Affordable Interior Design presents Big Design, Small Budget
In this episode of the Uploft Interior Design Podcast, I shared what's been happening in both my professional and personal life, from feeling disappointed by the latest season of America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders to searching for new shows to watch during the reality TV lull. I talked about the challenges of juggling multiple client presentations, including the frustrations of sourcing commercial furniture and balancing bold design ideas with client expectations. I also reflected on training a talented new designer and answered several of her thoughtful questions about communicating effectively with clients, emphasizing my favorite approach of asking them to "tell me more" to better understand their needs. Finally, I shared a couple of funny stories about putting my foot in my mouth with clients, reminding myself—and other designers—that when an idea doesn't resonate, the best thing to do is pivot gracefully and focus on creating solutions that truly work for the client. As a woman who deeply cares about women's rights, I am obsessed with a show that is totally problematic. America's Sweethearts Season 3 just dropped on Netflix. I grabbed fellow DCC-obsessed Mara Davis, an Atlanta radio legend who has been watching the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders since the 1970s, sat through all 17 seasons on CMT, and has opinions about every single cheerleader, judge, and PR move in that building. We get into Reece's early retirement and the trad wife speculation swirling on Reddit, Faith's breakout season and the ponytail situation, whether the coordinated cheerleader solidarity online is real or engineered, what Kelli's exit meeting with Faith reveals about leadership under serious pressure, and why two feminists who probably shouldn't love this show absolutely cannot stop watching it. This week, Big Dipper and Meatball celebrate the Summer Solstice the only way they know how: with grocery store cruising fake-outs, the return of the infamous “Special BLT” (still not a BLT), and a spirited defense of drag queens everywhere. Meatball is in a new movie called Lady Champagne and the Temple of Poon and reveals why her body is officially in revolt after too many gigs, while Dipper recounts surviving the gay rugby podcast attack zone. Plus, a dry-heaving fit derails the show, and the voicemails completely unravel with dirty butts, Helen Keller, safe words, and more chaos than anyone asked for. That sting of watching the internet's "it" crowd gather in a room you weren't invited to? Kelly has something to say about it. In this episode she pulls back the curtain on the FOMO machine of the online business world: who's engineering that left-out feeling on purpose, the manipulative engagement campaign you'll never be able to unsee once she names it, and why the most successful people she knows quietly choose not to be in those rooms at all. What's actually in the 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the U.S.? Glenn breaks down what the memorandum actually promises, which is contrary to what many in the media claim, and explains why this memorandum was necessary for President Trump to issue. Glenn warns about the most dangerous sentence a government can issue and shares five stories that prove it. When a government makes a policy change and the reason is for your “safety,” your alarm bells should start ringing. Glenn discusses the horrific story from England of children suffering an unfathomable amount of abuse and the country protecting the offenders because they're Muslim. If mankind won't even stand up for the safety of children, what are we? Glenn delivers a powerful, emotional monologue arguing that the safety of children cannot be politicized. Glenn reacts to a recent poll from CNN, which revealed that a majority of Democrats are no longer proud to be Americans. Many are asking, if this Iran memorandum sticks and this is the deal that was made, why didn't Trump get a better deal? Glenn makes the case that Trump likely got the best deal he could have and lays out all the outside factors Iran used for leverage. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Affordable Interior Design presents Big Design, Small Budget
In this episode of the Uploft Interior Design, I shared how exhausted I was after a long day of client consultations, including redesigning a small living room and bedroom in Jersey City and helping a client with a tiny balcony on the Upper West Side. I reflected on a design mistake I made by offering unsolicited advice, which reminded me of an important lesson: if people don't ask for your opinion, don't give it. I then answered a listener question from Lynn about flooring options, recommending tile in her kitchen and luxury vinyl plank in her family room to balance the existing wood elements in her home. After encouraging listeners to submit more design questions and check out my viral TikTok video, I shifted gears and shared my enthusiasm for Netflix's America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. I discussed some of my favorite cast members, critiqued what I see as toxic leadership within the organization, and reflected on the challenges dancers face in such a competitive environment. I wrapped up by urging listeners to send in tougher design questions and teasing more design advice and pop culture commentary in future episodes. This week, Diosa and Mala discuss some of the films that made them feel seen, represented, or upon rewatching can now be considered queer film cannon. They dive into explicitly queer films, like "But I'm A Cheerleader", "Quinceañera", and "Mosquita y Mari" and more subtle queer films like "Mulan" and "Y Tú Mamá También." In this week's episode, we celebrate queer joy in movies with three hilarious films that are widely considered classics among the LGBTQ community. - We start with a bonafide classic. Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman star in the side-splitting Mike Nichols film, The Birdcage. - Second, Natasha Lyonne and Clea Duvall wow audiences in the creative and subversive cult gem, But I'm A Cheerleader.- Finally, our audience voted for another cult favorite in the rom-com/spy thriller D.E.B.S. All of these films offer fresh perspectives on the queer experience and bring a welcome sense of joy to their audience. Have you seen these films? Pride Month continues with this Conversion Camp comedy classic! First off, there seems to be a problem with Katie's sound in this one, I did what I could to adjust it, but apologies in advance. It should still be listenable, but we'll do out best to prevent that from happening again. In this episode: we explain Skip-Its to Gen Z, Emma has some ideas for adding communities to the Queer spectrum, a visit to a cow cuddle farm, and we brush on some of the Problems in the World Today.
