Flowing East and West: The Perfectly Imperfect Journey to a Fulfilled Life

A bridge does more than just connect two points; it spans a gap, carries weight, and withstands tension. In this episode of The Perfectly Imperfect Journey, we're joined by the incredible Carrington Jackson, a woman who has spent her life embodying the role of the bridge in profound ways. Carrington was the bridge that connected her mother and her father's family, opening up a relationship that had once been impossible. She is the bridge that brings people to their yoga mats - not just to move, but to learn, to heal, and to awaken. And she is the bridge in the fight for racial justice, using her voice, her presence, and her unwavering commitment to equity to create real, lasting change. This conversation is about connection, courage, and transformation. It's about the willingness to step into uncomfortable spaces, to hold the tension between worlds, and to become the link that allows others to cross over into new ways of seeing, being, and leading. Bio: For nearly 30 years, Carrington's study of yoga has been a diverse journey through the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual components of the practice. Carrington began teaching in 2004 and is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an e-RYT 500. Her classes are a canvas of practice, prayer and presence, intertwined with messages of spirit, activism and social responsibility. On a physical level, her teaching is centered on bringing people to a deeper knowing and acceptance of themselves. On a soulful level, the purpose of her teaching is to correlate yoga on and off the mat… ultimately paving the way from the I to the WE.   She currently serves both as a guest instructor for many teacher training programs throughout the country and as a mentor to yoga teachers around the world. Alongside her yoga teaching practice, Carrington is a global retreat leader, passionate human rights activist, community organizer and movement chaplain. Having gratefully learned from many teachers over the years, a few teachers that have greatly influenced her personal and teaching practices are Seane Corn, Rev angel KYODO williams, Hala Khouri, Carolyn Myss and of course the greatest teacher of all… Life. Bio: For those who love to experience music, look no further than Supertask. With deep roots in hip-hop and a focus towards immersion, Supertask creates sonic landscapes that dance between the intensity and stillness of the human consciousness. With a background in IT, Supertask frequently uses code and programming in his artistic vision, and the idea of infinity consumes his musical escapism offerings. A vision that his loyal community, the Dev Team, are directly involved in. Blending both analog and digital sound design, his unique approach has proven to be a driving force in the forward progression of electronic music. Through soundscapes that feel sentient, interactive live streams, and mind-bending visuals, Supertask is changing the way that we consume art. Supertask Links News: Single Release: 4/21 Collaboration EP With "Seeded Vision" comes out this summer. Show Takeaways: Brain-computer interfaces have the potential to revolutionize music creation, but there are challenges to overcome, such as data transfer and the role of musical knowledge. AI can be a useful tool in music production, from generating lyrics to providing information about plugins and audio files. Creativity is subjective, and the definition of creativity can vary from person to person. AI can be creative in its ability to generate music, but a sense of ownership and sentimental value may be lacking. Imperfections and randomness can add depth and authenticity to music production, and tools like Eurorack can provide unique sounds and experiences. Language has limitations in expressing emotions in music, and the complexity of defining concepts like holes and chairs highlights the challenges of categorization. Who do you spend the majority of your time with? Do their values, align with yours? Are they heading in the same direction that you want to be going? Have they accomplished things that you would like to do someday? Today's guest Stephen Woessner opens up about just how important this is. How the people and things that surround your life, truly make a difference in the trajectory of your goals.    In this episode, you'll discover…  What is the key trait to winning at work and at home? (1:12) When do you know to be patient? (5:50) How Stephen grounds himself (12:05) Your greater story. (17:49) Who you spend time with, matters. (31:31)   Stephen's Bio: For nearly two decades, Stephen Woessner has been in the trenches consulting with hundreds of clients and teaching them how to leverage Web 2.0 tactics like search engine optimization (SEO) and social media to expand into new markets, introduce new products, decrease costs, and increase revenues. Woessner is a leading Web 2.0 authority, bestselling author, and instructor at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Small Business Development Center. Woessner is also a business owner and has made costly mistakes along the way. He built one of his previous companies up to a valuation of $10 million and was planning an initial public offering. However, he lost millions when the dot com bubble imploded. This expensive lesson taught Woessner the valuable principle of always measuring the return on investment (ROI) before any action is taken. These lessons formed the foundation of his latest company, Predictive ROI. The company is based on a trademarked Web 2.0 method developed by Woessner. Instead of focusing on increasing traffic to a company's website, Predictive ROI increases the right traffic...the traffic that provides the lowest bounce rate, the traffic that increases conversions...and Predictive ROI measures the increases in traffic and conversions before a single optimized content page is ever created. For example, the social networking aspect of Predictive ROI can increase website traffic by 23 percent and conversion rates by 780 percent. Woessner's practical and tactical training sessions and keynote presentations are exactly aligned with this ROI principle. Attendees have commented that the most valuable benefit is that his processes empower executives, business owners, and managers so they can implement the steps and action plan themselves without needing technical skills. Woessner has been quoted in Inc. Magazine, E-commerce Times, B-to-B Online Magazine, Counselor Magazine, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wisconsin Public Radio, and other media for his Web 2.0 insights. He frequently teaches training sessions throughout the University of Wisconsin system including the prestigious UW-Madison School of Business. Woessner is a bestselling author. His first book is entitled The Small Business Owner's Handbook to Search Engine Optimization. The book has been ranked as high as #3 on Amazon.com United States, #1 on Amazon.com United Kingdom, and #16 on Amazon.com France for its category. His second book is entitled Increase Online Sales through Viral Social Networking and was released in March. He is currently writing his third book. Woessner earned his MBA and Bachelor of Science in marketing from UW-La Crosse. Woessner is also a graduate of Black Hills State University and the Community College of the Air Force. He lives in La Crosse, Wisconsin with his wife and daughter. Learn more at www.predictiveroi.com   What's Next?  