This is The Digital Story Podcast #785, April 6, 2021. Today's theme is "If I Were to Buy a Photo Printer." I'm Derrick Story. Opening Monologue Quite possibly a barrier to making more visual art is your printer. Do you have an aging behemoth that gives you unpredictable results at best? Has your All-in-One become an All-In-None? Would you like something that's just a bit smarter, smaller, and better looking? Well, then keep listening. Today's TDS Podcast will get you up and running again. Digital Photography Podcast 785 Tune-In Via Your Favorite Podcast App! Apple Podcasts -- Spotify Podcasts -- Stitcher Podbean Podcasts -- Podbay FM -- Tune In If I Were to Buy a Photo Printer Printers have come a long way in the last few years. You can buy units that take up less space and are more fun to use. Here are five of my favorites. Pigment vs Dye-Based Printers Very broadly, pigment inks last longer without fading, but dye inks tend to give richer, denser colors and sink deeper into the paper surface. They're both 'inks', but they have different pros and cons and printer makers will choose one or the other (or combine them) according to what the printer's designed for. The best photo printer doesn't necessarily use one or the other - it's up to you how you want to balance immediate print quality against long-term stability. 5 Favorite Inkjet Printers Epson SureColor P700 13" Photo Printer ($799) - Max Print Size: 13"x19"; Number of Ink Cartridges: 10 (pigment based); Connectivity: RJ45, USB Type-B, WiFi; Platform Compatibility: Win/Mac; AirPrint Compatible: Yes; LCD: Yes; Accepts Roll Paper: Yes; Front or Rear Feed: Yes. Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300 13" Professional Photographic Inkjet Printer ($899) - Max Print Size: 13"x19"; Number of Ink Cartridges: 10 (pigment based); Connectivity: RJ45, USB Type-B, WiFi; Platform Compatibility: Win/Mac; AirPrint Compatible: Yes; LCD: Yes; Accepts Roll Paper: No. Canon PIXMA PRO-200 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer ($599) - Max Print Size: 13"x19"; Number of Ink Cartridges: 8 (dye based); Connectivity: USB Type-B, WiFi; Platform Compatibility: Win/Mac; AirPrint Compatible: Yes; LCD: Yes; Accepts Roll Paper: No. If you are doing B&W printing on gallery quality fine art fiber basedmatte papers this may not be your printer. While it certainly does a good job, a pigment based printer with a flat black ink cartridge will give better results. Epson Expression Photo XP-970 Small-In-One Inkjet Printer ($299) - Max Print Size: 11"x17"; Number of Ink Cartridges: 6 (dye based); Connectivity: USB Type-B, WiFi; Platform Compatibility: Win/Mac; AirPrint Compatible: Yes; LCD: Yes; Accepts Roll Paper: No. And it includes a flatbed scanner! Canon Pixma TS9521C Wireless All-In-One Craft Printer ($249) - Max Print Size: 11"x17"; Number of Ink Cartridges: 5 (Pigment-Based-Black, Dye-Based-Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black); Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB Type-B, WiFi; Platform Compatibility: Win/Mac; AirPrint Compatible: Yes; LCD: Yes; Accepts Roll Paper: No. And it includes a flatbed scanner! LG Leaves a Trail of Photo Innovations Behind As It Exits Mobile You can read the entire article on Petapixel. It may not have come as a surprise for those with ears to the ground in the mobile phone industry, but LG is officially walking away. Despite that, it does leave something of an imaging legacy behind. As of July 31, 2021, it will be the end of an era for the company, as the drawdown will be completed by that date. It will continue to sell the remaining inventory -- even after that date -- but nothing new will come from here on out. LG's struggle to carve out a steady piece of the market and grow it proved daunting. With Chinese brands emerging as serious contenders to all established players, the market squeeze forced a rethink of what to do to stand out. That's where phones like the Dual Screen G8X and V60 ThinQ, and -- especially -- the Wing, came out looking totally unique. To my mind, one of the reasons LG lost its way is because it stumbled on the photography side. There were certainly other, sometimes related, reasons, but the imaging part of the equation was a major factor. The V40 pioneered the triple-camera array, albeit too late to stand out among the pack. The problem was that the software wasn't good enough to help produce better photos. Google had software computation, Samsung had decent output, Huawei had outstanding performance, and OnePlus had improving quality. Tighter competition and less of a differentiating hook continued to push LG to the side. In an era where camera performance and image quality figured so prominently as a selling point for high-end and mid-range handsets, LG struggled to make its own case. It stopped being the first to do things and followed trends instead. Its attempt at artificial intelligence input for its camera array never amounted to much in the way of innovative prowess. If I were a boy教唱(1)曾经有一部陈坤主演的电影《渴望一份真爱的感觉》,看完之后,内心久久不能平静。 