This week on Nintendo Pow BlockThis week on Nintendo Pow Block, Edward Varnell and Corey Dirrig dive into a massive week of Nintendo and gaming news. The show kicks off with the surprise Nintendo Direct for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, featuring a brand-new trailer introduced by Miyamoto and Illumination's Chris Meledandri—plus a hilarious cameo from Jack Black. We also got big casting confirmations, with Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr. The crew also breaks down the unexpected reveal that Pokémon Pokopia will launch on a Game-Key Card for Switch 2, marking The Pokémon Company's first GKC title. This caused a massive conversation from physical game fans, wondering if Nintendo is going back on their word on all first party games will be on full cartridges. In another social media announcement, LEGO and Nintendo showed off their second LEGO Zelda set, coming in 2026 and featuring Link battling Ganon from what looks like the end of Ocarina of Time-inspired scene.Beyond Nintendo, the guys dig into Valve's newly revealed Steam Box, Steam Controller, and Steam Frame, the next evolution of their gaming hardware ecosystem. They discuss how these new devices integrate with the Steam Deck, how Valve's hardware lineup will stack up against what Nintendo is doing with Switch 2, and how it compares to Microsoft's current "Play Anywhere" strategy.Plus, Atari opened pre-orders for RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition, getting a physical Switch release via Limited Run Games in March 2026. And to wrap things up, they react to the leaked footage from the upcoming Zelda movie, showing Zelda and Impa on horseback in New Zealand. A ship without a captain can drift — but what happens when someone new quietly takes the helm? In this episode, Sarah investigates how IntSAR evolved through three distinct lifespans: its founding as a small charitable company, its transformation under Peter Cowell's leadership, and its sleek modern relaunch years later. Each version carries the same crest, motto, and mission — but behind the surface lies a changing cast of characters and unanswered questions. From archived websites and corporate filings to interviews with those once involved, The BADmiral explores how legitimacy can be borrowed, how old structures can hide new intentions, and how the line between purpose and pretense can blur at sea. Peter Cowell was contacted for comment during the production of this series. At the time of publication, no response has been received. All accounts and opinions in this series are those of the participants, based on their own experiences. Allegations are always attributed to their sources. The story is told in the public interest to examine how trust, belief, and ambition can intertwine.

Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From August 2025. Today's 2 topics: - The Trappist-1 planetary system located about 40 light years away in the constellation of Aquarius consists of a small red dwarf star and 7 Earth sized planets. By carefully studying changes in the planet's transit timings and the shape of the dip in the host star's brightness as each planet transits across it, astronomers have been able to measure the orbital period, radius, and approximate mass for each of the 7 planets.   - Recently my Catalina Sky Survey teammate Richard Kowalski discovered 2017 MB1, a 0.4 mile diameter asteroid with the Catalina Sky Survey Schmidt telescope on Mt. Bigelow, AZ. Two hours and 11 minutes later it came into a set images I obtained with the 60 inch telescope on Mt. Lemmon, AZ. After I reported it, the new object was tracked by telescopes in Arizona, New Zealand, Slovenia, Kansas, Australia, Hungary, France, and Brazil.   We've added a new way to donate to 365 Days of Astronomy to support editing, hosting, and production costs.  Just visit: https://www.patreon.com/365DaysOfAstronomy and donate as much as you can! Last week saw the release of the Global Tobacco Interference Index. In it, Aotearoa ranked 53rd in the world - a whopping 52 places down from two years ago. This ranking two years ago was reflective of our robust anti-smoking laws - since the current coalition government has repealed them, however, that reputation has come seriously into question. These rankings now serve as a warning about the role that the tobacco industry plays in health policy, and New Zealand's failure to manage smoking and tobacco lobbying. Monday Wire Producer Alex spoke to Professor of Public Health at the University of Auckland, Chris Bullen, about the ranking, Tobacco influence in the government, and what it says about Smoking in New Zealand as a whole.

Big win for NZ Inc. and a lesson for everyone who doesn't understand tariffs. Donald Trump has cut tariffs on beef and the beneficiaries are largely New Zealand, Australia and Brazil. Brazil has had a 50% tariff so they will be thrilled. We are at 15% and it's 10% for Australia. We may not benefit as much but given we are “balling”, as they say anyway, anything that gives us a chance to sell more has got to be welcome. The latest figures show that we have had a fall off in volumes of beef to the U.S. What's helping us is the value. Volume is one thing, value is another. If the value offsets the volume you are still winning. Of course if the world only understood the true value of a tariff-free environment we would all be better off. But that debate seems, for now, to be losing ground globally as more and more economies retrench. Anyway, the reason Trump moved is because he is in trouble. He is in trouble on a lot of things and unless the tide turns this time next year in the midterms it's all going to come home to roost, and the Republicans will lose their ascendency, and if that happens, they will turn on the president and the latter part of the president's term will be what they call a "lame duck". In some respects it's been a surprise that his line of abstract economics has lasted so long. There is nothing particularly complex about tariffs, and to be fair to Trump, if China charges you 30% on something then a reciprocal tariff is not out of order. But the “slap them all” approach he used on a place like New Zealand and Australia, not to mention Switzerland that only just got sorted over the weekend, was bizarre, if not completely nuts. All that crap about importers and countries paying tariffs was never real and as Americans lined up at the butchers to pay more for New Zealand beef they got angry, and they got angry to the point trump has had to acquiesce So the tariffs fall and places like NZ Inc. cash in. It's good to be on the right side of the argument. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Trade Minister's cautiously welcoming a rollback of US tariffs on food imports including New Zealand beef, offal and kiwifruit. US President Donald Trump's signed an executive order reducing the tariffs. The affected New Zealand products represent around 25 per cent of our exports to the United States, worth more than two billion dollars annually. Trade Minister Todd McClay told Mike Hosking that it's still a very uncertain time for Kiwi exporters. He says he's concerned about the changing nature in the White House and even though it's been reduced, the tariffs could be brought back.