Are you struggling to win at both home and work? I spend a lot of time coaching women around confidence, giving them tools to build their confidence and shining a light on the role gender bias plays in making us doubt ourselves.  But confidence issues often start a long time before women enter the workplace and the pressure that girls face today thanks to social media is huge. In this episode I interview Laura Sercombe, the inspiring CEO of GFS (Girl's Friendly Society), a charity that works with girls to inspire and empower them to live their best lives.  This year my business has been making a donation to fund a girl to attend one of GFS's confidence building sessions for every participant in our open Be Bolder courses, so it was great to explore this topic with Laura. We talked about why there is a need for the work GFS does, what's causing girls as young as 6 to struggle with their confidence and the importance of positive role models and safe spaces where girls can be themselves. Laura's Bio: For almost 30 years I have worked as part of the third sector in service delivery charities with a focus around challenging injustice – around education, disability and gender. I am driven by a desire to see more equity in the world and so it will be no surprise that I have a real interest in addressing EDI in the roles I have been fortunate to work in. I am lucky enough to work in an environment I really enjoy; as CEO for GFS (Girls Friendly Society), a children's charity with a mission to support girls to be proud of who they are. This is because girls as young as six tell us this is something they cannot do. Our hope is that this works contribute to the movement to address gender inequity for girls and young women. At GFS, we work with girls across England and Wales in areas where research says they do not have the same life opportunities as their peers – to inspire and empower them to live their best lives. GFS is an exciting charity that we are proud to be caretakers of. The history is extraordinary as GFS is one of the longest running charities in England and Wales, devoted solely to meeting the needs for girls and young women. We have a real focus on developing partnerships with organisations that are keen to be involved and support this objective. From an early age, girls are well aware of the far reaching gender inequalities that exist for them. We are focused on building a fair society one girl at a time by inspiring the girls to think beyond their own experience and empowering them to have the confidence to live the life they want to. This takes hard work and dedication by the volunteers who deliver sessions each week for the girls. Every now and then (about four times in a thousand episodes), we-revisit a slightly-updated version of an old episode, which proved to be super-popular first time around. This is such an episode. Many of you newbies have never listened to it, some hard-core TYPers have relistened a bunch of times and many have listened once and (understandably) forgotten most of what was spoken about. Anyway, growing up, Dr. Charlie Teo wanted to be either a rubbish collector (because they're fit), a bouncer (because he was a martial artist) or a mechanic (because he was into motorbikes - and still is). He actually started an apprenticeship as a mechanic before he studied medicine. This was a fascinating and meandering chat exploring Charlie's strategy for avoiding jet lag, neuroplasticity, improving with age, people wanting him to fail, dealing with criticism and hate, mapping the brain, a brain-machine interface, contact sports, poo transplants (yep), why he became a vegan, his exercise regime, our mutual love of motorbikes, patient-centred care, hanging out with the Dalai Lama 1 on 1 (for 4 hours), the power of kindness and lots more. BIO: For over 30 years Dr. Charlie Teo AM has been instrumental in the development, dissemination and acceptance of the concept of keyhole minimally invasive techniques in neurosurgery. Dr. Teo runs a fellowship program that attracts applicants yearly and has trained many of the world's leading figures in neurosurgery. “I was always sensitive to injustice…but in terms of how I landed doing civil rights and constitutional rights, especially as it pertains to women, I came into it organically.” An alternative in case that requires too much space. “I was always sensitive to injustice…but in terms of how I landed doing civil rights and constitutional rights…I came into it organically.”   Wendy Murphy Having the opportunity to welcome Wendy Murphy as a guest provided one of the most fascinating and educational conversations on the plight of women that I've ever experienced. From outlining how the law is written to support violence against women to the extent to which there is no one monitoring our judges when they rule in discriminatory ways against women was eye-opening, in the least. Listening to Wendy explain how it is our US Constitution that stands as the underlying cause that allows judges in every courtroom, not just criminal cases, to treat women in a discriminatory way, further ignited my inner passion to fight for women's rights, in my own smaller way. I invite you to join us for this Part 1 of a two-part conversation on what women need to know in order to stand up for themselves on how the minimization of our entire gender is not just alive and well, but legally sanctioned.     BIO For more than fifteen years, Wendy Murphy has served as adjunct professor of sexual violence law at New England Law|Boston, where she also co directs the Women's and Children's Advocacy Project under the Center for Law and Social Responsibility. A former Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School, Wendy prosecuted child abuse and sex crimes cases for many years. In 1992 she founded the first organization in the nation to provide pro bono legal services to crime victims. Wendy is an impact litigator whose work in state and federal courts has changed the law to better protect the constitutional and civil rights of victimized women and children. Wendy writes and lectures widely on the constitutional and civil rights of women and children and criminal justice policy. She is a contributing editor for The Sexual Assault Report and writes a regular column for The Patriot Ledger. Wendy has published numerous scholarly articles including a landmark law review article explaining the legal relationship between sexual assault on campus and Title IX. Dubbed the “Goddaughter of Title IX” by the “Godmother of Title IX,” Dr. Bernice Sandler, Wendy's impact litigation in the area of campus sexual assault, beginning in the early 1990s, includes groundbreaking victories against Harvard College in 2002, and Harvard Law School and Princeton University in 2010, which cases led the way to widespread awareness and reforms, including the well-known April 2011 Dear Colleague Letter. Wendy is a popular and bold speaker on the lecture circuit who describes herself as “fiercely non-partisan.” Wendy is also a well-known television legal analyst who Emmy Award-winning journalist Emily Rooney calls the “best talker” on television with a “finger on the pulse of victims' and women's rights.” Wendy has worked for NBC, CBS, CNN and Fox News. She regularly provides legal analysis for network and cable news programs. Her first book, “And Justice For Some,” was published by Penguin/Sentinel in 2007, and re-released in paperback in 2013.