《If I Were a Boy》是美国女歌手碧昂丝·吉赛尔·诺斯演唱的一首“成人时代”歌曲,歌词、曲谱由BC·简和托比·盖德填写。 If I were a boy如果我是一个男孩Were a连读Even just for a day哪怕期限只有一天just t for a省音I'd roll out of bed in the morning我会在清晨翻下床roll out of 连读bed in 连读And throw on what I wanted and go套上一件舒心的衣服就出门And d省音throw on连读 what I 连读wanted and 连读 and d省音Drink beer with the guys和哥们儿花天酒地Drink k不完全爆破with th省音And chase after girls在街上泡着心仪的美女And d省音 chase after 连读I'd kick it with who I wanted喜新厌旧,不顾后果I'd d省音kick it 连读 it t省音who I 连读And I'd never get confronted for it随心所欲,无所顾忌And I'd 连读 d省音get t省音 confronted d省音 for it连读 it t省音Cause they'd stick up for me因为我的兄弟们帮我会处理好一切Cause they'd stick up for meIf I were a boy假如我是个男孩were a 连读I think I could understand我想我会渐渐明白think I 连读could understand连读how it feels to love a girl如何去爱一个女孩how it连读 it t省音I swear I'd be a better man我发誓我会成为一个更好的男人I'd d省音be a 连读better t美式浊化I'd listen to her我会聆听她的一切I'd d省音cause I know how it hurts因为我明白孤独一人那有多痛苦cause I 连读how it连读when you lose the one you wanted当你失去所爱之人cause he's taken you for granted他对你冷若冰霜,把你给予的一切当作理所当然and everything you had got destroyed!
Over the years Paul Harvey presented several versions of his episode, "If I Were the Devil. " Back in August of last year, one of our episodes featured his original version from 1964. I believe that the timing is right to bring you this episode, one of his last versions of this editorial. From 1996, here is "If I Were the Devil."
Glenn and Stu discuss Texas Gov. Abbott’s decision to completely open the state and rescind the mask mandate. Rep. How can a painful past become a source of love and bonding? Can the Catholic faith be reconciled with the theories of evolution? Should we reject Bruce Springsteen for blasphemy? Ask Christopher West is a weekly podcast in which Theology of the Body Institute President Christopher West and his beloved wife Wendy share their humor and wisdom, answering questions about marriage, relationships, life, and the Catholic faith, all in light of John Paul II’s beautiful teachings on the Theology of the Body. Free Word Made Flesh Lenten Sunday Mass Companion! (https://tobinstitute.kartra.com/page/WMFLent) Want to support the Theology of the Body Institute and receive ongoing formation? Join our Patron Community (https://tobpatron.com)! Q1: I am 33 and waiting for responsible love and marriage. My boyfriend, a practicing Catholic, recently disclosed his past to me — and it is very overwhelming. He has caused and experienced so much pain and suffering that I feel no longer physically attracted to him at this moment. I have forgiven him, but somehow my natural attraction to him has faded. Do you think this feeling will pass? How can a painful past become a source of strength, healing and somehow mysteriously, love and bonding? Q2: I love the endless depth of Genesis, especially through the lens of Theology of the Body. Could you share a bit about how you reconcile the deep truths found in Genesis with the science of evolution? I know Genesis isn't intended literally so it's not quite that I'm asking. I'm more wondering things like - did humanity evolve to a certain point as animals without souls and then God breathed his life into Adam and Eve, making them human? Q3: In one of your recent podcasts you spoke of your affinity for the music of Bruce Springsteen. Like you, I am a big fan and even though I do not have one musical fiber in me, I greatly enjoy his art and am very grateful that he has shared his talent with the entire world. He has a song called, “If I Were a Priest” that was written long ago but recently released. In this song, he seemingly blasphemes the Blessed Mother and the Holy Spirit. I say “seemingly” because different people will interpret these words and the entire song differently, but it sure seems very irreverent to me. The 1st Saturday devotion was established by Jesus and Mary to counter attacks against her Immaculate Heart. In support of this devotion, it seems that we should reject the attacker (no matter how talented he is) in some way. Do you have any thoughts on this? . . 本週13部新片(含舊片重映): 7/8上映 ▶《祕密花園》 The Secret Garden 7/10上映 ▶《角落小夥伴電影版:魔法繪本裡的新朋友》 Sumikko Gurashi the Movie ▶《疤面教父》 Capone ▶《假面病棟》 Masked Ward ▶《PJ 哈維:戰地拾音錄》 A Dog Called Money ▶《女子漢又怎樣》 If I Were a Boy ▶《噬血達琳》 Darlin’ ▶《慾火烈愛》 Red ▶《謙虛的英雄》 Modest Heroes: Ponoc Short Films Theatre, Vol 1 舊片重映 ▶《推拿》 Blind Massage ▶《魔鬼剋星(1984)》 Ghostbusters(1984) ▶《里斯本的故事》 Lisbon Story ▶《沉默的羔羊》 The Silence of the Lambs 大家這禮拜打算看哪部電影呢? Powered by Firstory Hosting

"If I Were the Devil" - The devil is a very real being whom scripture depicts as our adversary and an opponent of God and all that's good. Knowing what we know about people (ourselves included) and what the scripture teaches - if I were the devil, what would I do to destroy people's lives, families and churches, and turn them away from God? What would be the strategy to cause even Christians to lose faith and return to the wicked and self-centered ways of the world?

