It's an extreme confidence versus extreme caution episode. Giddyup!Dr. Caitlin Fang returns to the SuperShow, joining TommyB & SFD to discuss fear & anxiety, pride, and the line between confidence and hubris. From counting your winnings before the season starts, to being prepared for a rainy day rather than installing a skylight and saying “bring it on!” Plus, Dr. Cailtin's thoughts on a massive four-division, steal-heavy league and the primal urge to come out throwing haymakers in this complicated 10-round dynasty fight. All that and more, on this week's over-adrenalized episode! We go from JoJo Siwa to recycling to BBL Drizzy and don't worry if you're not up to speed on all of those things. Cailtin has a very important question on behalf of a friend about sleeping with someone you're paying (for something else). Brodie reads a poem she wrote about boys when she was 12 and it explains a lot... Tegan leaves us with a gem of a quote we all needed this week.
Today I'm honored to introduce you all to: rape survivor and whistleblower, certified phlebotomist and medical assistant, photographer, music and concert lover, dog and pittie partitionist, artist, cannabis connoisseur, and survivor advocate: Caitlin.I met Caitlin on Twitter recently and was instantly in awe of her. In a world where it is frightening and risky to speak your truth aloud and publicly, Caitlin struck me in her convictions of pressing forward with exposing her abuse, abuser, and what she's experienced and witness first-hand - and it's very difficult to not feel a sense of deep admiration for her. In Caitlin's freshman year of high school, around the time of January 2011, she was approached by a man named Kevin Ahern online on Facebook after seeing him pop-up as a mutual friend. From that point on, heavy grooming began and after relentless requests to meet with her, Cailtin eventually gave in. She met with Kevin Ahern two times, and both times she was raped. After the second time there was severe pain, and Caitlin refrained from seeing him again despite his relentless text messages and phone calls. She tried to move on and avoid what happened by keeping it a secret. And boy, was she good at keeping a secret. After bottling up her emotions for so long, and hiding what happened, she experienced a mental breakdown which included psychosis. Despite the terror she was facing with delusions and hallucinations at times, she still went and reported her rape to law enforcement. For the first time in her life, she was forced to deal with what happened to her. Investigators would come to her house and question or discuss things with her, and soon her case was picked up by a District Attorney. Like most rape cases, it dragged on for a few years until in 2018 when trial commenced. Caitlin had to testify, and the outcome concluded in victory with 7 guilty counts of sexual offenses for the verdict. There was only one problem though.Kevin Ahern, was missing and had absconded. He skipped out on bail. The turmoil and trauma Caitlin was facing took time to learn how to deal with. Miraculously, she has not had psychosis or psychosis related symptoms since 2018 - for six years now which she credits to taking care of her mental health. The combination of trauma and mental health paved the way for crazy experiences in Los Angeles as an adult. Having dealt with everything from the music industry, to the healthcare industry, Caitlin has a lot to say about the things she has dealt with in her life and the secrets she thinks should come to light as well.CONNECT WITH CAITLIN: YouTube: @seizonsha1 Twitter: (57)caitlin (@seizonsha1) | TikTokLinkTree: seizonsha1 | Twitter, Instagram, TikTok | LinktreeGoFundMe: Fundraiser by Caitlin Shores : Find Kevin Ahern and Help His Victim Heal (gofundme.com)IG: @caitiecross • Instagram photos and videosTikTok: (57)caitlin (@seizonsha1) | TikTokCONNECT WITH EMMA & THE IMAGINATION:Emma's Substack: (1) Emma's Substack | Emma Katherine | SubstackEMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com All links: Emma Katherine on Direct.meBUY ME A COFFEE: Emma Katherine is Artist (buymeacoffee.com)Support the Show.

