstep executive authority. At the same time, we've seen a few places where there has been opposition and resistance to tactics employed by the Trump 2.0 regime. Some of the most pushback has come from democratically elected attorneys general. Our guest this week points out that Trump “can't override laws with sharpies” and that checks and balances still exist. Letitia James is the attorney general for the state of New York. She joins WITHpod to discuss why she says Trump is on a “revenge tour,” whether or not she feels the rule of law will prevail as we move forward from the first 100 days and more. And a BIG thank you to all of our WITHpod fans for voting for us to win a People's Voice Webby Award in the category of Best Interview or Talk Show. We truly appreciate your support.ICYMI, WITHpod full episodes are now on YouTube. You can watch by visiting msnbc.com/withpod.

Kerrie describes her relationship in the past and present with Jerry Lee's ex wife and cousin Myra. Kerrie responds to people who thought Jerry Lee was responsible for the death of his former wife Shawn and what was going through her mind marrying him just a few months later. She also talks about the video that Jerry Lee says he got away with murder as she tells him to "shut his mouth," and the circumstances surrounding that comment. In this episode, we had the awesome privilege of articulating with Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. We really needed his voice in response to the recent backlash to the anti-racist curriculum many of our independent schools are instituting in alignment with their mission statements and DEIB commitments. What we value about Dr. Moore's voice is that he gives the facts straight and no chaser. However, his passion for Black students and their excellence is palpable. You will hear us discuss curriculum, teaching, and our student's wellbeing through an anti-racist lens. We also discuss what anti-racism is and is not. We tried to keep in under 45 minutes, ya'll, but we needed the next ten or so minutes to find joy! This episode was recorded before the mass shooting in Los Angeles. We dedicate this episode and stand in solidarity with our AAPI brothers and sisters too! Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. has pursued and achieved success in academia, business, diversity, leadership, and community service. In 1996, he started America & MOORE, LLC to provide comprehensive diversity, privilege, and leadership training/workshops. Dr. Moore is recognized as one of the nation's top speakers and educators. His interview with Wisconsin Public Radio won the 2015 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association's Best Interview in Medium Market Radio, 1st Place, and he is featured in the film “I'm not Racist….Am I?” Dr. Moore is the Founder/Program Director for the White Privilege Conference (WPC). In 2014 Dr. Moore founded The Privilege Institute (TPI) which engages people in research, education, action and leadership through workshops, conferences, publications and strategic partnerships and relationships. He is co-founder of the on-line journal Understanding and Dismantling Privilege, co-editor of Everyday White People Confront Racial and Social Injustice: 15 Stories, The Guide for White Women who Teach Black Boys,The Diversity Consultant Cookbook: Preparing for the Challenge (2019), Teaching Beautiful Brilliant Black Girls (forthcoming, 2021) and Lil' e - The Big Misunderstanding (2020). When we started behind the podcast part of our excitement was getting the story behind some of the biggest podcasts around, but what really piqued our interest was talking to the smaller, independent podcast creators. There are none better than the team behind - In My Country - Adam Wood and Pia Perversi-Burchall. We hear a lot about refugees & asylum seekers, but not often do we hear from the people themselves. In My Country tells these stories so effectively that they won Best Interview at the 2020 Australian Podcast Awards for their episode Alyas which we recommend as a great place to jump into the series. This week Cariad talks to actress Olivia Williams (Sixth Sense, Dolls House, An Education) about her Dad who died six years ago. November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month and Olivia was recently diagnosed with a cancer in her pancreas. Although her cancer wasn't officially pancreatic cancer, there are so few survivors of PC that Pancreatic Cancer UK have asked her to talk about her experience to raise awareness of the disease. As ever they talk grief, morgues + Bonne Maman jars.Demand Survival Now is PCUK's new campaign for pancreatic cancer awareness month, if you head to www.demandsurvivalnow.org.uk you can sign and spread the word on social media. Despite huge progress in the diagnosis and treatment in recent decades, pancreatic cancer remains the deadliest common cancer. It is 8 times more deadly than other common cancers like prostate, breast or bowel cancer. There are no screening programmes or early detection tests and vague symptoms – such as back pain, indigestion or weight loss – mean tragically pancreatic cancer is detected too late to save lives. 1 in 4 people die within a month of diagnosis. We need Governments to recognise pancreatic cancer as an emergency and act, if we are to transform survival.