If I Were a Rich Girl (Daidle deedle daidle, Daidle daidle deedle daidle dumb) This week, we dream about what we’d do if we had the ability to pay for Disney’s newest VIP experience: the World of Dreams Tour. Essentially, it’s the Lebron James of tours that allows you to do almost anything you want in the parks as long as Disney says yes. Joe and I let our imaginations run wild as we dream up as many fun and crazy experiences as we can that the normal person doesn’t get a chance to do. Now, we just have to figure out where to get $12,000…. Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode.

At the end of the year, lots of people love posting round-ups of their favorite books. I was lazy and didn’t do a round up even though I read lots of good books, but IF I WERE to have done one for 2018, at the tippy top of the list would for sure be a novel titled, This is How it Always Is, by Laurie Frankel. Now, most of the authors I host on this show are non fiction authors, because parenting thought leaders usually write, well, parenting books, so it’s rare that I chat with a fiction writer. But I think this is such a relevant exception because this book is about raising a trans child, a subject that is near and dear to my heart because I have a trans brother, but we haven’t had a chance to explore it yet on the podcast, so I’m grateful for the opportunity to do so. But I’ve also been telling people that the book is not just like a LGBTQ niche fiction, it’s such a poignant read for parents in general, and really for all human beings, sort of exploring these transcendent themes that we all wrestle with. It’s just so well written and gripping and challenging and validating and beautiful all at the same time. I talk with Laurie about her life as a parent raising a trans child herself, and how that intersects with her fictional account. We talk about the characters she has created, as well as all the issues that arise with raising transgender children. Erin Mackey and I discuss what it's like playing a classic ingenue with a modern sensibility through the lens of Sarah Brown, a role she has yet to play! We also chat about the challenges and rewards of being in Broadway's first a cappella musical, In Transit. My analysis for "If I Were a Bell" mostly focuses on Sarah Brown being drunk, and the fun ways Frank Loesser chose to musicalize it.

It's been many years since the original electronic-music duo Wavestar of John Dyson and Dave Ward-Hunt got together -- about 35, to be somewhat precise. And although Dyson has produced several solo albums since then, it's been many years since the last release with the Wavestar name came out. Now with Paul Ward and Stefan Whitlan bringing their keyboard and compositional skills to the fold, the band is retagged Wavestar II, and the long-awaited album Nightwinds is now available. All three of the guys chat with host Mark Ashby about the olden days of Wavestar, the importance of the Korg Sigma to the trademark Dyson sound, and how this album went from being a Dyson solo project to a group effort. In the Prog Squad, Cliff, Jason, and David join Mark in discussions about the upcoming Frank Zappa hologram tour, awesome album openers, and bands they were behind the times in appreciating. You can order Nightwinds from www.groove.nl or www.cd-services.com. Featured songs/excerpts: "I.F.O." Some have gone on to write, and some have gone on to to take a stab at a singing career. Leonard Nimoy was one of the Trek celebrities to attempt the musical arts and, in fact, released five separate albums of music. In this episode of Melodic Treks, host Brandon-Shea Mutala is joined by Tony Robinson to talk about the singing career of Leonard Nimoy and weather or not the record labels were taking advantage of the Spock character when they released the first album. Now that you have attracted your customer, what’s the next step? Stage 2 is all abouthow to convert your social media fans and followers into leads. You have already attracted them using your content, now it’s time to offer them something more. Create Something of Value A great way to convert followers into leads is by offering them premium content that is given in exchange for their information. You have to ensure that what whatever you are offering is worth exchanging their email for. The offer of knowledge in the forms of an eBook, webinar or whitepapers will give you the opportunity to show off your skills. eBooks are a great way to share your knowledge and build trust with your prospects. Free webinars give you the opportunity to share your skills and engage in something relevant at the same time. Webinars not only allow you to interact with your prospects, but can be recorded for future use. Research reports are a great way of sharing data through infographics and case studies. The infographics can also be used to create cool back links to your website. Just remember the value of the proposition must be enough to receive the customer's information in return. Create a Landing Page Your advertised offer must lead to a landing page. This is where your prospect can share their information with you in exchange for your content. "Without the landing page and information, your potential customer cannot become a lead." Share Once you have your offer and a landing page, you are ready to share your content with the world. We come full circle, as you need to share the offer from your website across your social media channels. You can create a great offer using the Facebook ad engine. This application allows you to be specific when targeting your audience. This is also a very cost-effective way of getting your content promoted across Facebook. Pixel tracking also allows you to narrow down segments by promoting your ads to people who have already visited your website. Favourite HubSpot Resource Zaahn Johnson, The Kingdom's social media expert, was a big fan of the HubSpotcampaign tool this week. It allows you to see what part of your HubSpot journey is humming along. A tool that is often underused, it allows you to attach a campaign name to social media posts, and can give you data on how it has gone. This tracking tool gives you an idea of how specific campaigns have done over time so you can analyse it. Managing Director Adam Steinhardt is fond of two HubSpot features this week. The new customisable dashboard that allows users to move and collapse the contact module. Secondly, the new ability to places messages from external applications directly into HubSpot. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change… Zaahn would love to be able to post and schedule videos via HubSpot's scheduling tool. As a major fan of video on social media, it would be an incredible and useful feature. Adam thinks it would be great to have a membership module that allows a private viewing space for members, and would give them special options. On that note, that wraps up this week's Podcast on Part 2 of How to Use Social Media to Bring People Down the Sales Funnel. This year, Adam will be speaking about how to transform your ageing sales skills into a modern inbound sales strength before it’s too late. Until next week, check us out on Twitter @hub_n_spoke.

Do you want to get the most out of your social media posts? The attract stage is the element with the potential to draw people in. Social media is a great way to share the content to begin this process. To be successful on social media your content must be helpful, enjoyable and sharable. If your content can solve a customer's problem or answer their questions it will be even more engaging. So how can you get the most out of social media when trying to engage your customer and prospects? Headlines Headlines are a key element in engagement. A headline that clearly describes the content, provokes emotion and draws attention will be more successful in the attraction process. CoSchedule’s headline analyser is a useful tool when creating your headlines. You can also benefit from adding value to the post. For example; “6 tips to…….”. This method also makes the content easier to read and appears less time consuming to the user. Hashtags Hashtags are a great way to follow and engage with others. It's great to use trending or specific hashtags. It helps users find your content when searching social media sites such as Twitter. Are you are unsure of which hashtags to use for your business? Doing some research or using a hashtag assisting apps can help you make the right choices. Just don’t forget to add them to your posts! Influencers Influencers are a top secret strategy to get your word out quickly. Using influencers or ambassadors is perfect for people wanting to get their business and content out there. Sharing your content with their larger following will help broaden your own. This could be through writing blogs about your business or via social media posts. It is also possible to bring like-minded brands together. Friendly sharing of a database can be mutually beneficial. Newsjacking Take advantage of what is being most googled with newsjacking. This is a sneaky method to get your content attention. Google trends can help you find topical events locally or around the world. By engaging with these topics you can be a part of the current popular conversation. App Of The Day Not sure how to track the success of your shared links over social media? Bitly is a great platform that allows you to easily shorten your URLs and measure their impact. It can be used to track your links across all social media channels. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change… The HubSpot universe would benefit from the ability to post multiple images to social media. It would be far more convenient than having to return to the original platform. Our Resource HubSpot never ceases to create cool and awesome things. HubSpot’s dashboard is no exception. "50% of sales time is wasted on unproductive prospecting." [Source: The B2B Lead] Including what landing pages are working, which contacts have come through, and the blogs that are performing well. Are we are in content shock? Do we need a restraining order against social media? It's time to analyse how much the popular social networks have grown, and what that means to consumers. Content is a really interesting point, and something that grabbed our attention was in The Asia Pacific Content Marketing Report 2016. HubSpot and Survey Monkeycombined forces and they polled 720 different marketeers. Now we know what you're thinking; you hear the word "report" and think 'I totally should read it, must read it, but will I?' What really blew us away was the infographic on page 5 about "What happens online in 60 seconds." It’s about content shock and growth of platforms, listing some remarkable stats. Statistics from the Marketing Report What's App has proven to be very powerful through these stats. There were millions of messages posted every minute. In 2013, 11.8 million. In 2014, 34.7 million. In 2015, 44.4 million. The features of the group aspect in What's App are easy, and it’s also free. With an easy interface, it gets the job done. What’s App doesn’t require its users to be on Facebook even though it’s owned by Facebook, which makes it that much more simple to use. There were more What’s App messages sent than Twitter. Twitter went from 278,000 tweets per minute in 2013 to 420,340 tweets per minute in 2015. Instagram has gone from 28,000 to 55,555 posts per minute. Snapchat is missing though which is interesting. Maybe they didn’t want to add another quadrant into the pie chart? And another question, who counted them all? That’s a big job! WordPress doesn’t have a very big growth. We’re talking about 817 posts to 1212 across 3 years, it’s not a huge difference at all. Facebook is still really strong