STORY: Dave was trying to fill up his unhappy life and thought investing in a community leadership center was the answer. The center only hemorrhaged money and never brought in any revenue. LEARNING: Don't buy stuff just because you're trying to make yourself feel happy. Keep the absolute minimum on costs, and drive revenue. Never compare your insides to other people's outsides.   “If I'm happy on the inside, I don't have to try and force happiness on the outside. And I don't have to make poor decisions on the outside.”Dave Clare  Guest profilePurpose, Leadership, and Simplicity are the keys to success in shaping your business evolution. For over two decades, https://www.linkedin.com/in/prophetforpurpose/ (Dave Clare) has been a practitioner who has led multiple businesses in and through commercially and organizationally challenging times. Bringing care, compassion, and urgency to his process, Dave's legacy in the making is one of achievement, fulfillment, and joy in the workspace. Dave's process works because they matter to everyone - clients, teams, leaders, everybody! Worst investment everIn 2000, Dave was living in Canada and was a licensee of the world's largest personal and organizational development company. He had just come off a very successful year and thought it would be great to embed himself in the community. Dave decided to leverage the equity in his house and buy a building where he'd set up a Center for Leadership Excellence in the community. He'd worked really hard to position himself in the business community. He found this ancient building, bought it, and renovated it. The house was over 150 years old then. Dave bought new furniture, hired staff, and started the center. Dave just kept spending more money in a business that, at the time, really wasn't making money. The company didn't have a recurring revenue model and wasn't building equity. Then the global financial crisis hit, and Dave's staff started disappearing one by one. At this point, he was upside down on the house and the business and lost 70% of his client base. Dave had heavily invested in tier-one automotive clients. When the global financial crisis started, Obama pulled many automotive plants from southern Ontario and put them back into America. When this happened, many of Dave's clients' businesses were decimated. Therefore his business was destroyed too. Lessons learnedDon't buy stuff just because you're trying to make yourself feel happy instead of buying something because you need it. Having a robust support network is critical. Take responsibility for your poor decisions. Only invest in stuff that adds value to your clients. Andrew's takeawaysNo matter how far down you go, you can turn things around. Keep the absolute minimum on costs, and drive revenue. Never compare your insides to other people's outsides. Actionable adviceInvest in yourself and find inner happiness because if you're happy on the inside, you don't have to try and force happiness on the outside or make poor decisions to mask your unhappiness. BIO: For more than 30 years, Ted Leverette, The Original Business Buyer Advocate, has been helping people worldwide find and buy the right businesses the right way. STORY: Ted bought a business for eight figures only to discover it was sinking in debt. LEARNING: Hire the right kind of advisors when buying a business. Do your due diligence and get to know how the business works before you buy it.   “No matter how naive you think a business owner is, his lawyer and accountant aren't naive and will negotiate you into a bad deal.”Ted Leverette  Guest profileFor more than 30 years, https://www.linkedin.com/in/tedleverette/ (Ted Leverette), The Original Business Buyer Advocate, has been helping people worldwide find and buy the right businesses the right ways by training and assisting them through any or all of these phases: Preparation, targeting, search, due diligence, financing, valuing, negotiating, and transitioning into their acquisition or merger. Ted positions clients to be the 1st choice of brokers and sellers. And to complete more-profitable deals sooner with less aggravation at a lower cost. How? ACTIONABLE guidance. Read his how-to books (available on https://amzn.to/3Aug6Jx (Amazon)). And then let him help you deploy his proven best practices. Worst investment everTed bought a privately owned company for eight figures only to find out it was deep in debt. He lost a substantial amount of his investment in paying off this debt. The business had three operations: A consulting operation, 11 travel agencies, and a travel agent training school. The operator of this holding company knew the travel sector well. But he didn't know about managing the holding company, which is what Ted was buying. He didn't know anything about finance, so he delegated money matters to an inept accountant. When Ted asked this guy why he wanted to sell, he said it was because he had a different interest in another industry with bigger potential. Ted's mistake was letting the seller's lawyer do the purchase and sale agreement. He also relied on the company accountant, who had been pulling off shenanigans that left the company in debt. It took months after Ted got control of that company to negotiate with the unpaid vendors who wouldn't perform without a payment plan. The amount the company owed these vendors was seven times larger than what was represented to him before he bought it. Ted paid the company's debt liability for a whole year to untangle the mess. Lessons learnedSuccess does not always breed success. Sellers and their advisors won't always tell buyers enough of what buyers need to know to make informed decisions about buying the company. When purchasing a business, hire the right kind of advisors, particularly lawyers and accountants who know what they're doing. Don't let buyer competition get you into a bad deal. Andrew's takeawaysDo your due diligence, get into that business and understand what's going on in detail before you buy it. Have professional advocates that are fighting for you. Get monthly financial statements that are on time and accurate. Doing so is a sign that your accounting system is in good shape. Actionable adviceDon't be a do-it-yourself businessman. Lean on people who know what they're doing. Read books on the topic from legitimate deal makers, and avoid the charlatans out there trying to sell advice to people buying businesses. So do your homework because no matter how naive you think a business owner is, chances are his lawyer and accountant are not that naive, and they'll help negotiate with you, and you could end up in a bad deal. Ted's recommended