The one where you're descendant from escaped enslaved Africans who joined forces with the Seminoles in the 1700s Emma and Nicole speak to Caitlin Bellah, a photographer and artist who shares the story of her linage and how she was inspired to investigate it by this very podcast. She is a descendant of the Freedmen who are mostly blood descendants of the Seminole people, free Africans, and escaped former enslaved people who allied with Seminole groups in Spanish Florida in the 1700s. Many have Seminole lineage, but due to the stigma of having mixed origin, they have often been categorised as former slaves or freedmen in the past. Cailtin shares the investigation into her past and how this drives her art and sense of self, but also the challenges personally and professionally. Did you have "morning sickness" during your pregnancy? Did you ever feel like maybe it was a bit more than just "morning sickness"? Were you gaslit about how hard that period was, or told to drink ginger and get on with it? In line with HG awareness day which is the 15th of May 2023, we interviewed the amazing and hilarious Caitlin Kay-Smith, Founder of Hyperemesis Australia. Caitlin was a HG sufferer herself and started this incredible organisation to raise awareness and offer support to anyone else with HG or severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Caitlin gives some amazing tips on how to manage HG, how to identify it, tools to get the right care from your medical providers and and how to support someone who is experiencing HG or severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Caitlin and Emma give such a genuine insight into how difficult it can be having HG during pregnancy, and some of the challenges HG suffers usually go through including being gaslit or told their symptoms are just "morning sickness". This is such a great listen and we hope it will make sufferers of HG feel more seen and supported. Hyper-local is what she calls it. We had a chat with her about the importance of sustainable food choices, how creativity can flourish in this vagabond approach to serving food and how she only takes on interesting jobs. Hey Everyone! Here is the last of our pre-recorded episodes before we are back with Season Two!! And it is Episode 32, not 31 as AJ said repeatedly in the beginning of the Episode. Also, there is a squeaky chair. Sorry. On this weeks episode we have a special guest, AJ's daughter Caitlin Arend! Caitlin is an actor, singer, cosplayer, and and owner of All Aglow Parties and Events in Southern California. Caitlin has a BA in Theater Arts, and many years of experience in theater, both on the stage and behind the scenes building sets and as backstage crew. She worked for Disneyland for a few years, and was "friends with" many characters like Chip and Dale, Jessie the Cowgirl from Toy Story and Judy Hopps. You can find Caitlin online in places like Instagram and TikTok. On today's episode, Caitlin is putting her Theater training to work by helping us evaluate Audiobook narrators! Several shows back, we mentioned that although most of us know that the "In Death" audiobooks are narrated by the amazing Susan Ericksen, that wasn't always the case. The first narrator for this series was Christine McMurdo Wallis. These two narrators have vastly different styles, and so we thought it would be fun to do a show where we compare and contrast the two. Caitlin is an interesting person to help us with this because it may surprise some people to learn that Caitlin has never read the "In Death" series, and knows very little about it beyond the fact that her mom has been very active in this fandom for the better part of 20 years. So, she is evaluating these recordings blind. So what we did for this Episode was make clips from two separate scenes from "Naked in Death." We have two 1 minute clips, one from Ericksen and one from McMurdo-Wallis, for each scene. Then we give our thoughts for each clip. In a weird twist of fate, Cailtin decided she liked the reading from McMurdo-Wallis more than Ericksen. She finds McMurdo-Wallis' voice more soothing. She did like Ericksen's reading of Feeney more than that from McMurdo-Wallis, because Ericksen reads Feeney with a very obvious New York accent, whereas there was no accent whatsoever for McMurdo-Wallis. Like Jen, Caitlin prefers McMurdo-Wallis' more subtle Irish accent for Roarke. Jen agrees with Caitlin on all of it. She likes McMurdo-Wallis' less "Lucky Charmsy" Roarke voice, but does prefer Ericksen's Eve. Tara really likes McMurdo-Wallis, but not for this series. She feels the pacing for the McMurdo-Wallis recordings are too slow. AJ feels like McMurdo-Wallis' Eve was just way too low key and passive, much prefering the more snappy, sarcasic