as they increased from 2.5 million to 3.3 million over 3 years. Emails went from 182.9 million to 205 million over 3 years. There should also be a mini quadrant of actual emails opened and emails clicked, that would be great! YouTube has gone from 100 million to 400 million. being the second biggest search engine in the world, there was massive growth in YouTube hours uploaded. So, what's the takeaway from these statistics? To YouTube more! As an average person, it is clear that by checking all of these apps and social networks throughout the day, there is no time to do any work. The bottom line is, does anyone have any time to do anything anymore? Well, they say that the world has fallen in love with social media, but you could argue that we’ve become a little obsessed. Do we need restraining orders on social media? Content Shock SmartInsights.com have done the job. So what’s the verdict on content shock? Is there just too much? Well, the lesson to take out of this of course, is that this is really beneficial for consumers. Everything that’s been put up educates the consumer, giving them an understanding of exactly what they want to know about their posts. A big take away for businesses is if you’re not doing content, you’re not getting found. If you Google something but can’t find what you’re after in that search, and re-word it and Google again, you will get different content. It’s important to include lots of long-tail keywords in your content to ensure consumers can find you easily so you are able to help solve their problems. Favourite HubSpot Resource Zaahn loves to blog and all things about blogging. The great thing is that you can have multiple blogs through HubSpot, and The Kingdom has made great use of this by having 8 blogs! They are all separate and have their own niche markets. Why is this beneficial you ask? As a brand, we are able to focus on key areas of our business. At The Kingdom, we use landing pages to have content submitted. We then use theAPI calls to actually create a blog with user-generated content through HubSpot. Adam loves the smart list feature which allows you to create lists based on criteria in your HubSpot data base. That means that you can segment your contacts whichever way you want to. It allows you to grow and segment your data base very easily. Niche content is super important, so having lists that are defined means you will get better open rates. Smart lists have a lot of potential, being a big part of HubSpot, but they are very underrated. Smart lists also have a feature that connects with Twitter. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change... Zaahn would include the Ads Manager tool from Facebook into HubSpot. Currently, it's an add-on for about $130+ a month, but is it a valuable enough to be worth it? For those spending thousands on marketing each month, it absolutely is worth it. It gives you closed-loop reporting on Google ad words and LinkedIn ads. You can watch the entire process; from the point of starting the ad, right through to the very end when the lead becomes a customer by giving you the ROI number. If you have an e-commerce website it’s really powerful for your business to find out exactly where that lead or purchase came from. Social media is important to your business, such as Facebook’s ability to do re-marketing with pixel tracking so you’re able to track those conversions. Adam would love to make the reporting tool free. Marcus Sheridan and George B Thomas have a wonderful podcast called The Hubcast, and they actually have a hashtag about it #makeitfree. The reporting tool is the end of the process for inbound marketing, and everyone needs access to this to report the fact that it actually works. It’s a challenge to sell anything to the world these days, and HubSpot is a great platform to help in this process. Ideas Forum - mortarboard hat in HubSpot You are able to vote whether you want to have a feature for HubSpot. Go to the motarboard hat at the top of the HubSpot menu, and go to the Ideas Forum. Our Resource Adam’s tip for you all: Go to the HubSpot Academy and check out the HubSpot marketing Library for content ideas. If you're after marketing tips and tricks, we have over 6 months worth of free content on our Facebook Live blog posts. Each episode ends with our favourite app of the day, which are mainly marketing-related, but sometimes are just a bit of fun. How can HubSpot's platforms help your business and your customers? Should you be inbound fit to be a successful marketer? Landing Pages Zaahn has been loving watching how landing pages work. Landing pages are definitely under-rated on a social platform and should be used more. The ability to share it and have it as an option for social media is great for more conversion. Landing pages have so much versatility. If your business is hiring, one great tip is to use a landing page as a careers page. Hiring on your own website is a great idea as it's cost effective and gives you the option to push it out on social media. You're able to organically grow your contact’s email database as the decay rate is usually 20% per year. You will need to boost it up frequently to ensure it doesn’t disintegrate. Social media definitely gets conversions, so these components are equally important. Progressive Polling Tool Progressive polling is designed with the customer in mind. HubSpot’s progressive polling tool allows you to see the form at the back of customer’s portals. It’s there to avoid the annoyance of having to repeatedly fill in forms and submit your details. It remembers your information, and instead of asking you the same information, it will ask you something perhaps you haven’t submitted an answer for yet. Traditionally, we would set up a landing page with a first and last name and an email address. Next time you came back, the prompt might be for your Twitter. The time after that, the