resourcesIf you're looking for a business to buy and want to know how to start, read Ted's book https://amzn.to/3TkXVi2 (How to Prepare Yourself and Find the Right Business to Buy). I spoke with Mick Conefrey about this story. Bio: For thirty years I've made documentaries for the BBC and all the major British and US channels. This particular episode is unlike any of the previous ones to date as far as I am aware. Of course every guest is unique and special but what stands our on this one is the response of the host - me. Lou Beach cracks me up so much and you can certainly hear more laughter coming from me than is usual on this podcast. I am talking rolling, falling off a chair laughter. (Which I almost did a couple of times). Of course part of this is the good sense of humor and charm of Lou Beach , elements that certainly make their way into his work. I should add that it is very hard to get me to laugh out loud at anything, an admittedly sore spot of my many friends and acquaintances who like to kid around and tell jokes. I first became aware of him through record album covers, first the Liquid Love album from Freddie Hubbard and then the great Weather Report album covers (also on Columbia) in the 70s. Only later did I realize there was so much more to Lou Beach. As I have said before on other occasions and I believe during our conversation on this episode, I don't really believe in or abide by the ordinary boundaries and demarcations of styles of art. For me these physically reproduced popular album covers are as valid and valuable as the un-reproduced fine oil paintings. Of course the meaning and intention is very different but the qualities I admire in Lou Beach's work - the radical whimsy, fearlessness, graphic surfeit of color, and the juxtaposition of disparate pop emblems and figures - are qualities that you can only really get with his style and the world of illustration itself. Collage too is till very valid; I often have though of the spirit and impulse of collage, though it does date as far back as the Germany of the 1920s, to be always relevant and in its own way most realistic. The content and figures in it are ones that are all a part of our daily lives, for better and for worse. Beach's work too, like the politically oriented ones in that Germany of the 20s, has a most serious dimension along side the popular and he is one of those few visual artists whose work refuses to be coy and always to be remembered. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did. Links to Lou's Beautiful Works : loubeach.com Lou Beach's Bio: For the extended version of Lou's Bio, visit our show Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/journeyofanaesthetepodcast Lou Beach (né Andrzej Jerzy Lubicz-Ledwochowski) was born in Göttingen, Germany in 1947, the son of Polish parents displaced by the Second World War. The family emigrated to Rochester, NY in 1951 where Lou attended public schools and junior college. He travelled to California in 1968 where he began his artistic career by making assemblage art and studying the Surrealists, visiting galleries and museums, and creating collages from pictures cut from old Life magazines. He worked during this time in bookstores, as a delivery man, moved furniture, and ran a punch press and forklift. A road trip across country, ostensibly to travel on to Europe from the East Coast, brought him to Boston where he lived from 1972 until 1979, much of the time as the sexton at the famous Arlington St. Church. There he created collages in earnest and had his first one man show at the newly established Boston Center For The Arts, as well as being hired for several illustration assignments. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mitch-hampton/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mitch-hampton/support

He asks, if you're not living your purpose and doing what you want now, then WHEN? Not to be missed! WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Why financial security is not always the best legacy What IS the best kind of legacy to leave How his cancer shifted his mindset on values and HIS legacy The ONE thing most people want MORE of on their deathbed Why yesterday was the best time to do something, but today is the 2ND best time How the pandemic created the biggest mindset shift in history Why the pandemic caused many to reevaluate their lifestyle Why no one, especially Gen Z DON'T want ‘jobs' anymore Why YOU should be living your life purpose NOW! And MORE! Jim's Bio For 25-years Jim Kukral has been writing books (10), keynote speaking (150+), and building successful lifestyle businesses as a marketing entrepreneur. As an almost fifty-year-old successful businessman, husband, and father of two, Jim realized that he needed to spend his remaining days on this planet helping people figure out how to live a life of significance, impact, and purpose. Jim created Life Apocalypse to help people like him who are thinking about legacy, death, lifestyle, and life purpose. Many people he has spoken to have told him that after this pandemic they want to do things differently. They want to live and think differently. They understand that the world could literally end any day now. In today's episode, Shana James and I talk about being more vulnerable and showing more transparency about our experience, intentions, and hopes and how this can help promote more intimacy in relationships.   When relating to others, on one end of the spectrum we can be people-pleasing and shame collapsing. On the opposite side, we can be controlling and dominant. Neither option leads to a fulfilling relationship. Whereas in the middle, we have a sense of assertiveness, strength, and having an open heart with transparency and vulnerability. Having a healthy balance and a dynamic exchange between two people centered around support is the most advantageous for building relationships.   Having a conversation based on "compassionate curiosity" without jumping to assumptions or conclusions can lead to great learning and understanding. The more you take leadership in the conversation, the more you can be available to feel your partner's fears.   Listen in to learn how to create a safe space for both partners, how to turn your emotional walls into doorways for conversation, and how to collaborate together for heightened sex and intimacy.   (Please listen to the podcast episode or read the transcript to hear explanations, stories, and examples.) Could many of the UFOs seen around the planet actually be intelligent creatures that inhabit the sky? Is our atmosphere just another habitat for life? Filmmaker and researcher Scott Deschaine joins us to talk about this very possibility with his documentaries “Not Alone – The Life Above” and his latest, “The Cohoke Light.” We have an exciting conversation about the possibility of marine-like life living in our upper atmosphere and the connection it could have to “ghost lights” that are the stuff of legends and lore. Make sure to visit Scott’s website at www.thelivingsky.com and use the code “thelivingsky” to get 20% off a purchase. BIO: For over 15 years, author and filmmaker Scott Deschaine has explored and promoted the hypothesis of The Living Sky – that Earth’s atmosphere may provide homes to a wide variety of living creatures. His landmark article on the topic called “The Sky is Alive” was featured in Fortean Times, the world’s foremost journal of strange phenomena. It was selected by the magazine as one of its top 40 articles for the celebration of its 40th anniversary. Deschaine helped lead an investigation into the mystery lights of Marfa, Texas for an episode of The Travel Channel’s “America Declassified”. Using cutting-edge technology, the team of researchers found evidence that the lights may actually be bioluminescence from unknown aerial organisms. His documentary Not Alone – The Life Above presents the hypothesis of atmospheric life through historic scientific evidence – actual footage of lifelike objects in Earth’s atmosphere recorded during many NASA space flights. The 2018 International UFO Congress awarded the film its EBE award for Best Short UFO Film. His new film “The Cohoke Light” presents the results of a year-long field study of a mystery light in rural eastern Virginia. Numerous witnesses describe their encounters for the film. Deschaine’s crew captured stunning footage that shows the Cohoke Light, like many other mystery lights around the planet, may actually be caused by bioluminescent aerial organisms. The hypothesis of atmospheric life has drawn praise from those familiar with mysteries of the sky. One former NASA engineer and UFO expert called it “interesting and well-reasoned”. After reviewing the NASA evidence, one pilot and aviation expert said he could think of no other logical explanation. Deschaine hopes to encourage the scientific community to explore the possibilities for life in the sky. He proposes surveying a range of potential habitats at all levels of the atmosphere for evidence of life. He predicts that in the very near future, careful study will reveal that the Living Sky plays a vital role in our planetary system and in mankind’s future.

Today I sit down with Linn Purdon to discuss how she sees the world differently. For her, the world is kind of like the Matrix, but instead of numbers and code, she sees it in colors. Well, that's how it started out. Now it has grown to encompass all the senses. Her Better To moment was because of her gift. When she discovered she had this ability, she went to tell her mom but knew it wouldn't be received well, so she twisted and contorted who she was so she could fit in. Besides her gift, her family's religion took her away from a "normal" childhood. She had to figure out what it was like to fit in as she entered her teen years. Normally that is hard but imagine not being exposed to the things you had as a kid and being thrust into a whole different world. In this episode, we explore what happened to her for not embracing her gift and looking at how children just know things. Playing in others' energy, growing up, and relearning to embrace our inner brilliance are more topics we discuss. Lastly, we discuss the idea of perfection and how he can stop our energy flow.  You can find out more about Linn at Linnpurdon.com as well as on Facebook in her group Whole Being Business and Life and her other group Linn's Lab.Bio: For the rest of my childhood I did all that I could to twist away from the ability to see and communicate with energy. I studied others and tried on their energy habits, endlessly trying to fit in.In my thirties, bed ridden, broke and a single parent I decided I had had enough. It was TIME to BE Me - as I was born.I would love to say that I became healthy, wealthy and loved overnight but I can't.However it did happen.Gradually I experimented claiming back the ability to see energy - very quietly at first, but as the results flowed in I became more convinced that I was on the right path.Eventually I spoke to others  and with great delight discovered I could help them to align to their Unique Inner Brilliance too.I now understand that we each intend a Unique Vibrational Blueprint as we put on our  'human coat"' and we don't leave our enormous Universal Self behind.  In fact  when we align the two MAGIC HAPPENS.Aligning your energy in this way allows JOY to flow with ease. This is important as JOY is your vibrational blood.  As it pumps through your energy matrix it naturally attracts vitality, abundance and freedom.I am totally convinced that we are energetically designed for EASE.www.linnpurdon.com--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/d-m-needom/messageSupport this podcast: https://anchor.fm/d-m-needom/supportSupport the show

Franco knew from a very young age his soul's purpose is to bring clarity and a deeper understanding of the human operating system and our True purpose. Franco's perception of humanity and the world greatly diverges from conventional ways of thinking. Rather than abiding by traditional belief systems and mindsets, he sees beyond their conceptual creation, recognizing that there is more to us than what our current human experience has led us to believe. A shift in consciousness has been leading us not only to question our way of life and the systems of the world but to awaken to who we truly are beyond our mind, adopted beliefs and our physicality. Humanity is currently going through a transition from an ego-driven, fear-based world to one that is aligned with our true nature of unity/oneness, collaboration and cooperation while also upgrading our human experience and the playground we call Earth. Making Space for Conversations That Matter with Laura Prisc
Your Muscular System is a Window Into What’s Going on in Your Body EP 28

Making Space for Conversations That Matter with Laura Prisc