Eve voice. AJ also prefers the more "Irish-y" Roarke voice and more "New Yorky" Feeney voice from Ericksen. Also, AJ feels Susan Ericksen puts more emotion into her reading. There is way more intensity in the second scene for Ericksen, and it seems more appropriate. Pacing and intensity are key with this series, and we all agreed that the faster pace (and at times more intense) of Ericksen's narrating works better for a futuristic murder mystery series set in New York. Books like these really do need faster paced narration. Then Caitlin and Jen go off fangirling a bit about Brenda Song. The second part of the Podcast is us testing out our fan interview questions on Caitlin, and she's a very good sport and answers them all. Here's what Caitlin is reading right now: Here are some of the podcasts that Caitlin is listening to: Here are some of the music that some people would be surprised that Caitlin has on her playlist:

Today we are joined by the @prenatalnutritionist, Ryann Kipping! Ryann is a clinically trained Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Certified Lactation Educator, and author of the Feel Good Pregnancy Cookbook. She is the founder of the @prenatalnutritionist, a private practice which focuses on preparing women for pregnancy and conquering nutrition during and after pregnancy. She is also the founder of the Prenatal Nutrition Library, an online community for evidenced based nutrition and information before and during pregnancy. We first discuss how someone should shift their focus with regards to nutrition when they go from TTC to now being pregnant. Ryann explains working with professionals like Sophia and Caitlin can set you up for a great foundation prior to becoming pregnant. She discusses how the initial shock of being pregnant drives curiosity for whether or not there are certain foods that you were regularly eating before that are now safe or not. Ryann explains overall, nutrition for TTC and pregnancy are the same. You should be making sure you are still eating well-balanced, well-rounded meals. We then jump into combating morning sickness and nausea during pregnancy. While normally you might be eating all the greens and eating all the protein prior to pregnancy, when nausea hits at 7 or 8 weeks into your third trimester, Ryann explains how to deal with this. She explains that the nutrition you fueled yourself with prior to becoming pregnant then becomes what your body relies on when you are pregnant and might not be able to stomach any food due to nausea. Ryann also explains some women can’t even get down their prenatal vitamins either, so she encourages women to do the best they can, and that “some calories are better than no calories.” So - if you can only eat plain noodles, that is better than not eating anything! If you know that every day at 3pm your nausea hits, then you can plan for it by maximizing your breakfast and lunch nutrition. When you are feeling bad around dinner time, you will know that you got in a lot of nutrients earlier in the day. Ryann explains blood sugar management is also a major key in combating nausea. Having an empty stomach increases nausea, so it’s important to prevent huge blood sugar spikes throughout your day. Eating small frequent meals can help with this, as well as eating fat or protein with carbs. You can also try eating some carbs first to get your palette ready, and then try to stomach some protein after you get the carbs down. Caitlin shares that when she was pregnant and would wake up in the middle of the night, she would keep a small protein-rich snack on her nightstand to snack on for blood sugar balance. Sophia reminds listeners that this doesn’t have to be a super hearty protein-rich food; it can be peanut butter, string cheese, or cottage cheese. Ryann shares that one of her clients only wanted cereal for dinner, so she chose a healthier cereal option, used whole milk, and added a scoop of collagen to make it a more nutritious choice. Ryann also explains that she recommends full fat dairy for pregnancy, even though eating low-fat dairy has often been engraved in our minds that it’s superior to full fat. In pregnancy, your need for fat soluble vitamins increases, so without enough of the fat, your body can’t absorb the vitamins (A, D, E, K). Sophia and Cailtin share that the patients with PCOS that they work with are caught in the middle because their doctors tell them to lose weight, yet now they are told they should be eating full fat dairy, and they ultimately end up worried that they will gain weight. Ryann debunks the myth that you will not suddenly gain more weight eating full fat dairy. Ryann discusses common myths that often ruminate around what types of foods to avoid during