In August of 2023, the Osage County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma released a journal entry written in Dennis Rader's own handwriting. The entry described a fantasy of taking a young woman from a laundromat. Rader had a title for it. He had written it on the page. "Bad Wash Day."The reason that journal entry was released matters. On June 23, 1976, a sixteen-year-old Pawhuska, Oklahoma, cheerleader named Cynthia Dawn Kinney finished her shift at her aunt and uncle's laundromat. She was reportedly last seen getting into a car with two women she did not appear to know. She has never been seen alive since. Her body has never been found. Almost half a century later, her family is still waiting. In the fourth chapter of True Crime Today's five-part BTK investigation, host Tony Brueski walks through the thirteen years between Rader's last confirmed Kansas killing in 1991 and his March 2004 resurfacing, and the question that has been driving cold-case investigators in multiple states since 2023. Did Dennis Rader actually stop, or did the system miss him?The episode covers Sheriff Eddie Virden's 2023 task force announcement. The August 2023 excavation of a property near Rader's former Park City home. Dr. Katherine Ramsland's "powering down" framework from a decade of correspondence. The March 2024 ruling out of the Shawna Beth Garber case as Rader's. The continuing disagreement between the Osage County Sheriff's Office, which still names Rader a prime suspect in the Kinney case, and the Osage County District Attorney, who has publicly said the evidence does not support charges.Dennis Rader is eighty-one. The families are aging. The case is not closed.END LINKSJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? High school envy turns lethal in DEATH OF A CHEERLEADER (1994), and The Blind Rage Podcast is reliving every icy hallway stare, every brittle smile, and every unhinged burst of ambition that made this '90s TV thriller legendary sleepover material. Inspired by a real murder case that stunned parents and tabloids alike, the film tracks a lonely overachiever who becomes dangerously obsessed with the most popular girl in school, played with porcelain poise by Kellie Martin, while Tori Spelling detonates the screen in a performance so intensely committed it has transcended melodrama and ascended into pure camp folklore. There is something both tragic and perversely fascinating about how desperately this story claws at the idea of perfection. Pep rallies and pastel bedrooms become pressure cookers. Compliments land like threats. Every attempt to belong tightens the noose a little further. DEATH OF A CHEERLEADER balances earnest after school special sincerity with moments so heightened they feel almost surreal, which may explain why it has earned enduring devotion from queer horror and camp aficionados who recognize theatrical obsession when they see it.

In 1991, a suburban Texas mother was arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hitman over a middle school cheerleading competition. This week on When Killers Get Caught, Brittany Ransom examines the shocking case of Wanda Holloway, better known as the "Texas Cheerleader Mom." This week, we're talking about something a lot of us struggle with: being your own biggest cheerleader. Whether it's promoting your business, asking for opportunities, pitching yourself to brands, or finally sharing that project you've been sitting on for years, sometimes the hardest part is believing in yourself enough to put yourself out there. We talk about why confidence is not arrogance, how closed mouths don't get fed, and why nobody is going to magically discover your talents if you never talk about them. Annaliese also shares behind-the-scenes stories from launching her book, reaching out to media, and throwing herself a full-on book release party complete with a balloon arch.Of course, the conversation eventually turns into classic Farm Girls chaos with AOL screen names that absolutely should not have existed, period horror stories after getting off birth control, and moon water witchery. This episode is motivational, filled with fun, and a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is believe in yourself first.Connect with Annaliese & Courtney:Follow Annaliese on Instagram @modfarmchickFollow Courtney on Instagram @greenpasturescattleFollow Okayest Farm Girls on Instagram @okayestfarmgirls Make sure to hit subscribe/follow so you never miss an episode!