The human body is so much more complicated than we imagine. It’s not just a collection of discrete systems (respiratory, circulatory, muscular, etc.) operating independently. Rather, we are an interconnected, integrated, extremely complicated organism. And what’s going on with us physically is not caused only by physical experiences, but also by our mental and emotional states.    And because it’s the foundation that allows us to be, do, and create whatever we aspire to in life, it’s crucial that we take the best care of it that we possibly can. That’s where Brandon O’Connor comes in.    Brandon O’Connor is a Muscle System Specialist and owner of Austin Muscle Recovery, in Austin, TX. He works with clients experiencing a wide variety of issues – some of them genuinely just physical, and many of them complicated by mental and emotional issues that become trapped within our bodies, exacerbating existing conditions and sometimes creating new ones.    Each client presents differently, and Brandon’s expertise is in the observation of how each person moves and carries themselves coupled with an intense and detailed evaluation to determine the full extent of the physical manifestations of illness, disease, and the impact of mental-emotional stress or trauma on the body. The result is a highly-individualized treatment plan to rebuild and strengthen that person’s muscular system, prior to moving the client along to his colleague who develops highly-individualized exercise plans to further develop and restore that person back to health.    And it’s all based on the client’s desired outcome – the state of physical health they aspire to achieving. Laura observes that having someone this observed and knowing is appealing and can leave one feeling a bit vulnerable at the same time. We all want to be truly seen, heard, and understood, but knowing that another person is observing us closely and can detect where we are out of alignment, maybe feeling weak or unsure can also leave us feeling a bit exposed.    Laura and Brandon also explore the topics of supplements, muscle testing, resistance, and the variety of health concerns people come to him with. If you’re curious about your body and want to get some insight from the “Sherlock Holmes of the Muscular System,” (as Laura thinks of him), you’ll want to eavesdrop on this conversation.    Brandon’s Bio For the last 18 years, Brandon has been helping people live a better life through resistance-based exercise and Muscle Restoration. His passion for exercise started at age 15, when he began lifting weights for sports. That passion grew to the point that he wanted to help others reap all of the benefits he found through regular strength training.  With that purpose in mind, Brandon started a personal training practice in 2001, which started a journey to find the best possible solutions to help clients achieve their goals. Along the way, Brandon discovered radical interventions involving muscle testing and specific hands-on techniques to produce dramatic results in real time. It was a ‘game changer’ in his work, leading to the discovery of his niche: Helping those who were suffering the effects of traumatic injuries, surgeries, and disease states to return to fuller health.  Brandon founded Austin Muscle Restoration in 2009 and the Autoimmune and Injury Gym in 2015, where he and his team put their knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics to work on a daily basis. In 2018, Brandon became an instructor for the Muscle System Specialist Program instructing others in radical muscle recovery.  He holds the following certifications: Muscle System Specialist, Master Level Muscle Activation Techniques, Master Level Resistance Training Specialist, ISSA CPT, NASM CPT, NASM PES, Cooper Institute CPT.   You can also find Brandon here:  www.AustinMuscleRestoration.com Facebook @AustinMuscleRestoration Instagram @AustinMuscleRestoration

It is an honor for me to introduce you to my dear friend, John Morgan (a.k.a., President George W. Bush). I met John in 2013 at the Platform Conference in Nashville, TN, over the course of that year, we became close friends. John travels the world encouraging, challenging, and uplifting the hearts of men and women, and we are privileged to have him on the program. This show is different than any other I've done, as John and I allow you, the listener, in on our conversation. I trust you will enjoy this interview with ‘W'. John Morgan's Bio: For most Americans, there's nothing like being in the presence of the President of the United States. We know we're touching history, and for a few moments we feel bigger than life. A chance encounter with the President is a wonder we can't wait to describe to our friends. When it happens, we want to get as close as possible, shake hands and exchange a word—so we can tell our grandchildren. John C. Morgan is a rare phenomenon. He was recently hired to add the “Extra WOW factor” for a John C. Maxwell training event. Most people don't realize that he's an impersonator, because he's just that good. But even if they're expecting an impersonator, John takes them by surprise. He's amazingly gifted with George W. Bush's physical appearance, and he has assiduously cultivated the President's mannerisms and speech patterns. The hair, the shrug, the laugh, the nod, even the verbal Bush-isms—John C. Morgan makes you feel like you're speaking with the President himself. That's what Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush and Barbara Walters thought when they met John C. Morgan in character! On top of it all, John C. Morgan is a showman, musician, actor and comedian who plays the bit for all it's worth. That's how he guarantees events are full of surprises in which everyone participates. Whether “W” shows up in a limo with secret service agents to fire your starting gun, appears on the 7th tee to give some pointers and pose for pictures, shows up to make a foreign policy speech at your banquet, or all of the above and more, your guests will have a grand and unforgettable experience. Stage presentations run the gamut from comedic and musical to dramatic and motivational. John's performances not only entertain your guests but inspire them to focus on the purposes and themes of your gathering. John will work with you personally to develop just the right performance elements for your event. His flexible approach allows for periods of spontaneous interaction, alternating with scripted performances. JOHN MORGAN travels as “the face” of President George W. Bush at corporate, comedic, and faith-based events around the world, bringing joy and inspiration to millions of astonished people who might otherwise never have an audience with America's Commander in Chief. With a small cadre of “Secret Service” agents stationed around him, John nods his head and greets the crowd with the President's trademark Texas drawl. John's show combines his hilarious but respectful impression of President Bush with a few famous George W. faux pas, blended with a mix of parody songs and finishes up with