question may be asking what your main social media platform was. Lead Nurturing Lead nurturing works really well as you can grow the amount of information you collect from people, as they build their trust with your business and website. The more they trust, the more information they give. There is no need to rush at the beginning to harvest the data as you can rely on the future you receive it. Ideally, when creating landing pages you want to ask the bare minimum to avoid creating a barrier. You must question what will be done with the information you’re gathering from your customers? Do you need to know every detail? There needs to be a purpose. What are you trying to achieve? What are your goals? Ask yourself if you would fill it in if you were in their position? Have empathy with the customer’s experience. Would you like a personal HubSpot demo? Sign up for a free 30 minute personal webinar. Sales by HubSpot App The Sales by HubSpot app on (App Store, Google Play) is used to watch people clicking through your website. Available for HubSpot users through the HubSpot App in the iTunes store. Even if you only use HubSpot free Sales CRM, you can download the app to keep track of your customers. "Seeing who has interacted with that landing page will help you understand which pages are working and which aren't." It’s almost like watching live inbound marketing working before your eyes. Particularly if you’re using the HubSpot sales pro-tool that allows you to view the users clicking on your website as they click links. If you are after some extra learning, HubSpot has a HubCast which is their podcast made for HubSpotters. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change... Zaahn would like to be able to bring in the image from a social media link, rather than the preview link. When posting on social media, she would like to bring in that image from that page rather than the preview link. A blog header image visually looks better than a link. Adam would allow a picture off the HubSpot software on his phone to go straight to the contact’s timeline. Effectively, photograph our sales notes and important documents to go straight into the timeline. Imagine pulling out your phone and going to your contact card, taking a photo and receiving your result. If you are also attending, Adam is on the sales track on Wednesday November 9th at 4:15pm. Zaahn’s most looking forward to seeing multiple speakers from Inbound Marketing World such as Marcus Sheridan and George B Thomas. They are full of passion and will be speaking individually this year too. Adam's looking forward to seeing Beth Dunn. Last year she covered a hard topic on how to successfully create editorial style guidelines, and how to set up your writing style. Brian Fanzo will also be there, and he was very into Snapchat last year at Social Media Marketing Week. He gave the audience some tips and tricks on how to make Snapchat work for your business. He once spent over 20 hours out the front of a Superbowl doing non-stop periscope show on Facebook Live. Nikki Sharp works in the HubSpot marketing department and will also be there. Is HubSpot better than WordPress? Which is more efficient for your business? Analysis of HubSpot V WordPress Is HubSpot better than WordPress? WordPress is a great blogging tool that makes it usually customer's first choice. It has many fantastic templates available and is free, but can be easily hacked due to this. HubSpot is easy to use, understand and update your content accordingly. Everyone is able to use it and create a website which will give you statistics on your customer base, and whether your content is generating leads. HubSpot is great with being honest, and this builds trust with their customers If you conduct a google search on HubSpot v WordPress, you will find many comparison articles. One of the big five to have on your website is X v Y comparison search. How does a WordPress website work with HubSpot? Once users see the benefits of HubSpot they eventually switch from WordPress. If you currently have a Wordpress website in place you would have great content already, and HubSpot makes the most of that content. If you haven't, stick to 1 platform. With 1 integrated program and 1 password login, HubSpot is a secure service. Through HubSpot, The Kingdom is able to have multiple blogs. It is also extremely easy to update the website. Creating and applying CTA's, landing pages and forms are also easy as they are built into HubSpot. In comparison, Wordpress needs plug-ins for these things to work, and it is one big blog effectively. SMART content shows different content based on the lifecycle stage of your customers. Suggestions of what to show your customers next who are currently online. The Kingdom has multiple different blogs in order to focus on the niche market of clients. Resources of the Week A free eBook made up of 38 pages entirely of sample emails for marketing sales. It contains great ideas for new content for emails to send to your prospects. Go to HubSpot.com and in the top right-hand corner you will see a mortarboard hat. Under this heading, select the marketing library and search through the library. Subscribe to the HubSpot blog to receive their emails each week. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change... Adam loves the workflows, but would create visual representations of the workflows for those who don't code. Or perhaps text-based representation, like lines of code, for the ability to debug and view the context of the script. What tools and resources does HubSpot offer? What effects can social media have on your business? Zaahn's Favourite Tool in HubSpot After using Hootsuite in the past, the social media tool in HubSpot has proven to be very easy to use. It pulls information from the HubSpot platform itself and has multiple tools in one programme. You are able to schedule messages out at certain times of the day or night which saves you a lot of time. HubSpot has the contact database, so you can monitor where your contacts and customers are visiting and interacting. Progressive polling helps you build trust with your customers. As returning customers fill out forms, it remembers this information so there is less repetition. They will be asked new questions so you will receive new information. Does Social Media Actually Work? When you post enough quality information at the best times suited to your target audience, it definitely works. The HubSpot tool lets you see how many posts get clicks, at what times and which posts in particular. It provides you with information needed to ensure your content is engaging and reaching your audience. Putting time in to ensure there are quality followers and a good audience is also important. If I Were in Charge of HubSpot, I Would Change... Adam would integrate the YouTube video channel into the social media publishing section of HubSpot. YouTube is the second biggest search engine after Google. Uploading videos straight from Youtube to HubSpot would be beneficial so you are able to monitor the progress. Zaahn would love to integrate Instagram with HubSpot, although it takes away the reason to post instantly through the app. Resources of the Week We are going to start profiling the useful resources that HubSpot have in their library, and profiling the library itself. You can find anything about marketing and sales as well as social media tools and a design section. It is available and for free for everyone to use. HubSpot are really strong with the development of the app and training and resources to go with it. Go to HubSpot.com and in the top right-hand corner you will see a motorboard hat. Under this heading, select the marketing library and search through the library. App of the Week Boxshot.com allows you to create 2D and 3D images which is ideal for creating eBooks. It's free to use and you receive multiple versions of the image. After finding early success with international pop acts such as Milli Vanilli, the German-born hitmaker Toby Gad went on to write and produce a string of international #1 singles, including Beyonce’s “If I Were a Boy,” Selena Gomez’s “A Year Without Rain,” and Nicole Scherzinger’s “Don’t Hold Your Breath.” He has twice been the recipient of the prestigious ASCAP Song of the Year award, first in 2008 for Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” and again in 2015 for John Legend’s “All of Me.” Toby’s contributions to officially certified Gold and Platinum album releases alone represent sales of more than 73 million units worldwide. If you are a new listener to this award-winning podcast, welcome! With over 40 years of teaching between us, Reza and Craig will help you improve your English and take it to the next level. In this episode: Your questions answered: How to start and finish emails, the English ‘subjuntivo’, the difference between ‘avoid’ and ‘prevent’ and more of your questions and comments. Más podcasts para mejorar tu ingles en: http://www.inglespodcast.com/ More podcasts to improve your English at: http://www.inglespodcast.com/ Thanks to our good friend Javier for the olive oil. How to start and finish emails Reza responds to emails using a similar level of formality (or informality) as the person who sends the email. FORMAL Beginning a formal email: Dear John, Mr. Smith (Mrs/Miss/Ms) - Yours Sincerely, miss - singlemrs.- marriedms - single or married Dear Sir/Madam - Yours Faithfully, Hi, Good morning/afternoon/evening (Reza would not choose these greetings for formal emails unless the other person used them first) Reza is a bit of a stickler (stickler - rigorista, insistente) Ending a formal email: Best wishes, All the best, Warm regards, Best regards, Kind regards, I look forward to/I'm looking forward to + (verb) + ing (Reza would choose not to use contractions, like "I'm", in a formal email). Reza and Craig both agree that it's better to be more formal in exam emails and letters. It's always better to be more formal than to risk offending someone by being too informal. INFORMAL Beginning an informal email: Hi, Hello, How's it going? What's up? Hey there! G'day (Australian greeting) Ending an informal email: Love, Lots of love, hugs, Cheers! kisses, see you soon! Thanks,See you Tuesday,Until Friday, Feedback: Javier from Burgos Javier found us around episode 44 and went back to Nº1. Now he needs more than one episode per week because he's listened to all of them!I'm used to listening to a daily podcast of you (must be true, he said "listening TO"!), If I were the President of the Government I would declare your podcasts "of national interest" and I would enact a law forcing you to release a podcast every day. Poor Craig and Reza! A doubt I sometimes have is trouble translating our Spanish "subjuntivo" into English. Certain expressions are clear to me, such as the typical "verb + pronoun + to inf" (I told you to come earlier), and some others such as using certain verbs with the bare infinitive (recommend, suggest): I recommend that you study more /It is recommended that you study more. My doubt is with other examples apart from the aforementioned, such as: "No creo que vaya a la fiesta" = I don't think I go / will go to the party. Which one is correct? Both? Besides, concerning the examples with the bare infinitive, I think that with some verbs there is only that possibility, I mean: "I recommend that you go the party" is OK but you can't say "I recommend you to go to the party". But with other verbs, are both possibilities allowed?. For instance: "I asked that Mark submit his assignment" MAYBE YOU ASKED MARK’S TUTOR TO ASK MARK TO SUBMIT IT and "I asked Mark to submit his assignment". YOU ASKED MARK DIRECTLY So, my enquiry is: which verbs are only used with the bare infinitive and which verbs can be used with