pregnancy. One common myth is that you should avoid fish due to having too much mercury, when in fact, it’s so important to eat fish, specifically fatty fish, during pregnancy. She explains the benefits of eating fish far outweigh the risks, and the need for DHA is especially important during the third trimester. Ryann advises to avoid consuming shellfish raw. Her prescription of fish oil varies for clients; those who rarely eat fish could benefit from a DHA supplement whereas someone who might’ve grown up eating a lot of fish might not need it. Her favorite brands she recommends are Nordic Naturals and Carlson. We also discuss ways for women who have had multiple miscarriages to have more insight on how to prevent future pregnancy trouble. Ryann explains it’s extremely important to make sure your thyroid is healthy, and getting your thyroid levels checked can be the first step to determine this. The biggest component to getting through your first trimester, to Ryann, is prioritizing your mental health over any specific food. Her number one priority is to make sure her clients’ minds feel at ease about what they’re eating so that they can optimize the way they feel throughout their first trimester instead of worrying about specific foods to avoid. Speaking of foods to avoid - Ryann advises that raw shellfish and romaine lettuce are the two biggest foods to avoid during pregnancy. She emphasizes to wash your produce because produce in general often ends up on the foodborne outbreak list. News flash - if you are craving a sandwich... eat that deli meat, girl! You have such a less chance of getting sick from that pasteurized brie cheese and freshly sliced deli meat than you do eating something like raw shellfish or unwashed romaine lettuce. Ryann mentions veggie trays and fruit trays are also common foods you should avoid, since you have no idea how long they have been sitting out and/or what pathogens are growing on them. So - your doctor prescribed you a certain prenatal, and your dietitian prescribed you a different one...now what? We emphasize that Ryann is a pregnancy nutrition EXPERT, and we are fertility nutrition EXPERTS, and doctors specialize in a different purpose than nutrition and vitamins. Just because a prenatal says “Check with your doctor before consuming,” doesn’t mean you have to listen to it. Remember to listen to the experts in their field - we would never recommend you go to a dietitian for a C-section. Ryann explains you have to see past some companies' brilliant marketing and make sure they are third party tested to ensure you’re getting a quality supplement. Lastly, we discuss how to prevent ways to avoid gestational hypertension and/or preeclampsia. Although these are very complex topics, Ryann discusses the importance of including glycine, a conditionally-essential amino acid, in your diet (basically, increasing protein intake). She also talks about ways to lower inflammation by increasing Omega-3 fatty acids and decreasing intake of Omega-6 fatty acids in your diet. These two factors can help decrease your chances for developing gestational hypertension. If you’d like to see more of Ryann, be sure to follow her on Instagram at @prenatalnutritionist or join her Prenatal Nutrition Library!

Born into The United States' last days of slavery, Ida B. Wells was raised to fight. The daughter of two politically active entrepreneurs, she wanted to raise herself and her siblings into the middle class. But while emancipation may have passed into law, new structural barriers emerged to keep women like Wells out - out of the economy, out of the political system, and out of first class train carriages. When a conductor tried to force Wells into the smoking car on a ride from Memphis to Nashville, Wells took a stand. The event launched a writing and activist career that would see her tackle some of the greatest injustices of her age - and ours. Her reports, Southern Horrors and The Red Record, laid bare the horror of lynchings in the South and she would go on to found a number of Civil Rights organisations - some of which survive today. She was also a suffragist unafraid to call out the movement for its lack of Black representation - an intersectional feminist well before her time!DuRocher, Kristina. Ida B. In today’s episode, I speak with the incredibly knowledgeable Caitlin Day, mum of one and a qualified women's, men's and pelvic health physio. She goes by The Vagina Physio on Instagram so that says it all really - we talk about vaginas.. a lot. But we also go over c-section recovery, sex after birth, returning to exercise and above all else, what ideal postnatal recovery looks like. Therefore, we also cover what lies outside of that as pelvic floor issues, such as