an inspiring message about hope and determination. He elicits heartfelt laughter from both sides of the political aisle. Discovered at a “Bush For President” rally in 2000, Morgan went from selling appliances to performing at the President's Inaugural. By 2007, John was bringing his big- time comedic impersonation to arenas all across America, appearing live before tens of thousands on Sean Hannity's “Freedom Concerts” and before hundreds of thousands on “The Winter Jam Tour Spectacular,” where he amazed audiences with his guitar playing and singing. Millions more have seen him on America's Got Talent, The Family Feud, Headline News, Hannity & Colmes, E! Entertainment Network, ABC's “The View,” and The 700 Club. Fans even voted him a finalist on ABC TV's celebrity reality show, “The Next Best Thing.” John was awarded America's # 1 Bush Impressionist along with two “Mirror Image” awards and a 2005 Cloney award for “Best Historical Impersonation” voted on by his peers. Has also been featured on NPR's All Things Considered, and interviewed in dozen's of newspapers such as The Sunday London Times. John was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. He and, his wife of 29 years, Kathy, still reside in sunny Orlando with their four sons, Christopher, Stephen, Daniel and Jonathan, two wonderful daughters-in-law, and three exciting grandkids. John's inspiring journey is  chronicled in print. My Life as a Bush…and My Heart for Imitating Jesus, with forward by Governor Mike Huckabee, is filled with laugh-out-loud stories, audacious encounters, and spiritual insights. Each chapter of John's story encourages readers to become imitators of the greatest Man who ever lived. You can find out more about John at JohnCMorgan.com

This week my guest has earned global acclaim as one of the world’s leading experts on the financial escapades of the underworld.  There is no one with more first-hand knowledge about how international banks and businesses cater to those who own the nearly 2 trillion dollars in criminal proceeds laundered annually.  For years, in the eyes of organised crime leaders he was a highly successful mob connected money launderer that helped them to manage their illicit fortunes.  His clients, some of the most famous and deadly drug cartel bosses, offered a $1/2 million price tag for his head when he was revealed to be a highly trained U.S. federal undercover agent.   He is the New York Times bestselling author of The Infiltrator, a memoir about his undercover life, much of which was spent acting as a conduit between ruthless drug barons and corrupt legitimate appearing senior executives that cleaned billions in blood stained money through otherwise respectable international banks and businesses. It is my honour to welcome this week’s guest Robert Mazur Recorded on:  16th October 2019 Bio For years, in the eyes of organised crime leaders he was a highly successful mob connected money launderer that helped manage their illicit fortunes.  His clients, some of the most famous and deadly drug cartel bosses, offered a $1/2 million price tag for his head when arrests were made around the world and he was revealed to be a highly-trained U.S. federal undercover agent.  Robert’s 30 years of unparalleled experience as an undercover US federal agent with the Colombian crime cartels enables him to deliver a “one of a kind” inspiring message that can strengthen institutional policies and procedures, motivate key compliance employees, reduce potential corporate and senior management liability, and arms personnel with rare knowledge to improve their ability to identify and manage risk. Robert Mazur is the only person in the world that, as a long-term undercover agent, got inside this circle to such an extent that it led to his recording hundreds of conversations that formed the foundation for the conviction and imprisonment of more than 50 money launderers, including many senior bank officials. Those officials included board members, and even the President of a bank that had a presence in 72 countries. After their conviction and imprisonment, he also led a team that debriefed some of these senior executives for months at a time. With seized records taken from the bank’s branches around the world pursuant to search warrants, he confirmed the truthfulness of the facts told to him by the jailed bankers. Everything was verified. After completing a highly decorated 27-year career as a federal agent in 3 U.S. agencies, Robert is now the President of KYC Solutions, Inc., a firm that provides speaking, expert witness and consulting services to companies worldwide. Robert Mazur is certified in both U.S. and Canadian courts as an expert in money laundering.  His articles have been published by many journals and media outlets, including the NY Times.  He is a contributor to money laundering related programming that has aired on PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Univision, BBC, and other major networks.  He has been a guest on more than 1,500 radio and television shows during the past several years. He is the author of “The Infiltrator”, a memoir about his undercover life, much of which was spent acting as a conduit between ruthless drug barons and corrupt legitimate appearing senior executives that cleaned billions in blood stained money through otherwise respectable international banks and businesses. ‘The Infiltrator’, a major motion picture based on Robert Mazur’s undercover life as a money launderer, starring Bryan Cranston, was internationally released during 2016. Robert Mazur has transformed his underworld experience and current day involvement in the money laundering field into a remarkable lesson for today’s business sector.  He shares unique insights about how to build a team to identify and manage the type of risk that could otherwise inflict costly reputation loss for institutions, like those that have in recent years entered into Deferred Prosecution Agreements or otherwise been prosecuted for criminal offences in connection with their movement of tainted funds.  His presentations take his audiences to ground zero, the heart of money laundering risk. He shares the secrets he learned from the world’s most notoriously corrupt members of the financial markets. Robert Mazur delivers several different types of compelling presentations. In his standard keynote, he explains his amazing life in the underworld as a money launderer for Colombian cartels, as well as the techniques used by the most sophisticated money launderers in the world then, and today. For audiences looking for more in-depth details about specific methods of laundering and detecting money laundering threat, Robert provides varying lengths of masterclasses that dissect documents and chart the path of dirty money through methods only generally referenced by most money laundering experts.  Links:  More about Robert Mazur More about Maria Franzoni Ltd Connect with Maria on Linkedin Connect with Maria on FaceBook To book any of the speakers featured on the Speaking Business podcast, click here  Listen here: Libsyn  Itunes  Soundcloud Stitcher Spotify