both structures?. Best regards from Burgos,Javier Nobody really agrees what the subjunctive is and when it should be used. Many grammar books and English teachers disagree. The past subjunctive is the same as the past indicative. The exception is the verb TO BE: I were, you were, he/sh/it were (for example, as used in the second conditional "If I WERE you, I would.....") The present subjunctive is the same as the past subjunctive, except for the 3rd person 's' which is sometimes (but not always) removed: "I recommend he TRAVEL without any luggage." The present subjunctive is more common in American English than British English. The present subjunctive of the verb TO BE is 'BE' for all forms of the verb (I BE, you BE, he/she/it BE etc). Example, "If there be any reason why this man and woman should not be married....." Some verbs which can take the subjunctive include: advise - "Passengers are advised that the 5:15 train to Swindon has been cancelled." / "I advise that he NOT go there." (negative subjunctive) ask - "I ask that he accompany us." / I ask that you put the gun down on the floor, sir." demand - "I demand that you give back the money." insist - "We insist that all passengers check in before 6pm." propose - "I propose we meet after dinner for a cocktail." recommend - "I recommend that students not write on their question paper." request - "We request that all guests remove their muddy boots before entering the lobby." suggest - "I suggest that we have a break for coffee after this podcast." Some expressions sometimes go with, or use, the subjunctive: It's a good idea....... - "It's a good idea that she stay (subjunctive) / stays (indictative) behind." "God save the Queen." / "Long live the Queen." Audio feedback: Antonio Prieto from Cadiz (thank you for your podcast) - XI've been hearing youX - listening to you. Here's some audio feedback from Antonio Prieto. Another question we have been asked, and I'm sorry, I can't remember who asked us this, but it's about the two verbs 'avoid' and 'prevent'. What’s the difference between to avoid (evitar, esquivar) and to prevent (prevenir, evitar)? To prevent is to take action to stop something before it starts. To avoid is to just stay away from something. (more active / engagement/deployment to stop something happening???) "My dad prevented me from going to the rave." (prevent someone FROM doing something)Example: Getting the flu shot would be prevention, hiding in your home and not having contact with anyone until the end of flu season would be avoidance. "I avoided speaking to John" - (avoid + gerund) Listener Feedback: Javier G from the Basque country - audio feedback - not because he says how much he likes the podcast, but because he is practising his English.(listen TO you, Good use of present perfect 'I've downloaded all your podcasts', 'I've learned a lot of English with you.' and 'do sport' (not Xpractise sportX) Italki ad read: Feedback from Mamen from our sponsor italkiConvenient (learning at home, technology)Affordable (cut out the middlemen, great pricing)Personal, Customized (personalized learning) Human Connection (not apps / software) ITALKI READ Paloma from SegoviaGood morning Craig and Reza,My name is Paloma and I live in Segovia.I listened to your podcast just a month ago when I luckily came across them looking for some listenings and I must say you two are doing a wonderful work (a wonderful job) which I am very grateful for. Now, making profit of your kindness (taking advantage of), I wonder if you could clarify this sentence: "I hope you don't mind my asking", which I believe is correct, instead of "I hope you don't mind me asking" or "I hope you don't mind if I ask", ....I am not sure which one is best, I always use the first one though, and when and how to use it.Thank you in advance.P.S. Jokes You Can Use: The teacher said; “Take a pencil and paper, and write an essay with the title ‘If I Were a Millionaire.’” Everyone but Joe, who leaned back with arms folded, began to write feverishly. “What’s the matter,” the teacher asked. “Why don’t you begin?” “I’m waiting for my secretary,” Joe replied. Why were all the ink spots crying? Their father was in the pen. A fellow bought a new Mercedes and was out on the interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph, he suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind him. "There's no way they can catch a Mercedes," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100.... Then the reality of the situation hit him. "What am I doing?" he thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word and examined it and the car. "It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift and it's Friday the 13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go." The guy thinks for a second and says, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back!" "Have a nice weekend," said the officer. A magazine for middle school science teachers, published by the National Science Teachers Association. The article was entitled "A Special Assignment from NASA" - Understanding Earth's Atmosphere Through the Integration of Science and Mathematics. The article was written by Justine E. Fox and Nicole J. Glen. The purpose of the special assignment was to help students understand the role of NASA scientists, while asking real world questions about the atmosphere. The unit begins with the reading of "Here's the Crusher" from the book "Even More Everyday Science Mysteries." The mystery is about a boy, Eric, who washes a water bottle under hot water and then observes what happens to the bottle. This leads students in the classroom to re-enact the mystery and then apply the knowledge to a better understanding of why certain technological items like satellites, airplanes, etc. are found in certain atmospheric levels and not others. They study the height and the temperatures of the atmospheric levels.