prolapse, vaginal tightness, abdominal separation, and discomfort during sex. We go into detail about pessaries too. You’ll quickly discover from our chat that despite it often being regarded as such, leakage or pain 'down there' doesn’t have to be your new normal, but it is really common. My hope for anyone listening to this conversation is that if you feel like something’s not right ‘down there’ that my chat with Caitlin makes you feel at ease and empowered to take your pelvic health into your own hands and consult a physio. I’m 12 months postpartum and I’ve booked in to see Caitlin myself, so even if you, like me, don’t think you have any issues, consider this permission (not that you really need it but sometimes it’s nice to be reminded) to put yourself first and get your pelvic floor checked by a professional. This episode is not sponsored, I reached out to Caitlin myself. If you'd like to book in for a postpartum pelvic health consultation with her, visit www.innercorephysio.co.nz and keep an eye out on Instagram to hear when Cailtin's new physio and pilates studio, Unity Studios will be open. Thanks so much, Caitlin!Follow Caitlin Day of The Vagina Physio on Instagram. Around Grandfather Fire - Episode 29 Copyright 2019 -- Jim and Cailtin interview the remarkable Rhonda Smith about her new book The Whole Method, shadow work and more! Rhonda Smith was born and raised in picturesque Northern California. She spends most of her time between the San Francisco Bay area and the Sierra Nevada mountains with her majestic little wiener dog, Saylor Love. Rhonda shares her message on stage, as well as through podcasting, coaching, and her work with sacred plant medicine. She uses all of these modalities to support people in remembering the truth about who they are. Rhonda believes that only when we embrace the darkest parts of ourselves, do we learn the lessons that lead to remembering and living our deepest truth. The greatest work of our lives is being willing to stand naked with all of our masks removed. The current state of our planet (living earth) and humanity is a catalyst to understand the way we've been living isn't working! This was the spark that ignited Rhonda's mission. Her newest company, "The Expanded Hueman," is set up to answer the question "What comes next after personal development?" It's an invitation for us all to stop the madness of endlessly seeking outside ourselves. Her book, The Whole Method, is about remembering how to journey back into ourselves and once there, discover everything we need. theexpandedhueman.com/truth -- Opening voice work Kai Belcher Music “Ophelia” by Les Hayden, provided by the Free Music Archive and used under Creative Commons licenses: freemusicarchive.org/music/Les_Hayden/Proverbs/Les_Hayden_-_Proverbs_-_05_Ophelia_1785 -- Find us on FaceBook Around Grandfather Fire -- Sareth Odinsson sarenth.wordpress.com Twitter: @Sarenth -- Jim Two Snakes anchorandfoxconsulting.com/jim-two-snakes/ Twitter: @JamesAtTheOwl Instagram: @jim_two_snakes FaceBook: www.facebook.com/jimtwosnakes/ -- Caitlin Storm Breaker FaceBook: www.facebook.com/caitlin.terry.5099 stormpaqo.home.blog -- #Shaman #SarenthOdinsson #JimTwoSnakes #CaitlinStormBreaker #ShadowWork #BecomingWhole #Leadership #iTunes #Spotify #Podcast #follow #love #growth #spirituality #Spiritual #wellbeing #lifecoach --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/around-grandfather-fire/message

Well he's finally here, Sherluck Wells makes his epic debut, Caitlin and Ralph team up to dive deeper into Cailtin's frostys past and Cisco is on the chopping block of Meta's to go for Cicada. Tune into the discussion with hosts Drew Jones, Chauncey Robinson, Jaimie Alexander and Zach Silverman. Flash is based upon characters published by DC Comics where through a freak accident scientist Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive. After witnessing his mother's (Michelle Harrison) supernatural murder and his father's (John Wesley Shipp) wrongful conviction for the crime, Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) is taken in by Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) and his family. Allen becomes a brilliant but socially awkward crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department. His obsession with his tragic past causes him to become an outcast among his peers; he investigates cold cases, paranormal occurrences, and cutting-edge scientific advancements that may shed light on his mother's murder. No one believes his description of the crime—that a ball of lightning with the face of a man invaded their home that night—and Allen is fiercely driven to vindicate himself and to clear his father's name. Fourteen years after his mother's death, an advanced particle accelerator malfunctions during its public unveiling, bathing the city center with a previously unknown form of radiation during a severe thunderstorm. Allen is struck by lightning from the storm and doused with chemicals in his lab. Awakening after a nine-month coma, he discovers he has the ability to move at superhuman speeds. Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), the disgraced designer of the failed particle accelerator, describes Barry's special nature as "metahuman"; Allen soon discovers that he is not the only one who was changed by the radiation. Allen vows to use his gifts to protect Central City from the escalating violence of metahuman criminals. He is aided by a few close friends and associates who guard his secrets. Six months after the events of the first season, after a singularity event, the Flash is recognized as Central City's hero. Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears), the Flash from a parallel universe, visits Barry and warns him another speedster named Zoom (also portrayed by Sears and voiced by Tony Todd) is trying to eliminate everyone connected to the Speed Force throughout themultiverse. Jay, and later Harrison Wells' parallel universe counterpart, work to help Barry and his friends stop Zoom. Joe and his daughter, Iris (Candice Patton), struggle with their shared painful past related to their family, especially after the arrival of Iris's brother Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale), whom Francine West (Vanessa A. Williams) gave birth to shortly after abandoning her family. Time Codes: 00:00:24 - Introduction 00:02:34 - Setup of interview 00:04:37 - Interview with Sean Lewis and Caitlin Yarsky 01:03:03 - Wrap up 01:03:44 - Contact us In November of last year readers saw the first issue of what was a brand-new series from Image Comics, Coyotes. It was the latest creation from writer Sean Lewis, who had authored other Image series including The Few and Saints, as well as writing recent titles for Aftershock such as Betrothed and Clankillers. For Coyotes, Sean chose as his illustrator a relative newcomer to comics, Caitlin Yarsky. While this is the first ongoing series where she provides all of the interior art, Caitlin's work is a standout component and, in many ways, primarily defines the tone and sheer impact of Coyotes. As revealed in the first narrative arc, collected as a trade earlier this spring, Coyotesis about a young girl, name Red, who lives in a southwest border region fighting against a legion of wolves who prey upon women. She's aided in her fight by the Victorias, an all-female society empowered by an earth goddess and united to fight against the masculinist lycanthropes. The series has a feel of a grand mythology, and it touches upon a variety of topics, including female empowerment, coming of age, and socio-industrial exploitation. In the first issue of the second narrative arc, there is quite a bit of backstory and context to the world Lewis and Yarsky establish in the first four issues, including a history of the Four Grannies of the Earth, the earth goddess Gaia, and the transformative nature of the lycanthropes. In this interview, Derek talks with Cailtin and Sean about their collaborative process, where they are in their story, and what plans they have for the series as a whole.

Twenty-five years ago Buzz Bissinger went in search of the Friday night lights – to chronicle the high school football ritual that can bring together a small American town. The result of this journey that took him to Odessa, Texas became the New York Times bestseller “Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream”, a book that would later be adapted into both a movie and TV show of the same name. The book shows America’s love of football while exposing its racism and greed, which is just as prevalent today but often overlooked. Since then Bissinger has not shied away from controversial subjects, including his own life. He has written about his struggle as a shopaholic which has included spending over $500,000 on high-fashion clothing in just two years, as well as his love of wearing women’s clothing. In his very touching book “Father’s Day: Across America with an Unusual Dad and His Extraordinary Son” he explores his relationship with his son Zach, who is savant challenged by serious intellectual deficits, as they take a road trip across the U.S.. As a contributor for Vanity Fair he has written very revealing profiles - of the disgraced journalist Stephen Glass, post scandal Tiger Woods, Oscar nominated Bradley Cooper and maybe his most memorable - Caitlyn Jenner in which he chronicles “the fears and doubts, love and courage, and tensions and traumas involved in the transition”.