You can also listen to me gush about how cool she was in elementary school. Bio: For five years, Kate Milliken was immersed in the personal stories of people living with chronic illness as the founder of MyCounterpane.com, an online platform that allows patients and caregivers to lay out their personal narratives based on how they feel.  The venture began when Kate was diagnosed with MS in 2006.  Kate saw a need for moment- based authentic content of what it was like to actually live with an illness, where every entry was tagged with an emotion to make it immediately helpful and easily searchable for people in need of finding others to relate to.  MyCounterpane aimed to demonstrate insights and prove outcomes in the emotional realm of health, healing people through the story of them in the process.  Though the company began to relevant data, they were unable to find a clear revenue model, and as a result, this iteration of MCP closed in June 2018. Kate is now deliberating her next chapter which will be based in the biggest insights she garnered from her work- that loneliness kills and that connection over time builds resilience.    Pre- MS, Kate founded Milligrace Productions, a video production company specializing in mini documentaries for private, corporate and non-profit clients.  She has worked in television for more than 15 years, off camera as a producer for the View and VH-1 and as a correspondent in alternative sports (such as snowboarding, mountain biking and monster trucks) where she worked for Fox Sports NET, TNT, TNN the Outdoor Life Network and Oxygen.   Kate lives in Bronxville, New York with her husband and two young children, a 8-year old son who works to throw 3 pointers on a basketball court like Steph Curry and a 6-year daughter who wages a daily battle against the hairbrush.

You just make it work. There are also positives to working in rural schools: the interpersonal relationships with students are unmatched, you form close relationships with colleagues and administrators, and there is little to no red tape. Teaching music in a rural town can be a lonely world. Participate in collaborative events with other teachers. Learn from each other’s challenges and successes, and lean into their experiences to enrich your own. Being involved in multi-school events allows small schools to find strength in numbers and perform repertoire that is otherwise beyond their reach. Don’t have an event nearby? Start one. Students can learn from every choir director they get to work with. A successful rural music program is all about the positive relationship you have with the students. Students have to know they are going to be successful when they perform with you Bio: For nearly 20 years Dr. Marlen Dee Wilkins has been teaching and directing Middle School, High School, Collegiate and Church choral ensembles. 090 Be More, Do More, Have More, The Power of Significance - Tom Ziglar URL:  http://www.julieannsullivan.com/ziglar-on-significance/   Summary What does it mean to create significance? How can I make a greater impact on others? How are my habits related to my personal and professional achievement? Those are questions every success-oriented person should be asking, and our guest today will help you find the answers. I’m excited to introduce you to Tom Ziglar, son of the late Zig Ziglar, one of the world’s top motivational speakers for decades. Tom is CEO of the Zig Ziglar Corporation and travels the world speaking to billion-dollar companies, small business owners, and at prestigious academic institutions. In our interview, Tom reveals the secrets that have helped him become so successful. You’ll learn why you must be before you can do, why you must do before you can have, and what the ultimate goal of your success should be (hint: it’s to help others). Grab pen and paper, your phone or tablet, because you’ll want to take notes on the practical strategies Tom shares for success.   Tom’s Bio: For over two decades, Tom has served as CEO of the family business. He joined the Zig Ziglar Corporation in 1987, learning every aspect of the business as he climbed from working in the warehouse, to sales, to seminar promotion, to sales management, and then on to leadership. Tom has had the privilege of speaking around the world to billion-dollar companies, small business owners, and at prestigious academic institutions like Cambridge and Harvard. He excels at speaking on leadership, business, and performance. Tom’s mission in life is simple: To help you become significant by equipping you to help others be, do, and have more than they thought possible.   You’ll discover: Why Tom describes his superpower as being an “intellectual engineer,” and how you can harness that power as well. The fastest way to success. Key wisdom from Zig Ziglar on why habits are like termites: “Hurricanes and tornadoes get all the publicity, but termites do more damage and they take such little bitty bites.” Why you’ve got to be before you can do, and do before you can have. Why lottery winners tend to squander all their money. The reason why you should get out of bed immediately instead of sleeping in. How to re-train your brain to look for the good by keeping a gratitude list. The power of a 2-minute self-talk exercise twice a day … it will change your life! The three C’s of prosperity: Connect, Communicate, Collaborate   Tom’s 5:00 a.m., 45-minute routine that has laid the foundation for his success: I imagine two chairs--one for me, and one for God. I ask Him three questions: Do you know my circumstance? Are you big enough to handle it? What’s the plan? I study the Bible. I write down four goals I’m working on that day. I write the names of the people I will encounter that day, and create a mental model of how my time with them will go. Even if things go differently, I am better prepared to handle it. Then I get to work on my #1 priority for the day.   Interview Links & Other Resources Ziglar.com Free Self-Talk Cards Follow Tom on Twitter Connect with Tom on LinkedIn Connect with Tom on Facebook The Ziglar Show Podcast Two Chairs by Bob Beaudine Mere Mortals Unite on C-Suite Radio iTunes - Subscribe, Rate and Review
